Wow, that blade looks awesome. Gave me some inspiration. Also I'd like to say how much I appreciate you actually showing what the layers look like after each step. There's lots of videos of people making pattern welded projects, but this was the first time I saw someone showing how the pattern actually evolves and how it comes together.
For those asking: 1) Yes I’m aware gold is a soft metal, that’s why it’s never on the cutting edge and the entire core is high carbon steel. 2) No you can’t just put a thin strip of gold instead of a whole layer, steel won’t forge weld at those temps or you’d melt the gold. 3) The offcuts are being saved for a future project, probably a folder and some fittings. Thanks for watching.
Hey bro, first vid of yours I've seen, awesome build! it would go a long way to just lock your video layers and delete the audio off them and just finding a few tracks you like to play in the background. That way you wouldn't have the sped up noises that come from the footage. Just a suggestion. Again, awesome build!
Base is 20k probably more when people learn about his other projects and want something. Only takes into account materials… time effort and actual usefulness would make it more valuable. Add in the hourly pay a blacksmith makes on average.
Beautiful piece of craftsmanship and Art! I'm just curious though (I know it's not for sale), but what do you think the price point would be on this knife?
@Дмитрий Селиверстов If you're talking about the offcuts, they have gold in them with damascus cladding. It is certainly worth saving. If you're talking about something else, some context might be helpful.
This is definitely, without a doubt, the most beautiful knife I have ever seen. The attention to detail is superb, and I love how you talk us through everything you're doing. PS: I lost it at 22:26, that handle post buff- with the dammy screw contrast, just extra insane. You're a true Artisan of your craft sir.
is no one gonna talk about the absolute jump in his editing?? Everything about this video is a cut above his normally outstanding content. He sounds less like a guy in a garage doing things and more like a professional and expert like he really is! I’m so happy I got to watch his journey over time to this point, working with gold is an incredible milestone
I really appreciate your video editing style, I like your thorough description of the process and the visual diagrams. Definitely one of my new favorite forging channels!
That's probably the coolest & most stunning blade I've seen anyone produce for sure! Well done, super cool blade whoever ends up with that in their kitchen is super lucky
@Tyrell Knifeworks beautiful craftsmanship. The finish shots seemed kinda grainy. Do you have in uncompressed photos of the knife on your site? It’s seriously amazing.
OH. MY. GOD! this is easily the prettiest knife I've ever seen! the pattern with the gold is stunning and that handle fits the look so perfectly. Well done man I have insane respect for you after this, you earned a sub!
The final product is simply one of the nicest bits of forging I have ever seen. The video is also one of the best. Thank you and congrats to David for funding and receiving one of the nicest pieces on the web! Brilliant.
Nuevo sub
This was mind blowing. So stoked you sent it to David - that’s a great deal for both of you I hope future exotic projects get win/win sponsorship like this.
@Chris Harris yeah... acid would work, but holy fuck the amount of manhours and the price of acid/electricity (to run the machinery to essentially pulverize the entire thing) would be pretty wild... if you include a reasonable cost for labor and assume all the gold in the piece is worth 5500... and assume you're not gonna bother trying to get the iron out of the acid since it doesn't just go back to steel, you're probably talking a "recovered value" (as in, how much more the gold's worth compared to what it took to get it back) of like, 4k tops? so... ballpark 1.5k for fucking up is still some pucker factor. Plus it'd set him back probably a week or two on starting over.
By far the most beautiful knife ei have ever seen in my life, I would be more then excited to ever get one of these....you are truly an artist my friend
Beyond stunning! You were so cool sounding through the narration too… that is a truly brave build but with your patience, planning and experience it turned out simply divine - you are a true artisan sir and watching your creations emerge from your forge is so satisfying to see.
Just wow! That is an amazing opportunity for you to stamp your creativity onto some very precious materials... and you NAILED IT! It's gorgeous. You should be very proud of this masterpiece. And not just the knife. The final presentation in its case was 100% and the effort of panning for the gold and including it almost as a charm to go with the blade just... Perfection. Keep doing what you're doing.
This is the best knife I have ever seen, period! It amazes me that pieces like this are even possible! I can't wait to see what other fantastic knives you make
What a masterpiece, Denis!!! "If at first you don't succeed, .... KNOCK IT OUT OF THE PARK, THE SECOND TIME!!!" This is one that everyone will be talking about for a long time! Thanks for sharing, educating, and inspiring, my brother! 😎👍🏻🔨🔥🔪 #RESPECT
your work is simply without equivalence, this object is magnificent and is more a work of art than a simple knife, I hope that you will still delight us with your works, a thousand bravos.
Maaan! That is one of the most beautiful knives I have ever seen! The shape of the blade is "odd", yet the overall looks and "feel" is amazing! The best handle choice!
Wow! Dennis that is way beyond next level! Everything about it tied in so well. The handle, the etch, the coffee etch. Your makers mark blend in so well. That had to be a little intimidating working on but it turned so awesome! Thanks again!
Gorgeous knife! You just keep raising the bar. The inlay was a nice touch, and Oleg definitely came through with the perfect wood for this build too. Fantastic work as always. Happy holidays to you and yours!
I never heard about you until now and i have to say you have some great talent and love this piece you put together and turned out extraordinary it’s beautiful ❤❤
Wow! this is THE most beautiful knife I've ever seen, and I thought the copper Damascus was amazing, here we are with me even more blown away! I'd love to see the owner of the knife's reaction when they open this up
WoW ! ! Amazing build, didn't know you could get Gold to cooperate like that. Gr8 wood choice & adding the gold dust panning's to the boxing was a Classy touch. 👍
Love how the knife turned out. Feels like the taste of whatever food it cuts is just gonna taste better already. Thats how you know its an absolute masterpiece.
I imagine this must’ve been a challenging build to plan out considering gold is such fragile material, overall that is a beautiful knife and an excellent job
That's a hell of a piece, Duder. That burl you used for the handle was dead on, exactly right. Killer blade shape, beautiful steel pattern. Great work!
The visualisations you provided with (simple) images was the cherry on top in this video. In such a simple yet effective way you explained to the audience what you were doing. Fantastic, please continue doing this :)
Awesome build! Shame on you for making us wait so long for the video though. I hope this gets you over the 250K mark, because you definitely deserve it. SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE CONTENT PEOPLE!!!
Wow this knife turned out so beautiful. And you did absolutely the right thing to save up the wood for this handle. The blade and the handle is a match made in heaven. It is perfect.
Simply amazing. Now that’s a chefs knife I’d love to own but hell I couldn’t afford the gold much less paying you for your work. You do excellent work by the way
The video shows off the beauty far better than the pictures (which I am sure is secondary to how it appears in person.) I enjoyed watching your process and your illustrations of what was happening to the metal as you worked it. It looks as though you could have a lot of fun with your range of equipment. Keep making quality pieces and ignore the trolls. 👍
Tyrell! The level of your blade smithing is extra ordinary. I loved the Gold in the knife and the choice of 80Crv2 steel as bevel.
RandomHands
its awsome to see positivity between creaters
Thanks for checking out this build! I appreciate you watching. 😉

@Lord Bravery I'll cut back the audio on the machine noises in the next one. Stay tuned. Thanks for watching.

What an absolute masterpiece, this is the kind of stuff you keep in your family for generations. I wonder if it's also possible with silver or brass?
@Tyrell Knifeworks good for him.
It’s been done with silver and brass already. I’m sure David will keep this knife as a family heirloom. Thanks for watching.
Thanks so much, Bruno! I appreciate you checking it out!
Очень круто. Видно, мастер вложил душу в эту работу. Ещё одно произведение искусства!
Спасибо! Я ценю, что вы заглянули.
That is one of the most beautiful knives I have seen in my entire life! Exceptional! Very well done!
Exactly what I was about to say about this knife 👌🏻 This is next level
@Oscar Mayer that’s my last name. My first name is Denis.
@Tyrell Knifeworksoh you didn’t keep it? Ohhh Nevermind, I forgot you said it was for that patreon David
@Tyrell Knifeworks why did your parents name you Tyrell? Are you a brotha? lol
i guess you didn't see salem straub knives.. check it out you will change your mind.
This is gorgeous, as a collector and also a former chef, I would love to own it. Little expensive for me personally though.
Thanks for taking a look, Jake.
That knife is beautiful and the case you made for it with the little jar of gold shaving is like the cherry on top!
Thanks so much, Jared! I appreciate you taking a look!

David who supplied the gold got this knife, that was the deal. 👍. Thanks for watching.
Your patreon subscriber was smart to fund this. What an absolute masterpiece!
@Emitor there are clear shots on my website in the Gallery
@Tyrell Knifeworks beautiful craftsmanship. The finish shots seemed kinda grainy. Do you have in uncompressed photos of the knife on your site? It’s seriously amazing.
@Tyrell Knifeworks good exhibit for the museum beautiful but useless
@Tyrell Knifeworks steel 80 crv2 costs only $5-10
The attention to detail on this knife is so amazing. I can see every thought process to make this knife as beautiful as it is
Thanks so much! This one definitely did require a lot of thought. Thanks for watching!
The handle is just perfect for that blade. Beautiful work 👏 👌
Thanks for checking it out, Carl!
OH. MY. GOD! this is easily the prettiest knife I've ever seen! the pattern with the gold is stunning and that handle fits the look so perfectly. Well done man I have insane respect for you after this, you earned a sub!
Welcome to the channel! Thanks for checking out this build!
I love all blacksmith videos. But I think the idea of displaying the change in the pattern is brilliant. And here again a masterpiece!!
I'm glad the graphics are helpful! Thanks for watching. ❤️
This is insane! Such a wicked blade shape and beautiful contrast in the patterns
Thanks for taking a look, Scott!
That handle is just unreal for this knife. Absolutely stunning
I would say the handle looks more gold than the blade
Thanks for watching, Michael! Happy holidays!
The final product is simply one of the nicest bits of forging I have ever seen. The video is also one of the best. Thank you and congrats to David for funding and receiving one of the nicest pieces on the web! Brilliant.

¡Muchas gracias por seguir el canal!
Absolutely stunning! You are truly an artist. Master of the art. Thank you for another great video. Peace on the path.
Thanks for taking a look, Kenneth!
That is absolutely beautiful !! I’m sure it’s functional but it would look at home framed & on a wall in a art gallery 👍
David will mostly be keeping it in it’s case and using it for special occasions. Thanks for watching, Mark.
This was mind blowing. So stoked you sent it to David - that’s a great deal for both of you I hope future exotic projects get win/win sponsorship like this.
It was arranged beforehand of course. He was brave to take all the risk and I was happy to get the video out of it! Thanks for watching!
I cannot imagine how scary it must have been to put that gold in the forge for the first time
@Chris Harris yeah... acid would work, but holy fuck the amount of manhours and the price of acid/electricity (to run the machinery to essentially pulverize the entire thing) would be pretty wild... if you include a reasonable cost for labor and assume all the gold in the piece is worth 5500... and assume you're not gonna bother trying to get the iron out of the acid since it doesn't just go back to steel, you're probably talking a "recovered value" (as in, how much more the gold's worth compared to what it took to get it back) of like, 4k tops? so... ballpark 1.5k for fucking up is still some pucker factor. @Tyrell Knifeworks YOU don't bring it back to sheets. You simply sell the gold scrap in whatever shape you have.
@handduggrave420 rdr2online yes
@handduggrave420 rdr2online Why what? And who are you asking?
Why
this is genuinely the most beautiful knife I've ever seen. amazing job!!
Thanks for checking it out!
Amazing work, you got a new sub.
Also this was one of the most educational forging videos I've ever seen.
Keep up the good work :)
Welcome to the channel! Thanks for watching!
Загляденье, только талантливый человек, может творить такие вещи🎆
Спасибо, что заглянули!
I've never seen scale come off in a pattern before 5:45
Thanks for your amazing work and content.
Scale does tend to expose the pattern beneath when it come off. It can look pretty cool sometimes. Thanks for watching!
Absolutely gorgeous!! You did a killer job. Thank you for this!
Thanks for taking a look!
How do you like the final knife? I'm not sure I'll be doing this again, but it sure was a fun build!
Personally I would prefer a different blade shape, but the end result is absolutely stunning! Amazing job! 👏
Gold will never rust or tarnish so it will last forever. The knife edge is 80CRV2 high carbon steel so it will hold a great edge. Thanjs for watching.
Amazing. But can you tell us how well the gold will hold up? And how long until you have to sharpen the knife again?
By far the most beautiful knife ei have ever seen in my life, I would be more then excited to ever get one of these....you are truly an artist my friend
Its so amazing, its like a piece of art!!!
That edge looks absolutely amazing, very well done, new to your channel glad it popped up, truly amazing work
Thanks for watching, Michael!

Спасибо, что заглянули!
Gorgeous knife! You just keep raising the bar. The inlay was a nice touch, and Oleg definitely came through with the perfect wood for this build too. Fantastic work as always. Happy holidays to you and yours!

Wow This knife looks so damn good! Such class and elegance! Good Job!!

That is truly so far beyond impressive that it goes right past astounding, and probably past phenomenal too. Absolutely gorgeous.
Thanks so much! I appreciate you checking it out!
O kurde, najpiękniejszy nóż jaki widziałem! Gratuluję! =O
On się nie będzie rozwarstwiał między złotem a stalą?
Lutowanie złotem jest bardzo mocne. Zniszczysz nóż, zanim rozerwiesz warstwy. Dzięki za oglądanie!
That looks amazing. You should consider doing a copper-gold-copper version. I bet the colors would be wild.
I’m not sure I’ll do gold again, the cost is quite high. Thanks for watching!
Great work! The cross section images in the corner are an informative touch for those of us not experienced in forging/blade making. Subbed.
Welcome to the channel! Thanks for checking out this build!
WoW ! ! Amazing build, didn't know you could get Gold to cooperate like that. Gr8 wood choice & adding the gold dust panning's to the boxing was a Classy touch. 👍
I’ve been saving that block for a year! Also, panning gold is way harder than it looks. 😜. Thanks for watching.
Seriously impressive work and attention to detail. A true work of Art!
Thanks for watching, Scott!
Phenomenal work as always, and you chose the perfect handle for it. It really makes the gold in the blade pop.

Thanks for checking it out!
One sweet looking box too. It was very classy of you to salvage the gold and return it to him as well. You rock!
$5500 in gold, but you see $400 worth
Yes, but that's the cost of the process. Thanks for watching.
What an amazing knife you have created, love your work!
Thanks for checking it out!
I think you've made history as the first man in the world to forge a Damascus gold knife
Yes I hope so! Thanks for watching!
Amazing work!!! The knife is fantastic and the gold dust touch was the perfect ending
Panning gold dust is much harder than it looks! 😜. Thanks for watching.
