You are a true artist. To see what that steel started out as and then what it ended up being was incredible. The mirrored finish on both of those metals was absolutely gorgeous and I think the black bolts and nuts in the handle really set it off. I love it I would absolutely buy that if you would sell it

I am personally not a big fan of the brass handle (would prefer wood for more grip), but I can't even do something like this. Props to you.

When you say 'salt', is it NaCl that you melt ?
How long do you leave the blade in this molten salt ?
What is the later process with what looks like sand ?
Thanks for answering for those details. I'm a noob and know nothing about forge :D

Can you make Keris (Indonesian traditional weapon)? Keris is made of iron, steel and nickel. Keris is made by forging repeatedly, then made in layers. At the present time, at least keris is made of 64 layers of iron and nickel. In order to get a good keris sharpness, a layer of steel must be inserted in the middle. After that, the keris will continue to be forged and layered to make it stronger.

It’s his system for tempering the blade. I assume he doesn’t have access to a oven so he covers the blade in sand to prevent hot spots probably puts it over a fire for a bit. When a blade is hardened it is too hard to use as a knife(think of it like glass) so you have to heat it up to 300-450 degrees and have it sit for there a while to make the blade softer so it is still hard enough to take an edge while not being to hard which prevents cracks.
