Anyone wondering if Dead Space needs a remake. It doesn’t need one, it deserves one! This is an opportunity for the franchise to be alive and make us whole again.
@Oh .Sleeper That makes no sense for a few reasons. Firstly, the remake already retains most if not all of the features of the original. What additional insight or qualifications will a reviewer get if they play the original first? Especially if the remake is already better than the original. This is like saying “you can’t review GTA V Expanded and Enhanced on PS5 if you haven’t played GTA V on PS3”. Like, how exactly will that make a difference? It’s the same game. Like, consider the following: imagine if someone does play the original, then plays the remake and gives both a 9 and praise the same things. How would that be different from someone who plays just the remake and praises the same things and gives it a 9? The fact the original exists doesn’t change how the new game should be reviewed. Secondly, that’s ignoring that for many players, the remake will be their first exposure to Dead Space (especially given the franchise has never sold crazy well). If there are going to be many players that haven’t played the original, why should reviewers be penalized for the same thing? Plus, this is common with remakes. Many of them are often made with new players in mind that missed the original. So I’d argue that alone destroys any notion of reviewers not being qualified for not playing the original.

Yeah but probably with no split screen like previously due to 'frame rate' issues.. Don't know why these new hardware cannot cope with split screen gameplay! Ridiculous all these 'next gen' consoles!
Should be noted too that Isaac's heartbeat also goes up when he looks closely at a murdered body for the first time, just as anyone would. Little detail they didn't need to put in but they did
Mine too. Look at the design, animations and sounds of the necromorphs though. They all seem like a massive downgrade to the original... And Isaac's animations are also pretty horrible if you ask me.

People love to exaggerate. There was a lot of great games coming out every year. Also disappointing ones but if you just check what games came out you realize people just love to complain nowadays, cant be denied that as many crappy devs there is there is whiney gamers
@hellspawn3000 Yes and no, if Motive changes the DS3 structure from a co-op shooter mess to a more single-player oriented real survival horror experience It can turn out to be a pretty solid experience :)

This was a fantastic review. The writing is superb and whoever wrote the script or edited deserve a raise. And make whoever added the Tim the Tool Man grunt should be the CEO
I'm so glad we're in this era of remakes where they can look like their true potential without technical limitation. It's like in the art world when they do restorations. Like sure maybe half of the painting was redone, but it's done so well and faithful that it perfectly captures the original vision. It's why I'm excited for games like RE4 and SH2
@Light Up Well to be fair it's to sometimes revive a franchise. It's a mutual benefit. If done well, existing fans are happy and devs get an easy payday. It can also jumpstart a semi dead franchise and injecting a lot of new creativity into it. Look at the new SH games announced, sure one remake but a tons of original new ones as well on the way
To be honest its cool. But sadly also a testimony for creative bankruptcy. Remakes arent done for the fans primarily but because people do sth safe rather than new and innovative and that as a gamer is rather tragic

Hell yeah, so excited to see where this franchise can go, hopefully John Carpenter wasn't mistaken and there really is a TV show or movie in the works. If it can be inspired by the last of us show in that is stays faithful it would be a horror masterpiece and instant classic.
Found the game well optimised allowing me to play 60fps+ @ 3440x1440 with x2.25 DLDSR (5120x2160) no DLSS. This really shows of the visuals with a 4090. Loving the game so far
Calm down folks. New is in the eyes of the beholder. If one has experienced something before, it's new to them. We enjoyed it back then, now let them be excited as we were.

Thats because it's not a new game. It's easier for them to go back to a finished product and work on that than make a new game and who blames them people are satisfied with getting remakes for 2 and 3 rather than seeing a whole new dead space game.

EA's got Respawn and Motive as their powerhouse studios now. If they could only bring DICE and Bioware back to what they used to be, they would have a lineup of very strong studios

The horror MASTERPIECE remake has finally arrived! Build from the ground up, faithful to the original with no cut content like RE3 (remake), enhanced and expanded, just like the remake of the first Resident Evil. This is how a remake should be made! Excellent work, Motive!
Just played crysis for the first time and had a blast. Picked up the remastered version to play 2 and 3. Going to play dead space next! Makes me sad how far EA have fallen
The fact that this was EA handing it off to Motiv reminds me of how Game Freak handed off Diamond and Pearl or ILCA. Both felt like they were made by fans for fans and not the beta test that was Callisto Protocol and Legends: Arceus
The timing of this is so on point. Every TV and Movie Studio will be looking for game franchises that could be 'last of us esque'. Dead Space could be a great adaption.
If they ever get to the point of remaking Dead Space 3, should they remake it (update graphics like this DS1 remake) or remake the whole game from scratch (new story, no dlc crap, etc )?

This universe/gameplay is so enlightened, the whole trilogy needs to be revived and updated, it's the horror videogames rennaissance.

Played the originals to death and still have them on disc. Already pre ordered this and can't wait. Was left disappointed by callisto protocol.
