I adore this man. He is so clever in so many fields. Some of his series have kept me sane since my husband died 18 months ago. I was on edge waiting for series 3 of After Life. It was so brilliant . I had no idea each episode took so long to make. I feel greedy. So much effort. Thank you RICKY you are my hero. I am nearly 80 but can still appreciate brilliant acting. Thank you. ❤️❤️❤️

Hell is a real place, populated with real people suffering real/intense agony from real fire and torments. Avoid it at all costs. Accept JESUS as your LORD and saviour and live for the Kingdom of GOD. John 3:18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son (JESUS). Nobody can see heaven except those who have accepted CHRIST and honestly believe that HE died and rose again on the third so our sins can be washed away. The Bible also tells us that childlike people will see the kingdom of GOD, not childish. This means to be pure in mind, heart and soul and be as innocent as a child.

For sure.. As far as I'm concerned he is currently the greatest living stand up comedian. And I wouldn't be fair if I didn't mention his equally cutting edge and transfomatory TV work he's done as an actor/writer/producer/director.. And last but not the least, he's a brilliant man whose podcasts with Lawrence Krauss and Neil DeGrasse Tyson tells you a lot about his profound interest in science and a continuous pursuit of knowledge.

Ricky is a soul-searching gem of a bloke. His philosophy, unusual slant of humour and laid back acting is so unique. He’s a little bit miserable like Les Dawson and Jack Dee yet he can inject more optimistic tones and emotions.

@anonymous johnson Will you lose money in a bet or something if you acknowledge that the kind of religious beliefs you are conflating my views (and much of Judaism) with were around before the Bible and that the Bible actually told people to stop that mindless worship of mythological Gods? It’s the truth, that even for any of its faults the Bible described what we now call Logic before Greek Philosophers and their terms became the standard in the academic world.
You do know there was a time before the Bronze Age collapse where nations like Egypt, Israel and Mesopotamia were the most advanced and intellectual and that they had their own languages and terms for things right?
Just because you are ignorant of what things mean in another language does not make the language nonsense.

@anonymous johnson x equals x so God must also be God. If you do not understand this then how are you sure that you are you?

I think Ricky Gervais is a comedic genius.
And the other thing I noticed in this video was that throughout when they showed the audience, no one had their phone out checking their messages or twitter feed or email. You can tell this was at a university not located in the US.

Not really.. he just makes total sense and says what a lot of us think.. It’s great if he challenges the way you think because looking at absolutely every angle to every situation and finding the correct answer even if it’s obscure.. takes time. 😂 I am older so Ricky never says anything surprising or different because I have had the time to consider everything.. I welcome hearing something I haven’t thought of.. and I adore Rickey’s humour, he is hilarious! 😂

I'd love to lift the top of his head and read his brain rather than to hear what comes out of his mouth. He's a quiet philosopher and he sells his philosophy through his comedy. @2fast2block I love how this guy claims Ricky doesn't know what he's talking about and then proceeds to present his own opinions as facts without providing any proper evidence or proof of it. If anything, you've only gone on to prove what Ricky said about people falsely thinking they can have their own facts as opposed to their own opinions xD. I love how Ricky's able to wind narrow minds up xD. Ffs he got this guy to do a 1000 word essay in the comments of a KZclip video xD

    • 2fast2block

He's down to earth in a way that he's dumber than dirt.
"People who believe in God don’t need proof of his existence, and they certainly don’t want evidence to the contrary. They are happy with their belief. They even say things like “it’s true to me” and “it’s faith." Ricky Gervais
Ricky does not know what biblical faith is because he just does not care to know.
Biblically, faith means trust. It's a trust by evidence seen. God asks that we prove things. To reason. To get knowledge. To study. God has nothing to hide. We develop trust from what is seen, and that which is not seen yet is trusted also because of the trust built up from what is seen. It's much like a human relationship. We don't trust much until a person has gained that trust from what is observed. The difference is though, God is not limited to human powers. He created us.
Romans 1:20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
Ricky can't even explain the start, creation, and yet he acts so smugly.
Real science says nothing does nothing. Real science says if there was something there already it must fit with the evidence of what we know. We know the 1LT says there's a conservation of energy. It can change forms and neither can be created or destroyed. Creation cannot happen by natural means. The 2LT has various aspects, one being the universe is winding down, entropy. Usable energy is becoming less usable, so at one point usable energy was at its max. This all points to a supernatural creation, by a supernatural creator at a certain point in which matter, space, and time were created. When I read how it can happen otherwise, ALL the fools resort to science-fiction. Once a supernatural creation is accepted, then the next step is finding proof of what supernatural power did it.
We can't even get science without God. The laws of nature only can come from a Lawgiver, God.
We only get life from life...the law of biogenesis. We can't get anything without God.
God is the reason for us and all we have.
“However improbable the origin of life might be, we know it happened on Earth because we are here.” -Richard Dawkins.
      The odds are NOT there.

He perfectly described why I don't watch reality TV shows. I couldn't really touch on it before or describe it to people, but Ricky did it for me. It is the under belly of human behavior.
In fact it reminds me of the 80s where they promoted being cut throat and underhanded in business as okay, but at least it wasn't being sold as reality, it remained fiction even if it was highly influential on people (i.e. Wolf of Wall Street, Family Ties, the Secret of My Success, Trading Places, etc.).

"It is the mark of the educated mind to be able to entertain an idea without accepting it"-Aristotle. I think this sums up the start of this talk very well. Some of us choose to think independently, and appreciate those who choose to do the same. Gervais is a veritable Demi-God for the lover of Comedy and Intellectualism.

@Smarte Chick Ah but that presupposes there was ever an opinion by a twenty year old, that would stand their reaching fifty! Susan Sontag’s work is required reading. By the age of fifty until her death, she denounced it as naive drivel. Which it is! But no lecturer in his thirties or forties will throw their career under a bus to admit they are their under false pretexts. All philosophy should be attributed and extolled by the old, and that is because naivety has kicked them in the family jewels and made them cynical.

There's no reason why politics should be regarded as "funny". It could well be argued that the political process works much better when people take it seriously.

Logical Concept 9 ай бұрын +1

Religion and the Bible are not the same however. Religions use the Bible but it does not mean there is not a sensible interpretation and real wisdom that could be had if one applies logic.
Many people claim to “believe in science” and know nothing about it if we tested them. Does that make science invalid? No…
The God of Abraham and Moshe’s description of him was his (rather good) understanding of Logic.
It was hundred of years before the golden age of Greek Philosophy and outdoes most of the Greek philosophy modern academics often respect and revere.
Observing Moshe’s God, the one true God that isn’t fake like the Egyptian Gods, means to study logic and the objective truth found through “eating the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil”.

@Y T atheism just means some people aren't convince in existence of any God. When i say morality is subjective, I meant its a human construct and that every living organism have their own biological need and instinct, an example is we cant punish a wolf for eating sheep. Same as humans, there is no true good and bad. People are either born or raised a certain way.
So no, im pretty sure you dont understand what I meant. You are just here saying people dont know what they mean without providing any counter arguments or follow ups

    • Albert615

9:20. He makes a cracking point here. If everyone's agreeing with you, your words are accomplishing nothing. If you are speaking your mind about a subject which you feel strongly for/against, and everyone who is listening to you is agreeing, you are preaching to the wrong people. I think this is a big problem at the moment where these SJW people are all hyped up on the fact that everyone has been agreeing with them, so you should too. But in reality, everyone is not everyone, they are the people whom you have chosen to talk to.

Wherever your own state of thought may sit with someone like Gervais; from positions unconscionable with which to ally yourself, to that you find so agreeable it's on the superluminal, I think engaging with a mind of his nature leaves neither of these extremes neglected. People can be very good at things and do well for themselves from doing them. But I think Ricky shows an example of what rounded and wholesome intellect looks like, it's really a far greater gift to those it's shared with than to the one "original" custodian.
That's just my view; Mr Gervais, if you're about in Hampshire any time you're invited to arrange a time to meet, in order to talk yourself down from the pedestal on which I have put you. haha :)
