@Jordan Wallace yep, that's the whole point of enjoying free will! Disgusted by the idea that somebody would assume any liability on my behalf on pain of eternal damnation. A guy like that isn't my friend. He's my enemy.
I'm so pleased this game turned out to be so good. Kudos to the developers for delivering on their promises and gifting us this wonderful title. The future of this franchise is bright
@coruviel He needs his ‘Moon On Stick’. Feature creep has killed many games development. Plenty of football games out there and they can take as much development time to get right as Hogwarts Legacy. Not because it was on the mandatory schedule like Generic UbiSoft Open World. 24ish more hours and I'll be diving into this work of passion.
As a Harry Potter fan I really love the feeling in this game, I can live my Hogwarts fantasy. I am not that far into the game yet, but so far the story is pretty good too, fits very well into this universe.
Been playing exclusively on fidelity mode. I can honestly say it hasn’t taken me out the experience at all, it’s quite the contrary. A huge reason why me and many other people bought this game was to feel like you’re actually in this world. Fidelity mode makes the world look absolutely breathtaking. Flying around on the broom exploring and taking in the scenery at sunset, wandering the castle examining the fine details of the design, the way light bounces off objects and reflects realistically. It’s pure emersion and I’m absolutely loving it
I haven't tried fidelity yet, I heard it drops your FPS dramatically. Performance mode is smooth as butter and still looks amazing. I'm mainly a PC player but I'm playing this title on my PS5 because of the optimization. I have an extremely hard time playing even at 60FPS when I'm so used to 120FPS and up.
@PRANKLIZER None taken at all my man. It was good of you to point that out. Avalanche Software have worked hard on this game and it is their first major title and credits should be given to the correct studio.
@Ramrod bLDM It’s more a good light weight RPG based game that happens to be in the Harry Potter universe. As it it is set before any of the movies the tie in is lighter than expected. With some easter eggs to find in game and the Hogwarts location being the biggest connection. Horizon Zero Dawn is still my high watermark but this isn’t bad by a long shot.
@JustYouCalmDownSon I can safely say that I had a grin on my face the entire opening, and I still do. There are so many little touches to make this a standout. As for it making me appreciate the more more….yup HL sunk its teeth into me
4 hours in on pc and I'm blown away , we are gifted with an amazing game created with love and passion ❤️ We should be happy and grateful 🙏 I can't wait to get back to playing
I never could get into the series, but I love detailed open world rpg's so I'll be giving this a go in a few months once any bugs are patched out and there's a good selection of mods to add in. Looks amazing.
That's the game I wanted and waited for basically all my childhood. So expectations are big in terms of immersion and that Harry Potter experience. On first glance I don't have to worry about that. Thanks for the video!
The HP games were my childhood. Especially the PS1 and PS2 titles. To this day I adore those games, but this is something my inner child can't help but cry out in excitement about! If he knew this game was going to exist I know it would have blown his mind.
I love the mysterious dark vibe it has sometimes with a mix of fable 2 energy when you walkin through the forest I swear I was just on hogwarts all day mane lol I did not expect it to be this good the side quests are fun af too I love the way you can customize your living space
Great review I honestly don’t mind bad itemization as long as the way you get them is fun, to me exploration is it’s own reward so I’m wondering if it’s strong in that regard.
I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve explored so far. There seems to be a bunch of outfits cause I have a bunch in only like 8 hours of gameplay. And I like how they did the customization for the outfits. You can change the look of any piece of gear to something you have found or unlocked that you might like the look of better but has bad stats
Itemization/Loot also feels like something a series of patches could easily and steadily improve on. I don't think it makes a huge difference out of the gate if they rest of it is a hit.
We've been asking for this since we were kids. this is truly a dream come true. we've had so many hours of fun that we'll probably be sorry to see it end. a true adversary for TLOZ Tears of the kingdom.
As much as this game has met and exceeded our expectations I am very much looking forward to the sequels. If this is supposed to be a trilogy then I really think they can make a GOTD.
Key word there “devs” its not entirely up to them if theres mtx or no mtx. If the publisher aka WB sees potential in loads of cash in mtx WB will definitely request them be put in. Lets be honest here, how many people are gonna be playing this game? Millions? You really think WB wont add mtx for that many people playing this big a game you on something. 🤣🤣
What really blew my mind was how the game nails the power fantasy of being a wizard. Whether its exploration finding the right spell to unlock a puzzle or combat and weaving spells together with environmental factors to make you feel like a wizard. The combat isn’t perfect in that the enemy variety isn’t insane but it nails the power fantasy more then any other game I have ever played.
@4:29 Even though a lot of the activites are repetitive to me it works, I think they did a good job thinking systems through. Theres enough variety in activities to keep a good rotation and not having level or spells make it so that you have to mix it up. Also complete activites are directly tied to getting more powerful in some way. Completing a single activity also doesn't overstay its welcome so if its something you dont like doing, you can prob get it over with in 1-2 min.
Don’t know exactly how development went myself but I’m pretty sure all the main development was done by Avalanche so they really deserve the credit. I started and love how well designed the world is more than anything. I immediately wished this is the kind of game I could get for Lord of the Rings, at least in attention to detail in the world.
@Red Gaming Ah I see I loved Shadow of War more. Get more of backstory for quite a few Lord of the rings characters. More of a free roam world and new mounts, story is miles better in my opinion too as you get more story of Tailon to experience. Bosses are amazing too. Haven’t played dlc’s for shadow of war they serve as a bit backstory of a few characters too. There’s the Gollum gaming coming out soon if you want to know about his story before events of Lord of the rings too
@Dragoon I liked the first one pretty well. Wasn’t interested in the second one because it seemed more loot heavy and I really wasn’t in the mood for that when it came out. Basically have forgotten about it since. I just am bored with Mordor and want the prettier type of locations to be showcased really well in a game. I have no idea if the second game has any of that or not.
Many reviews are talking about the character progression and level system. Personally, I would have loved to grow up and have gone to the School. I feel like that could have been an interesting way to "level up" and progress your character. Then once you are in your final year (maybe like 1/4 into the game) then the game opens up and starts to give you really powerful magic.
Just a quick clarification portkey is not a studio but a sub title for every project in the wizarding world. The devs are Avalanche Software, they been releasing title since 1996. They were mainly known Disney Infinity and WB pick them up when Disney kill the gaming division.
I think it's great and a good foundation. I'm excited to see how they do the next game if there is one. Perhaps more years at Hogwarts, more enemy types, more varied open world activities.
as a fellow gamer that's never watched any Harry Potter or lord of the rings movies this game is fantastic it's really magical. so don't be afraid of purchasing this one if you've never watched Harry Potter or any of them fantasy titles
@nickromero7140 I'm 38 what's your point. what that I don't watch Harry Potter some people like it some people don't I'm the one that didn't like it. would you like to add anything else
Minor correction. Portkey Games is not a studio, it is a publishing label. Avalanche Software (not Studios!) Is the developer in this instance. It is not their first game, but it is certainly their first game as ambitious as this one. (They were responsible for Disney Infinity and many Disney licensed video games for many years prior.)
I've read the books but I wouldn't say I'm a Harry Potter fan, yet this game still looks extremely fun. It seems like it was made by people who both love the source material and love games which I think is a recipe for a great experience so I am looking forward to it.
@sessy01 not really, I started reading The Wheel of Time in 5th grade. Harry Potter is only extraordinary in that it was far better than what was usually offered for it's intended audience.
Superb review. It details really well the strengths and flaws in this game. Everywhere people are wowed by this new chapter of the Wizarding World. Thank you for your excellent review.
The game is perfect! They could improve the sound. There are areas thar are heavily populated, and it would be a lot of chatter in the backgroun, and then it would suddenly be silent. Also, I wish we were able to have companions as an option like natty and Sébastien come with us on explorations if we want them to.
I bought 4 of them and gave them to my nieces and nephews. I'm waiting for the collector's edition to come in the mail. Best money I've spent in a long time.
I really love the player character in this game. Very likeable and intelligent, and not quippy and sarcastic like whats-her-face from Forspoken. I like that this character doesn't talk like an MCU character. It's unbelievably refreshing.
I'm roughly at the same amount of hours as this review and what's been bothering me the most so far is that it's a very linear story in an open world. I'm surprised it's not mentioned as a con in this video. I feel like developers focused so much on the castle that they forgot to develop the different aspects of being able to play your own character! It's a school and we're playing a teen character, so I was really hoping to get that option for friend/rival modifiers. It's very streamlined, you get a small pot of companions you can befriend and... that's it. I can't see any opportunities to potentially play as e.g. unlikeable hero.
Established studios have destroyed franchises while underrated studios are doing an incredible job with AAA titles. History of work is important but not the end all, be all and this proves that.
I think it ultimately comes down to the fact that the big AAA devs used to have gamers working to make game for gamers, publishers too, but as gaming became more and more of a mainstream piece of media it's started to become a business than just a passion project, which leads to where we're at now. And so the indie devs and smaller dev teams now have the torch passed down to them to make passionate games that not only makes the consumer want to play and enjoy it but to also please the developers who also want to play it.
Haven’t gotten my ps5 yet but this looks incredible and definitely will be one of the first games I’ll be getting. The company really took their time making this as great as possible
I literally can't put this game down. It is amazing. Really loving it so far. Playing on PC, during the early access period performance wasn't great. Lots of frame drops and stuttering during cut scenes etc. But since launch and a big 30gb patch later its working amazing. It's a fantastic looking game.
@x Cams I think something like that would be possible only if they release the Development Tools which I don't think they'll do. Would be awesome, tho.
@FrozenSpark12 as a PC player I wonder if the modding community will do something about adding stats to the items... don't know if that's possible or hard it could be. Would be cool too see
@FrozenSpark12 ah, okay. I understand what you mean now. Sorry, I am not a native English speaker, so sometimes I misunderstand, thank you for explaining 🙂
Great review. There are a few things I wish you had mentioned and I hope you can answer those: 1. Do you over-level quests and enemies, making combat trivial later on? 2. Can you customize the HUD? (Like remove the outlines, enemy health, etc) 3. Are the combat missions open ended? Can you decide how to approach them? (stealth or combat) or does the game force you into combat or only have a few missions where you can stealth them? 3. Are there random encounters in the open world outside Hogwarts? (I mean roaming enemies in the woods and encounters between different factions) or is every single encounter you get is scripted to appear in one spot and is a one-time affair? Thanks for a fantastic review.
I hadnt been so excited for a game to come out in a long time. I tempered my expectations because nowadays its pretty rare that a video game is created with so much care. Im shocked to find out that it was everything i wanted and more. i am constantly just in awe of everything im seeing when i play. I keep constantly saying to myself "this game is so fucking good mann". Ive barely scratched the surface too. 11/10 i dont want to stop playing
I always have to multiply the estimated time in hours on these games by like 5. Because I'll literally sit in the castle looking at every single piece of artwork and piece of furniture, and pet every single cat. And I'll do that for hours before I go on one side quest then come back. I did the same thing in Cyberpunk 2077 and Red Dead Redemption 2.
The only thing I wish is that it was more mature, and we could have a nemesis and relationships in this. I know they want this sold to kids, but in the movies relationships were a thing.
PC player here! The performance issues are my only issue I uncapped the framerate to see how much I could get and would get upwards of 150 in moments with settings on high. I keep 60 fps for the most part, but during CSs and new area loads I drop to 20 even 10 fps. Maybe there will be a fix for this later and honestly it's not unplayable it doesn't mess with my combat or anything just the exploration. Everything else I'm just loving I'm 14 hours in and don't want to stop
The itemization point is valid. My personnal grip so far is things they dumbed down and shouldnt have. You craft one potion during the potion class and the rest is auto. Id like the OPTION to do minigames for potions, then turn it into auto when ive done 50 and I'm sick of it. A bit more involvement in the classes in general would have felt better. But aside from that, no issues. Ive been playing it in fidelity mode and as long as you are doing hogwarts or onfoot exploration, its amazing. No bug so far personnally. 13 hours in 75% field guide pages done ~ around level 20
I have had the odd floating person glitch here and there (and you can tell the difference between an actual floating npc to a glitched floating npc), but apart from that it's been a great game so far.
Usually I hate games that are made like movies, where you end up watching more than playing at times, but, gotta say I am highly impressed with this game, quidditch season being canceled was a big bummer
@kFusion Umm, maybe starting from year 1? Actually going through all 7 years? Taking the OWLs? Careers? Quidditch? There's plenty more - I'm hopeful they add them in DLCs, but this is not what I was led to believe it was. Again, though, once I can get past my preconceived idea of what I thought it was going to be, it's an 8 or 9 out of 10. What's your issue?
Runs super well on my rig, some drops from 120 down to high 90’s but that’s it. I do wonder how the 60 series cards are handling it since most PC gamers have that series.
Will start playing in half an hour. Thanks for the excellent summary. The fact that Fex liked this almost amazes me more than the positive reviews across the board 🤗
Been playing on a 3080 Ti PC. Game looks and runs great. RT on ultra, everything ultra. 3440 x 1440. I do see some fps drops below 60 but that's max settings + RT for ya. A gsync display will smooth those dips out. I'm not a huge Potter fan and never read the books but I like the world and I'm really enjoying this game. For a game that wasn't even on my radar until a month or so ago, I'm impressed.
I hope we get Ghost of Tsushima'd later down the line and get multiplayer duels or something like that added. It's such a missed opportunity to not have duels with friends or some type of multiplayer content
You guys might find this interesting. I'm also playing on PS5, but I'm playing in fidelity mode with ray tracing. So far I have gotten 0 frame drops, 0 pop in, no door swirls & only one minor bug. There are 3 possible reasons for this (or it may take all 3, idk for sure.) 1st, I turned off motion blur. I always do this because lowering performance to do something my eyes do already is silly. 2nd, I turned off depth of field. I do this because it's more realistic. If I look at a distant mountain my eyes will see all it's details. Depth of field will give a more cinematic effect, but it's not my preference & if you want the game to look more like The Witcher you should turn it off as well. The performance boost is just a bonus for me. The 3rd possible reason is the added 2tb ssd the game is loaded on might be a bit faster than the the original. Regardless, the 30 fps so far has been stutter free 100% of the time. I think the graphical boost is worth trying at least. You might be pleasantly surprised.
The only annoyance I have is inventory space. You're only limited to 20 items at the start which is nowhere near enough. Wish they had a chest that stored anything you picked up instead of preventing you from picking up the item. The main story is ok but where the game really shines is the details and overall gameplay. Flying on your broom and seeing Hogwarts just makes me smile all the time. This is a dream for HP fans. Lots of things to do in the game also which is great. For me it's a solid 8/10. Would've gotten higher if the main story was a little more interesting.
I honestly think the magic in Forspoken looks to have far more variety, which I've played the demo for-haven't played this. This looks mostly just like projectiles whereas in Forspoken you have magic weapons, short & long range, things you can summon, giant AOE. The combat in this looks mostly just shoot a spell at your enemy or maybe throw an item & try to parry. And your mostly just standing in place, obviously in Forspoken it's far more dynamic. Plus I heard most of the enemies are human, I'd rather fight giant creatures. This seems like nostalgia bait that will get old pretty quick where Forspoken seems to be trying new things. Although this seems like you have more spells mapped at once which is a plus. Just not sure about this one.
I myself know nothing substantial about HP, beyond the obvious that is, never read any of the books, seen or been interested in the movies, yet this game has actually convinced me to grab a Deluxe copy, it looks gorgeous, attention to detail in every, and any aspect looks to be a labor of love on the part of the devs. I doubt ill ever remember a characters name, but just have to delve into this exciting world. Also, the performance and optimization on PC looks solid and balanced, and remarkably bug free. it's going to be a blast i'm sure
Immensely glad that this game is so well received. Haven't pre-ordered a game in so long because its a huge gamble now-a-days. But I did pick this one up, and really happy to hear it's worth it. Hope the devs get compensated well :)
Hearing buttery smooth at 60 fps as a pc snob hurts but this game looks incredibly fun, and your video quality is top notch! Much respect and thank you
This might sound weird but I feel like I'd almost prefer if the items didn't have any stats at all? Like, it doesn't fit with the world super well, it makes the game feel more like the dozens of other loot collectathons out there, and considering it's a game about a student attending school I think them being purely cosmetic would make a lot of sense.
It’s looking pretty good to me! A have a month off soon from my job and I’m fairly certain this will be 1 of the games I play on my break also Dead Space Remake. On a side note this game looks really really nice, I know a Bloodborne sequel is very unlikely from Fromsoft… maybe this company could tackle another BB game? Ha thanks for the video
As someone who enjoyed the movies but never got super hooked on Harry Potter I gotta say this has been great. As of right now I'm giving Hogworts legacy an 8.7/10. I still have maybe 8-10 spells to unlock and a bunch more content to explore, but I'm feeling pretty comfortable with the gameplay loop. It's feeling like a more enjoyable Witcher 3 to me, that's a game I put about 80-90 hours into, whereas I expect to at least play this game a couple times. It's more impressive than I thought it would be for sure, and while I still prefer the exploration of BotW, the quests of Skyrim and the overall package of Elden Ring I think this is the best 'balanced' open world experience I've had. I've enjoyed exploration, I've enjoyed the characters/quests, I like the combat and the abilities, and I love the cosmetic customization.
@Fextralife Very excited! I am however wondering how/when mounts come into play? Are they a complete replacement for the broom? You also didn't mention any of the story/RPG mechanics in the game. Are there any? What about the companions? I'm disappointed you mostly talked about their world building and loot.
I’ll give credit when credit is due and with the disastrous release of almost every anticipated game of the last few years (except a handful like Elden Ring) this release was spot on. A few improvements which I’m sure we can expect 100% in the future like the Loot and itemization overhaul. maybe even school/ castle upgrades or a custom castle editor. Overall I think a very successful launch with tons of room for improvements over the next few months/years
thank you for posting a review with no spoilers. for the first time in my life I have pre-ordered a game (mainly so I can play it at just after midnight on the 7th of Feb (which is a mere 8 hours away!)). I have made sure that I need do naught for the next 4 days, other than play Legacy and smoke Jazz cigarettes. Can't wait.

This game is horrible. Reevaluate your standards.
@coruviel He needs his ‘Moon On Stick’. Feature creep has killed many games development. Plenty of football games out there and they can take as much development time to get right as Hogwarts Legacy. @TheZelkhan not been my experience at all. A couple of times a cutscene has had weirdly low fps/stuttering but there's been nothing major.
@Ramrod bLDM do you want a tissue?
It's incredible. It's almost like no two pieces of furniture are alike. The level of detail is mind blowing.
@MisterHello yeah, that is a bit disappointing. I was hoping for Rdr2 levels of interaction with classmates from my house. At least let me sit down and eat at the Great Hall
untill you try to interact with an NPC
Thank you so much for the spoiler free review. The only review i watched without skipping to the verdict.
Skillup, fextra and ACG are all gold . Angry joe reviews are pretty good as well(only issue being he is a bit more selective than ACG when it comes to selecting games to review)
Gameranx and Skill Up are great review places too!
ACG and Fextra are my two primary sources for good reviews and always great content.
In the future, if they release DLC, I'd like quests around Halloween and Christmas. To see Hogwarts decorated for Christmas? Magical. Can't wait to get a PS5 and this will probably be the first game I play.
@inteii well, they(main characters)were celebrating Christmas in Harry Potter films and books, too, as far as I remember. So, yeaa..
Not to be that guy, but is there Christianity in the Harry Potter universe?
@pmmattos have been blowing up pumpkins in game so not a problem.
Dude... That kind of stuff is not DLC, it should be in the game! That kind of expectation shows how normalised this has become
Me too! I just bought my PS5 and this game was first! Just started but it looks dope as hell🔥🔥

@HorkBork M I have the game and the outside world is amazing!!!!!
@HorkBork M to be fair, building an open world is hard as is. Making one that isn't just a normal generic one, is even harder.
They were so honest too which was rare. Telling us what is and isn’t in the game. That’s when I became confident
it still looks like a "ubisoft world"
i hope its playable without minimap and markers
@Quatro Bajeena because witcher 3 has an amazing plot

Thank you for giving a spoiler free review. Kudos to whole avalanche software for giving a game which we needed.
@Ansh 😄😄🤝
@PRANKLIZER None taken at all my man. It was good of you to point that out. Avalanche Software have worked hard on this game and it is their first major title and credits should be given to the correct studio.
@Ansh 😇🤜🤛
Actually, this is the first time Avalanche Software has developed something big and great, thats why I corrected you. No offence brother.
@Juan Garcia Just forwarded the right info and made sure that the appreciation goes to the actual developer. Any problem in that?
@Markus Schmidt worked for GOW: Ragnarok
As a mild HP fan but a big RPG fan I’m going to have to try this game for myself
Stop saying this garbage in every comment section
@JustYouCalmDownSon I can safely say that I had a grin on my face the entire opening, and I still do. There are so many little touches to make this a standout. As for it making me appreciate the more more….yup HL sunk its teeth into me
It isn't a good rpg game really though, it's good if you like harry potter but, everything else is like your run of the mill ps2 movie base game.
@JustYouCalmDownSonafter book 3 Harry Potter starts to get into the real deal stuff more for ages 16+ and a more mature feel.
4 hours in on pc and I'm blown away , we are gifted with an amazing game created with love and passion ❤️
We should be happy and grateful 🙏
I can't wait to get back to playing
What a great review! Just put in 30hrs in the game and they really nailed it!

And they cosmetically look cool
I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve explored so far. There seems to be a bunch of outfits cause I have a bunch in only like 8 hours of gameplay. And I like how they did the customization for the outfits. You can change the look of any piece of gear to something you have found or unlocked that you might like the look of better but has bad stats
@witchkid66 Same.
as long as i have lots of outfit choices I could care less about the stats 😂
Itemization/Loot also feels like something a series of patches could easily and steadily improve on. I don't think it makes a huge difference out of the gate if they rest of it is a hit.
We've been asking for this since we were kids. this is truly a dream come true. we've had so many hours of fun that we'll probably be sorry to see it end. a true adversary for TLOZ Tears of the kingdom.
As much as this game has met and exceeded our expectations I am very much looking forward to the sequels. If this is supposed to be a trilogy then I really think they can make a GOTD.
Not a fan of Harry Potter but I am enjoying this game for sure.
played 6 hours so far and loving it! Story is fun, level design is amazing. It is clipping a little on Series X but to me so far it is a 9 out of 10
Great review! The devs stated there will be no micro transactions, the only extra payment so far is for the Deluxe edition items. That’s it they said.
@Lee Everett Yess hopefully so !!
I'm sure they'll release a DLC expansion, probably won't be for a year though.
Thank you for a Spolier Free review, Im so pumped to play it tonight!
Since watching the films back to back over the last few days, I just have to have this game. It looks and sounds excellent.
I think we all did that
Very fair-handed review. Thank you for the great work :)
Don’t know exactly how development went myself but I’m pretty sure all the main development was done by Avalanche so they really deserve the credit.
I started and love how well designed the world is more than anything. I immediately wished this is the kind of game I could get for Lord of the Rings, at least in attention to detail in the world.
@Dragoon Thanks! I’m not excited for the Gollum game but may try out shadow of war whenever I’m interested since it’s probably a lot cheaper now
@Red GamingIt’s a more bigger Mordor to explore with more areas if I remember. Shadow of Mordor only allowed a small section to explode
Have you not played either of the Middle Earth games? They are absolutely incredible and amazing
Im actually excited to load this onto my PC. The world seems very lived in & the way combat looks has me hooked.
“You just want to take your time and go through it” sounds like my kind of a game ❤❤❤
It's SO fun, I love it so far! Even the collections are kind of fun, it encourages exploration, and exploration IS also fun!
Just a quick clarification portkey is not a studio but a sub title for every project in the wizarding world. The devs are Avalanche Software, they been releasing title since 1996. They were mainly known Disney Infinity and WB pick them up when Disney kill the gaming division.
150% more excited to take this for a spin after this video. Thank you!
I hope there’s a sequel, I’d love another hogwarts legacy as 6th or 7th year or maybe a Professor where we relive memories in hogwarts.

Man your critique was much needed, on point and relevant
I think it's great and a good foundation. I'm excited to see how they do the next game if there is one. Perhaps more years at Hogwarts, more enemy types, more varied open world activities.

as a fellow gamer that's never watched any Harry Potter or lord of the rings movies this game is fantastic it's really magical. so don't be afraid of purchasing this one if you've never watched Harry Potter or any of them fantasy titles
@nickromero7140 I'm 38 what's your point. what that I don't watch Harry Potter some people like it some people don't I'm the one that didn't like it. would you like to add anything else
Never watched Harry Potter or Lord Of The Rings? How old are you? Two?
Highly recommend playing Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War they are both incredible and amazing Lord of the Rings games
It's so much fun! it really takes me to the Harry Potter Universe I love it
I've read the books but I wouldn't say I'm a Harry Potter fan, yet this game still looks extremely fun. It seems like it was made by people who both love the source material and love games which I think is a recipe for a great experience so I am looking forward to it.
@OrigamiKnife Rowling did indeed strike gold in that audience. How is wheel of time anyway?
@sessy01 not really, I started reading The Wheel of Time in 5th grade. Harry Potter is only extraordinary in that it was far better than what was usually offered for it's intended audience.
@sessy01this is me. Was never exactly blown away by the books but I’ve always wanted to go into this world.
If not the main story, would you say youre a fan of the lore and the storybuilding from the harry potter "world"?
I've been loving this game so far. It's so damn good and I wanna spend as much time in the world as possible.

I got my wife this, and she is so excited, I can't wait to watch her make her character tonight.
Hope she’s enjoying it! I definitely am
Finally another game worth its price. Looks like I’ll be milking this one for the next 2-3 years at least.
@Hombre Malo to bad. Inflation.
@Nive Yoga kidboy the game is only good if you like harry potter
@Hombre Malo its not
@sam hammond where the hell are YOU going lol movies are expensive af I stay in Florida
It isn't prefect if there's room for improvement =_=
I bought 4 of them and gave them to my nieces and nephews. I'm waiting for the collector's edition to come in the mail. Best money I've spent in a long time.
Excited to play and glad to hear that even the skeptics and non HP fans are enjoying this game.
@Riley Cry FNAF fanboy
its fascist propaganda

Really well done review! Fair, balanced and interesting - always appreciate your thoughts!
Can we just talk about how dorky great the outfits are in this game 💖
I’m stupid excited for this game. I had to pre-order the Deluxe Edition for my PS5 a while back. 🎉
I literally can't put this game down. It is amazing. Really loving it so far. Playing on PC, during the early access period performance wasn't great. Lots of frame drops and stuttering during cut scenes etc. But since launch and a big 30gb patch later its working amazing. It's a fantastic looking game.
The good thing is that better loot stats can be easily implemented in a patch
@Damion Duffy 👍🙂👍
@tremor230 that's exactly what I meant 👍🏻
@x Cams I think something like that would be possible only if they release the Development Tools which I don't think they'll do. Would be awesome, tho.
@FrozenSpark12 as a PC player I wonder if the modding community will do something about adding stats to the items... don't know if that's possible or hard it could be. Would be cool too see
@FrozenSpark12 ah, okay.
I understand what you mean now.
Sorry, I am not a native English speaker, so sometimes I misunderstand, thank you for explaining 🙂
Love the review, made me happy to hear they didn’t mess it up. Also love that outro music!
Great review. There are a few things I wish you had mentioned and I hope you can answer those:
1. Do you over-level quests and enemies, making combat trivial later on?
2. Can you customize the HUD? (Like remove the outlines, enemy health, etc)
Enemies scale to your level. No you can customize the HUD somewhat. Yes you can decide how to approach most of them. Seem to be random encounters yes.

Judging by the cosmetics shown, I'm guessing the in-game store will be the source of fits that actually look cool/not goofy.
I'm just glad this game turned out to be good after all the skepticism.
It's so nice to play a game that you can tell people enjoyed making!
So hyped to play this tonight I’m glad it’s doing well
Im not a fan of the series but I do like wizards, so cant wait to give this a try
I've only ever seen a couple of the films, but I'm tempted to give this game a try, it looks great!
@Bush Monster I know, not read the books, just seen a couple of the films.
they are books.
Usually I hate games that are made like movies, where you end up watching more than playing at times, but, gotta say I am highly impressed with this game, quidditch season being canceled was a big bummer
I like games like that .. I hate having to read what’s going on instead of seeing it
That could potentially come in a dlc or even in the next installment of the franchise as the devs have said they want to make a trilogy.
It IS fabulous- I'd probably give it a solid 8 or 9 out of 10.
I think I'm just slightly bummed that it's not the FULL Hogwarts experience.
How is it not? What more could you possibly want?
Runs super well on my rig, some drops from 120 down to high 90’s but that’s it. I do wonder how the 60 series cards are handling it since most PC gamers have that series.
Glad you give real reviews not sell out ones saying how amazing the game is. You actually break down things like activities being the same and gear.
I was a little skeptical at first but the reviews so far have been good. I may actually end up buying it. Thank you for the hands on review BTW.
Will start playing in half an hour. Thanks for the excellent summary.
The fact that Fex liked this almost amazes me more than the positive reviews across the board 🤗
@Simon Tye I live in Australia and the deluxe version drops at midnight AEST.
@Simon Tye probably switching regions.
How?

I was waiting patiently for your review. Off to preorder the deluxe
Also, the performance and optimization on PC looks solid and balanced, and remarkably bug free. it's going to be a blast i'm sure
i havent watched this yet, only liked it, but i got a question, how good is the haptic feedback and dual sense ? is it truly magical!
Much respect and thank you
This game definitely did its job. As someone who's never watched the movies, or read the books I still want to play this. So, kudos to the developers.
Im excited for the castle exploration.
Now for a company where this is their first game, I think it’s impressive
Great review. I’m so excited to get lost in this world.
I've been playing this game for about 7 hours; IT HAS BEEN AMAZING. IT's everything we have wanted in our childhood AND MORE :)
@Nathan Barnhart i bought the deluxe edition i simply could not wait and its tooo good
@PSYCHO PAT ah fair enough. I pre purchased it, can’t wait for Friday
@Nathan Barnhart have to have deluxe edition preordered for 3 days early access it officially comes out Friday.
Is it out? I’m showing it’s not out yet
getting my physical PS5 deluxe version this afternoon! this review and ACG's were the ones I was waiting for.
I've enjoyed exploration, I've enjoyed the characters/quests, I like the combat and the abilities, and I love the cosmetic customization.
all right this was the review i waited for, so now i can pre order without a bad feeling. thank you
@Fextralife Very excited! I am however wondering how/when mounts come into play? Are they a complete replacement for the broom? You also didn't mention any of the story/RPG mechanics in the game. Are there any? What about the companions? I'm disappointed you mostly talked about their world building and loot.
I can't wait to play this! Tomorrow can't come fast enough.
I feel like this game is going to make me cry just because of immersion. I read every book and saw every movie at midnight release.
@Fextralife I genuinely never would have imagined we’d get a HP game that’s this good.
You might...I had goosebumps...
Can't wait.
