Here we are with Order of the Phoenix and it just keeps getting better! This just might be the best one yet! What important parts did the books have that weren’t in the movies? Full Reactions on Patreon: www.patreon.com/posts/early-access-and-66061513?
Sorry if this is late. The reason why Harry and Luna can see the skeleton horsies is because they can only be seen by people who have witnessed death. Harry saw Cedric die, that was his first. So when he went back to Hogwarts, he can see them. There is so much in the books too about Luna.
In the book McGonagall is very sceptical of Trelawney's abilities. The fact that she comes to Trelawney's defense thus has greater meaning in the story.
Can we just take a moment to give props to Daniel Radcliffe? His screams after losing Sirius had to be muted because he had everyone in tears including the Bellatrix actress.😭💔
@Hilary Wilkes The video they're referring to isn't true. Someone just put anguished screams over the OotP footage and claimed it's his actual screams but it's not. Huge misconception. The part about someone he knew dying close to filming might be true but it's hard to know what about it is true considering some claims are indefinitely false.
In the books, Harry’s discovery that his dad bullied snape hit him really hard. He couldn’t help comparing it to him and Dudley. So he reaches out to Sirius and Lupin. They confirm that James was a bully in school but he grew out of it like so many do. Harry was worried that James coerced Lily into marrying him somehow since she hated him so much from the memory he saw. Sirius and Lupin reassured him that in the end James matured and they really did fall in love
@Lia so horrible that Dumbledore trust him enough to make him defense of the dark arts teacher amongst other things that Dumbledore trusted him for. But you are right as long as the person you're bullying is horrible in any way shape or fashion according to societal Norms go ahead. And I don't know why you're telling me to be nice to others as long as the people I'm not being nice to are not nice themselves it's all good right. And why bring up his involvement in Blackmagic considering he becomes a professor to teach children. how to defend against it, that's just like weed be illegal for all those years and the countless upon countless individuals spending life in prison for selling it so now soccer moms can sell it and anyone can buy it at a corner store but yes.
@Auset Shnaiun no defense for bullying, but Snape wasn’t just “emo” he was a bigot. He was already into dark magic and was anti-muggles and muggleborns (Lily was the only exception). He also repeatedly targeted Remus for being a werewolf. They were horrible to each other, and Snape was horrible to more than just James. Not to mention that James grew out of it. Snape didn’t. He still bullies kids as an adult. Idk I’m sure James was a douche, but Snape was awful. Edit: I’ve just seen some of your other comments and yikes. Be better to others.
Bro I’m sorry but Dumbledore coming in with the “Foolish of you to come here tonight, Tom” is the most badass thing of all time, calling him by his given name and not his dumb edgelord name
One detail that was changed from the books is how Harry wards off Voldemort when being possessed. In the movie it was the power of friendship, but in the books Harry thinks of his friends to no effect, and then he thinks "If I die, at least I'll get to see Sirius again" and at that instant Voldemort retreats. Voldemort can't stand to share Harry's GRIEF at losing Sirius, that's what drives him out.
It was love. Voldemort doesn't and can't feel love, it repels him and in its purest form is a powerful magic. It's an extension of how Lily protected Harry... that's one thing the movies couldn't/ didn't capture as well as the books.... the 'love' magic throughout.
@Risa Plays You will find over and over that everyone says that about actors who portray evil people. Apparently, the fellow who played Joffrey in GoT is a polite, sweet young man. There’s a reason for that. Only a good person can accurately play someone sinister, because a good person understands why the behavior is evil. A bad person lives that way, so doesn’t really get how to tap into it. Now, that’s obviously a very blanket statement and there are exceptions. (Kevin Spacey comes to mind- one of the greatest actors ever and turns out he’s a real life monster), but GENERALLY speaking, that’s the reason we hear so often that a performer who plays evil is actually a sweetheart in real life.
@Deniz Kenger mhm, understandable. I didn't know what to feel when I saw those 4 bullied Snape and made his childhood hell. I agree, it was pathetic. I still don't hate him tho, since he was kinda Harry's only family left ig? (Well I mean he died too)
@ZayTaz partly but it’s more what Sirius tried to do on his own to Snape as well. (Talking about the attempted murder). And his behaviour as an adult as well. Coz It’s not just that I don’t think Sirius is a good person that I don’t like him. He’s also pretty much useless, irresponsible, has more negative impacts to his side than positives, dishonest, hypocritical, deluded, shows cowardice in school years. Voldemort is my favourite character despite being evil. Sirius on the other hand is someone I see as evil but also just so pathetic.
"Stab her in the throat with it potter" It wasn't much. That is exactly how majority of us feel Dolores umbridge is the MOST HATED character in this series. Even more than voldemort Kudos to the actress for doing such a great job.
The scariest thing about Umbridge is that she has a real-life counterpart. Adriana LaGrange, the Minister of Education for the province of Alberta, Canada, bears both a physical and an ideological resemblance to Umbridge. Someone photoshopped her face onto Umbridge's body and it's easy not to notice (especially as LaGrange was fond of wearing pink). And when Umbridge made that condescending speech about passing tests being the whole point of attending school, it gave me the shudders - that's how LaGrange thinks. Just memorize the facts (even if they're incorrect) and regurgitate them on tests.
@terry landess I sometimes get the creepy idea that those kitten plates aren't animated pictures of kittens, but real ones that were trapped and are meowing frantically for someone to rescue them.
@KammyWalks Staunton and Smith were both in the Downton Abbey movie, playing adversaries. I half-expected wands to be drawn (it would make a hilarious crossover; after all, some of the cast of Downton Abbey did a Star Wars crossover film for charity).
@jbreezy101 Technically she didn't petition her for the role. She had written to her before the movies started and they exchanged letters about the books.
I believe you guys are 100% correct on the "emotional range of a teaspoon" scene. The line was scripted but, the laughter after was not, they decided to keep it in because it genuinely fit the scene.
There is an interview somewhere I can't remember where but that scene was unscripted and improvised by Emma Watson and the laugh was perfect for the scene so they kept it in
In the book, it is Cho's friend Marietta whose mother works for the ministry and tells Umbridge about the DA classes, under the threat of her getting fired. Hermione cast a charm on the registration list they signed which meant that Marietta was permanently scarred with the word "SNEAK" across her forehead. It's a ruthless, actually quite vindictive side to Hermione that you don't really see in the movies, and it ends Harry's relationship with Cho when he sides with Hermione.
I love that even Stephen King, creator of so many horror novels and villains, said “the gently smiling Dolores Umbridge, with her girlish voice, toadlike face, and clutching, stubby fingers, is the greatest make-believe villain to come along since Hannibal Lecter”
@P oh yeah definitely! While, yeah out there in the world there are definitely bad guys with the same views as Voldi, not many get face to face with them. But a cruel teacher? Everyone has experienced this!
The scene where Harry yells “LOOK AT ME” towards dumbledore always gives me chills, it shows just how easily Voldemort can infiltrate Harry’s mind and use his anger and hurt against him, in that scene Harry’s mind connected with Voldemort’s, basically making Harry half Voldemort, which is truly terrifying. Amazing acting by Daniel Radcliffe
@Nic Name Unfortunately I don't have access to the computer with all the lovely HP fanfiction bookmarks. I can try to find it, though. I only read HP stories on two sites, so it shouldn't be impossible to find. When I do (she said optimistically), I'll leave another reply. I don't think I can post actual links, though, since the last time I tried the system here wouldn't let them go through. But I should be able to give you the website, author, and title.
@Shubhika I'll have to give that one a read. I think my fave one has got to be All the Young Dudes, which just... completely broke me when I read in the summer. I love the ATYD Marauders so much, you really watch them grow up.
Harry's dad didn't say "Moody" in the Snape's flashback, he said "Mooney," referring to Lupin who's a Werewolf. Not sure if you boys pieced it together, but the Marauders Map from the third film was created my the "Messers Mooney, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs" the four Messers being Lupin, Peter Pettigrew/Scabbers, Uncle Sirius, and Daddy Potter respectively.
@lyds6382 really? I thought it was like “they are a group of messers” which they were. The map recognising the twins as messers as well. It just fit 😂 never looked closely enough to see it was messrs
...and then when you consider that you have The Half-Blood Prince in the same class who improved on all those spells in "Harry's" book and even wrote his own brilliant spells...so many over-achievers in their class.
I think its rare to see an absolutely honest review & we always get that from you three! Honestly the fact umbridge made us hate her in this movie more than voldemorts character ever did just tells how absolutely amazing the actress is! So excited to see the next 3 again with you guys, it’s going to be a real rollercoaster of emotions now on.
Imelda Staunton is fantastically talented. I've seen her do comedy, drama, musicals. She can make you cheer, and she can break your heart. Which makes the fact she made Umbridge so hateful that much more amazing.
@Badd Medicine She gets her comeuppance in fan fiction. Most fan authors either have her killed off in some gruesome way or they send her to Azkaban (one fan writer postulated that there's a standard sentence for assault via blood quill, which is increased if the victim is a minor... the fact that Umbridge used this punishment repeatedly on so many kids meant that her consecutive sentences added up to over 800 years in Azkaban.
@Angel Yes she had a massive lawsuit over the people who wrote a fanfic about Lupin and Sirius which technically she had the right to because they tried to make money off of it but still after she won that, the 5th book was released and yeah...clearly she took it out on the fans which is psychotic.
Let me actually explain this properly for you. People aren’t explaining the muggle thing. What happens in the wizard world DOES affect the muggle world. The muggles just don’t know what’s going on. Wizards use charms and memory modification to cover up all wizarding activity that has been noticed by muggles. There are only SOME things they don’t see. Like Dementors and charmed items like the knight bus. Ron’s Dad’s ENTIRE JOB usually involves modifying muggle memories and fixing mishaps that have happened. In the book they don’t fly down the river. They fly way up in the sky so nobody will see them. Sometimes they use charms that turn them almost invisible, but they can’t do this in the movie. There are charms on hogwarts that make the building look abandoned to muggles, and also force them to turn around and go another direction, having suddenly remembered that they have something important to do. Cool stuff.
Just to add to your comment. Another example of things in the Wizarding world affecting the Muggle world. But the muggles not understanding what's really happening. Would be the Dementors. They can't see them tho can still be attacked by them and feel when dementors are around.. even if they don't know know what's causing it. Muggles will find any excuse to ignore magic.
@Baron Brummbär No, generally Fudge is the one interacting with the Muggle Minister. But Kingsley is assigned as security detail for the Muggle Minister after OotP
I've got to say I love the way you guys do your reactions. So many reactors end their video as soon as what they are reacting to ends. It's great to hear you guys spending 15-20 minutes discussing the film at the end and sharing your thoughts.
It's so sad from Lupins perspective as well. He had 4 best friends and he thought 3 were murdered by the other one when they were 21 and so he was left all alone. Then he finds out his best friend was wrongly incarcerated for 13 years, gets him back for like a year and then once more his best friend is murdered.
29:35 also that's why Neville is so bothered in Moody's class last year. Him seen the effects of the cruciatus curse for the first time, made him think of how his parent's where tortured into going insane. the pain is descrived as "white-hot knives piercing every inch of your skin"
Watching 3 grown men cheer for a mistletoe kiss killed me😂😂😂 loving these reactions more and more with each movie, and I think the oak has the best character arc in this series 🤣
In the book, Hermione did an advanced magic called the Protean Charm on galleons (Wizard coin currency) and gave them to all the DA members so they could communicate and set dates for their DA lessons without having to talk to each other in the hallways since Umbridge and the Inquisitorial squad are keeping an eye on them. On the outside, it would look like a regular galleon with serial numbers so it does not look suspicious. If a date is set for another meeting, the coin will grow hot so the could feel it in their pockets, then the inconspicuous serial numbers would show the date of the meeting. One Ravenclaw DA member was so impressed with Hermione that he asked her why she wasn’t sorted into Ravenclaw since she’s clearly very smart. She answered that the sorting hat did consider putting her in Ravenclaw but in the end decided to sort her into Gryffindor. I guess her bravery outweighted her intelligence and for someone with Hermione’s brain, that’s saying a lot.
I haven´t read the comments so I don´t know if anyone has explained the deal with them always having new Defence Against the Dark Arts teachers. It´s said that after Voldemort graduated from Hogwarts, he wanted the position of DADA teacher but Dumbledore kept turning him down. As revenge, he cursed the position so that no one would be able to hold the teaching position more than a year.
Ron and Hermione's face when they see harry being possessed by Voldemort always gets me. They feel so powerless and yet they never lose hope or question their love for Harry. "You're the weak one. And you'll never know love. Or friendship. And I feel sorry for you".
The trio’s love for each other always makes me so weepy, especially in the books! I love the moments where harry gets hit with the realization that, “damn, these two like REALLY REALLY love me?? A concept!”
The one thing I probably miss most about the books is Harry's sass. He is so sassy in the books and some of what he says is just amazing. Example, "There's no need to call me sir, professor." If you read the books, you know what I'm talking about.
There's a scene in the book that brought me to tears and I'm so mad they didn't put in the movie. It was a scene where Neville visits his mom in the hospital in his birthday, and she's barely lucid. She gives him a gum wrapper as a birthday gift and he just looks at her sadly and says "thanks, mom" (something like that). I cried so much in this scene.
@OldSchoolGenius That bit, where Neville kept it because, even though it was just a gum wrapper it was from his mom, was so beautiful and heartbreaking.
Yes, Voldemort sees the muggles as animals. Their only purpose, according to his and wizards like him, is to be slaves to the wizards. So ultimately if Voldemort would manage to get the upper hand he would enslave all the muggles and there you have your impact. :)
@Makkaru112 harrypotter folklore channel is a fan channel though. No more factual than what I say or you say as long as you debate with sources from books.
@renjun is a smol ball of fluff they accepted him as he earned his place but also began to fear him and Lucius and or his father literally was a mentor to him when he was a student in Hogwarts so Lucius slowly lost his original respect for Tom when he started to change and warp internally and externally so it became a fear based relationship to ignore that he was halfblood. Which many of the witches and wizaeds who are most pure are muggleborn believe it or not, the magic comes from somewhere. Not to mention those with Vila blood like Luna and even Dracos family has a percentage of vila as well.
@Jack Brian he actually never wanted to harm Nomages. He was literally wanting to coexist without being in fear and hiding for centuries out of time. The muggle issues wasn't even from Salazar either who was only suspicious of those mating with muggles who for the most part were being used to Infiltrate the magical world. Think of the many secret passageways in and out of the castle, it was to get the students of all lineages to escape all kinds of bad things. Hogwarts was a safe place to be made into a fortress, Rowena herself had a vision that lead her there and it's in full detail in video and on the official site archives of the original pottermore
The biggest thing i missed was a part in the books where harry goes to visit Ron's dad at the hospital after the attack and he witnesses Neville visiting his parents who don't even recognize him because the cruciatus curse tortured them so much they went completely crazy, and that interaction is absolutely heartbreaking which gives Neville so much depth. The books just have soooo much more stuff as a 31 year old woman i still listen to thr audiobooks all the time.
They muted Harry's scream when Sirius died because they felt that Daniel's scream was too hard to watch, too emotional and painful. He performed TOO well and they wanted to keep it in visually but make it slightly less traumatizing.
As far as Trelawney goes, she's the one that told the prophecy about Harry and Voldemort. Dumbledore brought her in as a teacher to keep her safe, but her fortune telling is more of a "gift" rather than a skill. She can't control it, she just randomly goes into a trance and tells it just like you saw in PoA. It's been awhile since I've read the books but as far as I remember she's only ever told those 2 prophecies, she's not a very good teacher but Dumbledore wanted to protect her.
@jbreezy101 thanks for explaining, because I wasn’t completely sure however what I remember she was sentenced and later sent to Azkaban for the rest of the life 😬
I love your genuine reactions!! It’s so cool to see 3 grown ups watching for the first time some things that I loved when I was a teenager. Read the books, they’re rich!!
I love how The Oak started off as the one who was the most distant and critical in regard to these movies, and now he seems like a bigger fan than the other two. He is completely hooked.
Movie Ginny is soo disliked (simply bc she doesn't do her justice) but that scene when they're in the Ministry of Magic and she does that spell, ahh it''s the closest to the bad ass book Ginny we were robbed of. Also Luna's appearance in this movie is just *chefs kiss* her and Harry's friendship is so genuine (as expected, they are both very down to earth people). Looking forward to Half-Blood Prince it's my second favorite of the series!
I love that you love Luna as people mentioned she's a Ravenclaw and a bit like people in Gryrindoor don't see what Nevil does as bravery i don't think kids in Ravenclaw recognize her as intelligent just because it's not the classic bookish sort. She's knowledgeable about things that interest her, she's very creative and single minded and i think that last one is what gives her strength too. She's never trying to be like others or prove something to them so she's ok on her own and the few people that love her for who she is - whimsy and all , are gonna be the right people.
The fact that when you guys don’t understand something instead of dismissing it you ask for an explanation in the comments has definitely earned my respect!!! Definitely earned a sub from me! My fav Harry Potter reactions so far
Neville's wand was inherited from his father, Frank Longbottom, as he was unable to use it, because the wand was loyal to Frank. This is why Neville had troubles with spells and it was such a big deal for him to finally be able to use the wand.
@Langley Ackermanno he just got good enough to overcome a lackluster match with his wand. It also breaks during the ministry battle and he finally gets a new one after this.
Neville was bad because he wasn't very good at magic in general. He was also bad in potions. Not every wand performs bad just because it wasn't won. Harry never had any issues with Hermione's wand for instance even though he never won it from her. I suspect wands can perform for a trusted ally. We already know they can recognize an enemy (when Harry's wand destroys Lucious wand because it recognized Voldemort) Ron had no real issues with magic in the first year and only had issues in the 2nd year because his wand snapped.
@lilyrose Also that wand was made of ashwood and unicorn hair. That combination is famous for being very attached to their owner and never really work well with somebody else, neither when taken by force or given away willingly.
I know I am very late to this reaction series but you all are so genuine in your reactions and have enjoyed watching you all in this reaction series. One thing not sure was mentioned that is discussed in the books is why Voldemort chose Harry because in the books the prophecy could have meant 2 boys born as the 7th month dies whose parents had thwarted Voldemort 3 times.....Harry Potter or Neville Longbottom. Voldemort decided to go after Harry whose mother is muggleborn and dad was wizard born instead of Neville who was pure blood. He marked Harry as his equal with the scar. I do like the movies but to me they are a cliff notes version of the books just too much to be included. I would love to know if any of you actually did read any of the books or even listen on Audible. Jim Dale who narrates is awesome I actually listen now instead of reading the narrator is so good.
Another great movie reaction. Watching The Oak's gradual evolution on his thoughts of the series has been the best part. The next movie is tied in first for my favorite; it's possibly the most emotionally-complex of all eight. I hate that I have to wait a week to see the next reaction, but I also can't wait! Keep up the good work guys!
NON-SPOILER for Snape - Snape's Worst Memory is far more horrific in the book. There is an additional person there which I won't disclose as it spoils, but James and Co bullied Snape from the first train ride to their first year simply because Severus expressed his wish to be in Slytherin. That memory you saw, was far worse in the books. It was after exams in their fifth year, and Severus was attacked unprovoked because Sirius said he was bored. James disarmed, choked, and strung him upside down, proceeding to strip him of his pants = underwear in British terms (not trousers, as the films say) in front of a cheering mob. When this other person (which I won't name) says to James angrily "what's he ever done to you?" then James responds with something like "Well it's the fact that he exists if you know what I mean". Quite a horrific scene. James always attacked Severus with his friends by his side, and never by himself. The Marauders always bullied Severus. It was never a rivalry (despite popular belief in the fandom, but there is no evidence to suggest it was a rivalry) as Severus was always attacked 1 vs 2-4. He only ever fought back in self-defense and instigated nothing. James bullied others as well going as far as to use illegal spells, it's just that Severus was his favorite target. Sirius still taunts Severus with his nickname even in adulthood.
@lily mikaelson that just shows how severe the bullying was that Snape never recovered from it... The fact that Snape still relives those memories just shows how much it affected him...
@Lexie Bear I'd go as far as to say that either argument is illogical and the marauders time is barely explored upon and always from a biased perspective either way, for you to say that the little we see of young James is more cruel than young Draco is just baffling. But assuming your correct, the level of cruelty and bitterness ADULT Snape takes out onto the literal children he's in charge of, that has got to outrank that. Harry would never treat Scorpius the way Snape treated Harry, and that's a hill I'm willing to die on.
@Michelle Linardis All of this plus the Marauders literally had a map that showed where everyone in the school was at. Snape could never hide from them.
@Lexie Bear Snape knew more curses in his first year than most 7th years" he was turning to the dark side even before he joined Hogwarts, so the reason James and Sirius bullied Snape was because he wanted to be a death eater
@Lexie Bear "which is something Draco never came close to doing" didn't he attack Harry unprovoked in GoF which caused barty crouch jr to turn him into a ferret????
This is one of the most important movies/books in the series. Goblet of Fire may have had Voldemort rise again, but this part of the series really sets up the tone, and the high stakes, for the remainer of the story arc.
And, i read in an interview somewhere too years back, JK was also going through a bit of a writer's block (4 years after book 4, and massive success bcos this was when hp also took off) and personal crisis, so you can really also feel how the book's tone shifted at the same time - the juxtapositions of being known by everyone but still feeling alone. The first few chapters really captured what it looked like to be in a depressed state, which i found for me, helpful because it put into words what i was also feeling inside. And... At the ending scene, ends with a hopeful note, something worth fighting for. Like, yeah, you might be feel bad and really really not up for it, but you know what, there IS something Worth fighting for... Sooo many tidbits here really. Nothing like a good story, well-written one at that.
@SuBhaYU Biswas I'm legit heartbroken because of that. And don’t even start with the half-blood prince. I can't even rewatch it cause I'm not strong enough 😭
Hey Badd Medicine, just wanted to hop in here and give you guys some context: The movies have overlooked the “precautions “ that the wizarding world takes to be Hidden. In the books, Harry and the others flying on brooms in the city, they actually fly high up in the sky, into and out of clouds, to hide themselves from Muggles! Also they make themselves invisible by the Disillusionment Charm(a human chameleon). The Knight bus you saw in the Part 3 is also a magical bus, that requires minimal steering, it’s magical and jumps from one place to other, to the point that any object in the way jumps out of the way, to make way for the magical bus!Plus the bus is invisible to the Muggle eye, so are the Dementors!
Watching The Oak go from "it's not my thing." to "i'm so invested in this!" and "I'm excited to the next one!", is such a fascinating experience! Thank you so much for doing this reaction series! I love this franchise so much, it holds a special place in my heart. I hope you continue to enjoy it! :D
A lot of people wonder how Dumbledore seems to know so much about everything, and I think we caught a glimpse of how he's able to do that when he told the painting that Arthur Weasley was in need of help. Dumbledore has a network of spies in those portrait paintings on the walls. He sends and receives intel through those portraits. He can probably see what's happening at the Ministry as well.
By the way prof. Trelawney is the third most important character in the series. It's her prophecy that led to the incidents followed up to the start of the first movie. Fifth book is my favorite as we got explore harry the character more. Also, this is the movie which cemented Harry's position as the most powerful wizard in his class. He got an O for defense against dark arts while no one else got more than an E.
Best moments of Proffesor McGonagall that were in the books of this is "Is it true you shouted at Proffesor Umbridge?" "Yes," Said Harry "You called her a liar?" "Yes," "You told her He Who Must Not Be Named is back?" "Yes." Proffesor McGonagall sat down behind her desk, frowning at Harry. Then she said "Have a biscuit, Harry" Then there's the ouch-est roast of all time "I'm terribly sorry to have contradicte you, Minerva, but as you see from my note, Harry has been receiving very poor results in class with me --" "I should have made myself plainer, " said Proffesor McGonagall, turning at last to look Umbridge directly in the eyes. "He has achieved high marks in all Defence Against the Dark Arts tests set by a competent teacher." Proffesor Umbridge's smile vanished as sudden as a light bulb blowing AKA if you think about that, McGonagall just said that the idiot Lockhart, is more competent than Umbridge. 🤣 Proffesor McGonagall is a QUEEN She also kept offering Umbridge a cough drop for all her clearing her throat. Oh and I leave you with this (the weasley twins and others trying to make Umbridge's life terrible with pranks lasts way longer in the books. Also Peeve's is a ghost who loves Mischief) Harry witnessed Proffesor McGonagall walking right past Peeves, who was determinedly loosening a crystal chandelier, and could have sworn he heard her tell the poltergeist out of the corner of her mouth, "It unscrew the other way." Love you reactions!!!
That's why I always had a problem with McGonagall stepping one stair down while arguing with Umbridge. She would never had done this, looking like she got defeated by her!
@Jerrica8123 Ever since the removal of Peeves, ghost have so little role that it didn't contribute to the story. Except for Rowena Ravenclaw. Same with house elves actually. Neville replaced Dobby in the movie because Dobby just got so little role in the books that it's just cheaper to replace him with human character than making the CGI.
I hate how all the ghosts were basically gone after the first 2 movies except myrtle who made an appearance in goblet! They added so much to the story imo
Seeing the Oak go from "yeah the first couple were 'good', and I'd watch it with my kids to show them, but otherwise I wouldn't sit through it again" to only a couple movies later saying "I really want to rewatch the first 4 not only to look for things we missed, but because I'd have a true appreciation for the films" is the shit I'm here for as a reaction consumer. A heartwarming transformation of mind.
I found these videos late but I’m enjoying them sooo much! I love seeing you guys get more and more into this amazing franchise. These movies mean SO much to SO many people including me :) P.S. I know a cat named Crookshanks 😂
There is nothing more incredible than watching someone else experience magic for the first time! I would love to be able to do it all over again. I LOVE these videos and check everyday to see if the next one is up yet! Thank you 😊
Interessting fact about Nevill's parents: They where tortured to insanity. In the Books the are still alive and in spacial care. There is a scene in the book where Harry and his friends see them by accitent when they visit Ron's dad after the attack. The scenes about Nevills parents hit even harder with that information.
I imagine Neville's parents resemble people with severe Alzheimer's. The lights are on, but no-one's home. There's no cure and you can only be there for them, until their time comes.
@meg mur And it gets even worse when you consider that Barty Jr, disguised as Moody, was literally one of the ones responsible for the attacks on Neville's parents.
In my opinion, Snape was by far the most well-written character and he will always be my favourite. There are so many complexities and dimensions to his character.
Ugh you cut the best part of the movie. The whole conversation of Harry and Sirius about light and dark and "When all this is over we'll be a proper family" 😭
I gotta say gents, y'all are looking mighty invested! I love it! I'm sure your questions have been answered in the comments so quick summary. Dumbledore was ignoring Harry because they weren't sure if Voldemort was listening to his thoughts. Trelawney is relatives with a famous seer. She made several true predictions which is why Dumbledore hired her. I'm dying that he said Umbridge smell like the makeup counter at Macy's. She was questioning the other teachers because she is a racist and they are trying to "clean up" the wizarding world to only include pure bloods. Neville's parents are not dead. They are at St. Mungo's, the hospital for wizards. His parents were attacked for the same reason Harry's parents were. Sybil's prophecy could have been about either boy because their birthdays are near one another's, its why their parents were targeted. James, Sirius, Remus and Pettigrew were obnoxious kids. You will see a lot more of why Snape acts the way he acts. And you will find resolution in regards to Harry's dad. Luna and Harry have a special relationship and it's really sweet. And btw your wand is awesome Oak. And I liked your summation of how the movies go. It's not that the first ones were kid's movies but that it was seen from the eyes of a child. You are shown the things that kids see and think from that perspective, which is deceptive because people think that it was kids movie. And Shawshank is definitely one of the best movies ever. #Ravenclaw4eva!
Rowling's story telling ability is far beyond many other authors. Similar to Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould, the story will move in directions beyond your expectations.
I agree. It's weird, I'm watching somehow like a proud parent as I am a big fan and love your reactions. So much fun. Happy for you to experience it for the first time ❤️
My favorite HP quote which is not from this movie but it stays with me forever and just responding to Oak talking about great quotes and lessons made me think of it “Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light” It’s so brilliant the whole dementors story, muggles can’t see them so they are that invisible depression that comes over a person and casts you down making you focus on only the worst things in your life and forget all the good. Then the antidote is a patronus which is a manifestation of the happiest most powerful memory you can muster up and you let it fill you up so you remember, life is worth living don’t let the depression totally suck your soul out, just remember to turn the light on in the dark 🥹 I love these movies and books so so much, J.K Rowling is an absolute genius and treasure to the world
I really enjoy The Oak's long ass reviews at the end! Movies can really teach you so so much more than you would think and I feel like that's exactly what's happening with him and this series!
I have been literally squealing and jumping with delight watching Oak start out as a skeptic, and be the one to fall hardest for these movies. It makes me so absolutely giddy to watch someone really discover how incredible this story is, especially when they started out not believing. Hearing him go from “I wouldn’t sit down to watch these on my own” to “I want to go back and watch the first four again just truly appreciate them”, and “this movie was phenomenal”, among other lines, had me literally pumping my fists and squealing out of pure excitement! 😆
When I watch reviews, I usually kind of skip through the ending and the summary. But your analysis and talk after the movie is actually so interesting and I'm officially obsessed.
It was so messed up at the end when Bellatrix had Neville captive, knowing what she did to his parents. I am so excited for them to watch the next one, Half Blood Prince. I think it is one of the darkest ones emotionally and build upon other characters more. I think the next one might end up as their first or second favourite from the series.
I think everyone should call him Tom. He didn't want his father's name, he chose a cool name for himself, so we SHOULDN'T give him the pleasure of being called by that name haha
If you don’t want to read the books, the audiobooks are amazing too! It’s a great way to get the full story if you don’t have time to physically read! You can listen while working out 😜
Absolutely love the conversations at the end of these reactions. Appreciate you all and I’m so glad you’re enjoying this. I’m in my 30s and now when I revisit these films, I appreciate just how steadily this story grows with its characters. Great job, guys!
This is my personal favourite movie because it really puts your emotions through the ringer😭 and the battle between dumbledore and Voldemort is just crazy
@Erik Perhs I think James might have grown up a bit after a certain incident between Sirius and Snape involving Lupin. Sirius said it was 'just a prank' but nope *shudders* something like that would certainly make any kid grow up and realize their pranks can harm. And the fact Dumbledore helped cover it up. The fact Severus owed James his life certainly didn't help the hatred, how would YOU FEEL knowing you owe your bully and enemy a life-debt?
@j h 'coming in out of nowhere with the "You guys get stuck too much in.." long comment on how your interpretation of very little facts is right, and their interpretation of very little facts is wrong and all kinds of assumptions on top, careful buddy, you''re running to the 'you guys' side pretty hard there XD
I love you guys cheering up here 14:27 I can't imagine what your reaction would be if they had included all the Ron scenes from the books. Ron, not only in the 5th film, but always an extremely supportive friend of Harry. The reason Ron does not give a useless character impression in the books is because he is an amazing person. He always watches his friends' back, is always there to protect and defend them. Even this scene could have been represented more passionately. Like, the book Ron would never wait Harry to get in verbal conflict with Seamus but physically fight him lol
I love that you said the Weasleys were going to create "a diversion." In the books, it was actually. Loving your reactions. The gentleman on the left seemed least interested at the beginning and fully invested now. Love to see it lol
Just wanted to say that I love how much you've gotten into the movies, even going so far as to get HP themed shirts! 😂 I love you guys and your reactions to these movies that so many of us grew up with. And it's awesome that you're seeing WHY we love them. With the messages that even as adults can lift us and give us happiness and strength 😊 you guys are just great!
Harry Potter Folklore went deep on the house elf thing. Many of them get paid any amount they want especially at Hogwarts through Dumbledore making it a permanent thing. They also have pretty good living quarters too and Hermione creating SPEW didn't work out well because they liked what they were doing providing joy, comfort and care to others was their passion but their wild counterparts had total opposite demeanor. It's rather complex stuff.
Man this has turned into my favorite reaction channel on KZclip. You guys put an awesome amount of effort into your videos and I love that you spend time giving us your thoughts on each one at the end of each film. Keep it up, guys!
And just like that harry lost his last living “relative”. One of the saddest parts was lupin holding him back while clearly being in pain himself seeing his best friend die
@Susan Stenson Ir's very easy to start noticing that all the old bloodlines are very closely knit together these days. The older the family name, the more likely it is they've married to other "pureblood" wizards and even within their own family to keep the bloodlines "strong." Not counting the Weasleys, as far as I remembern though. Like. Dude. The number of characters that turn out to be related is ridiculous. Sirius, Regulas, Bellatrix, Narcissa, Nymphadora, Lucius, Draco, Harry, James, they're _all_ related to each other through some way, just some are more distantly related than others.
@Hadassa Moon The movies don't get into the fact that Sirius and Regulus are brothers whose cousins are Bellatrix, Narcissa, and Andromeda. Andromeda (Tonks' mother) isn't seen in the movies.
@adventuresinlaurenland Neither of them merits the label of "family". One of the themes of Harry Potter is that while you can't choose who you're related to, you can choose who you consider family. And keep in mind that Harry and Sirius are actually cousins because Harry's paternal grandmother was a member of the Black family.
The Oak in previous movie: "Its not something I'd go to the theatres to watch" The Oak in this movie: "God I wish I'd seen this in the theatres" 37:34 🤣
I noticed Oak was not feeling the first few Harry Potter films, but now, not only is feeling it but he’s wearing a Hogwarts t-shirt. I think he’s a real fan now. ❤️😂😂
The later books/movies show a little bit more about how Voldemort's actions affect the muggle world. Sirius originally went to Azkaban, as mentioned in the 3rd book, after being accused of killing 13 muggles. Also, killing muggles was one of the main activities of Voldemort and the Death Eaters. You will learn more about Voldemort's past in #6, which explains a little more about his long term goal/motive.
Oak pretty much summed up why i keep rewatching this. i grew up with these movies and even saw the first one in theaters. there’s a level of appreciation that evolves especially as you age. i was in 7th grade when the last book came out, and my sister managed to get me a copy a day early from the store she was working. i consumed that novel in one week lol. revisiting these movies now at my age of 29; i’ve experienced so much more of life and loss that it still teaches me things (or at the very least reminds me of previous lessons.) unfortunately i lost my sister a few years back and rewatching these- man the death aspect hits so much harder; much harder than when i was in school and i would come home to my sister being around the table. these stories were comfort for me, but i find nowadays these stories help me with and remind me of perspective. and i’m sure that in my later years i will find something new to appreciate from these stories. my generation really was blessed with these epics and i’d like to think the values of courage, discipline, friendship, etc that i hold now were somewhat influenced by them. really stoked to see y’all get more and more invested with each movie! these things became so big and yet managed to stay so personal to the fans watching and reading.
I love how Oak's opinion of HP has evolved over the films so much. This is why I love reactions so much as I love to see how you could be quite skeptical at the start and end up loving it
A quick thing you missed from the books, the lady that helped Harry and Dudley at the beginning and was a witness in Harry´s trial, is a "squib" a person who was born inside the magic world but never develop magic powers, that's why Dumbledore use her to keep an eye on Harry since he was little since she cannot be involve in more magic stuffs. Also Filch is a squib.
In this case (and it's rare), one doesn't HAVE to read the books to fully enjoy these films. The books are written in such a way (most of them) that each book is one school year, which is pretty obvious. So in the books, many things happen throughout the year, but not all of the stuff that happens relate to the main plot. The movies somehow manage to get the main plot into the 2 hour ish timeline just right. They are pretty good adaptations of the books.
It's beautiful to see your journey and to see how much you guys are appreciating the story so much more now. It would be awesome to have an unnoficial harry potter book club after you finish these up! I'm sure me and many others would love to follow your experience reading the series of books for the first time.
Loving you’re guys’ reactions to this series! I’m so happy you all keep an open mind and have become more invested in the series. I see way too many “reaction” videos that are snarky or made for the sake of views. It’s refreshing to see people actually enjoy and try to understand the content. Keep up the great work guys! You’ve def gained a subscriber and fan
It's funny with the Divination teacher, because in the books she's kind of treated as a joke on the surface and the teachers consider her as such, but she was the one who made the prophecy about Harry and Voldemort, and the one who also made the prophecy we hear in Prisoner of Azkaban about Voldemort and Wormtail. She's the descendant of a famous Seer, but I think she sometimes misinterprets her visions and also pretends to be better at it than she is. She also becomes an alcoholic by Book 6.
@Elaina Veasey didnt harry technically predict the appearance of sirius in his life but they mis interpreded it as a grim in the tealeaves.... i think minor divination is possible for most magic folk just that sometimes its too specific to understand out of context
Her mother/grandmother was very famous and was no joke. And Syble Trelawny was brought in for the fact of the prophecy of Voldemort but also the fact she's often getting powerful visions and those are the ones that always come true and if not prepared for can cause many issues if messages are not heeded.
@Elaina Veasey No, they only knew of 12 which is why Trelawney said she couldn't sit down. If she had sat that would have brought the number to 14 and the first person to leave wouldn't be the first of the group to die. But alas she did not sit and the number remained 13
@Brandy Anderson that makes sense for Sirius, but if we’re going by the 13 people theory for the dinner in the great hall then Scabbers makes 14, so it doesn’t apply.
The chapter in the book after the Ministry fight is one of the best in the entire series. There is a whole chapter of Dumbledore talking to Harry and telling him basically the entire backstory. It's definitely worth a read just to get it all.
i love how you notice the early set up for a lot of these reveals. it makes it so satisfying! the writing of these books are amazing! things mentioned in book 1 all come back into play! no detail is left forgotten and it blew my mind the first time i read it!
Here we are with Order of the Phoenix and it just keeps getting better! This just might be the best one yet! What important parts did the books have that weren’t in the movies?

Sorry if this is late. The reason why Harry and Luna can see the skeleton horsies is because they can only be seen by people who have witnessed death. Harry saw Cedric die, that was his first. So when he went back to Hogwarts, he can see them. There is so much in the books too about Luna.
They left probably the most out in this movie. This book was so long
fat people can run fast sometimes even faster than slim people. we just get tired way sooner :D
In the book McGonagall is very sceptical of Trelawney's abilities. The fact that she comes to Trelawney's defense thus has greater meaning in the story.
She is faking most of the time but once a while she makes a legit profecy but has no control when and where
Yeah, Hermione kinda plays that way here in the movies tho.
True
She might think it a lot of bullcrap.... but Trelawney is still a hogwarts sister and thus in a way, family.
@Michael Klaus interesting, but i think she just looked at tom riddles birthday instead, since part of him lives rent free in harrys head...
Can we just take a moment to give props to Daniel Radcliffe? His screams after losing Sirius had to be muted because he had everyone in tears including the Bellatrix actress.😭💔
@Scallion Rice No one should be praising Eru.. It was all his fault.
@Turnt SNACO Yeah I agree. I got Rick rolled on some clip link someone put in their comment lol. Powerful performance though in that scene 👏🏼
They should have kept the audio
Not true but it's nice to think lol
In the books, Harry’s discovery that his dad bullied snape hit him really hard. He couldn’t help comparing it to him and Dudley. So he reaches out to Sirius and Lupin. They confirm that James was a bully in school but he grew out of it like so many do. Harry was worried that James coerced Lily into marrying him somehow since she hated him so much from the memory he saw. Sirius and Lupin reassured him that in the end James matured and they really did fall in love
@Lia no defence for bullying but I'm still going to defend him cause I'm a hypocrite....
This is how you sound....
@Lightning Lance It's just one person, I'll grow out of it and mature. 😏
@Auset Shnaiun Why are you just throwing Rachel under the bus like that?
Bro I’m sorry but Dumbledore coming in with the “Foolish of you to come here tonight, Tom” is the most badass thing of all time, calling him by his given name and not his dumb edgelord name
Edgelord name lmfao 😂
@kryss In the books
@Erin Rasmussenwait, when was that?
I also love when Harry says "voldemort can't get here" (or something like that) and Voldy says "CANT I POTTER??"
That was epic
One detail that was changed from the books is how Harry wards off Voldemort when being possessed. In the movie it was the power of friendship, but in the books Harry thinks of his friends to no effect, and then he thinks "If I die, at least I'll get to see Sirius again" and at that instant Voldemort retreats. Voldemort can't stand to share Harry's GRIEF at losing Sirius, that's what drives him out.
It's love not grief
I thought that the movie makes that moment soo good!!! Better than the book with the book you lerne how hard he fights inside
@Jolene Davies and to quote vision, what is grief if not love preserving.
It was love. Voldemort doesn't and can't feel love, it repels him and in its purest form is a powerful magic. It's an extension of how Lily protected Harry... that's one thing the movies couldn't/ didn't capture as well as the books.... the 'love' magic throughout.
Not grief but regret, because regret is near fatal painful for voldemort's soul.
The "I must not tell lies" line towards the end was the first mid movie ovation I ever experienced in theaters lol. Ahh memories...
@83gemm The actress is apparently very sweet, and I applaud her for portraying such a despicable character absolutely perfectly.
@Deniz Kenger oh wait, nevermind. Is it because he bullied Snape with the others?
"Stab her in the throat with it potter"
It wasn't much. That is exactly how majority of us feel
Dolores umbridge is the MOST HATED character in this series. Even more than voldemort
Kudos to the actress for doing such a great job.
When he said ir we all agreed.
@H'anter Jider No, we hate her....because we've dealt people like her...it has nothing to do with her acting, or because it's a movie...
I really loved the way they introduced Luna Lovegood. She was so well portrayed in the movie.
@willow Yes. I meant for the books cause J.K love Evanna's portrayal of Luna.
@Daniel Daniar was she not luna in every film?
I think after this movie, J.K use Evanna Lynch to portray Luna for the book.
and how the actress received the role is a very awe inspiring story
Luna is a highly underrated character. The way she got the role is phenomenal
@jbreezy101 Technically she didn't petition her for the role. She had written to her before the movies started and they exchanged letters about the books.
She petitioned JK Rowling herself
I believe you guys are 100% correct on the "emotional range of a teaspoon" scene. The line was scripted but, the laughter after was not, they decided to keep it in because it genuinely fit the scene.
There is an interview somewhere I can't remember where but that scene was unscripted and improvised by Emma Watson and the laugh was perfect for the scene so they kept it in
I think there is a few times when they leave laughs in between the three as it happened a lot.
Not her for Head she couldn't cover it with bangs it's over her cheeks and nose
I think the “sneak” was just spelled out in long lasting acne
It’s not a permanent scar but it’s a vicious hex for sure.
@Josie Carrera that's what I like about these characters; it's not just bad guys vs good guys, but people with flaws and real
And she dit put Rita skeeter in an indestructible JAR so if she would transform Rita would die .........
That one teacher we all have lmao that's why she is such a realistic "villain" hahahaha
I swear she fills me with more rage than any villain
Honestly its insane how evil she is considering her lack of allegiance to Voldemort
I think this moment is what Rings of Power ripped off with their Halbrand/Sauron yelling LOOK AT ME while disguised as Galadriel’s brother.
@Makkaru112 pssst... this is a spoiler, delete this before they see it!
Same
@Mochi Lau that and he's stressed the heck out full of emotions and thoughts etc.
Only like the last .0009 percent left of his soul attached itself to Harry anyway but yeah sure half voldemort works good too hah.
"Sorry, professor, I must not tell lies."
The most iconic line!
Sirius' death and the aftermath is so brutal in the books. I couldn't stop crying till the end.
@Susan Stenson Thank you! If you can't find it that's all good. I appreciate the effort regardless!
@Susan StensonDo you know what it's called? I'd love to read it!
@Shubhika I'll have to give that one a read. I think my fave one has got to be All the Young Dudes, which just... completely broke me when I read in the summer. I love the ATYD Marauders so much, you really watch them grow up.
I was disappointed with them cutting out the aftermath really because Harry's denial was tragic in the books
@lyds6382 it’s kind of a shame really 😂
@Laurajayne Nolan it totally fits lol, just not what it technically meant!
@lyds6382 really? I thought it was like “they are a group of messers” which they were. The map recognising the twins as messers as well. It just fit 😂 never looked closely enough to see it was messrs
@elle. it’s an abbreviation for “monsieurs”, like master or mister in French!
...and then when you consider that you have The Half-Blood Prince in the same class who improved on all those spells in "Harry's" book and even wrote his own brilliant spells...so many over-achievers in their class.
The first thing I saw Imelda in she was playing a very gentle, sweet mother so when I saw this movie I was impressed by her portrayal of Umbridge.
Imelda Staunton is fantastically talented. I've seen her do comedy, drama, musicals. She can make you cheer, and she can break your heart. Which makes the fact she made Umbridge so hateful that much more amazing.
Similarly though, Rowling really makes you hate her in the books. Even the teachers do- McGonagall helps the poltergeist cause havoc, ffs 😂
Fun fact/ fan theory: Professor Trelawney's prophecies are always correct, but she usually interprets them wrong.
She also can't force them out, her ability is powerful but sporadic. That's what I gathered.
Sirius is actually way more present throughout the books and his death is even more sad in them :(
@Aiden Hart lol you actually believe that
@Aiden Hart Baseless assumptions...as usual.
@Angel Yes she had a massive lawsuit over the people who wrote a fanfic about Lupin and Sirius which technically she had the right to because they tried to make money off of it but still after she won that, the 5th book was released and yeah...clearly she took it out on the fans which is psychotic.
@Aiden Hart wait what?? She seriously killed him over fanfic??!
@WALLIS Because he's a bot or troll trying to get you worked up.
I LOVE that Oak wants to rewatch. Whether you're a fan or not, the story is compelling. I love it
@Badd Medicine that makes me so happy!!! I was going to recommend the books. GoF was a great book. I wish the movie was half as good
He finished the Goblet audio book.
Cool stuff.
Men in Black sort of scenario, basically
Just to add to your comment. Another example of things in the Wizarding world affecting the Muggle world. But the muggles not understanding what's really happening. Would be the Dementors. They can't see them tho can still be attacked by them and feel when dementors are around.. even if they don't know know what's causing it. Muggles will find any excuse to ignore magic.
@Baron Brummbär No, generally Fudge is the one interacting with the Muggle Minister. But Kingsley is assigned as security detail for the Muggle Minister after OotP
@Baron Brummbär yeah i think that's correct, i haven't read that book in a long while
I've got to say I love the way you guys do your reactions. So many reactors end their video as soon as what they are reacting to ends. It's great to hear you guys spending 15-20 minutes discussing the film at the end and sharing your thoughts.
Especially The Oak, who honestly has really insightful conclusions about the movies and how they carry over to the real world.
Thank you Andy! We appreciate it.
Add on the layer that Crouch Jnr was with Bellatrix when she tortured them into madness.
Watching 3 grown men cheer for a mistletoe kiss killed me😂😂😂 loving these reactions more and more with each movie, and I think the oak has the best character arc in this series 🤣
Omg i was thinking the same thing with The Oak Having the best character arc😂😂 it’s been so fun to watch
Top ten anime character arcs
Loving it too ❤️
@Anthony Villarias Oak is the name of the guy on the left, I think
Hmm just curious.
What’s the oak arc?
I haven’t read the book.
😅
@Amelle Kyre but it’s not explained in the movies.
Would technically be a spoiler because you don't learn that till later books
Ron and Hermione's face when they see harry being possessed by Voldemort always gets me. They feel so powerless and yet they never lose hope or question their love for Harry.
"You're the weak one. And you'll never know love. Or friendship. And I feel sorry for you".
The trio’s love for each other always makes me so weepy, especially in the books! I love the moments where harry gets hit with the realization that, “damn, these two like REALLY REALLY love me?? A concept!”
I absolutely love that line from Harry. Always gives me chills.
@OldSchoolGenius this destroyed me
When his grandma told him to throw it away, but he quietly puts it in his pants pocket.
I feel the same. It's a prime example where show don't tell works better. We also get a bonus of seeing Lockhart there too!
@Elaina Veasey ahh, thank you!! It's been years since I've read the books
Yes, Voldemort sees the muggles as animals. Their only purpose, according to his and wizards like him, is to be slaves to the wizards. So ultimately if Voldemort would manage to get the upper hand he would enslave all the muggles and there you have your impact. :)
@renjun is a smol ball of fluffI love that in the books Harry calls him out on it to Bellatrix and Lucious I wish they kept it in the movies.
@n4l9bx Harry Potter folklore channel went deep on it andnp4oved grindy was not evil and frankly easily should dislike voldee.
@Badd Medicine I read that Daniel had lost a close family member around the time of filming so he used the pain from his real life
We loved that!
I think she had other snippets of true foretelling, but those ones weren’t in the full on trance we saw in the movie
I like oaks journey thus far, he's really learning lessons about himself and is a deep thinker. Just shows how great this series is.
I love how Dumbledore won the court by basically saying "Hey isn't it a little sketchy we're doing a Misdemeanor trial in THE SUPREME COURT??"
“You’re a fool Harry Potter, and you will lose.. everything.” That line gives me chills everytime
@jbreezy101 thanks for explaining, because I wasn’t completely sure however what I remember she was sentenced and later sent to Azkaban for the rest of the life 😬
@Екатерина Коваль was in the hospital wing at hogwarts. I don’t think She was transferred to st mungos
@Fenny Sylvy she got 1 out of 10 😆
@N O A H its not confirmed but...heavily implied due to other myths of centaurs
I love your genuine reactions!! It’s so cool to see 3 grown ups watching for the first time some things that I loved when I was a teenager. Read the books, they’re rich!!
Thank you for watching and the kind words! We appreciate it!
I blame the directors and the writers. They gave the actress nothing to work with.
Neville’s time will come. Remember in #1 ten points for standing up to his friends
The fact that when you guys don’t understand something instead of dismissing it you ask for an explanation in the comments has definitely earned my respect!!! Definitely earned a sub from me! My fav Harry Potter reactions so far
Same!
@Langley Ackerman after the battle in this book, neville's grandma bought him a wand. that's why he gets better with it
@lilyrose Also that wand was made of ashwood and unicorn hair. That combination is famous for being very attached to their owner and never really work well with somebody else, neither when taken by force or given away willingly.
@lilyrose now how did I reread these just last year and already forgot this lmao
this was the first book I cried about someone dying. Harry's grief about Sirius was just too much, it was really well done in the book.
YES!! EVERYTHING you said …. YES!!
Love these reactions!! Nothing like seeing people experience Harry Potter for the first time😊
We had no clue how much this would impact us.
NON-SPOILER for Snape -
Snape's Worst Memory is far more horrific in the book.
Fun fact: the book is the least liked by Harry potter fans but this movie is the most liked.
@Anggi Oktaviani You "have strength enough for thissss"!
@Badd Medicine so glad u enjoyed it.
Hey Badd Medicine, just wanted to hop in here and give you guys some context:
The movies have overlooked the “precautions “ that the wizarding world takes to be Hidden.
The rebellion against Umbridge is so underplayed in the movie. The Weasley twins leaving was so much more drawn out and a blast to read.
Best moments of Proffesor McGonagall that were in the books of this is
"Is it true you shouted at Proffesor Umbridge?"
"Yes," Said Harry
"You called her a liar?"
"Yes,"
"You told her He Who Must Not Be Named is back?"
"Yes."
Proffesor McGonagall sat down behind her desk, frowning at Harry. Then she said "Have a biscuit, Harry"
Then there's the ouch-est roast of all time
"I'm terribly sorry to have contradicte you, Minerva, but as you see from my note, Harry has been receiving very poor results in class with me --"
"I should have made myself plainer, " said Proffesor McGonagall, turning at last to look Umbridge directly in the eyes. "He has achieved high marks in all Defence Against the Dark Arts tests set by a competent teacher."
Proffesor Umbridge's smile vanished as sudden as a light bulb blowing
AKA if you think about that, McGonagall just said that the idiot Lockhart, is more competent than Umbridge. 🤣 Proffesor McGonagall is a QUEEN
She also kept offering Umbridge a cough drop for all her clearing her throat.
Oh and I leave you with this (the weasley twins and others trying to make Umbridge's life terrible with pranks lasts way longer in the books. Also Peeve's is a ghost who loves Mischief)
Harry witnessed Proffesor McGonagall walking right past Peeves, who was determinedly loosening a crystal chandelier, and could have sworn he heard her tell the poltergeist out of the corner of her mouth, "It unscrew the other way."
Love you reactions!!!
@Sasa FYes McGonagall would never!
Not gonna lie, the "Have a biscuit" line is my favorite. Not only that I almost feel threatened by it 👀
Seeing the Oak go from "yeah the first couple were 'good', and I'd watch it with my kids to show them, but otherwise I wouldn't sit through it again" to only a couple movies later saying "I really want to rewatch the first 4 not only to look for things we missed, but because I'd have a true appreciation for the films" is the shit I'm here for as a reaction consumer. A heartwarming transformation of mind.
You are correct, the laugh with the trio was totally a real laughing moment they kept in the film because it worked so well
Snape constantly gives Harry the cold shoulder because of James Potter, but he also protects Harry because of his love for Lilly Potter.
I found these videos late but I’m enjoying them sooo much! I love seeing you guys get more and more into this amazing franchise. These movies mean SO much to SO many people including me :)
P.S. I know a cat named Crookshanks 😂
Hahaha that's awesome. Figured there had to be a few animals out there.
Especially when you realize how horrible that scene was with the Cruciatus curse on the spider in book 4.
We also meet Lockhart there too.
In my opinion, Snape was by far the most well-written character and he will always be my favourite. There are so many complexities and dimensions to his character.
There really won’t be a more hated character than Dolores Umbridge for me, I hate her more than Joffrey.
Agreed I really hated that batch in the book. I hated her even more in this movie, probably one of the top most hated villains of all time
Ugh you cut the best part of the movie.
Hello again Dorian! Invested indeed! We are really hooked. Thank you for the tidbits here. Keep them coming.
Rowling's story telling ability is far beyond many other authors. Similar to Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould, the story will move in directions beyond your expectations.
I love The Oak's arc from "Meh...kids movie" to wearing the TShirts!!! Awesome.
I agree. It's weird, I'm watching somehow like a proud parent as I am a big fan and love your reactions. So much fun. Happy for you to experience it for the first time ❤️
I’m 1000% HOOKED!! -Oak
My favorite HP quote which is not from this movie but it stays with me forever and just responding to Oak talking about great quotes and lessons made me think of it
“Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light”
It’s so brilliant the whole dementors story, muggles can’t see them so they are that invisible depression that comes over a person and casts you down making you focus on only the worst things in your life and forget all the good. Then the antidote is a patronus which is a manifestation of the happiest most powerful memory you can muster up and you let it fill you up so you remember, life is worth living don’t let the depression totally suck your soul out, just remember to turn the light on in the dark 🥹
I love these movies and books so so much, J.K Rowling is an absolute genius and treasure to the world
I really enjoy The Oak's long ass reviews at the end!
Everyone else : "the one who most not be named"
Harry: "Voldemort"
Dumbledore : "Tom" 😎😎
me: tim
Yes! I love when Dumbledore calls him Tom, it's like a slap in his noseless face.
@Erik Perhs truthful never got over the anagrams reveals it marked my childhood 😂
Names have power in them so yeah, using his birth name reminded of the part of himself that he hates (ie. His father/ muggles)
I think everyone should call him Tom. He didn't want his father's name, he chose a cool name for himself, so we SHOULDN'T give him the pleasure of being called by that name haha
In the books, Ron suffers when they fly in the Thestrals precisely because he can't see it.
The Oak’s commentary at the end is the best part of the videos
When Sirius said: "Nice one James" to Harry it's just broke my heart because he felt like he was fighting with he's friends as old times
@ALMAS Snape actually gave as good as he got.
@Yasmina Dali Youcef exactly ! Lol like they’re all adults now and playing nice with each other for the most part.
@b3rrysweet Yes, Sirius is a complex character and I love him as much as Snape. But this line still reminds me of his flaws.
I love you guys cheering up here 14:27
I can't imagine what your reaction would be if they had included all the Ron scenes from the books.
@Andreas Jansson They were real relatives. Harry's grandmother was a member of the Black family.
The Oak in previous movie: "Its not something I'd go to the theatres to watch"
The Oak in this movie: "God I wish I'd seen this in the theatres" 37:34 🤣
@Loo Hdz I didnt watch the video tbh, i come for comments. I need to go and learn how to cast protego diabolica now, bye.
@Loo Hdz ahh ok. gotcha
@Deniz Kenger that’s why I tell them, if you watch the video, they always ask “tell us what we missed from the books”
wdym a thing they missed from books, they never read books, im sure they missed many things.
@Daniel Woods It's British so yeah. lol
'someone throws a rock at her head" kkkkkkkk
isso tinha que ser a sinopse do filme , defina a sensação perfeitamente
abraços do Brasil S2
Be careful reading comments. Wouldn’t want you guys to be spoiled, it’s such an amazing story.
@Lea Robinson sadly the curse was still on the DADA post so lupin couldn't stay anyway without something bad happening to him.
