I am currently being treated as a patient with ICP without my liver or bile acids test showing it. My doctor listened to my story and my symptoms alone. I’m so grateful to him. I am currently 32 weeks with twins and will be induced in 33 days as a result!! I cannot wait to stop itching! Nothing is helping it right now and it gets absolutely dreadful at night. 😭
Just got diagnosed with this at 28 weeks and had to do so much research on it because apparently this is rare and there's barely any information out there on this. Thank you for this video!
I never got diagnosed but I know I had it. My bile level wasn't high enough to be diagnosed. I itched all over and was even told I had elevated liver levels which they couldn't understand. I'm taking bile salts now and drinking milk thistle. Im pregnant again and trying to avoid ICP if I can.
I had obstetric cholestasis of pregnancy with my third child, itchy skin(no rash)and severe morning sickness.Doctors didn't know what was wrong with me,until taken into hospital at 35 weeks, after many tests...my reading was at 400 and delivery was induced at 36weeks, thankfully my baby had no difficulty and was perfectly healthy. The itching and sickness stopped immediately after I gave birth. I'm in Scotland, UK.The doctor's had no clue what was wrong with me and OC was unheard of.I was extremely fortunate to have a good outcome..
If you find yourself with liver disease you should check out the Andrew Cutler protocol, google "andy cutler rebecca rust lee weston price" for a great article
I’ve had this twice , they didn’t know a lot about it but I was monitored and had bloods weekly with Urso , had babies 37 & 39 weeks , I’m expecting my third so waiting for it to Come along again
I started itching mildly at 17 weeks. I had labs done and my bile acids came back at 92.2 I am now 19 weeks pregnant and the itching is unbearable. I am taking ursodiol 300mg 3 times a day but it does not help at all. My doctor doesn’t seem worried at all. What can I do?
I had cholestasis with my 3rd pregnancy my son had to be born at 35 weeks he didn't need to stay in the ICU for long, he had no problems after birth. Except an acute murmur. My first 2 pregnancies I didn't have any problems. I'm 28 weeks and 4 days now on my 4th pregnancy and my bile acids was elevated. Now I'm worried of my baby being born even before 34 weeks.
Hi there! Could I get an update? I’m kind of on the same boat now but only 24 weeks. Want to know if I’ll have to deliver even sooner this time around as last time I delivered at 37 since it was caught late.
Hi, My wife was diagnosed with high levels(10times) of ALT around 20th week with itching but since then after taking UDCA her ALT levels are 5 times. In that situation can we wait for full term if other ultrasonography reports are normal? Would appreciate your reply. Thanks.
I had this with my first son ..He was born at 26 weeks thankfully healthy ..now pregnant with my fourth and am itching already at 15 weeks am so worried 😔
Thank you. I'm at 38 weeks and was asked to go to the emergency room because I started getting itching all over my body with no rash. It's not confirmed yet if it's colistasis but was still prescribed ursidiol . You mentioned that it's more for moms benefit, and doesn't do anything for baby... If the symptoms are tolerable enough, should I avoid taking this medication? At least until a diagnosis is confirmed?my Ihaven't started using it because colistasis is not confirmed and the information leaflet wasn't in depth, also I'm a bit scared to put anything else in my body because this itch started the night I got the flu shot
@Destiny Heath - That misinformation from that doctor just continues the misinformed doctors who are practicing! There have been other studies that have not found the causal relationship, but it is correlated with fetal impact.
This happen to me all 3 babies. Had to do my home work!! The next day I went to my dummy doctor, he than send me right to a specialist!!! I had to find out what I had. Thank God for internet.
I'm confused with two data points at 4:58min. The last two. 7/10 deaths occurred BEFORE 37 weeks....so majority. But then next point, median age fetal demise 37w2d (past 37 weeks). Can someone please explain this for me? Going to be seeing my doctor tomorrow about this condition.
I know this is a late comment to this old video but I’m 34 weeks and having dark urine in the morning. Like super dark and my legs where my calves and in the front are SO itchy and I haven’t been sleeping, feeling nausea here and there and super fatigued... does the itching happen like CONSTANT or can it come and go? Just wondering
If you find yourself with liver disease you should check out the Andrew Cutler protocol, google "andy cutler rebecca rust lee weston price" for a great article. But do not start while pregnant or breastfeeding.
I get this with every pregnancy earlier each time. The itch starts on my feet then spreads all over. Even my eyelids. I'm 8 weeks now and its already started. I can't even see my doctor till 10 weeks. It changes the way you live especially if its untreated. I got no meds my first pregnancy. Horrible torture. I waited 12 yrs to get pregnant again cause I thought I was allergic to pregnancy. Birth control causes the same reaction.

Is ICP linked to intellectual disability? I had undiagnosed ICP and carried my daughter full term + 10 days overdue. She is now 13 years and has a mild intellectual disability which I believe is a result of untreated ICP 😔
Hi, how did it go? I had a breakdown at 21 weeks and got the medicine he is talking about, and on blood checks every 10 days or so. Now I am 30 weeks and the liver levels are normal, not the bile acids, and my doctor wants to reduce the blood check ups to every 4 weeks and that it making me freak out.... :/
She should be listening to your symptoms. Are you sharing them with her? If you’re having extreme itching especially at night, I would encourage you to ask her to get your bile acid tests done again.
@Madison my point is.. cholestasis is typically diagnosed with levels at 10 or higher. Levels could be higher in pregnant women but over 10 is a diagnosis. Not at 7. Ofcourse the risk increases and likelihood but you delivered with a bile acid level of 7.... were you actually diagnosed ??
I had this, I am so sad they didn’t educate me about what my body was going through but so so thankful my son is here, born alive and so healthy.
Hi Kara
How are you feeling

Wow, Thanks for that information.

SomewhatHonest ursidiol lowers bile acids so it does help the baby. Definitely take it

Omg same I feel like I’m allergic to pregnancy
@Onaip the pregnancies were high risk and horrible but the babies are all healthy. I got induced early with 2 if them.
Were all your pregnancies healthy?

Mild itching on hands, arms, face and back for 2 days now.31 weeks pregnant.what should I do?
I've just been diagnosed with this and put on medication. I'm just coming up to 18 weeks pregnant and I'm worried sick.

Thank you very much
Those who had coliseties in pregnancy can we get pregnant again is it rick?
👍👍👍
The question is does it go away after pregnancy or stays
Mine stayed but settled a bit.
I had it. Went away after delivery at 37 weeks.
My bile acids came back at 12.1 and my OB says this is normal and not indicative of ICP. Idk what to do?!
She should be listening to your symptoms. Are you sharing them with her? If you’re having extreme itching especially at night, I would encourage you to ask her to get your bile acid tests done again.
One good thing is I never spewed up.
@2:37 AST/ALT elevation
I’m 40 weeks I’m getting induced Friday I have cholestasis I’m scared
@April Hobson mind me asking how everything went. Similar boat. Really nervous
@April Hobson do not be worried but make sure ur OBGYN induces u as soon as possible
@Madison oh I see. I was diagnosed at an 11, it increased to 15 over three weeks and now at 32 after one week. I’m 35 weeks and super worried. 💔
@April Hobson plus they cheacked again the day I was induced it spiked to 27
Dandelion and milk thistle cures it
