Another amazing build by dad! We are so proud of him, dad recently past his journeyman Smith performance test, now he will be testing at BLADESHOW this June to find out if he is worthy of the JS stamp (he totally is imo.) -Josh
Totally blown away at the attention to detail, skill and artistry involved in the making of the blade. Being such a beautiful and intricate creation, I was left wishing we had a bit more than the 60 seconds given to admire the finished piece, especially after the journey of the build. The final result was truly stunning!
That's one of the most amazing patterns I've ever seen!!! Only by you and Kyle have I seen such a clean uniform pattern & weld of the steel itself!!! You're both blessed with an amazing gift in your talents!!! These are timeless pieces of art!!! Thank you for allowing us to watch the process!!!
Really nice handle and guard setup. Haven’t seen many people lately making finger loops for their knives. Great mosaic damascus as well, really bold and pronounced.
Congratulations Royer Dad! That turned out beautifully. Have very much enjoyed seeing your progress from beginner to master craftsman over the last few years. I recently finished making my most detailed bowie knife to date and this completely blows it out of the water. The level of intricacy is fantastic mate.
The mythical ability of a blacksmith isn't just the ability to create a piece of art. It is the ability to recreate this piece of art down to a tee. And yet... it stays mythical for it always being a one of a kind knife of which none other exists quite like this. Even if built the same way, the pattern is always a new sight to behold. Love it so much, you have no idea how much I'd love owning one of those just to have it on display.
This has got to be literally the most beautiful knife I have ever seen. I swear it's the handle and guard that really makes it stand a head above the rest. I can't wait to see what he does next.
Wow I mean just wow, absolutely stunning. Sir, this is a masterpiece yep you have fabricated a masterpiece. A very very detailed video with awesome background music and very pleasant voice, as you have mentioned that in the video that you have been working for 3 years, now just imagine in 3 years you have fabricated this beautiful damascus knife, whats next. Absolutely brilliant craftsmanship, this video is going in my favourites, done😁. All the very best regards and Love from Pakistan. 💖❤💖
Well, that was Awesome!! Thank you so much for letting us in to watch one of the greatest knife builds I’ve personally ever seen. The thought alone that went into this design is just stunning. The precision with the way you executed this was such that I could barely tell if that was you or Kyle! Thank you again. You truly inspire us all!!💎
I REALLY Love watching you work. It's different than watching Kyle but the design and execution are flawless. Absolutely love your videos. Can't wait wait to see your next project. Great job. Absolutely STUNNING!!!
You have came a long way in such a short period of time. I wish everyone understood how much time and skill actually goes into making something like this. Came out beautiful👏👏
What a beautiful knife, you can tell that the time it took you to make this, by looking at the attention to detail and quality of the finish and forging. The talent in this family... it's incredible and everyone who owns a Royer knife, holds a work of art in their possession. What i also love here is the reversed dynamic of a wonderful dad following in his son's footsteps, instead of son following dad's footsteps (nothing wrong with that tho!). And looking beyond that, it's pretty clear to me that this is a loving and tight family who are proud of each other and stand together as one. Congrats to your dad for passing his journeyman test, and i am certain he is well on his way to earn that MS badge too.
Beautiful work Sir. Seen you in many of your son's videos and always wanted to see your work. Thank you. Absolutely amazing. You and your son have almost the exact same voice. Thought he was narrating at first. I also have to say, well done on the video all around. The music was perfect.
I've very much enjoyed watching Dad Royer's progress as a knife maker... fantastic knife build and the handle turned out amazing! With the team of Caleb, Kyle and Dad Royer I thoroughly enjoy watching all of y'all's videos, with the great video quality and the amazing knife build's I look forward to each video 👍 keep up the great work and God bless
That is a wickedly beautiful pattern, the trigger guard is a nice touch. Kind of makes this knife a subsist, with the added benefit of being able to spin the blade much like a SAA Revolver. Though it might take some practice. Incredible blade.
Impressive build to say the least. The pattern Damascus pops. The trigger and finger guard process was incredible to watch. The file work on the spacers is top notch and was my favorite to watch. The stippling on the handle is really, really good and I'm not a fan of stippling. Great build Dad. Go Team Royer!
I can't even begin to express how much I love this... And Kyle holding the umbrella for Dad made me think of Proberbs22:6 Proverbs 22:6: "Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it." Y'all are Awesome!!!
Not sure how much all these cost but I’m sure it’s a lot and simultaneously not enough. Started watching a video randomly and was mesmerized by the process, passion, time, effort and detail that goes into these. They’re absolute works of art from forge to finish!
Nice pattern! I have never seen this kind of knife- very unusual, but pretty cool. The attention to detail is impressive- family trait. That knife is a work of art- awesome build!
@Knife Thrower I think you got your thinking backwards... A week or 2?? You have to work for perfection, then everything else falls into place. Money should be the last care. Strive for perfection with everything you do!!! Failure is part of that perfection, learn & find way to improve
If I could charge as much as these guys charge, I'd be able to take a week or two perfecting every single little detail too. Their knives are worth every penny ✌️
I don't watch a whole lot of knifemaking videos, but from those i have watched it seems to me that you do very careful, precise clean work and the results speak for themselves. Gorgeous knife! Thank you for sharing this with the world.
My compliments on an absolutely superb piece of true craftsman work. I worked at the Royal Canadian Mint for seventeen years, there I worked with the engraving department ( not an engraver by any means ) but I learned a lot and Kyle's work ranks well with the fellows I once worked with. I am really impressed with this fine knife.
That handle is absolutely STUNNING...One of the best handles I have ever seen in the thousands and thousands of blade videos I have watched. Excellent craftsmanship and execution and unique and innovative. Love how Dad took inspiration from the shotgun and imagined it into a handle. AMAZING
Absolutely brilliant craftsmanship. The patience and attention to detail required in this field is always so impressive to me. I doubt that I could equal such levels of quality and workmanship in ten years of practice, let alone a mere three!
One of the coolest ideas for a knife i have evr seen in my 51 years i love how you have incorporated the ventalated barrel at the top of the blade down to the finish on the handle just like the stock on a beautiful shotgun . The piece is stunning and every aspect of that knife is pure perfection , i dont know how you parted with it as a piece of you must of left with it to the customer! i love this channel and enjoying every second of your videos, you guys are masters of your art but even that doesnt sound like praise enough your work commands . I am totally blown away by the work done by you both!
Hey thanks PLE. Funny story about the vented rib. I originally wasn’t going to do it because of the extensive research and execution, then Kyle said are you going to put vented rids on the spine. And of course the answer to my master was yes Kyle. Kyle is very hard to keep up with. He stretches me frequently. Good times my friend Keep Forging On Dad
Absolutely amazing Mr. Royer. In my opinion, this was your most beautiful build yet. It was so enjoyable to watch this video and be with you on the journey to such an amazing piece. Beyond stellar craftsmanship. God Bless you and your family Mr. Royer!
You would never get tired of holding and turning this in your hands, and marvelling at the skill and craftsmanship that it took to make this absolutely beautiful knife.
Me enamoro el estilo que le dió a este cuchillo es fenomenal La narración , el vídeo y el proceso de creación del cuchillo me vicio por completo en el vídeo como si fuera el mismo herrero Un espléndido trabajo hace usted señor herrero
I thought I could relate more to dad than kyle cuz Kyle's work is on another dimension and I could never understand how he make the blades that he made, but after this build I think dad have also push himself to another level.
What a Beauty! It is the nicest Bowie i've ever seen. All those skills you have developed in that little amount of three years show who Kyle got his talent from! This knife is a piece of art, creativity and craftsmanship. Thanks for sharing it with us! Stay healthy and please make more of those innovative knives!
I'm going out on a limb here but it has to be said, best looking knife I have seen on this channel! Love how the knife's back is straight and not curved.
This is awesome. You and your son do some phenomenal work. I'd like to see a huge father/son build, if you hadn't already done one lol. Very cool. Those bluing salts really make that metal look amazing. Well done. I also love that wood and what you did with it
One, this was absolutely gorgeous and I enjoyed the entire process. You really know what you're doing. Two, you cannot know my immense disappointment when there was no functioning "shotgun" part in the knife when the product was finished.....
Thank you guys so very much. I find myself continually smiling as I watch your videos. The quality of your knives is without question but the quality of the videos themselves have also gotten to be top notch.

Having a similar background in welding as me. It's a massive benefit in forge welding damascus, you can easily spot trouble before it arises. Great knife Jeff 👍
Just when you think @KyleRoyer makes just the most beautiful knives...Dad pulls this beast out of nowhere. Well done Dad...that is one sweet looking knife
Browning shotgun inspiration visible for the first moment! It was huge amount of work but totally worth the effort- Knife looks beautiful knife Sir! Two part guard and guard inlay on the handle looks spectacular! If I may suggest something: brass screw looks insanely good with this blued guard, but it doesn't match to the brass spacers- in my opinion it's too bright. It would be much more consistent with the rest of the handle if you cold blued it just a little. Of course this is just my personal opinion.
Another amazing build by dad! We are so proud of him, dad recently past his journeyman Smith performance test, now he will be testing at BLADESHOW this June to find out if he is worthy of the JS stamp (he totally is imo.) -Josh
That typo had me heartbroken bc it didn’t show anything after my dad recently past. Truly legendary knofemaker, i see where kyle gets his skill
Oh man I fell asleep to this, his voice is so relaxing and well paced, it was really calming
You both are amazingly skilled. God bless you and your family my friend.
Way to go Dad
your voice....new mic??
Wow, what a result! Bet it was hard saying good bye to a knife you’ve worked so hard on for so long. Absolutely stunning.
I agree it's like giving away yur. Talent at its best hard to do, hope he got paid very well.
Totally blown away at the attention to detail, skill and artistry involved in the making of the blade.
