He was in the hospital when driver's license was released. He was also supposed to release his song at the same time. Her fans took his almost dying and said he was trying to ruin her release because he wanted the attention.
yeah that's why in "set me free" he said "it's been a freaking year" and "wasn't sure I'd survive, never felt so weak" like Olivia obviously made all that stress for him and she acted like she didn't even care that joshua was dying.
What I really like about Joshua is how he could easily hopped on the drama train when drivers license came out but he waited so that we would actually listen to him. And how you said, he was really mature and respectful and I think it shows the type of person he is. Set me free has to be my fav, it hits hard when he talks about not knowing he would survive when we know that he was at the hospital with a 30% survival chance at the same time he was recieving thousands of death theats. Also, 100% of the money earned with crisis is going to mental health organizations in perpetuity.
Especially because he could have also came at Olivia and said horrible stuff but instead like you said, he was being mature and respectful. And all he did was be supportive of her career, even though people were bashing him all over.
Joshua actually doesn’t really care about his career, but rather the people he is able to connect with. So in Crisis, he’s talking about her ruining his life as her career move. For example, he went to a coffee shop, where an employee played Olivia songs until he left. Since then, he hasn’t felt comfortable in public areas.
That person who did that should really get fired, that’s so unnecessary I know Joshua is a forgiving person so he wouldn’t do what I would which is report them and get them fired.
Set Me Free actually touches on some other topics such as Joshua recently coming to terms with the sexual assualt and domestic abuse he faced throughout his childhood, and around when Drivers Liscense was released he was in the hospital from heart failure due to stress. So yeah he really had a terrible year on top of everything with Olivia
It was the day Lie Lie Lie was Released. And it was septic shock. It makes the body Shut down its organs. Its pretty awful and have happened to me also. I had a year where they regularily needed to check my lungs cause they were really not ok. I was hospitalised for 3 days. Had No idea what was going on when I Woke up at the hospital... And managed to talk myself out of the hospital after 3 days cause I was "stable" then.
@Thea Norlander it was driver’s license because lie lie lie was coming out around that time and he couldn’t promote it properly since he was in the hospital.
when he talks about not being sure if he was gonna survive its bc not even a week after drivers license was released he suffered a heart failure and a septic shock. he had 30% of survival, the doctors told him it was bc of stress. he's really a genuine soul and such a respectful and kind person, you should check out his other projects!
i love how in crisis you start off like you dont care about the drama but after the first line you're already hooked and theorizing like everyone else hahahah
I really recommend checking out his interview on Zach Sang Show (not for a video), you really get an inside into his life during the past year, I would dare to say that he's really inspiring as a person, just how he managed to get through all the bad stuff that happened to him
This is not just a response to good for you, but to olivia's entire album painting josh as the bad guy. honestly i don't wanna say anything other than watch josh's interview with zach sang. it'll be amazing if you hear it all from his mouth itself. its a really long interview but its the BEST. so inspiring, josh is a wonderful human who deserves the world!
I think that it's even bigger than sour. ofc it is, partially, but also to the repercussion it had on *his* life. I mean people destroyed him bc of that album, I feel like he is responding to *that* more than to *what she said* in the album. and the song set me free is more of an anthem to move on from everything he had to go through (abuse, hospitalization, bullying, etc)
Joshua was sexually abused as a child and as a teen, and said that for him Set Me Free is an anthem for him and for the people who went through abuse. He said the song isn't about one person, it's about all the people who held power over him and hurt him during his life. I don't think Set Me Free is about any person or any specific situation. I think it's just about the feeling of being powerless when there are things happening and there's nothing you can do to stop it. So he's saying, you already took so much from me, but you don't get to take everything I am. You don't get to turn me into something I'm not. He's saying, I'm not as naive as I was before, and I won't break. He learned to protect himself because no one else would, to protect himself even from people who said that they loved him, from people who were supposed to love him (whether that means the family member who abused him, the friends who betrayed him, the 'friend' who took advantage of his innocence and abused him, maybe even a romantic partner who ended up being cruel, or any other person who hurt him throughout his life that we don't know about) We can't forget he's only 21 years old. He's been through so much and he's still so young. He's so strong, I love him. He almost died for a heart attack, he was on a hospital bed while everyone was hating on him. Btw, if you want a mature and sweet breakup song, listen to It'll Be Okay by Shawn Mendes!
I love Sour, and I don't think there's anything fundamentally wrong with writing songs that are exaggerated or not 100% true. What I think is not right is writing songs that are not entirely true (I've seen Olivia's Deja Vu breakdown, and she takes a lot of artistic liberty and also doesn't write 100% of the lyrics alone) while everyone will know who these songs are supposed to be about, letting that person get all the hate and death threats over things that didn't necessarily happen and not speak out against it even after that person is literally in a hospital fighting for their life due to all the stress. I know it's probably not all on her. Maybe she was advised not to talk more about the situation, and she's new to all the fame and her actions having that much impact, but it still doesn't sit quite right with me. Anyway, Joshua's interview with Zach Sang is worth checking out, he speaks about a lot of heavy stuff even outside of this drama, and he seems like quite an inspiring guy.
THIS. I've been a fan of all three of them since before 2021 (followed Sabrina since her debut album, discovered Josh & Olivia through HSMTMTS) and I continued to try separating their arts from the drama, supporting all of them and enjoying the songs, but with time goes and Olivia keeps not saying anything about it (just mentioning she "doesn't like her song being used to pit other people" but never addressing the hate the other parties continuously receiving), I'm disappointed. Now I can barely enjoy her songs anymore and will always speak up for any hate Sabrina/Josh keeps receiving because they both deserves so much better.
if you dont speak up for a boy in the process of dy1ng getting death threats from the community that you built, youre a terrible person. a simple "hey, i appreciate you guys resonating with my music but remember to not send hate towards anyone's way
Yh it’s kinda what annoys me when people say on practically all the videos about his songs, that neither of them did anything wrong and only deserve love and not hate. I obviously agree neither of them deserve hate, sending death threats is just crossing a line, but I do think Olivia should have done more. I mean how far does having the right to express yourself through music go when people are getting hurt this badly? And then you won’t even say anything about it? Not even privately to make sure they’re okay?
On the Zach sang show he said when writhing it the song was kinda about the Olivia stuff but after some time the song spoke to him more about his abused past
i really LOVED your reaction. it was an unbiased opinion and i respect you for that. i watched tristan and a few others react and i felt like there was a clear bias towards olivia and it was extremely unfair to joshua. he is so so kind, and he deserves to say his side. thank you so much.
All I have to say about him and his writing is SAVAGE! He's so good and his lyrics hit hard. He doesn't need a catchy tune to get his meaning across. Go Joshua
The shit Josh went through in the beginning of the year when DL came out and continued to go through when her album came out always bothered me and I always felt really bad for the guy. He deserves this time to shine, not essentially clapping back but just telling his side of the story. It also always rubbed me the wrong way that Olivia never spoke out about the immense hate him and Sabrina got bcuz of her songs, it just seemed insensitive in my opinion.
I think the craziest thing was that right after Driver's License came out, he ended up in the hospital with heart failure (from sepsis) and had a 30% chance of survival. The doctor pretty much said if he'd waited another day to go then he would've died, and he's only like 20. So he had to go through that and then come out of it while people were attacking him over the drama and deal with everything at once, which just seems so overwhelming... And it feels like everyone really glossed over that whole situation.
I really really liked this. I'll definitely listen to his other stuff too. I love Olivia and her music is sick too, there's literally no need for anyone to pick a side when you can just enjoy their music. They both have a lot of talent for their young age, and it's just the beginning! That was really impressive, thanks for making me discover him too.
I just realised the three songs are the stages of a breakup. He goes from sad to angry to accepting it and moving on. He’s literally going through the stages of the breakup with the songs
this was one of the best reaction videos ive ever seen. u really hit the nail on the head with how joshua meant for the songs to be perceived. if you are looking to see more of a side to him i definitely recommend watching his interview on zach sang where he explains the songs and shares how the year was for him during everything that happened. thank u for doing these songs justice!!
He went hard! Not dancing around the truth at all too, hope he's okay now and doing better but mentally and physically. It was so weird seeing people being like "I've never been in a relationship but I relate and I hate him too", this was honestly a surprise
I have lately been in love with Joshua's voice. There's nothing really unique about it but he really knows cadence! And these songs are really well done! I'm really looking forward to more from him. Like a full album! And a little more experimentation. It'd be perfect!
Joshua’s music is so great! Have you checked out Luke Hemming’s “when facing things we turn away from” album? If not the whole album, I’d definitely recommend: Place In Me, Diamonds, Slip Away, Mum, and/or Come Down (those are my favorites)
Oooh I've listened to Luke's album recently bc I'm starting to listen to a bit of 5sos, for like the last few days (bc as a one direction fan I've learned to like the 5sos members a lot) and Luke's album is so sick actually, I've loved it!
Set Me Free, that song kills me. you should really watch the interview where he talks about the context of that song. Gives a very different perspective.
The 'secret' was that she cheated. Josh said in an interview that he wrote it about 6 months before releasing so in about June/July and he wrote it the day after he found out she cheated (I think one of his friends told him). So she didn't know that he knows she cheated until this song came out, and I'm guessing the "you had me tricked for 16 months" means that they broke up 16 months prior to that and he never knew the real reason they broke up - if that makes sense.
I can’t help why YOU WONT MAKE IT END….. is in response to her absolute SILENCE to her hoards of fans who harassed and gave him death threats for a year. She just let the dragging through the mud happen… while she benefited.
I absolutely agree with you that Joshua said what he wanted to say in the most respectful way possible! Apparently he was done writing these songs over six months ago but didn’t want to ruin Olivias spotlight so he waited so she could have her moment. In the begging of 2021 when driver’s license was released he got so many death threats and got so stressed out that he had a heart attack and had 30% of survival! He then focused on himself and after that Olivia apparently has never talked to him again. I could be wrong but I think Joshua in an interview said that Set Me Free is about when he was sexually abused as a kid. It could be about the break up, idk! Really like your reactions!
just from this one video I can tell you're such a nice, kind, and understanding person. thank you for appreciating Joshua & his music and mentioning how respectful he is in them, and for such a great reaction video! new subscriber here!
Joshua's interview with Zach Sang was so awe inspiring, if you haven't heard it I highly recommend it. I admire his perspective on his life's journey so far. I wish I had his outlook at his age. I wish him love and light always!
I appreciate your takes on this. I do think his response was mature and he went the route of being vulnerable. Soft emotions vs. hard ones, showing tender sides of himself which takes a lot of courage when you’ve been attacked as hard as he has. He nearly died and I think it’s beautiful for him to show up in this way.
Since now I know that set me free is about SA, it takes on a whole new meaning. However, I'm not happy about people making it about Olivia. Josh wrote this song from the heart about his trauma. Me having been sexually assaulted by a family member, I understand this much more. Even though my assault wasn't as serious as others' stories, I still had to do a lot to heal. Knowing that he probably went through worse trauma, this is his way of healing. He is showing you that you don't have a hold over me, and he is saying, 'Set me free, stop and let me be!'. But oh well I may be wrong....
Suffi after hearing Crisis: “It’s good that he isn’t dragging her name through the mud and he’s just saying how he feels” Everyone who heard Secret: ‘yeah....yikes’
WOW I didn't think my suggestion would have so many votes! haha glad you made it and liked it :D I love Olivia's music and I these Joshua's new songs. We're all profiting on others pain unfortunately. Olivia aptly named her album SOUR for a reason. It's dismal how overblown the reactions towards Joshua were when everyone that ever had a break up should know better. And Olivia never spoke about it further than the lyrics she wrote. It was a choice she probably thought for the better even if it ended up not being. However none of them should bend over backwards to splash further into emotions or stories that they may not want to dwell further in. In the end, it's like always the age old "people suck"-problem .
I have been waiting for this reaction ❤ Fell in love with these songs the first listen itself xx He's an amazing artist and this gave us all his perspective which was needed I think. Listen to more of his songs ♥️
I’m so glad u reacted to Joshua. To get to know him a little better I would watch his Zach sang interview. It’s over an hour but I promise it’s completely worth it. Whenever u have ur own time to just sit down and watch it i highly recommend u do. I’m not going to go into all the drama and backstory just bc it’s not rlly necessary anymore and if u do watch the Zach sang interview you’ll kinda learn a little bit more. I do have some recommendations tho and I hope you’ll go into his discography. So here’s the recs: Feel something La live Only a matter or time Let you go from hsmtmts Heaven is you Telling myself Lie lie lie Do it all again Anyone else (the person filming the music video is actually Sabrina carpenter aka the girl also involved in the drama) Sorry Common sense I would also highly recommend reacting to Sabrina carpenter so here’s those recommendations as well: Honeymoon fades Exhale Sue me Skin (the song about the drama it’s directed towards everybody who hated on her) Skinny dipping Tell ‘em Diamonds are forever On purpose Thumbs Paris Take off all your cool She’s also releasing a song called fast times soon. Btw just so you know Sabrina is 22, josh is 21, and Olivia is about to be 19. Also lie lie lie and only a matter of time are not about the drama lie lie lie was written in 2019 and it’s about a Friend who lied basically and only a matter of time was written in 20 minutes and is actually about somebody who falsely accused him of sexual assault in 2020 and ended up admitting they lied. He has gone through SA which he talks about in the Zach sang interview.
thank you for being so so respectful when it comes to this situation. if you want to read more about what he has been through, id recommend you take a look at the interview he did with GQ magazine and then watch his interview with zach sang, it'll give you more of an insight into what exactly happened and how he's been demonized by teenagers on social media when he's actually an amazing person
I agree with everything you said, hat's why I generally don't really listen to the drama, but some people act like they know everything but it's NEVER the case, and then they think they know enough to be bullies.
I was originally on Olivia’s side and all but after hearing Joshua’s and Sabrina’s side I’m leaning towards Joshua and Sabrina, ima add a lot of his songs to my playlist
You should watch his interview on the Zach Sang Show, it’s long but maybe if you wanted to you could do it in parts. Josh is such a well rounded person and he deserves so much more credit.
Yk I discovered him over the drama, i have been a fan of sabrina carpenter (idk if u have hear about her but she was part of this drama too, lol) so i was kind of aware about what was happening even tho i was trying to avoid it cause some fans of liv were going so far and insulting her and saying awful things, but when this songs appear i couldn't help it and hear it and wow i was so surprised because i didn't really like his music too much before but this three songs have been amazing. I love them so much, and i think set me free is such a beautiful song, I think u can relate that to so many scenarios, joshua also said the song was related to the SA the suffered when he was a kid wich make this song so sad and painful. I hope he feels better now
I’m so happy you reacted to Joshua! his music is actually so amazing hope you do more reactions to him. He didn’t deserve all the death threats some people took it too far he ended up in a hospital with 30% chance of survival cause of all the stress. Man couldn’t do anything without people hating on him cause of Olivia’s songs. So yes I understand Olivia is allowed to write abt how she feels but I wish she would at least tell her fans to back off. They even send death threats to Sabrina Carpenter who people speculated was the blonde girl from driver’s license they went insane over that one line in the song. Honestly ridiculous. But you should also react to Sabrina Carpenter she has great music as well.
I haven’t finished watching this video yet so I don’t know if you know but I think this song is about all the hate he was getting online and a lot of rumours being spread about him ❤️ so I think it’s aimed at the public
I loved his voice. I will listen more of him. You need to react to Wrong Direction by Hailee Steinfeld. (About Niall Horan) and her Half Written EP which have songs that explain more about the relationship.
honestly I think crisis is just as much about labels pushing these headlines and "sensational" stories about them as it is about olivia. even if it was a real situation and not big pr drama for promo of three young artists (which is oh too common from record labels) from what I can tell from all their music it was just a messy situation and no one person was really in the right or wrong. there was mistrust in the relationship, no way to tell what initially caused it, she thought he was into another girl and leading her on. she found another guy to comfort her and then ended it and when j did end up with that other girl she felt justified and angry. and fair enough but like rebounding with the person your ex was always jealous of isn't an unheard of move after a breakup. and s probs never intended to cause any kind of issue she just happened to like a guy who had a girlfriend and was there to comfort him through the break up.
Great reaction like always man. If you like these you should check out “Lie Lie Lie” by Joshua Bassett. It’s also a banger little more fast paced and upbeat
All 3 videos were all shot in one take! Josh got told they didn't have a big enough budget for 3 music videos so he got around it by saying he was filming visualisers and filmed them all in one take! 😊
one of my favorite reactions to joshuas music, you should react to more of his songs! especially to LA(from his online concert) sadly is unreleased but is on his youtube channel. i would to see more of u reaction to josh!!
Just something to keep in mind olivia never said that her songs were about him. fans just ran with it and even went as far as sending him death threats. And not every song they write is about each other they’ve dated other ppl close to around the time they were “rumored” to be dating.
if you wanna listen to some great music and wanna see a lot of instruments being played live you should react to Coke Studio Pakistan. Here are some recommendations: Afreen Afreen by rahat fateh ali khan Tera Woh Pyaar by Asim Azhar and Momina Mustehsan Tinak Dhin by Ali Hamza, Ali Sethi Tajdaar e Haram by Atif Aslam.
I havn't really listened to his music(other than HSMTMTS) but I'm definitly gonnq check out his other songs now! I really liked the songs and I also loved your reaction to it :)
I've never listened to him before, all I know is that he dated Olivia and that he's a fan of Harry's (Olivia too actually, but I mean as they should). I totally should listen to his music tho bc that was so sick I love his voice. Also as a fan of Olivia's I always thought he seemed very nice from a few videos I've seen of him and he really got a lot of hate for nothing but tbh Olivia's not the one to blame, some of her fans are just dumb like any fandom.
Also in secret in the scene where him and the girl are going in a circle you can really see the acting come out. He is an actor but at the same time it’s not really acting bc he actually went through it
For a bit more context (this is all in my opinion and how I interpreted the songs): Crisis is less about his relationship with Olivia I think it's more about how when he was receiving all of the hate and death threats that he was getting she didn't do anything to get her fans to stop. At Driver's License's peak, he had a really serious medical episode due to stress caused by the amount of attack he was receiving. Secret I'm pretty sure is actually about Sabrina instead of Olivia. I could be wrong but I just noticed that in the music video he specifically cast a blonde girl (🎶you're probably with that blonde girl🎶) and her haircut looks really similar to Sabrina's. (edit:nvm I just read all the replies to my comment lmao) And finally, He talked about Set Me Free in a really vulnerable interview it's actually about the domestic abuse that he experienced during his childhood. He got really personal and honest about how much the abuse he experienced affected him to this day. This trilogy is truly one of the most honest songwriting I've ever heard. He was so respectful in every way but. He also did not hold back his emotions.
Josh and Sabrina are still friends I think he chose a blonde girl bc it relates to drivers license and plus the White car. Also he says “good for you fooling everyone” and “when your woe is me stops working I bet your songs won’t sound the same” meaning when her playing the Victim stops working her songs won’t sound the same. And also he and Sabrina didn’t date for 16 months and have barely known each other for 16 months.
Secret is not about Sabrina, this is a three part story. If you watch the music video, you’ll see the clues like white car, front yard and blonde girl. Also “good 4u foolin everyone” and “ when woe is me stops working, i bet ur songs wont sound the same” lyrics. In addition to those, Sabrina’s older sister Sarah has been working with Joshua since Telling Myself music video and she is also co-creative director of these 3 one-shot music videos.
hey you should check out : only a matter of time by Joshua Basset and also one of m favorite of him is heaven is you wherre he is singing live. Please check it out, it's worth it
TW : SA set me free is also heavily about the sexual assault that he suffered for years and he’s basically telling his abuser that he didn’t break him either
joshua almost actually died during the beginning of 2021 due to stress. he went into septic shock and heart failure. it’s a miracle he survived.
@The Tea lmao
@Karis Smith when was I disrespecting Josh. I am a fan of him. I'm talking about her and her fans.
@Ashlynn Siobhan don’t disrespect joshua like that.

Yea same
Especially because he could have also came at Olivia and said horrible stuff but instead like you said, he was being mature and respectful. And all he did was be supportive of her career, even though people were bashing him all over.
100%??!!!! That's so cool, love that for him 🤩
Joshua actually doesn’t really care about his career, but rather the people he is able to connect with. So in Crisis, he’s talking about her ruining his life as her career move. For example, he went to a coffee shop, where an employee played Olivia songs until he left. Since then, he hasn’t felt comfortable in public areas.
The supervisor came and apologized to him.
@Ayana Beau 04 yeah I thought so.
They’ve now changed their comment to Driver’s license. So now my comment just looks weird lol
@Thea Norlander it was driver’s license because lie lie lie was coming out around that time and he couldn’t promote it properly since he was in the hospital.
Wasn’t it during the release of Driver’s license, not Good 4 u?
when he talks about not being sure if he was gonna survive its bc not even a week after drivers license was released he suffered a heart failure and a septic shock. he had 30% of survival, the doctors told him it was bc of stress. he's really a genuine soul and such a respectful and kind person, you should check out his other projects!
And the stress was from all the hate cause of driver’s license😭
i love how in crisis you start off like you dont care about the drama but after the first line you're already hooked and theorizing like everyone else hahahah
I mean the song is literally about the drama, so there’s no escaping it lol
I really recommend checking out his interview on Zach Sang Show (not for a video), you really get an inside into his life during the past year, I would dare to say that he's really inspiring as a person, just how he managed to get through all the bad stuff that happened to him
Honestly that interview changed my views on a lot of things on a personal note...he is very mature and i am glad we heard his side
So glad you checked his music out, he’s so underrated.

Crisis and Secret are about Olivia and the harassment. Set Me Free is about SA and also the harassment
Yea it’s about his SA, Olivia, and the hate

Never judge someone by the choices they made when you didn't know their options my dudes

I obviously agree neither of them deserve hate, sending death threats is just crossing a line, but I do think Olivia should have done more. I mean how far does having the right to express yourself through music go when people are getting hurt this badly? And then you won’t even say anything about it? Not even privately to make sure they’re okay?
Also, after Secret... Traitor makes her sound like a hypocrite tbh. You can call him a 'traitor' for 'moving on fast' if you literally cheated on him
“I don’t care about the drama”
“Aaaaaaaa GOOD FOR YOU!! clever”
LOVE IT
😂lol
Joshua's last song was clearly about more than the whole Olivia situation, he said it was more about all the people that have hurt him.
And also about SA
On the Zach sang show he said when writhing it the song was kinda about the Olivia stuff but after some time the song spoke to him more about his abused past
i really LOVED your reaction. it was an unbiased opinion and i respect you for that. i watched tristan and a few others react and i felt like there was a clear bias towards olivia and it was extremely unfair to joshua. he is so so kind, and he deserves to say his side. thank you so much.
Agreed.
Josh's facial expressions are great cause he's an actor too, an amazing actor!
You should definitely listen too “let you go” by him it really showcases all parts of his voice and is a great song
@Abner Yates right! And his voice is just incredible in it
agreed, i think it might actually be his best song overall. it's so good
All I have to say about him and his writing is SAVAGE!
"i dont really care about break up drama..."
*proceeds to care about the drama*
I LOVE YOU DUDE
I really really liked this. I'll definitely listen to his other stuff too. I love Olivia and her music is sick too, there's literally no need for anyone to pick a side when you can just enjoy their music. They both have a lot of talent for their young age, and it's just the beginning! That was really impressive, thanks for making me discover him too.
It’s kinda hard not to pick a side when one person put the other through hell and didn’t do anything to stop it.
@infinity plus 1 I will, thanks for the recommendations 💘
Also, his Zach Sang interview is 100% recommended, that interview is like a whole therapy session!
I’d recommend you to check only a matter of time, feel something, LA (you can only find on youtube) and his self titled ep!
I just realised the three songs are the stages of a breakup. He goes from sad to angry to accepting it and moving on. He’s literally going through the stages of the breakup with the songs
omg ur so smart this deserves too blow up that’s so clever and true I love this thought😊
this was one of the best reaction videos ive ever seen. u really hit the nail on the head with how joshua meant for the songs to be perceived. if you are looking to see more of a side to him i definitely recommend watching his interview on zach sang where he explains the songs and shares how the year was for him during everything that happened. thank u for doing these songs justice!!
He went hard! Not dancing around the truth at all too, hope he's okay now and doing better but mentally and physically. It was so weird seeing people being like "I've never been in a relationship but I relate and I hate him too", this was honestly a surprise
@Desire Fr it’s so good
Okay I frickin' love "'Set me free", the chorus with the vocals! Mad respect! I'll have to check out more
I have lately been in love with Joshua's voice. There's nothing really unique about it but he really knows cadence! And these songs are really well done! I'm really looking forward to more from him. Like a full album! And a little more experimentation. It'd be perfect!
joshua is a great artist, I love his voice too much and his lyrics are incredible, he has a great future in music in my opinion.
Joshua’s music is so great! Have you checked out Luke Hemming’s “when facing things we turn away from” album?
If not the whole album, I’d definitely recommend: Place In Me, Diamonds, Slip Away, Mum, and/or Come Down (those are my favorites)
omg yess that album literally saved me last year :') i feel like not a lot of people know about it and it deserves so so much
YESS
@Felícia Bianco it's not important who it might be?
@Felícia Bianco no one knows and tbh we shouldn’t make assumptions
It was Adam Faze the guy?
I stan him hard, no crapping to anyone, don't care about the drama, I just love him
Fr
Same! I admire his resilience honestly. The guy is talented and kind and good hearted even after all the shit he's been through
I can’t help why YOU WONT MAKE IT END….. is in response to her absolute SILENCE to her hoards of fans who harassed and gave him death threats for a year.
Both as he said besides being about the drama, set me free was about what happened to his past
just from this one video I can tell you're such a nice, kind, and understanding person. thank you for appreciating Joshua & his music and mentioning how respectful he is in them, and for such a great reaction video! new subscriber here!
Honestly I love Joshua more than Olivia, they both have their good parts but I play Joshua's songs on repeat so many times.
Definitely adding Set Me Free to my Spotify. So good!
He's an underrated genuine artist and a beautiful person too.
Suffi after hearing Crisis: “It’s good that he isn’t dragging her name through the mud and he’s just saying how he feels”
Everyone who heard Secret: ‘yeah....yikes’
He’s is an amazing songwriter he came across as non confrontational yet taking responsibilities for his part.. loved it
These lyrics were pretty mature… I loved them all!
joshua is such an amazing underrated artist ughh
I’m so glad u reacted to Joshua. To get to know him a little better I would watch his Zach sang interview. It’s over an hour but I promise it’s completely worth it. Whenever u have ur own time to just sit down and watch it i highly recommend u do. I’m not going to go into all the drama and backstory just bc it’s not rlly necessary anymore and if u do watch the Zach sang interview you’ll kinda learn a little bit more. I do have some recommendations tho and I hope you’ll go into his discography. So here’s the recs:
Feel something
La live
Only a matter or time
Let you go from hsmtmts
Heaven is you
Telling myself
Lie lie lie
Do it all again
Anyone else (the person filming the music video is actually Sabrina carpenter aka the girl also involved in the drama)
Sorry
Common sense
I would also highly recommend reacting to Sabrina carpenter so here’s those recommendations as well:
Honeymoon fades
Exhale
Sue me
Skin (the song about the drama it’s directed towards everybody who hated on her)
Skinny dipping
Tell ‘em
Diamonds are forever
On purpose
Thumbs
Paris
Take off all your cool
She’s also releasing a song called fast times soon.
The third song is actually partly the about sexual assault he went through which just makes it so much more heartbreaking
@Sherlin G np!!
@Livia H oh really ? Thank you for telling me that I didn’t know
He said only part of it was abt that, and the rest was abt Olivia and the hate he got
This boy was literally in the hospital when Olivia was top of the charts
thank you for being so so respectful when it comes to this situation. if you want to read more about what he has been through, id recommend you take a look at the interview he did with GQ magazine and then watch his interview with zach sang, it'll give you more of an insight into what exactly happened and how he's been demonized by teenagers on social media when he's actually an amazing person
BY THE WAY- He donated the income from this EP to Mental Health Awareness Charities.
But you should also react to Sabrina Carpenter she has great music as well.
i really appreciate your reaction. thank you for really trying to understand every aspect of it!
I am IN LOVE with this reaction!
I haven’t finished watching this video yet so I don’t know if you know but I think this song is about all the hate he was getting online and a lot of rumours being spread about him ❤️ so I think it’s aimed at the public
You gotta do his only a matter of time live performance !
i love your reaction! please check another songs of him, his songs ARE REALLY GOOOD ^^
yessss
PLEASE react to more joshua bassett!!
i genuinely think you’ll like his music.
He is so talented
Amazing songs with incredible lyrics Joshua is so talented and such a great person
Breakups may be hard but it gives me good music to listen to. I don't want to live in a world where breakup songs don't exist. I live for them.
Joshua is a very sweet and genuine artist, sigh 🥺
I really loved your reaction to these songs :)
Yes, please react to more of his songs, they're great!!!!
Just something to keep in mind olivia never said that her songs were about him. fans just ran with it and even went as far as sending him death threats. And not every song they write is about each other they’ve dated other ppl close to around the time they were “rumored” to be dating.
The birds at the end always get me damn 😭❤🔥
if you wanna listen to some great music and wanna see a lot of instruments being played live you should react to Coke Studio Pakistan. Here are some recommendations:
Afreen Afreen by rahat fateh ali khan
Tera Woh Pyaar by Asim Azhar and Momina Mustehsan
Tinak Dhin by Ali Hamza, Ali Sethi
Tajdaar e Haram by Atif Aslam.
i can so relate to your reaction, you are literally me when i first heard joshua's ep.
I havn't really listened to his music(other than HSMTMTS) but I'm definitly gonnq check out his other songs now! I really liked the songs and I also loved your reaction to it :)
I'd love to see you reacting to only a matter of time, it's one of my favorite songs from him (and has nothing to do with Olivia).
And did you know that 100% of the money he makes from these 3 songs are all going to charity!!
Please react to LA and Only a matter of time, both by Joshua. I love these songs and i really think you'll enjoy them.
Joshua Basset- Only matter of time is perfect song.💗💗
set me free makes be bawl every time
YES I WAS HOPING YOU’D REACT TO THIS, CANT WAIT TO WATCH
Also in secret in the scene where him and the girl are going in a circle you can really see the acting come out. He is an actor but at the same time it’s not really acting bc he actually went through it
Joshua deserves more appreciation
You should definitely watch his interview with Zach Sang, you'll see what an inspiring person he is.
Great reaction! Check out "Only A Matter of Time" by him also.
No one should take sides. Good lyrics and good music should be rewarded regardless. Fans need to learn to separate the art from the artist.
You should react to his single Feel something, it's great too
Secret is a bop
For a bit more context (this is all in my opinion and how I interpreted the songs):
Crisis is less about his relationship with Olivia I think it's more about how when he was receiving all of the hate and death threats that he was getting she didn't do anything to get her fans to stop.
(edit:nvm I just read all the replies to my comment lmao)
And finally, He talked about Set Me Free in a really vulnerable interview it's actually about the domestic abuse that he experienced during his childhood.
Please check it out, it's worth it
yay i’m so glad you checked these songs out
Your reaction video is great you are asking the right questions
TW : SA
set me free is also heavily about the sexual assault that he suffered for years and he’s basically telling his abuser that he didn’t break him either
I have been waiting for this, but I kinda had lost hope you would react to Joshua's EP.
PLEASE react to the blue neighborhood trilogy from Troye Sivan!!!
I think you should watch Joshua Basset’s interview on the Zach Sang show, I think it gives a lot of perspective
loved the reaction
