You will attempt many things. Remember that a failure only happens when you give up. The cabin is your creation and is a reflection of you both (and a little Tal and Mads) which is amazing. You own this place, not just financially, but with the hard work, blood, sweat and broccoli spears…… 💜
Love everything you gals are doing! My girlfriend and I are working towards similar goals! Thank you your inspiration!! We watch every week and we are subscribed!
I feel as though you two are more than capable of completing your drywall... tape, mud EVERYTHING! You're my inspirations. Peace, love and hair grease! 💕
@Vanwives Yeah. I'm done. My dear @vanwives while I absolutely love you and the pups. As a retired English adjunct however, I deplore plagiarism no matter how seemingly inconsequential. Not that it matters to you, I won't be commenting anymore. Let @tracygellar copy from someone else.
It’s disturbing how much I get done in a day watching you two! Every time you get excited about accomplishing something, I pause and go accomplish something in my own home! Although, I am not nearly as excited. ❤
You two make challenging work look like fun! It's still work, yet when it's done with joy and a dash of forgiveness and your best buds, it turns into a party! Y'all cracked me up with your spontaneous stuff! 😄😆😅💞💞💞💞
You did great for your first time! I personally prefer the mesh kind of tape instead of paper tape, as it's self-sticking (you only have to put mud on top) so it's easier to apply. (I also feel it creates a stronger bond structurally.) So that might be something to try on a future project to see what you like working with best. But honestly, everybody has to mud and sand and mud again to get a really smooth finish. That's just how it goes, so don't feel bad. One actually important thing, though: It's considered best practice when drywalling to stagger your rows of drywall so you don't have four corners meeting like you see at 10:30. They should be more like a typical brick pattern where the seam for one row is in the middle of the next row's sheet. The seams are the weakest points, so staggering them is stronger, and it makes it easier to hide those seams when mudding. It's how the pros do it! :)
Yes, self adhesive mesh tape is the right stuff. I've got a roll of paper tape thet's 15 years old!!!! and you WILL need to sand and re-apply more filler "mud" xx
Every week I say you two are amazing! But I am always so impressed by what you accomplish...I don't have words for it. Love watching you two. You always bring laughs and joy to my Sunday evening. Thanks so much.🤩❤
I always enjoy watching your adventures but this video, especially when your friends showed up... made me sob. You are living a dream of mine being able to do what you're doing. The love between you, the energy, the joy, the willingness to try things you've never done before just blows me away. To have friends that just show up like that and double the love and energy! I wept! I can't call it jealousy because I'm happy for all of you. I just wish I were forty years younger, not ruled by fear and still had friends who were alive. I know you have troubles and problems like everyone else, but you have a special person to share that with. It's really too late for me now but I try to do little new things in my life today as my physical and mental conditions will allow. You inspire me. I really hope that when you go to bed at night, spent and exhausted... that you never forget how blessed you are to live this life, even with all its ups and downs and stay grateful! I wish you all the best and hope that you inspire others to do what you are doing! Smallest footprint on this glorious planet! Holy crap... Sorry for the book😱.. I'm just a lonely old lady that's really emotional right now. Keep up the awesome work! 💕
I so admire your courage and determination to tackle any job that needs to be done. Anyone who has hung drywall and/or finished drywall will tell you there is a learning curve. A huge learning curve. The only way to get better at it is to do it. That’s all of life, really. We only get better by living it. You two did a great job for your first time out! 👏👍💥 and, what a cool surprise having Tal and Mads sneaking through the woods! Already looking forward to your next post!
OK mama Berta here who did her She Shed help with drywall. My son told me to take a sponge damp, not soaking, but you can smooth out your drywall mud and make it smooth. Knock down the big chunks but you don’t really have to sand, makes such a mess to do that, so do it the girl way, no he worked in a hospital, and that’s what they did. Also a second coat of mud on your joints makes it look better. So much better with friends there I almost thought you had a Sasquatch! Laughter is the best medicine.❣️❣️❣️🙋♀️🌵🥰
You ladies are amazable (amazing + lovable) Hats off to your persistense and dedication to this project. Im sure it will be amazing!!! WE love that you're vibing with Tal & Mads, we love them too ! Thank you for making our Sunday!
I’m so jealous of your lives together in the woods! You girls get along fabulously and are so fun to watch! I look forward to each and every one of your videos!
Awesome video again that inspires me to not throw in the towel when projects fail at first ... thank you!! I love how you work to keep a positive attitude, support each other while teasing with good humor ... and the results turn out beautiful! I was terrified, and then so happy right along with you when Tal and Mads surprised you!! What perfect timing they had to help boost your spirits and to help with finishing the room they are staying in ... perfect!!
I never laughed so hard…..drywall, I still remember the mess when we built our home. It’s enough to give you nightmares. We hired the professionals 😂 Great job girls! Onward 👍❤️
with you two gals, once you put your mind to it, you two can accomplish anything. you have shown us that time and time again. love your persistence and perseverance. love you guys :)
You Ladies can do anything that you set your mind to. It will be beautiful when you are finished just like everything else you have done so far!! I am so proud of the two of you!! ❤❤
I don’t comment often but for sure one of the things I am waiting for is you Sunday’s videos!!! I love your spirit, your style, the love for your doggies, the house, van, land and fir each other!!! ❤ sending love and good vibes.
I think you can do anything that you put you mind and determination to. You two are inspiring to people that want to do things themselves. Stay safe and happy from Cincinnati
What I’ve seen in you’re videos is never doubt you both and you both do have a lot of patience. Just enjoyed watching this video a lot and appreciate all that you bring us and your both are so strong willed and failing never happens it’s just a set back
Ive been binging this for the last two weeks and loving every minute of it. 😅 I have a real estate business, and if I could throw my 2 cents in. When you do drywall, always get bigger sheets than you need. I think you used 8ft sheets. If you used 10ft, then you wouldn't have to do any butt joints, which are a massive pain in the a$$! Also, when mudding, apply more than you need, its always better to build up and sand down rather than have divits and bubbles. You got this.
You both ROCK! There are different ways to achieve dry wall, and mud. There's nothing wrong with the way you did it. It's the FUN of it that counts in the end. Love you gals, including your dogs too.
Drywall mud shrinks while drying, nothing you did wrong. The problem is if you put it on too thick, it takes alot more sanding, but you two will handle that too. Great videos, keep up the entertainment aspects :)
You gals are amazing, so inspiring. You get me to get up off my butt and try new projects. I’m now working on putting a new floor in my bath room. Thanks for the inspiration 😊
Taking on drywall with no experience, I was impressed with the job you did! I use mesh tape, so I don't have the bubbling issues you had. Glad Tal & Mads showed up when they did. Renovation is always better with friends. ❤️
Nothing funner than drywall! Except the cleanup! You got this ❤ Beautiful girls, you too can do hard things❤❤ Sumi says woof and the pups have the right idea🐾🐾🙏🐾🐾🙏💜🌎☮️🌎💜🙏🌈
Thank you, thank you!!! You two make the start of a week great!! You bring a smile to my face. So thank you!! I’d be freaked out if I saw people on my property. So glad they were friends. ❤❤
I bet it'll come out. You guys do everything great. You make everything look easy but we know how hard you work. Y'all are just determined smart talented creative woman. 👏🏾
You two are awesome!! I used to help an ex on drywall jobs. My favorite was mud and tape. A trick I did was not to apply first coat of mud too thick and when applying the tape, get the one end started and while running the tape, run the scraper down it as you go. This helps to smooth and push out air bubbles. Good luck!! Hugs to the pups!!🌝🌝
You two are so fearless! Drywalling is not easy. Hanging drywall is pretty easy, but the finishing is definitely not easy. It's so good to see my other two favorite women, Tal & Mads! Too much fun is about to happen! Love you four, six if you include Bella & Izzy. Much love! ❤
Of course y'all can do anything you put your minds to! Loved seeing your friends and I watched thier video lol 😂😂😂, they are so funny sneaking through the woods and I loved watching y'all hanging out together made me smile! Love y'all!
I think the cruel thing about drywall is that it starts off deceptively easy and just gets fiddler and fiddler. And it’s hard for your increased understanding later on to make up for/fix the mistakes you made early on (mistakes you didn’t even realize you were making, of course). But I think you’ll be glad you did it in the end.
Agreed with everything you said right here. We are happy we are doing it ourselves. That was the idea when we first started renovating the cabin to our home. Thanks for tuning in.💛🐾
What a surprise this week! I was worried for a second "Scared in the woods". I hope you guy's get some trail cams soon. I am all about safety. Love your videos every week. Keep up the great work.
That was too funny, going from scared, to horror, to laughing and tears within like 5 seconds. Just awesome seeing you all together again. Sooo much fun! (But can imagine the first shock, specially since hearing some noises the night prior (and obviously all the time being in the wild)
Ladies, I had a finish construction company years ago and I hung tons of drywall and taped and mudded thousand of screw holes and seams and I have to say you are impressive as hell. I like how well you two work together and how you take the time to study each aspect of the job you plan to do. Impressive. I remember when I was much younger having to hang 5/8" x 4 ft x15 ft dry sheet rock over my head by myself in a garage. I had to use aluminum stilts to get the height I needed. That was not fun. Anyway, you ladies are doing a great job. I love to watch the two of you tackle some challenging projects and complete each one of them. Keep up the good work.
Some quick tips for next time: The paper on the ends will just pull off in one long strip. Buy yourself a drywall screw setter bit so the screw doesn't punch through. Only $5 or so for a 3-pack. Use fibre tape, it is stronger but it also is sticky so it will stay in place on the ceiling. If you want a future crack free job, invest in some Durabond 90. Use it to fill the joints and then a thin layer on the fibre tape. It is more work to sand so do not leave excess on the panel. Think of it as a concrete foundation. If you have to sand it, use coarse sandpaper. Finish with regular drywall compound.
I'm pretty sure that drywall taping & mudding gave me carpal tunnel. I haven't finished the video yet, but a tip that saved me a lot of problems was that you can use a damp sponge mop to "sand" the seams. It's not going to work best in every situation, but the dust is insidious and anything you can do to keep down the dust is worth it. Also I learned that it can be really tricky to tell whether your seams are actually flat and not noticeably bulging until you put paint on because the paint will reflect light in a way that joint compound doesn't. My first room had noticeable seams in the end that weren't at all obvious before I painted.
“Doing something new can go a few ways……scared and excited…but just like every new experience at the cabin the first step is just trying” what a powerful statement for young/odd people alike in ANY setting. Not sure if your realized how powerful of a statement that was 17:02.
Hey Cee Jay, so cool that you found those words to be powerful, we agree. That is like a mission statement for us. Thanks for noticing and acknowledging!💛🐾
That’s awesome building your own house and doing all the work yourself. It’s quite amazing to see all you accomplished. I’ve not built a home but I refurbished my condo. There is only so much you can do inside with HOA management, but can still put hardwood flooring, paint, new plumbing and lighting. My friend, La’ona has built two remote homes, one is a cabin and the other is an A frame in Alaska. Her channel is called: 1 woman building in last frontier. It makes me want to try my luck with building but I work spring/summer/fall as a Wildland firefighter and it takes up all my time when building is suppose to take place in Alaska.
You guys remind me of myself, pro DIY'ers. I have a couple tips for taping. Tape goes on a lot better if you mix some water into your mud on your hawk before you apply it. For taping you want the mud at a consistency where it pretty much slides off the knife if you were to hold it perpendicular with the ground. Mud the seam, apply the tape. Then run your knife along the tape with some more mud while also pushing some of the mud out from under the tape but don't push it all out. only run your knife long ways though not side to side. Go back over it without anymore mud a few times, you want to actually remove some of the mud on the first coat, the idea of the first coat is just to get the tape wet enough to adhere to the drywall. With mudding alot of the time less is more. And you can sand and do a couple more thin coats after each one dries. Check out Vancouver carpenter he has a lot of very good how to drywall videos. Good luck.
Drywall finishing is an art form. It takes practice. Just keep in mind that the more mud you use the more sanding you’ll have to do. I think you did a great job! You’ll be able to start a construction company by the time you finish the cabin lol!
It doesn't matter if you hang the ceiling or walls first, it's a preference. Personally I like to hang the walls first because most walls are 8ft. and if you hang the ceiling first you'll have to trim all your wall sheets which are 4ft wide. to account for the thickness of you sheets. Also just an FYI. for future reference your sheets should be staggered. Typically you'd start with a full sheet and then the next row would be a half sheet. Looks good though, not trying to be critical just thought I'd mention it.
You are awesome both of you! Such a real pleasure to watch you every week and follow what's next as you can tackle any job!! You are the magic and we see it happen as that cabin is shaping up like no others! :) Big Hugz to both! Have a great week! Cheers
Not me having happy tears when you realized it was them! What a great surprise! I seriously thought this video was planned, until I watched it all the way through! Love you girls! Thanks for another great video! ❤️
Hey guys, we are fairly new to your channel, but we love your funniness, your laughter and your amazing skills!! We are looking more & more to your Sundays videos!! We think you did a great job on the dry walling being it was your 1st attempt!! Cheers from fellow Canadians. After the snow that we also got, damm cold will follow(snif snif snif). Please stay stay.
Love you guys! This was such a fun vid to watch. Drywall is very hard especially ceilings. Whatever you do don't paint your ceilings with high gloss paint. It shows every imperfection in your mudding. Peeps in the wood. I would encourage friends to never do this wo a warning that they are coming. Seriously, this could get dangerous in either you think it's them again but it's not, or it is them and you don't think is. And yes, working on house projects with friends is way better than just working by yourself or with your partner. As my Dad used to say, "Many hands make for light work."
Awesome video ladies ! nothing you girls cannot achieve ! drywall wizards for sure ! just killing it for sure > good to see Tal and Mads joining in the fun of finishing your fantastic home ! have a fun week look forward to next weeks instalment ! stay safe 😀😀😀
I’ve been watching you two for several years and I have come to the decision that y’all can do anything that you put your mind to. Also have you considered that a Bigfoot could be your neighbor?? Just a thought. 😊
The first time taping and mudding is always a pain. It's when you get to make the mistakes that you learn from for the rest. Glad you're doing the bedroom first. Love your closing message today. Just what I needed to hear. Love you, Pack!
Porter is such an amazing friend, checking in with you guys ☺️. Yes, you two can do the taping! I have to be honest, when you first started putting up the wood walls, I thought it would look better with drywall walls and wood ceilings, but I was wrong! It’s looking great!!!!! Great job you two! I stand corrected, great job you 4!!!
I think you girls are doing awesome job at it and you'll have all the patience in the world cuz you always finish what you start no matter how frustrating it can be
It helps to wet the tape in a bucket of water then kind of squeege the water off with your fingers and see how much easier it is to get it flat without bubbles.
LOVE THIS EPISODE!!! Might be my favourite one so far….tee hee…and John won’t stop doing the bend…and snap!!! 😂😂 thanks for the love and laughter - there is no better way to start our Sunday! 🥰😘
Hi Girls, haven't written in a while and as usual your doing a great job. I just started watching your Video and sense something is going to be very disturbing and uneasy to you both. Short quick story. I lived in the woods many years ago, during the "Peace, Love, and Rock n Roll era" and never thought one minute of any threat to me and my home, but one day, 2 very ugly and disturbing guys decided to break in to my place while I was sleeping and attack, tied me up and stole everything that meant anything to me. Now days, it's been happening more often than ever. Ladies!! It's time for you guys to consider buying a "Weapon" to protect yourselves and learn how to use it well. Your dogs can only warn you of the threat but can't solely protect you if there are more than one predator... You guys have been very smart to this point. Don't be foolish, GO BUY A Gun!!! Love you all.
The secret sauce on the tape is you soak it water, you measure it to length Cut it put in a bucket of water for about 20 minutes the same amount of time it takes you to first layer of mud then you put the wet tape up and mud over the top of it. Leave it as thin as possible. You can always come back a second time and another layer is easier than Sanding and use the widest knife possible on seams
Congratulations on your hard work! Your dedication and persistence have paid off and the results are truly impressive. Keep up the amazing work, your determination is truly inspiring.
This was too funny. My fiancée and I bicker the same way y’all do, and we’re a Leo/Scorpio couple too 🤣 Love your videos!! Watching them is part of my Sunday routine. ☀️
I've had my own business painting and drywalling for many years and every time nothing comes out as planned! A lot depends on temperature and humidly which plays a huge part when mudding! As novices you both are fantastic, you did your homework!
You two will figure it out you always do. So happy to see you both and the girls, thanks for making my Sunday you are my sunshine in these cold days, yes even in California. Be safe❤
Here’s what I learned after watching your videos for a very long time, never ever bet against the two of you🤔🤔!! another fabulous yet , funny video, and may I add, a very successful job and video !! I actually show some of your videos to my grandchildren who are of age now but barely, to never say never. And because they see you do it they don’t give up so easily. Can’t wait till next week to see what the two of you are up to !! 🥂🍾☺️✌🏼😎🥇🥇🥇
Of course you can do this! It will be rough at first but you’ll pick it up quickly. Right now I’m spooked about the person in the woods. That would really freak me out. Are there ANY neighbors close by? Are you armed?
What would you have done if you saw those two in the woods?! We tried our best to portray just how terrified we were in that moment… at the end of the day we know a few things for sure
1. Drywall is hard

Fiber table is better lay's better and don't bubble at all put tape don't either if the mud is laid thin enough but good job Ladies
Hehehehe gals!! I wish we could say we’re sorry but this was TOO fun 🤣🤣🤣🤣 love you, you inspire us every day 🧡
Are you are you poor

Please don't misunderstand each other.
please Trust each other.

They are amazing. I look for their video every Sunday.
I really show my age (54) when I use the word "Gals" 🤣🤣🤣✌️

Hey Tracy, yes we believe we’ve got this, we believe in ourselves!! See you next Sunday.💛🐾
At this point, no one should ever doubt that you two can do anything
It’s disturbing how much I get done in a day watching you two! Every time you get excited about accomplishing something, I pause and go accomplish something in my own home! Although, I am not nearly as excited. ❤

Do Canadians read Tom Sawyer in school?
Yes!!! We needed them and they just happened to be here 😂 So great to have friends around 💛

You’ve inspired me to go tape and plaster my bathroom and bedroom ceilings. I’ve been staring up at bare plasterboard and screws for oohh ten years? 😂
We just drywalled our garage. Easier than people think. And patience gets you through a lot in life! Glad you are always up for the adventure.

@Tee Pee, that would make 6. And, no, I didn't.
Oh you forgot the guys Todd and Tyler not that's complete
Aww we appreciate the huge compliment. Thanks for tuning in. See you next Sunday.💛🐾
Did y'all know that they were dropping by at some point?
Awesome video ladies! Hope you all have a wonderful week!!🥰

Always 😅💛
"A bend in the road is not the end of the road, it's the courage to carry on that counts." Needed to hear that today 💖
Thank you, thank you!!! You two make the start of a week great!! You bring a smile to my face. So thank you!! I’d be freaked out if I saw people on my property. So glad they were friends. ❤❤
You two are amazing!! Keep up the good work. Btw took the AG1 plunge because of you.
Y’all got this. You both have an insane amount of patience and persistence. There isn’t anything you two can’t get done.
Hey Jessica we appreciate the confidence you have in us.we will get er done! Thanks for tuning in .💛🐾
Any one can dry wall, the difference is how hard or easy it is. Yes we love Tal and Mads.
Tal and Mads just need to buy a cabin close to you. I adore all 4 of you.
Hey Heather, that would be so much fun. We may not get any work completed. 😂🐾
Yes, the first step is trying. I love how Bella loved the shoveling. I love your puppies.
I wait all week for you guys you really make my days so much better
Aww Abigail, so happy we can make your days better. You make our days so much better being part of
Our pack.💛🐾
I bet it'll come out. You guys do everything great. You make everything look easy but we know how hard you work. Y'all are just determined smart talented creative woman. 👏🏾
The "tape and bed" part of drywall is harder than it looks. Y'all did great.
Just sand around your mud edges and smooth out the seams. Good to go.
Eamon & Bec and Trent & Allie made such a big deal about drywalling. I think it all comes down to attitude.
So proud of u both…. Just subscribed & loved the polar vortex video
You guys can do anything you put your minds to. I have faith in you both. You go girls🥰
You two have proven time and again that anything is humanly possible by even a couple of girls!
You two are so fearless! Drywalling is not easy. Hanging drywall is pretty easy, but the finishing is definitely not easy. It's so good to see my other two favorite women, Tal & Mads! Too much fun is about to happen! Love you four, six if you include Bella & Izzy. Much love! ❤
Hey Phil, Bella and Izzy are always included with us! 💛🐾 Always so much laughter and fun with our besties, Tal and Mads. See you next Sunday. 🌞
I so admire your courage and determination to tackle any job. Your homestead is looking fantastic Jaz & Crystal ,
Some quick tips for next time: The paper on the ends will just pull off in one long strip.
Ok, so watching you two in the past, I have every faith in you that you will accomplish what you set out to do.cheers from Vancouver Island 😊
Best surprise having all the girls together again! Have a great week together!
Yes!! 💛💛 thank you Emily
You are doing a great job! I have one question for you. Should you have put a vapor barrier up first?
Good luck.
I can't imagine anyone else I would watch drywalling a room! I mean nobody! But as usual, watching you two drywall is a hoot.
Drywall finishing is an art form. It takes practice. Just keep in mind that the more mud you use the more sanding you’ll have to do. I think you did a great job! You’ll be able to start a construction company by the time you finish the cabin lol!
It was good to see a little frustration as you struggled to get drywall up. It made the episode feel more authentic.
The drywall was looking so good in the beginning :) So happy you got to refresh with your friends :)
I follow Tal and Mads and you two were really good sports about their surprise.
We were for sure scared but so happy finding out it was our besties Talandmads. Thanks for being in our pack.💛🐾
I actually paused it. You guys got this! I have absolute faith that you 2 can do anything. 👍🏻
Well that is quite a compliment. Thanks for believing in us!💛🐾
Love you guys!
I think you girls are doing awesome job at it and you'll have all the patience in the world cuz you always finish what you start no matter how frustrating it can be
Drywall is such a precise difficult job, but of course, you killed it!
It helps to wet the tape in a bucket of water then kind of squeege the water off with your fingers and see how much easier it is to get it flat without bubbles.
Of course you two can do this! Duh! You can do anything you set your minds to (and so can I)! ❤✌🏻
LOVE THIS EPISODE!!! Might be my favourite one so far….tee hee…and John won’t stop doing the bend…and snap!!! 😂😂 thanks for the love and laughter - there is no better way to start our Sunday! 🥰😘
Drywall was my fav part of my rebuild. Idk why it gets such a bad wrap
You make me want to live off grid soooooooooo badly!!! You make everything fun!!!
snow note: park vehicles facing outward prior to storms, thus you only have to shovel out the path not the turn around.
Congratulations on your hard work! Your dedication and persistence have paid off and the results are truly impressive. Keep up the amazing work, your determination is truly inspiring.
It looks really fantastic excellent job❤
This was too funny. My fiancée and I bicker the same way y’all do, and we’re a Leo/Scorpio couple too 🤣
Love your videos!! Watching them is part of my Sunday routine. ☀️
If only you guys had a drywall tape gun and drywall Jack that would’ve made things easier but you guys are killing it
I've had my own business painting and drywalling for many years and every time nothing comes out as planned! A lot depends on temperature and humidly which plays a huge part when mudding! As novices you both are fantastic, you did your homework!
I think you guys are capable of doing anything you put your mind to 😊
You two will figure it out you always do.
Ceiling goes up first so that the walls help support the edges of the ceiling.
Of course you can do this! It will be rough at first but you’ll pick it up quickly. Right now I’m spooked about the person in the woods. That would really freak me out. Are there ANY neighbors close by? Are you armed?
You women are miracle workers! Thanks for your positive attitudes and good work transforming your cabin! Most excellent!
