Hi Bonny and Emily! Not sure if you will see this, but I wanted to take the time and thank you for not only making these videos, and editing them, but for creating such a fun and inclusive environment. Your videos truly bring much needed joy and laughter into my life when times are difficult. Your channel is such a safe place because I know my passion for Taylor is not only understood but accepted. Thank you for the time you put into this channel. It’s greatly appreciated and doesn’t go unnoticed. Can’t wait to see what you have in store for the future of this channel. Hope you both have a good day!🤍✨
You have put words and thoughts out of my mouth and brain literally 😭😭. Well said Madison. I always feel accepted and appreciated if i just listen to these videos on this channel
Speaking of My Tears Ricochet, idk if you guys realized but she actually references each of her stolen albums in the first chorus: “I didn’t have it in myself to go with Grace” - State Of Grace - Red “And you’re the hero flying around, saving face” - Superman - Speak Now “And if I’m dead to you why are you at the wake?” - “oh cause she’s dead” - reputation “Cursing my name” - TWILY “2am and I’m cursing your name” - Fearless “Wishing you’d stay” - AYHTDWS- 1989 “Look at how my tears ricochet” - teardrops on my guitar - Debut
That’s amazing! I thought I was clever to pick up on the album / era references in Cardigan… “vintage tee, brand new phone”: Red (“hipsters”); “high heels on cobblestones”: 1989 (NYC); “sequin smile, black lipstick”: Rep; “sensual politics”: Lover.
AHHHHH‼️🔥🔥WHAT❓❗️🔥🔥She DIRECTLY wrote her first six albums directly into the first chorus⁉️🤯WHAT‼️ These six albums - her “JEWELS” he was wearing at her wake - were directly written into this song -> NOT MERELY IMPLIED❓‼️OMFG! 🤯🤯🤯🤯KNOCK OUT! 😵💫🥊 ❤️LOVE LOVE LOVE IT‼️‼️‼️To all who picked up on this stratospheric brain work -> YOU’RE FIRE TOO‼️‼️‼️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 For two years I’ve mainly understood “My Tears Ricochet”, repeatedly moved and blown away by it, but the higher degrees of her genius that’ve been lost on me…. A BIT DEVASTATING🙀 I FEAR TO FATHOM HOW MUCH OF HER DEEP ARTISTIC BRILLIANCE HAS AND MAY CONTINUE TO BE LOST ON ME. 📣Can anyone recommend deep analytical sources on her work? 🖋📝📽🎥 **NOTE: Bonnie & Emily Excluded**: I’m getting tired of the mainstay of reactions of TS’ work skewing, mischaracterizing, missing and getting TONS wrong. Loved the list! Think Death By a Thousand Cuts should've made this Extended Metaphor ranking! The entire song works because of the metaphor "saying goodbye is death by a thousand cuts". There's the obvious lyrics and idioms alluding to death -- "dress to kill" and "kill my time" combined into "dress to kill my time" -- but also how in the SUPERIOR bridge the extensive listing of the things (or the "my my my"s that are her "sound" for this song, "my wine, my spirit, my trust") make it seem like each one is a single stinging cut: and she has a thousand of them. I also think Death By a Thousand Cuts is an ancient sort of way to die, in a time when you could be sentenced to death by punishment such as being drawn and quartered or decimated, and the language like "story's over", boarded up rooms" evokes the idea of an old manor or something, or an ancient time as does "lawless land" and "great love, one for the ages"... idk, that's just the vibe I get. But yeah, that's my first addition. Second is Holy Ground!! It's the anti-DBATC, so just see everything I said, except with positive connotation where DBATC has a negative one! (Looking back on their relationship she feels like it was Holy Ground rather than feeling like it [ending] was DBATC). Great vid, as usual!
The whole video I was waiting for Ivy! It’s such a strong metaphor for reawakening and the way that a new love in your live can consume you; “My House of Stone your ivy grows. And now I’m covered in you”. It also tells about the danger of this all consuming love, “Crescent moon, coast is clear, spring breaks loose but so does fear, he’s gonna burn this house to the ground”. Also the old widow grieving and contrasting the circumstance of the narrator and Ivy is so brilliant.
I might be biased because it's my favorite song ever but "right where you left me" should definitely be a contender on this list! I like how the songwriting in that song can be taken both metaphorically or literally, in a supernatural kind of way. And I really feel like Taylor is going for both at the same time, you know? It feels really mystical and haunting and it completely encapsulates what she was going for with the lyricism in folklore and evermore.
Can I just say, in my tears ricochet she uses jewels to reference her albums. And then one of the new merch releases we got from midnights is the bracelet where each jewel represents and album.
Something I haven’t seen a lot of people talking about is the fact that cowboy like me can actually be connected to taylor and joe and their relationship, mainly when you relate the lyrics to other clear taylor/joe songs like ready for it, end game, cruel summer, cornelia street, false god, daylight, etc. I feel like these lyrics direcly correlate to the whole metaphor of cowboy like me: “Knew he was a killer / first time that i saw him / wonder how many girls he had loved and left haunted” / “knew i was a robber first time that he saw me / stealing hearts and running off and never saying sorry / but if i’m a thief, then he can join the heist” - talking about both of their pasts in a way that is extremely similar to clm “You’ve been calling my bluff on all my usual tricks” - relates directly to “i have some tricks up my sleeve, takes one to know one etc” “Back when we were card sharks, playing games / I thought you were leading me on” - same energy The whole idea of false god i think relates to the “forever is the sweetest con” line, meaning that even if it’s just a con or a false god, they’re still willing to go for it Daylight also has so many lyrics that relate to clm: “My love was as cruel as the cities I lived in, everyone looked worse in the light”/ “maybe you ran with the wolves and refused to settle down / maybe i stormed out of every single room in this town / threw out our cloaks and our daggers because its morning now” I mean, this is obv just my opinion, i could be totally wrong in this, but I feel like clm is such a layered song, you can read it superficially with just the cowboys and bandits concept, you can go a bit deeper and understand the fictional story about these con artists as taylor said in her post, you can read it as a story about two people who wouldn’t/couldn’t settle down, or you can relate it to taylor herself and her relationship with joe, and i think that makes the song even more profound and interesting, because it puts them and their past in a gray and kind of unflattering light, but also shows how their relationship changed them for the better
I totally agree!! There's also 'eyes full of stars/ starry eyes sparking up my darkest night' and the 'old guys that i swindled / toying with them older guys'. The ladies lunching could be a reference to all the girlfriends Joe had, apparently he was a ladies man. It's such a gorgeous love song, I can't believe she wrote it about anyone else other than Joe.
@albean37 “the old men that I swindled really did believe I was the one” never ceases to make me laugh. I know it’s supposed to tie in with the metaphor of I guess in modern day terms looking for a sugar daddy and using the old men for their money, but it makes me laugh because if we tie it into her real life, she’s basically referring to the older men she dated like John and Jake. Which is especially hilarious because we know from I bet you think about me that Jake was allegedly “scared not to be hip, scared to get old” and in this song, she calls him an old man. 😂 she has the classiest most metaphorical clap backs I swear. (Not a Jake hater btw, I don’t support the hate he got after Red TV - it was ten years ago and the focus should’ve been on the music and Taylor reclaiming her albums, not old drama but I just think the old man thing is kinda funny when you tie it into her past relationships and other song mentions)
@Toni Lovely I wouldn’t necessarily say that every song on folklore and evermore are about her and joe, but I see what you mean. They all definitely touch at the very least on feelings that are very real to her, be it about a past relationship or experience, but she writes them in such a clever way that they can work on multiple different levels
@albean37 YES! 100% agree with everything you just said! CLM is just such a beautifully written song, when I listened to it for the first time I just couldn’t fathom all the layers of meaning that she managed to create in the song. I feel like every time I listen to it I learn something new about it ❤
Me with almost every song on Folklore and Evermore. Bothers me so much when people say they aren’t about Joe, but it’s fair to say you do have to look for the connections if you aren’t already knowledgeable about their relationship
Ivy is like a triple metaphor, its consuming the house (person) in a way that can be beautiful on the outside but, also warping the house into a something new or even rotting it to the inside, its not the same house (person) it once was and ivy was often presented to the bride and groom as symbol of everlasting life, devotion, fidelity and loyalty.
I saw the title and immediately thought of Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince. THANK YOU for giving her the attention she deserves! Very overlooked song. You guys should probably learn some French because Bonny's shoulder will need to go to the hospital by the end of the Midnights reaction video. Emily is going to go OFF!!!!! TEN DAYS!! 🕛😜💙
I'm halfway through this video and my god you girls chose SO well (as always), you really have the most incredible insight and this ranking video might be favourite so far (GENIUS idea). Just wanted to quickly say that Bonny, your editing is SO phenomenal, you are so deeply talented it's actually concerning. Again thank you both so soooo much for doing this for us❤❤❤
I do have to say that Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince is one of my absolute favorite songs on Lover for sure. You’re right, maybe not my favorite ever. But it is such a fulfilling song to listen to when I felt (still feel) that way about politics. And of course the metaphor is superior!!
While not a metaphor, I’ve always loved her ability to discretely reference her past in MAATHP in the first verse, “crazier for you than I was at sixteen, lost in a film scene” being a reference to writing the song Crazier, which she sung in a scene from the Hannah Montana movie.
Would have loved for False God to be in there! But I absolutely understand and respect this list as well! I guess that's the beauty of Taylor Swift's discography, there's so much to choose from; and they're all right answers 😍
when you said that miss americana was nobody’s favourite taylor swift song broke me a little. it’s probably my fave song on lover! i just love the unique sound it has!
One of my all time fave Taylor Swift lyrics is “And you’re the hero flying around saving face”. Just SUPERIOR and makes me think of a few people in my life I’ve happily left behind
I also feel like the high school metaphor of Miss Americana & the heartbreak prince ties back into New Romantics where Taylor says that life’s just a classroom. Love New Romantics btw🎉
I‘m really surprised that Cardigan and Gold Rush didn’t make it onto the list but I still respect the ranking. (Getaway Car and Mirrorball are INDISPUTABLE 1&2)
i always took the line in new years day “don’t read the last page” to mean the opinion-editorial page of a newspaper, which reflects the idea of reputation and how the media twisted her reputation & her asking joe not to read it; she also references this in delicate & this is why we can’t have nice things “my reputations never been worse so he must like me for me” and “he ain’t reading what they call me lately”
Hi girls! It's such a great and creative video, thank you so much!!!♥️♥️ Also I loved that you used the instrumentals of the songs as a background music, it was a great idea!♥️ Amd guess what, this time last year my favorite song from Taylor was Miss americana😂♥️ I guess part of the reason was that we have a very similar political situation to what the song describes but also the imagery that you also talked about is so unique and fantastic. Have fun in Paris!♥️♥️
Hi honey, oh so glad you loved the instrumentals, was really fun to Edit! Haha omg sorry to attack and say it’s no one’s fav, we didn’t really mean it! totally get it and how it would be relatable going though that 🤗🫶🏼
Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince is actually in my top ten overall! I listen to it all the time and have “Boys will be boys then, where are the wise men” as a phone case 💌 It’s so haunting and unique to what she usually does and I think that’s what I love about it!
I’ve always thought about how the colour Red is known for being enticing but in the end, deadly. Like berries that are red signal poison, but you’re more likely to be drawn to them due to the bright nature. Exactly like a toxic relationship 🤯
“rough on the surface but you cut through like a knife” reminds me of end game where she says “you’ve been calling my bluff on all my usual tricks”… you can tell Joe was unlike any of the lovers she’d had before and could really see right through her or see her for who she really is
Bonnie and Emily, I loved this one! Very interesting and clever video concept :) I don't really have anyone in my life who loves Taylor as much as I do, so I always appreciate getting to "hang out" with you guys as you discuss her music. My honorable mention is "Long Live"!
I need you both to know that when I did my song ranking, Miss Americana came in as my second favourite TS song after Long Live. For one thing, sonically it gives me serious dopamine. For another, the metaphor makes it relatable even though it's about American politics. So. Let's give it the respect it deserves please 😂
I've always loved how the outro of OOTW adds to the chaotic/anxious feeling of the song, but sounds really good at the same time. Definitelly one of my favorite outros by Taylor.
AND with willows having such strong, deep, and invasive roots, things don’t/can’t really grow or get too close to the tree so it’s almost like willows have to grow in their own little clearing (the clear from Out of the Woods!) which is also perfect for how their relationship is way more private 💚
I’m only 4 minutes in but I would just like to say MA&THBP is INDEED one of my favorite songs are you kidding meeeee it was my number one on lover for so long and now it is just behind daylight for me bc it is written so welllllll and the Melodies and the drums and the production I love ittttt and then the cheerleader vocals on “Go! Fight! Win!” Is superior I love love love it I’m a stan
“The archer” is like when you are completely happy and safe and in a healthy relationship but all you ever know is chaos, so you keep looking for it and causing it without realizing it’s all in you. And then one day you find this out and keep questioning yourself whether is this a necessarily fight or your hurt you bringing darkness to light
You just made me fathom the archer on a whole new level that I’ve never comprehended. I’ve been so confused by this song for years and peoples love for it. I’m only NOW realizing i AM the archer and THE prey. I can never bring the peace 😮
Well, I was definitely surprised to see cardigan not being included, I actually thought it would at least be in the top 3 😅 One of my favorite metaphors she‘s ever used
I rarely post comments on KZclip, but i just wanna say thank you girls so much for these videos, they are so comforting and entertaining as well. + when you were talking about coney island i transcended into the imagery of it, i loved this song from the first time i listened to it, but i just fathomed how beautiful it is when i heard you girls talking about it, have a great trip ❤❤❤
Love this!! I would love to see a video of you guys breaking down the song timelines of Taylor’s past relationships! I know, when you talked about the Red vault tracks, you mentioned that you had a song timeline for her and Harry’s relationship - please share and educate us!!😍😍😍
I have timelines for every year of her life, every relationship, every friendship, but the Harry one alone covers 2012-2022 so they’re all long😭As well as lyric by lyric breakdowns for every released song & 158 unreleased songs, etc-
Finally some love to "Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince"!! that's one of my favorites songs from Lover and it hurts me how it gets so little credit 😭 thank you for putting this masterpiece in the list!!! lots of love from Argentina 💕💕
I LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH you make my day so much brighter!!! thank you for being there for swifties like me who don’t have any swiftie friends! so excited for your future midnights videos!!💗💗
i got so excited when they revealed mirrorball as number two!! i feared they wouldn't include it, so when i finally heard it i physically jumped i was so happy hahah
At 22:30, also the opening lines of Happiness also have to do with this metaphor with the trees. "Honey, when I'm above the trees, I see this for what it is"! She saw their relationship as an important lesson for them!
I love how you are doing another ranking video right as i decided to rank all of taylor's songs today. And obviously i did it while watching the video where you two did it. I just appreciate this channel so much, I haven't had many friends lately and watching your videos feels extremely comforting to me. I wanted to thank you for giving us so much content lately. Yes you represent swifties very well but it feels so special because you dont only react, which is so special because you share those moments with us. But you also talk about things and you share your ideas which is so helpful. Thank you for this channel. Bonny I hope you enjoy Paris. Emily I hope you enjoy paris (soon).
@Elisa Grones I love the list (especially treacherous) but I love even more the fact that you wrote the folklore and evermore tracks in lowercase this is giving true swiftie and I love it. And Hey Stephen is so good !!
@Toni Lovely 1. 'tis the damn season 2. So it goes… 3. This is me trying 4. Illicit affairs 5. Crazier (yes i know) 6. All You Had To Do Was Stay 7. cardigan 8. Long live 9. Betty 10. Treacherous 11. London boy 12. The Way I Loved You 13. All Too Well (10 minute version) 14. Picture to burn 15. Forever Winter 16. tolerate it 17. Hey Stephen 18. mad woman 19. The last time 20. The Other Side of the Door
I’m so happy y’all included Miss Americana! I absolutely love that song and i love all the messaging in it! The beat is also very catchy, like even if you don’t connect to the political messaging, i think it’s still very catchy and a bop.
Oh My God thanks for this video!!! I really love watching this and see how you give your theories and all that stuff. Don't you think that wonderland and Love story are some of the best metaphorical songs from Taylor?? Well its just an opinion. Thank you so much please please keep giving us more videos and you are amazing. Kisses from SPAIN!!!!!
Thanks for making these videos. I moved abroad recently and I've been struggling so much with homesickness and loneliness. But your channel has been such a solace for me - feels like just hanging out with friends and talking about Taylor Swift. I'm so looking forward to your Midnight's video (fun fact, I'm now living so close to Paris so it makes me happy that you're also gonna experience Midnight's in France too!). 💜💜
I think shotgun shot could also refer to the ‘shotgun’ term when driving in a car with someone. Riding ‘shotgun’ means riding in the front of the car - the passengers seat. For the first verse I think she’s referring to this. We never had a shotgun shot in the dark. There was no chance this relationship was gonna take the front seat. However I think in the second verse she then ties it into the crime aspect of the song, saying it hit you like a shotgun shot to the heart.
loved everything about this video !! i am yet again making a playlist with most of these songs and a few others because they are somehow a new vibe i didn't know i needed. also thought you might like to know my uni has a Taylor Swift Society (there are hundreds of members it's amazing) and last time I went I was telling a friend all about your channel because I am simply obsessed !!!
you guys look amazing as always! I’ve always loved how some songs that might be near the bottom of my ranking are some of her best meaning songs, b it I find myself listening to the songs that send a message more than songs I can relate to. Great video!
Congrats for hitting 100k! So excited for everything you have achieved and the wonderful community you've created 💞 thinking that probably the next video is midnight's reaction 😭😭😭 I can't - 💞💞
I seriously feel like you guys just took me on a tour through Taylor’s brain. Like we just boarded the magic school bus and went for a stroll through her head! You guys are genius for being able to decode all this!
I watch your videos since the lover breakdown and love your work so much!❤️ I would like to see a video about the first singles of all the albums and which songs you would have chosen
1. Both of you look absolutely stunning in this video, like those colors were meant for both of you. 2. I love the editing touch of having the song you're both talking about playing lightly in the background.
I would include gold rush to honorary mentions. Dating with the person that everyone admires as if they were gold in 19th century. This metaphor ties the song together so well! Also intro and outro somehow connect with the vibe and this metaphor, even though Taylor does not specifically mention gold rush there And yes, #goldrushforever
I love cardigan - symbolism for putting me on as in playing me or as in cherishing me when no one else would OR like putting on an album and fans say she's our favourite! So iconiccc
Now bonnie can sit in front of the TV, she is blonde too! Before folklore never in my wildest dreams I would have thought I would be watching a 1.23 hours video about Taylor's best metaphorical songs and enjoy it. Thank you girls :)
Clicked immediately to the notification and already soo excited!! This issue is a genius idea😍 Thank you girls for all the work you’re doing Every new video makes a day brighter💖
Guys!! Thank you for including Clean, The archer and Ivy for me are the most offensive metaphors. When I started being a Swiftie I just couldn’t believe that some one could write this way!! She is so clever!!
Love for Wonderland is absolutely amazing it’s my moms favorite Taylor swift song ever, and it always makes me want to watch the movie !!! Superior metaphor and taste!!!
Also, when she said “I’m crazier for you than I was at sixteen lost in a film scene” she’s referring to Hannah Montana the movie, when she was 16, in a film scene playing Crazier 🥹🤯 her mind!! 😍
The timing of this! 2days ago I was thinking of making a metaphorical Taylor Swift playlist and than I was like “so getaway car and love story… wait what counts as a metaphor song again?” I spiralled
When I first heard My Tears Ricochet I wasn’t into it. I thought it was related to the cardigan storyline or whatever it was before we figured out what the three related songs were. Once I figured out that it was personal and I wrapped my head around the metaphors, it became one of my faves on the album. And most of these songs are my faves, so now we know what I care about 😅
I’m gonna send this video to my mum. The other day she made a comment about Taylor being literal and not using many metaphors. I was so shocked by the statement that I couldn’t think of any good examples but this video is the perfect response.
I could be wrong but I think New Year's Day is also about the quiet moments that are just for them. Like, the party is when there are loads of people around, and it's very flashy, etc. But then the next morning everyone else has gone home and it's just them and I love it. I totally agree with it being representative of the good and bad times in their relationship, but have you ever tidied up after a great party with someone you love? Everyone else is gone, everything is quiet and peaceful, every time you turn around there's a memory that makes you smile, you can see a feather on the floor and you both burst out laughing because of something that happened last night that will be an inside joke with you and like three other people forever... It can honestly be amazing fun. And it's so different but at least as real as the party, which I kind of see as representing the parts of their relationship that the media sees.
AHH the joy I feel when I see your uploads is like Christmas morning! Thank you for making content like this while we anticipate Midnights! also, not the mirrorball meme in the thumbnail 😂
Haven’t started the video yet but right off the bat, the ones that come to mind for me are Getaway Car, The Archer, Cardigan, Clean, White Horse, Love Story, New Year’s Day, Red, Holy Ground, Willow, Ivy, Gold Rush, Death by A Thousand Cuts, Invisible String, Exile, Mirrorball
I saw someone on reddit talking about the significance in the chorus of MTR being linked to the albums that were sold: "I didn't have it in myself to go with GRACE (state of grace - red) And you're the HERO flying around saving face (superman - speak now) And if I'm DEAD to you, why are you at the wake (the old taylor is dead - rep) CURSING my name (the way I loved you - fearless) Wishing I'd STAYED (all you had to do was stay - 1989) Look at how my TEARS ricochet (teardrops on my guitar - TS)" I don't know if it's just a coincidence but if she did plan this, it's even more genius
Out of The Woods is also a parallel to Snow White lol. How she's lost in the forest, scared of everything around her trying to get her, but they were just trees, her paranoia made her think they were monsters.

I always feel accepted and appreciated if i just listen to these videos on this channel
couldnt have said it better ! really thank you for creating this environment I feel so understood here ♡
I'm still at the beginning. You're telling me that Ivy doesn't make the list? But they stan Ivy so hard!
Speaking of My Tears Ricochet, idk if you guys realized but she actually references each of her stolen albums in the first chorus:
“I didn’t have it in myself to go with Grace” - State Of Grace - Red
“And you’re the hero flying around, saving face” - Superman - Speak Now
“And if I’m dead to you why are you at the wake?” - “oh cause she’s dead” - reputation
“Cursing my name” - TWILY “2am and I’m cursing your name” - Fearless
“Wishing you’d stay” - AYHTDWS- 1989
“Look at how my tears ricochet” - teardrops on my guitar - Debut
That’s amazing! I thought I was clever to pick up on the album / era references in Cardigan… “vintage tee, brand new phone”: Red (“hipsters”); “high heels on cobblestones”: 1989 (NYC); “sequin smile, black lipstick”: Rep; “sensual politics”: Lover.
This is genius
WOOOW!!
😵💫🥊 ❤️LOVE LOVE LOVE IT‼️‼️‼️To all who picked up on this stratospheric brain work -> YOU’RE FIRE TOO‼️‼️‼️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
For two years I’ve mainly understood “My Tears Ricochet”, repeatedly moved and blown away by it, but the higher degrees of her genius that’ve been lost on me…. I haven’t been able to find many truly sophisticated resources that delve into her songs’ lyrical and musical content as well as context, including lyrics and musical samples, chords or melodies that too are referencing external things, esp. her own past songs, as well as those of other artists. 🙏🏽I’d be so so grateful for resource suggestions. 🙏🏽💐AND MOST OF ALL, THANK YOU FOR READING THIS COMMENT. I’d LOVE to hear yours on this topic. 💞BEST, and… 😊LONG LIVE!🏔🐉💞
i got goosebumps..
Would love to see individual videos breaking down her track 2's, track 5's, track 3's etc
I don’t think they’ll do it because they already do the album breakdown videos so I don’t know what exactly they would say beyond that
Everybody, take out your notebooks. English class is in session. 📒 Thank you Bonny and Emily for this superior education!
This one is sooooo deep!!

can you explain to me how you time stamp a video that you didn't make? i've been trying to figure it out, but i can't.

YESSSS I would love a punisher breakdown since she’s recently entered the Taylor swift cinematic universe
THISSSSS
YESSS THISSS. I expected Ivy the entire time!
Same!! Just came back to this video altering hearing it again and being like oh this needs to be on the list!
i was waiting for this one! such a superior metaphorrr!!
Can I just say, in my tears ricochet she uses jewels to reference her albums. And then one of the new merch releases we got from midnights is the bracelet where each jewel represents and album.
Yesss! I didn’t catch that!
omg thats so cool
“Evermore is a perfect album.” -Emily speaking facts!!
emily: i can confidently say miss americana is nobody's favorite
*miss americana being in my top 3 of all time* 😭😭😭😭
Plsss it’s my fav 2 !!! 😭
@Swiftie Nifty You should do it according to the fonts used in Album titles, like in Reputation 😁
SAAAAME. IT WAS MY IMMEDIATE FAVORITE THE MOMENT I HEARD THE WHOLE ALBUM!!!
@reagan 💗 Thank you! I know where I want it (in one of my "hip dips" lol) but I can't decide on the font!
@Swiftie Niftythat is amazing
I feel like these lyrics direcly correlate to the whole metaphor of cowboy like me:
“Knew he was a killer / first time that i saw him / wonder how many girls he had loved and left haunted” / “knew i was a robber first time that he saw me / stealing hearts and running off and never saying sorry / but if i’m a thief, then he can join the heist” - talking about both of their pasts in a way that is extremely similar to clm
“You’ve been calling my bluff on all my usual tricks” - relates directly to “i have some tricks up my sleeve, takes one to know one etc”
“Back when we were card sharks, playing games / I thought you were leading me on” - same energy
The whole idea of false god i think relates to the “forever is the sweetest con” line, meaning that even if it’s just a con or a false god, they’re still willing to go for it
Daylight also has so many lyrics that relate to clm: “My love was as cruel as the cities I lived in, everyone looked worse in the light”/ “maybe you ran with the wolves and refused to settle down / maybe i stormed out of every single room in this town / threw out our cloaks and our daggers because its morning now”
I mean, this is obv just my opinion, i could be totally wrong in this, but I feel like clm is such a layered song, you can read it superficially with just the cowboys and bandits concept, you can go a bit deeper and understand the fictional story about these con artists as taylor said in her post, you can read it as a story about two people who wouldn’t/couldn’t settle down, or you can relate it to taylor herself and her relationship with joe, and i think that makes the song even more profound and interesting, because it puts them and their past in a gray and kind of unflattering light, but also shows how their relationship changed them for the better
Again thank you both so soooo much for doing this for us❤❤❤
heheh omg I smiled so much reading this, thank you Farah 🥹💕🤗
Bonny and Emily, just want to thank you for helping me through life. It's kinda lonely rn. You both are such a blessing to me and to us Swifties :)
Random evermore ranking at 52:35 is so chaotic and yet important
Bonny, we need to know yours as well!
As an English major/literature nerd, your acknowledgment of the distinction between metaphor and simile spoke to my soul 😅
MA&THP consistently makes it into my top 30 TS Songs and is always in my top 5 on Lover.
SAME!! Love it
I’m surprised Cardigan wasn’t in the top 10. That song is a massive metaphor for Taylor and her relationship to her fans and her music and her fame.
Also love your videos, bless this channel🙌🏻
I‘m really surprised that Cardigan and Gold Rush didn’t make it onto the list but I still respect the ranking. (Getaway Car and Mirrorball are INDISPUTABLE 1&2)
i always took the line in new years day “don’t read the last page” to mean the opinion-editorial page of a newspaper, which reflects the idea of reputation and how the media twisted her reputation & her asking joe not to read it; she also references this in delicate & this is why we can’t have nice things “my reputations never been worse so he must like me for me” and “he ain’t reading what they call me lately”
yesss!! you guys should one of these videos for "story" songs (as in figurative stories i.e. no body no crime, the last great american dynasty, etc.)
I would love that!!!
Thank you to couch bestie Kara for advocating for My Tears Ricochet!!! 😭
Yes😂😂😂
Bonny I absolutely love how you edited in the parts of the songs whenever you quoted a lyric, this video is so pretty!
Hi girls! It's such a great and creative video, thank you so much!!!♥️♥️
Also I loved that you used the instrumentals of the songs as a background music, it was a great idea!♥️
Amd guess what, this time last year my favorite song from Taylor was Miss americana😂♥️ I guess part of the reason was that we have a very similar political situation to what the song describes but also the imagery that you also talked about is so unique and fantastic.
I suggested this and I am SO happy you made this video!!! Her metaphors are SUPERIORRRR
when miss americana and the heartbreak prince is your favorite taylor swift song 👁️👄👁️
@Toni Lovely
OMG. i knew there’d be someone. you’re the only person i’ve seen have it #1, very cool of you
Love seeing the evermore track list represented again 😍 so great you two!!
So excited to watch this!!! Just as an idea, maybe you could do a ranking of her best singles!!
Sending loveeee
This is so interesting! Well-spotted! 😍
I LOVE the way you edited this with the music in between your talking! It is SUPERIOR editing!! Well DONE!! Love you two!
MA&THP is one of my favs from Lover and honestly in my Top 30 of all Taylor songs! i really love it ❤
You girls have no idea how happy you guys make me by just talking about taylor swift!!!!
Love both of you sm🥰
You just made me fathom the archer on a whole new level that I’ve never comprehended. I’ve been so confused by this song for years and peoples love for it. I’m only NOW realizing i AM the archer and THE prey. I can never bring the peace 😮
Love these videos. You should do her best sarcastic lines/burns next.
I know, when you talked about the Red vault tracks, you mentioned that you had a song timeline for her and Harry’s relationship - please share and educate us!!😍😍😍
I have timelines for every year of her life, every relationship, every friendship, but the Harry one alone covers 2012-2022 so they’re all long😭As well as lyric by lyric breakdowns for every released song & 158 unreleased songs, etc-
It’s literally the perfect time to react to Lana now that she’s on a feature. When are the videos coming?
@HAKSIYWVE makes sense thanks for clearing that up but damn :/
they already know her whole discography! they said they would be making breakdown videos on her albums soon.
Same 🤧
i got so excited when they revealed mirrorball as number two!! i feared they wouldn't include it, so when i finally heard it i physically jumped i was so happy hahah
I'm brazilian and I study my english through the videos of you two!!!
love u both and taylor so much 💟
Snow on the Beach will absolutely make this list. It's 💯 a metaphor
I feel like midnights is definitely gonna have some genius metaphorical song in it.
I LOVE this video idea! 😍 So much fun to analyse her songs with you, so much I overlooked in the past haha
The agressiveness in Emilys excitement is so reletable. I slap my friends out of euphoria too lol
@Toni Lovely LITERALLYYYY. I love it, thank you for letting me share this with you!
@Elisa Grones YOU KNOW WHAT?? BC CRAZIER IS TOP 3 FOR ME. I love this list, taste is immaculate!!! Can’t wait to see how Midnights changes this
@Toni Lovely
1. 'tis the damn season

Bestie share your ranking???
I’m so happy y’all included Miss Americana! I absolutely love that song and i love all the messaging in it! The beat is also very catchy, like even if you don’t connect to the political messaging, i think it’s still very catchy and a bop.
Miss Americana and the heartbreake prince is my favorite music from Lover
Great video!
miss americana and the heartbreak prince was actually my favorite taylor swift song for such a long time!! it’s even my most played taylor song
I watch your videos since the lover breakdown and love your work so much!❤️
I would like to see a video about the first singles of all the albums and which songs you would have chosen
Also intro and outro somehow connect with the vibe and this metaphor, even though Taylor does not specifically mention gold rush there
And yes, #goldrushforever
Yea!!!
this video made me fathom so many metaphors i hadn’t fully comprehended before (e.g. new year’s day) and has given me a new appreciation of them !!
It comes as no surprise that Getaway Car was number one because it's just simply iconic.
Clicked immediately to the notification and already soo excited!! This issue is a genius idea😍
Thank you girls for all the work you’re doing
Every new video makes a day brighter💖
New Years Day needed a video. Such a beautiful song! I think about all these people who don't have this song in their lives. Such a pitty.
The fact that my tears ricochet is just making a list now is illegal!! It is just too superior it deserves its own list to be far.
And most of these songs are my faves, so now we know what I care about 😅
Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince is one of my fav TS songs
Me hearing this having Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince being my favorite Lover song 😂
Wow this is such a good video idea. Great job as always- whenever I see a new upload from this channel it makes me smile.
I saw someone on reddit talking about the significance in the chorus of MTR being linked to the albums that were sold:
"I didn't have it in myself to go with GRACE (state of grace - red)
And you're the HERO flying around saving face (superman - speak now)
And if I'm DEAD to you, why are you at the wake (the old taylor is dead - rep)
CURSING my name (the way I loved you - fearless)
Wishing I'd STAYED (all you had to do was stay - 1989)
Look at how my TEARS ricochet (teardrops on my guitar - TS)"
I don't know if it's just a coincidence but if she did plan this, it's even more genius
Out of The Woods is also a parallel to Snow White lol. How she's lost in the forest, scared of everything around her trying to get her, but they were just trees, her paranoia made her think they were monsters.
