Go Rory, another great video watched the whole 90 min and then had it playing in the background while i did the house work...not skipping any ads....more revenue for you for your next vid👍
Journey Beyond should be paying you a commission on this video . You've highlighted in every possible way what a great train journey the Ghan really is. Well done to you, you've excelled your usual informative and entertaining videos, with this gem of a production!
This is the ultimate video for someone who has booked it, or thinking of booking this and would be worthy of Journey Beyond helping Rory out on his next trip with them rather than paying a PR company. Lovely editing, might have taken quite a few hours I guess.
@Ralph Reilly - Bribery? How was Rory bribed when he paid in full his fare? Look up the meaning of the word, bribery or to bribe someone, as into doing one's own bidding that is unlawful.
I totally agree. Beyond Journey should pay your Platinum class fare. The singing waiter was very entertaining 🤣. Thank you very much. Safe travels on the rails.
As always, great train review Rory. This is definitely one of those journey that most people can only take on KZclip, so I am glad that you were the one to show me around
The dominant colours of trees and land in southern areas in Australia are a straw yellow and deep green. Further north, the green lightens to a bright shade, even becoming washed out in the tropics, and the straw colour becomes more brown and grey. I was reminded by some of the scenery in the video. Greeat and thorough video. Thank you!
Mate, this is a brilliant video! I am a born and raised Melbournian and had NO IDEA how beautiful this ride was. I always thought "Why both taking a train across the desert" but wow, that was eye opening. Thank you! Now looking at booking for mid next year.
Rory, no THANKYOU for doing this trip and not making it 20mins long, of course we watched till the end it was better than a blockbuster movie! Every detail you showed, all the information you included and the cinematic filming and editing (new camera looks like it did a fantastic job) this was definitely a highlight on your channel and a once in a lifetime experience. I am honoured to have contributed via go fund me and the enjoyment you have repayed us with is priceless. Cannot wait to share this with my Family over Easter. Thanks again you did a brilliant job👍
I totally loved this episode, you are very good at what you do. I have long wished to train travel as I did in the 70s, but I am disabled now and can't afford it. I felt like I was there with you. It was marvellous. Thank you so much. Jenny xx
The best and most detailed review of this train on YT. I thought this was very well put together and had to be long to get the feel of such a long journey and all the wonderful hightlights. You should be a food critic , Rory, as well as a travel vlogger 😁
This is a train trip I’ll likely never be able to afford so I’m really so glad you managed to cover it (And in such extensive detail)! I wasn’t able to contribute much for this trip, but if you ever decide to do overseas trips I’d love to support those as well (;
There's no doubt that it's a Platinum Class trip, but you also made this a Platinum Class presentation. I've not seen as good a video about this trip before and you've outdone yourself. Well done. My only real disappointment is for you, in that you didn't have someone with you to share this incredible experience.
Every detail collected in this magic video. I believe this was the most popular request because most can not afford such a journey and you have allow us to come with you instead. Getting there 24 hours earlier to collect that footage, brilliant. I was so excited to see the Ghan coming into the platform ...felt like a little boy again.
I love the way you present your video and really, really appreciate that you don't act silly and film yourself talking in every shot. I feel like you are taking me with you and explaining everything as though I am experiencing the same things you are- especially loved sharing the dining experience and feeling like I was there, savoring all the wonderful food. Thank you for setting up these intelligent, dignified excursions. Keep up the good work- the world will love it! I subscribed.
As always, amazing train review Rory! I really want to go on the Ghan sometime in the future and your detailed review means I now know all the amazing fetaures this train journey has to offer! Keep up the good work!
Right, I live in Darwin, and always wondered why the trip was so expensive! You have shown me it's not just a trip, it's an experience and I now look at the Ghan in a different light. Thanks for an amazing documentary showing people what the experience is like. And what this video will not show you is how amazing the outback is. You will never never know, if you never ever go....
That was a fantastic video Rory! My partner and I just crashed out on the couch and watched it, the 90 minutes flew by! Really appreciate the effort you put into these, looked like a great trip!
This is the best trip report video I have ever seen! (and I've watched a lot on KZclip) Rory you got an amazing eye for details, and superb editing skills. It felt like I was onboard the Ghan as your travel companion. Akmost could smell and taste the luxurious dishes. Thank you for creating this amazingly entertaining movie!
I absolutely loved this video and how much time and attention went into making it. I live in Australia and was watching a documentary on the Ghan tonight on television but I got far more from your video so thank you! I have subscribed to your channel and I look forward to watching more of your videos in the future.
Your photography was so well done while you traveled through the gorges on the boat that I became so engrossed I felt like I was actually there! AMAZING!
Roy, I am stunned. Firstly, the length. I thought it was only about 40 mins, but no, it's double that, and most importantly, unlike some youtube vids on travel which is long just because they show the view out of the window for an hour of the trip, every single second was an actual video. Definitely worth the wait, but still, can't believe your dedication to youtube, $7000 is a lot of money, Keep up the beyond excellent work!
@RoryDing Travels, By the way, your channel's profile picture was changed to that of the Indian Pacific a few months ago, and I mean, you spent seven times as much money on this trip, so would you change your profile pic? How about you hold a poll of the community page!
What an absolutely stunning train review. $7000 is a lot for a train trip, but for what is offered, it offers everything that you could want. A journey of a lifetime. To me, every dish looked like beyond first class, I would personally love to experience this after watching your review. To me, for what is offered, I think that I would even pay 5 digits for this trip. I watched the full 1:30hr video and can't wait for your Great Southern video. Keep this gold (or should I say platinum) content up!
I appreciate you spending the time and money to review your experience. I just couldn't imagine paying $7000 for this. I understand the trip is 3 days long. The exterior of the train resembles the old trains I see daily in my area.
That was outstanding Rory! I watched every minute of it … and the 1:30 flew by. 👍🏻. What an experience you had. Having watched your Gold Class presentation, I think you received much more in Platinum Class … that’s what I’d choose having watched both your presentations. Can’t wait for your Christmas trip to be released. Since this is really a “once in a lifetime” trip, I’d pony up the extra $$$ and do the helicopter trip. Thank you for sharing with us!
Thank you so much rob!! I’m really glad that you enjoyed my video!! I think platinum definitely added a lot more comfort at night, and you get more privacy and more personalised service.
As per usual Rory, another great review on one of Australia’s best trains. I absolutely love the length of this video for a start, as you know you would have gone into detail about the entire journey. Well done for actually doing the video and thanks to all the people who donate to make this happen.
I loved this video, thank you so much for sharing your journey. I have a disability and use a walker, I would love to do a journey like this but judging from the walkways etc. I don’t think it will be ever possible. I felt like I was on the journey with you and I thank you for your excellent commentary and your beautiful camera footage.
The gold single cabin really reminds me of a roomette sleeper on American trains. I did the Lake Shore Limited (New York to Chicago) and California zephyr (Chicago to San Francisco) in a roomette with my father and it was quite fun. The seat layout looks very similar, but the colors are a lot more lighter and not Amtrak blue and grey. The colors of the gold cabin looked more open and it looked more spacious but it is most likely the same square footage.
We just happened upon your video while surfing KZclip. You have done an outstanding job showing us all the choices available on this trip. It was never on our list, but thanks to you, we are now planning to go. We honestly had NO idea how beautiful the interior of Australia was. Well done sir! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I liked the overview of Adelaide; it adds context to the journey. And the detailed meal reviews help the viewers understand how the gourmet meals contribute to the luxury experience.
Hey Rory I'd like to thank you personally, your videos about the Journey Beyond stuff inspired my partner and I to plan our own holiday on one (when we finish saving for it lol), and it feels great to have something to look forward to in these stressful times.
It's insane that is video is the same length as a full length movie! I am only half way through but just wanted to comment on how much I am enjoying it. Extremely interesting and informative. I'll never be able to do this trip so it was great to experience it POV style. This must have taken you FORRREVVVER to edit so you deserve all the views it gets.
@RoryDing Travels Definitely worth it. I've finished it now and I'm watching your Tasmania West Coast Wilderness video which is also fantastic. Highlight for this video was definitely the Marla sunrise!
What an outstanding video: so well researched, presented, detailed and polished - great filming, capture and editing. What a wonderful insight and tribute to the Ghan.
Wow wow wow! What an amazing trip and what a great review! It was pure joy to watch. This is definitely a trip worth saving for! Well done Rory, hope you get over a million views on this. It is well deserved
First time viewer. Having watched a few Ghan videos today (after one was recommended by KZclip) I was hooked. I have to say though that this one blew me away. The attention to every detail from each mouthful of food to the decibels of the train, just fantastic. I feel like I've travelled with you. This is definitely one journey to add to my bucket/lottery win list. I can see my evening is going to be filled with watching more of your videos. A huge thank you for such a well presented and informative video.
What an incredible travel vlog. You have done a great job. I can say this was definitely a food blogger meets luxury train experience. I've so enjoyed your previous vlogs, and this was just as good if not better. Thank you so much
DEAR RORY, you did a lovely job of describing the experience and cuisine. I doubt that I could take this trip, but you sure convinced me of the joy of it. WELL DONE!!
We did The Ghan from Adelaide to Darwin in Feb 2022. We choose a Gold Superior Cabin and we loved it. The staff were excellent as was the food and service.
I love your videos and this is the best one yet. I really appreciate the reviews, They're super helpful for planning and very entertaining. You're doing an excellent job with this channel and the quality is impressive. 1 Million in sight and you most certainly deserve it!
What a wonderful review Rory - thanks so much for bringing the Platinum Class experience to us. I am glad you went with the extended length for the video so that each aspect of the journey could be given the attention it deserved. Terrific job!
Rory, after watching this you have inspired my wife and I to save up for this trip, via Platinum, as you. It'll take quite a number of years (need to save roughly $15k for train, flights to and from Sydney, and spending a few days in Darwin), but it'll be worth it for this once in a lifetime experience. Thank you for bringing it to us, and thank you to your members and GoFundMe supports for helping you make it happen.
@RoryDing Travels I'm including a few days in Darwin with that budget :) I'd probably do it in reverse to have the outdoor BBQ dinner in Alice Springs, which, AFAIK, can be part of the Alice Explorer expedition.
And thank you for your support too! 😊 It definitely is a once in a lifetime experience, i hope you could do it one day!! ☺️ also I think $10-$12k would do!
Amazing video - great work to capture the feeling of the experience. I shed a little lonely tear for you sitting at the back of the bus on your own at the end. I hope everyone was nice to you on your adventure. You're living the dream.
I have fallen in love with your channel 💯 .... This journey was absolutely bucket list material... I only pray that one day I may be able to do similar .... All the best with your future travels !
Never watched your channel before. Started watching having no intention of spending 90 mins on a 'train' video, but found myself thoroughly entertained and watched the whole thing. Really well done Thank you - I felt like travelling with you down under.
Hi Rory, Thank you for taking the time to make this, and thank you for traveling around the globe to share your experience with us all. I’m also a bit biased towards this video as an Adelaidean, love it!
I have really enjoyed all aspects of this video, from the scenery, the interior of the train, the detailed view of the platinum cabin, through to the meals. I live in New South Wales ,have just booked to go on the Ghan next year (in a platinum twin with a friend) and this video was just wonderful and very informative. Thank you
I remember when the Ghan was just a standard train that went from Alice Springs to Adelaide back in the 80’s. it was an amazing trip. My eldest daughter learned to walk on that train and there was ample room to lay a baby bassinet in between the seats on the floor. Nothing like it is today.
I had this on my watch later list & I just don't know why I didnt watch sooner!! Rory, where do I start!!? What an absolutely phenomenal video! The videography, the highly descriptive narration, along with your expert knowledge made me feel like I came along on the journey with you!! The footage of the Simpons Gap & Nitmiluk gorge cruise were highlights, especially the albeit breif tale of the Jarwan campgrounds & the families camping alongshore. The footage you took, I could imagine the tribes right there as I (you) sailed by. Truly spectacular. But the most breathtaking, heartskipping moment was by far that sunrise in Marla. It honestly took my breath away. So much so, I started to cry. Yes tears were streaming down my face, watching quite possibly the most perfect sunrise I have ever witnessed. Even if it was from a video. I take my hat off to you for what is an amazing representation of the beautiful Ghan & all our stunning red country has to offer. You have sold me & I have now officially added this trip to my bucketlist. Thank you so very much Rory.
One of the best and most comprehensive travelog experience videos I've seen; many with the funds who travel to this region will be enticed in to taking this wonderful train expedition based solely upon your powerful promotion video. It is now on my own list. Thank you!
As a lot of your viewers have said I am among the many that would never be able to afford a trip like this. I enjoyed your trip though so neat to be able to watch your journeys!
I live in rural Vic and get the Great Southern to Adelaide when it runs around Christmas. The pleb ticket isn't that much more than the bus, but it's so much nicer. I couldn't rate Journey Beyond high enough. The staff were all super friendly and helpful and made a $100 ticket seem like a $500 one.
Thoroughly enjoyed your video, the content information and highlights were a huge benefit and made it easier to decided what one should or should not do as a future traveller, please keep making such wonderful videos and safe travels
This was a great train video experience, leaving nothing out. All too often, the presenters of train trip videos focus more on the sites visited and less on the train experience. Rory Ding provides both in equal measure, and it was appreciated.
Bucket list stuff! My partner works for NSW railways, so we can get a discount on the Ghan. This really encouraged me to pull my finger out so we actually do it. Even with the discount it's still a big chunk of money, but so worth it, and if you factor in being able to take your own vehicle - it takes more of the sting out when you don't have to hire a vehicle at the other end.
Absolutely first class, your research is impeccable. I would love to do this trip one day soon. Particularly heading towards Darwin the last 800km with the tropical country.
A thoroughly enjoyable 90 minutes watching your fantastic video. Thank you. If only I could afford to travel from the UK to Australia to take the same journey!
As someone who’s thinking of doing the platinum trip on the Ghan, thank you so much for this video Rory! You were very thorough and I appreciate all the effort you put in to make this video.
Amazing and extremely well filmed and narrated. This whole video has really lifted my evening watching it with dinner after a fairly rough day. Keep up the great work mate and I hope this video really goes big and blows you up.
The Overland used run nightly between Melbourne and Adelaide, The Melbourne bound train would stop at Sunshine to let passengers get off if they were going to Sydney by the Inter daylight Capital Express.
dude so happy you got to do his, im not een half way through the video as i type and i am enjoying myself so much :) we need to get you on some of those long north america and Europe trips eventually. look forward to you continuing the great work
That was an absolutely awesome video - you are right - keep it full length and don't do the 20min version. I felt as if I was there with you. And you articulated everything so well it was as if I was eating and enjoying the food, and sharing the tours with you. That was an excellent 90min experience I had with you and look forward to checking out your other videos.... new subscriber.... thank you for spending the $7000+ and shooting this video, for I vicariously shared the experience without leaving the comfort of my own lounge
*Absolutely sensational journey* thank you for a great video Rory including your research, editing and explanations. Every stop (Marla was sensational) was special in its own right. I will look up through your videos to see where you went to after finishing with The Ghan in Darwin. 🥰 Btw, you sure did enjoy all dishes - what an appetite, if you allow me the remark 😃 Greetings from Cairns, Australia
Hello Rory, thank you for taking the time to produce a fascinating trip report for The Ghan. The longest train ride I have ever taken was when I was little more than a teenager - Vancouver-Toronto with Canadian Pacific (its route is now closed to passenger traffic) a journey which took four days and three nights. Totally different scenery of course and without the luxury and comfort of The Ghan.
@RoryDing Travels No problem Rory. My only comment would be to consider splitting a long video like this into two sections and then post these on different dates. Here in Europe there are superb rail videos produced by doc7austin and he would produce the longer ones for part A and part B. As for Canadian Rail the service today is operated by ViaRail Canada who takes a different route to that of Canadian Pacific. The latter only takes freight today rather than passengers. I took that trip in 1970 and booked a basic roomette. The fare could not have been expensive at that time. Ticket price included onboard catering which consisted of simple, hearty American food. Nothing at all "posh" !
Vancouver to Toronto sounds like a very interesting trip, I would definitely do it when I come to Cananda one day! Thank you for watching the video! ☺️☺️
Fantastic video, very concise. And that new camera really does everything justice. I used to work on the Ghan and IP over ten years ago. It's certainly stepped up a lot, especially in the differences between Platinum and Gold. Well done :)
@RoryDing Travels When I left, they only had one of those new Gold carriages in the whole rolling stock. It was the one from with the managers station at the end.
The quality and depth of your videos are outstanding! I really love the history and the details on the locomotives that you include! Keep up the great work Rory! Already looking forward to your next vidoe.
Hi Rory. Definitely worth the wait for this video !🏆 That platinum class is amazing, and the generous size of the cabins, beds, and bathrooms , makes it with the price. Sunrise in Marla, well..the word "spectacular" doesn't do it justice. Thanks for including so much information, too
Very well done Rory. This review was excellent and quite professional. I (we) want to go . Having done the Indian Pacific you have now made us want to do The Gahn. Excellent effort.
Wow, what an amazing video, really enjoyed it Rory. You should come to South Africa and experience our Blue Train or Rovos Rails. Believe me you will be stunned by our beautiful landscape
Another fantastic review Rory, the sort of experience worthy of a longer form video, even though it didn't feel long at all. The Ghan is one of those bucket list trips for me at some point in the not too distant future.
Thanks for this great review. I really wish I can ride this train one day. Also, I am with you on the idea about a fast train service between Darwin and Katherine.
Well done, love it when a YT vid like this, is made by someone who loves trains so much. You explain things well, at an understandable pace. (So many YT vids, the narration is garbled and too fast.)
A fantastic upload/documentary that was so captivating, it passed without realizing it was one and a half hrs long! what an outstanding achievement Rory.
Thanks heaps for this review! One of our friends was most likely one of your chefs during your journey, so probably cooked those delicious meals. She now drives trains full time with chef work on the side when she wants and I think working on The Ghan inspired her. Thanks once again for reviewing this trip. I have to save up and convince my partner to do it or just go on my own
Love watching your travel/train vids. I love trains, and eventually I will do a long haul trip on one 😊. Very informative and fantastic editing and you touch on aspects. Thank you👏 👌 😻.
Thank you for taking the time to make this an enjoyable video to watch. Now I feel like I have traveled on the Ghan myself without all the discomfort of climbing stairs etc. Happy for you to eat the meals in my place but your descriptions of each meal was enough to know that they were enjoyable.
I am currently binging all your video and love how great they are ❤I will probably not do any of these train trips but I feel like I’m there with your videos
20yrs ago, been on the golden single cabin by myself, remarkable experience, morning call by the butler with a cup of coffee and newspaper, dining on board was quite exceptional
Enjoyed the video and seeing what platinum class is like. We were booked on the Indian Pacific but when WA didn’t reopen their borders, managed to get a transfer to the Ghan from Darwin to Adelaide. We travelled gold class and from watching your video I think the biggest difference is the room. It would have been nice to have more space, a bigger window and a larger bed. In Gold we were allowed a second dessert so could have also had the cheese plate. For me too, the highlight of the Ghan was the amazing food.
This is a fantastic review! A trip I would love to do some day and yes, in the platinum double cabin for sure lol. My fav part of this trip was the stop at Marla. That was just amazing. I would do this trip just for that one stop!! Thank you for this wonderful video!
A great review! It’s exactly as you say! This brings back so many memories from 2018. Late husband and I got away for our first holiday without kids! One off his bucket list. It was an amazing experience, the food was absolutely delicious and honestly I wouldn’t eat this style of food normally. But I couldn’t get enough of the kangaroo dinner, had 3 of them! Just amazing time on the Mighty G as we called it! We made some fantastic friends from all over Australia and still keep in contact today!
@RoryDing Travels yes it is expensive, but the actual cost to run the service would be high also. Employees, cooks, cleaners, etc, food and drink- I’m not a drinker so I was only soft drink but you could get a bit of grog down if you wanted too and don’t forget about the 40000 litres of Diesel. It’s about the journey and history. I heard when we were on the G, there were business men using the gold single as travel from North to south return each fortnight. They preferred this to flying or driving. Each to their own. But for us it was a once in a lifetime trip which hubby loved.
Love this video! My fiancé and I are doing our honeymoon on the Ghan next year and have been excitedly watching various video blogs of other peoples experiences. Unfortunately, most travel Gold so we were excited to see this great review of Platinum Class so we could see what it’ll be like. We also enjoyed and appreciated how detailed you were with your video - definitely glad you didn’t try and cram that all in to 20mins!
A massive thank you to everyone’s kind donation on GoFundMe, I hope you have enjoyed this long video! 😊
@RoryDing Travels Any plans to go on the vintage 5 day trains that goes around nsw would love to see ?
Why do people w/a sour & cynical attitude even BOTHER to comment? Mr. Ding DOES make it seem like U R there w/him... is informative & entertaining..👍😊
What if one is Disabled
@Gasper Agacy you must be a fun person to be around.
Go Rory, another great video watched the whole 90 min and then had it playing in the background while i did the house work...not skipping any ads....more revenue for you for your next vid👍
I ❤️ "rewatching" (listening) to these fine videos when I'm trying to go back to sleep at night. I get very absorbed and relaxed.. 😴😴👍😊
Thank you so much for watching and supporting me!! Really appreciate it 😊😊
Journey Beyond should be paying you a commission on this video . You've highlighted in every possible way what a great train journey the Ghan really is. Well done to you, you've excelled your usual informative and entertaining videos, with this gem of a production!

yea i totally agree this was really well done, and felt like a top production travel tv show
@Ralph Reilly - Bribery? How was Rory bribed when he paid in full his fare? Look up the meaning of the word, bribery or to bribe someone, as into doing one's own bidding that is unlawful.
Good afternoon. I notice you use two different camera's. You said, one was a go pro. The other seems like a Sony? Correct? Excellent train videos. 😄🚆
I used to live in Alice Springs. It was certainly an interesting experience.
I agree

Thank you for watching ☺️

The reason I didn’t have someone with me is because I needed the space and freedom to do the filming 😁

Yeah that’s true!
This trip allows you to travel across country in style, but to grumpy experience the outback, gotta go on another trip yourself!
That was a fantastic video Rory! My partner and I just crashed out on the couch and watched it, the 90 minutes flew by! Really appreciate the effort you put into these, looked like a great trip!
Thank you for watching!! And glad you enjoyed the video 😊😊
Excellent sunrise shots. Good mix of train history, geography and tour options in your narration. Thank you.
This is the best trip report video I have ever seen! (and I've watched a lot on KZclip)
Rory you got an amazing eye for details, and superb editing skills. It felt like I was onboard the Ghan as your travel companion. Akmost could smell and taste the luxurious dishes. Thank you for creating this amazingly entertaining movie!

@RoryDing Travels Congrats Roy, this video passed 100K views!
😂 but I still think the Indian pacific picture is better than the picture I took on the Ghan
@RoryDing Travels, By the way, your channel's profile picture was changed to that of the Indian Pacific a few months ago, and I mean, you spent seven times as much money on this trip, so would you change your profile pic? How about you hold a poll of the community page!

Thanks so much for taking time to film all this and for all the editing. Keep up the great work!
Thank you 😃😃 Appreciate that you always watch the full length of my videos☺️ I think the price is fair, 5 digits would be too much for this trip 😬😬
I recommend you stream it to your TV if possible and get an amazing experience.
Thank you!! Hope you enjoyed the video 😁☺️
Hey Rory I'd like to thank you personally, your videos about the Journey Beyond stuff inspired my partner and I to plan our own holiday on one (when we finish saving for it lol), and it feels great to have something to look forward to in these stressful times.
Thank you!
Other than being expensive, all of their rail journeys are fantastic!! You should definitely do it one day 😊😁
It's insane that is video is the same length as a full length movie!
Thank you for the compliment ☺️☺️☺️
Glad you enjoyed the video!!! It took me 4 weeks to edit 😁 but I think it’s worth it
What an outstanding video: so well researched, presented, detailed and polished - great filming, capture and editing. What a wonderful insight and tribute to the Ghan.
Thank you for watching 😊
This has to be the benchmark review of the Ghan ..
Excellent flow of capture and narrative really good review...
Thank you!!! I’m glad you liked the video ☺️
Wow wow wow! What an amazing trip and what a great review! It was pure joy to watch. This is definitely a trip worth saving for! Well done Rory, hope you get over a million views on this. It is well deserved
Than you 😊😁
First time viewer.
Thank you Jay! Glad you enjoyed my video(s)! 😊
What an incredible travel vlog. You have done a great job. I can say this was definitely a food blogger meets luxury train experience. I've so enjoyed your previous vlogs, and this was just as good if not better. Thank you so much
Thank you for your compliment David!! Glad you enjoyed the video 😊😊😊
Thank you for your very thorough and enjoyable tour of The Ghan trip. I almost feel like I’ve done the journey. Cheers from Canada!
I love your videos and this is the best one yet. I really appreciate the reviews, They're super helpful for planning and very entertaining. You're doing an excellent job with this channel and the quality is impressive. 1 Million in sight and you most certainly deserve it!
Rory, you did very well as a food critic. The way you described the meal. Platinum seems the most comfortable. Thank you for making the videos.
What a wonderful review Rory - thanks so much for bringing the Platinum Class experience to us. I am glad you went with the extended length for the video so that each aspect of the journey could be given the attention it deserved. Terrific job!
Thank you Linda!! I’m glad you enjoyed the video ☺️☺️☺️
Rory, you videos are such high quality. Your attention to detail is amazing. Thank you for choosing to do this work.
Thank you for bringing it to us, and thank you to your members and GoFundMe supports for helping you make it happen.
bro don't save several years for a train ride that's ridiculous
15k can get you so much more if you spend it exploring the country
Save yourself a boring 3 days and go do a rail journey somewhere else...not at all worth the hype.
That sounds good 😊
@RoryDing Travels I'm including a few days in Darwin with that budget :) I'd probably do it in reverse to have the outdoor BBQ dinner in Alice Springs, which, AFAIK, can be part of the Alice Explorer expedition.
And thank you for your support too! 😊
It definitely is a once in a lifetime experience, i hope you could do it one day!! ☺️ also I think $10-$12k would do!
I enjoy your videos. It shows the whole trip. You are very informative. You don't cram everything into a 25-30 minute video.
Thank you!
I enjoyed both the Indian pacific and the Ghan! Especially the food 😋
Never watched your channel before. Started watching having no intention of spending 90 mins on a 'train' video, but found myself thoroughly entertained and watched the whole thing. Really well done Thank you - I felt like travelling with you down under.
Same here! 👍
Thank you for watching!! Glad you enjoyed the video ☺️☺️
Hi Rory,
Thank you for taking the time to make this, and thank you for traveling around the globe to share your experience with us all. I’m also a bit biased towards this video as an Adelaidean, love it!
Thank you for watching!! Glad you enjoyed it 😊😊
I have really enjoyed all aspects of this video, from the scenery, the interior of the train, the detailed view of the platinum cabin, through to the meals. I live in New South Wales ,have just booked to go on the Ghan next year (in a platinum twin with a friend) and this video was just wonderful and very informative. Thank you
A truly epic adventure, Rory, thank you so very much for this video!
Rory, this was an epic trip report and is worth watching every second. Thanks for taking us with you.
Thank you for watching 😊
I love your videos. I’m a train driver who is still yet to do this trip! Iv decided I’m definitely going to do it now! Thank you!
Thank you 😊 glad you enjoyed the video Emjay
I remember when the Ghan was just a standard train that went from Alice Springs to Adelaide back in the 80’s. it was an amazing trip. My eldest daughter learned to walk on that train and there was ample room to lay a baby bassinet in between the seats on the floor. Nothing like it is today.
This is absolutely fantastic! So happy to finally see you in Platinum and, like always, such a brilliant review.
Emma's review seems to say it all....GOOD WORK ☺️👍
Thank you for watching the whole video Emma! Glad you enjoyed it! That sunrise was absolutely stunning!
One of the best and most comprehensive travelog experience videos I've seen; many with the funds who travel to this region will be enticed in to taking this wonderful train expedition based solely upon your powerful promotion video. It is now on my own list. Thank you!
Thank you for watching 😊 glad you enjoyed the video
As a lot of your viewers have said I am among the many that would never be able to afford a trip like this. I enjoyed your trip though so neat to be able to watch your journeys!
One of the best YT travel videos, and best for the Ghan, thanks Rory! Your narration style is spot on and you look at all the things I want to see. 🤗
Thank you Andrew!! Glad you like my content ☺️☺️
This is the best video I have ever seen of the Ghan. Well done... They should have sponsored you to do this it is so good !!!
Thank you nick! I’m glad you enjoyed the video ☺️
Thank you for your compliments Etienne! Glad you enjoyed the video ☺️☺️
Thank you!
I hope you would do it one day!! Enjoy the trip! 😊
Thank you for watching Andy! Hopefully you find the video helpful 😊
This was fantastic🙂 my wife and I travelled on the Ghan, Adelaide to Darwin in 2009. The bathrooms have had a major upgrade since then.
Amazing and extremely well filmed and narrated. This whole video has really lifted my evening watching it with dinner after a fairly rough day. Keep up the great work mate and I hope this video really goes big and blows you up.
Thank you!! I’m glad you enjoyed the video 😊😊
The Overland used run nightly between Melbourne and Adelaide,
The Melbourne bound train would stop at Sunshine to let passengers get off if they were going to Sydney by the Inter daylight Capital Express.
dude so happy you got to do his, im not een half way through the video as i type and i am enjoying myself so much :)
we need to get you on some of those long north america and Europe trips eventually.
look forward to you continuing the great work
Thank you glad you enjoyed the video 😊
I’m planning to do some train trips in Europe later this year, or early next year ☺️☺️😁
That was an absolutely awesome video - you are right - keep it full length and don't do the 20min version.
🥰 Btw, you sure did enjoy all dishes - what an appetite, if you allow me the remark 😃
Greetings from Cairns, Australia
Thank you for watching 😊
I looked at the photos on the internet, I think the interior has improved so much!
The quality and depth of your videos are outstanding! I really love the history and the details on the locomotives that you include! Keep up the great work Rory!
Already looking forward to your next vidoe.
Thank you! ☺️☺️
Hi Rory.
Definitely worth the wait for this video !🏆
That platinum class is amazing, and the generous size of the cabins, beds, and bathrooms , makes it with the price.
Sunrise in Marla, well..the word "spectacular" doesn't do it justice. Thanks for including so much information, too
Thank you!! Yeah the sunrise in Marla is definitely my favourite part of the trip!!
Very well done Rory.
This review was excellent and quite professional.
I (we) want to go .
Having done the Indian Pacific you have now made us want to do The Gahn.
Excellent effort.
Thank you!! 😊
I loved both trains!
Wow, what an amazing video, really enjoyed it Rory. You should come to South Africa and experience our Blue Train or Rovos Rails. Believe me you will be stunned by our beautiful landscape
Yes I’ve heard about blue train! Would love to do it one day!! Thank you for watching the video ☺️☺️
Another fantastic review Rory, the sort of experience worthy of a longer form video, even though it didn't feel long at all. The Ghan is one of those bucket list trips for me at some point in the not too distant future.
Thank you josh! It was a wonderful journey, hope you’ll enjoy it! 😊
The Marla sunrise sequence was brilliant!
It’s been so great to see you grow your channel Rory. Congrats!!
Its such a shame they don't have a single person platinum service that doesn't require essentially buying 2 tickets for one person
Thanks for this great review. I really wish I can ride this train one day. Also, I am with you on the idea about a fast train service between Darwin and Katherine.
I am glad that I found your channel Rory. Your videos are comprehensive, informative and very well paced.
Thank you sally ☺️
Well done, love it when a YT vid like this, is made by someone who loves trains so much. You explain things well, at an understandable pace. (So many YT vids, the narration is garbled and too fast.)
A fantastic upload/documentary that was so captivating, it passed without realizing it was one and a half hrs long! what an outstanding achievement Rory.
Thank you 😊 I’m glad you enjoyed the video
Thanks heaps for this review! One of our friends was most likely one of your chefs during your journey, so probably cooked those delicious meals. She now drives trains full time with chef work on the side when she wants and I think working on The Ghan inspired her. Thanks once again for reviewing this trip. I have to save up and convince my partner to do it or just go on my own
Wow! That’s such a wonderful job and the cooking was definitely amazing! 😊
I love your detailed rail journey reviews Rory. I welcome every bit of information. Great to see Gogo again!
Thank you Ken 😊 and me too! It was great to see him on my train again
A fantastic video Rory, thank you for sharing it with us. What an amazing room/suite you had. That sunrise in Marla was something else !!
Thank you!! Indeed! The sunrise was amazing!
Thank you for the info about the gold! I think gold is comfortable enough, and the price is much cheaper! 😂
This is a fantastic review! A trip I would love to do some day and yes, in the platinum double cabin for sure lol. My fav part of this trip was the stop at Marla. That was just amazing. I would do this trip just for that one stop!! Thank you for this wonderful video!
Thank you!! 😊 Marla is definitely the best part!!!
Thank you!! I agree, although the price is a bit expensive but I couldn’t really fault anything during my journey!!
Thank you 😊 enjoy the trip next year!!!
