I took two semesters of Astronomy in college, and loved it, but I never even understood what Trigonometry was until I watched this video. Kind of mind-blowing. I wish math was taught this way in school. Thanks man, you are doing good work.
@Vitor Fanucchi I'm 46, it's kind of late for that. I took Astronomy 101 and 102, which were sort of like survey courses. I'm sure if I'd pursued it, math would have become an obstacle. Which is why I was an English major.
You always humbly say, “it’s probably because I’m a bad teacher”, but I just wanted to say I feel like you’re an amazing teacher! I always learn a lot from these videos in the most calming easily absorbable way possible.
I love these educational asmr videos. The other day I fell asleep to your video about the sun and my dream was essentially just an animation of the things you were describing and your asmr was narrating my dream. It was so cool, gotta be one of my top ten cool dreams.
For 4 nights, I've been trying to watch this video whole and I keep falling asleep 🤣 it's sooooo relaxing, but then I wake up frustrated cause I fell asleep 🤣 You killin' me mate 💜
ASMR is absolutely the best tool to learn / memorize things! Only relaxed mind is curious and absorbs facts easily! I've noticed how I learn new English words (it's not my native language) just by watching / listening ASMR videos. And that happens without any effort. Pure magic!
You may want to fact check some of the facts on this before you start absorbing them. I like this guy's videos and he makes everything sound interesting but some of those facts are off. For instance, a million seconds is only a little over 11 days, not 20 to 30 years ago. A billion seconds is actually 31.71 years. I'm sure most of what he says is true but there are a few things he isn't quite correct on. But all of the facts don't have to be correct for it to make it good ASMR and he's definitely good at that.
Pov: it's 2am, you can't sleep and you don't know yet if this video is helping because of his relaxing voice or if it's keeping you up because of the topic
Hi, just wanted to let you know I've had this video in my sleep playlist for months and I still haven't gotten tired of it, I can't imagine the time and effort you've put into this. It feels like an expensive book I should treasure.
Yes! I agree! 😄 Hmmm🤔.. I visualize him doing action film's though, lol! 😂 But, I could definitely see him doing children's stuff, his voice is so soothing, children would take to that I think! (I know I would've!) ☺️💜✨
Finally someone came up with the idea of combining asmr with the reflection of the endlessness of space. Framing ones existence in the context of the universes history is something very calming, talking out of experience.
I am speechless tbh. I have listened to alot of ASMR, but this is by far something of the most soothing stuff, I have ever come across. Perfect for either getting sleepy ( in a good way ), or while you are doing work on computer and such.
this is amazing a soft and calming voice unlike the other asmr creators just perfect and an hour in to the video started getting interested to the subject and it's just the size of us compared to the sun and the galaxy is just crazy thank you for this video :)
I think I just fell asleep listening to relaxing music. I then woke up with a better understanding of myself and the universe. I feel enlightened and I feel like I just swallowed a whole container of Altoids with water. I feel refreshed and smarter than ever. Thank you so much.
I love all your videos, Rich! It’s always a treat when you upload a new video! I always gravitate back to this one, and lately it’s tied with your JWST video. Such detail and in depth analysis! Can’t praise enough !! 🙌🏻
This is the kind of conversation I want to have while I’m awake. Yet it’s also the most relaxing one to fall asleep to. Guess I’ll have to watch it twice lol.
I fell asleep to a college ASMR channel and woke up to this…. Knowingly Started at minute 1:32 currently at 34:27. 🤣 You have a soothing and relaxing voice sir ✊🏽
My head gets super tingly when you say "peppercorn" 😂👌 Actually, that entire part where you're talking about, spilling out, and using the peppercorns as planets is extra tingle-provoking for me 😂
Grasping to understand and feel space in both size and time, truly a humbling effort. Maybe us humans did get a little too comfortable/involved in the social environment we evolved in to remember the awe you're describing. Thank you for sharing.
Omg I’m so tired because of the calming voice but it’s so interesting and it’s being taught so well I’m so invested. My brain doesn’t know what to do rn sleep or learn lmao
This was the best ASMR I have ever heard. I felt like I was learning something new as I was sleeping. Love the background music it was so soothing. Thank you so much for this, I really appreciate it. I'm definitely subscribing.❣❣
I love space, everything about the universe and planets and our solar system, I always wanted to be an astronaut when I was younger until I started developing several immune system diseases. This video comforts my inner child that still hopes I might go to space one day, thank you for such an amazing, informative, and relaxing video!!!
I somehow ended up falling asleep with my headphones on and all of a sudden, this video starts playing. An hour into the video, I wake up and ask myself what is going on, who is speaking and what is he actually saying. I end up falling asleep again since I was exhausted. I wake up half an hour later and realise what I was listening to the whole time. Love the effort you put in and thank you for relaxing me after an exhausting and stressful day.
I’ve been studying doing research in astrophysics for years now and this video was still beautiful to watch. The biggest thing in this field is that people may know all the math and complex physics, but being able to conceptualize and imagine what’s happening is a whole different game - and in later years is a concept that is completely lost by many. I can honestly say this helped how I visualize some basic concepts and I really liked how you were able to blow my mind still with the thought about how much kight is really emitted by a star by the fact a certain amount escapes and that’s what we see of other galaxies. So many videos just try to blow your mind with the same flashy concepts of physical scale, time, black holes (which are all impressive and still hold new surprises, but are just scratching the surface of the immensity of nature). So this was a really nice insight into some of the simple, but more subtle beauties of nature. Great job and I hope to see more astronomy astr vids like this!
thanks ethan that means alot. i always feel like mainstream shows don't give the audience enough credit to explain topics with more math and logic. they always spoon feed it and i aim to inspire viewers to look at these common topics with a deeper eye in the way Feynman does in his explanations. so thanks again. it's an honor to get feedback like that from a far more knowledgable person in the field than myself.
I was exhausted because im suffering insomnia specially these two weeks and i just liked the title so i played the video and at the first minute i FADE TO SLEEP and it was so good... Thanks i needed sleep
I appreciate these videos so much. I get bad migraines that can keep me in bed all day and I won’t be able to keep my eyes open or look at lights. But I also get bored just laying in a dark room in pain for hours. Your videos have been so perfect. They keep me distracted and interested and help me sleep. You’re my go to migraine nurse lol
You give me goosebumps. Never question your ability. You describe the vast, mathematical awe of the universe with passion bro. That’s better than any public school teacher I ever had.
I feel bad for considering this, because this video is SUPER well made and you deserve all the praise that is rightfully due from this creation. That being said: I LOATHE how the video 8 seconds short of being 3:33:33 It could've been perfect...
These concepts are my absolute favorite! This reminds me of having late night, existential thoughts and conversations with my friends. Thank you so much for being able to capture that feeling
It is irrefutable that you deserve more subscribers! Not only to you provide something that can never be taken away, you teach it in such a relaxing matter. Unfortunately Einstein was incorrect about everything in space. Hopefully once we understand ourselves, we will be capable of much more.
What a beauty!! I can't describe how much I've enjoyed watching this video. Apart from so much information that it gives u, it’s relaxing, it’s informative, the music is good. One of the best things I've found on KZclip. 😮💨
I fell asleep, watching ASMR videos and came across this one. When I tell you, I had that strangest weirdest, most astonishing dream I ever had. It was beautiful
I just discovered your channel, I'm a law student who lives alone and away from my family. Sometimes it can be lonely, so thank you so much for being the smart voice that's going to be through this finals season with me! Hope I'll pass my Master degree with you in my background while I'm studying, you're amazing :)
@B yo u doing that is lit and take it from me as a *kid* who's *finally* 2 years in college, learning stuff earlier is always very worth it! Snowball your advantage :) you can be as smart and knowledgeable as you set out to be, if you have the time and enjoy it
I needed something to sleep to (I may have a case of insomnia). This knocked me out - your voice is so relaxing. And the music and sound from the pencil topped it off 🙏🏼
Thanks!

I put my headphones in before bed, had some ear cleaning asmr going.... Woke up at 3am to this guy explaining the universe. I'm not mad about it.

3 hours of a masterpiece. If you fall asleep, It worked and if you didn’t, it also worked. Well done. Really great job
thanks mt
The amount of space between objects in the Universe is... vastly underrated.
Now that I've heard of how small we really are in the universe, I can imagine how an atom must feel when trying to understand how big a human is.
Maybe we are part of something bigger we can’t perceive (for now)
We are celestrials to atoms
Imagine a quark though 💀 particles be the multiverses for them
@Latest Mush they the one that built it
The fact that everyone got a Heart ❤️ and you didn’t
You always humbly say, “it’s probably because I’m a bad teacher”, but I just wanted to say I feel like you’re an amazing teacher! I always learn a lot from these videos in the most calming easily absorbable way possible.
Wow, thanks azura
did "we are the universe trying to understand itself" blow anyone else's mind or is it just me... that is the most amazing and beautiful concept ever
Would the universe exist if there weren't anyone to experience it?
not for us

Cant imagine how laborious this video cut was. Your voice is also very relaxing. Good job!
thanks for noticing. i spent a while lolol

i really appreciate that thanks
I always love how deep and crisp some peoples voices are.
Your voice is so soothing. And the video editing is next level
I've watched this video so many times in the last year and it is still so relaxing and all the science is still so interesting
This channel is insanely underrated!! This guy could narrate documentaries!
...and all the watchers would stay uneducated because of falling asleep just after beginning...
Yes! I agree! 😄
Hmmm🤔.. I visualize him doing action film's though, lol! 😂
But, I could definitely see him doing children's stuff, his voice is so soothing, children would take to that I think! (I know I would've!) ☺️💜✨

Omg you are a wonderful teacher, and your page is lovely to listen to, to relax. Thank you!
I am just here to say: I love your content Rich! And i am really fascinated by the reason you made this channel :) Thank you!
I appreciate that Sol. thanks for the love
Why isn’t your content a Netflix series?
Because no one take asmr serious except for us who enjoy it :/
Because it's factual 😏
@ThatHappyOldMan You're so right.
@Jamie Pritchard 😂
Because the Netflix talent scouts fell asleep before they had the time to book it.
I find these ASMR videos really relaxing
Such a good asmr ❤️
I love all your videos, Rich! It’s always a treat when you upload a new video! I always gravitate back to this one, and lately it’s tied with your JWST video. Such detail and in depth analysis! Can’t praise enough !! 🙌🏻

Anyone else just want to learn all there is to know about the universe while tryna fall asleep at 2 in the morning.
These are the topics and questions I live for. This video was beautifully done.

@briete bank boyyyy better get out of here with that bull.
@briete bank Watch Professor Dave's treatment of the topic, then come back here with your rebuttal. I'd love to see you address it

Among one of the best videos I have ever seen. Really best asmr. Best details. Best efforts. Loved it.
I can't fall asleep to this because it's too interesting 🤣🤣🤣 very very relaxing for me though. Highly recommend
Where did he go. I miss these explaining videos. Not just for ASMR but for education. Great stuff.
Not only did this absolutely put my mind in a trance it taught me math I don’t even need to know for another 4 years
I needed something to sleep to (I may have a case of insomnia). This knocked me out - your voice is so relaxing. And the music and sound from the pencil topped it off 🙏🏼
