@aircraftnut15 cause the German sounds the same LOL. I couldn't place what movie I was thinking of when I watched this till I saw your comment. Thanks
The Paratrooper with the umbrella is like all the other characters of *A Bridge To Far* based off of a real paratrooper I forget his name, but he really did carry an umbrella with him into combat. The reason he did is quite funny, he was terrible at remembering the codes they used and got so tired of trying to remember them he gave up doing so. Instead he started carrying an umbrella and when asked why he did it his response was (and I’m trying to remember this correctly) “Because anyone carrying an umbrella on to the battlefield can’t be mistaken for anyone who isn’t British.”
I should like to add that Major Digby Tatham-Warter was also a deeply honourable man. For instance, he is responsible for making sure one of his KIA fellow soldiers received a Victoria Cross (highest recognition for bravery and gallantry in the British forces). While he enjoyed his blood sports, like tiger hunting and boar sticking, this did not make him stand out among his peers at the time. What did make him stand out was that even though he raised a police force at his own expense during the 1946 Mau Mau Uprising (and fought the Kenyan Kikuyu independence fighters on several occasions) he outspokenly supported racial reconciliation and believed Africans had the right to self-government. After Kenyan independence he would devote much of his time to the development of the community around his two estates in Kenya and was quite the concern for British Intelligence because of it. Frankly speaking this was entirely extraordinary for the time. And by the way, about that hunting hobby? He would be instrumental in developing the modern concept of safari which is recognisable to us in the current day, where we rather prefer to photograph animals rather than shoot them. The thought cannot escape me that he had enough of the killing. A truly great, albeit deeply eccentric individual!
Apparently he took out a German armoured car by jamming the umbrella into the view slot and poked the driver in the eye. Quite a few stories about him.
The officer with the umbrella is Major Digby Tatham-Warter (or at least based on him). After being captured at Arnhem he escaped from the POW hospital and with the help of the Dutch resistance made it back to Britain with 150 other British soldiers.
@Light Up Do you live there? Have you checked with the people who do? You obviously don’t understand much so I’ll skip the essay explaining the US’s position in the area.
@Schylar Velez Vietnam was lost because the U.S. is ill-equipped to deal with guerrilla warfare. Same reason the U.S. lost in Iraq and Afghanistan. Too clunky to be agile enough to fend off IEDs, suicide bombers, ambushes, etc.
You know you have balls when you're a soldier holding an umbrella and you flip that surrender request on the enemy like "no no no we can't take YOU prisoner lol"
Now i got it,i thought the germans wanted to surrender when in reality he was proposing to the british to surrender and then the british turned it around,so that's the joke but why does the german guy wave a white flag,isn't a white flag a sign of surrender?
Major Tatham-Digby is such a legend. After WW2 he was assigned in Palestine/Israel. When a convoy of Israeli militia where caught in an Ambush by Palestine militias. He, as a UN peacekeeper, drove into the gunfighter. Got off his vehicle without a weapon, just holding a small walking stick, casually walked into the firefight, waving his hands and smiling to both sides. He talked to the Israeli officer if he would need any assistance. The Israeli officer refused any help. Tathem-Digby then casually walk away waving and smiling again, much to the bafflement of the two sides fighting. He said to his assistant "I'm sure they won't shoot a person waving and smiling."😂
@Mike Watkinson I've seen this movie thrice. I thought you were talking about the German soldier is holding a white flag. This is THE most historically accurate ww2 film.
@SSGSS Xtrada why would you have said that? It was the Germans asking the Brits to surrender. The Brits position was untenable. The whole operation went very badly.
Who knew the military had such great diplomacy skills? Polite, Reasonable, gentlemanly but still clear and to the point. After this i bet they fired their artillery with class and respect.
Fun Fact: Apparently, it was originally Anthony Hopkins who said “We haven’t the proper facilities to take you all prisoner.” But the real life man who he was portraying, John Frost, objected fear that people would think he was just trying to big himself up. He was then asked “Would you mind being present when the line was said?” And that was alright
Whoever that kid actor was, he deserved at least an honorary Academy Award nomination for 'Best Supporting Actor'. His facial expressions were perfect.
@Occam's Razor Specifically an offer of surrender that tried to appeal to american morality "You see, if you continue this senseless fighting, the people in this region will suffer under the yoke of destruction and turmoil, surely you would wish to cede this conflict on their behalf and be the better men you claim to be?" 'Nuts!'
Truth is stranger than fiction. The real Major Tatham-Digby would walk around wearing a Bowler hat and an Umbrella while under enemy fire. He saw the brigade's Chaplain unable to cross the street because of heavy fire. He walked over, opened the Umbrella and escorted the chaplain "Don't worry Padre. I have an umbrella." When the real Col. Frost (played by Anthony Hopkins) saw the movie, he said that Hopkins did it wrong when he played Frost running and crouching when evading enemy fire on the street. Even under heavy fire "We don't run around like that. We would purposely walk casually and ignore the Germans shooting. It's our way to show our contempt to them."
The look of terrified confusion on the boy soldier's face is classic. "Are these guys serious? Are they going to shoot me? Will my general shoot me? WHAT DO I DO!!??"
@MrMoorkey "I'm not your bro... bro" apparently I am now, bro. Also, even if this actually happened, this is a clip of a movie, the guy didn't actually thought he would get shot.
Actually the Germans were winning this battle and they got the brits sorrounded and were willing to let them walk. that was made it an unbelievable moment
@Saurio Is that you James? John? If you are neither, I'm not your bro...bro. Also...just a movie. You don't say? Couldn't possibly be based on true accounts of men who were there...right?
My Grandad was in this mission and was captured by the Germans. The best of it was that he was an officers driver and was told that he didn't have to go but he went anyway. Different breed. Never forget. ✌️😎
@BucketzNo, the British paras holding the bridge were eventually overrun and captured. Insanely brave men who held out as long as they possible could.
Ah, the movie "A Bridge Too Far". Based on the book of the same name by Cornilius Ryan. I actually watched this movie in the theater in 1977 (give or take a year). Ryan also wrote "The Longest day" which was turned into the 1965 movie of the same name.
@scottydu81 The germans wanted to negotiate the surrender of the allied soldiers, he was carrying the white flag so he wouldn't get shot as he approached. It wasn't the germans who wanted to surrender.
@Kimberly it’s a scene from the movie A Bridge too Far which portrays the full events of Operation Market Garden quite historically. This scene itself is an actual close to depiction of what a British major said to the German officer sent to ask for the surrender of the Company of men set up at Arnhem bridge - more were trying to get there, but sadly failing. As such, being the good old lads we are, we told said officer that his offer was refused and that we’d be sticking it out a few more days - tho better said (and more historically accurately said) by the movie
@Namikaze Minato No, they were invaded by the Germans in 405 CE who in turn were being pushed out by the Allemans. Which is why the French word for Germany is not Germany but Allemagne. Whereas the British were invaded by the normans and then by the French/Germanic descendants of the Vikings, so they still call it Germany and so do the Americans. Meanwhile The Netherlands and Belgium are part of the region where the language derives from Diets, so they call it Duitsland, which is what the Germans do as well (Deutschland). Funny how it all works, no?
@Richie Valdez the German was offering to allow the British to surrender. They rebuffed by pretending the Germans were asking to surrender. Surrounded, outnumbered, and if I remember correctly, utterly wiped out.
@Radziwill i mean probably i'm wrong, but the wehrmacht had the eagle on their chest, not on their arm, the SS had the eagle on their arm, but i guess this is some random SS soldier, but i also don't see the SS runes on his collar
@ken You can watch Battle of the Bulge 1965 w/Henry Fonda and Robert Ryan. "Nuts" BG Anthony C. McAuliffe reply to German commander. Also, I recommend reading books because it goes more Indepth.
He says "Flatten Arnheim." He was commanding two tank divisions, which wasn't expected. The British were undermanned and light infantry and were only expected to hold the bridge for two days. Despite not being able to mass their whole division (spread out all over the countryside only some of them reached this spot) they still held their position for over a week, until they literally ran out of ammo and food. 10000 parachuted in and around the city, only 2000 made it out.
@sl1pers Please, all those who don’t understand satire, stop with the berating comments. I don’t approve of shooting in the back. I don’t even approve of shooting in the front!
@Looking4theRealRepairmanJack Courtney I think you are proving my point. If someone in uniform is shooting at you then of course they are a legitimate target. Cough "Hacksaw Ridge" cough...
My grandfather was in a similar situation after his unit was cut off and surrounded for 3 days. They had no food and had run out of ammo. They were fighting with bayonets and whatever weapons they could scavenge from the enemy. They had suffered >50% casualties and had no officers left. The Germans sent some guys in to parlay and the most senior NCO left (possibly my grandfather) told them, "If you want us, come and get us". The unit fought on until a relief force broke through and forced the Germans to retreat.
The film was made from the book. When Ryan wrote it, most of those who were there were still alive and were interviewed at length. That's British, American, Polish, German, Dutch, everyone. Plenty of photos in the book, too. The dialogue quoted in the book was used in the film so it's all accurate. Also, actors in the film were chosen who looked like the people they were portraying. So it's all spot on.
@Drew Paupanekis Yes, but "300" is based off a comic book and not pretending to be an actual depiction of the battle of Thermopylae. The details of the Battle of Arnhem and Operation Market Garden however, you can find in after action reports and eye witness accounts. The author of the book did.
@Tman if I recall, he believed it didn't properly represent some of the horrors that occurred. Though, I can understand why, given that some things should not be on the big screen.
Great reply really, so much better than what his commander wanted him to say. I liked the reply to a surrender offer from the Japanese to a captain of a river boat in 1940 as well, great men back then they dont make them like that anymore
@Attack Pattern Delta I legitimately use that to insult people usually trash talkers on Xbox it’s just funny and kinda meaningless yet still somehow insulting and it’s from such a great film too XD
Bloody Sunday and the other troubles things I knew about (though we humans should know by now that throwing things at men with guns never end well), but I’ve found nothing in Mount Longdon. It was a hard fight, but nothing there about abuse of prisoners. In fact, I have read that the Argies were treated better as prisoners than they were in their own army.
I actually said this in a training exercise in the Army once. We were seriously outnumbered and the OPFOR wanted to play POWs with us. I told them exactly this. My people were high-fiving each other when they heard me yell this out and we managed to break out of their encirclement. In the after action review, my answer came up and someone asked where I got that idea. The Batt CO said, "Haven't any of you seen 'A Bridge Too Far, other than this LT???"
This play's like a Monty Python skit 🤣
My dog has no nose.
i actually thought it was at first hahaha
😅😅😅😅😅
I was thinking the same thing
Life does.
“Was there anything else?”
“Well, since you asked, we’re seeking the holy grail!”
“ Ve are looking for a zertan Herr Jones he haz stolen somezing quite valuable from us”

@TheKaz911if it where not for the western allies lend lease, Stalin would not have been ble to get into the fight, so no
This clarification made the scene even funnier. Thank you
@James 247 the French did
This portrays the kindness of the all powerful Waffen SS !😊
The actor playing the German soldier’s surprised look is priceless.
"Wait, I spoke English correctly, right?"
@Ahmed Amine Kebdani this scene is a joke, he is Asking them to surrender
He instantly lost all hope n plans for his future life he has portrayed untill he heard the reply..... And an imminent death clocked em....
@Ahmed Amine Kebdani I regard his stiffness as more of a british feature, hence he probably is a british actor
The "Was there anything else" is the kind of customer service we deserve
We, you say? You mean you're a Wehrmacht soldier?
“Go away or we shall taunt you a second time”
You just copied another comment smh
“He's already got one.” “Are you sure he's got one?” “Oh yes it's very nice.” 😂😂😂
@aircraftnut15 cause the German sounds the same LOL. I couldn't place what movie I was thinking of when I watched this till I saw your comment. Thanks
Are you suggesting coconuts migrate?
Imagine being that German soldier reporting back
Or imagine just being German
We don't have to imagine it they show the soldier returning to the general and the general is asked so what now and the general says flatten Arnhem.
@Yeng Das ist nicht güt
不到啊
Gott in himmel!?! 😮
My school geography teacher was one of the British survivors of this event.
He drank tea from a thermos in most lessons.
@Angry Ted China outnumbers every western nation combined and they don't drink coffee.
@Paul Jefferies No. Tea.
Says, you. Alcohol?
@Whoami691 Nothing to do with America. Coffee is more popular in UK too. Actually coffee is more popular globally.
@Angry Tedmost popular actually.
You think more Chinese people drink coffee?
America isn't the world. 😊

@Max Schaffels eccentric is pretty much a standard British characteristic
I should like to add that Major Digby Tatham-Warter was also a deeply honourable man. For instance, he is responsible for making sure one of his KIA fellow soldiers received a Victoria Cross (highest recognition for bravery and gallantry in the British forces).

@Matthew Patrone for sure, that's what I would say...
You're about to be annihilated and claiming you don't have the "proper facilities to take prisoners"🤣😂🤣. This scene was gold
@Running Sparrow “based on”
It's also based on a true event and exchange
You know you have balls when you're a soldier holding an umbrella and you flip that surrender request on the enemy like "no no no we can't take YOU prisoner lol"
Now i got it,i thought the germans wanted to surrender when in reality he was proposing to the british to surrender and then the british turned it around,so that's the joke but why does the german guy wave a white flag,isn't a white flag a sign of surrender?
Lol you declined a surrender while holding an umbrella instead of a rifle

@Mike Watkinson I've seen this movie thrice. I thought you were talking about the German soldier is holding a white flag. This is THE most historically accurate ww2 film.
the politeness to add on “Sorry” and “Was there anything else” 😂😂
@SniffyJoe Others have french of course, but see what you're pointing out.
@The Magnus and wont be in the 3rd hopefully aha
@extremely.hung.individual Canadians and Americans hv British heritage... hshaha... anyways still King's Country.
Cheeky in true English fashion
Leave always a way for retreat to the enemy, otherwise they fight like cornered animals - Sun Tzu
You just have to love British people. Even on a battlefield where death is everywhere. They will always hold the line of etiquette and manners.
In a movie maybe.
"...Well. Can you accept my personal surrender then? ...Your facilities sure will be enough for one person?!"
@SSGSS Xtrada why would you have said that? It was the Germans asking the Brits to surrender. The Brits position was untenable. The whole operation went very badly.
But then he would have surrendered to the losing side?
@LAN_Daddy TTV மிக்க நன்றி ஐயா உங்களுக்கு
@Rosee Rosee a bridge too far
The actor playing the German does a great job expressing his feelings with no words
"I'm sure it's a very nice surrender, but we cannot accept it"
Lol!
“Was there anything else”??? In such a caring I hope you’re ok sorta way
British politeness at its deadliest.
@Jayden Van Canne yeah, that. I remember that from when I was a kid living there.
It's a very un-caring thing to say. It felt very British to me.
Was there anything else is British for go away if you have nothing else to offer to the conversation
I like that little side glance the German gives 😂
Who knew the military had such great diplomacy skills? Polite, Reasonable, gentlemanly but still clear and to the point. After this i bet they fired their artillery with class and respect.

"big himself up"... A good indicator of how the language has deteriorated since those days. Innit? :P :)
“Go away or I shall taunt you a second time!” 😂
This sounds like a really quotable movie I must see this
“RUN AWAY”!!!!!
"I WARNED YOU but did you listen? OH no it's just a wee little rabbit" "OH shut it! CHARGE!"
@Mike Jonesif carried by an African swallow.
@Mike Jones they must be carried
Whoever that kid actor was, he deserved at least an honorary Academy Award nomination for 'Best Supporting Actor'.
His facial expressions were perfect.
When movies were movies
"Was there anything else?"
Yeah I'd also walk away speechless. Can't blame him
@Krelbecause it kind lf sounds like what a villain would say😂
@KrelWas this the real, historic request by the Germans?
@Occam's Razor Specifically an offer of surrender that tried to appeal to american morality
"You see, if you continue this senseless fighting, the people in this region will suffer under the yoke of destruction and turmoil, surely you would wish to cede this conflict on their behalf and be the better men you claim to be?"
'Nuts!'
You should look up the American response to an offer for surrender during the Battle of the Bulge: "Nuts!"
,, ,, I, DO, THINK, THE, "HUN," !!, WAS, A, BIT, - "BRAVE," !!,
Truth is stranger than fiction. I have an umbrella."
When the real Col.
Just saw this movie the other day. “A bridge too far”. An all star cast.
This Movie is a Masterpiece, yes this scene is funny, but it's also dramatic when you think about.
It's only funny when it's out of context and seems as if it's the Germans surrendering to the allies, but being refused.
@Dwink Bexin Major Digby Tatham-Warter said it. He also actually carried an umbrella.
@Richard Roberts The guy who said it was Major Digby Tatham-Warter.
@Med Smith Exact opposite. He is perplexed that the surrounded Brits with little food, water and ammo and with tons of casualties won’t surrender.
@The j They were asking the Brits to surrender. Read up on Operation Market Garden and you’ll understand why.
In real life, it wasn’t a German requesting their surrender it was a captured British Sgt that the Germans sent over.
@Erkel's Broer He probably knew that if he escaped, the germans would retaliate on other POWs. (or it was an honor thing)
Why wouldn't he flee to the allied side whenever close to their position?
"Was there anything else?"
"Yes.. i would like to speak to your manager"🤣🤣
The look of terrified confusion on the boy soldier's face is classic.
"Are these guys serious? Are they going to shoot me? Will my general shoot me? WHAT DO I DO!!??"
I thought it was a woman
his general just said: "crush Arnhem."
@MrMoorkey "I'm not your bro... bro" apparently I am now, bro. Also, even if this actually happened, this is a clip of a movie, the guy didn't actually thought he would get shot.

Germany: surrender
French: oh yeah of course
Germany: surrender
British: we like to but don't have the proper facilities
He's like "wait, CAN I speak English? That's not what I meant was it?"
@BucketzNo, the British paras holding the bridge were eventually overrun and captured.
Insanely brave men who held out as long as they possible could.
Epic comment!! You win the internet today
That speak English all of the universe, right ? Marvel ?
@Bob Zul The Allied forces. Did not think somebody would need that spelled out hahaha. It is referring to USA, UK, Canada, Russia etc.
@Bucketz allies? Who's allies?
Ah, the movie "A Bridge Too Far". Based on the book of the same name by Cornilius Ryan. I actually watched this movie in the theater in 1977 (give or take a year). Ryan also wrote "The Longest day" which was turned into the 1965 movie of the same name.
thankss
the facial expression of the german soldier after the british reply is 10/10
“Could I perhaps join your side, then?”
@snakedogman
.
Why would he joins the losing team, i mean they won in the end but not this particular battle.
@scottydu81 Movie is A Bridge Too Far, about the huge failed Operation Market Garden. Scene is at the Battle of Arnhem.
@scottydu81 The germans wanted to negotiate the surrender of the allied soldiers, he was carrying the white flag so he wouldn't get shot as he approached. It wasn't the germans who wanted to surrender.
@snakedogman Frankly I dont even know what movie film this is much less which battle lol
Best British reply ever. Love this film
That feeling of pride when you know what event is being talked about
@Kimberly it’s a scene from the movie A Bridge too Far which portrays the full events of Operation Market Garden quite historically.
I’m jealous. What is this scene?
I like how the German soldier basically said, “ok then”
@Namikaze Minato No, they were invaded by the Germans in 405 CE who in turn were being pushed out by the Allemans.
@Giin Wow, that makes sense now that I watch the video again. I haven’t seen the movie 😆
@Radziwill no the surrender monkeys surrendered to the Germans they didn't join the SS
The Americans did something close to this in 1944 at the Battle of the Bulge. The American reply to surrender was "Nuts."
"We're willing to offer a surrender."
"Nuts. Testicles, perhaps... Balls, even!"
It was because there was a massacre of American soldiers by the SS and in retaliation SS units weren’t given surrenders
@ken You can watch Battle of the Bulge 1965 w/Henry Fonda and Robert Ryan. "Nuts" BG Anthony C. McAuliffe reply to German commander. Also, I recommend reading books because it goes more Indepth.
@ken it’s featured in Band of Brothers.
Is there a movie with this based?
Aah, "a bridge too far" what à great movie
"Your mother was a hamster, and your father smelled of elderberries"
,, Father's breath smelt of dingleberries.
I think the hamster had it worse..
@ElBias, it's from a 47 year old Monty Python film....
😆😆
@Jacqui Wilson Nah, i remember this from EU4 but i think there’s a even more older reference I just don’t know
The reaction of the german soldier really deserves the oscar
No
This British soldier might be the most innocent soldier in the entire history of warfare
I literally thought this was Monty python for a brief second
We've already got one!
Ni!
and now for something completely different
The British guy holding an umbrella for a gun
Are you saying it isn't?
As people we must realize that this is no movie or game. This is reality. And it may be coming to a place near you someday.
The most British thing about this is that he's in the middle of the battlefield armed with an umbrella.
"We haven't the proper facilities to take you all prisoner, sorry!"
The Germans response gets me every time.
"What?" 😄😆🤣🤣
@Wayne Fiddler he wasnt the one surrendering
@Wayne Fiddler The Germans offered the surrender
@Daniel Smith they don't, but at least we know the difference between an American "tomato" and a British "tomato"
@Keptaro How do the schools teach situational context in English?
@Anthony Blamthany Why not? It's called education.
" was there anything else?" " Yes. have you got any teabags? We're all out"
Lol 😅
Excellent camera operators, camera stability, and coordination with the directors.
"Is there someone else we can talk to?"
Now "that" would make it a Monty Python skit for sure.😂
😂😂😂
That was kind if stupidish line for sure 😆😆😆😆😆😆
Goat.
“I want to speak to your commanding officer’s commanding officer”
The greatest WWII movie. Well over 3 hours I believe.
I wish we could see the General's reaction.
He says "Flatten Arnheim." He was commanding two tank divisions, which wasn't expected. The British were undermanned and light infantry and were only expected to hold the bridge for two days. Love it when soldiers that know they're doomed make a bit of pithy gallows humor like that.
Me at every job interview and family reunion be like:
“Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries!”
I thought elderberries is a variant of dingleberries.
I told them we already got one!
@End Game idk 🤷♂️ I think it’s funny
KZclip asked me if this was a good comment and for what reason
@Tres Hampton A Bridge Too Far
That corporal or whatever the rank he is.
He deserve a raise for writing this comedy to history.
What kills me is when the surrender guy turns around and walks away like he just got told to go to timeout😏
“I say, you’re not going to shoot me in the back as I turn and walk away, are you?”
“We may just do that! Was there anything else?” 😂
Nah, the British officers were gentlemen.
🤔
@sl1pers Please, all those who don’t understand satire, stop with the berating comments. I don’t approve of shooting in the back. I don’t even approve of shooting in the front!
"What??"
@Looking4theRealRepairmanJack Courtney I think you are proving my point. If someone in uniform is shooting at you then of course they are a legitimate target. Cough "Hacksaw Ridge" cough...
Now I want to see that movie so bad...
@His Everest Yes. And so is the other 90%.
The movie and book are both called “A Bridge Too Far” and the film is on KZclip. Its three hours long.
@Tman if I recall, he believed it didn't properly represent some of the horrors that occurred. Though, I can understand why, given that some things should not be on the big screen.
@Kurgen96 VODs Why was he disgusted?
The look of utter dismay on the German chap’s face is an absolute peach.
The awkward walk back is the best part. My guy was flabbergasted
This scene is amazing. British humor at its finest.
@Tanmoy Debbarma Actually the Spanish & French treated their colonies the worse.
@DCmastermind First Resistance is futile, bro. Your language has been assimilated.
Don't you mean, "humour"... hehe.
perhaps the most awkward moment of that german soldier
"Was there anything else?!"
Its like a slap in the face.
@ClhCgu45 Brilliant...
@Occam's Razor you was.
@Occam's Razor Don't even sweat it. 👍
@Pete Smith Ah, k. Thanks.
I know you didn't ask, but I have Asperger's (which is probably obvious now)
@Occam's Razor I was only kidding. Just continuing in the essence of previous responses. You're good. 😁
When you get a translator on Wish.
"Yes, we meant YOUR surrender. Enjoy the artillery shells."
"We'd like to be taken prisoner"
'We've already got one. Now go away '
the germans where asking them to surrender
Old days of RVB, lol.
Or I shall taunt you a second time!
Already got one to many German anyways
Clocks colt 1911*
Ha ha
Great reply really, so much better than what his commander wanted him to say. I liked the reply to a surrender offer from the Japanese to a captain of a river boat in 1940 as well, great men back then they dont make them like that anymore
Us typical Brits being polite “ sorry ……was their anything else ?” 😂😂
"Was there anything else?" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@RAW TOPSHOT trotzdm danke dir
@RAW TOPSHOT
nein ich habe kein worte zu sagen
@Mdi 11
"A BRIDGE TOO FAR"
Do you have vision issues? 🤔
the movie name please
Now that is what makes a man English, no passport in the world will give you that Inner nerve and cheek.
The allied forces were actually the underdogs in this scene. The germans were offering a surrender for them. Reverse psychology. Haha
"I'll ask him, but I don't think he'll be very keen. You see, we've already got one!"
"I told them we already got one" 😆
@Attack Pattern Delta That’s my sig line on one of the forums I’m on.
@Attack Pattern Delta I legitimately use that to insult people usually trash talkers on Xbox it’s just funny and kinda meaningless yet still somehow insulting and it’s from such a great film too XD
I’m French, why do you think I have this outrageous accent you silly king
Jolly good. Brilliant.
@Attack Pattern Delta "I wave my private parts at your aunties!"
Imagine declining a chance for surrender while holding an umbrella like a rifle. That soldier was flabbergasted.
Pretty sure this is based on a real exchange which just makes it so much better.
British Airborne trolling was on another level
@FaithRox I love chips
@Konstantinos Nikolakakis Peaceful civil rights march = throwing things at men with guns. Got it.
And you clearly didn't search hard enough.
@Hard-workingPleb now thats a team effort
Probably one of the greatest "No U!" ever
That was one of the weirdest negotiations I've ever seen
I actually said this in a training exercise in the Army once. We were seriously outnumbered and the OPFOR wanted to play POWs with us. I told them exactly this. My people were high-fiving each other when they heard me yell this out and we managed to break out of their encirclement. In the after action review, my answer came up and someone asked where I got that idea. The Batt CO said, "Haven't any of you seen 'A Bridge Too Far, other than this LT???"
JRTC?
In Arma?
@William DiazWe've got them _exactly_ where we want them, sir.
Yes i remember then we all wake up and it was a dream the end
Cap
"we surrender!"
"no"
"ok"
Thomas Tuchel looked gutted about the Allies decision to decline the offer to surrender! 😂
“Sorry! We’ve already GOT a grail!”
@Juni Bug GO away b4 I taunt you a 2nd timea.
He says he's already gone one...
"We've already got one!"
"Well...can we see it?"
The best part of this is that this actually happened.
the little "sorry" gets me everytime.
"Well if you won't accept our surrender could we all just sit down for tea"?
the germans totaly outnumbered the allys in that battle
-
the germans where asking them to surrender
@SunlightGwyn replace Tea with Sake and yeah it's pretty on point.
Captain Kyoraku in a nutshell.
One of the many wonderful quotes from this classic.
“Was there anything else?” “Do you have enough room for me then?”
They really hit him with the "is there anything else I can help you with today?" After not helping him with the one thing he wanted today
😂😂😂😂😂
Being very polite
“Yeah just tell my kids that it’s your generals fault they don’t have a father anymore or something, that might help.”
All positions of power dealing w the public do these things.
The Original Customer Service OG
A truly classic movie
saw this movie last night... great movie
It’s a like Monty Python skit!
@Castle Anthrax I meant. Great minds think alike.
@Kamill Gran I was thinking that while watching, too
Check how long his comment has been there Peter. He likely wrote it before the comments you saw.
@Peter LaRonde I hadn’t seen any of the other responses. Not original but clearly true.
How original. Great minds think alike 👌
“Well, I’ll ask him but I don’t think he’ll be too keen… you see he’s already got one!”
" Sorry I wont accept your surrender "
" But we will give our scientists to make nukes for you"
" Alright fine then"
"We shall accept your surrender on one condition, you must bring us a shrubbery!"
Or loopins..
A herring!!!!!!!
@SkatebardCA(anada) NEE WOM
