Can you guys stop with the GIGN, GIGN is like the Best Police Intervention, Basically, the Gendarmeryie will be the military force inside of the country, so protecting the country while being a Military, And Outside will be the army, the army will go outside of the country and do operations around the globe. Special Forces like in the Armée de Terre would be 1er RPIMa, In the Army Air force would be les CPA 10 and in the Marines it would be the Commando Marines. And they would be under the COS, Commandement des Opérations Spéciales. Please, just stop with the GIGN, yes they are a Special Forces unit, but only inside of France, they act as the Police.
The French: “get out the water tanks!” The Germans: “uhhhhhhh I don’t think those are water tanks. But they look funny. Hahahahaha- whoa what the!? OH MY GO-“
There were so many French uniforms in the Napoleonic Age that it would take an animation of 1 hour to go through them all - Sappers of the Guard, Gendarmes of the Guard, Marines of the Guard, Polish Lancers, Foot Artillery of the Guard, the Mameluks, Chasseurs of the Guard, Dragoons, Hussards, Carabiniers and Cuirassiers (to name a few).
Uniforms were far more stylish and different because protection was the last thing on their minds, plus having a stylish and expensive uniform helps morale (this is my opinion not a fact so don’t say anything I’m not a historian) as it may, *may* make soldiers feel important, A fact is that letting you immediately see your unit and know which units are which would help you make plans and decisions
@Ψ Воинomme How is he bragging? hes just saying Russians also have many uniforms during the Napoleonic era, and hes not wrong, you got so defensive for no reason lol
As a member of the toy army men-collecting community, I find these videos invaluable when it comes to painting and styling them. I think a whole series of these videos should be released. Videos on Austrian uniforms history, Italian uniforms, Swedish, Greek, Turkish, Chinese, Mexican, Spanish, Portuguese, and maybe some Latin American countries' uniforms would be great. I understand that they might not be popular with everyone, since it's just clothes and weapons, but it's my suggestion.
I just thought it wasn’t cool that I never thanked you guys on how much your videos helped me when I was doing European history in high school. This channel was a blessing to me and God bless you guys. 💯❤️🔥🔥
Wonderful video! Good on the French for having some of the most diverse uniforms the world has seen. Sometimes helpful, sometimes disappointing, they highlight what is part of the French Military's identity.
Ah, the Old Guard my favorite out of all the regiments in the Grand Armee. Their requirements were very strict unlike their younger version the Young Guard. You had to be 1.73m for chasseurs and 1.78m for the grenadiers (no height requirement for those award the Legion of Honor), knew how to write and read, 35 years of age, 10 year of service and fought at 3 or more campaigns.
@Jurg Bangerter this is about a war against terrorism but I agree some mistakes were made but you have to admit that the invasion of Ukrainian was totally unjustified.
In the 90's, the French started to wear CCE camouflage, which was of the same cut at the olive drab tenue F2. and half way the 90's the French started to wear in a desert environment, a desert camouflage uniform, nicknamed Daguet. And a nice touch, that you used this version of Le Boudin. and in my case, Vive la Legion.
Great video as always! The only thing that ticks me is that the Saint Cyr Military Academy do not parade with rifles, but with swords, as they are officers.
The French aircraft had “cocarde” (national marking) on plane that were the red outside and the blue on centre. The video shows British cocardes that are exactly the contrary.
Yes and even if we remove the cocarde we can recognize that it is an English plane because during the two wars they had blue, white and red at the end of the rear wing (yes that would correspond more to France but that is not the case)
@LiOn something with history, like if you do Canada only thing we are gonna see is British colonial soldiers and modern Canadian uniforms, also the commonwealth uniforms were mostly British uniforms
My great grand father fought during the battle of France in 1940, he was in the tanks tho so he might have had a different uniform. But I'm so proud of that, he participated to one of the few wins that France got against Germany and fought side by side with De Gaulle, who was in the tanks too before becoming a general.
Actually, during WWII, Free French were equipped with what they had left of french uniforms and equipement, british and later also american gear. Free French units were equiped depending on where they were stationed but also on which allied army they were fighting along. French units incorporated in American units would receive American equipement and so on. In a nutshell, they used what ever they could get their hands on and fine tune it too their needs.
Excellent work yet again, you all at Armchair History never cease to amaze with the shear detail you put into your animations. Excellent work. For the next Uniform Evolution video you should do Italy, Sweden, or possibly Spain.
This series of the evolution of uniforms throughout time is really cool! I hope you can do the Chinese uniforms of the PLA, ROC, Qing and Beiyang Army in the future.
Thx you for making this video France has a deep and incredible history that you can tell just by those uniforms its sad that its most of the time only resumed by "France surrendered in WW2"
@Florent Faisy The argument already ended lmao and I have already changed my mind about France, tho there are still countries better than it but anyways, your reply is technically irrelevant.
@Florent Faisy that's not the point. It's simply a matter of what have you done lately. You lost ww2 then proceeded to lose in Vietnam and then Algeria.
Fun fact: In the Napoleonic wars, there were 2 variants of uniforms that were issued. The older one were the ones used by the Imperial Guards to the very last. The newer one was more simpler.
@Laurent Devaux i think the reason why they don't use white uniform aggain because Austrian use the same uniform, there its one battle where one of the regiment have friendly fire because the uniform was white like Austrian
And there were also -albeit for a short time- a white uniform in 1807, intended to replace the blue ones because cheaper. They didn't last so they are little known.
The channel releases videos regularly, with an easy to understand and interesting historical recap. Hope the channel produces more interesting historical videos☺☺
I was so excited when I saw the thumbnail for this video! I was waiting for a video on French uniforms for a long time. Thanks a ton, Griffin! P.S. Could you please do Italian uniforms next?
French commentary : Très bonne vidéo avec plusieurs petit détail très intéressant. Il y a un gros point noir que tu aurais pu présenter ou tu pourras présenter, les uniforme de la Marine Nationale. (the French Navy). Il y a énormément d'évolution des uniformes dans la marine française, et a aussi beaucoup d'uniforme différente en même temps pour une fonction très différente. Je te conseille de d'y pencher. Continue comme ça
The Armchair Historian Team has already done an Austrian March Theme like the other historical great powers, so I can expect an Austrian uniform video too along with Italy & Turkey.
Awesome work and I really loved the visuals along with the effects and uniforms as always Griff! One suggestion for the soon future: Italian uniforms throughout history, for the shits and giggles. Though I will admit, some aspects were pretty cool like those feathered mountain caps which were worn by the Sardinian infantry 😙
I wish there were more video's on the Napoleonic wars. Those would do good! I love the F&M music by the way. Good job making this video! Good video like always!
as a mexican, seeing the animation for the period of the Mexican Franco War 2 was dope, great video like always, i always thought the french had pretty unique uniforms
The roundels on the French WW1 aircraft at 8:15 are incorrectly British. The French used red on the outside and blue in the centre, like the tricolor cockades on hats during the French Revolution. The British initially put the Union Jack on their planes but stopped this practice by 1915 as they were being mistaken for the black Cross Pattée that the Germans used.
selinane2 Seli if France operation is not a defeat, can you explained why the military had to put all efforts to Dien Bien Phu? At that time big cities across Viet Nam still in France’s control. The war was finished when they failed to capture Ha Noi quickly and suppressed any chances for Viet Minh to development. Or before that when they threaten US to join Soviets if Truman allied with Viet Minh. Its true that France control the plateau but its also failed to stop Viet Minh to develop from ragtag to VNPA everyone know in Viet Nam war. And when you cannot make any progresses and enemies developed, defeat is inevitable.
@Narrow ETT If we make the comparison between the US and French wars in Vietnam, the French army probably fought in a tougher way for 9 years, with much less means, especially concerning the air force. The French air force had carried out many raids, mainly with US aircrafts like B26 or Bearcats, but nothing comparable with the carpets of bombs dropped by the USAF. Who dropped in Vietnam more tonnage of bombs than in Europe during WW2. The US war in Vietnam was primarily an air war. The French war had been primarily a jungle war.
@ELIE KOPTER The battle of Hanoi was failed at the beginning, the aim for VNPA was not win Hanoi, but rather buy time for entire high command and every requirements for a long time war evacuated to the north. French legion failed to captured Hanoi quickly and many accessories were evacuated successfully. The capital division evac after complete the mission. From now French army be swallowed by attrition warfare.
@Narrow ETT Battle of hanoi ended in a French victory. French Vietnam war lasted 9 years, 1945/1954, and most big battles were French victories. Except the last one, Dien Bien Phu in 1954, because everything was already fixed between Vietnamese and French authorities for the French withdawal. And for information, many former Wehrmacht and SS veterans were enlisted in the Legion during this war. Here a real color footage shot by a French soldier during the battle of Dien Bien Phu : kzclip.org/video/U98-XT2TWVA/бейне.html en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Hanoi_(1946)
i love these videos so much the quality of them increase so much over the years i didnt even realise how low quality his old videos were until i looked back on them and compared the 2. props to your team.
What a amazing video, by far my favorite. With many references to the french history army as the capitaine d’Anjou with his left Hand in wood at Camerone, or also the Dunkirk battle with this iconic scene in the Nolan movie of the same name when brits retreating and finally the hostage taking of the flight 8689 Air France at Marignane. Perfectly realised with french military backgroûnd. No sincerelly what a wonderdul work, masterclass
I really love the channel and how it shows history in an easily consumable way. The only problem i have with it is that the soldiers have a hunchback on everyone which kinda looks weird to me. But my opinion should not make you change your animation style at all! Other than that I love the channel! Keep it up!
Like always your videos have incredible art and are very informative! I would love to see your take on the capture of forts at Verdun in ww1 or perhaps Swedish uniform evolution.
Hope that the next episode would be about the uniform of Spanish army🇪🇸, one of the oldest active armies in the world. The stark contrast between the Habsburg Spanish army and the modern one would be really interesting.
For those interested, on the 14th of July is the national day (or Bastille Day if you're in Louisiana) where there is a military parade on the champs Elysée. You will see many uniforms and more
Very good video as usual, I allow myself to add some precision on the uniforms of the 20th century, during the ww1 the colonial troops had their green uniform (similar to the regular one of the ww2) this green had been proposed for the regular army since 1916 but some generals found that the uniform lacked panache that is why the blue was kept, during the ww2 for the free French forces there were British uniforms as in the videos but also in North Africa the legionnaires were in English uniform with the famous white kepis and mainly American uniforms from 1943 (see mixed American uniform + m26 helmet) in Indochina the combat dress and the armament were so varied that it is difficult to make a standardization but we can see different camouflage like the U.S "duck hunter", the british denison smoke and the french outfits TAP 47/56 and many other, in the videos the men wear their hats like the australian bu the French fold both sides of the hat, I could add some detail but my comments are quite long 😅 thank you if you have read this far
Absolutely love the Napoleonic era uniforms, and basically everything from WWI onward. The GIGN doesn't have my favorite uniforms compared to other similar international units, but I still like it well enough.
GiGN = French SWAT. It is not a military force used during regular battles or in foreign territories. It is only involved in high risk police interventions in France. On the other side, French special forces are composed of various commandos, regrouped under a central command named COS.
One thing about WWII and the French uniform was they also used a lot of American equipment. In the Osprey series the second booklet on French uniforms shows that they often mixed up whatever gear they could get. In the same book they show a French paratrooper who served in eastern France and his uniform and rifle are all American, only his patches distinguish as French. There is even a Willie and Joe comic that makes a comment about how the French were using mostly American equipment when Willie and Joe are with a girl among French soldiers all kitted out in American gear and their evading an American MP by saying "No parle Englis".
Too bad you missed the late 90's combat uniform with the specific CCE camo pattern, the heavy and non practical flak jacket, used in major operations like Licorne, Kfor, Sfor and at the beginning of the ISAF. By the way, the Spectra helmet (basically the PASGT) has been replaced since the 2010s by the TC and Félin helmet. The Spectra is still in use in support unit, navy and air force, not on the frontlines. But a big thank you for talking of our army! I love the way you tell about history that makes it easy to understand. Keep on!!
Could you do one on Spanish military uniforms? Some date back to the 1500s and the conquistadores, others vary depending on the unit they belong to. For instance, the Guardia Civil wears dark green uniforms and dark black tricorne hats, the Royal Guard wears a mixture of German and French uniforms and is the oldest military unit in Europe.
The Old Guard is in fact a group of different regiments. The ones in this videos are Old Guard Grenadiers. In the Old Guard, you can also find Chasseurs, and many other units like cavalry and artillery for example
as always a great video mate......would be awesome if you could do videos on more ww1 battles like the battle of tannenberg and the battles of the byzantine empire......thank you
The Armchair Historian should now do the Italian uniform history, followed by the US Marines uniforms, the Spanish uniform history, the Czech uniform history, the South Korean uniforms, the Australian uniform history and the Polish uniform history.
I wore a shako for 4-years and have apparently been pronouncing it incorrectly for over 10-years now lol Everyone in the drum corps I was in always pronounced it (SHAY-kō) and I've been rolling with it since then.
Just a reminder this is a quick and easy deconstruction of the French military uniforms, it's indeed as everyone imagine deeper and more complexe that presented in this video, which nonethless is very informative and amazing to look at!
I'd love to see you continue the squad battles series with a modern twist, for example: Vietnamese armed forces vs the khemer rouge troops Chechnea fighters vs Russia federation soldiers Iraqi/Syrian forces vs isis militants.
Actually, the garrisons of several Maginot forts still used a certain number of horizon-blue uniforms well within the Interwar Period, maybe even during the Phoney War.
I appreciate the reference of the Marignane airline attack in the background for the GIGN section ... (For those who are unfamiliar with this event, it's THE operation that marked the professionalism of the GIGN, you can compare it as the operation Nimrod for the SAS, there's some live footage available on Internet as well as a documentary on it, there you will understand the circumstances and why it was so important, enjoy your research)
Welcome back - love your videos. I feel like WWI is not appreciated enough - and it is not covered enough in this channel. Would love to see a Battle of the Somme or Verdun or WW1 from the German or Bulgarian perspective.
Does this mean a lot of military parade uniforms originated from the French? The military academy in my country uses the pouches that has slings around the body that forms an "X" 3:15. Next would be the "shako" at 3:50. We also have the gold buttons on the uniforms. Overall, the patterns being used now is more or less the same but for different purposes. As a former American colony, it was emphasized that the uniforms and training are based on West Point Academy. Now I know it goes way further back in history. Thank you for sharing topics like these!
Amazing, I have been waiting for this one! Just a little nitpick, the roundels of the planes at 8:06 should be 'red, white, blue', and not 'blue, white, red', which is the British roundel!

Hey Armchair Historian how About you do a Animated Of🍕Italian🇮🇹uniforms from 1861 or even Roman times all the way to present day.
can you do italian uniforms
Can you guys stop with the GIGN, GIGN is like the Best Police Intervention, Basically, the Gendarmeryie will be the military force inside of the country, so protecting the country while being a Military, And Outside will be the army, the army will go outside of the country and do operations around the globe.

And they would be under the COS, Commandement des Opérations Spéciales.
Please, just stop with the GIGN, yes they are a Special Forces unit, but only inside of France, they act as the Police.
Can you make a video called Evolution of Mexican Uniforms also in Evolution of Mexican Uniforms include WW2 Mexican Uniforms
Can you do finland
I still love how everyone was wearing brown in WW1 and the French were just “no”
Italians, Germans, Austro-Hungarians, Serbians, Ottomans: ok
The French: “get out the water tanks!” The Germans: “uhhhhhhh I don’t think those are water tanks. But they look funny. Hahahahaha- whoa what the!? OH MY GO-“
@Jaden FordI read that book in my school.
Bruuuuuuuuuuuuh
but the germans wore grey

Stand User I don't think french people were accepted into the regiment.
Uniforms were far more stylish and different because protection was the last thing on their minds,
plus having a stylish and expensive uniform helps morale (this is my opinion not a fact so don’t say anything I’m not a historian) as it may, *may* make soldiers feel important,
A fact is that letting you immediately see your unit and know which units are which would help you make plans and decisions
@Earthen Jadis beautiful uniforms and the bravest of the brave shown at Samosierra, 1808.
The Dutch lancers, Lithuanian lancer, grenadier cavalry, empress dragoons and many more, the colourful variety of the napoleonic wars was amazing!
@Ψ Воинomme How is he bragging? hes just saying Russians also have many uniforms during the Napoleonic era, and hes not wrong, you got so defensive for no reason lol
Respect for this man living 300+ years just to use all french uniforms
An absolute legend fr
Dpn't you recognize Carcajou ?
Incroyables la vidéo, merci beaucoup. Je ne connaissais pas vraiment les armures des soldats français. En tout cas bravo.
I love my country, even if everyone always has something bad to say about it.
france is cool not surrender
Hoh hoh hoh, oui oui, baguette
Ich bin Deutscher und ich liebe Frankreich.
@Wolfi999 Gaming Tu connais le respect? Je croit pas non.
Les mecs...starting a comment chain about correct grammar is the most truly French thing possible that could have happened in these comments.

@RT- PD i know, it was sarcasm
@Tanks in Space No, they cover over things like battles in diffrent eras
@Kunicus . Is this channel only about military uniforms?
@Kunicus Yeah there probaly not in america
You guys learn about European military uniforms in high school?
Wonderful video! Good on the French for having some of the most diverse uniforms the world has seen. Sometimes helpful, sometimes disappointing, they highlight what is part of the French Military's identity.
@Obunga yep
@theycallmesteve That, and people don't have the brainpower to look beyond a single event
T.V.2 bot
@BHuang92 They only surrendered once in WWII to actually give a chance for any “French identity” to survive.
…and that’s what got their stereotype.
@BHuang92 Indeed so!
Ah, the Old Guard my favorite out of all the regiments in the Grand Armee. Their requirements were very strict unlike their younger version the Young Guard. @Jurg Bangerter jamais j'ai entendu autant de conneries arrêter votre french bashing vous êtes un ennemie jaloux
@Jurg Bangerter also idk how we got to this as we were talking about Napoleon.
@Jurg Bangerter this is about a war against terrorism but I agree some mistakes were made but you have to admit that the invasion of Ukrainian was totally unjustified.

It’s amazing how much information you can give your audience in such little time.
The French aircraft had “cocarde” (national marking) on plane that were the red outside and the blue on centre. The video shows British cocardes that are exactly the contrary.
@Acte Profane merci
@AzertyMoiloi Pour ne plus confondre, il faut savoir que la cocarde part du centre
J'ai toujours confondu les deux
Yes and even if we remove the cocarde we can recognize that it is an English plane because during the two wars they had blue, white and red at the end of the rear wing (yes that would correspond more to France but that is not the case)
I think you should also do the Evolution of Italian Uniforms, there is a lot of history to uncover!
That's true
Or Serbia or yugoslavia
@LiOn something with history, like if you do Canada only thing we are gonna see is British colonial soldiers and modern Canadian uniforms, also the commonwealth uniforms were mostly British uniforms
@Jotaro Kujo Nahh
Yeah, maybe turkish or Spanish ones too? Maybe China is next
The 1940 uniform is my favorite. Thanks for making this video!
@Pierre Roussel what ?
@Lunky Straydog Revoie ton histoire du coup
@Jojo Betzler I forgot this comment even existed.
@Toppat Royale cuh you got ratioed HARD lmfao

@Pujo 65MAT49, great choice. But I have a crush on the MAS49/56. 😋
@John B. Rush camouflage tigre+casque US+MAT49=perfection x)
@Pujo 65 A connaisseur!
@Thomas Lacornette indochina uniforms 😍😍
I like a lot the mix of americans uniforms with French "Képi" hat or french tankist/motorcycle helmets.

@Joeywheeler II la france a gagné la guerre d'Algérie.. Vous êtes très inculte
@Joeywheeler II USA also losed in Nam :)
@Maniac Mando Technically France is still present in a lot of continents via our overseas territories
@Florent Faisy The argument already ended lmao and I have already changed my mind about France, tho there are still countries better than it but anyways, your reply is technically irrelevant.

Thanks for your great job.

Keep it up!
I was hoping you would do this! The British one was my favourite, I'm watching this now! Thanks for the amazing content btw.
@Jo Mo thanks!
I like your profile picture 👌🏼👏🏼 🇺🇦🙏🏼🇺🇦
The Queen's guard men are my favourites. I had the honor to be photographed with one of them.
Like always your videos have incredible art and are very informative!
I would love to see your take on the capture of forts at Verdun in ww1 or perhaps Swedish uniform evolution.
Nice! I always enjoy watching these uniform videos your team makes!
Hope that the next episode would be about the uniform of Spanish army🇪🇸, one of the oldest active armies in the world. The stark contrast between the Habsburg Spanish army and the modern one would be really interesting.
These videos keep getting better
From a soldier walking in a felid to realistic combat
Gotta do the Chinese and Italians next. Love these videos!
For those interested, on the 14th of July is the national day (or Bastille Day if you're in Louisiana) where there is a military parade on the champs Elysée. You will see many uniforms and more
Very good video as usual, I allow myself to add some precision on the uniforms of the 20th century, during the ww1 the colonial troops had their green uniform (similar to the regular one of the ww2) this green had been proposed for the regular army since 1916 but some generals found that the uniform lacked panache that is why the blue was kept, during the ww2 for the free French forces there were British uniforms as in the videos but also in North Africa the legionnaires were in English uniform with the famous white kepis and mainly American uniforms from 1943 (see mixed American uniform + m26 helmet)
in Indochina the combat dress and the armament were so varied that it is difficult to make a standardization but we can see different camouflage like the U.S "duck hunter", the british denison smoke and the french outfits TAP 47/56 and many other, in the videos the men wear their hats like the australian bu the French fold both sides of the hat, I could add some detail but my comments are quite long 😅
thank you if you have read this far
swedish uniforms would be really interesting! i would enjoy that
Absolutely love the Napoleonic era uniforms, and basically everything from WWI onward.
Will you ever do Evolution of Bulgarian uniforms? I think it’s going to be a interesting video.
You could do an entire video on the uniforms of Louis XIV. There were so many various uniforms it's hard to keep them straight.
You guys deserve more subs these videos are absolutely outstanding
Ooh I think Chinese Uniforms should be next on the list imo, very very nice video!
It would be interesting to see parrallels between PRC and ROC uniforms since 1949
Would be long, due to the numerous different uniforms during the warlord era and ww2.
That's what I said lol
One thing about WWII and the French uniform was they also used a lot of American equipment. In the Osprey series the second booklet on French uniforms shows that they often mixed up whatever gear they could get. In the same book they show a French paratrooper who served in eastern France and his uniform and rifle are all American, only his patches distinguish as French. There is even a Willie and Joe comic that makes a comment about how the French were using mostly American equipment when Willie and Joe are with a girl among French soldiers all kitted out in American gear and their evading an American MP by saying "No parle Englis".
I love the evolution series please keep doing it!
Great video! I hope to see an evolution on the Italian uniforms
Great work as usual! Could you make a video on the Burmese campaign? I feel like that's an often overlooked part of the war.
Keep on!!
Would have been nice to see some more bourbon restoration uniforms as they seem to be barely covered. But overall great video.
Love these uniform videos, could you maybe do one for Portugal?
Keep up your videos I love them so much and I wish I had found this channel sooner. Keep up the good work
Could you do one on Spanish military uniforms? Some date back to the 1500s and the conquistadores, others vary depending on the unit they belong to. For instance, the Guardia Civil wears dark green uniforms and dark black tricorne hats, the Royal Guard wears a mixture of German and French uniforms and is the oldest military unit in Europe.
French uniform may not always be the most practical but they always look cool
The Old Guard is in fact a group of different regiments. The ones in this videos are Old Guard Grenadiers. In the Old Guard, you can also find Chasseurs, and many other units like cavalry and artillery for example
Can we please get a video on the evolution of the Spanish uniforms they play such a cute role in the early colonial. Amid colonial era
Love your videos on this subject, I'd love to see you make one on the Italian forces
as always a great video mate......would be awesome if you could do videos on more ww1 battles like the battle of tannenberg and the battles of the byzantine empire......thank you
Fun fact: Even with the amount of prestige that the Napoleon's Old Guard receive, the French soldiers also often referred to them as "the Immortals"
Awesome video, would love to see a Evolution of Australian Uniform
As a french I'd just want to say that the "L" in "fusil" is silent and "fusiller" sounds like "fussiyer". Great video
10:32 this shot is 🔥🔥🔥 give the animator a raise for that one.
Hey Griff can you make a video about the evolution of Swedish military uniforms? I'm half Swedish and would love to learn more
Man the animation quality is increasing exponentially
My favorite is definitely the French and Indian war period. Something about the White coat with blue and gold trim looks really good to me
The Armchair Historian should now do the Italian uniform history, followed by the US Marines uniforms, the Spanish uniform history, the Czech uniform history, the South Korean uniforms, the Australian uniform history and the Polish uniform history.
Will there be even more of these videos? Maybe even for smaller regions like the nordic and such?
Very cool detail to add Danjou's wooden hand when speaking of the FFL
Hello . I want to thank you for the content that you make, I really look forward to when you make a video about the evolution of the Spanish uniform.
Napoleon really set the French Military to a status of impressive with the academy still functioning.
3:50 loved to see them march in formation pls do more of that
You should do a Vietnamese uniform timeline I like your history videos they are very entertaining to me and I like history myself
I wore a shako for 4-years and have apparently been pronouncing it incorrectly for over 10-years now lol Everyone in the drum corps I was in always pronounced it (SHAY-kō) and I've been rolling with it since then.
One of the best transitions yet. Good work.
It's a shame that tricorn hats ever went out of style, it's among the best-looking piece of military gear ever designed imo.
In France, It's still used in dress uniforms for female personnel (male personnel wear the kepi) in the ground army, gendarmerie and civilian police.
My favorite one is the late 1800's ones with the cap covers. Love those tropical type uniforms
great vid, would like to see dress/service uniforms in future videos if possible
An excellent video. I really like and enjoy these uniform video's. Is their any that hasn't been covered yet?
Just a reminder this is a quick and easy deconstruction of the French military uniforms, it's indeed as everyone imagine deeper and more complexe that presented in this video, which nonethless is very informative and amazing to look at!
I'd love to see you continue the squad battles series with a modern twist, for example:
Vietnamese armed forces vs the khemer rouge troops
Chechnea fighters vs Russia federation soldiers
Iraqi/Syrian forces vs isis militants.
or american soldiers against taliban Islamic Emirate Army
Also Americans vs The Waffen SS
And British vs Italians
Hey will you do the evolution of Greek uniforms , i would love it 🤭 . Nonetheless you do a great job continue like this .
I was just watching another video of yours and then I saw this! Loving the content! Keep it up man!
Finally an episode on my country !
Amazing, I have been waiting for this one! Just a little nitpick, the roundels of the planes at 8:06 should be 'red, white, blue', and not 'blue, white, red', which is the British roundel!
I love this series! I would also love to see greece and turkey!
