A small suggestion: Although the bronze cylinders are lovely, they might be a bit too busy for the space - they'll detract from the other eye-catching elements which you have already installed. Take the recessed fixtures down, scuff sand and try a complimentary tone or finish; let them "disappear" into the ceiling - allow them to be functional rather than a distraction. BTW, I'm a professional lighting designer (LC). Your home is amazing - keep up the beautiful work!
@Amanda Creates Stuff #moonlightcraft2022 FYI: Although a great solution, it would involve a significant re-do of his ceiling (re-sizing of fixture cut out, mudding, sanding, re-finishing).
@Lone Fox 😉 Good lighting practice is if it is not a decorative focal point, your eye should not be drawn to it. Functional or accent lighting should enhance or embrace a space; to "feel it" rather than see it's source. If you're planning on including under shelf or cabinet lighting, the sane rule applies. I highly recommend a lensed selection (LED tape in an extruded aluminum channel with frosted lens) so as to avoid the dreaded "dot" reveal on the counter surface... The light should "glow". Another tip is to pay attention to the temperature (Kelvin rating) and be consistent throughout your home. Since you have a substantial volume of incandescent fixtures in your home, 2700k will more than likely blend in nicely. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions; always happy to share my knowledge base!
I know it wasn’t your first choice to keep the kitchen layout the way it is but it is honestly SO nice to see a smaller/not open concept kitchen come together and be so beautiful 🥹
though trapezoid shaped ranged are commonly used, I think a sharp square or rectangle shape would look really nice. Especially if it just pops out/comes off of the wall and has the plaster design over it This one might be crazy too but a circular range hood 😭 like there would just be a circle shape coming out from the wall and there would be an opening underneath it for the vent. Or oval. Lol but that might be crazy but I think it would be cool to play with the shapes. If you want it too look like it was built with the wall, maybe like a chimney style too?
You are the HARDEST WORKING designer on social media! I love how you tackle new things. You show the whole process which is so unlike every other designer I watch. It sparks ideas for your viewers while setting realistic expectations about the work necessary to get it done. And let's not forget, your designs ROCK! BTW, I agree with the other ppl posting to keep the ceiling lights you have, just blend them better to the plaster.
Just gonna say it, if anyone thinks this video is boring, then they don't have a designing bone in their body! I "freaking" love your kitchen too! Your style is so unique yet it blends with a perfect mix of class, comfort, and warmth. I feel like I could walk into any room you've designed and say, "Dru was here".
I grew up in a home with arched doorways and beautiful textured walls like yours. It was a modest brick ranch, but I felt like it was a mansion. My parents did such a good job with a minimal budget. This brings back great memories.
ohh Drew..those amber lights in front of the windows are stunning. I was watching you trowel the walls and thinking " I could do that in the grandkids gameroom and while its wet..they can put their handprints and maybe some finger drawings into the plaster. We could call it our "memory wall". You're so inspirational.
That plastering is absolutely stunning! I have an obsession with texture. It just adds a richness to a room that color never can (after lighting, of course). Anyway, the plastering raises your kitchen to a whole new level. Good choice! ❤️
Drew I understand why you're so thrilled. Those walls do look wonderful and they fit with the design of the room so well. It is just a blast to sit and watch you do these things and then be so happy about how they turn out.
I say it time and time again. Trust the process. When Drew started I was looking at him sideways with some of the choices and every video I am blown away and love everything.😊
Drew, I love everything you have done in your kitchen so far. You have incredible taste as well as the talent to carry out your ideas. OMG! Those walls! I get so excited just watching your videos. So far, so amazing!!!
Drew - your home make over for that couple was amazing! You should have your own show on HGTV because of how incredibly talented you are!! I love you and your style!!
I love the new pendants! If you could go over to your next door neighbor to help them with re-org of their kitchen window, that would be amazing 😍! I've never seen that many cleaning products on one small sill area.
Your videos are so enjoyable to watch. As a teacher, I can’t tell you how valuable it is to listen to your “think aloud” process. We learn so much that way as you evaluate options and choices and the “why” behind your final decisions. Thank you!
I hope they hire you to be the spokesman for the wall product, it looks so good! I expect everyone is going to be trying this look soon, can we say "trending now"
I have to say this kitchen is bloody gorgeous I cannot wait for the finished product, I'm talking about the whole house. It's so exciting to watch you bring each room to life. Thanks for always sharing you're wonderful talent with us and can't wait to see next weeks episode🙏🏽😊
You are always so upbeat and give good energy. I have to admit I’m a total grouch and normally can’t stand watching people who are super positive all the time because I can’t relate to them and it’s seems like a facade for the camera to me. But drew it’s hard not to smile whenever you’re on screen because it’s so genuine.
I think Drew was so excited maybe more than they were. You nailed it Drew. You deserve to have people sponsor you!!! The remodel of your new house is one surprise and amazing this after another. This is amazing.
Nothing you do is boring because you continue to talk throughout, sharing your thoughts, and joy. Your designs are beautiful and you are always a pure joy to watch create.
Drew is so relatable hahah I love how he tries new things and doesn't really know what he's doing but it turns out amazing nevertheless 😃 it makes me feel like I could accomplish it as well 😄😄
Drew the kitchen is coming out amazing. Also I love the pendent lights. I would stick with a simple recess light just so you don't take away from the rest of the kitchen. Love everything your doing so elegant.
I love how you try new things. It's a good lesson for folks like me who wait and wait before trying something new. Oh, and your kitchen looks beautiful!
It’s coming along sooo nice! A copper range hood would look nice and play off the other copper pieces. I love the light fixtures you hung, close up reminded me of Batman with the points on his mask lol, beautiful ❤️
My only concern doing the same texture on the range hood is cleaning it. Kitchens need to be deep cleaned and that is difficult on porous surfaces. I am absolutely loving the kitchen (actually everything you've done). This is such an exciting journey.
In my humble opinion, watching you apply plaster on the walls was not boring. I absolutely enjoyed witnessing such. Thank you for sharing your spaces with us, Drew. ❤
Glad to see you back home. I love that you take on projects that you haven’t done before. So glad you are honoring the period of the house with an update twist. Love your energy!❤
First off, never boring! It's actually relaxing to watch you plaster/paint. Love your joy and enthusiasm! It really really looks amazingly beautiful! Can't wait to see it all finished, though it's tons of fun to see the process! ❤👏🏻
The lamps...everything is gorgeous! I hope you go really far in this business. I love how warm and cozy you make everything without that cookie cutter “done” feel. It’s hard to explain but I think you have something unique to offer the design world. Your interiors are just so calming yet relevant.
Your Kitchen is looking so incredible! Can't wait to see the end project!! In my humble opinion, I think the kitchen ceiling lights should stay neutral and blend into ceiling.
The plaster and lantern truly look like they are orginal to the house- wonderful choices- so happy your home is turning out so well for you- you deserve it. I discovered your channel at the beginning of lock-down for CoVID and you really helped me get through some tough times.
Wow, it looks stunning! You always make things look so easy to do when it really isn’t!! (I can’t 😂) Such a neat and beautiful work you’ve done here, Drew! 👍🏻👍🏻
The kitchen is the heart of almost every home so I’m thrilled to watch someone spend time getting the kitchen renovated and done. I was also recalled excited to see you choose an old, historical home. I hate it when old homes are just torn down.Older, and historical homes offer so many beautiful architectural details you just do not find in new homes. The renovation you’re doing is stunning and I love watching. I also thought the total home renovation you did was spectacular. It did not even look like the same home when you finished. Thanks for sharing your work!!!
I normally hate being in a kitchen - especially one that is in a seperate room - BUT I would spend ALL DAY in your kitchen!!!!! I love every aspect of it!!!! It is all coming together amazingly 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I love the tips and comments you give to us as you work. Those lights look awesome in front of the windows. Remember that you do need light in the kitchen, make sure you get good coverage which ever option you chose.
for the recessed lighting, we have a bronzey brown kind, and it adds a cool element to match the cabinets while leaving the ceiling level so they don't drown out your beautiful hanging lights.
I sell Meoded's products and other manufacturer's products at my self owned/self run studio in Chicago. I'm so glad you finally found out about them, I've been telling you to check them out!! There's so much to love about lime plasters, especially that very low to no VOC! I'm currently troweling Marmorino in my office, we'll match! 😍
Perfect door hardware. ♥️ I painted my counters like veined granite several times and I love them. It's almost time to do it again! I just repaint when I get sick of them. 😁
Hi Drew, love your kitchen makeover! Another suggestion concerning the recessed lights (if you manage to keep them): you can switch them up with a deeper spot light that has a black/ bronze reflector (just not white since it reflects a lot of light) so the light wouldn't cause any glare and wouldn't distract from the main elements of the kitchen, making it more appealing to the eye.
I absolutely love you Drew! Your channel is AMAZING! How have I survived as a home design lunatic all these years without this channel? Keep up the amazing home vlogs, we love them!
That sanded wall finish is stunning! I had true lath and plaster walks in my first home and loved the look and feel. The house is coming together beautifully Drew💜
Drew, I absolutely love your kitchen! Regarding the recessed lighting, I think the bronze lights would detract from your beautiful hanging pendants. I also think they are a bit too modern for the space.
You are so talented, Drew. It's such a pleasure to watch you design interior spaces. I'm not always with you on every item choice, but I always admire your finished creation. Thanks for bringing us along on your journeys.
I love this video, Drew. Not only is everything coming along beautifully, but you are absolutely hilarious too. I love your personality so much and it's so nice to watch you bring your dream space into fruition. XO
I love how you have so many projects going on within your overall project, but you’re still able to keep your vision for what you want and how it will all come together. Amazing! Since you asked, I think you should keep the simple pot lights. The ones that drop down will take away from all the other more interesting things you have going on in your kitchen😍
Drew loving the new lights they look so good, and wall covering colour is beautiful and amazing texture, your excitement is infectious and spreads happiness.
You don’t know how badly I want you to wear a headband!!! (or a backwards baseball hat!) I find myself pushing my hair out of MY EYES when I’m watching you. Especially during the home makeover reveal 😂😂😂. Love you Drew.
It looks great! For the down lights, they’re not feature lights, they’re supposed to light the space well for a purpose. You kinda want them to blend in with the ceiling so it’s like the space is lit up but you don’t notice where it’s coming from, they aren’t screaming “look at me” IMO
You are amazing Drew!! Absolutely awesome plaster finish. Textured and a bit moody. I love it!! Goes to show if you think you can and are determined we're capable of ANYTHING!! L👀ks so good!! Good for you! 💚💙
Oh my Drew. The walls in the kitchen are gorgeous. They appear to have depth which is lovely. Subtle movement, softness and warmth. The amber glass fixtures are perfect. So very sculptural and beautiful in the windows. What a good find! I am blown away by the chic beauty of your kitchen. When you have completed the kitchen I know it will deserve the front cover of Architectural Digest. Wow. Just wow.
I’m so happy for you! Voting to do more of a blended recessed lighting the the cylinder ones. I’m obsessed with the transition! I can’t help but share I was a bit distracted with your neighbors window, housing all those cleaning products🤦🏽♀️
Hey Drew, the house is looking fab ! Just a quick tip to save you a lot of money. You can just use drywall compound instead of designer wall treatment. I thought of this years ago when I also had a mediterranean style home. There were 3 sky lights in the kitchen . The ceiling in between them had some surface cracks that I wanted to cover up . I put it on with a hand trowel and moved the the compound around to my liking. After, I painted. The ceiling looked brand new when I was finished with an amazing medeterranean vibe. If you like the sand you can always add some to the mix yourself for pennies . Have fun !
@Destiny's Child I painted over the compound when I was finished. I wanted warmer color like Drew chose and as you know the compound is light grey. After that I didn't have any problems with chipping.
Wasn't so sure about the particular marble you picked but now that everything is coming together, it's honestly perfect. You're the absolute master at this. So glad you get to do it FOR YOURSELF!
Looking gorgeous. Definitely go with the mini flush mount ceiling lights instead of the recessed cans. It will work better with the style of the kitchen.
Just a suggestion: those recessed lights also come in either copper or bronze slick or brushed finishes and I honestly think something along those lines would be more appropriate for the kitchen; too many lovely things in one space will take away from the simple beauty of the wood & stonework 👌 Those walls & texture: I FRICKIN' LOVE EM TOO DREWPY!!! 💯🥰🥰🥰
Def do the light ceiling idea you mentioned that are bronze. That would look so nice in the kitchen. Would match the hardware in the kitchen and add further light design character that you've already brought w.the vintage lighting
I love seeing the process behind your makeovers, tbh I was a bit sad that you didn’t share that much in the house makeover series (probably due to the minimal time you had). It wasn’t boring to me to see how the plaster was applied :)
A small suggestion: Although the bronze cylinders are lovely, they might be a bit too busy for the space - they'll detract from the other eye-catching elements which you have already installed. 💯% agree. 👍🏾

I’m always so impressed by Drew’s abilities, and workmanship! Working with plaster is time consuming but so rewarding.
Thank you!! 😊

Awwww thank you!! This comment was so sweet
Sorry I spelled your name wrong Drew. Oops!
I grew up in a home with arched doorways and beautiful textured walls like yours. It was a modest brick ranch, but I felt like it was a mansion. My parents did such a good job with a minimal budget. This brings back great memories.

I love that idea!!!!
Just imagine the JOY of being able to afford to order the exact tile, decor, or whatever for your home!
We're living vicariously through Drew! 😁
That plastering is absolutely stunning! I have an obsession with texture. It just adds a richness to a room that color never can (after lighting, of course). Anyway, the plastering raises your kitchen to a whole new level. Good choice! ❤️
As an interior designer I can say that your style brings serene elegance to every room. Love your work!
Drew I understand why you're so thrilled. Those walls do look wonderful and they fit with the design of the room so well. It is just a blast to sit and watch you do these things and then be so happy about how they turn out.
The plaster walls look stunning and very much fit the house.
I finally see your vision and it is stunning. It takes a special talent to do what you are doing. So excited to see the finished home.
I say it time and time again. Trust the process. When Drew started I was looking at him sideways with some of the choices and every video I am blown away and love everything.😊
This is me 😂 I start every design with ehhhh… and by the end it is always stunning. He’s super talented.
You doing the walls was not at all boring. I love seeing it all!! You work so hard! Your house project is amazing! I'm so happy for you!

My thoughts too
@tep1962 No i think all that crap is in the neighbors window.
Isn't that part of his house?
Hilarious, my thoughts exactly!
I know right?!
Your videos are so enjoyable to watch. As a teacher, I can’t tell you how valuable it is to listen to your “think aloud” process. We learn so much that way as you evaluate options and choices and the “why” behind your final decisions. Thank you!
Yay,I enjoyed your mini series but so happy to see you back at the house , loving everything your doing in the kitchen, great job Drew!!!
The home make over was so beautiful you could just tell the family just loved it so much

Also, I'd leave the cans to blend in with the ceiling. Let the pendants and other outstanding features really shine.

The glass lanterns in front of the windows look great! The sun shines through the colored glass and the vintage/Spanish vibe goes well with the house.
Drew is so relatable hahah I love how he tries new things and doesn't really know what he's doing but it turns out amazing nevertheless 😃 it makes me feel like I could accomplish it as well 😄😄

Your choice in lighting is genius, as with your entire home. It’s fabulous!
I'm in love with how the wall treatment not only adds texture but warmth to the kitchen. The color is so on point!

Drew commenting about patina is my favourite thing right now 🥰
Loving this whole journey!

I hope you send the milk glass shade to a store were it can be found for the right house. Love the amber glow of the new one
The walls turned out gorgeous. You’re entire kitchen is gorgeous and at this point in time I haven’t seen the final results but it is just stunning.

I’m not a fan of marble but I have to admit your kitchen is stunning! Your passion is coming through!
How can a person be so artsy, talented and also so handy! ❤ your home styles!
AND cute! what a sweetheart
So excited about how the kitchen is turning out. Love the new walls and new lights.
That wall treatment is absolutely stunning
Yayyyy I’m excited to see the house again, even tho I loveddddd the house makeover it was absolutely stunning!!
The walls look amazing Drew! And the new light fixtures just make the kitchen complete.
This kitchen makes me breathless with its beauty. Can’t wait to see what’s coming next.
I have been waiting so patiently for those lanterns to go up. Stunning! So much SOUL.
The walls look fantastic! I think those bronze ceiling lights would look way better than the existing recessed lights.
I still can’t get over how gorgeous all your marble is, gobsmacking, I could look at it all day
Oh gosh Drew, your never boring! Your home is coming along beautifully! Love the kitchen walls & the light fixtures are stunning! ❤
Your kitchen is looking better and better each time you work on it! Congratulations!!!
That plasterwork is amazing, and it was soooo soothing watching you apply it. Love the natural texture.
The plastered wall is such a beautiful contrast with your gorgeous marble countertop!

Drew, I absolutely love your kitchen! Regarding the recessed lighting, I think the bronze lights would detract from your beautiful hanging pendants. I also think they are a bit too modern for the space.

Drew loving the new lights they look so good, and wall covering colour is beautiful and amazing texture, your excitement is infectious and spreads happiness.
I love how much in love you are with your house as you make it your own. It’s incredibly beautiful!
You don’t know how badly I want you to wear a headband!!! (or a backwards baseball hat!) I find myself pushing my hair out of MY EYES when I’m watching you. Especially during the home makeover reveal 😂😂😂. Love you Drew.
Love the subtle texture and color of these kitchen walls! So much to love in this room. Nice palette choices!
Can't get over how the scones look like Batman to me 😂 Love how everything is coming together and love that we're on this journey with you ❤

Your kitchen just keeps getting better and better!!! LOVE!!!
I’m so happy for you! Voting to do more of a blended recessed lighting the the cylinder ones.

@Hear and Obey thank you 😊
@L. M. Dyre Vacuuming it every so often, with the upholstery brush attachment.
@Destiny's Child I bet it looked great around your fireplace though.
@Destiny's Child I painted over the compound when I was finished. I wanted warmer color like Drew chose and as you know the compound is light grey. After that I didn't have any problems with chipping.
Thank you for this hack, I have surface cracks on my bathroom walls and I am going to try this with sand!
Honestly drew, I was initially worried, especially after you painted the cupboards dark brown. but it has all come together so beautifully 😍
It is so nice to see you back at your home. So happy for you!
By the way, I’m completely OBSESSED how the walls turned out 😭😭 everything is looking so beautiful 😩😭😍😍
It came out so awesome and the lights are such a picturesque addition to a beautiful space👍👏🎉it all fits together as though it was always there!
I think we’re gonna need more of that plaster in other rooms in others coloursssss😮
Like that living room where he had that plaster fail
I agree!
Those light fixtures are so perfect in this space! You are doing a beautiful job!
That wall texture is gorgeous - I’m so in love with your kitchen and can’t wait to see the floor tile!
I love seeing the process behind your makeovers, tbh I was a bit sad that you didn’t share that much in the house makeover series (probably due to the minimal time you had). It wasn’t boring to me to see how the plaster was applied :)
We need a house tour to see this master piece in person 🥰
