for the next video try to make joel and grian be nice to you (they cant be mean in the slightest) while you do stuff that you know will make them make fun of you
An idea for a mini series to help you get better at building: "Getting in the mind of builders". Basically get your builders friends to join you in a creative world you talk and try to do a small build together, and they help breakdown their thought process and approach to building. My first suggestion since you are a bit tighter with the HC crew now is BDubs, the guy is a building genius and always has good tips and outlooks with building and a great person to learn from!
@Kevin Bumgardner lol I remember Tangotek dissing Bdubs that he should ask advice from Scar for his builds and Bdubs answering back that Tango should ask ImpulseSV about his redstone in the DeckOut2..
@Cospaws lol, not really for this series, but just a good mini series he could do outside of this one. Was more so a thought since he wants to get better at building and often invites builder friends for videos anyways.
Builders make these things by scratch, out of their own mind, and put it together specifically to show other people. I don't think there's any more concrete way to ensure something stays in your memory forever. Not to mention that these three have a very distinctive style!
I personally do think it's going to depend a little bit on the amount of effort put in. Few artists remember every little sketch, but I imagine that most remember every finished project.
I think the reason that builders remember their builds more is because it takes such a long time to go from concept to basic design to fleshing out the details and completing it. Something like a simple cottage could've been in someone's brain for ages while they tried to figure out how to put it into a certain theme in a series.
Yeah pretty much. I'm not sure how much time any of Jimmy's friends spent on fine-tuning their builds, but things like that make you spend at lot of time looking at that build. When it's done you'll know it inside out.
hilarious that the 1st person he thinks about whose builds to replicate was joel when joel makes by far the biggest builds of all his friends. just imagine how long it would take for jimmy to even try to replicate joel's builds considering the grand scale of them
This just became building practice with Tim 😂 Sausage “You didn’t even go through the tutorial. You block for blocked it. No way. You’re getting better!” was actually so wholesome though
I mean, the first was a copyright war and the other 2 were never causal builds but had dedicated tutorials, it is easier recognising it because between building it 5 times for recording and the huge times video editing can take... they have been staring at them for many many hours. There would have been a better chance with just a house from a village they made.
Well maybe, but also, I can promise you as a builder and not a KZclipr in the slightest, I could easily recognise any build I've ever made. Because what you have to realise, is even if it's not a video, or a main part of a build, it's a) something you're almost guaranteed to walk past a dozen times and study from a dozen angles while doing other builds around it, and also, effort goes into every build, time spent thinking about block pallets and shapes and texturing and detailing. So even if it only takes half an hour or something, you'll still have spent half an hour thinking about it intently and studying it closely for any ways to improve or change it.
Jimmy thinking that any of his builder friends would possibly forget a build they made themselves is hilarious. Those builds are basically their children. You don't forget the time and effort to build your child of spruce and diorite and blood.
This just shows how good jimmy’s building skills are, that Minecraft creator can recognise it from years after seeing it last, even though he built it from a still image
If you do a part 2, you should build your friend's builds but then a different person sees it. EX: Build a Joel build but show Grian. See if they can get it.
That's a good one. Like that Mumbo video where he had friends voice over instead. I like that. Edit: Who should he ask to do voicing? For me personally, Rendog or Cleo.
I may not be a minecraft builder, but I do build in the sims! I’d recognise one of my buildings anywhere! I also draw, and I’d DEFINITELY recognise one of my art pieces no matter what. I may have awful memory but the artist memory, with the stuff you’ve created, is a whole other deal. It’s like that second stomach people claim to have for desert. It never gets full
As a Minecraft builder who has memory problems. I definitely would also remember all my builds. Especially because I do everything in survival so it takes more time.
You should try it again (maybe with different people?) but instead of reproducing EXACTLY what you see, take a little more creative freedom and maybe change the color pallet to throw them off. Also recreating great builds is a good way to pick up a trick or two for your own builds in the future.
What if, you attempted to complete redstone with a couple redstoners you know? Try to learn different redstone contraptions from some of your friends like Pixlriffs, Impulse, Tango, and (maybe) mumbo! Would absolutely love to see the struggle and ideas out of this. Could be an interesting side quest from building!
It didn't go as badly as Possible. One or more of them could have sued you for copyright infringement and kicked you out of empires and having that entire friend group block you. You might have had to build an exiled shack out in the middle of nowhere.
Sausage is right you never forget what you build I still remember when Hardcore was first added to the game I built in a Ravine and placed glass over the top and put down water on the glass so it was like a River, then I built a really bad cobblestone Tower and I had my Animals inside the tower, it was bad but I will always remember it.
I’m actually not sure, if I would be able to recognise all of my Minecraft builds I’ve ever done - not that there’s really much, but I would probably still need some time to get a look at it closely before I could say if this was actually a build I did or if it wasn’t xD And the idea for your build sounds really cool =)
As weird as it may sound, building something in Minecraft is like having a child. You might not have seen it for years, but you can always recognise it rather quickly.
What Sausage says is true. One can remember every house they built- I remember my first build... 2013, in the middle of a spruce forest- it looked something like Patrick the Star's house, except it was made entirely of Diamond ore blocks. I put down a bed, and a crafting table. And then proceeded to make a dog army. 17 dogs.
for next video, you could try to recreate your friends real life bedrooms, setups, houses or stream spaces in a minecraft build and see if they notice!
the great thing about this is that Jimmy will get better as a builder by mimicking his friends. it's how artists learn how to draw. makes me excited for jimmy!
would love a repeat of this but with grian and joel builds. Or better yet invite Grian onto a world where you complete the backside of a few of his bases and see if he notices they are completed
I love Jimmy...he killed me when Gem asked if he didn't remember his builds, his answer was a resounding no. And no one can hear Fwhips laugh and not love it. Just saying.
I think it's great. You might not have succeeded in tricking anyone, but you highlighted that creators recognize their work immediately and will notice when someone else steals a build for their own channel.
Every builder have their pwn recognizable style. Gem and Fwhip almost have the same style (and you can still distinguish their builds) . Sausages, however, has this very detailed style, HE LIKES barrels and campfires.
As a Minecraft builder, it makes sense they remembered immediately. I mean if you spend hours trying to construct something, you’re bound to remember that project for a long time.
you should try and make your friends do the interior of the house they built a few videos ago, but without talking or communicating with each other in anyway, and they all have assigned rooms.
Katherine had a video where she and her friends had to dry minecraft mobs and whoever was closest got points. It would be hilarious to see the guys do the same.
When he picked the builds I was literally thinking "If I remember the series in which Fwhip built this house, he definitely will." Same thing with Gem. I remember watching the series when she built that windmill and was thinking "Jimmy, you gotta pick a different build bud."
I have a really scuffed memory, but there's just something about minecraft builds, I think I would always recognise every last one, even the little temp bases in the sides of hills. One idea for trying to trick people though, is to put it in a completely different biome. eg mountain to riverside desert, flat plaines to mesa hillside, swamp to iceberg.
You took distinctive builds. I mean, the most colourful house of examples of fwhip's builds, Mythical Sausage's dangling house - I mean how many of his builds are dangling?, and a windmill from Gem when she has a plethora of cottages that might have melded into one in her memories. And two years back? I haven't even played Minecraft in two years and I remember every one of my builds as far back as 2014. Once you think of a concept, design it, build it, and live in it for a while, how can you not remember it? It's like your childhood home.
When you make something out of your own head, when you scrutinize every line and color, when you notice everything that doesn't match your vision and you wish you could've done better, you never forget it. You will recognize it the moment you see it again.
Can confirm, there is a house I built in an old friends server that I haven’t seen for close to a decade and I can probably build it block for block. Finding a similar valley to build it in would be the hard part
I have built GeminiTays windmill many many times and this didn't even have the diagonal part to it. She knew anyway. The biggest joke is that is how Jimmy learns to build. so sweet
Minecraft builds get stolen so often, I’m sure a lot of the top builders are used to checking whether random builds they see on social media are theirs. I know I’ve seen FWhip call people out on Twitter for taking credit for his builds before.
I love how instead of just immediately going "That's my build", every single one of them started off being kinda sly about it like "Hmm, this looks familiar..."
Even on worlds from five years ago that I never took a picture of and deleted I can remember those builds when you put passion into what you don't forget.
**sniggering in builder** Yea... You might not have thought this one through. It would have been more challenging if you have shown them each other's builds and told them to guess who's design it was. Enjoyed the video though :)
as an artist i remember most of my art (except from when i was a small child) so its probably the same for builders, its just something you created and it sticks with you
Bants aside, Jimmy has improved his building. I (re)started Minecraft about the same time Empires SMP s1 started and started to learn how to build around the same time
Get someone to start a survival world with you, and criticise every single action of theirs, e.g saying they are chopping wood wrong The more experienced the player, the better
If he had done builds that were more obscure, stuff they didn’t live in, something they built once and never looked at again, etc. I think he would have had a much better chance of fooling them.😂
for the next video try to make joel and grian be nice to you (they cant be mean in the slightest) while you do stuff that you know will make them make fun of you
Sososososo good
Lmao just tell him to play as they watch, they will always find stuff to make fun of him for
lmao love this and idk but I think he kinda did it
Yes awesome idea
omg 😂 yes
should have tried grian. he has the memory of a goldfish
True he cant even play roblox
@Nermin Sakr hes from hermitcraft
nah, wouldnt have worked, he woulda recognized it by the missing back
plus hes been making videos since the dawn of time
Please don't disrespect gold fishs by comparing them to grians's memory
its true, joel would have known.
Not to mention I don't think Jimmy would be able to recreate the building the picture by just looking at it
LOL!
Jimmy wanting to prank his friends but feels like he was the one getting pranked
@SolidarityI think if you modernized the builds with the newer building blocks it would help hide the “stealing part.”
Lol
@Shreya tries to animate lol
@Shreya tries to animate LOL
Welcome to his entire channel/j
Love how it didn't take Fwhip not even 10 second to look at it and know it was his, hilarious!
Congratulations your not even the first person to steal this build look at you!! 🤣🤣🤣
I think they all instantly knew, Sausage and Gem just played along a bit longer than Fwhip.
Today we have learned why smallishbeans builds such massive things: no one wants to put in the hours to steal them
yes genius
you just made my day with this comment XD
True xD
I love the fact they are all like "you didn't even watch the tutorial?! Why not?!"
hahaha!!
Jim's mistake was coping everything, he should have mixed up the colour pallettes and that might of helped a little.
No that wouldn't have worked. You're overestimating Jimmy's building skills a little.
I felt like he could've pulled it off if he built something super generic. Not like, a hanging cliffside house
Read the title
It wouldn't help
yea but the whole point of the video is that the builds need to be identical
it’s hilarious how all of them were sarcastic at first
🤣🤣
I think we can all agree that Timmy has gotten so much better at building over the years! Great job Tim ❤🎉
@Solidarity thank you! This made my day

this may make a good podcast or livestream event as well!
@Cospaws lol, not really for this series, but just a good mini series he could do outside of this one. Was more so a thought since he wants to get better at building and often invites builder friends for videos anyways.
This is too wholesome for this series 😆
I think your friends should recreate some of your builds and see if you can remember which ones were yours and which ones were not yours...lol

Joel builds big to compensate his irl height lmao
This just became building practice with Tim 😂

@Rajesh Gajbhiye can’t forget about griefers. “Why did you blow up my child”
@Kittyoverlooord and a Huge one
That is gonna be one interesting looking child
Straight facts
A minecraft builder never forgets any of their projects Jim. That's the most basic builder code.
You are correct in every way
#BuilderForLife
Next top comment: Defeat the Ender dragon with upside down screen and colour blind texture pack.
Bet
Yes
Yes, it will probably take a really long time
Vouch
fWhip’s “mhm” was all it took, and I knew that he was onto the scheme LOL
I love it that Sausage flat on tells Jimmy that he won’t fool Gem!
This just shows how good jimmy’s building skills are, that Minecraft creator can recognise it from years after seeing it last, even though he built it from a still image
Next time: pick buildings like 5+ years ago, have them look at multiple builds to recognie their own, change the color palettes. Fun to watch!
If you do a part 2, you should build your friend's builds but then a different person sees it. EX: Build a Joel build but show Grian. See if they can get it.
"you minecraft builders are a special breed" thats my favorite quote from Jim
and it is true
To quote from Hbomb:
"I see a lot of similarities in how you both play."
Same xD
I can tell he was proud of building from a picture and not the tutorial lol
Idea for next episode: convince another youtuber/streamer who you haven't worked with before to join you for an episode!
Oh that would be so cool
Great idea. It’s always fun to see new collaborations.
this gotta be the next episode!
This is honestly how you get better at building: look at what others have done, and try to recreate what worked for them
To be honest Jimmy you are getting really good at building. I knew they wouldn't forget their own build.Great video.
From stream
I love it great and original!! Next time, do crazy stuff , give you friends no context, and get them to narrate it
That's a good one.
Like that Mumbo video where he had friends voice over instead. I like that.
Edit: Who should he ask to do voicing?
For me personally, Rendog or Cleo.
@Autobot_Tracks08 cool!
Hello, I remember you from the stream!
this is probably actually a really, like seriously good learning experience for Jimmy.
Idea for next Top Comment Video:
Minecraft Manhunt but everyone has a random origin from the origins mod. Just imagining that sounds hilarious!
I really can't see builders forgetting about their builds honestly
a builder is very proud of the work theyve done and shared it to youtube/social media because that project is their baby. they will never forget. lol
As a Minecraft builder who has memory problems. I definitely would also remember all my builds. Especially because I do everything in survival so it takes more time.
This was a good idea but as a builder… there’s no chance they would have forgotten lol
You should link the tutorials they made so we can support them!
Fantastic video Jimmy! For your next top comment video You should play normal Minecraft BUT Mimic your friends without them knowing.
Building from a picture alone is tough to do, and it flexes building muscles. Way to go!
You should try it again (maybe with different people?) but instead of reproducing EXACTLY what you see, take a little more creative freedom and maybe change the color pallet to throw them off. Also recreating great builds is a good way to pick up a trick or two for your own builds in the future.

Would absolutely love to see the struggle and ideas out of this. Could be an interesting side quest from building!
On theme with this video, get some friends to take some of your old builds and spruce them up and see if you can guess who did each one.
You should let your friends make escape rooms for you to try and survive!
Doesn’t Lizzie already do that tho? And Scott too
It didn't go as badly as Possible. One or more of them could have sued you for copyright infringement and kicked you out of empires and having that entire friend group block you. You might have had to build an exiled shack out in the middle of nowhere.
when you put so much work into your creations you always remember what it looks like.

Get Kirsty to narrate your next top comment episode
"You got it more accurate than the last guy who copied it" XD I laughed out loud at Fwhip's sarcasm xD
for next video, you could try to recreate your friends real life bedrooms, setups, houses or stream spaces in a minecraft build and see if they notice!
the great thing about this is that Jimmy will get better as a builder by mimicking his friends. it's how artists learn how to draw. makes me excited for jimmy!
The luck of picking two builds that were already memorably stolen!
would love a repeat of this but with grian and joel builds. Or better yet invite Grian onto a world where you complete the backside of a few of his bases and see if he notices they are completed
The best thing about this prompt is that Jimmy is going to improve just from copying these builds, styles, and little detailing techniques.
I love your vids Jim, yeh amount of creativity you put in them is fantastic!! Keep it up!!
Jimmy: Im Gonna Build This One, There’s NO Way He’s Going To Notice. 1 Minute Later… Fwhip: Oh Yeah, I BATTLED For That. Jimmy: oh… 🤠
Honestly it's much more funny to see you get so flabbergasted at their keen memories than it would have been to prank them XD This was so fun!
Right? I still remember builds from a decade ago.
you should try and make your friends do the interior of the house they built a few videos ago, but without talking or communicating with each other in anyway, and they all have assigned rooms.
You have to respect that he's still somehow hopeful after the first two
See if I had £1 for every time I’ve heard Jim say “I’m not a builder”, I’d be rich!😂😂
Katherine had a video where she and her friends had to dry minecraft mobs and whoever was closest got points. It would be hilarious to see the guys do the same.
When he picked the builds I was literally thinking "If I remember the series in which Fwhip built this house, he definitely will."
Same thing with Gem. I remember watching the series when she built that windmill and was thinking "Jimmy, you gotta pick a different build bud."
I love how Jimmy thinks they will forget the builds they made.
he should have just gone on their channels and sorted to oldest videos, google is just gonna show him more used/ popular builds haha
You will recognize it the moment you see it again.
you really are getting better at building jimmy :) who knows maybe in empires s3 you will actualy make all your own builds XD
haha!!
Idea: get your friends to join your secretly modded world and see how long until they find out!
I LOVE that. Sounds fun!
Can verify as a builder this is accurate. Also as a builder do you know how hard it is to come up with something unique at this point?
Awesome Idea! These builders must have done 100's of small builds like this, yet they recognize them instantly :P Can't wait for the next one!
Should have done it with different colors and seen if they noticed as quickly.
Even on worlds from five years ago that I never took a picture of and deleted I can remember those builds when you put passion into what you don't forget.
Lmao Jimmy actually building the backs of these builds without knowing what they looked like is why he isn't on hermit craft isn't it 😂😂😂
Three years is not that long of a time for someone to forget something 😂
I like that sausage still compliments you in the end, what a guy!
Loved this idea!! Great video!!
The fact that Jimmy cant steal grians build, because if he tryes to look around, he will find no back🤣
**sniggering in builder** Yea... You might not have thought this one through. It would have been more challenging if you have shown them each other's builds and told them to guess who's design it was. Enjoyed the video though :)
as an artist i remember most of my art (except from when i was a small child) so its probably the same for builders, its just something you created and it sticks with you
I love how you looked at Joel's builds and couldn't find any small ones and went "nope"
Bants aside, Jimmy has improved his building. I (re)started Minecraft about the same time Empires SMP s1 started and started to learn how to build around the same time
These builders have impressive memories! They remember builds they made *YEARS* ago, meanwhile I can't even remember what I ate two *DAYS* ago.
That 1st one where he had to claim copyright was insane, never thought about that sort of thing happening. I'm sure this happens alot too.
what happened who copied him
Thinking back, wasn’t it Gem, who “helped” fix the cobblestone box that Jimmy built in Legacy…?
Get someone to start a survival world with you, and criticise every single action of theirs, e.g saying they are chopping wood wrong
The more experienced the player, the better
I loved this episode. You should do more like this! I want to see if there is someone you could get.
If he had done builds that were more obscure, stuff they didn’t live in, something they built once and never looked at again, etc. I think he would have had a much better chance of fooling them.😂
That's the thing with artists Jimmy; we never forget forget our babies.
*Never*
