As a goalie, this is totally a nightmare but a goal I wouldn't regret failing to save. It has the right amount of strength, angle and curve to make it looks straight at first and then curve near the end. Truly magical
Carloses' goal is the biggest overkill goal in the history of football, seriously doubt that anyone will ever beat this shot in it's brute force, distance and accuracy that it has.
Roberto Carlos's goal is most definitely my favorite ALL time free shot goal.. it's just insane how far away it was and how hard he kicked it and with freaking pinpoint accuracy.. insane
This goal by Roberto Carlos is more then just a curve penalty goal, this is the hardest precision long distance goal ever, it’s also very accurate. This to me is the goal of the century.
@bnicoletti Not even Roberto Carlos lol. He spent the rest of his career wasting free kicks in an attempt to replicate that goal. I remember the frustration of seeing him be allowed to kick those things, knowing full well nothing would come of it.
@TheDonelliX what about every other positive thing? Like, being the only country to never be eliminated in group stage? 5 world cups? but we decide to focus on the only bad thing.
That Roberto Carlos goal is my favorite goal of all time. I remember watching it live as a kid and I think it contributed to my falling in love with the game. 😍
That last goal..... The distance from where he came.... Amazing how someone is able to judge the distance exactly right to end up in such a way to deliver a powerful kick and have the ball travel exactly where it should go. I mean: I have tried it myself obviously, as we all did. Placing the ball somewhere on the field. Backing up to create a lot of distance. And GO! And somehow i always end up with the wrong foot at the ball..... I am a right foot kinda guy, and i always end up with the left foot being the one that should kick the ball. Or, i am able to use my right foot, but i am either just a bit too far away or i am too close to the ball to deliver a really good kick.... That goal, seeing how the player approached the ball from great distance and delivering the exact amount of power and control/angle/input, it is just amazing.
@bertjesklotepino I'm sure Roberto would have at least something useful to say, but you two are overanalyzing it. He tried this in game probably hundred times, it went in like this only once, and he tried it in practice probably 10 or hundred thousand times and it goes in like this once in a lifetime. Maybe If he was judging distance better, counting steps like some players, maybe he would have scored more goals from free kicks than he did, who knows. But on this one, for sure everything turned out to be perfect :)
if a pro player can explain how to judge such a distance the right way..... how to know with which foot to start the approach.... etc etc..... it would be much appreciated. Unable to figure it out. I tried putting the ball down on a spot, and backing up with controlled steps. Counting them. And i still end up in a wrong position when i go for the kick. Surely there is some way of knowing how to approach this problem, right>?
@Alex Hanson I understand what you're saying, but if you take that moment at 2:02, but start a few frames before he kicks it and select 0.25 speed. Then pause unpause frame by frame until you get to right before he makes the kick. You will be able to get it paused on a clear, crisp frame where you can clearly see the entire ball crossed the out of bounds line. It takes a few times to pause unpause pause to land on the perfect frame where it's crisp and not blurry, but when you do, it's as clear as day. I wish I was able to take a screenshot of it and post it as a comment.
Without an angle down the line, you just can't know. There is one frame at 2:02 where the full silhouette of the ball is just beyond the line, but I still think it's close enough to be called in. Look at similar shots in modern games with higher framerates to see what I mean, the Spain-Japan game last week for example.
If you slow down the video, you can clearly see that the ball was completely out of bounds when he kicked it. As nice as it was, it shouldn't have counted!
I was expecting Roberto Carlos to be #1, but I didn't expect it to be this goal... I thought it was going to be that amazing full blast running kick he did almost at the corner of the field right at the line that curved into the goal. That for me is #1 of all time.
golden age of brazilian football was from 1958 until around 1985... after that, brazilians like me, it's hard to be satisfied. We follow the games and rejoice, but we find the football presented by our selection, since the 90s, very weak. Some names stand out, of course, but nothing that makes that nostalgic feeling of older times shine... Ronaldinho Gaúcho, the sorcerer; Roberto Carlos, the cannon; Ronaldo, the phenomenon; currently Neymar, the boy Ney... they are good names... but nothing compared to the selection of Pelé, the king; Mané Garrincha and company... the documentary about Pelé's life is worth knowing a little about what football is as an art, something that Brazil hasn't presented to the world for some time. Especially after 2002... our games have been terrible, unfortunately, as it is a real joy for my people.
Roberto Carlos is the Legend, what a magnificent and fascinating goal it was at the end by him, the most precise curve goal I have ever seen, something which you cannot believe. Incredible👍
Going back a bit, but Liam Brady’s goal against spurs in 78/79 was goal of the season: outrageous skills. Also Ronnie Whelan’s curler for Liverpool won them the League Cup in ‘82.
Great choices, that #1 Roberto Carlos remains my favorite free kick of all time, though there were couple others in this video that were just as worthy. Pleasure to watch. 👍
Faltou o gol do Nelinho na mesma copa.
I remember seeing that live on television. 3rd place play off. It was outside of the right foot if I remember correctly. Great goal but not in the Roberto Carlos league.
Quaresma with 2 Trivela's in there. He was the master of that and was probably more talented than Ronaldo when they both came onto the scene, but Ronaldo's desire and work ethic took him to be one of the greatest. I used to love watching Quaresma play when he was on form.
The goaltender in the green/yellow jersey's' expression is priceless. He's just looking out to the rest of his teammates and saying "Are you guys expecting me to save that? Did you not see the curved trajectory of that shot?"
The margin of error when shooting from a long distance is very high. I'm sure these players failed more often than they succeeded in scoring those goals.
I remember watching Roberto Carlos' goal live on television and was like 😳🤯😶 what in the world did I just witness? *Space time continuum?!* 🤔 And of course I just sat there afterwards too afraid to blink because I was certain I would miss something spectacular.
I've seen the game France - Brazil 1997 live in TV when I was 9 years old. At that time I was a total football afficienato, my interest has declined when I discovered Music for me, but everytime I see this goal from Roberto Carlos I feel my childish passion for football and I imagine myself playing outside with my friends and in my team while trying to emulate that shoot and some others as well. These were good times. Then football was a very important part of my life. Till now, the best goal ever and it won't change imho. :)
With something like this you know Carlos will be no. 1 of the list. So as I watched this I was comparing them all to Carlos and thinking that some of them are just as good. But then when I see Carlos’s goal for the nth time I get reminded that Carlos’s goal really really is on a higher level.
#16 was magic! Looks like it was heading straight for the goalie then curved away at last second.. Goalie is dumfounded.. Easily top 5 that one!!
👏👏👏👏
Hating on the asianz
As a goalie, this is totally a nightmare but a goal I wouldn't regret failing to save. It has the right amount of strength, angle and curve to make it looks straight at first and then curve near the end. Truly magical
The Roberto Carlos goal at the end is the greatest goal I’ve ever seen. To strike the ball that hard, and have it be accurate is truly impressive.
@jlcgu11 there are many factors that have to be right.. humidity and atmospheric pressure make a difference to the physics.
👏👏👏👏👏
O melhor gol foi o do Nelinho
did you see the "impossible goal" Chile v/s Uruguay 24/03/1985
Not sure if it's my favourite all time, but definitely worth my top 5 :) Absolute ballistic perfection.
Roberto Carlos has the Best Goal in Soccer History💯🔥
@Quandale dingle he has a million subs
Yo you’re verified?
Carloses' goal is the biggest overkill goal in the history of football, seriously doubt that anyone will ever beat this shot in it's brute force, distance and accuracy that it has.

@natanrodrigues: Espetacular! ❤🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Saudade desse time incrível 😔
@Mário Muraoka Júnior E o Rogério Ceni
The last goal had an impressive curve, but what surprised me the most was the distance from which it was shot and the speed at which it was going.
👏👏👏👏

'FREE KICK'!!
considering the distance and that the goal keeper didn't even jumped, means it was really something special
…& to this day, Barthez doesn't know whether to cry or wind his watch.

greatest free kick goal of all time then embraced by the greatest talent of all time Ronaldo Fenomeno..

@TheDonelliX 9/11 Usa, never forget :)
@TheDonelliX And now where are they?
@TheDonelliX what about every other positive thing? Like, being the only country to never be eliminated in group stage? 5 world cups? but we decide to focus on the only bad thing.
@TheDonelliX .
Seleção de gols incríveis. Lembraram até do Nelinho!

Hello there 👋
Último lance do jogo.
.
Roberto Carlos really deserves Rank#1 in most amazing curving goals ever....!!!!!!!!!
😀👍

#14 by Silva was criminally underrated, one of the most contested shots on the list with perfect body control
@G3NK5T42 I see the frame, I mentioned it in the last comment, the angle is bad. You've gotta look at similar VAR situations today.
@Alex Hanson I understand what you're saying, but if you take that moment at 2:02, but start a few frames before he kicks it and select 0.25 speed.
I was expecting Roberto Carlos to be #1, but I didn't expect it to be this goal... I thought it was going to be that amazing full blast running kick he did almost at the corner of the field right at the line that curved into the goal. That for me is #1 of all time.
@Benjamim Obrigado hirmao
GRACIAS.

I can do this and betting I do proper training for couple weeks may be 20 days
Roberto Carlos goal unmatched. Best goal in the history of football❤

Longa distancia? Viram jogar o canhao da Vila Belmiro, o Pepe? Folha seca, viram o Didi jogar?

@Paulo Valentim Chiarelli obrigado...é 78 mesmo! Valeu!

Man that Roberto Carlos' goal really brings back fond memories. That was the Golden Era of Brazilian football. Why isn't there any Messi highlight?

I remember seeing that live on television. 3rd place play off. It was outside of the right foot if I remember correctly. Great goal but not in the Roberto Carlos league.
Esse ultimo gol
Do Roberto Carlos foi incrível
That Roberto Carlos goal might be the most impressive goal ever scored. Like ever.
Roberto Carlos's goal is still the best goal, truly astonishing no matter how many times I see it I am still mesmerized.
Fantastic goals. Thanks for the selection and the memories revealed. 🙂🌞👋
[BRA] Não existe gol como o do Roberto Carlos.
No matter how many good goals in football history but the Roberto Carlos goal is best free kicks goal ever ♥️♥️🇳🇵

Of course #1 would be Roberto Carlos, that shot was insane!
I am so happy I got to see it live on tv when he made it.

Esse gol do Roberto Carlos é inesquecível. Que chute forte...
The goal keepers' expressions when they realize their beaten is priceless 🤗... awesome memories!
That #1 goal is absolutely insane when you factor in the distance and everyone in the way. I mean, wtf.
Quaresma with 2 Trivela's in there. He was the master of that and was probably more talented than Ronaldo when they both came onto the scene, but Ronaldo's desire and work ethic took him to be one of the greatest. I used to love watching Quaresma play when he was on form.
That is true. In terms of raw talent, it was really magical to see Quaresma play at his top form.
Cual e o numero do gol do Nelinho? Gracias
The goaltender in the green/yellow jersey's' expression is priceless. He's just looking out to the rest of his teammates and saying "Are you guys expecting me to save that? Did you not see the curved trajectory of that shot?"
I can still remember that Roberto Carlos goal. I actually fell out of my chair. What a time, what a game.
Epic Legendary Goal from the Master Roberto Carlos...
Yes goal scored by Carlos just unbelievable incredible outstanding out of this World.
I really loved the goal from Pele, great for featuring his talent
I was watching the game with the #1 goal live! I'll never forget that goal by Roberto Carlos!
The one and only Roberto Carlos. Fantastic goal.
Roberto Carlos bons tempos 👍👍👍
#8 was really one of the best. Right up there with #1. To flick a shot with the outside of the foot at that pace was incredible.
12 final offer
How about 11
@Cibis or 10
You mean #14...?
Tanto efecto que tienen esos tiros, impresionante y hermoso. 🙌🏼❤️
The good old days, when there were long shots! Today everyone wants to carry the ball into the goal.
That's because football is about about stats now, you're statistically more likely to score inside the box than the half way line 🙄
The margin of error when shooting from a long distance is very high. I'm sure these players failed more often than they succeeded in scoring those goals.
@Nauj1017lol exactly
Isnt the point to make the goal? Regardless of how its done? Wether its a long shot or at 2 inches?
Genuinely curious at this logic?
@Rabbi Shmuel Shekelbaum because now are less players with such amazing artistic football skills.
Roberto Carlos. ..lo más Grande. 💪🙏🙌👏👏👏👏👏👏🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
roberto carlos to druta ciagnie
Buenos amigos .respeto
It had to be an number 1👍
Roberto Carlos is unbeatable legend even so many years ago
I remember watching Roberto Carlos' goal live on television and was like 😳🤯😶 what in the world did I just witness? *Space time continuum?!* 🤔
And of course I just sat there afterwards too afraid to blink because I was certain I would miss something spectacular.
Brazilians are so impressive and creative
Thanks 😏
I cried when I saw that free kick from Roberto Carlos
Masterpiece
😂😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Carlos goal was so amazing and perfect… it is unbelievable….
Roberto Carlos goals are treat to watch, although long time ago but still touches Heart.
