Kevin Durant's blatantly out of bounds "save" was super infuriating, but as a Texan it felt real good to see James Harden respond with a game winning 3 over Draymond Green and Klay Thompson.

Definitely. Especially since his foot started in-bounds and kinda rotated and slid to *just barely* out of bounds. I'd hardly call it egregious.
Also worth noting that out of the 50 or so people standing in the front two rows of that side of the court, *only* 5 saw it. 10% isn't exactly a consensus.
Meanwhile, anyone with eyes can see that KD was clearly out of bounds for a solid half hour before "saving" that ball.

I'm so glad you brought up the time the REF fouled a player and then blamed it on his defender. Even in some of the egregious no-calls there's at least some plausible deniability that the ref wasn't looking at Giannis' feet or whatever. But it's impossible to collide with a big NBA player and not feel the contact. Crawford 100% knew he was to blame, but penalized the Pistons anyways.

Beautiful video as always Jxmy!!! I do want to make this point as a first year junior high/high school official, it’s whole another different game when you officiate! If you criticize, also be the first one to compliment as well because, unless you’ve officiated before, then you don’t realize what it takes in the .1 second you need to make a call/throw a flag!
These are missed calls and huge ones for sure, ESPECIALLY for professionals. But officiating slander, especially from those that don’t realize what it’s like to be an official, is the reason why there’s an official shortage in America that leads to younger generations not being able to play.

This NBA season has had some pretty weird calls in it. The rules still need to be adjusted too but the calls themselves are probably more important since your decision could be incredibly important.

@Zach Martell That's why it needs to change. Add more refs use cameras have people watch plays as it happens and give out the calls. NBA has a lot of money so why settle for "it's hard and we lack refs". If something clearly isn't working properly you need to change it for the betterment of the viewing experience but unfortunately they seem to not care.

After watching , the Netflix untold stories' series , and hearing about the REF Tim Donaghy AND the FBI investigation about gambling the mob and how the NBA commissioner just basically shut the investigation down , the entire game came into question with me . The way the calls are made in pivotal games comes down to the fact of weather the REFS likes the player or who/team the commissioner wants to win.

@Are Two Dee Too there is no corruption. The nba is a business, players and refs are employees in a performance centred around basketball. Sometimes they fuck up and fall over, that is obviously a random occurrence. Losing teams getting every call to close gaps in games is not random. Happens nearly every game.
Matches are manipulated in many ways via bullshit calls, most noticeable when prolonging finals series. Nba uses all the stats to predict how calls will affect games; early foul calls on a player who averages 30ppg lower their minutes and the teams effectiveness by x amount.

    • Are Two Dee Too
Are Two Dee Too Ай бұрын

@mona lisa Oh, I'm not arguing against that. The long term argument is at least circumstantial evidence for corruption at the highest level. But the arguments above that this specific play was done on purpose to extend the game are almost as ridiculous as the play itself... This one was not on purpose, even a ref as incompetent/corrupt as this one would have done it at least slightly more subtly had it been on purpose. Either that or he's a 4D grand master and one of the best physical comedy actors I've ever seen. Your choice.

@Are Two Dee Too How does a ref, with Joey's record including such idiotic calls, keep a career for 40 years? You think nba does not notice all these dumb ass calls? Or you think they know but they also know an extra game here and there means more cash and Joey makes an easy scapegoat.

    • sutho

There was definitely corruption and fixing but I really wouldn't recommend that documentary as the "sources" are the criminals themselves who have a lot to gain from blaming others/underselling their role. Gaming The Game is a better sourced, investigative book that goes through everything, and the author has publicly questioned heaps of Donaghy's claims in the doco.
