So is this by the same guy who made the history of the universe and history of Japan videos? Because if not this is definitely not original. Edit: just checked the video description and he even mentions the guy who’s style he is using here.
That statement is a sobering reminder of the negative aspects of human nature. Throughout history, we have seen many instances of war breaking out when societies have reached new heights of prosperity and stability. This is a sad commentary on the fact that even when people are living comfortable lives, there can still be a desire for conflict and destruction. It highlights the need for individuals and societies to continually work towards creating a more peaceful world, even when they are at their most prosperous. Rather than allowing prosperity to breed complacency and a thirst for war, it's important to use it as an opportunity to build bridges and foster greater understanding between people of different cultures and backgrounds.
Funfact: The German General Paul von Lettow-Vorbeck held out for 4 years with 14.000 soldiers (3000 Germans and 11.000 Africans or Askaris) against 300.000 British soldiers despite being cut off from any supply line. He did this by being a brilliant strategist who moved his troops quickly and efficiently but also by treating his African troops as equals to the other Germans. During the Spanish Flu, when rations dwindled, only few soldiers deserted since they had all become so loyal and attached to von Lettow-Vorbeck. Decades later, in 1964 when von Lettow-Vorbeck died, the West-German Bundestag (parliament) decided to give back dated pay to all the surviving Askaris. So, a banker was flown to Mwanza at Lake Victoria who set up a provisional cashier‘s office. 350 former soldiers returned but only few of them could present documents, which von Lettow-Vorbeck had handed them out by the end of the war, to prove that they had served. So instead, others showed their uniforms to prove their service but there were still many left with no evidence. Then, the cashier had an idea: He gave all the men a broomstick and ordered them to perform the Prussian/German drill like they would‘ve done with a weapon. Not a single one of them failed the test and they were given their pay.
Wow, what an impressive and inspiring story of General Paul von Lettow-Vorbeck and his troops! Holding out for 4 years against overwhelming odds with such limited resources and manpower is truly remarkable. And the fact that he treated his African troops as equals, despite the time and culture, is truly commendable. It's heartwarming to hear that the loyalty and attachment his troops felt towards him lasted even through the Spanish Flu and beyond. It's also impressive that the West-German Bundestag recognized their contributions by giving them back-dated pay, even if it took a while to prove their service. The story of the cashier giving the surviving Askaris a broomstick and testing them with a drill to prove their service is truly innovative and a testament to the strength of the bond between General von Lettow-Vorbeck and his troops.
@Андрија Спасић There were remarkable efforts to either avoid war completely or at the very least reduce it to a local conflict between Austria-Hungary and Serbia. Primitive means of communication plus military secrecy (cough, Moltke, cough) squashed those efforts. I think if the war were to be delayed for enough time, a large-scale conflict would have been avoided.
Not taking a shot at this video, but I remember when it came out, I thought it was really good. But after watching “pig wars” I can’t believe how far he’s come in quality. He’s more enthusiastic in his speaking, his humor is consistent without getting too stale, and just the overall way he delivers the information is so much better.
i saw a american movie the movie is in english where it tells of german soldiers during world war 1 they were fighting in trenches in occupied france they were off duty swimming when they saw girls they went up to the girls and spoke to them in french. the german soldier saves a foreign soldier fighting in the trenches i do not know what country he was from at the end of the movie the german soldier telling the story gets shot and dies i do not know what movie was that i forgot the name of the movie
@Dillon Crowe He spends too much time on his videos (often half a year), and instead of remakes like this one (not to mention this isn't even a bad video) he could invest his time and energy on new projects. If he hired more staff and somehow uploads videos 2-4 weeks then this wouldn't be much of an issue but currently it is.
It’s amazing to see how he managed to maintain the style of his first video to this day but still manages to improve upon it in the form of more detailed animation, better humor and voice acting, editing etc. It’s truly amazing how you can watch all videos this dude has made in a day easily and you still feel like rewatching them every now and then. Sure the wait for something new is long but you can always be assured that what you get will be a video you can rewatch over and over again (quality over quantity). Content creating at its best.
While it's true that he went back out in public after the failed attempt on his life, it's also important to note that he and those around him likely had a false sense of security. In hindsight, it's easy to see that the failed attempt was a warning of the larger tragedy that was to come. However, at the time, it's understandable that they may have felt that the danger had passed and that it was safe to resume their daily activities.
@Noah Ramey Yes it would have had a different outcome but major powers in Europe were trying to find excuses to try out their new weapons(like germans) to conquer others for their own interests. This is an undeniable fact. Wars were more common back in the day as well and it was a matter of someone invented the atomic bomb to stop all major wars. Which is what happened in the end.
I like the theory that the assassin was eating a sandwich before the archduke came. Can you imagine hearing about your friend’s failed assassination attempt, then go out to have lunch at your local sandwich shop, only to come out and see the duke right there.
The thought of the assassin being in the middle of eating a sandwich, only to suddenly be faced with the opportunity to carry out the assassination, is a fascinating contrast. It adds a layer of unexpected randomness to the event and makes you wonder what was going through the assassin's mind at that moment. It's also interesting to think about the events that must have transpired after the failed attempt, with the assassin perhaps still clutching their sandwich as they were apprehended. The idea of someone going about their daily routine, only to be suddenly thrust into the midst of a historical event, is a sobering reminder of how quickly life can change.
@Angel_exe I think it's mostly because of the Emperor of Austria. After the assassination of Franz Ferdinand, Franz Josef I declared war on Serbia. ( I believe he should've not done that )
@Walden Nelson if it's true than he must of had the biggest decision making moment of his life. Either wait for his sandwich to arrive or to do his job and take all the credit.
when he talked about the trench warfare, it just sends chill to my body. So many men have to faced intense fear and died for nothing, maybe not even an inch of land gain for their death. Rest in peace soldiers. You all were born in a wrong time. May God bless your soul.
I have to write an essay about the conditions of the trench and the effects on the soldiers and it was awful just writing it out, knowing it was a real occurrence that hurt so many young men.
I always come back here after a new upload just to see how far he's come since this first video. It's truly amazing how far the animation quality has come along.
I can't tell you how much your videos have helped me. When I take in information I have a hard time not spacing out but your videos are so fun and humorous I get it in just one watch!
World War I was basically the biggest family feud episode in history. George V, Wilhelm and Tsar Nicholas we’re all first cousins. Crazy just how powerful some families truly are.
Yes, it is quite remarkable to think about how the close family ties between world leaders played a role in the events leading up to World War I. It just goes to show how personal relationships and power dynamics can have a major impact on global events and shape history.
@Xfighter04 honestly, only reason I had asked is just because it uses an older sounding mic compared to the other videos on the channel, plus I bet it would be better in possibly higher detail. But i will agree it is a great vid
I hold World War 1 dear to my heart, it always seems like some story you see in a dream. I can't believe something this old could still be one of the bloodiest events in history. Can't wait for Part 2, good luck with that.
I still can’t believe how far he’s came from this vid to his latest, I’m so proud of him fr. I love watching the old videos for when I sleep it’s so calming
i can't explain how much i despised history before i started watching your videos instead of reading from the book and now im having full conversations with my teacher about wars i love it
I never thought I'll ever use the videos on this channel as a homework research/resource for possible answers but here I am, doing exactly that 💀 _And honestly I'm not complaining, I'd love to learn history like this lmao-_
the fact that i wasnt in school for like 2 months while everyone was learning about ww1 and then the day I return, I learn that the day after we'll have a quiz regarding ww1 and then I start to panic, come across this channel (and this vid) and somehow pass my quiz which shows how informative and on point this channel is 💕
Thanks for creating this. So many others start waffling nonsence and start from part way through the war. This focus on how it started and progressed is a great bite sized way to learn.
hated history all my life and the way we study it as a subject at school. But gotta say that the way you explain it... it is just too interesting... i've never thought of watching history related videos but here i am, watching all of your videos
If you pay attention to how his style has changed, you see a lot. I'm comparing this to the Pig War, which as of this comment is the most recent. Anyway, the build up of drawn models means there's more in the way of original assets. Here, the faces of important figures weren't particularly detailed or unique, almost always just represented by photos. This does remind me of the style choice not to give most characters detailed faces, which reflects the faceless role the masses often play in history. Anyway, I also noticed the jokes and other visuals don't sync with the script as well. There are often pauses in talking and the general finished product is much less refined. Here the poor quality is actually used as part of the style, which I like. Obviously there's a length difference, which reflects a massive detail difference. This video is oversimplified, but more recent videos are quite the opposite, making the channel title situationally ironic. Still, it does make the overall point that history is always immensely complicated and no summary will be fully accurate, which is nice. I really like this channel's content. It does a great job balancing education with entertainment, and as someone with ADHD I really appreciate a way to learn about history that's easier for me. In a way it reminds me of Tierzoo, which while very different is also an entertaining and educational channel (if you haven't seen it, look it up). Anyway, long comment. Point probably made
Feeling like telling some things about a school trip I had, related to WW1 because I'm mostly passionate about WW1, and also why not Back in elementary school, in what we call "CM1" in the French grades (the grade before the last grade in elementary in the French school system), we went on a class trip to No Man's land, visiting a museum about WW1 and everything surrounding it. At the end of the museum, we even got someone to make a presentation about the muskets, the huge weaponry etc. It was pretty awesome. Walking on the path in No Man's land felt surreal. The grass, regrown. Everything was cleaned up, and nice; nothing like what I had remembered from history class with the atrocities... Imagining that millions of soldiers died here, infected with pests, poisonous water along the muddy floor is horrible to think about. There was wooden floor along the trenches. I even got a little postal card from the visit with a bookmark! We got to trade cards with classmates, I got lucky and managed to trade mine. Got a postal card of No Man's land and a picture of the trenches. We went to visit the graveyards too. Before going to No Man's land, we visited a few areas left as memorials, with shellshocks. There were signs with something along the lines of "There might still be ammo, watch your step" at the entrance. Saw a poppy field in the distance. This was probably the most memorable school trip I will have. I remember everything clearly. The uniforms I saw at the museum, the firearms, the poppy field, and the memorials. The hard, wooden floor of No Man's land as well as the few hundreds of gravestones we saw amongst the millions of other soldier's graves. I remember, at the museum we had a little "Flip-book sized" stack of papers together. It was a little quiz. As we progressed through the museum, we needed to fill it in with the correct information. Gosh, I miss the old days where we had school trips like these at our schools.
@Webby yeah but also his newer videos are on longer topics Ww1 didnt have as much, ig the russian revolution counts for a long topic but he already talked about it
@Webby yeah but also his newer videos are on longer topics Ww1 didnt have as much, ig the russian revolution counts for a long topic but he already talked about it
The shelling didn't have a large impact on morale. "Shell shocked" is a very old word for what we would no call "PTSD." What this means is people can handle getting shelled all day, but they cannot handle death and fear.
This was his first video ever on KZclip. Usually, people just start explain themselves, what their channel is about, etc. But this CHAD starts feeding our brains with useful information.
The American Dude what the hell? I'm chinese american and my parents gave me this name. He's not trying to be white, he's not doing anything, and he's just making a comment. But why would you call him white? You don't really know him, just him name. So it's bold to be making accusations about someone based on their names.
At 3:32, the image portrayed was actually a potential new uniform that France may have adopted if WWI hadn't broken out. To note, there is a green and yellow version of this uniform as well.
*Finally, someone speaks my language.* I've been searching for the summary of WWI and all the videos are like for experts. Or maybe I'm too dumb. This one makes it straight to the point and in way anyone (with or without historical knowledge) could understand.
Oversimplified,i really thankful of you for making this video because thanks to you i able to pass my exam with the full marks of WW1 questions,so once again thank you
Oversimplified: Everyone was talking about each other behind each other’s backs. Germany to Austria: Let’s kick Russia’s butt. Bulgaria to Russia: Yo, You got my back? Austria to Germany: I hear Russia likes nickel back. Italy to Britain: Austria lives with its Mom. France to Britain: Germany’s butt’s hairy. Germany to France: Rekt Russia to France: U smell nice. Spain: *que* ?
I’m making the Russian history for my class because I wanted to and due to ww1 being in my Russian history I remember that I learned ww1 on your channel so I remember how it started and ended Thanks for making this history video
@Unknown I guess, I saw some people saying if Turkey acknowledges Armenian genocide they would have to ost huge sums of money and in worst case scenario some land from Anatolia. But I'm not an expert on geopolitical stuff.
Pretty amazing the level of motivation and money people have to sustain a war on this scale. I would barely grasp a straw if I was drowning. Nothing is worth fighting for that bad.
do you guys notice? i havent seen one comment saying anything said in the video are incorrect or bias. Thank you for this top tier knowledge video you have made for us. May you live to a hundred years old and upload more videos for us every year. =p THANK YOU!!!!!!!!
0:03 the world in 1914 0:05 modern technology 0:06 culture 0:07 fashion 0:11 let's have a war 0:20 german navy 0:27 people did not think it was cool 0:29 declaring independence 0:31 with help from Russia 0:40 beat each other up 0:43 Sarajevo 0:48 archduke Franz ferdinando
WW1 in a nutshell: So basically France and the UK declared war on Germany for declaring war on Russia for declaring war on the Austro-Hungarian Empire for declaring war on Serbia.
Fun fact: the serial number of the car where FF was assassinated was AIII 118, foreshadowing the armistince. The reason why it’s a foreshadowing is because the I could be read as a 1. Therefore you could read it as A111 118, also being read as A111118 (Armistince November 11th, 1918)
I looked for your channel and i'm impressed that i can't scroll down all your videos without reloading because there is only a few You're some kind of prophet from the internet
I'd recommend reading "A Short History of WWI" by Norman Stone. Fairly quick reading, and goes over these points and the wider political context in more detail- not quite as Oversimplified, but better than a textbook.
Our teacher showed this and part 2 today in history class, good job man this video was very enjoyable even to Me who does not care about history at all
Oversimplified I don’t care if you don’t see this but I just want to let you know that I always learn more than you and your videos then school they teach horribly and it’s like two years to learn one small little battles but here I can just learn the entirety of world war one in a few minutes you are the best person ever thank you
Ah I remember when this channel was young I believe the subscriber count was like 14k I had heard all about WWII But had no idea about WWI, so I went to KZclip and looked up something to the effect of “world war one history simplified” And I remember this coming up and thinking OMG PERFECT This and part 2 were the only videos on the channel I thought “I sure hope this guy posts more” since I thought he was dead since it was just two videos and not a crazy amount of subs I’m so glad for your success and even five years later still love your channel!!! Keep up the good work!!! Ive been in love ever since
sorry, i have to post this under all top comments: there is no food named "pfefferpotthast" in germany; not even anything close to it. just wtf do you think of us. if u would google the top foods eaten in germany, u would see lasagne #1, spaghetti bolognese #2, pizza #3.
i saw a american movie the movie is in english where it tells of german soldiers during world war 1 they were fighting in trenches in occupied france they were off duty swimming when they saw girls they went up to the girls and spoke to them in french. the german soldier saves a foreign soldier fighting in the trenches i do not know what country he was from at the end of the movie the german soldier telling the story gets shot and dies i do not know what movie was that i forgot the name of the movie
I like how he didn’t even introduce his channel and just started spitting facts
I can’t believe we’re allowing this kind of misinformation go through very disappointing as a whole
Fr
Kinda how KZclip worked 6 years ago.
That's how loyal he is to the subject
@Hriscu Bogdanyeah bro the fashion was great
If you’re having a bad day, always remember that at least you didn’t start a war only because you took a wrong turn
Bro the kill assists that that assassin must have is insane
@corrupted well said.
@Ok you could say it was the turn of the century
l love the video
wars are necessary for population control , it eliminates weak and strong remains , bring new tech , improve globalisation , get moral ethics
6 years ago and surprisingly this still *feels* original
So is this by the same guy who made the history of the universe and history of Japan videos? Because if not this is definitely not original.
Edit: just checked the video description and he even mentions the guy who’s style he is using here.
@Dino Productions 16
ye
It does not *feel* original, it still *IS* original my friend!
Agreed 😊
History has taught us that every time the standard of living is at its highest, everyone wants to have a war
@Connor Briffa these dont break otu bc of prosperity it breaks out because people want stuff from eachother

@Doriel Can’t chill when the person’s not hot
@Doriel Ratio
Tysm super interesting, I actually ss it so I could read it again anytime xD
fact? this is a whole essay
Just finished watching the whole WW1 and WW2 series, so so well made. I’ve never had a good understanding of the world wars until now. Thank you
Imagine taking a wrong turn somewhere and suddenly you’ve changed the course of human history
@ANTI-GAY 🏳️🌈⃠ and?

He peaked at the Russian Revolution; it's overproduced now
@Pablo Ruiz it’s not the movie I mentioned? only movie I know where a german dies at the end writing a story
@GenoCyber i saw the movie in the charge channel
@Pablo Ruiz The Western Front, perhaps?

With just HOW MUCH MORE detailed Oversimplified's videos have been the last couple years, I personally would LOVE to see him remake his WW1 videos!
@Dillon Crowe Who knows what will happen, I'd still watch it anyway.
@John Machenzie sure, it takes more time, but it is oh so worth it.
@Dillon Crowe He spends too much time on his videos (often half a year), and instead of remakes like this one (not to mention this isn't even a bad video) he could invest his time and energy on new projects. @John Machenzie why not?
No he shouldn't
You literally helped me do my history assignment. Thank you!
The man has a video on nearly every major historical conflict/event
I mentioned this channel to my history teacher. We are currently learning about world war 1.
He showed it to the class today 🤓
Your class must be loving history.
Same
@M Y T H I C A L N O V A Yay I am gonna watch it on repeat. : )
@M Y T H I C A L N O V A ):
@M Y T H I C A L N O V A bro chill just because your dog died (which is horrible) you shouldn't take it out on random people on KZclip

If you ever feel dumb remember that the Arch Duke of Ferdinand went back out in public after people tried to assassinate him.
still can't top off my stupidity. even when you include the war
While it's true that he went back out in public after the failed attempt on his life, it's also important to note that he and those around him likely had a false sense of security. @Black Haze yeah that’s true.

Can we all just appreciate how far the videos have come. From humble beginnings to totally epic
I always come back here after a new upload just to see how far he's come since this first video. It's truly amazing how far the animation quality has come along.
Not just animation, compared to the newer vids you can really hear the audio being noticeably and inconsistenly edited.
Okay so like who wants him to be your history teacher
YES!
meeee my history teacher i boring
Me.
Me
Me
I can't tell you how much your videos have helped me. When I take in information I have a hard time not spacing out but your videos are so fun and humorous I get it in just one watch!

Can't wait for Part 2, good luck with that.
U lost in time or something?
"hes stupid but hes got the spirit"
Part 2 is out years ago my dude
THIS was 5 years ago 😄
It's almost been 6 years... this was the first video I watched of oversimplified and I come back to pay respects every year
WWI: caused by shooting an austrian guy
WWII: caused by not shooting an austrian guy
WWII: ended by an Austrian guy in charge of Germany shooting himself
Mistakes make you stronger
Tandey (British Guy who didn't shoot Hitler in 1918) = *GOD*
Caused by Austria annexing Serbian land
I still can’t believe how far he’s came from this vid to his latest, I’m so proud of him fr. I love watching the old videos for when I sleep it’s so calming

Watching this after 6 years it’s just amazing to see the difference in his videos from now and then ❤❤
It's fun comparing his oldest video to his newer ones and seeing how much he's improved.
you're the reason i dont need to open my history book to study world history
Who caused ww1: an uber driver
Who caused ww2: an art teacher
This is the funniest comment I’ve seen in a while
What Caused WW1 - An Austrian Man gets Shot
What Caused WW2 - An Austrian Man doesn't get shot
I hope there's no ww3
You mean an art student
And now ww3 was caused by a dude getting blown up with a missile
I never thought I'll ever use the videos on this channel as a homework research/resource for possible answers but here I am, doing exactly that 💀

the fact that i wasnt in school for like 2 months while everyone was learning about ww1 and then the day I return, I learn that the day after we'll have a quiz regarding ww1 and then I start to panic, come across this channel (and this vid) and somehow pass my quiz which shows how informative and on point this channel is 💕
Thanks for creating this. So many others start waffling nonsence and start from part way through the war. This focus on how it started and progressed is a great bite sized way to learn.
Fun fact: you still can't stop watching this guy spitting facts
Just realised my brother’s teacher uses your videos to teach ww1 in humanities lessons
Just shows how good these videos are
Fun Fact: In world wars, Belgium’s only purpose is acting as a toll booth to France
I think a lot of Belgians gave their lives and fought valiantly RIP
Fun fact: my step-step grandfather is Belgium royalty
Joshua Mills Bluejay also covers History welll. Same for Illuminaughtii and
of course CGP Gray.
Papers please
@Jason Dyrkacz and that's how Belgium became the richest country on earth
This guy has taught me more about WWI than a world history could ever
This is the only world war channel that is not boring to watch and makes it fun to learn this stuff.
hated history all my life and the way we study it as a subject at school.
Point probably made
Feeling like telling some things about a school trip I had, related to WW1 because I'm mostly passionate about WW1, and also why not
Back in elementary school, in what we call "CM1" in the French grades (the grade before the last grade in elementary in the French school system), we went on a class trip to No Man's land, visiting a museum about WW1 and everything surrounding it.
I would really like to see "WWI remastered" because there is so much more to talk about.
I would like to see the Soviet-Polish war for independence as a mini war
@Webby yeah but also his newer videos are on longer topics
Ww1 didnt have as much, ig the russian revolution counts for a long topic but he already talked about it
@Webby yeah but also his newer videos are on longer topics

@8-Bit Stream Ratio
It is oversimplified
The shelling didn't have a large impact on morale. "Shell shocked" is a very old word for what we would no call "PTSD." What this means is people can handle getting shelled all day, but they cannot handle death and fear.
This was his first video ever on KZclip. Usually, people just start explain themselves, what their channel is about, etc. But this CHAD starts feeding our brains with useful information.
Love this one. The script on these old videos had something special about it
for real, i prefer this type
The history channel that is actually better then social studies and history class, I learned more from oversimplified then I did in school
I wouldn't mind having this guy as a history teacher
Austria: Sends impossible demands to Serbia
Serbia: Does the impossible demands
Austria: now that’s a twist
Who is the guy that everybody was fighting.
@Petar Djordjević Meee tooooooooooooooo
@Rosalidia c This is a war worth fighting for
The American Dude what the hell? I'm chinese american and my parents gave me this name. He's not trying to be white, he's not doing anything, and he's just making a comment. But why would you call him white? You don't really know him, just him name. So it's bold to be making accusations about someone based on their names.
This man hit the ground running with his content. Ive never rewatched a youtuber as often as i have oversimplified like jesus
Thanks to you i got an A+ form history at the end of the grade, really well done keep up the good work
Simple, short, clear, informative. That’s all we need.
It's nice to watch this and see how far he's come. So proud.
At 3:32, the image portrayed was actually a potential new uniform that France may have adopted if WWI hadn't broken out. To note, there is a green and yellow version of this uniform as well.
I learned more about history from Oversimplified than 4 years of Social Studies
Ilr
Same
@InfernoNash an overused one
@MemezRus same
@InfernoNash 2024 same here
*Finally, someone speaks my language.* I've been searching for the summary of WWI and all the videos are like for experts.
Germany to France: Rekt
Russia to France: U smell nice.
Spain: *que* ?
Oversimplified should create a game like countryball did but with the full people they used early in the video I'd definitely want to play that game
So we’ll explained with hints of humor! Just like a sitcom! Loved it.
noc
School: you cant use wikipedia
Me: *laughs in Oversimplified*
@hans tf man?
@Lucas Sturgill I hate schools like that
@hans wtf are you talking about?
It feels like my school is the only one who encouraged the students to use wikipedia
Through time, not only did his videos immensely improved, well-edited and well researched, but his mic was, too.
Love your channel. Can you redo the World Wars again more in depth? There is a total of 15 min of WWI when your newer videos are 2-4 times long.
The fact that this was his first video and it’s great says something
I learned more about history from this channel then my history class
I’m making the Russian history for my class because I wanted to and due to ww1 being in my Russian history I remember that I learned ww1 on your channel so I remember how it started and ended
Thanks for making this history video
russia in WWI isn’t really talked about in this video
Germany is that one guy in online PvP/Battle Royale games that has to carry the entire team and loses as a result.
Lol facts, also didn’t help that I joined the war :/
@Tyrone Bot u say competent like its a video game😭
@Unknown I guess, I saw some people saying if Turkey acknowledges Armenian genocide they would have to ost huge sums of money and in worst case scenario some land from Anatolia. But I'm not an expert on geopolitical stuff.
@Alex M.A.D maybe because they want to Distance themselves
Pretty amazing the level of motivation and money people have to sustain a war on this scale. I would barely grasp a straw if I was drowning. Nothing is worth fighting for that bad.
do you guys notice? i havent seen one comment saying anything said in the video are incorrect or bias. Thank you for this top tier knowledge video you have made for us. May you live to a hundred years old and upload more videos for us every year. =p THANK YOU!!!!!!!!
if I was a history teacher, I would've shown this to my class
This video is 5 years old?! Why is this channel so consistently good?!
0:03 the world in 1914
0:05 modern technology
0:06 culture
0:07 fashion
0:11 let's have a war
0:20 german navy
0:27 people did not think it was cool
0:29 declaring independence
0:31 with help from Russia
0:40 beat each other up

@Space most likely for personal notes
This comment is so useless but yes
WW1 in a nutshell: So basically France and the UK declared war on Germany for declaring war on Russia for declaring war on the Austro-Hungarian Empire for declaring war on Serbia.
@Flashstar 123 nice
@Reiny Amrita Actually they declared war upon each other at the same day.
So wars happened.
you got this from that one countryballs video, i loved that one
This man made learning so much more humorous
Fun fact: the serial number of the car where FF was assassinated was AIII 118, foreshadowing the armistince. The reason why it’s a foreshadowing is because the I could be read as a 1. Therefore you could read it as A111 118, also being read as A111118 (Armistince November 11th, 1918)
I looked for your channel and i'm impressed that i can't scroll down all your videos without reloading because there is only a few
You're some kind of prophet from the internet
I'd recommend reading "A Short History of WWI" by Norman Stone. Fairly quick reading, and goes over these points and the wider political context in more detail- not quite as Oversimplified, but better than a textbook.
Our teacher showed this and part 2 today in history class, good job man this video was very enjoyable even to Me who does not care about history at all
I introduced this to my history teacher and she showed it to us in class today. I feel so powerful.
I watched this in class too😂
Well same here but there is a clean version for schoolz
Thug life 🕶
Same
i strongly recommend you a book by Ken Follet, tittled 'Fall of Giants', it shows a wide view of the world in the time of ww1 perfectly.
He’s taught me more than my history teacher and he’s been talking for 6 minutes
Oversimplified I don’t care if you don’t see this but I just want to let you know that I always learn more than you and your videos then school they teach horribly and it’s like two years to learn one small little battles but here I can just learn the entirety of world war one in a few minutes you are the best person ever thank you
You really need to remake this one you have gotten so much better
My students loved both part 1 and 2. Small suggestion - up the volume. Even with my speakers on max volume, audio was hard to hear at times.
Oversimplified:
*Comes onto KZclip*
*Starts spitting facts*
*Doesn't elaborate*
*Leaves*
*Returns and starts spitting facts again*
Thus the cycle continues
based
i absolutely fear this man
Everyone: Rewatching until he uploads
Ah I remember when this channel was young
I believe the subscriber count was like 14k
I had heard all about WWII But had no idea about WWI, so I went to KZclip and looked up something to the effect of “world war one history simplified”
And I remember this coming up and thinking OMG PERFECT
This and part 2 were the only videos on the channel
I thought “I sure hope this guy posts more” since I thought he was dead since it was just two videos and not a crazy amount of subs
I’m so glad for your success and even five years later still love your channel!!! Keep up the good work!!!
Ive been in love ever since
This was the beginning of an era.Not the war , I mean this video. This was when the legend Oversimplified was born.
Oversimplified’s first video and yet it’s still quality content!
OverSimplified videos are getting better and better
I feel like i learn the map of the world through this as well as the war and movements through the different countries.
Me: Is four a lot?
Oversimplified: Depends on the context.
Oversimplified : dollars? No.
Oversimplified: meters gained in world war 1? Yes.
LMFAO
Brilliant comment
dollars in usa? no. us dollars in south asia, latinoamerica, africa, russia, some of the middle east countries and Turkey? yes, yes it is
Lime Green I don’t think anyone asked
1000nt liker!
I've always thought I was a WW1 expert but I never took the time to study or anything, gosh I was wrong, Great Video.
No introduction no ads no nothing, just immediately got to the point, love it.
Amazing video. Videos of channel helps linking so many little historical anecdotes together and interesting✨😎‼
I like coming back here to see how much progress has been made on the channel's video production
Thanks man I needed this for my college ww1 project Credits to you my man!
Ww1:the war to end all wars.
Hitler:well yes but, actully no.
Well, ja but actually nein.
The name "The war to end all wars"comes from the fact that WWI was the last war where the europeans fought the ol' fashioned way.
sorry, i have to post this under all top comments:
there is no food named "pfefferpotthast" in germany; not even anything close to it. just wtf do you think of us. if u would google the top foods eaten in germany, u would see lasagne #1, spaghetti bolognese #2, pizza #3.
loa
kim jun ung: yes but no
Ww1: the war to end all wars.
Hitler: hold my beer
My history teacher showed us this video and we all died laughing, great work 😂
i saw a american movie the movie is in english where it tells of german soldiers during world war 1 they were fighting in trenches in occupied france they were off duty swimming when they saw girls they went up to the girls and spoke to them in french. the german soldier saves a foreign soldier fighting in the trenches i do not know what country he was from at the end of the movie the german soldier telling the story gets shot and dies i do not know what movie was that i forgot the name of the movie

I like how he did even introduce his channel or anything just started spitting straight facts

Imagine how embarrassed the driver of Ferdinand felt after taking a wrong turn.
