@Aman Goyal Most likely Allicent since you can see the blurred dagger off to the side, and it looks like she is holding someone back as she says it. Plus the scene of Alicent looking like she is ready to shank a bitch guarantees it to be her.
@Ry Alicent had the dagger beacuse one of rheanyra's son stabs aemond in the eye and Viserys wouldn't have given that boy any punishment because his grandchild so Alicent maybe in grief and anger tries to attack rheanyra or her bastard son
lol seamless? they went from charming innocent teenagers straight to 40 near 50 year old schemers. nothing in between. that was the opposite of seamless lmaaooo.
@blqest Emma D'Arcy is 30 years old and Olivia Cooke is 28. They are the perfect age for the adult versions of the characters. And you are watching the wrong show if you really believed that they would have acted the same way as they had 10 years ago.
Episode 6 is a masterpiece indeed. I love the idea of it, everyone in this episode doing everything to protect their children. Viseris is wishfully blind to his daughter sins; Alisent is paranoid and fearful for her children; Strong is doing an honourable thing because of his son and literally dies with him for his sins; Rhaenira defends her children and moves to the Dragonstone... And Larys Strong says to it all: children are weakness. And he is right. Everything is about them, this is a natural order of life. All of them had made mistakes in sake of their children. And the war will be started because of them. Because of love. I admire the way this episode crafted.
The director, writers and everyone involved are doing their hardest to please the viewers and it’s working. What a great episode. True to its legacy. As sad as it was to see Harwin die, I am glad plot armour isn’t a thing. We got to know this man for one episode, fell in love and had him ripped from us in true GoT fashion. HoTD is going places.
@Eric He had less plot armor than every character involved in the War on the Night King, actually took damage from it and from the foreshadowing of most of his men prepared for mutiny prior to him beating Viserys' messenger, even he seemed unsure if his men would appear for a counter attack or just leave him to die and wait for the reinforcements from Viserys.
Eh, Larys was a moustache twirl away from being a complete joke of a villain. I'm liking the show a lot, but sometimes it really drops the ball. Making the Rhea and Harwin/Lionel deaths a little more open to interpretation would be more interesting, rather than just them being murdered and us knowing everything. They didn't set up any motivations for Larys to become a double kin slayer, and the last time we see Larys and Harwin together they are on good terms. Just a bit too quick a turn to completely evil mad man. Same with Criston in ep5, and the lack of justification for him going unpunished for murdering someone at the Princess's wedding is very infuriating for me personally. It's strange when they get other relationships and characterisations so good - and then some basics that could be explained with as little as one extra line of dialogue fall flat imo.
That first scene of Rhaenyra giving birth, all in one shot, was phenomenal. I was one who truly dreaded the leave of Milly and Emily, but Emma and Olivia indeed showed us why they were cast as the lead actresses.
I cried as Laena asked to be burned and the scene shifted into Harwin's leaving and eventual death... wow. Couldn't keep it in. That was powerful, emotional, sad. Evocative. What an episode.
At the end of it I was like "wow, that's undoubtedly game of thrones". All the politics, schemes, tension and of course the dramatic deaths happening just how it happened. Oh I missed it.
The birth scene shows the difference between each brother and their love and respect for their wives. They were both faced with the same decision, and while viserys choose his son over his wife, daemon said no to the doctor, and let laena choose her own faith.
wt the hell are talking about?, in both the cases the mother was gonna die anyways, viserys did not have a choice of choosing his wife at all, it was both wud die or atleast try saving the baby
@Achinthya Shabaraya what you don’t understand is that it wasn’t their choice to make, it was laena’s and emma’s. Emma screamed while she died “viserys, no”. Laena specifically said earlier in the episode she wanted a dragon riders death.
@Achinthya Shabaraya In both cases the mother would die regardless, the difference is Viserys chose to kill his wife to potentially save his unborn 'son' that he had a gut feeling about. He murdered his wife as she screamed in terror and agony, pleading with her husband to stop while he just tries to console her that everything will be fine, then his son choked to death a few hours later. Daemon when asked the same question hesitates with the doctor, and begins to shake his head 'No'. Laena had heard the doctor speaking about potentially being able to save the baby if they cut it out of her, and she wouldn't survive it. She wanted to die a Dragonrider's death as she explained earlier in the episode and knowing Daemon she thought he would have said 'Yes' to the doctor. She couldn't see him from behind the wall so she didn't get the hint that he was going to say no to the request. She just took off to go die a Dragonrider's death.
that s not it , y all just wanna act like daemon is such a good guy lmao; i ll say both Brothers have the same level of love and respect for their wives; yes, viserys chose to at least try to save the son, but aemma would ve died anyways, and he s still feeling guilty about it years after it happened, he loved her and even in the last episode there was a scene where viserys was Alone in his room looking at his rings and crying (due to remembering aemma i assume?); daemon did have respect for laena and he probably loved her but the one he always wanted all this time was rhaenyra, and he s gonna marry her now that laena is dead; seriously You guys should stop acting like daemon is better than everyone else; there s not a single character in this story that has only positive traits
Honestly I was shocked by the child birth scene the most! The authenticity behind the whole experience….. the one small details in that whole scene was crazy. The after birth and her leaving trail of blood from just delivering her son.
That was all done to show how strong she is and that regardless of the situation she is going to rise to the occasion and make sure she protects her new born.
oh did that happen when you gave birth too? you walked out and trailed blood and afterbirth behind you? yeah it looked really harrowing probably the worst thing anyone could ever go through
@John C (R A) There is no need to have the exact experience in order to identify with what is happening. Women continue to bleed days after giving birth so Rhaenyra's quick and sloppy dressing up would ensure that all that blood would continue to run down her legs. Of course walking out is not the common thing to do, but there are parts of childbirth that mothers rarely see depicted (or even hinted at), like the afterbirth and lochia.
I know Emma is great but can we take a minute to appreciate Olivia's performance I episode 6. Every single time Allicent was on screen, I was hooked. Olivia captured Allicent perfectly and has already solidified her as a character who I will definitely love to hate. So good.
They wont appreciate her no matter how good she was coz they only like the actor who plays a character they like Hotd fandom is the most toxic and hypocrite fandom I have ever seen who would go to any level to insult the actors too who play a character they hate
Milly and Emily were fine, but Emma and Olivia are ACTING like their lives are on the line! This aint no silly high school shit anymore, and I'm glad to have some grown women who know what they're doing for what's about to come.
I think the 10 year time is a poor excuse to completely change the characters while still keeping the characters and their relationships relevant. I didn’t really buy Rheanarya as she’s so different. She was established as more outwardly defiant and daring compared to alicents who is more composed. So it’s so weird to see them basically doing the opposite where alicent is the one who is more forward and outright in her contempt while Rhaenarya is more subtle. Criston still being bitter about what happened ten years ago makes no sense. Daemon is really the only one who seems like the exact same character but with 10 years of time. A far more realistic depiction of time changing a person. A person and their beliefs, personality, and tics are all the same but it’s their motivations and desires that change. Something that literally hasn’t changed for any other character.
The fact that the book provides multiple differing accounts to certain key events definitely played in the show's favour in terms of what happened at the end of the episode. It's also great how they manage to weave all these disparate elements together. Yes, it would have been nice to see more of certain characters but those characters who remain a constant so far (Rhaenyra, Alicent, Viserys, Daemon) all turn out to be beautifully layered and intriguing creations.
'Someone stole Vhagar'! Man, the scene, where Aemond is mocked by Aegon and his cousins about how he still has not bonded with any dragons yet, is so powerful because soon he'll be the rider of the largest dragon in Westeros. This scene is such a parallel portrayal of the chapter in the books where Maegor Targaryen was teased by Alyssa Velaryon about how even his niece, Rhaena Targaryen is riding the dragon, Dreamfyre now but he cannot. Maegor there answers shrewdly that there is only one dragon worth riding by him which later turns out to be the Black Dread, Balerion. Be careful when teasing a Targaryen about dragons!
They lived up to what they teach in great writing where 'show don't tell' Even with very little words exchanged in scenes between Rhaynera and Harwin, you felt the strong affection just by their faces and movement. I didn't have to know the past 10 years on why she didn't care much if the boys had dark hair. For her choosing all her sons to be fathered by Harwin and let them be by their side it showed in the episode so beautifully without Rhaeynera and Harwin even talking about it or their relationship.
Emma D’arcy’s voice is really unique. It has a sense of calm even when there is rage under her tone. Which tbh is quite scary. I think she did great justice to the character of Rhynaera. Olivia cooke is also great. Now I am waiting for Daemon and Rhynaera to meet and become unbeatable together. Lady laena is dead and Laenor will probably die sooner or later and Harwin is already dead so the path for Daemon and Rhynaera is clear. I can’t wait for these two to ride their dragons and wreak havoc lol.
Lady Laena's death was deep, seeing the look of sadness in Vhagar's eyes was heart wrenching. Layrs's littlefinger 2.0 strats will really be a game changer. Also I could have gone the entire show without that one Aegon scene. This show is really heating up now.
Targaryens are somewhat resistant to heat, as dany had the extremely scalding bath in ep 1 and didn't burn, although they can burn and die from fire as jon burns his hand on a lantern in season 1. In the books dany suriving the fire was considered a one off magical event because of the sacrifice and hatching of dragon eggs. D&D just decided for the show to change it from a one off magical event and make dany immune to fire all the time
Laena told Daemon she knew she wasn’t the one he wanted but I think Daemon truly loved and respected her more than he was willing to let on. His actions proved that: He was willing to stay in Pentos away from Westeros content with Laena, his two daughters , his unborn child and his books. He didn’t seem to be annoyed with her outside of her desire to go back to Westeros.
The fact that we keep jumping forward and so much happens in each episode yet it’s so well paced and written that it all feels perfect is insane!!!😍❤️ The characters are so well done even if they don’t last the episode, story is so dark and intense!!
Seriously i'm watching the show especially for Daemon and Rhaenyra. Both characters are just amazing and so interesting to see . And when together, even more!! Episode 6 was mostly dark and sad. Daemon and Rhaneyra are not happy at all. We can see how lonely they feel. I love the parallel between Rhaenyra's life and Daemon' life. And i can't wait to see the two of them reunited and committing crimes together. It's not in Daemon nature to stay calm and doing nothing. He misses his brother and Rhaenyra very much but he stays away from them cause he is afraid of being the old Daemon he used to be. The Daemon who makes chaos and have fun in life. Being happy we can say. As for Rhaenyra, she is more matured. We can see that she loves her children deeply but she became exactly the thing she didn't want to be; her mother. Daemon and Rhaenyra complete each other (like it or not they are great together), so i can't wait to see them together again and happy.
Great episode. Last scene with Larys and the queen was one of the best I'v ever watched. That horror in the queen eyes when she realizes she is in the presence of a monster.
I thought it was one of the weakest scenes in the whole series. Amazing how people can view it so differently. We've got far too little of Larys to be able to understand his motivation for double kinslaying. In ep5 he is clearly on good terms with Harwin. I think it's the worst written character in the show.
@Neil Clearly on good terms with Harwin ? Where did you get that from ? They literally only had one conversation on screen, and it was just chit chat about Alicent and the Hightower colors. It does not necessarily mean they were close. Also, ten years have passed. Relationships change. Larys also stood to gain quite a lot by doing this. He's now Lord of Harrenhal. Obviously he's a psychopath, and we don't yet understand why. But it's not "bad" writing. We just don't know enough about him.
Man, this show is filled with quality material and performances. Even with the constant time jumps, we can still accompany the story so well. This last episode made me want to read the book again. Top tier television!
It's AMAZING the amount of work and care went into all the roles, some of which only last Ava episode or two. You care about them all the same. Unlike that other show
The way Mr. bee and flower fellow was so casual about that cruel murder was absolutely chilling. From severing the tongues to keep them quiet... to forcing them essentially to murder others for their own lives... just, wow. What a villain. He's giving Miss Allic*nt a run for her money!
He's playing with a flower during the last scene, meaning that now that he has committed this act, he thinks that she is indebted to him or else he reveals that he did it for her benefit.
Brilliant episode and amazing writing When Harwin said to his baby boy Joffrey, 'I will be a stranger when we meet again' Laena choosing a dragon rider's death by having Vhagar burn her Rhaenyra saying you could bring him to Laenor, referring to his paramour And I hate Alicent's guts, major props to Olivia Cooke, AND Emma D'Arcy, both are forces to be reckoned with
I love the comments under this vid. Just wholesome and praising the show, especially the new cast. I loved Milly as Rhaenyra and Emily did a great job too, but Emma and Olivia are the original actresses for those roles as they were cast first, and in the last episode they just proved they're equally talented as the actresses that appeared before them.
I felt sorry for Daemon the most for once. He had a peaceful life with his wife and two girls. He would never admit it, but he was content. Even though Lenea said she wasn't his first choice. He cared for her. What happens with his daughter's now?
they sail home. I'm guessing it was Laena funeral because she said she was long for home. Daemon probably took her ash back to Driftmark and let the girls meet their grandparents.
The girls are engaged to Jace and Luce. Baela was amazing and meant to be queen with Jace. Later they both survive the Dance and a source of comfort for their traumatised, depressed little brother Aegon 3 after he becomes king.
He was not content. He was depressed and longing for home (even Laena calls him out on that). Laena even mentions she knows she is not his first choice for wife.
The show deviates from the book with George R. R. Martin's blessings. And even what the show runners chose to show and what they chose to gloss over leaves a lot to individual interpretation because you're forced to fill in the blanks with your own imagination. I've read quite a few recaps and each one saw the Leana/Daemon marriage in different light. As for the future, ho knows what survives from the book? But you can be certain the heavily foreshadowed union of Rhaenyra and Daemon will happen.
I actually been raving about this for years. the Dance of Dragons is something Daenerys was preventing when she begged Jon not to tell Sansa about his true lineage. she said: "even if none of us wants a war, people will press your claim and you can do nothing about it." that actually happens on Rhaenyra & Alicent, as she said to Aegon. because Daenerys learned her history.
not fully true tho, Jon could publicly abdicate. The dance of dragons happens because Aegon goes along with his mother's wishes. If he said "nah, it's my sisters crown" possibly nothing would have happened.
Sorry, but Daenerys was power hungry (in the show), even if you don‘t want to admit it. She believed it was her right to rule and she had no interest in sharing the power, although Jon would have had the better claim. It just shows how petty she was. However, I have to admit that bad writing by dumb and dumber not only messed her up, but the whole show in general, so no clue what would’ve been different.
@Paul Lucas Dany and Rhaenyra is in the same position. Rhaenyra thinks it was hers because her father gave it to her and Alicent think it was Aegon's because he is the first born son. Rhaegar was disinherit by the Mad King and he plan to rebel. he was backed, by lots of people who's sick of the Mad King. so that means, Viserys is the King. since he died, Dany is the Queen. so she's not power hungry, as Rhaenyra, she's holding on her birthright. people will start a war to put Jon to the Throne and take away her rights as they did to Aegon II and Rhaenyra.
one of the best things about dude is that he never takes credit for himself when he achieves something . he always respect us, the audience, and his team, and he is always polite in all of his video. we congratulate ourselves on this achievement more to come and everything to come""❤💛🧡💙 Let's we all just appreciate the content this man and his crew makes it's just a masterpiece imagine what's he's gonna doing the future ❤ I hope this channel never ends and keeps spreading happiness.❤😊
Rhaenyra proposing his son to marry her daughter someday was literally so pure. She really wanted to fix things with her ex best friend, despite everything 🖤#TeamBlack
No she didn't and it was pretty obvious. I mean maybe she does but the marriage proposal was actually because as alicent thought she was trying to stop alicent from poking at the fact that her sons are black haired and therefore not laenor's
The fact the Daemon & Rhaenyra both lose their lovers to fire in the same episode🔥 is such brilliant writing. It was a sad episode and it felt like a new Pilot for the show. I think HOTD is going to get bigger than GOT . New actors are brilliant
I really like how they handled Laena’s death. In the books she gives birth but the child is malformed and dies an hour later. She does going to the beach to ride Vhagar one last time but collapses. Daemon then Carries her body back.
Milly Alcock is the TRUE Rhaenyra, this new actress does not have the charisma and wittiness of Milly. We should start a petition and BRING BACK MILLY ALCOCK, she was such a good actress
@La Rochejaquelein lol stfu. I love Milly so much. I used to think the same. Was furious when got to know about Milly's replacement. But Emma captivated me from the first scene. Their charisma is irresistible!! They is the best cast for adult Rhae
@La Rochejaquelein This is a 10-year time skip. None of us are the same person in 10 years. Emma's portrayal of an older Rhaenyra is pretty spot-on to me.
Lyonel Strong is my 2nd favorite Hand of the King after Davos. Loyal, intelligent and had his King’s and the realm’s best interests at heart. His only downside it seems were his sons….
This prequel ... is just 🔥... when GOT got over, i wondered if there would be another series that could fill the gap. I hope House of the dragon keeps me entertained for another 8 years .. and i hope it continues and shows the events till Robert and Ned led the rebellion .. I want to see more about the younger Barristen Selmy, Arthur Dayne and the other last of the Targaryen kingsguards
Episode 6 was my favorite by far. Olivia and Emma made it. I for one am happy for the age-up because their acting is a lot better than the younger versions. The past 5 episodes bored me to tears. Glad things are picking up!
One of the best things about dude is that he never takes credit for himself when he achieves something. He always respect us, the audience, and his team, and he is always polite in all of his videos. We congratulate ourselves on this achievement. More to come and everything to come.
This series has been exceeding my expectations each episode. You really have to be careful what characters you start getting attached to because you never know what will happen or how things will change.
If I were Alicent I would be f-king scary to have Larys "on my side". A guy that did that to his own family wouldn't think twice to discard her and her children more easily.
AHHHHHH im so in love with this show the casting is amazing EVERYTHING is amazing im so excited to see how everything in the books takes place in the show
It was such a great episode. It was sad that Vhagar was dying until Aemond came around, and Aemond is her rider now. Aemond took his rightful place. The ocean and beach scenes were beautiful, and I have to admit that Daemon and Rhaenyra seem to be meant to be. It is how the Targaryens do things. Rhaenyra had been thumbing her nose at the status quo by openly having children with the Commander of the Night's Watch, and it shows.
Both fighting for their children to sit on the throne, Rhaernyra children deserves it, Alicent’s father was calculating from the start, they are indeed great actresses.
@Cliff Stevenson i disagree. Rhaenyra has no ferocity after the time skip. Alicint is just insufferably annoying. I guess that’s the point tho so i wont say she’s bad but i preferred the younger actor for Rhaenyra.
Imo it would be better if certain murders were more ambiguous (Rhea, and Harwin/Lionel.) Larys comes across almost as comedic in how evil he is having been in barely any scenes, and with zero motivation or character development. Too much and too fast for his character. Last time we see the brothers speak they are friendly, then 10yrs later he burns him to death? Why? We get nothing to explain Larys turning this evil.
Incredible Transition from young to mature cast. Olivia's acting is so believable and consistent with Emily Carey's Alicent. Can't wait for more. Although the kin-wiving is repulsive asf.
every week i'm just waiting for the next episode of house of the dragon. thank you hbo for bringing back this type of show that makes me so giddy each sunday
I loved how Emma Cooke is transitioning her character to the dark side of Westerosi politics slowly instead of a sudden character shift. She still holds on to her virtues. I really thought Alsion was gonna be a Cersei like character, but the two actresses provided a shades of white & black portrayal of the character.
@batgurrl well that's because the real story / dance of dragons war happens when Rhaenyra and Alicent are older and have children... that's was always the point, in the show they expanded on their younger counterparts to add more depth and kind of a origin story for the MAIN story. that's why Emma and Olivia were casted first .
Fuck! Laena Velaryon was absolutely fire and blood. She wanted to die as a dragonrider, and as much as it pains Vhagar, she still did it. It was an emotional epic scene😢🔥
Huge respect towards Laena for being this tough when their marriage is at its weakest. And shame on Daemon (at the moment) for choosing to stay instead of going back to their original faction.
I really wish we had another episode with him. The Breakbones storyline would've been really great to see on the show. A good man crushed by the game of thrones.
I hope this channel never ends and keeps spreading happiness.❤😊 This vid is already a classic I can't wait to tell my grandkids this was the greatest youtuber of my time.
Rhaenyra really was her own greatest enemy. She had a crazy youth like so many of us, but the bitter truth is that she wasn't just someone else, she was a princess and heir to the throne. And in her position, every action had consequences.
It should come as no surprise that Emma D'Arcy & Olivia Cooke would totally smash it in their debut performances. Both actresses have done their homework and know their characters quite well. Cheers to them both!!
did they? it was pretty underwhelming... people already miss milly and young alicent. let's be honest, they deviated too much from GRRM's stories. house velaryon casting is another problem. smh.... terrible decision by hbo to "politicize" the casting.
Milly Alcock is the TRUE Rhaenyra, this new actress does not have the charisma and wittiness of Milly. We should start a petition and BRING BACK MILLY ALCOCK, she was such a good actress
@blqest I don't have a problem with the Velaryon casting so much as their refusal to provide a logical in canon explanation for why these Velaryons look so different from other Valyrians. They should not have kept saying they were of "Pure Valyrian blood." That is canonically not true of either Velaryons or Targaryens. It would have made sense for Coryls' mother to be a princess from the Summer Isles. I would have liked her to be from the Huose of Xaq on the Isle of Koj, which has the greatest shipbuilding industry in the world (except maybe Braavos) and the best navigational charts. His grandmother could have been from the Summer Isles too, as the book never tells who either of them are, but his grandfather was the brother of Alyssa Velaryon. Alyssa was canonically pale with silver hair and blue eyes, inherited from her Massey mother. Alyssa was the mother of The Old King Jaehaerys and Good Queen Alyssane, as well as of Jocelyn Baratheon who was Rhaenys' mother.
The way Alicent is so eager to have power and don't even know/understand basic things, like when Rhaenyra pointed out that Blackwood and Bracken are ready to kill each other, or when Rhaenyra argue that the war cost more (and Alicent immediately shut the meeting down (btw, does she have a right to do this, shouldn't it be king's decision?)). And the face she made when somebody from the council agreed with Rhaenyra about Blackwoods and Brackens is pure comedy from Alicent. Seems like she really thinks that she knows everything and anything Rhaenyra is saying is dumb by default.
Big Props to overlooked actors in this episode like Ryan Corr, Matthew Needham, John Macmillan and Nanna Blondell. All of them brought it. Also, Mysaria is looking like one of the smartest women because she evidently instinctively knew that if you marry Daemon Targaryen, you will die a horrible, horrible death.
If writers are smart and creative they can write with or without source material to help them along. The people handling this prequel series are simply better writers than the original couple.
my expectation exceeded for Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke, these ladies really portrayed perfectly the two major characters of the series and I can’t wait for the next few episodes left…👏🥹
I don't know what's better... On the one hand I want to binge this show so bad! But on the other hand I like not feeling empty so quick after finishing it and enjoying it little by little. So f good!
Leanas death by vhagar was a great change from the books, I'm glad she went out that way. In the books she died just trying to ride vhagar one last time.
Really enjoying HotD, but it does have it's flaws. The time jumps are skipping some good moments in the story, and it makes things feel slightly rushed (eg. it would have been nice to see some Harwin/Rhaenyra or Daemon/Laena scenes.) Criston going unpunished for his murder of Joffrey is senseless, and it's a bit too on the nose at times. Imo it would be better if certain murders were more ambiguous (Rhea, and Harwin/Lionel.) Larys comes across almost as comedic in how evil he is having been in barely any scenes, and with zero motivation or character development. I just hope they stick more to what is working - Rhaenyra, Alicent, Daemon, Corlys (also Viserys, but he's obviously not lasting much longer.)
Not that difficult since Rings of Power is the only other series with a comparable media presence and budget. It's not like as if there are a dozen other series running right now, so the statement you're making is bold.
@Blake House of Dragon is good, though it can be messy and awkward at times. But comparing that show to Rings of Power is complete delusion. RoP may not be as in depth as this, but it got everything else which makes it a complete masterpiece
Daemon suffered the most in this episode. The man was living the quiet life: Being treated like a King, got to read his books in solitude, had a happy family and didn’t have to worry about the political games of Westeros. The man was finally free to live and all of that was taken from him with the dead of his wife.
@Wilhelm They were actually, they even had a still of Daemon comfortinv and hugging his two daughters after their mother's death. In the books at least he was a good husband and father during this time.
@sms1511 that marriage wasn't rosey at all. Daemon and Leanor had separate desires. He still sought power whereas all she wanted was to head back to valerion ... He didn't even pay attention to his daughter. If that's your definition of happiness. Then you've got it narcissistically all tangled up
I was glad to see the softer side of Daemon especially after the last few episodes. It shows that there really is more to him then destruction and snide comments. This is what makes him such a great and complex character. I would have liked to have seen the earlier months or years of their marriage before killing Laena off. I felt her death was cheapened due to lack of buildup and context. The deaths in this series feel more like a convenient plot device rather than authentic story telling. I'm also not crazy about the pacing of the show. Too fast. Each episode feels like a standalone rather than part of a greater whole. Instead of laying a foundation and building upon it, they're placing plot points in a random series of events. It's more like a demo or preview than an actual series. It's rather jarring. It almost parodies itself; kids pop up out of nowhere, Viserys loses more hair and digits each episode, and relationships happen out of thin air. Laena and Laenor also had three actresses/actors in the span of six episodes which makes it harder to connect to their characters. They've also condensed a lot of the plot per episode to where certain things happen seemingly at random rather than in tandem. To where the characters have to fill in the blanks for you. It'd have been better to space it out for a more authentic feel. Show. Don't tell.
This episode was amazing! Starting off with the one shot sequence really hooks u in and then swapping over to pentos was also very exciting. I did not expect vhagar to be that humongous wow, now I understand why they were hyping it up. Really giving me GOT seasons 1-4 vibes! Hope they keep the consistency 🎉
On Ser Criston's bitterness: I won't be disappointed at all if the writers threw in a curve ball that Jace - Rhaenyra's 1st born - would turn out to be his. What a bomb that would be 😁
When you're watching a show that mostly consist of dialogues and you don't want it to end, then you know it's an epic show.
It gets better but the first episodes were painfully boring
I cant believe episode 6 got the worst rating… it is the beat episode so far
@Mustafa fh you have terrible taste fyi. Episode 6 was the worst so far
The part where Rhaenyra says "Now they see you as you are" gave me epic spinal chills.
I loved that line!!
Who did she say that too
Who else other than daemon my friend?
@Aman Goyal Most likely Allicent since you can see the blurred dagger off to the side, and it looks like she is holding someone back as she says it.
Plus the scene of Alicent looking like she is ready to shank a bitch guarantees it to be her.
@Ry Alicent had the dagger beacuse one of rheanyra's son stabs aemond in the eye and Viserys wouldn't have given that boy any punishment because his grandchild so Alicent maybe in grief and anger tries to attack rheanyra or her bastard son
What a seamless transition of cast, this show just builds and builds. Absolutely incredible.
lol seamless? they went from charming innocent teenagers straight to 40 near 50 year old schemers. nothing in between. that was the opposite of seamless lmaaooo.
@blqest 40 50? Buy some glasses
@blqest Emma D'Arcy is 30 years old and Olivia Cooke is 28. They are the perfect age for the adult versions of the characters. And you are watching the wrong show if you really believed that they would have acted the same way as they had 10 years ago.
@blqest if you think that the two actresses look like they are in their 40s and 50s you've been watching the wrong show.
I loved reading your comment. You broke down everything, props
careful observation. you play the game of thrones right way!
Cersei said to Sansa: Love no one but your children. 😁
The word masterpeice is used too loosely nowdays other than that i also liked the theme of this episode
@merkikima sorry, I'm not a native speaker, so I used the word that came to mind first. but the episode is still very good :)
HoTD is going places.
no one has plot armour in this show....it is so gut wrenching tragedy...I cried while reading it...
The only egregious plot armor is Daemon’s one-man showmanship at the Stepstones in the early episodes.
Could he still be alive?
@ShaggyDabbyDank Agreed
I swear every episode just keeps getting better and better. Let this never end please.
The rush and intensity will increase even more as the Dance begins. This is the calm before the storm.. so far!
and then at the end they will drop you from the top of castle black🤪🤣. we will be like wtf just happened😶
Lucky for us there is complete source material and D and D can't completely ruin it like they did game of thrones.
I was one who truly dreaded the leave of Milly and Emily, but Emma and Olivia indeed showed us why they were cast as the lead actresses.
they did a really good job.
Fr they were so good
Yesssss!
Yeah I don't know what you and others are talking about. The new actress for Rhaenyra sucks compared to Milly.
@Lawrence Frost cry harder
Oh I missed it.
did you really sob??
@Manvir Shergill definitely cried. No shame 😂
You must sob over small things in life then.
@Liono Awwwwh hating on someone you don't know cause you're out of touch with your powers of sensitivity? How fun! Blessings!
Meanwhile you forgetting he killed his ex wife 💀💀
Honestly I was shocked by the child birth scene the most! The authenticity behind the whole experience….. the one small details in that whole scene was crazy. The after birth and her leaving trail of blood from just delivering her son.
That was all done to show how strong she is and that regardless of the situation she is going to rise to the occasion and make sure she protects her new born.
This is legit the first birth scene that shows the woman delivering the placenta I have ever seen in film or TV
@Asoo Akeel off screen but we definitely hear it 😬
oh did that happen when you gave birth too? you walked out and trailed blood and afterbirth behind you? yeah it looked really harrowing probably the worst thing anyone could ever go through
@John C (R A) There is no need to have the exact experience in order to identify with what is happening.
So good.
They wont appreciate her no matter how good she was coz they only like the actor who plays a character they like
Hotd fandom is the most toxic and hypocrite fandom I have ever seen who would go to any level to insult the actors too who play a character they hate
What a fantastic episode. I must say, although I was sad to see Milly and Emily go, I absolutely adore Emma and Olivia as Rhaenyra and Alicent!
Milly and Emily were fine, but Emma and Olivia are ACTING like their lives are on the line! This aint no silly high school shit anymore, and I'm glad to have some grown women who know what they're doing for what's about to come.
@stoneheart I could not agree more.
AGREEED!
@Kyle Vernon How old are you? because i bet everybody here has completely changed there charakter from Teen years into there 30s.
Technically they are Aemond's nephews.
Even though I know what will happen to him but Fr aemond really a cool character imo.
@Pizza Is mine, no u can’t have it. aemond is goated he’s about to be the most fun character on the show
Ok but the pig scene was funny gotta admit
Thank You for spoilers miss know it all
They lived up to what they teach in great writing where 'show don't tell'
Even with very little words exchanged in scenes between Rhaynera and Harwin, you felt the strong affection just by their faces and movement.
Hey! Not sure if you know which is totally okay, but Emma D'Arcy uses they/them pronouns 🙂
@Alex Rundle oh i was not aware. I will address them as such now
Yesss. Something I loved from Emma’s acting. The voice has a perfect tone of urgency yet calmed as I would expect from Rhaenyra’s anxieties.
@Alex Rundle Who cares?
@Pious Krellington the op, clearly lol
Laena Velaryon shouting Dracarys as a plead was so sad and powerful
and showing a slight glimpse of vhagars emotions as well
It wasn't like that in the book but the tv version seems better
@Rose Dolch Ik I’ve read the book
@Rose Dolch The book was multiple accounts of people that existed back then, the show is what really happened.
Absolutely loved Emma's interpretation of the role - a gem ❤️❤️❤️
You are right❤❤
Beautiful last episode, love how both characters are given actual reasons for their actions and flaws. Not simply depicting one side as the bad/good.
Larys Strongs monologue at the end of episode 6 gave me goosebumps......Littlefinger would be proud
Larys is the OG littlefinger. However, luckily those kind of people never end up winning... look at varys and littlefinger himself...
@Tomas Novota not before creating so much chaos though
@Lekzin Tshering very true. But somehow justice always comes in the GOT universe.
Please stop with the comparison, little figure could never do this.
@Sports Entertainer this is GOT there are rarely villains and heroes. All do good and bad things. It all depends on their motives.
Lady Laena's death was deep, seeing the look of sadness in Vhagar's eyes was heart wrenching. Layrs's littlefinger 2.0 strats will really be a game changer. Also I could have gone the entire show without that one Aegon scene. This show is really heating up now.
How did the she died to dragon fire? I thought valyrian blood was immune to it?
He didn’t seem to be annoyed with her outside of her desire to go back to Westeros.
...and he didn't give the order to slice her up.
I love delete scene when Daemon hugs their both daughters after Laena's death!
And he undoubtedly passed his DNA with her.
@Natalia Michalak & They didn't showed it ! 😭😭😭
@Natalia Michalak do you have the link for it?
With each and every episode this show just keeps getting better and better.
The fact that we keep jumping forward and so much happens in each episode yet it’s so well paced and written that it all feels perfect is insane!!!😍❤️
The characters are so well done even if they don’t last the episode, story is so dark and intense!!
I loved how Vhagar hesitated to burn its rider, but still did what it was told to do. Amazing and emotional scene!
That horror in the queen eyes when she realizes she is in the presence of a monster.
and a monster im not 100% is on her side
It was not because of larys but because of the curse of harenhall. She insists that the judgement will be passed on larys and not her.
Unlike that other show
I already am reading the book again 😂
Same here!
Yep. Easily in my top two show post lockdown.
That's what you get if you don't focus on the Woke, that and great women characters :D
The way Mr. bee and flower fellow was so casual about that cruel murder was absolutely chilling.
Omg is he creepy and vile!!
@Regenmacher175 yes, he's a manipulator. The symbolism is what makes is sickly sweet. Big yikes.
Brilliant episode and amazing writing
When Harwin said to his baby boy Joffrey, 'I will be a stranger when we meet again'
Laena choosing a dragon rider's death by having Vhagar burn her
Rhaenyra saying you could bring him to Laenor, referring to his paramour
And I hate Alicent's guts, major props to Olivia Cooke, AND Emma D'Arcy, both are forces to be reckoned with
Episode 6 was a 10/10 episode I cannot wait to see how the rest of the season unfolds. The transition between actors felt fairly seemeless for me.
Olivia and Emma so much better than young cast tbh I dont say young cast bad, they were great.
Emma and Olivia as the new actors put the show on another level. They're really excellent in portraying their characters.
Just watched ep 6. and 10 years later and Criston is still bitter💀😂
A sidepiece that doesn't know the rules of the game can cause a lot of damage.
@David Williams that’s a FACT‼️🤣💯
They will be raised by their grandmother I suspect. Maybe one of them will flirt with crossing to the other side because she feels neglected.
@Karlijn S the thing is he did. But Alicent, Otto and Criston manipulated him to take the throne
Rhaegar was disinherit by the Mad King and he plan to rebel. he was backed, by lots of people who's sick of the Mad King. so that means, Viserys is the King. since he died, Dany is the Queen. so she's not power hungry, as Rhaenyra, she's holding on her birthright. people will start a war to put Jon to the Throne and take away her rights as they did to Aegon II and Rhaenyra.
one of the best things about dude is that he never takes credit for himself when he achieves something . he always respect us, the audience, and his team, and he is always polite in all of his video. we congratulate ourselves on this achievement more to come and everything to come""❤💛🧡💙
Let's we all just appreciate the content this man and his crew makes it's just a masterpiece imagine what's he's gonna doing the future ❤
I hope this channel never ends and keeps spreading happiness.❤😊
she knows everything and anything Rhaenyra is saying is dumb by default.
Rhaenyra proposing his son to marry her daughter someday was literally so pure. She really wanted to fix things with her ex best friend, despite everything 🖤#TeamBlack
I understand both position and why Alicent declined. These two makes me sad😮💨
No Alicent was right. It really was an act of desperation rather than a genuine desire to fix things.
No she didn't and it was pretty obvious. I mean maybe she does but the marriage proposal was actually because as alicent thought she was trying to stop alicent from poking at the fact that her sons are black haired and therefore not laenor's
It was anything but pure 😂 Alicent saw straight through her
Love that Rhaeneras line "Now they see you as who are!" Its gonna be epic of allies and enemies forming around..
The fact the Daemon & Rhaenyra both lose their lovers to fire in the same episode🔥 is such brilliant writing.
It was a sad episode and it felt like a new Pilot for the show. I think HOTD is going to get bigger than GOT . New actors are brilliant
Calm down cowboy, Games was a game changer for TV and House has a lot to prove before it's even a debate.
@Bishop Walters stronger season than GoT season 1 so far, cheers! (Just my opinion, before you pick up your pitchforks lol)
@Emperor God Doom That's incorrect.
@Bishop Walters nope
@Emperor God Doom Game Of Thrones 6 seasons in were untouchable but seasons 7 and 8 were hideous.
makes it's just a masterpiece imagine what's he's gonna doing the future I hope this channel never ends and keeps spreading happiness.
This next episode is going to be a banger. Not one bad episode in this entire series so far. Wonderful work.
I really like how they handled Laena’s death. In the books she gives birth but the child is malformed and dies an hour later. She does going to the beach to ride Vhagar one last time but collapses. Daemon then Carries her body back.
Emma D’Arcy is absolutely outstanding at their craft!! They owned the 6th episode
Hey, maybe you didn't know and that's totally fine, but Emma D'Arcy is non binary and uses they/them 😊
@Saturne oh thank you so much for letting me know. I'll correct myself
Brilliant episode to set the stage to the biggest gamechanging event in the history of Westeros and the Targs. Olivia and Emma ruled!😊
Lyonel Strong is my 2nd favorite Hand of the King after Davos. Loyal, intelligent and had his King’s and the realm’s best interests at heart. His only downside it seems were his sons….
We saw them taking two bodies out of Harrenhal. If he didn’t burn to death he could have easily died from smoke inhalation
i still didn't get it, Larys is his brother or son?
@The Great Bogy his youngest son
After this episode, came to my mind that i hated a certain character from the Fire And Blood book... It was Larys Strong
This series is going way way better than expected
Just slithering his way to the top
The rat that keeps showing up...it has to be Larys, right?
You somehow predicted a key moment🤣
@Awatierz I think the rat is a darker tease of what's to come. "Blood and cheese." ...
THIS SHOW F%CKING PHENOMENAL IN ITS FIRST EPISODES WHO WOULD THOUGHT OF THAT!!!
@eroi bior It sure is! :)
each episode gets better than the last. it’s absolutely nuts. my obsession with this show is UNREAL
These actresses are SLAYING it. Awesome show.
Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke owned their roles as Rhaenyra and Alicent. They will be magnificent for the rest of the season
Rest of the series*
Both fighting for their children to sit on the throne, Rhaernyra children deserves it, Alicent’s father was calculating from the start, they are indeed great actresses.
Still prefer milly and Emily but they were alright too
@Cliff Stevenson i disagree. Rhaenyra has no ferocity after the time skip. Alicint is just insufferably annoying. I guess that’s the point tho so i wont say she’s bad but i preferred the younger actor for Rhaenyra.
The new actress playing Rhaenyra is amazing. Her acting in the last episode was one of the best I've seen.
Episode 6 was incredible!
Impressive performance by Emma and Olivia👍👍
On Rhernarya and Alicent Time Skip!
That Opining scene was Phenomenal🔥🔥
"Now They See You As Your Are" They way she Delivered It is Magnificent
Olivia Cooke
Emma D'Arcy
Alicent
The show is jst giving Goosebumps in every episode. I wished they released all the episodes together
Would ruin the suspense
“I am very happy with what the HOTD team has achieved.” ~ George R.R Martin at SDCC Panel ❤
“Someone stole Vhagar” gave me chills.
Episode 7 is gonna be hype
This looks awesome. The show continues to get better and better.
Emma and Olivia were great replacement choices. The both nailed it❤️🐉
They were casted first though lol
Meh
They were not replacements tho
@S8 the Ninja Warrior interesting, and it kind of makes sense since they will appear in the vast majority of episodes 🙏☮️
The way this show always leaves me desperate for more. Cannot wait for what's to come.
So far one of the best first seasons of TV I've seen for a while.
Emma and Olivia are so phenomenal. Gave me chills.
This show just keeps getting better and better!
Excellent job by the older cast members, like gold medalist relay runners, the scripts have been handed over yet the quality remains 10/10
Fuck! Laena Velaryon was absolutely fire and blood. She wanted to die as a dragonrider, and as much as it pains Vhagar, she still did it. It was an emotional epic scene😢🔥
i was looking for this comment!
Huge respect towards Laena for being this tough when their marriage is at its weakest. And shame on Daemon (at the moment) for choosing to stay instead of going back to their original faction.
Isn’t fire supposed not to affect Valyrian people? Why did it kill Laena if she had Valyrian blood and was a dragon rider?
@Cristian Arellano regular fire. This is dragon fire
I knew it was coming, but I'm so sad we didn't get to see more of Harwin. I'm devastated
I really wish we had another episode with him. The Breakbones storyline would've been really great to see on the show. A good man crushed by the game of thrones.
I hope this channel never ends and keeps spreading happiness.❤😊
This vid is already a classic
I can't wait to tell my grandkids this was the greatest youtuber of my time.
I can't wait to see Vhagar and Aemond together, talk about a power couple right there
Rhaenyra really was her own greatest enemy. She had a crazy youth like so many of us, but the bitter truth is that she wasn't just someone else, she was a princess and heir to the throne. And in her position, every action had consequences.
This show keeps getting better and better.
@La Rochejaquelein No, Emma was casted way before milly
They were horrible. The originals were much better.
Absolute hype. The last episode was awesome. Larys is playing the perfect game.
Can't wait for this episode, one of the greatest show of all time.
Just better and better. Emma D'arcy and Olivia Cooke killed it tonight. Next week looks insane. "Now they see you as you are" Gave me chills.
This show just keeps getting better and better.
npc
@KrakenBoot agreed
Cris Craf how?
Just batter and butter with some mayo
I don't know what's better... On the one hand I want to binge this show so bad! But on the other hand I like not feeling empty so quick after finishing it and enjoying it little by little. So f good!
Leanas death by vhagar was a great change from the books, I'm glad she went out that way. In the books she died just trying to ride vhagar one last time.
Man, I love how this show is slowly becoming intense
Only a few episodes are done and this is easily the best running show rn.
people comparing it to rings of power are insane. This show is so much better
@Lasse Hedegaard i just found it weirdly cringey at times. I think the writing could’ve been a lot better
I like how this series is showing that despite Targaryens being famed for madness it's Alicent who's the one who will lose grip on reality
Daemon suffered the most in this episode. The man was living the quiet life: Being treated like a King, got to read his books in solitude, had a happy family and didn’t have to worry about the political games of Westeros. The man was finally free to live and all of that was taken from him with the dead of his wife.
Death*
"Happy family"
Nope
@Wilhelm They were actually, they even had a still of Daemon comfortinv and hugging his two daughters after their mother's death. In the books at least he was a good husband and father during this time.
@sms1511 the writers said that their marriage is crumbling and one of the daughter said that deamon doesn't even look at her.
@sms1511 that marriage wasn't rosey at all. Daemon and Leanor had separate desires. He still sought power whereas all she wanted was to head back to valerion ... He didn't even pay attention to his daughter. If that's your definition of happiness. Then you've got it narcissistically all tangled up
Emma and Olivia were amazing in this episode a really powerfull and strong arrival!!!
I am getting the exact same feeling for House of the dragon like I did when I saw Game of thrones for the first time and I love it!!
Finally Daemon and Rhaenyra getting together what we all waited for😌😌
I was glad to see the softer side of Daemon especially after the last few episodes. Show. Don't tell.
Now I can see Rhaenyra from the book on the big screen Emma D’Arcy is perfect for the role ..I didn't like the last 5 episodes but this one I love it
This episode was amazing!
Really gives u flashbacks to miguels directing style with the battle in season 6
On Ser Criston's bitterness: I won't be disappointed at all if the writers threw in a curve ball that Jace - Rhaenyra's 1st born - would turn out to be his. What a bomb that would be 😁
