@Idle Adventures 癒しの旅 Lord Buddha practiced meditation to get rid of desires and emotions and he attained emptiness or Nirvana (cessasion of all sufferings)
A child taking care of a child 🥺 And if Scara didn't need food or sleep, he was probably taking care of him around the clock. That child was everything to him.
this guys voice actor is absolutely insane. dont know who he is but i wanna shake this mans hand edit: also, they way he said "So i said good riddance! i denounce the world, and laugh in its face" gave my goosebumps goosebumps
@LensArt The multidimensional it doesn’t matter in here,in here he just show how many hatred of human and gods. And your artifacts still don’t show anything that he’s kindness being and he gonna blame anything with himself.
its really sad how his last straw was the death of a child and how he saw it as betrayal. it really shows that as a sentient artificial being who for some reason has human emotions, he didn’t understand how to process the grief and emotions he felt after their death leading him to snap and choosing to erase all his emotions instead. he was basically a kid that didn’t understand how to deal with all the negative things that was happening to him
@yuri😼 The difference is that Ei already knew right and wrong, but he still acted like a spoiled child. Now Scaramouche was practically a newborn speaker released into the world without any kind of deeper knowledge.
@Burnt Toast In my opinion I partly agree with him (on the issue of being abandoned by Ei). Even Nahida understood what the boy wanted, guidance. How do you give consciousness to a creature and just drop it out of nowhere?
With the last one, it reminds me of that scene from many anime when close person to the character died, he/she promise the character to go to this place, at this time, then well he/she was gone and the character said that this person is such a liar, he/she promise he/she'll do that. Ig, scaramouche had the same feeling. Also he is so lonely and doesn't know how to process all of this trauma, he has no one to rely on, only the boy is his last hope, no one was there for him and he thought the boy could be there for him to help him throught all of this but the boy couldn't. Trauma can make u become irrational, so he start blaming destiny and the mortal nature of human and feel betrayed by human several time.
so truly describes his POV personality completely , so bittersweet and all..Knew somethings up why he never care for leading some people has a hrbinger or the inazuma arc
Everybody mostly talking about the delivery of the word "mother" but WHAT ABOUT HIS SLIGHT CHUCKLE at 1:26 when he said he laughs at the world. THAT WAS SO GOOD!!!!!
The first: ei made him and left him the golden feather which proves his identity as her son The second: before niwa died, he told someone to give his heart to scara. But turns out it was his retainer’s heart. Scara felt like he was tricked and betrayed by niwa so he ripped it out from his chest. The third: scara and the boy made a promise to live together happily but the boy died of tatarigami.
@Star Quarzt Compare mine to the original comment’s? Theirs makes no sense, especially since Niwa didn’t ask for his heart to be given to Scaramouche. Dottore killed him because he was planning to go into the furnace himself. He took Niwa’s heart, and purposely lied about it to make Scaramouche feel betrayed.
Honestly, I can understand how he feels. He just exists, yet all these bad things keep happening to him for no reason. He trusts no one, purely because he's scared of being hurt and betrayed over and over again. He's lost, and he wants someone help him.
You can see that scaramouche acts and thinks like a child, he sees the world as black and white and the attempts to not hurt him or keep him safe as betrayel, he couldn't understand or cope with his grief só he saw the death of the child as a betrayel, same with Ei setting him free or his family sacrificing themselves for him. He clearly had the mentality of a child, new to the world that can't understand his emotions or what other people do
@ae from whats been speculated, the second person had a master that viewed scara as the abomination, not the person himself. he was killed in a fight w his master i think
i know all of us are crying over ''my mother'' and ''my friend'' but lets not sleep on ''HE BROKE HIS PROMISE TO ME.'' his voice actor did a fantastic job.
He was a "failure" because of his emotions that made his "mother" discard him, honestly, it's really sad. He's like a baby who's recently born, or a child who has never been taught by any parent. He was directly and immediately exposed to betrayals, abandonment, and loss. Imagine opening your eyes to the world and all you got was pain, not an ounce of love or guidance. :[ I heard he's playable, I hope he still retains his personality or something similar but at the same time I want him to be free from all his grief, experience the world with guidance and see the beautiful things.
Ei should be held responsible for her own actions, and so too should Scaramouche be held responsible for his own actions. Punishing Ei for the crimes personally committed by Scaramouche is absurd.
@laaaav that was actually heartbreaking, it doesn’t make him a good guy of course, but you don’t need to be a good guy to have feelings. i feel so bad for him really aaaaaaaaaa
@laaaav I see that. But Gnosis is also source of power too? I thought Vision is only the source of power. (Deep flashing back to La Signora took Venti's gnosis with deadly force)
scara seeing the electro gnosis be taken away from him is already a punishment, have you seen his reaction to nahida taking it away?? to him, having the gnosis is his purpose
Out of all the limited characters, his story and lore is the most complete. Hoyo has been sprinkling his lore since the beginning of the game until present. The best character to have a lore.
Ok but like that "my family, my friend" is so good. I'll never shut up about Katsuragi and Scara, I need more of their friendship. Edit: well, the theory has been disproven now. It is in fact Niwa, and no it isn't Katsuragi's surname.
Omg Patrick Pedraza did an amazing job voicing Scaramouche! The way he said “my mother” was so heartbreaking. I love the way his voice gradually became angrier and loathsome after each “betrayal.” He’s definitely one of my fave VAs in Genshin rn.
Isn't it interesting how Ei wasn't able to deal with her grief and Scara has the same problem? I hope they will meet and talk it out but I guess that would take the drama out of their story. Scara needs help but he turned to the wrong people.
0:38 love the way he adds tone when he says *Human* :like he doesn't think much of them, and then *family* :remembers something from past/ kinda nostalgic in a way and the *friend* : when recalls the betrayals
Coming back to this after 3.3, and wow. It's even more sad now that we know more about what happened. I still can't believe that guy is Niwa and not Katsuragi. For the longest time we've thought Niwa wasn't a person and it was Katsuragi's family name lmao.
@[HaDeS)(X) Scara (Kabukimono) met a man named Niwa in Tatarasuna and they became very good friends One day, a man from Fontaine named Escher came to 'improve the forging qualities' and told the people they should use Crystal Marrow for the furnace But that was a bad idea and the furnace let out dangerous black smoke Since niwa was the highest authority in Tatarasuna, he was forced to tell no one in the village about what happened. The furnace could only be fixed if someone goes into the furnace and stop it, but you would die doing that. Niwa wanted to sacrifice himself. Scara knew Niwa needed help, and went to Inazuma City to ask Raiden for help, but she was replaced with a puppet already and didn't wanna talk to scara. So instead, Yae Miko came, and told scara to send help to Tatarasuna The help came, but no one in the village knew about the problem and Escher said everything is fine, Niwa fled out of fear and left the village, and scara went into the furnace to fix everything. But that was a lie, and Escher actually killed Niwa and put his heart into a device to fix the furnace. With it, Scara went into the furnace and actually survived. Scara asked Escher, what was in the device? Escher lied and said Niwa killed a random person for a heart and fled the village, but the truth is it was Niwa's heart that saved scara. Scara felt betrayed because Niwa let him go into the furnace instead and abandoned him by leaving the village Escher lied all the time, because actually, he was Dottore. Since everyone in the village thought Niwa betrayed them, the blame fell to the second highest authority (Nagamasa) So Nagamasa should get punished and be killed. Katsuragi, who always served Nagamasa, took the death punishment onto himself and let Nagamasa kill him instead. (I hope I got everything right)
This is truly one of the best cutscenes I have ever seen in Genshin. They way every betrayal progressively breaks Scara, and then delivers the emotional gut punch. We empathize with him, yet are also able to understand his incomprehension towards emotions through the presentation. It’s simply brilliant. Not to mention the delivery. This cutscene single-handedly made me fall in love with the character that I was pretty indifferent about. Amazing.
I love scara so much and knew his lore even before this, but NOTHING could've prepared me for this scene. all the emotions, the music, the intensity... The VA did an amazing job as always, he portrayed Scaras emotions so well, especially during the "...my mother" part
When you find a voice actor that absolutely brings a character to life ;-;. I almost started crying when he said "my mother". The sheer agony in his voice 😭
The way he said 0:28 "My mother.." and the way he said "My....friend..." was so good!!! His voice actor did a really good job at portraying all the grief, and pain, he went through. you can sense all his emotions by just listing to his voice!
You can hear how "my... mother" is filled with sadness, whereas "my... friend" sounds disappointed instead of sad. It's a really nice detail, and great voice acting.
I wasn't in Scara's huge fanclub and was kinda neutral, but THAT voice acting and (and beautiful visualization) did a thing for me, I really start to get into his character Genshin recruited some pearls recently in terms of VA - Cyno, Dottore, Scara made me speechless with their voices (same thing happend for me with Dottore - va and some sick design made me actually interested in an already well known character i was neutral about before)
I'll never forget this cutscene. I love it sm. The voice acting, the music, the animation, the feelings this cutscene has in general is incredible. I love him sm.
Coming back to this again and I still appreciate everything as much as I did the first time, if not more. I'm so happy that he's finally becoming playable!! I can't believe after all this time, we only have a few days left until we have him in our team.
Sir Patrick Pedraza THE Scaramouche!! Never misses, never fails, he shines much too brightly here! Also people are SLEEPING on the “...he broke his promise to me!” because THAT WHOLE SCENE, the dialogue, the visuals, the tone of the music shifting and the editing was PERFECT! I felt like... I FELT.
The way his tone changed when he said "....my mother" 0:27, I felt that, really my heart broke pleaseee. We finally saw his most awaited backstory; even the death of the child he thought was a betrayal caused he didn't keep his promise, then he finally snapped. It's so heartbreaking. Scaramouche was so gentle and innocent with those smiles I cry. This cutscene is just full of emotions, the music, the art and VA really delivered i'm speechless.
scara's voice actor did SUCH an amazing job going from emotion to emotion in such a short amount of time. he truly took us on a journey from scara's beginning to the present!
I don't really like most English voice actors but my lord I love Patrick voice, he actually sounds like he's in the game and not playing a character. The emotion and little chuckle "and laughed in its face...." is amazing
I love all American voice actors cause its tough being a voice actor. You really don’t know the steps to become a voice actor its a rough job. Its not easy.
Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? Caught in a landside, No escape from reality Open your eyes, Look up to the skies and see, I'm just a poor boy, I need no sympathy, Because I'm easy come, easy go, Little high, little low, Any way the wind blows doesn't really matter to Me, to me Mamaaa, Just killed a man, Put a gun against his head, pulled my trigger, Now he's dead Mamaaa, life had just begun, But now I've gone and thrown it all away Mama, oooh, Didn't mean to make you cry, If I'm not back again this time tomorrow, Carry on, carry on as if nothing really matters Too late, my time has come, Sends shivers down my spine, body's aching all The time Goodbye, everybody, I've got to go, Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth Mama, oooh I don't want to die, I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all. I see a little silhouetto of a man, Scaramouch, Scaramouch, will you do the Fandango! Thunderbolts and lightning, very, very frightening me Galileo, Galileo Galileo, Galileo Galileo, Figaro - magnificoo I'm just a poor boy nobody loves me He's just a poor boy from a poor family, Spare him his life from this monstrosity Easy come, easy go, will you let me go Bismillah! His voice actor did such a good job, how he went from heartbreak to pure evil, the breathing placement, and the way the said “my mother” was so heartbreaking LIKE BRO I NEED HIM
man the voice acting is so good i really can’t stop watching this over and over again, the delivery of the lines with emotion in EVERY WORD.. i feel it in my whole chest. thank you patrick pedraza for your amazing work🙏
It's take for me some time to notice that Scara is basically Frankenstein Creation from books. Made only to achive "creation of creature" and that's all. Then he was abandoned by his Master. He met a lot of peoples, but at the end his heart become dark after all sad things that happend...
I love the voice acting T0T. Scaramouche is actually the main reason why I got into genshin. His character, even though we didn't know much about him a year ago, was so interesting and I think the mystery behind him is the best part and it's why so many people adore him. Plus, the way he described the people from his past is _sooo_ heart-breaking and it really made us feel like he was just a discarded doll, a disappointing child of an iron-fist mother. This cutscene really showed us how he viewed the world and I believe a lot more people learnt to appreciate him as an antagonist. My heart still hurts knowing that he's still being used but maybe he realizes that but just refuses to acknowledge it because he's probably using it as leverage to get revenge, I think... which leads me to believe that he was actually talking to Ei in the last part where he said, "Your era... is coming to an end." GOOSEBUMPS I DONT KNOW IF IM MAKING SENSE ANYMORE ITS SO INTERESTING OMG
Anyone who don't know about the 2nd betrayal... It is the lore behind the weapon Katsuragikiri Nagamasa... The craftable 4* claymore in Inazuma. It's a quite sad one too. And 3rd one is just a kid he met who was cursed and died
@Yaya who’s American? 😄you really need to have reality check that a mere opinion doesn’t mean it’s a fact. It’s a freaking subjective thing saying jp >>> eng wwww stay mad.
I put on headphones and took a closer listen. In the first few seconds I could hear the pain and sadness is his voice. It wasn't all that subtle, either. Then, I could hear a slight bit of hopelessness and then anger, after anger, I could hear evil. WHY IS THE VOICE ACTOR SO GOOD?
Ever since the "Inversion of Genesis", my thoughts about this cutscene have changed A LOT, yet every ounce of pain I felt ever since I first saw it still remained up 'til now
@Jarl Balgruuf so u have no valid criticism and think ur the main character but calling me a child who legit explained to u why his character is good? lmao okay
glad they’re focusing on scara now because he really does have an interesting backstory. His story has to be one of my favorites and to see it being brought into the main story more often now is amazing. Glad people are coming to understand his character more with the release of this and are starting to sympathize with him because he really is a tragic character. I’ve seen a few people go from haters to understanding him to even crying for him and liking him. I can’t wait for his story to be explored more because he deserves it. Props to Patrick because he really brought scara to life with his voice, I absolutely admire scara’s voice in eng.
I keep coming back to this and God I think my love for this cutscene grows even more each time I rewatch it. Also the fact that u can see tear stains on his face at some parts ugh I love him.
This is probably one of my favourite scenes in the whole of Genshin. His facial expression at 1:13, he looks so traumatized, no wonder he turned out the way he is, his backstory is so tragic
@I need Scaratits Ei was deathly afraid that Inazuma would end up like Khaenriah. Her goal in creating Scara and the Shogun was to have an eternal leader that, unlike her, would never suffer erosion. She was extremely misguided and destructive from her grief and trauma but I wouldn't call her selfish. She had good intentions and thought she was doing what was the best for her nation.
@Shikiira you missed the point we're talking about how venti helped xiao in his karmic debt in which xiao is both insane and emotionless just like bosacius who cant even remember his name xiao is alsto turning mindless until venti helped him
@That Person Who Didnt Get The Joke It's pretty obvious that Xiao suffers from survivors guilt... so he actually kinda does. You can still be emotionally driven when repressing emotions. Xiao feels so much guilt about being the sole survivor of his fellow yakshas and feels responsible for their deaths and many others. It's why he insists on his suicide mission to find out what happened to Bodacious. The entire quest was about valuing your own life over sacrificing yourself to save others. That you can protect people without giving up everything, something Xiao struggles with. Even if Xiao didn't have any karmic debt, he'd still push others away because he believes his actions and his job will only endanger others. Even in his very voicelines, this is evident. "See me as a weapon and nothing more." He has so little value in himself that he thinks himself nothing more than a tool. If this doesn't define a someone emotionally insecure and self deprecated I don't know what does. Another thing to note, because he pushes others away, he's socially awkward, he feels insecure about talking to people. He also is very concious around crowds and believes that he might not be able to control his tongue in front of others. This is made a point in his teapot lines where he mentioned that he'll try to talk very little. Case and point...Xiao is emotionally influenced and is too much of a self conscious recluse to admit it.
@Chosen Bot Zhongli did NOT want Xiao to go, Xiao demanded to go. Zhongli went there to save him in case Xiao needed saving. you have that story totally backwards.
He has to be protected both physically and emotionally, he should have never have to be hurt again even if he hurts others or kills Ei. He is just so precious❤
Мне его очень жаль... Он лишь закрыл своë сердце ото всех, вытравил всю доброту, что была в нëм... Он хотел, чтоб больше никто не моог предать его вечности....
The way he said “My mother…” truly shows that he wasn’t just a cruel shell of a personality.. he really had emotions! I’m super excited for his upcoming story quests, it’s going to be gold!
I dont remember where, but raiden once told us that she had to let go of scaramouche because he was too emotional for her (since she wanted an emotionless puppet which could do her work like the shogun). So he was kind of a "failed experiment".
I lost count of how many times I rewatched this, but one thing I know for sure is that the delivery of each line never ceases to amaze me no matter how many times I hear it. The music is also as amazing as the first time I heard it. I really love this cutscene
When he says "My creator... My mother..." it make me cry I understand how sad he is when he lost everything I hope Traveller can open his eyes and let he see he/she is his new friend, his new life
One of the best cutscenes in the game. When the music at 1:18 matches the tone of his feelings and the flames resembling his cataclysmic awakening. So chilling. The lines were perfectly delivered.
Agreed!!!! The visuals, music and voice acting were AMAZING!!! I was really immersed. Thought this cutscene was initially weird and came about so suddenly. But when the plot explained about its relevance, i was amazed!!! Hope the storytelling stays this good or gets even better
Wow, this was written in such a poetic manner, I'm in awe. I would like to also mention that the translator of the Spanish subtitles did an amazing job in conveying meaning. Love everything about this Story Teaser 💕
@Otaku-chan You are misinterpreting things. Scara is not a child, and he wasn't born. Scara is a mechanical puppet that was created, not born by the Electro Archon. I understand the significance of moral values, but that is a quality unique to human society. Ei is a God and a sitting Archon. She has no obligation to worry about a 'moral code'.
@Antiquus Custos really? would you say it was "compassion" to have a child, then abandon it because it's not of the 'use' she expected? The key here is responsibility. Creating life is a huge commitment, moral values state that if you're going to bring someone into the world (be it your child, a pet, or a sentient creature who can feel pain) then you must ensure that they at least don't suffer just for being born. Of course, Ei was pursuing stasis and didn't have the time for moral values. Scara was a lot like her in that his response to too much grief was "shut it all down".
@Here's Johnny!Ei abandoning him made it more likely for him to become evil and sick. I can understand where his anger and dissatisfaction comes from. But truth told, he always was the master of his own fate. Nobody *forced* him to be evil. He chose to be evil. Why do I think that? Because there are plenty of people who have been abandoned and "betrayed", and yet they still persevere to remain being good. Scaramouche was weak, and he decided to go through life the easy way - yield to evil. Staying good and strong despite the bad things is very challenging. He didn't have the strength to overcome such challenges.
@Antiquus Custos the "whys" he is "evil and sick" is the very thing you're deliberately ignoring. You can lie to yourself and say Ei has no responsibility, but it won't make that true 👍👍👍
When i first saw the cutscene, my jaw dropped!!! I was amazed!!! The music, visuals and voice acting made me so immersed!!!!! Hope the good storytelling continues
Even though Scaramouche is not Ei’s son I feel like he is the manifestation of Ei’s emotions and anger. Ei lost everyone she loved and became friends with locking her emotions away. Her son was betrayed by everyone he loved including Ei herself and locked away his emotions as well, but now has a strong desire to just see the world burn. Ei sought to protect the world still but pushed everyone away in the process.
This scene legit gave me goosebumps all over, and the way he says mother, oh goodness😭 scara’s voice actor did so well and amazing job to the animators and rest of the genshin impact team! You guys outdid yourselves on this one🫶🏻 Keep up the great work!!
Sad part is all these "betrayal" Are just misunderstanding on his part. Ei just wants him to be free, not sure with the 2nd(but i'm sure it's also misunderstanding) and the 3rd was just him can't comprehend human's nature. He represents complete innocence, how it's like if newly born baby thrown out into harsh world the moment they're born
The first was a betrayal technically because it's only her view as 'freedom' which it hardly was because she put in him in a slumber and abandoned him and didn't tell him anything. No it wasn't out of the goodness out her heart she just chose not to kill him which she shouldn't be praised for. She also doesn't actually care for him she just feels slight guilt and doesn't see him as a familial connection. The second was a misunderstanding I think scara told kazhuas ancestor about his story then something happened making scara think he hates him. The third implies betrayal since there was a 'promise' so feels betrayed by mortality than the kid directly
I admit that I never liked him, but his backstory is so tragic. The way he said "my mother" right before he get abandoned just Heartwrenching to say the least. Even then he tried to form bonds, twice, and he lose both of them. Now i can understand why he became so cruel and callous. He felt that the world keeps on betraying him.
@Ae hello This! It was not the guy shown there, that was his dear friend who was killed! Also he is ancestor to kazuha! Thats why he didnt kill kazuha’s grandfather :) Also! The reason why he hold a grudge agains blacksmiths families from inazuma was because the person who killed and betrayed both him and his friend was also a blacksmith!
@Light Check Sude he is just a kid without guidance in life. He was born, discarded by his mother and then ABANDONED to his own luck without any education. No one was there to tell him that he was just unlucky, BECAUSE HIS FAMILY ABANDONED HIM.
@dhaniya I have a feeling Dottore has messed with his memories to make him think they all betrayed him since he's been tinkering with him to shape him into a god.
Information for my English fellow speaker: Gnosis is called "god's heart" in Chinese. That's why Scaramoche is obsessed with gnosis, because he was created to contain the "god's heart" but then he was set free and he had no "heart".
The way he pronounced "my mother" is heartbreaking
0:27
Va had bills to pay
Although I can’t hug u now my son We love u.
@Lydia WIAT WHAT
@Hare Krishna ok?
scaramouche: "I will scrub away every last trace of human emotion"
also scaramouche: *has the most emotional voice in the game*
REAL
@Idle Adventures 癒しの旅 Lord Buddha practiced meditation to get rid of desires and emotions and he attained emptiness or Nirvana (cessasion of all sufferings)
@Idle Adventures 癒しの旅 wrong, Lord Buddha did it
@Idle Adventures 癒しの旅 nahh u exposed me
Only after Itto, English VA for Itto
0:55 it’s interesting that Scaramouche also thought of himself as a child
“exactly like me” “a fledgling barely out of the nest”
Poor baby
A child taking care of a child 🥺
And if Scara didn't need food or sleep, he was probably taking care of him around the clock. That child was everything to him.
An orphan, to be exact.
Scaramouche was viewing himself as a child who was abandonned by his mother.
this guys voice actor is absolutely insane. dont know who he is but i wanna shake this mans hand
edit: also, they way he said "So i said good riddance! i denounce the world, and laugh in its face" gave my goosebumps goosebumps
@bug yup. 😊
Come on boi so you want to shake a good voice actor hand ?
patrick pedraza i think
Thank you for all the support. ❤
AAWWW
@Lena DAMN STOP IT
dude your did sooooo good on scara
@naomzikku ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
and thank YOU for being one of my fav va's and an awesome person in general.
Funny thing, he didn't hate these three people. He hated his own weakness.
@LensArt Talking with foolish people is pointless. They are too ignorant and immature to understand. In any case, I applaud your tenacity!
@LensArt you wasted so much time talking to a wall 🤣
@LensArt The multidimensional it doesn’t matter in here,in here he just show how many hatred of human and gods. And your artifacts still don’t show anything that he’s kindness being and he gonna blame anything with himself.
@LensArt This part doesn’t show about anything with Artifact. In this two videos are clearly clear show he hate the three, that’s it.
its really sad how his last straw was the death of a child and how he saw it as betrayal. it really shows that as a sentient artificial being who for some reason has human emotions, he didn’t understand how to process the grief and emotions he felt after their death leading him to snap and choosing to erase all his emotions instead. he was basically a kid that didn’t understand how to deal with all the negative things that was happening to him
and he has a soft spot for children!! so it probably broke him badly 🙁🙁🙁
Ikrrr!!! Props to his voice actor for making such incredible deliveries.
yeah, his voice broke multiple times that sentence
I fkin KNOW RIGHTTT
The first: ei made him and left him the golden feather which proves his identity as her son
The second: before niwa died, he told someone to give his heart to scara.
@Lemural how was it wrong?
@Star Quarzt What do you mean how?
@Lemural how?
I hate Ei 💀
Honestly, I can understand how he feels. He just exists, yet all these bad things keep happening to him for no reason. He trusts no one, purely because he's scared of being hurt and betrayed over and over again. He's lost, and he wants someone help him.
You can see that scaramouche acts and thinks like a child, he sees the world as black and white and the attempts to not hurt him or keep him safe as betrayel, he couldn't understand or cope with his grief só he saw the death of the child as a betrayel, same with Ei setting him free or his family sacrificing themselves for him. He clearly had the mentality of a child, new to the world that can't understand his emotions or what other people do
@ae from whats been speculated, the second person had a master that viewed scara as the abomination, not the person himself. he was killed in a fight w his master i think
the person from his “second betrayal” do you know the lore of that? if so, can you tell me? cuz idk lol
i know all of us are crying over ''my mother'' and ''my friend'' but lets not sleep on ''HE BROKE HIS PROMISE TO ME.'' his voice actor did a fantastic job.
His voice actor did an amazing job with the voice acting, you could feel every bit of emotion in his lines
@Shuwa he was betrsyed by his friend, the guy in the cutscene killed katsuragi & after he found ouf he wasn’t human he was scared of scara
PrismalPink Art you know that is subjective
yea
Thanks paimon
Which is really funny since Scara is trying to rid all of his emotions
He was a "failure" because of his emotions that made his "mother" discard him, honestly, it's really sad. He's like a baby who's recently born, or a child who has never been taught by any parent. He was directly and immediately exposed to betrayals, abandonment, and loss. Imagine opening your eyes to the world and all you got was pain, not an ounce of love or guidance. :[
I heard he's playable, I hope he still retains his personality or something similar but at the same time I want him to be free from all his grief, experience the world with guidance and see the beautiful things.
Ei should be held responsible for her own actions, and so too should Scaramouche be held responsible for his own actions. Punishing Ei for the crimes personally committed by Scaramouche is absurd.
Traveler is gonna get rid of that pain and greif
"My creator... My mother..." AHHHH, THIS IS THE BEST, I'M CRYING WHEN HE SAID IT, it's so heartbreaking.
Imagine when playing co-op the phrase when you get to low HP he will say something like “No, not again!” Like he is afraid of losing he’s only friend
Well... what we got was pretty much the opposite lmao
Well he says
Worthless as expected
Yes.
HOYOVERSE WRITE THIS DOWNN!!
Imagine his death voice line is "we will be together... again..." ahhh just thinking about it makes me so sad
Ok but like that "my family, my friend" is so good. I'll never shut up about Katsuragi and Scara, I need more of their friendship.
Edit: well, the theory has been disproven now. It is in fact Niwa, and no it isn't Katsuragi's surname.
@Leehae we didn't know that until 3.3, for a long time it was speculated that Niwa was a family name and Katsuragi was a Niwa.
That was Niwa though?
Omg Patrick Pedraza did an amazing job voicing Scaramouche! The way he said “my mother” was so heartbreaking. I love the way his voice gradually became angrier and loathsome after each “betrayal.” He’s definitely one of my fave VAs in Genshin rn.
@☆ Clotted cream cookie ☆ why are you referring to yourself in 3rd person?
Layla 🅥 no thanks
I know his voice actor is the best! 💜🛐
RELEASE THE RAINBOWS - alternate scaramouche somewhere
@Jesus Saves! just keep doing what God has ordained you to do. ^^ Be blessed.
SPOILER ALERT IF YOU HAVEN'T COMPLETED THE 3.3 ARCHON QUEST
gosh, after completing it, seeing all of this in depth in the game hurts more😭😭
@avid reader Raiden is more guilty that Dottore.
I was soo hurt after I found that the frikin FATUI DID THIS TO THEIR OWN COMRADE , but it it the fatui 😭
Right, it was already sad but after 3.3 it's even more sad.
@avid readerI swear every time I see Dottore my skin crawls. He makes me soooo sick.
Genshin is doing a great job with their villains
Isn't it interesting how Ei wasn't able to deal with her grief and Scara has the same problem? I hope they will meet and talk it out but I guess that would take the drama out of their story. Scara needs help but he turned to the wrong people.
I’ve watched this like 10 times and bawled every time 😭😭I’m saving everything for when this boy comes home
@Kezia F.P yes! He was level 90 instantly
Did you get him?
Same! Let all Scara-wanters be Scara-havers!
0:38 love the way he adds tone when he says
*Human* :like he doesn't think much of them, and then
*family* :remembers something from past/ kinda nostalgic in a way
and the
*friend* : when recalls the betrayals
Coming back to this after 3.3, and wow. It's even more sad now that we know more about what happened. I still can't believe that guy is Niwa and not Katsuragi. For the longest time we've thought Niwa wasn't a person and it was Katsuragi's family name lmao.
@[HaDeS)(X) Scara (Kabukimono) met a man named Niwa in Tatarasuna and they became very good friends
One day, a man from Fontaine named Escher came to 'improve the forging qualities' and told the people they should use Crystal Marrow for the furnace
But that was a bad idea and the furnace let out dangerous black smoke
Since niwa was the highest authority in Tatarasuna, he was forced to tell no one in the village about what happened.
So instead, Yae Miko came, and told scara to send help to Tatarasuna
The help came, but no one in the village knew about the problem and Escher said everything is fine, Niwa fled out of fear and left the village, and scara went into the furnace to fix everything.
Scara felt betrayed because Niwa let him go into the furnace instead and abandoned him by leaving the village
Escher lied all the time, because actually, he was Dottore.
Since everyone in the village thought Niwa betrayed them, the blame fell to the second highest authority (Nagamasa)
So Nagamasa should get punished and be killed.
Katsuragi, who always served Nagamasa, took the death punishment onto himself and let Nagamasa kill him instead.
(I hope I got everything right)
Can you told me the story ,i didn't understand very will ,the Japanese name so hard to remember
man his voice actor did such a great job!! the breathing placement?? the emphasis?? switch from heartbreak to pure evil??
kzclip.org/video/-3DyBTUfPsc/бейне.html Finally it’s here
This is truly one of the best cutscenes I have ever seen in Genshin.
Amazing.
The way he said "my mother" make my heart tear in pieces💔
I love scara so much and knew his lore even before this, but NOTHING could've prepared me for this scene. all the emotions, the music, the intensity... The VA did an amazing job as always, he portrayed Scaras emotions so well, especially during the "...my mother" part
@Chūya Nakahara
@Chūya Nakahara почему сапом? Источниками сказано, что он дпс, то есть дд
@Mekoon & Eyku yeah
You can hear how "my... mother" is filled with sadness, whereas "my... friend" sounds disappointed instead of sad. It's a really nice detail, and great voice acting.
Je suis français et vu qu’il n’y a pas de vf je ne pas ressentir tout ça. génial non ? Merci hoyoverse
the way he talks sounds like he gets a little sad
@Vincent man they were just sharing their thoughts on a few voice lines they quoted, your acting like bro quoted the entire video 🧍
I wasn't in Scara's huge fanclub and was kinda neutral, but THAT voice acting and (and beautiful visualization) did a thing for me, I really start to get into his character
Genshin recruited some pearls recently in terms of VA - Cyno, Dottore, Scara made me speechless with their voices (same thing happend for me with Dottore - va and some sick design made me actually interested in an already well known character i was neutral about before)
I'll never forget this cutscene.
Yes
mmmm
@Nikyu OMG mommy issues 🤣😂
the way he said "my mother" was so sad :(
The way he says "my mother..." omg
I don't really like most English voice actors but my lord I love Patrick voice, he actually sounds like he's in the game and not playing a character. The emotion and little chuckle "and laughed in its face...." is amazing
I love all American voice actors cause its tough being a voice actor. You really don’t know the steps to become a voice actor its a rough job. Its not easy.
Do I hate this man? absolutely. Do I nearly cry every time I hear him say "my mother"? Yes, yes I do. You did good with this one Mihoyo
Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landside,
No escape from reality
Open your eyes,
Look up to the skies and see,
I'm just a poor boy, I need no sympathy,
Because I'm easy come, easy go,
Little high, little low,
Any way the wind blows doesn't really matter to
Me, to me
Mamaaa,
Just killed a man,
Put a gun against his head, pulled my trigger,
Now he's dead
Mamaaa, life had just begun,
But now I've gone and thrown it all away
Mama, oooh,
Didn't mean to make you cry,
If I'm not back again this time tomorrow,
Carry on, carry on as if nothing really matters
Too late, my time has come,
Sends shivers down my spine, body's aching all
The time
Goodbye, everybody, I've got to go,
Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth
Mama, oooh
I don't want to die,
I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all.
I see a little silhouetto of a man,
Scaramouch, Scaramouch, will you do the Fandango!
Thunderbolts and lightning, very, very frightening me
Galileo, Galileo
Galileo, Galileo
Galileo, Figaro - magnificoo
I'm just a poor boy nobody loves me
He's just a poor boy from a poor family,
Spare him his life from this monstrosity
Easy come, easy go, will you let me go
Bismillah! No, we will not let you go
(Let him go!) Bismillah! We will not let you go
(Let him go!) Bismillah! We will not let you go
(Let me go) Will not let you go
(Let me go)(Never) Never let you go
(Let me go) (Never) let you go (Let me go) Ah
No, no, no, no, no, no, no
Oh mama mia, mama mia, mama mia, let me go
Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me, for me,
For meee
So you think you can stop me and spit in my eye
So you think you can love me and leave me to die
Oh, baby, can't do this to me, baby,
Just gotta get out, just gotta get right outta here
Nothing really matters, Anyone can see,
Nothing really matters,
Nothing really matters to me
Any way the wind blows...
Everything about this cutscene is incredible. The voice acting, the emotions, the animation, the story, the music, everything is wonderful.
Going back here after 3.3 quest makes everything clear now. AND GOD AM I CRYING SO HARD AGAIN
@Kcfilomeno Oh thanks. I knew the story from the Archon quest 😅 just not the animation
@Karo Yellow this appeared in 3.1, Chapter 3, Act 3 Archon quest~
Then 3.3 Interlude quest just gave out all the answers about this video.
Did the sequence appear in the game? If yes, where?😭 I didn't see it
His voice actor did such a good job, how he went from heartbreak to pure evil, the breathing placement, and the way the said “my mother” was so heartbreaking LIKE BRO I NEED HIM
@♡ Spooks Subs𓂃੭ Thank you. 😊
@Patrick Pedraza you’re so amazing just know I’m fighting the urge to wish on Yae Miko’s banner for scaramouche you did such an Amazing job.
This man needs some serious counseling
@Patrick Pedraza hello sandy
@Magic♡ Utopia thanks. Will do my best. ❤️😊
Соглашусь с английскими комментами, то как он сказал "моей матерью" Просто разорвало мне сердце и душу 😭💔
man the voice acting is so good i really can’t stop watching this over and over again, the delivery of the lines with emotion in EVERY WORD.. i feel it in my whole chest. thank you patrick pedraza for your amazing work🙏
Now coming back to this after the teaser, i can literary understand it better than before.
Now coming back after finishing the interlude quest and it hurts a whole lot more than it did before.
My heart still hurts knowing that he's still being used but maybe he realizes that but just refuses to acknowledge it because he's probably using it as leverage to get revenge, I think... which leads me to believe that he was actually talking to Ei in the last part where he said, "Your era... is coming to an end."
GOOSEBUMPS I DONT KNOW IF IM MAKING SENSE ANYMORE ITS SO INTERESTING OMG
Give Patrick Pedraza an Oscar for this high quality voice acting... his delviery gave me chills.
It was good, but not that much
@Pichu Elric he's a real actor too
@Pichu Elric Now imagine Scaramuche as a carebear... I can't unsee it.
@Zak1999 He plays a WHAT
@Pichu Elric He plays a carebear and Sandy from brawl star
Anyone who don't know about the 2nd betrayal... It is the lore behind the weapon Katsuragikiri Nagamasa... The craftable 4* claymore in Inazuma.
It's a quite sad one too.
And 3rd one is just a kid he met who was cursed and died
Когда он говорил:
-my creator...my mother...
мое сердце ушло в пятки...
'The first to betray me was a God, My Creator... My Mother'
7 yrs old me when mom picked me 2 hrs late after school.
this is literally the most beautiful, heart-wrenching, shiver inducing character arc i have watched so far. genshin has my soul in a tight grip
I really didn't expect this cutscene and it came out of nowhere even though it pierced right through the heart with all the emotion it was carrying.
Gods his VOICE when he said "my mother" 😭😭😭
Scara's VA is insane omg
The music paired with this is also friggin amazing wth
@Yaya ya ya sure go on, hope these seiyuus will pay you for defending them. 👍
@Nadhiene you're mad because JP > EN and that's a fact not a matter of opinion.
Stay mad.
@Yaya who’s American? 😄you really need to have reality check that a mere opinion doesn’t mean it’s a fact. It’s a freaking subjective thing saying jp >>> eng wwww stay mad.
@Yaya still nope lol.
Congratulations Wanderer for having one of the most beautiful lore
I put on headphones and took a closer listen. In the first few seconds I could hear the pain and sadness is his voice. It wasn't all that subtle, either. Then, I could hear a slight bit of hopelessness and then anger, after anger, I could hear evil. WHY IS THE VOICE ACTOR SO GOOD?
and loneliness
Ever since the "Inversion of Genesis", my thoughts about this cutscene have changed A LOT, yet every ounce of pain I felt ever since I first saw it still remained up 'til now
This cutscene was it for me. I cried after it. The VA did absolutely amazing with capturing emotion, especially when Scara said “my mother” 💔
Patrick Padraza deserves a raise
his voice actor really nailed it, you can feel the emotions thorugh the screen. the way he said 'my mother' got me crying.
cringe
@Jarl Balgruuf so u have no valid criticism and think ur the main character but calling me a child who legit explained to u why his character is good? lmao okay
@dvzai nobody said otherwise?
@Ian go back to your coloring books child.
@Red Scenery sounded lol
If you find good quality stuff let me know cuz this ain't it
This hurts even more (if that's possible) after the 3.2 Archon quest, I'm really looking forward to seeing what they'll do with him next.
glad they’re focusing on scara now because he really does have an interesting backstory.
The word 'my mother' only could bring me into tears. Standing ovation to the EN VA, definitely my fav EN VA
Like Mother like Son, the two reacted in an extreme way due to grief.
"See me as a weapon and nothing more."
He has so little value in himself that he thinks himself nothing more than a tool.
Zhongli went there to save him in case Xiao needed saving. you have that story totally backwards.
mmmmm
He has to be protected both physically and emotionally, he should have never have to be hurt again even if he hurts others or kills Ei. He is just so precious❤
His VA did so good because you can hear the emotion. Especially when he said “my mother.” He sounded so sad because he thinks he was abandoned
as someone who wants to have a career in voice acting when i'm older, this is genuinely some of the best voice acting i've ever heard
Мне его очень жаль... Он лишь закрыл своë сердце ото всех, вытравил всю доброту, что была в нëм... Он хотел, чтоб больше никто не моог предать его вечности....
You can’t deny Scaramouche’s ENG VA is one of the bests
The way he said “My mother…” truly shows that he wasn’t just a cruel shell of a personality.. he really had emotions! I’m super excited for his upcoming story quests, it’s going to be gold!
@aqvanii Agreed, i feel so bad for him haha
@yuulfuji oh it was yae, i forgot sorry haha
And yeah it is....
@aqvanii I think Yae Miko tells you, its super sad :(
I dont remember where, but raiden once told us that she had to let go of scaramouche because he was too emotional for her (since she wanted an emotionless puppet which could do her work like the shogun).
So he was kind of a "failed experiment".
Agreed! It genuinely made me tear up
And this is so why I love Genshin this is storytelling, this art it’s wonderful
Easily the most compelling character in the game to date
No joke, his va just did a amazing Job. Its so good. And the Ost in the background fits it perfectly. Love it
I lost count of how many times I rewatched this, but one thing I know for sure is that the delivery of each line never ceases to amaze me no matter how many times I hear it. The music is also as amazing as the first time I heard it. I really love this cutscene
When he says "My creator... My mother..." it make me cry
I understand how sad he is when he lost everything
I hope Traveller can open his eyes and let he see he/she is his new friend, his new life
One of the best cutscenes in the game.
Especially the "...So I said good riddance" part just hit different
kzclip.org/video/hB1iJULTTUU/бейне.html Finally it’s here
Honestly, couldn’t think of a better VA for Scaramouche, Patrick just nails it so well here!
Wow, this was written in such a poetic manner, I'm in awe. I would like to also mention that the translator of the Spanish subtitles did an amazing job in conveying meaning. Love everything about this Story Teaser 💕
Kid: dies
Scaramouche: "and I took that personally"
The way he says "My mother" has so much pain in it, it actually made me cry
ah yes i love how we collectively agree love scara's VA is perfect & the way he talks about his past has the perfect bout of emotions we need
“My mother” and “So I said good riddance!” actually changed me as a person. His voice acting in this scene gave me so many feels, good job!
@Tired Asexual_ tism
@Jarl Balgruuf not you proving my point LMAO
@Tired Asexual_ you're* 😭😭😭
mmmm
@Jarl Balgruuf imagine thinking your better just cuz they speak differently than you😭😭😭
Ei has a lot to answer for. Out of the 4 Archons so far, she is the most troublesome.
@Poop Head Maybe. But I can't say I care about him lol. He is evil and sick.
The way I got goosebumps the voice actor did so well with portraying the emotions 😳
There was so much emotion in this cutscene, why didn't I see an award given to Patrick? He needs one now!
This scene legit gave me goosebumps all over, and the way he says mother, oh goodness😭 scara’s voice actor did so well and amazing job to the animators and rest of the genshin impact team! You guys outdid yourselves on this one🫶🏻 Keep up the great work!!
kzclip.org/video/hB1iJULTTUU/бейне.html Finally it’s here
The way he said 'my mother' and 'good riddance' break my heart 😭
i feel so bad for him sigh.. the way he looked so hopeless when the gnosis was taken away.
Man a lot of Genshin ocs had a very heartbreaking backstory and I can’t help crying-
But the “my mother” man bro hit so hard 😭
damn this hits hard after the interlude
Thats why he didnt kill kazuha’s grandfather :)
Also! The reason why he hold a grudge agains blacksmiths families from inazuma was because the person who killed and betrayed both him and his friend was also a blacksmith!
@Fátum No, they betrayed him, and his friend was killed wdym. Please read the lore :/
@Light Check Sude he is just a kid without guidance in life. He was born, discarded by his mother and then ABANDONED to his own luck without any education. No one was there to tell him that he was just unlucky, BECAUSE HIS FAMILY ABANDONED HIM.
@Stacia wait omg YESSS THAT MIGHT BE THE CASE :00
@dhaniya I have a feeling Dottore has messed with his memories to make him think they all betrayed him since he's been tinkering with him to shape him into a god.
THIS CUTSCENE IS A BEAUTIFUL MASTERPIECE THAT GETS ME EMOTIONAL AND MAKES ME WANT TO CRY I SWEAR ESPECIALLY WHEN HE CALLS EI HIS MOTHER RAAAAAA
Information for my English fellow speaker: Gnosis is called "god's heart" in Chinese. That's why Scaramoche is obsessed with gnosis, because he was created to contain the "god's heart" but then he was set free and he had no "heart".
God, this is so heart breaking TwT
Scara's VA done such an amazing job with this. I worship 🛐
