I remember a dude came to our job who looked exactly like Ben Shapiro, I couldn’t help but laugh when I first saw him. And he responded with “Oh man, not again.” Dude was cool about it, but it was hilarious nonetheless.

you are showing both your age and your ignorance, look at any mainstream rap artists of the entire genres lifestyle, when a new trend came up they followed it, if you only look at the most popular artists you'll only see a trend, if you take the time to do research and check out the more underground scenes you'll see unique individuals trying to make a sound that is entirely theirs. I'm not saying you're ignorant as an insult, this way of thinking is a very common mindset and endemic to humans everywhere, you see the most popular and think that's how the entire scene is, but it's not. Just off the top of my head, Bones, Ghostemane, $uicideBoy$, Eddie Baker, Zillakami, SosMula, Nascar Aloe, Lil Ugly Mane, Danny Brown, Mario Judah, Denzel Curry, Joey Bada$$, Vince Staples, Tyler the Creator, Earl Sweatshirt and a ton of other artists who are either super mainstream and still pushing boundaries or who are more underground and making a unique name for themselves.

    • The1whokill5
      The1whokill5 Ай бұрын

Unique doesn't sell well, trends sell. Trendsetters are the ones you'll remember. That being said, there are people who follow the wave and blow up. 80s and 90s were no different. Trends happened, people rode the wave, and the cycle was repeated.

I feel like the antithesis of this would be MF DOOM and the Doombots, where MF DOOM would send some lookalikes to his shows to perform for him and have them wear the Doom mask. It was kinda part of MF DOOM's canon lol and pretty much played into the fact MF DOOM was a villain.

I’m serious. I mean like using your own identity to entertain or impress people, not like 5 or 6 years ago when you got attention from causing mayhem, breaking shit, acting like a fool on camera, etc. That shit won’t work today

Nah my guy. I know you do music and know the logistics behind cover song licensing. It's an ENTIRE market and industry around having to buy the license to do cover songs like Izzy is doing (yes, a cover can be the live performance when you are commercializing and monetizing it). He's getting away with this because it's CAP. he is NOT making no crazy money off this shit like people are saying. He is riding a clout wave. If he is making 10k for shows, you can BET Drake is collecting 9.5 from them shows as soon as the check clear. lmao not hating because it's a legit market, but you have to pay for cover licensing when you are in that industry.

    • no name
no name 9 ай бұрын +4

This is painfully off-point. You have no idea what you're talking about. I literally work in royalty distro and you're so off-base.
He's not making 10k, but if he did, you literally could not in good faith allow this.
I know you're not in the industry because you obviously don't know about club exclusivity. There's 1000 other things you don't know, but just know that artists have club exclusivity. They do deals with certain clubs and owners to stay with them in certain cities and/or states. Someone performing under a name that can be mistaken is NOT OKAY and the club-owner would DEMAND that they shut it down, which would be granted because of the fraud angle.
A fucking joke that you think getting 9.5k off of someone's show is worth missing out on multiple m's of club exclusivity.

Durks lookalike is SPOT ON. Probably one of the last rappers I'd be trying to look like in the streets though. Do you really want that heat? 😆

Holy shit dude thank you !!!!! You just put me onto to so much u have no idea. No Cap no crap ! Check this so I was on yt going thru vids came across Steve channel I was like wtf is this Gronk look alike🤣 But dude had good content so I watched about 10 of them. I was a fan. I felt dude seemed to be a genuine good person. THEN a few days later I see that vid of him with 69. I was like Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!! Damn WTFFFFFF!!!! So that leads me to clickin the vid that Perk did not want to be in the vid. I thought that was Derk fr r. So I was happy thinkin that Derk did not wnt to make any vids with 69. Not realizing this was a fake. My bad for not probably reading like I should have. But, they was pressuring him to meet 69 and stay. I am yelling at my phone like let dude g he said he don;t want to meet him. Stop pressuring him. Not knowing NONE of the drama behind, But knowing the Beef. What I thought at the time was that it was the real Durk and I thought they lied to him trying to put 69 in a vid. When he got there I thought Durk heard 69 was there and was like I am out tryin to be the better person. I had No idea until now that was a fake and the back story, so thank you. That said. I agree 1000000% Durk is not someone tht you want to imitate. His ops is out there. Even tho I like dud e music and I hate 69, I always feel one day Durk gonna be another story. Sadly. Purk the Fake Durk gonna get caught slipping and the Ops ain;t gonna care that he is only "a kid". PPl need to stop usin that weak ass excuse when they get exposed. This the real world yall. Ops and real killas do not care. And look just in life u do adult shit you will be treated like an adult. Tryin to back pedal and claim to be a kid when it's too late ain't gonna always work. So learn early and do not do dumb shit or think about the decisions that you make. And look at his eyes he always looks so sad. Dude been thru alot and still goin thru it. Glad Steve cut off 69. 69 keep playin with the right ones. Now onto fake Drake Izzy. Lmaaaaoooo 🤣🤣🤣 Yoooo not gonna lie fam. I would prob ride that out too. Not on no corny performing stuff. BUT, just on the amount of baddie women that he can pull even tho they knw he is not th real drake. Damn !!! He look kinda like a heavier version but what gets me is when he tried to talk like Drake.I was done. Out here in AZ they have cover bands that get paid in the Tempe college Asu club district areas and Scottsdale. They call themselves tribute bands or acts. They look and perform the songs and get paid. Matter of fact like a week ago there was a casino that had a Bruno Mars tribute guy performing all his hits. I was like If you can mimic Bruno that well that ppl pay to see you, then you need to come out with your own shit fr fr. You know how talented Bruno is?!?! To me that shows your skill and says you need to stop imitating and be your own artist. But, low key I have always wondered how are they legal. But, they have them every month out here. Famous 80's and 90's bands or artist you name it. People act like them and get paid some how and ppl be paying to watch too.

They are getting fame and money from the image of someone who they aren’t. Eventually this stuff will die down and nobody will care about them. They can’t make a career of being something they aren’t and won’t last. The lil durk and 6ix9ine stuff shows what could happen from making it very public and making it your brand. I don’t think it’s a good idea at all

It doesn’t even have to be Drake who goes after fake Drake, it could just be the record label that goes after him since the label owns the rights to Drakes songs; they could sue fake Drake for making profit off of their songs.
