So true about the smooth transition to flight in an A380. I've only had the chance to fly it once, on Air France from JFK to Paris in 2013. Takeoff felt like someone on the flight deck just pushed the "up" button. Smooth and quiet. An amazing airplane.
@Josh H I am not a pilot so I won't pretend to be expert. But I know one Delta Captain who prefers Boeing airplanes to Airbus. He says it's virtually impossible to overload Boeing airplanes. Airbus are a different story.
We flew economy on an Emirates 380, and it was easily the equivalent of any US airline first class. Big seats, good food, an overnight pack, and an entertainment system with 1000+ movies! For such a big plane, loading and unloading were surprisingly efficient.
Agree 100%. I've had two great flights on an Emirates A380. If you're on a long haul flight pay extra for selecting an aisle seat. On one of my Emirates flights the air was so smooth that it was like sitting at home in a comfortable arm chair! That is how good the computer system really is.
Let's just remember that the Wright Brothers' flight lasted 12 seconds, this flight was 13 hours, or 46,800 seconds with 2 floors, a bar, and a shower. Good mother of god.
I love that they have cameras around the plane that you can watch during takeoff and flight. I have always thought that would be a good idea for the passengers to be able to see and it looks like someone finally agreed with me. This has probably been around for a long time, but I haven't flown in about 10 years.
It's not a new concept. AA 191 had video of the take off viewed by the passengers and they watched as the plane they were in going down. That was in 1979
the pilots actually use the bottom camera for taxi because they can't see the lines, and they use the tail mounted one to make sure they dont hit anything with the wings

I flew the A-380 from Miami to Frankfurt, round-trip on Lufthansa. Loved it! Efficient service, good food, premium economy bulkhead seats, yoga stretching and coffee by the galley with the crew, and the live exterior camera is unique. The smoothest and most relaxing flight I've ever taken. More are coming back into service.

The A380 is quite amazing... Passenger capacity, first class space, and just amazing an aircraft of this size can take off. Great videos you've posted. I have not been on it, but your videos of the 787, A380 and other aircraft give me a chance. I was a former business traveler and my fiance worked for an airline--my Mom predicted I'd marry someone who worked for an airline. My fiance and later our daughter both loved air travel and air travel was more enjoyable when I traveled with family which I first started doing in '66. Glad you and your wife chose a world vacation for your honeymoon. Vacations are a memory that always gives, introducing us to cultures and experiences that are wonderful.
I've flown from Manchester (UK) to Johannesburg via Dubai. Both planes were A380. It was economy class but probably the best all round service in economy. Food was good, drinks(no alcohol) whenever requested were prompt. And the i.f.e was excellent. Huge selection of movies. Definitely would go Emirates again.
I've personally flown with Emirates on an A380, just in economy, and I must say it's one of the comfiest economy class seats you can sit in, leg room is amazing, also got the TV

Flown Melbourne to Dubai in economy (pre-covid). Food, service, entertainment and seat were all as good as any other economy I've flown and being on the A380 was a bonus - big, smooth and roomy.

I recently flew on the Emirates A380 from JFK to Dubai and back 6 days later. The takeoff is so smooth and I was very comfortable in Economy class for the long 12.5 hour flight. The food selection was good and tasty, especially getting a variety of snacks with the meal to enjoy later. I look forward to flying on Emirates again for trips to the Middle East and Asia.

I flew Emirates First Class on the A380 from Sydney to Dubai to London and return in 2013 and 2014. I was interested to see that very little is different. The pjs are redesigned and the amenities pack is the same brand but updated in look (female version). The only 2 real differences I spotted were that in 2013 the seat had a massage function, which was great, and that in both years the little half moon shaped compartment in front of the TV fitted a half moon shaped box with far more lotions etc than you showed. No little towel packet - actual bottles and containers of nice smelly stuff in a pretty box to take home. By my 4th flight I wasn't using the shower (but grabbed a full set of the excellent hair and body products, plus some hairbrushes I still use) and really only ate the caviar and some soup on the shorter leg (never pass up caviar!) I found all the food tasty and well cooked, but then I didn’t try the steak (far too fussy to risk that my rare steak would be over done). All in all, your review was very interesting to see and very accurate as far as my experience goes. I look forward to watching more now I've found your channel.
I've also had the once in a lifetime oppurtunity, and WOW... it was simply astounding. the cabin crew were so nice in everything and we were provided top tier meals throughout the flight. the lounge was also huge and the bathrooms had showers and it was BIG. if you ever do this, experience it to the fullest. also, the flight was from SFO to DXB (san francisco to dubai intl)
In 1978 or thereabouts, my mom and I flew from SFO to Hawaii via United 747. They had an upper deck lounge. My mom and I were the only passengers seated in the lounge. The flight attendant brought us mai tai after mai tai and bowls of macadamia nuts. The windows surrounded us in azure blue, where sky met the Pacific Ocean. It was heaven!

Just prior to Covid I went first class on Emirates 777 Melb to Singapore & loved it ,, it was a Qantas code share flight so I enjoyed the Qantas First Lounge in Melbourne . The return was via the Qantas First Lounge in Singapore on a Qantas A380 that had not had the revamp some have ,, however I thoroughly enjoyed the experience which was a present from my family .. my aim now is an Emirates A380 .. thank you again

That transit hotel in the airport was such an AMAZING idea. As a frequent traveler, I don't know how many times I wished for a place to lay my head without having to leave the airport.
I remember in 1995 in my way to New York, I connected through Manama, Bahrain airport, I went walking arround the terminal inside the secured area, I stumbled upon a hotel that offer beds and/or showers, Beds (small room) were rented on 6 hours increments!
The idea of transit hotels in or close to the airport is monumental!! Specially when one arrives in the evening or night and have more than six or more hours layover!
I've only flown on an A380 once - Air France Dulles to Paris. I managed to nab one of the few regular economy seats on the upper level, so it wasn't as chaotic as boarding for the all-economy lower level.
We flew an A380 economy on Etihad in 2017 and that will forever be my favorite plane ride. Honestly as nice if not nicer than American Delta first class. 😍
Only managed their first class(free upgrade) on the UK - Dubai leg. I was not game to try the shower, visions of hitting Turbulence mid shower. Still an unforgettable experience.

Great video. Takes me back to the 2 times when I had the chance to enjoy the first class on Emirates. The first time I received a surprise upgrade from business to first the A380 from Dubai to Amsterdam. It really blew my mind! The second time i finally accumultaed enough points to treat myself to an upgrade from business to first from Phuket via Dubai to Amsterdam. The first leg was on a B777 which was on the 'old' first class seat. I had the best sleep I ever had on a plane. The crew even had difficulty waking me up before landing in Dubai. The first class lounge in Dubai is amazing. It's so huge that sometimes you don't even see other passengers. The service in the lounge was perfect as was the shower I had in there. The final leg to Amsterdam was on my favorite aircraft, the A380. Flights on the A380 always feel a lot smoother compared to other aircraft to me. The onboard experience was as expected. It was perfect. Just as you mentioned in the video; not in your face but always there when you need it. Of course I had the shower onboard because whenever do you get that chance again? i hope I can fly the A380 again sometime soon. I really miss that big boy.

This certainly shines a bright light on the otherwise miserable experience of commercial air travel these days. It would be nice if a domestic carrier would offer a more “ private experience” for travelers within the U.S. like you had here.
I flew London-Bangkok on an A380 on the return it was 777-300ER, it was like flying back on a chicken special in comparison to going. Beautiful aircraft to travel on.
For many years, the U.S. banned glass jet bridges due to creating a fire hazard. The regulation was repealed in August 2016, but most airports haven't adapted as traditional steel ones cost less. (The Tom Bradley International Terminal at LAX has glass jet bridges, but was built right before the repeal, so they stuck on a peel so they're fully opaque. Not sure if that's been peeled off yet.)

Whenever I book long flights, I deliberately book flights with long layovers and that backtrack the other direction so they can take even longer. So apparently I'm not the only one who does this when traveling LOL.

Almost the same experience as my wife and I have the A380 carnival on our honeymoon back in late 2016 (we took A380 of the ME3 in a three-week honeymoon, plus Lufthansa A380 and Japan Airlines B777 first class). Everything was great except the food. That is the oldest video in my channel.

I have flown in A380 (emirates) a few times and has always been more enjoyable compared to flying other models on the same route. Note: I am not wealthy and have only flown economy.
I think British Airways has a great first class service. I will never deny that. I traveled to London in the Concorde. It was an experience that you will never forget.
I have had the pleasure of flying first class in these a few times. The greatest experience! When I had the cavier, it came on the dish and not in the tin. Their best thing was the shower and the heated floors.

@bobduvar for Emirates they can do that because they’re mostly a long haul airline and with the single ‘home’ airport in Dubai they can transport many people from all parts of the world to Dubai and then deploy all the A380s to final destinations. Filling almost all the seats. You have billions of people in South Asia, South East Asia, Africa and the Middle East who don’t have choices to travel long haul so they work routes that other European and American carriers aren’t going to. Many of those countries don’t have international airlines that are good or offer the same extensive routes as Emirates.

I remember flying the A380 long haul economy on emirates right before covid, and even in economy there were always all sorts of snacks and drinks laying around in the galley. I can't sleep on flights so i did my fair share of walking around and snacking. Even in economy you could tell just how smooth the A380 was, and the seats weren't tight either compared to other airlines A380's.

I have flown many times with emirates most times in a airbus 380 business class the longest flight was from auckland to amsterdam I sat more than 24 hours in the plane but it felt not so long the service the food is excellent. for me it is the best airline in the world.
Want to know what’s better than a 13 hour flight in First class on Emirates? A: Two flights - I did BrIsbane to Dubai and Dubai to Toronto to take the long way round from Australia to North America. Sure it took so much longer, but was well worth the experience. Worth considering when you head Down Under one day. Regarding the Lounges in Dubai- my personal opinion is you didn’t even get to experience the best First Class Lounge in Dubai. A short train transfer to the next Terminal, and the First Class Lounge there is even better!
Heads up that they have currently closed the bar at the back and the first class bar at the front due to Omicron. Also, the snacks at the bar are usually better and not plastic wrapped as can be seen in the vid, most likely this is due to covid and will revert after.

So true about the smooth transition to flight in an A380. I've only had the chance to fly it once, on Air France from JFK to Paris in 2013. Takeoff felt like someone on the flight deck just pushed the "up" button. Smooth and quiet. An amazing airplane.

We flew economy on an Emirates 380, and it was easily the equivalent of any US airline first class. Big seats, good food, an overnight pack, and an entertainment system with 1000+ movies! For such a big plane, loading and unloading were surprisingly efficient.

Agree 100%. I've had two great flights on an Emirates A380. If you're on a long haul flight pay extra for selecting an aisle seat. On one of my Emirates flights the air was so smooth that it was like sitting at home in a comfortable arm chair! That is how good the computer system really is.

I love that they have cameras around the plane that you can watch during takeoff and flight. I have always thought that would be a good idea for the passengers to be able to see and it looks like someone finally agreed with me. This has probably been around for a long time, but I haven't flown in about 10 years.
It's not a new concept. AA 191 had video of the take off viewed by the passengers and they watched as the plane they were in going down. That was in 1979
the pilots actually use the bottom camera for taxi because they can't see the lines, and they use the tail mounted one to make sure they dont hit anything with the wings

Oh man, I was an international road warrior for 20 years - this tugged at my heart. I love that lounge in Dubai. I've been there more than a few times in the wee hours and it's ALWAYS popping.
I flew the A-380 from Miami to Frankfurt, round-trip on Lufthansa. Loved it! Efficient service, good food, premium economy bulkhead seats, yoga stretching and coffee by the galley with the crew, and the live exterior camera is unique. The smoothest and most relaxing flight I've ever taken. More are coming back into service.

The A380 is quite amazing... Passenger capacity, first class space, and just amazing an aircraft of this size can take off. Great videos you've posted. I have not been on it, but your videos of the 787, A380 and other aircraft give me a chance. I was a former business traveler and my fiance worked for an airline--my Mom predicted I'd marry someone who worked for an airline.
My fiance and later our daughter both loved air travel and air travel was more enjoyable when I traveled with family which I first started doing in '66.

I've flown from Manchester (UK) to Johannesburg via Dubai. Both planes were A380. It was economy class but probably the best all round service in economy. Food was good, drinks(no alcohol) whenever requested were prompt. And the i.f.e was excellent. Huge selection of movies. Definitely would go Emirates again.
I've personally flown with Emirates on an A380, just in economy, and I must say it's one of the comfiest economy class seats you can sit in, leg room is amazing, also got the TV

Flown Melbourne to Dubai in economy (pre-covid). Food, service, entertainment and seat were all as good as any other economy I've flown and being on the A380 was a bonus - big, smooth and roomy.

I recently flew on the Emirates A380 from JFK to Dubai and back 6 days later. The takeoff is so smooth and I was very comfortable in Economy class for the long 12.5 hour flight. The food selection was good and tasty, especially getting a variety of snacks with the meal to enjoy later. I look forward to flying on Emirates again for trips to the Middle East and Asia.

This is one of the things on my bucket list! Flying First Class on the Emirates A380!
I flew Emirates First Class on the A380 from Sydney to Dubai to London and return in 2013 and 2014. I was interested to see that very little is different. The pjs are redesigned and the amenities pack is the same brand but updated in look (female version). The only 2 real differences I spotted were that in 2013 the seat had a massage function, which was great, and that in both years the little half moon shaped compartment in front of the TV fitted a half moon shaped box with far more lotions etc than you showed. No little towel packet - actual bottles and containers of nice smelly stuff in a pretty box to take home. By my 4th flight I wasn't using the shower (but grabbed a full set of the excellent hair and body products, plus some hairbrushes I still use) and really only ate the caviar and some soup on the shorter leg (never pass up caviar!) I found all the food tasty and well cooked, but then I didn’t try the steak (far too fussy to risk that my rare steak would be over done). All in all, your review was very interesting to see and very accurate as far as my experience goes. I look forward to watching more now I've found your channel.
I've also had the once in a lifetime oppurtunity, and WOW... it was simply astounding. the cabin crew were so nice in everything and we were provided top tier meals throughout the flight. the lounge was also huge and the bathrooms had showers and it was BIG. if you ever do this, experience it to the fullest.
also, the flight was from SFO to DXB (san francisco to dubai intl)
As long as one of these flights costs more than my car, I doubt I will ever experience it :( It's a different world for sure
In 1978 or thereabouts, my mom and I flew from SFO to Hawaii via United 747. They had an upper deck lounge. My mom and I were the only passengers seated in the lounge. The flight attendant brought us mai tai after mai tai and bowls of macadamia nuts. The windows surrounded us in azure blue, where sky met the Pacific Ocean. It was heaven!
Hi Jeb as usual a very informative & honest review & it has made me put this on to my bucket list . Just prior to Covid I went first class on Emirates 777 Melb to Singapore & loved it ,, it was a Qantas code share flight so I enjoyed the Qantas First Lounge in Melbourne . The return was via the Qantas First Lounge in Singapore on a Qantas A380 that had not had the revamp some have ,, however I thoroughly enjoyed the experience which was a present from my family .. my aim now is an Emirates A380 .. thank you again
Congratulations on your marriage! Great video - the A380 is the most amazing plane - and such a shame that no US carriers bought them! I've only flown on Singapore Airlines and BA's A380s - the former in Business Class and the latter in Premium Economy. Def go SQ all the way - their Business Class is jaw dropping and BA PE was very good. Great to see you back in the skies!

That transit hotel in the airport was such an AMAZING idea. As a frequent traveler, I don't know how many times I wished for a place to lay my head without having to leave the airport.
I remember in 1995 in my way to New York, I connected through Manama, Bahrain airport, I went walking arround the terminal inside the secured area, I stumbled upon a hotel that offer beds and/or showers, Beds (small room) were rented on 6 hours increments!
I’m dreadfully afraid of flying, but even I could enjoy and relax on that flight from Dubai to New York!
The idea of transit hotels in or close to the airport is monumental!! Specially when one arrives in the evening or night and have more than six or more hours layover!
I've only flown on an A380 once - Air France Dulles to Paris. I managed to nab one of the few regular economy seats on the upper level, so it wasn't as chaotic as boarding for the all-economy lower level.

We flew an A380 economy on Etihad in 2017 and that will forever be my favorite plane ride. Honestly as nice if not nicer than American Delta first class. 😍

Great video. Takes me back to the 2 times when I had the chance to enjoy the first class on Emirates. The first time I received a surprise upgrade from business to first the A380 from Dubai to Amsterdam. It really blew my mind! The second time i finally accumultaed enough points to treat myself to an upgrade from business to first from Phuket via Dubai to Amsterdam. The first leg was on a B777 which was on the 'old' first class seat. I had the best sleep I ever had on a plane. The crew even had difficulty waking me up before landing in Dubai. The first class lounge in Dubai is amazing. It's so huge that sometimes you don't even see other passengers. The service in the lounge was perfect as was the shower I had in there. The final leg to Amsterdam was on my favorite aircraft, the A380. Flights on the A380 always feel a lot smoother compared to other aircraft to me. The onboard experience was as expected. It was perfect. Just as you mentioned in the video; not in your face but always there when you need it. Of course I had the shower onboard because whenever do you get that chance again? i hope I can fly the A380 again sometime soon. I really miss that big boy.

This certainly shines a bright light on the otherwise miserable experience of commercial air travel these days. It would be nice if a domestic carrier would offer a more “ private experience” for travelers within the U.S. like you had here.

I flew London-Bangkok on an A380 on the return it was 777-300ER, it was like flying back on a chicken special in comparison to going. Beautiful aircraft to travel on.

For many years, the U.S. banned glass jet bridges due to creating a fire hazard. The regulation was repealed in August 2016, but most airports haven't adapted as traditional steel ones cost less. (The Tom Bradley International Terminal at LAX has glass jet bridges, but was built right before the repeal, so they stuck on a peel so they're fully opaque. Not sure if that's been peeled off yet.)

Whenever I book long flights, I deliberately book flights with long layovers and that backtrack the other direction so they can take even longer. So apparently I'm not the only one who does this when traveling LOL.
I still do, at 75 years of age. It's still the best way to go, too !!!

Almost the same experience as my wife and I have the A380 carnival on our honeymoon back in late 2016 (we took A380 of the ME3 in a three-week honeymoon, plus Lufthansa A380 and Japan Airlines B777 first class). Everything was great except the food. That is the oldest video in my channel.

Fantastic, love every detail on this review. I wish I fly first class one day. I checked the price from my country to JFK, Emirates multiclass ticket for CGK-DXB (B.class) and DXB-JFK (First Class) is about US$4700 return.
Great video Jeb! How do they prioritize which first class passengers get to select their shower times first? I wouldn’t want to be stuck with showering at the beginning of a 13 hour flight.
Unless you didn’t shower before boarding. You know some people don’t shower at all before flying long haul? It’s disgusting but I get why someone will opt to go first.
Looks amazing. I would have to be very careful about the food because of coeliac disease. But other than that it looks like a dream flight to go on.

That's why I paid extra for Qantas QF11 A380 flight SYD-LAX, even though I don't live in SYD and I'm travelling to SFO and cheaper & more direct flights. But those other flights were on Boeing 787s & 777s and I want to fly this quadjet giant at least once

Been there and done that. The A388 is the best First Class I have ever flown in.
I have flown in A380 (emirates) a few times and has always been more enjoyable compared to flying other models on the same route. Note: I am not wealthy and have only flown economy.
I think British Airways has a great first class service. I will never deny that. I traveled to London in the Concorde. It was an experience that you will never forget.
I have had the pleasure of flying first class in these a few times. The greatest experience! When I had the cavier, it came on the dish and not in the tin. Their best thing was the shower and the heated floors.

I went on Emirates A380 business class from Milan to jfk and the experience was truly special and amazing!

@bobduvar for Emirates they can do that because they’re mostly a long haul airline and with the single ‘home’ airport in Dubai they can transport many people from all parts of the world to Dubai and then deploy all the A380s to final destinations. Filling almost all the seats. You have billions of people in South Asia, South East Asia, Africa and the Middle East who don’t have choices to travel long haul so they work routes that other European and American carriers aren’t going to. Many of those countries don’t have international airlines that are good or offer the same extensive routes as Emirates.
@SileTa Mus The Airbuses 320 & 321 néo and XN and the B737-8 changed many things .... You can fly from small european airports to the US and far asia and being full... Filling an A380 is much much difficult...

4 Engines when B777 or A350 own only two ones. too big for some airports. and did not fit for "points to points" airlines networks

I remember flying the A380 long haul economy on emirates right before covid, and even in economy there were always all sorts of snacks and drinks laying around in the galley. I can't sleep on flights so i did my fair share of walking around and snacking. Even in economy you could tell just how smooth the A380 was, and the seats weren't tight either compared to other airlines A380's.

I have flown many times with emirates most times in a airbus 380 business class the longest flight was from auckland to amsterdam I sat more than 24 hours in the plane but it felt not so long the service the food is excellent. for me it is the best airline in the world.

A: Two flights - I did BrIsbane to Dubai and Dubai to Toronto to take the long way round from Australia to North America. Sure it took so much longer, but was well worth the experience. Worth considering when you head Down Under one day.
Regarding the Lounges in Dubai- my personal opinion is you didn’t even get to experience the best First Class Lounge in Dubai. A short train transfer to the next Terminal, and the First Class Lounge there is even better!
Heads up that they have currently closed the bar at the back and the first class bar at the front due to Omicron.
Also, the snacks at the bar are usually better and not plastic wrapped as can be seen in the vid, most likely this is due to covid and will revert after.
