@TPRM1 Well Brian Cox is a celebrated actor, who did the better Hannibal Lector, so he knew how to react, having done comedy in, say, Super Troopers and Braveheart. What?
@Irving Teran That's not true :) you have an interview with Diane Morgan and Charles Brooker where they say the experts are told it's a comedy show and to treat her like a child. And they crack up, its just edit out. And they don't have time to "prep" an experto to exhaustion.
@Nicanor Núñez During an interview, she said that all of them know it's a comedy show but they don't know the exact questions. It was kinda sad and disappointing when I found out, but now I get to share this with you, now you're sad and disappointed too 😊
They do know... I just watch an interview of her, and she stated that they all knew and there were a lot of edits being cut because the guests couldn't at times stop laughing.
wouldn't you think a comment like that was so straight forward and the best you'd get was lots of likes but no, you get a bunch of people with sticks up their holes. Way to spoil a funny moment! I doubt they even know what comedy is :D :D
The interviewees are always told beforehand that Cunk is "stunningly dense." So they're a little bit in on the joke, but it's enough of a heads-up to let them keep their composure. So no, they don't do multiple takes bc of laughter.
@Herlander Carvalho wow thanks for using an interview 2wks after my comment to disprove my comment. I am in awe of your conception of time. Also, I stated the same thing she does- they’re aware it’s a comedy, but they’re blindsided by the obtuse stuff. It’s prime BBC, panto, Onion, clown, it’s brilliant in her execution.
The actress said it herself, the interviewees are in on it, they just don't know what the questions will be. There aren't multiple takes but stuff gets edited out, like when they crack up.
The ability of this woman not bursting out laughing makes me wonder if she’s channeled into another persons when she’s doing a comedy sketch or a show. Also may I say, the reactions of many experts here are incredibly British. They were confused but we’re trying not to act too obvious to seem rude in front of the camera. Essence if the show truly
Guests trying to remain professional in the face of Philomena's inanity is the charm of her interviews. I imagine the producers telling the the experts, "Just be yourself, if you can."
I've barked laughter, farted and started crying all at once from shit like her describing the Titanic as a single-use submarine. I couldn't breathe. I'm usually the one who gets those reactions from people when I talk. She's legend.
i am convinced that the guests had no idea what was about to happen, they were just told that they had an interview and that they were to be as serious as possible
I have SO much admiration for the way they handled these questions and "misunderstandings". Admittedly there were lots of footage of people breaking up but it's been edited out naturally. This was covered in interview. Nevertheless priceless moments 😂
I think this mainly works because of who she is interviewing. They are too proper and all of that to just laugh in her face or tell her she is being an idiot. They take her unseriousness so serious.
Has she interviewed the "military" expert numerous times, or was one interview broken into snippets for these short videos? I mean, one interview with Philomena and you should be ruined for life. I can't imagine any way a person could agree to a second interview, and think to themselves "I've just got to listen more carefully and give more complete answers, because I can see she is making an honest effort to learn."
@Robert Hickerty Have you seen the Soviet Onion bit, though? The little dig at her reading comprehension was very on brand for his usual apparent demeanour... and then he just totally leaned into it all with a digression about Russian root crops 😀
@Don't be fatuous, Jeffrey He always looked so put out by her inane questions that I kept expecting him to lecture her. When she broke down and he showed compassion for her it was so incredibly heart warming. If he was not in on the gag then his ability to answer questions so well is amazing. Even if he was his answers were always respectful.
Generally there aren't any. The experts and interviewees are all told beforehand about Philomena but they don't know what she'll ask, so largely it's all improvised and their reactions to her questions are all genuine 😂
"My mate Paul told me" the nasty side of LSD. "My mate Paul told me" a prison male rape joke. I love her deep digs at disestablishing all the discrimination and hypocrisy that are entrenched in British society to make clear points. All starting from her mate Paul.
FYI, Diane's accent is the sort of northern accent that people in the UK think is a bit "dim". I say that with affection, because I'm from not very far away. But that's what adds to the humour for UK audiences. It's like having someone from the deep south in the US. every country has an equivalent stereotype.
But for real…if you met someone like her she would make it feel like your brain is on fire lol I would ultimately resort to just walking out Lmfao I have adhd so this all bugs me even though I know she’s just trying to melt these peoples brains and see how far she can go until they break
I'm glad she's getting loads of views now but she's been doing this character for so long. Really hope the new fans check out her and Barry Shitpeas on weekly wipe
During an interview, she said that all of them know it's a comedy show and they have to edit out the parts when they break character. They don't know the exact questions though. It was kinda sad and disappointing when I found out, but now I get to share this with you, now you're sad and disappointed too 😊
There once was a man from Nantucket Who kept all his cash in a bucket. But his daughter, named Nan, Ran away with a man And as for the bucket, Nantucket.
The words “my mate Paul” always proceed a masterpiece of a story
for real, i picked it up and started to use it myself
Paul gets up to some shit, I’m telling you.
@Benny C exactly
and, "my ex, Sean."
@PCH it must be a very messed up story if Philomena was horrified 😅
Her ability to keep a straight face in these interviews is so admirable.
@TheVicar depends who you ask, Charlie Brooker says of course they know
@TPRM1 Well Brian Cox is a celebrated actor, who did the better Hannibal Lector, so he knew how to react, having done comedy in, say, Super Troopers and Braveheart.
What?
@sexobscura Comment of the day
Although it is only the first one I've read today
Botox
Whenever you hear, "My mate, Paul..." you know it's about to get good.
omg her ex shawn 🤣🤣🤣
And her ex Shawn! 🤣
🤣🤣🤣
😅
Paul. The man. The Shite. The Legend. LOL
no idea how her guests don't just crack up laughing. the strength.
@Irving Teran That's not true :) you have an interview with Diane Morgan and Charles Brooker where they say the experts are told it's a comedy show and to treat her like a child. And they crack up, its just edit out. And they don't have time to "prep" an experto to exhaustion.
I think because they're experts and they're furious.
You must be new here, the Elvis lady and the baby jesus lady cracked up good.
Laughter is forbidden.
~ King Arthur ~
"Blair", "Blur!", "Blair", "Blur!", "Blair", "Blur!", "Blur", "Yeah!"👏How does she keep such a consistently straight face?
@Michael May Don’t ruin the magic for people lol. But yes this is the correct answer.
@Mairi Millar not for some people outside Britain lol
@Xavi yes, that's stating the obvious.
cuz theyre british?
It's like a looney toons skit
I have to applaud the interviewees for maintaining character when they obviously must know who she is
@Nicanor Núñez During an interview, she said that all of them know it's a comedy show but they don't know the exact questions.
It was kinda sad and disappointing when I found out, but now I get to share this with you, now you're sad and disappointed too 😊
@Littletime Oh man, you guys actually call it telly? I thought that was only on TV...err telly!
@Rich W Please be arsed. I keep seeing the same "They don't know it's comedy" all over YT. (But, I can't be arsed either. Maybe soon.)
@Bugholeexcalibur She's said they do have to do stuff over again when the interviewees crack.
@S M google?
@S M Tomato.
The actress said it herself, the interviewees are in on it, they just don't know what the questions will be. There aren't multiple takes but stuff gets edited out, like when they crack up.
« He didn’t kill the dragon cause there is no dragons »
« Indeed, cause he killed them »
@paul-antony whatshisface Don't worry there aren't any prizes for being the 1000th.
"In 1699, during the height of the reign of fire..."
Somewhere, Jordan Peterson is smiling and nodding.
@paul-antony whatshisface hard learnt lesson…😔
I had the chance to be the thousandth like and instead I looked at the comments first 😢
The ability of this woman not bursting out laughing makes me wonder if she’s channeled into another persons when she’s doing a comedy sketch or a show.
Also may I say, the reactions of many experts here are incredibly British. They were confused but we’re trying not to act too obvious to seem rude in front of the camera. Essence if the show truly
They're not confused, they're all in on the joke
I think she is channeling into another person as that is kind of what actors do?
Guests trying to remain professional in the face of Philomena's inanity is the charm of her interviews. I imagine the producers telling the the experts, "Just be yourself, if you can."
I initially read that as "Philomena's insanity," and I went "Yeah, that's right."
Philominia also absorbing the mindsetting of her quests. Brilliant way to increase your comedy level
The dyslexia is real with this one
*guests
Philomena*
@Jude Irwin You should have found the correct words because the whole comment is destroyed
Mindset, not mindsetting.
Why is this woman not more famous? She's hilarious in a world full of really crap wanna be comedians who seem to get all the gigs.
Because most people don't have good taste these days.
She probably doesn't have the correct views.
@Dendra7 Ali G was a Craigslist Chris Morris …
Amy Schumer🙄
Craig's list Ali G is what she is.
I feel like the words “my mate Paul” act as a warning for upcoming weirdness
It's a rip off of Ali G saying "me mate Dave"
this woman is a gem
Fun fact: this video was made several years after the release of technotronic chart topper pump up the jam
ahhahaahhaha
Another fun fact: This video was made 37 years after the first airing of the BBC sitcom, Brush Strokes
We need bloopers for this. I am very sure most of them have burst out laughing.
They are quite careful not to show them but they definitely exist.
I am on the floor right now! How she keeps a straight face is beyond me. Such incredible comedic talent 😂
It takes a special kind of density to stun your victims with wisdom like hers.
I love how they always keep a straight face though and professionally answer to her absurd questions
I am absolutely in LOVE with this character. I ugly laugh at almost everything she says.
I had to watch these episodes multiple times because I was laughing so hard, out loud, I’d miss the ensuing interview.
I've barked laughter, farted and started crying all at once from shit like her describing the Titanic as a single-use submarine. I couldn't breathe. I'm usually the one who gets those reactions from people when I talk. She's legend.
I love the guests. They are very often stern, but still very polite.
i am convinced that the guests had no idea what was about to happen, they were just told that they had an interview and that they were to be as serious as possible
I have SO much admiration for the way they handled these questions and "misunderstandings". Admittedly there were lots of footage of people breaking up but it's been edited out naturally. This was covered in interview. Nevertheless priceless moments 😂
I love how the interviewee considered her question and answered them seriously in her perspective. 😂
My dose of daily laughter!🤣🤣🤣 Thank you!
he didn't kill a dragon, he found a dinosaur skeleton and then waited a while then claimed he killed it. brilliant really
I think this mainly works because of who she is interviewing. They are too proper and all of that to just laugh in her face or tell her she is being an idiot. They take her unseriousness so serious.
"No i think that's a stretch" .. Perfect honest response. Poor old Paul though he seems to have a bit of the old rotten luck.
She's like if Mr Bean was a professional interviewer
I think this woman is the cure for depression.
Its just a theory.
But I think I'm onto something.
I'd love to meet "My mate Paul"! What a journey he has had so far in his life....
Poor Paul ☹️
He wasn't the same after prison.
just don't have a screwdriver with you; i imagine that might be a tad triggering...
Wouldn’t want to be her ex-boyfriend Shawn, though…
"My mate Paul" has the same vibe as "One time my buddy Keith"
this happened to my buddy eric
"Growing up, we used to have this one kid..." - Theo Von
keith richards has the same crazy life
"Martin and I..." /Gabriel "Fluffy" Iglesias/
me mate Dave
"How did it end" he was so invested 😁🤣🤣
Philomena is a national treasure.
1:02 that whole sequence will never not make me laugh 😂
As someone called Paul I can only dream to have a life as exciting as her mate
The whole blaire/blur moment 🤣 even with the subtitles „blah“ 🤣🤣🤣
@Quyen Dinh 😅😅😅🤣
@Zalu Skowsky blurr 😂
@Quyen Dinh Blair!
Blur Im cracking up 😂
@Bernd Wahlbrinck blair!
I love her sense of humor.
Well, of course, there’s no more dragons, George killed them. And these are supposed to be experts?🙄
Dragons are dinosaurs with wings
Experts will often maintain an open mind where lesser minds need certainty.
They did just one interview together. I think what we are seeing here are snippets of the same interview.
@Don't be fatuous, Jeffrey He's got excellent comedy chops: his furious expression, timing and just excellent deadpan answers.
She's so fucking good with her timing and ability to hold character. I love that she just said Chewbacca without a hint of cracking.
I seriously cannot get enough of these. My depression cured
This show is a gem so we’re *trying* not to binge 😂
That LSD story killed me 😆 🤣
First time i have ever spent the entirety of a thirty minute tv episode pissing myself with laughter.
The bit with Chaucer and the story about her mate Paul, honestly made me cry laughing the first time I saw it.
it must be very hard to not laugh from her questions
She's brill...so skewed, so hilarious !!
When she said "Chewbacca?" I had to pause the video bc I was laughing so hard. 😂😂😂😂
I absolutely love and adore her
2:48 that expert is my favorite. He looks so pissed but he is totally into the joke
"You've got a few more seconds..STOP" 😂😂😂
Amazing these guys can keep a straight face. Love English dry humor!
I’d love to see bloopers of this show 😂
Generally there aren't any.
The experts and interviewees are all told beforehand about Philomena but they don't know what she'll ask, so largely it's all improvised and their reactions to her questions are all genuine 😂
And the dragon, was threatening St George… or do we just, jump to conclusions, because of the way the dragon looked? 💀
That 'dragon' btw is metaphorically a demon btw
Do the guests know what they are walking into? This is hilarious 😂
you know the interview just got real when the interviewer pulls out a stop-watch.
The fact she just randomly whips out a stopwatch..oh gosh...😂😂😂😂
When you get people who don’t understand these jokes it’s baffling to see how they are in the dark.
"My mate Paul told me" the nasty side of LSD.
"My mate Paul told me" a prison male rape joke.
I love her deep digs at disestablishing all the discrimination and hypocrisy that are entrenched in British society to make clear points. All starting from her mate Paul.
This woman is a master of her art. LOL
3:08 😂now we can see his patience just reaching maximum limit.
Paul has really lived, hasn't he?
By Ron always gets me.
FYI, Diane's accent is the sort of northern accent that people in the UK think is a bit "dim". I say that with affection, because I'm from not very far away. But that's what adds to the humour for UK audiences. It's like having someone from the deep south in the US. every country has an equivalent stereotype.
she's such a queen
But for real…if you met someone like her she would make it feel like your brain is on fire lol I would ultimately resort to just walking out Lmfao I have adhd so this all bugs me even though I know she’s just trying to melt these peoples brains and see how far she can go until they break
Paul can't catch a break holy shit
Who's Ron? 😂 That one killed me
Thats the most hardest thing to do is not to laugh in a supposed to be non-joke interview
Antagonist Lover, thanks so much for this mate…laughed during this entire compilation
Brilliant 😂
I'm glad she's getting loads of views now but she's been doing this character for so long. Really hope the new fans check out her and Barry Shitpeas on weekly wipe
During an interview, she said that all of them know it's a comedy show and they have to edit out the parts when they break character. They don't know the exact questions though.
It was kinda sad and disappointing when I found out, but now I get to share this with you, now you're sad and disappointed too 😊
I just wanna meet her mate.... Paul. He has lived a wild ass life and I wanna be his friend
They are all so patient with her; I bet it's the presence of cameras!
i didnt know her till her netflix show that just aired, and i gotta say she is genious!
"The Eric Andre Show for anthropologists" is not something I knew I needed in my life
I honestly never realised Robbie Williams was so knowledgeable when it came to star wars.
There once was a man from Nantucket
Who kept all his cash in a bucket.
But his daughter, named Nan,
Ran away with a man
And as for the bucket, Nantucket.
@Zalu Skowsky HIs question, "how did it end?" was very smart.
By Ron
Oh, I don't think that's the version she means somehow...
now, this is how comedy is done.
She’s an absolute genius. 🤣🤣🤣
I absolutely adore her!!!
She is more accurate in her understanding of everything than all CNN hosts combined!
I was literally dead whilst watching it on Netflix😂😂😂😂 How many times did that have to film and refilm ?🎯
If you know this programme, you know the experts are completely aware of the set up.
@John Burke That was straight from Charlie Booker, the Creator/Writer
@Van Groover great point
@Frankie G I bet the outtakes are hilarious.
They are lmaooo how tf do they not laugh?? I've just heard of her. I'd love to see bloopers, there has to be ppl bursting in laughter
I could watch this all day
Paul needs someone to talk to about his experiences fr
'By Ron' took me tf out 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I can tell weather some of these people she interviewed would most likely be college teachers
Kudos to the interviewees too, really!! 👏👏👍👍
Paul sounds a lot like the people I used to hang out with 15 to 25 years ago.
My God, i am laughing my a*** off to this well trained , well excersized ztoupid woman.
Philomena is so great it makes me think of how talented the human race can be, you know, that reminds me...
of belgian techo anthem: Pump Up the Jam
This lady is effing hilarious.
This second guy was desperately try not to laugh his ass off
I can only take so much amusement. This exceeds my limit
She is hilarious.
The Greg Dart one killed me. 😂
Dunno how she keeps a straight face 😂
