@Jimmy Hat that sounds decent, assuming it’s good soil, a sound livable structure and usable acreage? Is it 100% livable at the moment? If you still need to do a lot to the property to make it comfy and livable then $150k is too much.
Wow! What a fantastic couple. No nonsense, motivated, ingenious and honest. The house is eclectic and so attractive. Love the use of the glass bottles, love the use of colour and the gardens are amazing. Congratulations on all the hard work which has come to fruition with this beautiful home. 🦋
I swear that anybody growing up in a situation like this is going to have a better and brighter future with all of these tools they learn. We miss a lot of things schooling 9 to 5. It’s always great to learn from your parents and it’s always great to learn things that can’t help you survive, it’s crazy that this is the majority these days because not too long ago at all this is how most people lived if you couldn’t get by this way you couldn’t get by at all… Thanks for the videos, cheers!
I didnt grow up with parents, but my grandmother. I'm so grateful for what she taught me. I have such a different perspective towards a lot of things and skills many my age don't have. I miss her so much
@Kenneth Pollard (Ken) our neighbors just grow grapes. they can sell the grapes, make jam or wine. they had the right idea by being self sufficient and having income still for taxes. as well as they enjoy the farming so you’ll just need a good plan 👍🏼
But we was forced by the government to go to work instead of living off the land. If we don't work there for we not have cash money . So we can't pay properly tax now we just lost our land that we owned. At least the majority it's that way.
I am really into watching these alternative/ off-grid lifestyle vids but this one blew me away. The beauty of Stephanie and Joel's house! Its really inspirational that they made that themselves spending almost no money. I am really impressed! Their house could be featured in an interior design magazine. My favourite part is the glass bottle wall behind the spiral staircase. Another highlight was the woodworking details on the outside of the greenhouse room. Well done. Greetings from Stellenbosch, South Africa
I admire your lifestyle. I know it’s hard work but wish I could have lived like that in my younger years. Abundant blessings, peace and love to your family!
This is the life im dreaming. I bought a few acres of land with 3 creeks in a very rural area. Put a fence, made a rough road, plant about 60 varieties of fruits. Now im hoping to build a small cabin and start living from the land sustainable as possible. Money is main problem for me too.
@·shnki ·yu i had small land in near city and i sold half of it and bought 5 acres. Land preparations and fence is done, plant about 30 varieties of fruits , and im hoping to build a small cabin for me but still i have to collect money for that
"Simple living really isn't that simple" Wisdom to live by! Thank you. Any lifestyle that builds gratitude builds happiness. You two are inspiring people.
I love homes that look like nature is trying to reclaim them. Homes that look like they "fit" into the surrounding environment. The red sunroom part of this home has to be my favorite part. I love the color and the structure. The window arches add the perfect touch. It reminds me of a conservatory in Victorian homes. I adore that entire look. Also love the openness and straight height of the home. It doesn't have annoying corners to block the view. The metal staircase is another favorite view point to me. The two of you have created a beautiful life and home together.
I love this couple!!! Fantastic setup & full of GRATITUDE, you can feel the LOVE from this these two - truly blessed!!!! A real paradise that they've created!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
"It's not all glamor. Simple living really isn't that simple... gratitude, appreciation..." Appreciate your perspective and your honesty. It's nice to be reminded that how we approach our circumstances makes such a difference.
What a beautiful way of life… simple is better… but it doesn’t mean “easy”. I love seeing young families embracing and respecting nature. Beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
Living simply definitely isn't simple! But it is rewarding, we learn how to do so much, and there is definitely a sense of richness and true quality of life. Yes, it is hard work, too. I love love love to see young people choosing this lifestyle and passing on their learning to their children. Thanks for sharing this couple's experience.
It's nice to see an off-grid property featured that actually experiences winter. So often I find these idealistic properties are located in places like California and other areas with the luxury of year round, or nearly year round growing seasons, tons of sunlight for solar, and minimal insulation requirements. Meanwhile those of us up north with 3-4 month growing seasons have to take an entirely different approach.
WOW. It's absolutely beautiful. What a fantastic way to live. I would love to live a life like you guys. Unfortunately land in the UK is too expensive and planning permission for such dwelling is nigh on impossible
WOW this tiny home is gorgeous, both your hard work and determination has definitely paid off, I can't say enough good about it i'd be rambling forever. The design is epic . You folks teaching your daughter the value of money and how to make it is wonderful . you are an amazing young couple .
LOVE your BEAUTIFUL HOME & GARDENS that you've built starting from nothing & building "as we could afford"!! Very cool! You're a GREAT EXAMPLE of what one can accomplish through DETERMINATION & HARD WORK!! You're an inspiration! It's awesome that you're doing workshops & sharing your wisdom, knowledge & experience with others. U GUYS R ROCKIN IT!! Words to the wise, "simple living isn't all that simple"! Many Blessings to you all! Mahalo nui loa for sharing your incredible journey! Aloha!
Really liked their honesty about the challenges and hard work that come with this lifestyle. They didn't glamorize it. Could've listened to them longer. Would've loved to have known a little more about their journey and how they came to choose this way of living.
I love how resiliant and tough this family is. I really like their vision and honesty. And that house and bed and breakfast house looks amazing. I can't imagine how happy their kids would be.
Start like all journeys start, pick a road and start to walk, eventually you'll get somewhere. I'm starting to do the same and the journey is filled with tears and laugh, because the journey is as important as the goal, to start you only want to want it and do it.
I love it. Congratulations. I retired at 29 to live a simple life in Cambodia. I picked up a one bedroom condo in a beautiful community that includes a pool, gym, and restaurant for next to nothing by buying it before they finished building it.The real estate company didn’t have enough money to finish the project so they were practically giving the units away out of desperation. I had to wait for 5 years to move in, but it was worth it. I have a strict budget of 700$ a month which i make double that in residual income from my investments. with my condo paid off this amount affords me a beautiful.. even luxurious lifestyle here when in the states i would have had to work for 20-30 more years. Its not for everyone but Its all about what makes you happy.
Great video just awsome . More people need to see this ,the world is to soon fed . Good for you guys its inspirational makes me think about doing this with my family being an electrician with experience and self employment in multiple trades I'm sure we could but like you said it's a huge learning curve and you have to adapt ,overcome and learn every day it sure sounds exciting but scary all at the same time . Thank you for this it sure looks like you guys kicked off grid living in the butt
Love this so much! Love your realness too!! The reality...its not all glamour but ALL that comes from it! Satisfaction and such gratitude. Way to go guys! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you both for sharing your story, proving one can have love, peace and happiness! You both are doing great things with our beautiful 🌎 using what is available!
This is VERY inspiring! My husband and I bought land a few months ago and are gradually building on it. It'll be totally off-grid. We already built a tiny-house-on-wheels that is also completely off-grid so we are using what we learned on that to try and do the same thing on a "larger" scale (448 sq ft).
I thought the Amish of Pennsylvania had the interesting lifestyle. You have convinced me of what I love about diy off the grid living. It's exciting to embark on such and idea and let it fuel your enthusiasm to get it done. Good for you.✳️
It's beautiful.. people just don't realise the joy from having nothing and building little by little..the gratitude and appreciation for your hard work really pays of..
If If If ... Thanks for introducing us to these amazing people ! IF I were younger and full of energy I'd be into this all the way. I've lived alternatively in different places but it all happened when I was older.
Great video. Excellent interview and documentary about how to start your homestead and make it your own. But it's also important to connect with the community.
thank you for breaking it down!!We'll have regrets for things we did not participate in...Investment should always be on any creative man's heart for success in life.
Wow! I invest and buy cryptocurrencies but Mostly waiting for the rise to sell, but currently am at lost due to the current downfall in price of crypto currencies. This is a great opportunity for me to start my trading crypto so i can regain the money I have lost.
Arjun B jagat is taking the level of trading from end goal of not just making money but really to be able to understand yourself and the money becoming the after-effect. Loaded with experience and maturity!

@Charles wow that's very nice. I just sent him a message. I would love to try out this trending algorithmic copy trading i've been hearing about. Thanks for the info
Lovely couple who is conscious of their life choice and still have feets in earth. I am glad they teach precious values to their daughter but still remind her social reality. Yep, going off grid is not promised heaven, their little argue about who has more problems is cute…just like normal life. Off grid or not. Wish them all happiness.
Wow, I am impressed, this is fantastic. What a humbled beginning, you guys have put a lot of hard work into this build, and it is growing. I really love that wood stove. 14 yrs living off grid that is the longest I have seen online. I also liked the bottle wall. Stephanie has that award winning Julia Roberts smile. Tfs
I'd be very interested in how they keep up their relationship as I can imagine that staying close and stuff isn't always easy when living this lifestyle and having kids (as it isn't easy keeping it up living a different lifestyle...)
You have a very very beautiful place, your sitting patio area is perfect, reminds me of a hobby gift store, both of you should be extremely proud you earned it and deserve to be happy.
I love it! Sadly, this is the kind of thing that I really want to watch on KZclip but I'm assuming they don't have a channel? I'm really not interested in an Airbnb but I would love to get more of their build and their daily lives. Instead of all the people with huge budgets moving on to a piece of property and buying everything they need to set it up. I live on three acres and $860 a month. I'm alone and on permanent and total disability. It's the struggles that I like to see people work through for inspiration.
This is really wonderful I do have to say that growing plants in front of the solar panels seems like a bad idea. My experience is that shading any cell caused a dramatic drop in efficiency.
This house is awesome. Does anyone know a specific name for the framing style at 1:09? He calls it post and beam, but his walls are regular stud walls. It is awesome that he reused barn materials and I’d love to the same, but I’m curious about his method. I have experience a carpenter’s helper but I have never seen that kind of mixed framing before. Thanks in advance!
I LOVE this video!! I have seen lots of off grid stuff but this couple really knows how to make it fun and looking beautiful. The camera work is well done, some nice shots of the natural looking styling, absolutely gorgeous. Thanks for sharing!
I love homesteading and off grid living I am an urban homesteader and hopefully soon I will be fully off grid in the country. But what gets me is that a lot of this life is luxurious, first world living. We are benefiting from access to capital and advanced technology, and obviously we maintain a connection to the rest of society. It’s a nice life but it is actually not accessible to everyone.
Thanks for watching! You can check out Joel and Stephanie's off-grid cabin rental here:

Love the plants in front of your solar panels! Cannabis for the win
You have BEES.
Care to sell me a nuc in Spring?
I know they can be overnight US postal.
Just tell me price you want before shipping.
My dream house ❤
Where has your wife been? I haven't seen her in a few videos now.
True pioneers with the kind of house/setup I'd like to see more of instead of $150 000 glam tiny houses. Thanks for sharing.
Love it. I'd like to see a "not so grand designs" TV show featuring off grid.
Under capitalism, which is global, there really isn’t any choice. It’s impossible to live outside of that system.
@Jimmy Hat that sounds decent, assuming it’s good soil, a sound livable structure and usable acreage? Is it 100% livable at the moment? If you still need to do a lot to the property to make it comfy and livable then $150k is too much.
@judyofthewoods OK. Good Luck Judy.
👍😉
@Yves Picard thanks. I'm in Wales and have already built myself a tiny house.
why can't we all live in peace? what's happened to the world? this is the way i want to live.
Capitalism happened.
👍👍👍👍
Me too
There’s 8 billion people in the world. Not everyone can live like this
Wow! What a fantastic couple. No nonsense, motivated, ingenious and honest. The house is eclectic and so attractive. Love the use of the glass bottles, love the use of colour and the gardens are amazing. Congratulations on all the hard work which has come to fruition with this beautiful home. 🦋
What’s are the glass bottles are for ?
Yes! Imagine how great those kids will turn out… there IS a future with young Pioneers like these raising families in this lifestyle. Beautiful.
I love that this couple are sensible and practical and admit everything isn't 'sunshine and flowers'. They have a beautiful lifestyle.

Let’s go 😂

I love this couple!!! Fantastic setup & full of GRATITUDE, you can feel the LOVE from this these two - truly blessed!!!! A real paradise that they've created!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
Great to see all your hard work paying off. Nothing worthwhile is easy. Very inspiring. Thank you for sharing so much with us.🙂
They seem like an amazing couple and I love their honesty in the troubles they've had. More of this please!
This is so beautiful, you look so radiant and alive! What a great way of living and raising your children 🥰
legit they look so lively

I love love love to see young people choosing this lifestyle and passing on their learning to their children. Thanks for sharing this couple's experience.
You can say that again. College, high pressure job retired early trying to go back to simple and it sure is not simple.
You're such an example!!! Teaching your kids about self employment is so important! I bet they love living that way

I can so much relate to this video. I grew up like this in the 60's. It was hard, but it sure did teach me how to survive.
Y’all have a beautiful home. Great job!
WOW. It's absolutely beautiful. What a fantastic way to live.
I would love to live a life like you guys. Unfortunately land in the UK is too expensive and planning permission for such dwelling is nigh on impossible

Really liked their honesty about the challenges and hard work that come with this lifestyle. They didn't glamorize it. Could've listened to them longer. Would've loved to have known a little more about their journey and how they came to choose this way of living.
The most realistic off-grid video that I have ever seen. Thank you guys.
I love how resiliant and tough this family is. I really like their vision and honesty. And that house and bed and breakfast house looks amazing. I can't imagine how happy their kids would be.
Major life goals this couple has achieved.👍😁
This is always what I wanted, I just don’t know how to start! You guys definitely are inspirational

Awesome!!! We are a family of 4 and have been off grid on our 10 acres, 4.5 years now. Their interview is spot on regarding the lifestyle. ✌🏽🌱
Absolute G O A L S!! A true reflection of all the love and effort that has been put into it
What a wonderful couple, I'd love to live in a house just like theirs💚
I'm so proud.. and I don't even know you guys.. but it shows how you can have your own if you really try . Your home is absolutely inspiring 🥰🙏.
This is so inspiring! We can't wait to do the same!
That’s amazing. They are so courageous to make that change and stick with it for 14 years. Thanks for sharing this beautiful video. ❤

Wonderful life. How lucky your children are that you’re providing them with this lifestyle. Thanks for the video.
Awesome, so resourceful, you’ve made an all-season cabin home!
This is VERY inspiring! My husband and I bought land a few months ago and are gradually building on it. It'll be totally off-grid. This is a very inspiring video. I wish this couple all the best.
This is fantastic. I could watch this couple on KZclip, very humble, great advice 😊
I love when couples finish each other's sentences. What a amazing offering video,my favorite one actually.
Lovely to see, hope they and their family have many great years ahead of them. God bless
I thought the Amish of Pennsylvania had the interesting lifestyle. You have convinced me of what I love about diy off the grid living. It's exciting to embark on such and idea and let it fuel your enthusiasm to get it done. Good for you.✳️
I've stayed at this B&B! Stephanie and Joel were really kind and the B&B cabin was beautiful. I would highly recommend!
It's beautiful.. people just don't realise the joy from having nothing and building little by little..the gratitude and appreciation for your hard work really pays of..
What a great setup, it has it all. The cabin has soo much character!
You have both done an INCREDIBLE job.
Just beautiful...real people too...the house & other buildings have soul, absolutely enchanting. Thank you for sharing that with us...
thank you for breaking it down!!We'll have regrets for things we did not participate in...Investment should always be on any creative man's heart for success in life.
This is an opportunity for newbies and old holders alike to capitalize on a shame people don't see it, trading is everything right now
I guess y'all saw his winning stripes last week it was really blast and mind blowing up success, I have made my 1st and 2nd profits, trading with him has no cause for alarms
@Charles wow that's very nice. I just sent him a message. I would love to try out this trending algorithmic copy trading i've been hearing about. Thanks for the info
Love this - great job! I'm curious about the kids and if they will embrace the same style of living as they become independent.
They'll get ivy league MBAs and go to work for Wall Street meanies like Goldman Sachs.
Lol
One of the most beautiful houses, on or off grid, I have ever seen!!!
You guys are so inspirational. Thanks for sharing your story . You rock
At first I thought these kids are too young to go off-grid. But 14 years! Wow!!
The real miracle is that they were able to do it together, and still seem happy and in love
Good job 👍 , things could go wrong soon , and while others start learning there way, you already master it
Its simply beautiful. I feel my heart being pulled towards a more simple life in harmony with nature .
Tfs
Great job. Every time we come by we see improvement. Keep up the good work.
This was amazing and very inspirational. God bless you all !
I am blown away!! You guys are absolutely amazing.....wow!! Stunningly beautiful house. I sooo love it 😻👍🏼👏🏼
I'd be very interested in how they keep up their relationship as I can imagine that staying close and stuff isn't always easy when living this lifestyle and having kids (as it isn't easy keeping it up living a different lifestyle...)
They must have started when they were twenty! Beautiful work 🍁
Wow! Thats amazing! How is it possible that they live offgrid for 14 years? They look like they are 25years old or so??!🙂
You’ve built an amazing home. I love it. Really nice couple.
Gorgeous wholesome life and place. Thanks for sharing.
just watching this has calmed me down! need more folks like you in the world.
You have a very very beautiful place, your sitting patio area is perfect, reminds me of a hobby gift store, both of you should be extremely proud you earned it and deserve to be happy.
What a beautiful, beautiful couple! So humble and grateful!
Absolutely fascinating and wonderful. A great message👏
Wonderful people! Fine examples of hope for humanity.
They look and sound fulfilled! Makes me happy see others achieving what they yearn for!
I love it! Sadly, this is the kind of thing that I really want to watch on KZclip but I'm assuming they don't have a channel? Beautiful home. Awesome lifestyle 🤟🏾
This is really wonderful I do have to say that growing plants in front of the solar panels seems like a bad idea. My experience is that shading any cell caused a dramatic drop in efficiency.
Actually, the angle of the sun is really high in the summer and it doesn’t effect the panels at all. 😊
I was looking for this comment :D. So true. Move those under the panels. It is called agrovoltaics and some plants even grow better this way.
I enjoyed this video immensely, seems like a beautiful life.
Definitely self reliance.
This house is awesome. Does anyone know a specific name for the framing style at 1:09? He calls it post and beam, but his walls are regular stud walls. I LOVE this video!! I have seen lots of off grid stuff but this couple really knows how to make it fun and looking beautiful. The camera work is well done, some nice shots of the natural looking styling, absolutely gorgeous.
Thanks for sharing!
I've been following you for years and this is one of the coolest stories I can recall. Want to stay there sometime!
