Taylor is classic, and brilliant. Education is more than just a degree on paper. This young lady spoke like someone with more than 3 doctorate degrees.

    • Mimi

Yep!! Some people think that she shouldn’t get a doctorate, but her experiences and her skills most likely surpass what they teach in college. She just didn’t take the classes and learned the skills outside the classroom.

Dr. Taylor...I am a 45 year old woman with a young girl who loves your music. As a mother, being protective, I've search not just your music but who you are and what you represent. All I can say is that your speech had me on tears.... your music, talent, wisdom, and empathy, definitely will take myself and my girl to your concert. Don't worry any longer of what you didn't have in life. You now have a life were most can only dream of. You've made and continually making an impact to young girls most female college grad can barely scratch. I am proud of you and your family who is there with you every step of the way since hardship to now success. You are remarkable talented and very much loved. Yes we all are allowed to make mistakes. Mistakes is what makes us humans and a way for growth. Continue to shine Taylor. 🥰I am now officially a Swiftie.... 🤩

Can u please explain what does that mean? "the people who wanted it the least" want what? sorry but i am having hard time understanding that.

    • Zarahnie Domling
Zarahnie Domling 5 күн бұрын +4

@Pink Diana If you're confused with what "it" pertains to, you can change it into the words "dream" or "goal" or "success" since in the context that she's speaking, she's talking about these things. Thus, the people who wanted it the least are the people who think that being successful or achieving your dreams are effortless. Meaning, they don't want it enough to work hard on it. The people who worked hard are the ones that she's hiring now because she knows they can be dependable.

I'm a 73 year old Australian...at my age nearing the end of life's journey...I never ever expected to become an unashamed fan of this very clever... intelligent young lady...a multitalented genius who has...all by herself...albeit abley supported by those who believe in her...made such an impact upon not only her own country...but the world. And as an added bonus... beautiful as well. Listening to her giving her speech here...unassisted...no teleprompter...no notes...relevant and amongst so many superlatives interesting...no hesitation...confident. if anyone well deserves a Doctorate and incredible honor...Taylor Swift does.
In the future...when the tours are done...the songs have ended...I can think of no one more suited able and if willing and brave to serve her country enter into the turmoil of politics and stand for the Senate and for the Presidency. Amongst the turmoils and sadness...conflicts throughout the world...she alone has bought untold relief...happiness hope and joy to millions. What a star...what a legacy.

Thinking about how I was at my lowest point when I discovered Taylor's music. Then everything worsened for both of us and she disappeared but that gave me enough time to get to know her as a person and, without hesitation I became a Swiftie 🥺
Now it's been almost seven years of following her and being inspired and admired by her talent and humanity. I have grown next to her, with her songs that I've intaken as lessons and catharsis and her brilliance and wisdom that make me feel more and more proud of her every day. Seeing how much she's been through and how she has successfully overcome all obstacles in her way is truly captivating and motivating 💗
Those who realize Taylor's impact and transcendency, acknowledge this is what she deserves: being recognized, honored, and celebrated for her art and legacy. She's so much more than another female singer: she's a poet, a creative unstoppable force, and a mastermind. She has the gift of transforming all kinds of experiences into magic, into something untouchable ✨
She's providing guidance and knowledge to everybody out there through her melodies and lyrics that have turned into anthems for so many, spreading messages that bring a renewed faith in love and art and show a slight spark of hope for our chaotic and insensitive world. And the most exciting thing is that the best of her is yet to come! She's paving her way, becoming an actual legend and it's such an honor to witness her rising to the sky 🤩
She's saved my life and taught me to trust myself and she's one of the brightest lights leading me to a better and healthier place 💞

Wow taylor is really something else. I actually have to take a second to process the beauty of her speech; everything she said is so realistic, and truly not generic- yet she still manages to instil hope, positivity and motivation. Her words are like a hug that provides comfort and solace, but also makes you face reality. She really has a way with words. Taylor isn’t just a bobblehead popstar celeb, she’s truly an artisan of wisdom and experience.

The way she did almost half an hour of speech without help from the script is inspiring! As a late college student like me who started to learn and struggled to give 3-10 minutes of public speeches, it's extremely challenging to put yourself together on the stage and do your thing by memorizing. She's such an inspiration for us!

    • M Ng

Keep in mind Taylor Swift has many years of experience as a performer, experience builds confidence so its very possible she also used to have anxiety like you when doing public speeches a very long time ago. I know some very successful business people who used to be very anxious just introducing themselves eventually have zero anxiety doing public presentations in front of large audience after enough experience.

these words really touched my heart today. Beautiful.
“ being publicly humiliated over and over again at a young age was excruciatingly painful but it forced me to devalue the ridiculous notion of minute by minute ever fluctuating social relevance likability.”

Taylor Swift's Speech is so amazing and great for me to wake up and realize my mistake, what I hit and did harmfully with myself and the others. Sometime in some point of our lives, we also have to hit the bottom, but the important things is your attitude and reaction, what to do next: Keep falling or Standing up. Today I watch her performance and even thought I'm not a a really super super huge big Fan, I still feel so thankful and proud for what she got in NYU and inspired for us. How cool is she!!!!

When you speak with such honesty and truth mostly derived from your own life experience, you don't even have to memorize those words.
Taylor is such a genuine artist which brought her to where she is today and she will continue to inspire and motivate many generations to come.

I have to be honest ! Until quite recently (last year or so) I was not really familiar with Taylor Swift and her music. As an European Male aged 62, I kinda knew about her, had heard some music without real attention and that was it. Lately - based on the publicity of the success of the ERA tour - I got a little interested. And I have to admit, that the lady is really iconic ! Talented yet cool, successful yet humble, professional yet authentic, hard worker yet balanced. And really really well spoken ! I did not expect such a speech, both in terms of context and eloquence ! I am impressed. Well done Dr. Taylor Swift.

The best simple , real, meaningful, relevant, and funny graduation speech ever. And I am the graduation committee chairman for my school for over ten years now. I liked Taylor, weird name for a girl, the first time I heard her. Now I know why such a young person has so much depth in her songs after listening to her. She is wiser than some of us will ever be in our entire life. Now I don't just like her, I truly think Taylor rocks as a person. Oh, Dr. Taylor you got a life fan in the western most Pacific island nation of Palau.

Sometimes i feel like she is just like us which tbh makes me happy that I'm not alone in those difficult and confused moments..The way she frame her words and sentences with confidence n humor.. it's so beautiful, I can feel so much honesty and authenticity from her words.. I just love her so much as a person, how she is, her mind, her humor, her creativity, her softness, her down to earth nature, literally everything.. Five quotes that moved me forever from this speech:
    1. Decide what is your to hold and let the rest go
    2. Learn to live alongside cringe - no matter how hard you try to avoid being cringe, you will look back on your life and cringe retrospectively
    3. I am a big advocate for not hiding your enthusiasm for things
    4. The people who want the most are the people I hire to work for my company
    5. As long as we are fortunate enough to be breathing - we will breathe in, breathe through, breathe deep, breathe out. I am a doctor now so I know how breathings works
    Love Taylor. ❤

So we don't need to care how we look like or whether us show cringe in that time. Just enjoy it! When we look back after several years, the failed selection or other failure we thought before may bring us unexpected surprising reward.
