@Kernel Panic "I won" What did you win, the Tardfest Internet Warrior Award? 😂. rock bands should be sloppy live. That's what makes it rock and not the safespace bull crap you listen to. this really doesn't seem sloppy at all tho.

Props to touring guitarist Brian Robert Jones. In songs like "Decode", he's carrying most of the load, playing the opening riff, playing the solos, and singing a tremendous harmony vocal. Jeez.

If you like that you should check out Devin Townsend, he does the most incredible vocals whilst playing some absolutely ridiculous riffs and solos. My personal favourite video of him is Deadhead live at Royal Albert Hall (although seeing him in person was even more stunning)

I was really bummed when Justin York announced that he was retiring from touring. His vocals became an essential part of the live Paramore experience. However, Brian has blown me away as his successor. They definitely picked the right person for the job. Apparently, he plays bass on the entirety of the new album too. Extremely versatile and talented guy.

They are absolute legends. @Braxton Bragg That's coz FOH engineers like us go to great lengths to minimise spill these days .. The Neve Primary Source Enhancer is my fav plug -in for that exact reason. Note their engineer is using an SM57 on the hi hat, you don't do that if you don't care about spill.

    • Robert Lambertson
Robert Lambertson 4 ай бұрын +3

@Braxton Bragg There are back tracks for parts of the song like harmonies or certain lines in every song yes. But clearly 90% of the vocals are live, she makes tons of mistakes and fully changes parts of the song. The she's literally doing voices during songs as a joke. Actually watch the show, I've done music for 15 years. You're wrong

    • Braxton Bragg
      Braxton Bragg 4 ай бұрын

@Robert Lambertson Most live music recordings have the band go into the studio afterwards and track over the video of their live performance, especially vocals.
I mean I don't hear any bleed from the audience or other instruments on the vocal track in particular.
No it's not the "studio" sound of the album, but I'm pretty positive it's not 100% the live audio. Drums are probably live. I'll give it another listen with my good headphones, but yeah I'm pretty sure this, like most live music recordings these days, isn't really what the audience heard at the show.
EDIT: listen with good monitors or headphones and pay close attention to 2:14-2:18, don't think this is the live vocal audio.

    • Robert Lambertson
Robert Lambertson 4 ай бұрын +3

    Lyrics caught in the middle:
I can't think of getting old
It only makes me want to die
And I can't think of who I was
'Cause it just makes me want to cry, cry, cry
Can't look back, can't look too far ahead
I got the point, I got the message
I'm just a little bit caught in the middle
I try to keep going but it's not that simple
I think I'm a little bit caught in the middle
Gotta keep going or they'll call me a quitter
Yeah, I'm caught in the middle
    I was dreaming life away
All the while just going blind
Can't see forest for the trees
Behind the lids of my own eyes
Nostalgia's cool, but it won't help me now
A dream is good, if you don't wear it out
I'm just a little bit caught in the middle
I try to keep going but it's not that simple
I think I'm a little bit caught in the middle
Gotta keep going or they'll call me a quitter
Yeah, I'm caught in the middle
No, I don't need no help
I can sabotage me by myself
    Don't need no one else
I can sabotage me by myself
    I don't need no help
I can sabotage me by myself
    Don't need no one else
I can sabotage me by myself
    I don't need no help
I can sabotage me by myself
    Don't need no one else
I can sabotage me by myself
    I don't need no help
I can sabotage me by myself
    Don't need no one else
I can sabotage me by myself
I'm just a little bit caught in the middle
I try to keep going but it's not that simple
I think I'm a little bit caught in the middle
Gotta keep going or they'll call me a quitter
Yeah, I'm caught in the middle
    I'm caught in the middle

    Lyrics misery business :
I'm in the business of misery
Let's take it from the top
She's got a body like an hourglass, it's ticking like a clock
It's a matter of time before we all run out
When I thought he was mine, she caught him by the mouth
I waited eight long months, she finally set him free
I told him I couldn't lie, he was the only one for me
Two weeks and we had caught on fire
She's got it out for me, but I wear the biggest smile
Whoa, I never meant to brag
But I got him where I want him now
Whoa, it was never my intention to brag
To steal it all away from you now
But God, does it feel so good
'Cause I got him where I want him now
And if you could, then you know you would
'Cause God it just feels so
    It just feels so good
Second chances they don't ever matter, people never change
Once a whore, you're nothing more
    I'm sorry, that'll never change
And about forgiveness, we're both supposed to have exchanged
I'm sorry, honey, but I passed it up, now look this way
Well, there's a million other girls who do it just like you
Looking as innocent as possible to get to who
They want and what they want, it's easy if you do it right
    Well I refuse, I refuse, I refuse
Whoa, I never meant to brag
But I got him where I want him now
Whoa, it was never my intention to brag
To steal it all away from you now
But God, does it feel so good
'Cause I got him where I want him right now
And if you could, then you know you would
'Cause God, it just feels so
    It just feels so good
I watched his wildest dreams come true
Not one of them involving you
Just watch my wildest dreams come true
    Not one of them involving
Whoa, I never meant to brag
But I got him where I want him now
Whoa, I never meant to brag
But I got him where I want him now
Whoa, it was never my intention to brag
To steal it all away from you now
But God, does it feel so good
'Cause I got him where I want him now
And if you could then you know you would
'Cause God, it just feels so
    It just feels so good

To say that Paramore was ahead of their time in 2009 is an understatement for sure. I remember the exodus of listeners after misery businesses came out and I felt crazy for being the only one that thought the album kicked ass. Then that’s what you get came out and that was it for a lot of people that thought it was “gay” which I also thought was probably a slur but what did I know I was in high school. Now I’m 30 years old and those people were always fucking wrong and I’m still fucking right. I never forgot paramore, long live.
