@Avi Subba NO. Surgeons are generally the prima donnas of the medical field. I've never met a humble surgeon. This surgeon is correct in saying that he shouldn't take all the credit. The OR is a very specialized place where everyone has their specific roles, and those roles don't spill over to the other. From the surgeon(s) to the assistant(s) to the techs to the nurse(s) to the anesthesiologist -- they are all integral, although, as this amazing surgeon acknowledged, it's generally the surgeon who gets all the glory. This surgeon's mindset is an exception to the rule.
@Smelly Patel I'm not disagreeing with you, but I haven't seen the positional switch you're talking about. Do you have any sources or stories you're thinking of? I'd like to look at some.
That’s how lots of surgeons are. My grandfather was a general surgeon for 40 years and was the most brilliant, intelligent, and well spoken man I’ve ever known, but was also extremely humble.
The most difficult neuro surgery in the world is the one that I suffering it's pain since birth up to now, I'm Mr Cazeem from Somalia live in India 🇮🇳 I'm 36 years old, when All neurology doctors in India said we can't do your surgery and my money completely finished I registered my self in UNHCR as a refugee for medical case help. I contacted so many Hospitals around the world like Mayo Clinic Rochester USA 🇺🇸 after I sent All my medical records with MRI and CT Scan CDs 💿 they said we can't do it, your surgery is very bad and difficult. So I'm requesting All of you to pray for me to get healthy that I waiting since 36 years. Thanks All of you 😘 ☺️ 😊
@Chuck Norris and forget the salary comes later on at least mid-30 as someone in STEM I bet I can be richer than him just cuz I earned more without debt from collage even thou his job is way harder than mine
@Dr Clown Lots of people see the salaries and assume they must be hyper rich but forget the disgusting amount of debt the system and banks force them to accrue to even enroll.
I commend each of you. Medicine was what I wanted to study when I was in my teens. My mom was an occupational therapist and I would grab her biology and anatomy books and just get lost in the information. I wasn’t smart enough to get through required math so my dream went unrealized. I have the utmost respect and admiration for the people in the medical field or going into it.
Dr Lee replaced my aortic valve a year and a half ago. He is a wonderful surgeon, physician, and human being. I owe my life to him and the entire team at RWJ Barnabas Medical Center.
Hi Dr Lee! You did a double bypass on me on 12/11/2020 other then a little rib cage pain I feel great! I can walk over 2 miles without feeling wiped out. I can't wait to start riding my Bike! Have a Great Day and People don't be afraid, I am 53 and feeling great again!
I’m a heart clinician and just in case you don’t know, 4 cases by 4pm is incredibly fast. Especially with a double valve on the 2nd case. There are some surgeons that take until 4pm to do 1 case! Fastest surgeon I’ve ever worked with does 4 cases by 6pm. How amazing.
Tell me about it..from an anesthesia standpoint this is insane too. I know the anesthesiologists and CRNAs are probably very thankful. I have been in a single bypass when it was 3 pm that we rolled to ICU with a 7 am start time..then the surgeon had another bypass to start afterwards.
I am a minimally invasive robotic surgeon in his early 40’s. When I was in medical school at Cornell, some 15 years ago, I had the pleasure to watch Dr Lee perform a CABG. He is an absolute beast. A surgical GOD, if there ever were one. He’s precise and extremely efficient. To this day, I have never witnessed anyone operate like him. He is masterful. Like poetry in motion.
Hello dear.. I am a fresh CTS resident from Egypt.. I would like to ask you if you know a way to do minimally invasive surgery like a master, training or something like that ? Thanks in advance.
As an OR nurse, this doctor is pure efficient. You can tell he also treats his coworkers with respect and stays very humble. This is what a good doctor looks like.
@Enrique Pantin that's so cool. You guys literally saving lives. It's because of people like you and Dr Lee that my father is alive today. He has bypass surgery when I was 9 so I have much respect for people who work in the medical field.
Dr. Lee & his awesome team, did my mitral valve repair in March of 2019. The nursing staff was wonderful in the intensive care unit. The discharge team was very thorough and caring.
It feels great when awesome doctors like him, recognize that’s it’s never only their glory and their work that need to be congratulated. Anesthesiologists doctors and their fellow nurses, Us, the nurses in the General ICU, the heart surgeons. Everyone needs to be congratulated 😊 It’s a team work and that’s why I love it.
It is so nice to hear this physician recognize the hard work of everyone that is a part of his surgical team! It really is a team effort from the Anesthesiologist, RN circulators, surgical technologists, to the room attendants that help turn over the ORs between cases! These teams work hard!
@Kelvin Maison It doesn't change what age you are, even a 70 year-old man could pass out. Different people different Problems. If you're fine watching this type of videos, then good for you.
I love that Dr. Lee explains what he’s doing in such a way that a layman like myself can understand what he’s talking about. He’s clearly a fantastic doctor and more importantly, human being.
God bless you sir. As an aortic valve replacement recipient and triple bypass patient, ( Nov 2018 Akron General Hospital, Cleveland Clinic Doctor) I watched this video and was impressed. May you have many successful operations and a long fulfilling career. It’s folks like you that saved my life. Keep up the great work !
I am so happy!! I am a medical student and just found out that I was accepted for a placement in cardiac surgery for a uni hospital in Switzerland, literally my dream work place that I was so anxious it wouldn’t work out!! So excited for the future!!!!
@Christine I wish this is how it was in Australia. Not to be xenophobic, but international students take all of our spots. not even necessarily because they are smarter, but because it's more expensive for them, so the government lowers the marks they need to get in by a considerable amount in order to make more money out of it. its terrible
@Christine Hey, medical student from Germany here, and I am planning to apply to residency in Switzerland after finishing my degree here. May I ask where you got the information from, that German doctors get paid less than Swiss natives?
Dr Lee, a friggin Rock Star!!! You snuck me in even though you were booked solid for the Tavor Procedure. Saving me tons of pain and healing time with the conventional heart surgery that I was scheduled for. It’s been now over a year and I’ve never felt better. You walk amongst the Gods! Thank you!
I lost my father to a heart attack late last year and I think it could have been totally avoided if we were having regular checks up from a good cardiologist!
The work this hospital and doctor does is beyond amazing. We should all feel really fortunate to have this kind of medical care available to us. The doctor and his team very precise and efficient and make it seem like another day at the office.
2:00...a standard phone call, one he probably makes a dozen times a week, to let a relative know a "minor" surgery went well...however never underestimate the relief felt by the relative on the phone. You can tell by the way the woman gasps...this guy is one of the many true heroes of this world
The result of decades of growth, learning and improving... plus he seems like a really kind person and made sure to give credit to the whole team. A true inspiration.
This is truly remarkable to see all these people not treat this as a paycheck, but people who truly appreciate helping someone they don't know and being so efficient in helping them get better. Amazing....simply amazing
Lowly pre-med here currently trying to get in med school. I must say, Dr. Lee looks like the man. Would love to be a cardiac surgeon like him one day. Thank you all so much for the video!! EDIT: just got accepted into medical school, will be an MD soon!!
Thank you for acknowledging the team that makes the process smooth and looks easy. Dr lee is right it’s the after care that makes the difference. Those team of nurses, pcas, PTs, dietary etc who will make that patient recover safely.
They get paid based on what they bring in, it's that simple. If you want these surgeons to earn more, surely you want people to pay more for operations right? Because that increases the hospital's revenue which increases the surgeon's salary.
You know that to become a highest footballers you must working hard...isnt easy...training diet training diet focus...focus...do you think that easy?? You have to stay in shape and healthy.....
Thank you Doctor Lee and to the many Doctors, Nurses, Technicians and Scientists across the world who take care of our health! Your skills and dedication are appreciated beyond measure. God Bless You All.
Thats a good doctor right there. I've been in sleep medicine as a registered sleep technologist for years now, and I've had my fair share of crappy sleep docs, but this not only takes care of himself but everyone him from patients to other colleagues
Amazing to watch this, hats off! The people in the OR have to be absolutely sure of what they are doing, that it’s the absolute correct decision. No one is looking over their shoulder and telling them oh you should not do that but should do this instead. They are the ones who know what they are doing, and saving lives. Amazing.
I am a high schooler preparing for medical entrance exam and unlike many aspirants, I've a full plan of what exactly i want to get called as and here comes my all time motivation, it's just his schedule and vlogs that makes me motivated towards my goal. I've a really long and tough journey until i get accepted in the med school, hope we all achieve what we truly dream for
They are the true legends in real ground. Cant describe what surgeons have an impact on our life. Really inspired to be a doctor to see them thoigh i know the path is difficult and long.
Holy crap Dr. Lee... I can't even imagine doing what you do, I just can't. You guys are heroes in the truest sense of the word. Tho I don't know you, in 6 minutes I like you very much. You have a wonderful manner & I'm positive your patients love and appreciate you. Rock on!! 👍❤️
In my institution, they could only do 2 cases like this and last until 4 pm. Dr. Lee finished all 4 including the rounds by 4:30 pm, showing how skilled and competent he is. Amazing, indeed.
The way he says it's the team, it's really great. These are the exact same words said by my Head of Dept. I'm a Cardiothoracic surgery resident and it's very good to see such great people everyday
Dr Lee, you are an inspiration to me; watching this makes me realise how much I want to be a heart surgeon and to never give up on my dreams of becoming someone like you one day. I have a quick question for any heart surgeons reading this right now; as a girl who would also like to start a family of my own one day, does this job give u enough time to spend with family? Or can you be a part time surgeon so you can do the school runs occasionally but also be an amazing heart surgeon like Dr Lee? Thanks so much in advance! And thank you to all those heart surgeons out there and other people saving our lives; you're truly heroes.
I love that he made a point that it’s not just the doctor that makes an operation successful. It’s the ENTIRE team. Every. Single. Person. PACU nurses, circulation nurse, surgical techs, sterile techs, anesthesiologist and nurse anesthetist, acute care, cna, LPN. All of them.
What a nice man to give credit to all of the other people!!! You don't see that often with surgeons. I've been a nurse for 33 years and I have never heard a doctor say anything close to that!
I am currently pursuing MBBS from kasturba medical college mangalore .. I am getting motivated while watching this video.. keep it up doctor for the consistent surgeries.. hope that one day I also become a cardiac surgeon
You will surely become. Nothing in this world is impossible. I am also a MBBS student in Divine Word University in Papua New Guinea. This video has really motivated me. I hope one fine day I will become a Cardiac surgeon like Dr.Lee .
My grandma had gotten a heart attack and if it wasn’t for these drs, my grandma definitely wouldn’t be with us today. So much respect to these doctors who work hard everyday to keep our hearts going strong🤍
Bless those dedicated surgeons. My son has had 3 open heart surgeries and he’s in the process of qualifying for a heart transplant. He’s a CHD patient Transposition of great Arteries. You are doing miracles.
This has mixed feelings for me. I was recently diagnosed with a mitral valve deformity, so someday I myself will need to get one of these procedures. But it's calming a bit to know that there is professionals seeking the best care.
You cardiac surgeons are awesome. My husband had his first bypass when he was 39 in 1982. At that time the nurses said they’d never seen that young of a bypass patient. He had been a heavy smoker and the surgeon told him one more cigarette and your dead, and he stopped completely. However had another one in 2092, but so far at 78 his heart is good ! Sometimes you need a bit of tough love.
Hi Dr Lee, I'm very much impressed, the way you are talking with patients relatives before surgery. You are a balanced Doctor. May God bless you and do more for cardiac patients. Ranajit from India, Kolkata.
Amazing how a life can be improved and prolonged by an incision on the left side by a dedicated and skilled surgeon. All fine with me, Dr. Lee, but may I schedule an appointment? We need more like yourself, your mother raised a good son.
I loved how Dr. Lee says the entire team works hard! Trying to say it wasn’t him alone working during surgery. It was team work! Such a humble guy! Lovely!
After working in both vascular and general surgery as a surgical tech. I was impressed that the Dr. added that all the surgeries were because of "these talented people", the staff! Now to follow the staff for just one heart procedure - from the cleaning and sterilization of equipment, to the setting up the case & patient in the room - that would be interesting. Remember the Dr. walks out and scrubs up to do the next case with the patient already in the room. The choreographing of personnel and equipment is an amazing.
Makes me tear up every time I see videos like this. This are true worriers, they fight death every day. I don’t think most of people thanks them enough.
I loved this! You can tell his confidence. And he said something so important that I lecture on all of the time, it took a TEAM to make it all happen excellently!
every single one of you guys are absolutely goats. it’s incredible to see how a team of people can make a small incision.. and fix the inside of your heart.. it’s just another day for these guys
Imagine your work being so Important that people pray for you and your efforts the entire time and cry tears of relief when you tell them things went well. Seriously amazing
It is a fast paced specialty. Most I worked with were focused, 2 teams, if CABG. No hesitation. They are masters at their profession. Valves replaced a bit different, dissecting aneurysms very fast paced. Long days. Deep respect. Like anyone, some a bit better. An honor working with them
I LOVE how he pays respect to everyone else in the OR by saying that they are a huge part of the team necessary, too! Not all heroes wear capes, huh :D
I’m 14 and I wanna be a surgeon, mostly cardiac surgery and this really inspired me you’re great, I couldn’t imagine waking up at 6AM to see blood but it’s something I wanted to do since I was 6
These men and women are the true heroes of the world. Their dedication, professionalism and great skills are truly remarkable.
Yess that's right 👍👍
@ifitscool Why are you so upset about this?
Agree
@sandeep sandy There's some really good female surgeon's out there, it's not just men.
A cardiac surgeon giving 15% credit to himself .....a salute to you doc...

Doctors never ask for credit or recognition for what they do everyday, this is what makes this profession different from others
@Smelly Patel I'm not disagreeing with you, but I haven't seen the positional switch you're talking about. Do you have any sources or stories you're thinking of? I'd like to look at some.
Extremely competent AND humble -- a rare and welcomed combination of traits for a cardiac surgeon!

True
Holy crap....he works faster than a plumber. He saved 4 lives today; I ate my lunch and took a nap.

Thanks All of you 😘 ☺️ 😊
It is just a job
Plumbers also save lives by providing sanitary living conditions.
Me too
and now you realize how much time you wasted. Common let's be productive.
Everyone who does this stressful and brave job earns nothing than pure respect
They don't drive Mercedes Benz and live in huge houses by paying for it in respect.
What a stupid statement
@Chuck Norris and forget the salary comes later on at least mid-30 as someone in STEM I bet I can be richer than him just cuz I earned more without debt from collage even thou his job is way harder than mine
And a great living 🤣🤣🤣
@Dr Clown Lots of people see the salaries and assume they must be hyper rich but forget the disgusting amount of debt the system and banks force them to accrue to even enroll.
@Michael Malkus being and becoming a surgeon is the difficult task than any other job....they still don't get paid enough for their efforts 🖤
Studying for my last medical school exam on my way to become a cardiothoracic surgeon. Keep it up guys!!!
how it went?
i wanna be a cardiothoracic too but I'm still in my 1st yr of 4 years bachelors degree
congrats!!!
Hello there,am praying and working hard to become a cardio thoracic surgeon 😷 one day
I commend each of you. Medicine was what I wanted to study when I was in my teens. @Nucleus Medical Media thanks you too we like your content
@SallyBugs Wow, thank you!
Hi Dr Lee! You did a double bypass on me on 12/11/2020 other then a little rib cage pain I feel great! I can walk over 2 miles without feeling wiped out. I can't wait to start riding my Bike! Have a Great Day and People don't be afraid, I am 53 and feeling great again!
@lamalordddd how would you know? It’s not funny to joke about how someone got ill.
My wife is pregnant. But they discover one side of the heart valve is smaller and blood isn't flowing. Any advice before?
@Shahid Mirza karachi

Heart clinician? If you're not a cardiologist, just say what you are. It's confusing to patients.
Tell me about it..from an anesthesia standpoint this is insane too. I know the anesthesiologists and CRNAs are probably very thankful. I have been in a single bypass when it was 3 pm that we rolled to ICU with a 7 am start time..then the surgeon had another bypass to start afterwards.
im sure there was a lot prep work done by all the people involved in surgery , prior to him entering the OP . he was like doing drive thru surgery
This is the result of the organization, not the speed of a single surgeon.
Did my rotation, Lear’s lot, ended up in Urology. Plastics, EENT. One Caries OR anatomy to wherever they go.
I was gonna say the same thing as well. Also a fellow OR nurse.
Only a few cardiac surgeons in the world have the same quality and speed of work as Dr Lee! He is as pleasant to work with on and off camera!!
@Leonard Lee You're very inspiring, thank you.
@Enrique Pantin that's so cool. You guys literally saving lives. It's because of people like you and Dr Lee that my father is alive today. He has bypass surgery when I was 9 so I have much respect for people who work in the medical field.
@Mehdy Ghaffari yes, very often.
@Leonard Lee thankyou for the good work you do dr lee
U work with him?
Dr. Lee & his awesome team, did my mitral valve repair in March of 2019. The nursing staff was wonderful in the intensive care unit. The discharge team was very thorough and caring.
How is the repair doing? Are there any leakings?
It feels great when awesome doctors like him, recognize that’s it’s never only their glory and their work that need to be congratulated. Anesthesiologists doctors and their fellow nurses, Us, the nurses in the General ICU, the heart surgeons. Everyone needs to be congratulated 😊 It’s a team work and that’s why I love it.
the credit he dishes out is beautiful. i swear being humble is 100x better than taking credit
There's a reason surgeons like this guy are treated with such high respect. The life he leads commands it! Thank God for dr Lee and those like him
It is so nice to hear this physician recognize the hard work of everyone that is a part of his surgical team! It really is a team effort from the Anesthesiologist, RN circulators, surgical technologists, to the room attendants that help turn over the ORs between cases! These teams work hard!
So glad they didn't show any of the surgery, literally would have passed out haha. Bless this man for what he does. Absolute legend
I WANT to see the heart....
Weird video to click on
Surgery can go up to hours.. Some can be 12hours long! Non-stop
@Kelvin Maison It doesn't change what age you are, even a 70 year-old man could pass out. Different people different Problems. If you're fine watching this type of videos, then good for you.
I'm 10, and I don't pass out 🤔
I love that Dr. Lee explains what he’s doing in such a way that a layman like myself can understand what he’s talking about. He’s clearly a fantastic doctor and more importantly, human being.
He makes it look so easy damn what a humble man
@Smelly Patel racism beats racism i guess? as much as i hate agathas comment, you use an odd choice of words.

The work this hospital and doctor does is beyond amazing. We should all feel really fortunate to have this kind of medical care available to us. The doctor and his team very precise and efficient and make it seem like another day at the office.

What a humble surgeon you are Dr.Lee, claiming (only) 10-15% of the operation's success rate. Congratulations to your awesome team!
Dr. Lee has all the traits someone would want in a doctor: compassion, rigor, and kindness.
Can't imagine the stress of going through this EVERYDAY! Respect to the doctors!
This is truly remarkable to see all these people not treat this as a paycheck, but people who truly appreciate helping someone they don't know and being so efficient in helping them get better. Amazing....simply amazing
He’s an amazing surgeon and person. Treats staff, families, patients with care and respect. Top notch!
Thank you, Doc for showing us how you set up your day and operate on your patients. This was very interesting and lets us know how the system works!
Within 9 hours this guy did 4 heart surgeries, amazing. I am a patient transporter and getting to see these guys and gals is an honor
Lowly pre-med here currently trying to get in med school. I must say, Dr. Lee looks like the man. Would love to be a cardiac surgeon like him one day. Thank you all so much for the video!!
EDIT: just got accepted into medical school, will be an MD soon!!
congrats!!
Congrats dude! Starting my pre med journey soon
@X another mindless mad at the world, trying to bring others down :/ probably unemployed too
@X stupid as hell😂
Thank you for acknowledging the team that makes the process smooth and looks easy. Dr lee is right it’s the after care that makes the difference. Those team of nurses, pcas, PTs, dietary etc who will make that patient recover safely.
What a true professional humble caring man! Well done Dr.Lee changing and saving lives! ❤️
For real, they should get paid like a well known footballer. They are the smartest people ever.
I second that
They get paid based on what they bring in, it's that simple. If you want these surgeons to earn more, surely you want people to pay more for operations right? Because that increases the hospital's revenue which increases the surgeon's salary.
@sketch TM if you a scummy doctor who only deals in elder/senior care you’ll rake in that amount. Or maybe if you’re as dentist.
You know that to become a highest footballers you must working hard...isnt easy...training diet training diet focus...focus...do you think that easy?? You have to stay in shape and healthy.....
You going to pay them?
Dr. Lee you are truly amazing! Competence with humility, a rare combination amongst doctors in the US.
Thank you Doctor Lee and to the many Doctors, Nurses, Technicians and Scientists across the world who take care of our health! Your skills and dedication are appreciated beyond measure. God Bless You All.
Great job Dr Lee. Thanks to the whole team.
Great work Dr. Lee and thank you for acknowledging the effort of the rest of the team.

Amazing work. Huge respect.
I hope my son or daughter go down the path of this very useful and admirable profession.
This guy is beyond amazing god bless you and all the people you work with and all the people in the medical community this is true heroism.

@Baby Yoda Ok..
Don't do it! I'm cardiac surgeon in Washington DC. It's not worth it, go into emergency medicine
How old ru bro
You will surely become. Nothing in this world is impossible.
I am also a MBBS student in Divine Word University in Papua New Guinea. This video has really motivated me. I hope one fine day I will become a Cardiac surgeon like Dr.Lee .
we wish the world should create more doctors like Dr . Lee....
Amazing human beings are always in here! I have sooo much respect for surgeons and nurses!!!
CI nurse...total respect for what these men and women do and feel privileged to take care of their patients post OP!!
My grandma had gotten a heart attack and if it wasn’t for these drs, my grandma definitely wouldn’t be with us today. So much respect to these doctors who work hard everyday to keep our hearts going strong🤍
So thankful for competent professionals such as Dr. Lee and the fine support team!
The respect u guys get is amazing...
A big respect to Doc and his team
Respect for all of those doctors in the world ❤️
Surgeons are real life super heroes 🦸♀️ 🦸♂️ what they do is just seriously amazing.
I've had the privilege of observing an 8 hour CABG x4 procedure. Loved every bit of it. Even though I was standing the entire time.
Salute to Dr Lee and all the other healthcare professionals working tirelessly.
Hi Dr Lee, I'm very much impressed, the way you are talking with patients relatives before surgery. You are a balanced Doctor.
May God bless you and do more for cardiac patients.
Ranajit from India, Kolkata.
Unbelievable and amazing to watch and listen to this doctor. Fantastic human being.
Lovely!
My aortic valve replacement will be a major milestone in my life, but for these guys it's just 9am. Amazing :)
Hearing the family’s reaction to good news is the best feeling in the world
After working in both vascular and general surgery as a surgical tech.
Great video - what a team! That's a lot of high-pressured work to cram into a day, well done.
the fact that he gave credits for the rest of the team amazed me. he is such an amazing surgeon
I’m a stroke survivor myself. I suffered from Ischemic stroke 2 years ago. but life goes on keep fighting stroke survivors.Thank you
Fascinating work. Built upon years of dedication and sacrifice. God bless our healthcare workers.
What a wonderful doctor. My goodness, I’m so impressed.
These people saved my life and I wish to do the same for others one day as a cardiothoracic surgeon.
Good Luck Bud❤️
Imagine your work being so Important that people pray for you and your efforts the entire time and cry tears of relief when you tell them things went well. Seriously amazing
These surgeons are at an entirely different plane of existence. Their confidence, talent, skill, and overall demeanor are amazing.
Utter respect to these Doctors and patients . God bless you all
Dr Lee and his team are wonderful along with the great nursing and support staff in the cardiac unit as well!
My dad just had a bypass surgery, i’m so thankful for these people 🙏🏿
Can’t believe how calm he is, doctors amaze me
It is a fast paced specialty.
