You know..... it's possible Tampa wanted to fire Byron last season but Brady fought to keep him b/c he liked him and now that Brady is leaving they wanted to cut ties now in order to find the future guy before other teams got into the mix.
@Warren Kemmer dude they thru me in solitary fight win 30 seconds 4 days in a row finally I said look man ill give you a candy bar when we get out to stop...unbelievable...he couldn't Take a white person getting the best of em...I've got 20 examples
@Steve yup definitely can't take that head up beat down like a man. always attack in packs but I blame others for not sticking together like they should and dish it back out
@Jamin Hodges Brady did have like a 105 passer rating vs. pressure. So I'd ask, "Did you see all the times where he beat the defense while under pressure?"
Teams are so impatient, if you don't win the SB every year you're in jeopardy of getting fired (with a very few exceptions, e.g. Tomlin). Very good coaches are getting fired all over the place and never get the opportunity for stability. These teams are so busy looking for "the answer", they fail to see what they have, fail to nurture talent, and will continue to fail to win. Toxic environments won't attract good coaches.
I agree. Tampa lost half of the Superbowl winning offensive line plus all the injuries in the secondary. Plus a weak run game which goes back to the weak offensive line. Leftwich is a good OC in my opinion. He was just the scapegoat. They needed someone to blame. Todd Bowles in my opinion isn't a head coach. Great DC, but not a head coach
I’m not a Tampa bay bucs fan but that o line was horrible n they run game was nonexistent. Tom Brady was never built to play without a good o line or run game. So I wouldn’t say Tom Brady is washed because of that but his bad play to me come from him not having good protection, which throws him completely off. Tom was never a good scrambler because he was never that athletic. So I feel bad for Brian n Tom for real.
BA is that Energy that Byron needed..!!!! when It came to big Play calling..!!! Todd Is a GREAT..DC and He has Said that.!!!!! that DisConnection with TB12 and Mike was SO BIG for the BUCS..!!!
The offensive line affects the play action pass and run game a lot because if you can't stop defensive ends from getting to Brady how would a play action pass or run game work at all
Brady looked lost and tired most of the 2022 season ( including that wild card game ). There were ( obviously ) huge coaching problems in Tampa. So when a disaster happens, more often than not, it occurs for many reasons. Especially in a team sport like football.
There's alot of reasons Brady didn't play well but regressing wasn't one of them. He had alot of he surrounding problems he did his last year in New England but then went on 2 of his best statistical sessions of his career after everyone thought he regressed
Arm strength hasn't regressed. Supporting cast makes a difference. Half the receiving core of last year. Most dropped passes in the NFL. Worst rushing offense. Yes, similar to his last year in new England
He has def regressed. Each year he’s more and more afraid of getting hit( I don’t blame him) but this causes him to play more passively taking check downs over the money plays.
My belief is Todd is to blame for Byron getting fired. He saw 2 good years with Tom under BA and a bad year under him... he knew heads would roll and this already being his second chance he wasn't going to let it be his...
As a Buccaneers fan this saddens me. I understand why they did it, the offense was not good even though the offensive line was injured all season. I just liked the guy.
@Lenon Cho leftwich made rbs run down middle endlessly , we were losing games that way. I also suspect his routes calling was sub par but i tuned out midway through the season.
Byron Leftwich saved this offense from looking even worse than it did. It's not a big loss for him. He'll have his pick of teams that want him in the near future.
Firing Byron won’t mean a thing if they don’t improve the offensive Line & other players don’t get healthy, really nobody is to blame, this team just couldn’t overcome injuries
@c2itccase9 he still had like a top 10 season with all the mess that happened in 2022 and he litterally can make every throw and he is going to cost less than his level of play should command cause he wants to win? Just a few reasons off the top of my head.
@Ben Stallone that’s not incorrect… Shanahan, Andy Reid, McVay, etc all get credit for being great offensive minds and play callers by every single analyst… when have you ever heard Leftwich or BA get any credit for the offense??? Don’t worry I’ll wait
@thetarheel2010j So because you perceive other people gave Brady too much credit for previous success you now think that means the Buccs recent failure is all Brady's fault... despite all the problems listed? That makes no sense. COmplete non-sequitur
@EviL187 RamBo this is why you don’t ,never will, and never could having anything to do with a football organization. This statement is ignorant af. TB12, the goat with 7 rings on the bench…And start who??? gabbert? Lol
@Ben Stallone when has Leftwich or BA ever gotten in credit for any of the play calls??? It’s always Brady and they lose, it’s everyone else’s fault… so if the OLine is trash, run game trash, and WR led the league is drops… then how is Byron being blamed again??
Any person that watched every play had to question Byron's gameplan and decisions. Constant 1st down up the middle runs that were predictable and often stuffed for no gain, leaving rookie LG Goedeke after playing horrible for far too long. Let's not forget his decision to not let backup RB White not get any kind of reps till halfway through the season. The lack of play action that Tom Brady excels at was also bewildering but Skip and Shay Shay only look at the big games and the final stats and not EVERY play. It's easy to blame Tom but honestly he had no O-line or creative play caller and did the best with that he could despite the coaching.....
Brady was to put it simply playing like a 45 year old this year. Byron was the same guy as last year the only difference was Brady's execution. He maybe the GOAT but even goats get old.
100% agree. The only thing I would disagree with is Brady missed a lot of open recievers this year. Skip likes to dismiss his dwindling arm talent with his ability to still throw the long ball but that's not what Brady has become bad at. His accuracy has sunk drastically and it caused his recievers to doubt him being able to even get it to them.
This season was absolutely a coaching problem. Guys just didn't come prepared. I could just tell practices were too lax under Bowles. BA used to have the guys dress up in pads far more often, and even if the guys hated it, they came ready to play on Sunday. I saw way too many videos this year with Bowles finishing his post-game speeches with "See yall on Wednesday...."
@Logan Comstock And all of those superbowls was all because of Tom and nobody else? If people are over blaming coaches, offensive line, receivers for losing, then they have to have some kind of accountability as to how tom got those 7 superbowls.
@daniel walker Right. It's clear as day that Brady didn't play that well this year but they have to look for the token sacrificial lamb for Tom. It is so annoying.
Every coach' job is on the line every season whether it's your fault or not😭 no matter how good of a team you have, injuries are inevitable so you have to be lucky winning the sb by being the most healthy at the end. It is what it is🤤
As a Bucs fan….our offense started slow EVERY game. Our first possession was always either a field goal or a punt. Not enough down the field shots. Too many screens and cute stuff.
I think tod Bowles wanted to hire his own staff, it’s reported he didn’t have a chance because of the late hiring to interview and appoint his own staff, I think that combined with the fact that byron was mad he didn’t get interviewed for the job it was just time for him to go because of those 2 reasons
What got him fired in my opinion is calling a pass on a 1st and 5 getting an interception and then doing it again. You have to run the ball on the 1st and 5 whether you're good at running or not because otherwise you're just telling the other team you've given up on the run. I don't think it should have gotten him fired cuz we all make mistakes but that was a couple of pretty bad ones.
Why doesn't Shannon ever acknowledge the fact that the entire team was terrible not just Brady? This went from a super bowl contender to trash in one year not just Brady BUT THE ENTIRE team so that's Bradys fault? Shannon can say whatever he wants anyone with an ounce of common sense knows this was a coaching issue. I'm not sure it was Byron's fault but it was DEFINITELY Bowle's fault.
I think most people miss the point of what people like Shannon are pointing out. When TB wins he's God and did everything right OMG TB did it again. But when things go wrong it doesn't go that way. If you're the goat as everyone likes to say best to ever do it. You must take the blame when things go wrong. If you're a football god take responsibility for the rain and the sunshine and everyone else should do likewise.
Did you guys not mention that losing 60lbs during OTA & preseason would be a detriment. The running game was already bad and this only slowed the process. At no point did the Bucs feel like a threat outside of opening day. It’s a wasted season and the worst part is Byron gets the short straw. I hope he gets another shot for at a HC/OC job.
Ppl not understanding why he’s getting fired didn’t watch the Bucs play. You can predict what they were about to do which was screen pass non stop and if they would get one good run they would automatically do it again. Another thing on the screen passes they called for screen passes so much tom nearly got intercepted several times. Only times they pushed the ball down the field this yr was for 5yd hitch & out routes
@Dereck D, dude come on now. I'm not a fan of the bucs, but if your O-line sucks, your run game sucks, your receivers suck and your QB is playing bad, how creative can you actually be with your game plan? Isn't much you can really do to be honest. I mean you take the bottom 5 teams that had the worst offenses, is that all to blame on their OCs or did they just not have the personal. I mean look at the Spurs in the NBA. Pop is considered one of the best coaches ever but they suck this year. Why? Cause they just don't have the players that can beat other teams.
@Mark I disagree that a screen pass is the "only" choice if your offensive line is not very good. If a receiver or a back can get open to receive a pass on a screen play there are other places on the field they could get open just as easy and quick. There are teams with bad offenses that continually run quick plays across the middle behind the defense and in fact I have seen many teams do this play over and over and over again to move the ball down the field. There is going to be a problem with any play when the defense knows you are going to run it. If you are going to do that you might as well just throw the ball into the ground. However, the screenplay calls were not the only problem with Leftwich's play calling. He would call a run play for a short yardage first down attempt when the offense absolutely was not able to run a play instead of a pass play that was working better, and it failed nearly every time. It was just too many dumb mistakes he made for as long as I watched him from when Brady went there. I thought they needed to fire him last year and to get a new head coach too, but they didn't do either of those things only made it worse by splitting coaching duties and responsibilities with Bowles on the one thing they did have and that was a good defense. They made Bowles head coach and the defense and the team coaching suffered for it. What happened to mess up this year with the Bucs started last year about 2/3 of the way through the season and here we are.
He did not get fired because Tom Brady played bad. He got fired because EVERYONE played bad. Every person on the O was worst. The run calls were non existent or stale. There was no kind of innovation on the offense. And he can’t compare the Super Bowl year because yes he was the OC but Bruce arians had alot of control over the offense. The far as I’m concerned with how bad the defense regressed the D coordinator should’ve got let go as well. Every one took a step back.
Shannon contradicted himself. He said Leftwich called all the plays for all those years, then talked about how Bruce Arians changed the game plan on Saturdays. So was Leftwich calling Arians game plans??? 🤷🏿♂️
I think Arians dictates the offensive philosophy and it was Leftwich's job to figure out the how, schemes, and details. Arians then oversees, corrects, and adjusts
Byron is as good an OC as anybody in the league. He'll land on his feet. He needs to be HC at a mid-level D1 school, have success and work his way back up as an HC in a major D1 program. He's too good to flounder for long.
put tom in that raiders offense with that run game and a much better offensive line than tampa and i can assure you tom brady would look like a top 3 qb in raiders history in just one season
Byron Leftwhich was very polarizing as an OC, since he came here in 2019 he did nothing to develop Jameis, 2020 we had a top offense similar to 2019 in the points per game department with a strong running attack, 2021 the signs showed that byron got obsessive with calling power run concepts and screens, 2022 with the most talented offense we had and Tom playing fine the playcalling was horrid throughout the whole year, i would say we ran 20% screen concepts and took under 10% vertical concepts.
Antino brown was your best WR the whole 2021 season all the way into he got suspended in week 11 , ab and Tom was 7-0 together If you watch that eagles game vs buccs that tell you what Brady was missing this season
Skip Bayless is right about the Buccaneers offensive line play & the running game was horrible & no Play action to set up the passing game so the Buccs with Byron & Tom were actually overachiever's in my opinion! & Shannon Sharp called it on the fact that they were ranked like #1 & 2 in many offensive areas & this year they were like ranked #23 & 24 in many offensive areas so their offense just basically declined skillfully & their weren't many playmakers & an all passing offense just doesn't work no matter how good of wide recievers you have
@Spiritually Biased , of course not lol. I mean I'm not a bucs fan but their o-line sucked, the running game sucked, the receivers sucked and Brady was bad but hey let's blame the OC for not having a good year smh
@Simulation algorithm Hum....🤔 very interesting I didn't realize it but after you brought it out maybe perhaps Byron did have some predictability too much & it cost them more than I thought! Thanks for the honest feedback 👍
They answered there own question without knowing it bruce arians was there adding his plays in the playbook and now hes gone leftwich had the reigns and he dropped the ball because the playcalling this year was god awful it was just so simple and predictable.
@Scores Man exactly, I called 8 wins on May 3rd posted it. Had to do with Tom wanting more say so on play calling ect. Plus age is catching up to him. He should have retired after the super bowl. Now it's everyone's else fault, points are missing off the score for the wins.
@AD Leftwich was objectively and quantifiably terrible because the Buccs offense was covered perfectly by the Dallas D 60% of the plays which was the highest in wildcard week. League average is 34%.
Shannon be acting like he forget how NFL football is played. Leftwich DIDN'T call all the plays when we won the Superbowl. He was ALLOWED to call the plays Bruce okayed.... That's a huge difference.
While watching the SB you could see Brady also shouting "no" when some of the plays came in too. But agree with Skip, the other issues on this team were bad and the team suffered from them.
People forgetting Bruce was the main reason we had such a good offense when him and Byron worked well together, I personally think that Byron needs a more offensive minded head coach rather then someone conservative like Todd Bowles
Shannon doesn't get that the Buccs have never needed to have a running game that is best in the NFL but damn they need one that at least isn't dead last and setting records for lack of production. There's a reason the Buccs had to throw ball 40+ times in multiple games and it wasn't because Tom Brady was bad. It was because the run game was so ineffective they had no choice but to throw it every down.
I hate that they fired Byron Leftwich I loved him as our OC. And I appreciate what Tom Brady has done for Tampa. It’s time for us to find a QB that can move in and out the pocket and make stuff happen with their arm and feet. Let’s go for Jackson Baltimore don’t want him.
Where are u going to find a mobile qb that can read the field. There are none. The bucs need an offensive line that can hold long enough for a qb to throw.
Shannon Sharp is a GREAT dresser. And these two are a dynamic duo. I hate when they get angry with one another tho because I think that it means their friendship is on the rocks, and we all like these two being pals. I know I do.
The Bucs had one of the worst offenses in the NFL, averaging less than 20 points a game. What other choice did they have? When a lackluster season like this takes place heads are sure to roll
@Mark NE does a good to great job at it. Other coaches do a good to great job at it. But it’s been a consistent problem in TB with Arians and now Bowles as HC and the whole time Byron was OC. Like Shannon says, you more either coaching the penalty or you’re condoning it.
@Mark did you watch the games? run up the middle for -3 to +2 yards. Intermediate to deep pass. Pass to try and get first on third. Literally happened every single game and for multiple drives of said games to the same affect. Literally search Bucs run up the middle on first down and see the results.
Wow Shannon always has so many energy for Tom Brady tho lol no wonder why skip is always annoyed at him, we all know that when a team does bad the first person to go is the coach even if the quarter back plays bad
Usually starting your career as an OC with three progressively improved years, including one SB win, and one down year wouldn't get you fired. Must be something about him.🤔🙄
lmao wait till yall see the lack of creativity and predictable play calling from a byron leftwich if he went to your saints and you'll see what bucs fans have been stressed about with byron over the years
Shannon called what everybody also knew. But he he can't admit the reason Leftwich is fired is simply because leftwich is terrible. Leftwich was objectively and quantifiably terrible too because the Buccs offense was covered perfectly by the Dallas D 60% of the time which was the highest in wildcard week. League average is 34%.
First off, I have watched every bucs game this season from start to finish. The offensive play calling has been so predictable and un-creative all season long. I have also listened to most of his press conferences... He just always seems so unaware and ignorant. I think BA pulled the strings and Byron got way too much credit for the past two seasons. I think it was the right decision to let him go.
Same play calling that for 3 years was top 3 in scoring and won a SB. Suddenly now the same OC can't call plays. Really? It's Brady. It happens you can't play forever. One day you fall of a cliff. Every QB does. Brady is no different. When he can't move at all in the pocket, and you slip just a bit. It's much worse. Brady had comebacks again terrible teams. Grats. He never came back against a good one.
I mean how much more unpredictable can you be? I say the majority of plays that teams run have been ran the past 10yrs. There is only so many ways you can be creative
Didn’t like him at first, because CLEARLY he was hard headed, but you could tell when him and Brady truly met in the middle and there was no looking back after the bye week in 2020
The problem is not that they fired Byron but that they didn’t fire Todd as well. The art of successful leadership is being able to rapidly adjust to the resources you have and achieve your goals by changing the way you are executing based on the strengths you have remaining. A former SEcDEF who will remain unnamed once said that you fight with the Army you have, not the Army you wish you had. I saw no real adjustments by either Todd or Byron that played on the strengths of the men left on the field following several key injuries and retirements. Tom plays best when the offense is short and rapid-fire which keeps the chains moving and the opposing defense on the field. Byron’s play calling simply did not adjust and he was unable to change even after it was abundantly clear it was not working. Tampa needs to move on from Bowles ASAP IMHO, or better yet, offer him the Defense again where he excels.
The SecDef didn’t know what he was talking about. You troops have to be prepared, trained and capable. If you don’t have that you may win some isolated battles but you aren’t winning a war. Tampa Bay needed a better offensive line and the needed to be patient with their run game. LF7 can still run if you give him space.
S/V Nepenthe Hylas 46, You absolutely nailed it. I started saying a few weeks into the season that Todd Bowles was not head coach material when I recognized Bucs were losing to teams they shouldn't have been losing to. But I think Leftwich was less of the problem. Bowles head coached Bucs just like he head coached the Jets.
@JStone Y'all are racist because 1yr doesn't account for a true record. They made it to the playoffs. So that was good enough when obviously, Brady had issues during the off season with his marriage.. none of those other players you stated even showed up on the field.. even though they been there. BA retired and got a nice little seat in the building, however, you dumped a struggling team on a black man because you knew you was going to fired him in the beginning of the season. If none of that BF issues and lawsuit came about Byron wasn't their original choice anyway. Most of these black coaches this season was used. Buccs ain't done firing people.. his is coming to..
@Cashae Taylor when your offense has Tom Brady, mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Julio Jones, Leonard fournette and more yet you run one of the worst offenses in the league and the worst rushing offense ALL TIME and can’t make any adjustments in your play calling all year you think he deserves a job? It’s obviously not all his fault he’s not on the field playing but besides Brady and Julio most of those pieces are there next year so you’d just expect them to run it back with the same scheme. BA is the only reason Byron had a job
@Cashae Taylor so you’re racist. The fact that he’s black has nothing do with it. Has the black head coach been fired yet? Go watch Bowles going off on Jenna laine pointing out that he’s black. People need to stop pointing out color smfh
@JStone Like I said, the black coach is the only one that's lacking 🤣 ok I got you. Those same plays got a better record than the Broncos got right now. 🤷🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤣
It's hard to ignore that the bucs only looked good while Brady was running the 2-minute offense. Leftwich just may have needed Bruce more than we know.
@Connor Barringer I've never understood why racists watch football, a sport totally dominated by black men. Maybe stick to the sport with guys on skates?
Most teams look better in the 2-minute because it inherently causes an added disadvantage for the defense. That’s not the barometer I would use, but I see your point.
1:07 The irony of Shannon saying this about Brady when Lakers collapsed last year when LeBron got Westbrick to come to the Lakers who got fired? Frank Vogel
This was all Todd Bowles. Byron wanted to be the HC and thought he was passed over for a failed one time coach of the NY Jets. I think Byron tried to call BS plays to get Todd fired in hopes of a job promotion but it backfired on him. The same thing happened in Dallas when Wade Phillips was the HC and Jason Garrett was the OC…..Garrett sabotaged the game-plan in order to get the HC job. When Garrett was the OC they were very pass happy when everybody was calling for them to be more balanced and run oriented. Once he became HC DeMarco Murray almost broke Eric Dickerson single season rushing record. Byron was trying to use that same blueprint and it backfired on him and Todd Bowles got rid of him.
@Al Cianfrani, they had to keep throwing because they were behind 28-0 at one point I think. You can't keep running the ball if you're behind that much. Plus Dallas was stopping the run for once
I mean wth did you think was gonna happen we can't have a 46 year old QB throwing 60+ balls a game and running the ball 2 maybe 3 times and our WR's we're on vacation all year and the defense played well when they felt like it the whole season was a disaster not just Tom Brady I feel like he was the only one trying on the team
Tom Brady was the best player on the Buccaneers so there's a lot of other ppI can think of on the team to get ride of at least it looked like Brady was trying can't say that for any of the other starters
This is expected. There is always a scapegoat. TB was off that entire playoff game. He was throwing balls in the dirt. The first 5 games TB was off but they blame Everyone but Tom.
If you want it, you're going to have to go all out to have it. It's not going to be easy. If it were easy, everbody would do it. But if you're serious about it, you'll stop at nothing to achieve it.
As a Bucs fan I wasn't the biggest fan of Leftwich but the offense was top 5 every year he was here except this year. His first year in Tampa in 2019 he had a bad offensive line, no running game and a quarterback who threw 30 interceptions and the offense was 3rd overall. It's clear that Brady's poor play got Leftwich fired.
He can easily get a college job build it up and get a head coaching job … but yeah this year ruined his chances of being a head coach Atleast for the next 3 years
Listen to The Skip Bayless Show podcast: sprtspod.fox/SkipBaylessShowPodcast
You know..... it's possible Tampa wanted to fire Byron last season but Brady fought to keep him b/c he liked him and now that Brady is leaving they wanted to cut ties now in order to find the future guy before other teams got into the mix.
@Warren Kemmer dude they thru me in solitary fight win 30 seconds 4 days in a row finally I said look man ill give you a candy bar when we get out to stop...unbelievable...he couldn't Take a white person getting the best of em...I've got 20 examples
@Steve yup definitely can't take that head up beat down like a man. always attack in packs but I blame others for not sticking together like they should and dish it back out
@Keyshaun Service can't rest on you're laurels... new plays...sinking or swimming
How did Skip not die from laughter when Shannon said “Yeah now he Layoff Lenny” 🤣
🤣🤣😂😂
I still think Fournette is a stud. The whole team sucked all year. It happens. Playing the way they did, they absolutely went as far as they could.
@Jamin Hodges Brady did have like a 105 passer rating vs. pressure. So I'd ask, "Did you see all the times where he beat the defense while under pressure?"
😂😂😂
@Robert baker Brady played bad this season. Deal with it.
Kind of like high level sales, you don’t produce get canned
@Volourn it's feed to them by the MSM sports talking heads like skip cowherd Simms etc
Mia been going through this same path for past 20+ years now.....
Yeah it’s disgusting. They’ll fire a coach who made the playoffs 2 times in a row
It's been clear BA had a huge role in the offense
BA will come back, Tom is gone, they should kept Byron Leftwich
Skip: I don't blame the offensive coordinator.
Skip 10 seconds later: Goes on to list how horrible the offense was this year.
LOL LOL
B.Leftwich = J.McDaniels. Their head coaches made them better than they actually are.
“His chances of being a head coach is slim to none and slim ain’t on a diet he’s getting heavier” Shannon with the bars
The offensive line affects the play action pass and run game a lot because if you can't stop defensive ends from getting to Brady how would a play action pass or run game work at all
And their LT cost them 4 tds bc of holding calls.
@Reclaimer77 you obvsly didnt watch any games
Beady was the best thrower on play action this season but the bucs oline was garbage
Tampa Bay Buccaneers offense was ranked 21st throughout the season hmm why is that
Brady looked lost and tired most of the 2022 season ( including that wild card game ). There were ( obviously ) huge coaching problems in Tampa. So when a disaster happens, more often than not, it occurs for many reasons. Especially in a team sport like football.
“Remember playoff Lenny?”
“Yeah… now he LAYOFF Lenny” 😂
😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
bruh!!n that is hilarious ✌🏾
Or Way-off Lenny :)
Said nah Lenny you ain’t 🅿️ nomo
Bowles seemed to be a bigger reason for the bad season.
😂
My belief is Todd is to blame for Byron getting fired. He saw 2 good years with Tom under BA and a bad year under him... he knew heads would roll and this already being his second chance he wasn't going to let it be his...
@Dev Carter True, great DC, terrible HC
Todd Bowles is not head coach material. He was not even head coach material with the Jets.
As a Buccaneers fan this saddens me. I understand why they did it, the offense was not good even though the offensive line was injured all season. I just liked the guy.
@danii yeah bro, I know..I held on to the hope of them turning it around all the way to the end...
@Lenon Cho leftwich made rbs run down middle endlessly , we were losing games that way. I also suspect his routes calling was sub par but i tuned out midway through the season.
Brady done that’s the problem
Tom gets a full pass once again.... But blame somebody Does play calling cause you to miss open WRs
@Diccey Key i dont think it's a wrap for him ' they just had a bad season - it happen's to the best sometimes.
Byron Leftwich saved this offense from looking even worse than it did. It's not a big loss for him. He'll have his pick of teams that want him in the near future.
Its three weeks and hes still available. I like him in az with bienieme as the oc.
Firing Byron won’t mean a thing if they don’t improve the offensive Line & other players don’t get healthy, really nobody is to blame, this team just couldn’t overcome injuries
Isnt his fault his players cant win games
@joshshoe awful by his standards, but only so much 1 man can do to make up for the 2022 bucs.
@c2itccase9 he still had like a top 10 season with all the mess that happened in 2022 and he litterally can make every throw and he is going to cost less than his level of play should command cause he wants to win?
Just a few reasons off the top of my head.
Having a career losing head coach is a big part of it
No excuse
Obviously Arians knew what he was doing by stepping in
@Ben Stallonewow good debate using facts and not getting emotional. Win for you Mr. Stallone.
@Sonya Bolden I particular yes. Color is would be a word indicating there is some tint to the skin.
Leftwich is being used as an escape goat for the Bucs just like Vogel was the escape goat for the Lakers. Great show gentlemen!
Lol just like that one tvshow/movie
I think you mean a scapegoat lol
This season was absolutely a coaching problem. Guys just didn't come prepared. I could just tell practices were too lax under Bowles. BA used to have the guys dress up in pads far more often, and even if the guys hated it, they came ready to play on Sunday. I saw way too many videos this year with Bowles finishing his post-game speeches with "See yall on Wednesday...."
@Spiritually Biased I mean he was the quarterback of those 7 Superbowls. So he had a little bit to do with it
@Logan Comstock And all of those superbowls was all because of Tom and nobody else? If people are over blaming coaches, offensive line, receivers for losing, then they have to have some kind of accountability as to how tom got those 7 superbowls.
@daniel walker Right. It's clear as day that Brady didn't play that well this year but they have to look for the token sacrificial lamb for Tom. It is so annoying.
@Fabricio Braga 7 Superbowls bro, 7
Todd Bowles is not head coach material.
It was my first year betting against TB12 in the playoffs and feeling confident of win.
Felt great for once!
Nobody knows you exist but that’s good for yourself
I just KNEW Uncle Shay was gonna snap! 😂 😂 😂
@Goodnight Munchie African American lingo. 🤣🤣
@Goodnight Munchie the numbers are extremely skewed though. U don’t have to be a rocket scientist to gather that much.
Facts skip nick name should be skip Brady 🤣 straight groupie I think Tom Brady should file a restraining order 😂
@Henry Smith what you mean excuses, they were 8-9 and Tom played bad!!😂🤔😂 That’s evidence and facts
Some people just don't know when to retire
"Layoff Lenny" 😂 😂 😂 Shannon is gold 🪙
😄😄unc foolish
@Robert Dye I think it's 🚬🙂
@Goodnight Munchie we would if what you said was actually funny just saying
@TD Schoolfield nobody has a sense of humor anymore 🚬🤨
Why doesn't Shannon ever acknowledge the fact that the entire team was terrible not just Brady? This went from a super bowl contender to trash in one year not just Brady BUT THE ENTIRE team so that's Bradys fault? Shannon can say whatever he wants anyone with an ounce of common sense knows this was a coaching issue. I'm not sure it was Byron's fault but it was DEFINITELY Bowle's fault.
@The Babbler 🤣🤣🤣 you really typed that… oh lord.
@R T Brady never was good. He's just on good teams. There is a difference.
@James Allen …. You mean like he does? Shannon is just a Brady hater
@R T Brady is WASHED LMAO he can't elevate anyone
Did you guys not mention that losing 60lbs during OTA & preseason would be a detriment. The running game was already bad and this only slowed the process. At no point did the Bucs feel like a threat outside of opening day. It’s a wasted season and the worst part is Byron gets the short straw. I hope he gets another shot for at a HC/OC job.
Offensive Coordinator Suppose to correct the problems. It’s Not the QB to fix problems
First time I saw Byron, he was playing with a broken leg.... that's the kind off tough you can't teach... he'll be OK
@Henry Gigante that superbowl ring says different
@Daniel Kay or hear me out you can still have bad playcalling and still throughout the season make mistakes as a player. No one is perfect 👍🏼
Predictable plays did not cause incomplete passes or an interception in the end zone. That was a burned out GOAT
Same play calling every game. Every first play of drive was a run play.
Not a Bucs fan but when your o- line sucks and your receivers suck, what more can you do?
Shannon contradicted himself. He said Leftwich called all the plays for all those years, then talked about how Bruce Arians changed the game plan on Saturdays. So was Leftwich calling Arians game plans??? 🤷🏿♂️
@William Canizales Very good description.
I think Arians dictates the offensive philosophy and it was Leftwich's job to figure out the how, schemes, and details. Arians then oversees, corrects, and adjusts
Both narratives never change… seasons over and Shannon still hating on Brady. Byron has had horrible play calling
Byron is as good an OC as anybody in the league. He'll land on his feet. He needs to be HC at a mid-level D1 school, have success and work his way back up as an HC in a major D1 program. He's too good to flounder for long.
Toms bad season is most QB best season lol. I wish Carr had the bad season Tom just had
put tom in that raiders offense with that run game and a much better offensive line than tampa and i can assure you tom brady would look like a top 3 qb in raiders history in just one season
@Spartacus Ascent, that's not always on the QB. The defense has a lot to do with wins and losses
Fact, Justin Fields for the bears has 6 wins and 21 losses as a Bear over 2 seasons. Shannon making Tom out to be the worst QB in the entire game.
@Nunya Business , thank you. People act like there are 100s of plays you can call when there is only a certain amount you can really run.
@Mark Bingo, But you know, it's Brady. He can do no wrong.
@Simulation algorithm Hum....🤔 very interesting I didn't realize it but after you brought it out maybe perhaps Byron did have some predictability too much & it cost them more than I thought! Thanks for the honest feedback 👍
Totally agree. This whole season was a nightmare. Back door slide into a NFC South title but man it was up and down all year.
The ravens will be happy interviewing him for our OC position 🫶 thanks Tom 👍🏽
We all know that in the NFL if you don't change from quarter to quarter, from game to game - defenses will figure the offense out.
Shannon got a metaphor for everything
Im deeply concerned for Buccaneers fans. Y'all had that sweet sweet moment though.
They answered there own question without knowing it bruce arians was there adding his plays in the playbook and now hes gone leftwich had the reigns and he dropped the ball because the playcalling this year was god awful it was just so simple and predictable.
Tampa’s offensive stats have went down across the board since BA left. Byron had to go
@pol pol , exactly
Brady was the part of the problem too
@Scores Man exactly, I called 8 wins on May 3rd posted it.
Had to do with Tom wanting more say so on play calling ect.
Plus age is catching up to him. He should have retired after the super bowl.
Now it's everyone's else fault, points are missing off the score for the wins.
@Ben Stallone , doesn't that mean that Dallas just had a good defensive plan? You do know guys on the other team get paid as well right?
@AD
Leftwich was objectively and quantifiably terrible because the Buccs offense was covered perfectly by the Dallas D 60% of the plays which was the highest in wildcard week. League average is 34%.
Sharp "It's slim to none and Slim ain't on no diet!"
Shannon be acting like he forget how NFL football is played. Leftwich DIDN'T call all the plays when we won the Superbowl. He was ALLOWED to call the plays Bruce okayed.... That's a huge difference.
I like how FANS know more than a Hall of Fame guy
While watching the SB you could see Brady also shouting "no" when some of the plays came in too. But agree with Skip, the other issues on this team were bad and the team suffered from them.
People forgetting Bruce was the main reason we had such a good offense when him and Byron worked well together, I personally think that Byron needs a more offensive minded head coach rather then someone conservative like Todd Bowles
And Bruce was definitely involved in game planning
Shannon doesn't get that the Buccs have never needed to have a running game that is best in the NFL but damn they need one that at least isn't dead last and setting records for lack of production. There's a reason the Buccs had to throw ball 40+ times in multiple games and it wasn't because Tom Brady was bad. It was because the run game was so ineffective they had no choice but to throw it every down.
Thats literally what he said though😅
Shannon is a rabid Brady hater. Usually the haters are more extreme in their bias than the stans
“Now he layoff Lenny” lmao 😂
"And Slim ain't on no diet he gaining weight, so it ain't gon happen"🤣🤣🤣
Shannon Sharp is a GREAT dresser. And these two are a dynamic duo. I hate when they get angry with one another tho because I think that it means their friendship is on the rocks, and we all like these two being pals. I know I do.
I would love to see Brian Leftwich go to the Chargers! Preferably as head coach, but at least offensive coordinator!
I’d love to see it. I’d love to see the chargers be a bottom feeder with this joke of a qb that was even worse as an OC. Reap what you sew.
PLEASE TAKE HIM
@Al Cianfrani, who really runs the ball anymore
wouldn’t the solve the problem of inconsistent defense and no run game
LOL, Chargers will go 3-14
Unc said Jameis had “ 5,000 turnovers also, that’s why he is where he is”😂😂😂😂😂😂
Byron played it safe this year his play calling was way different
The offense line failed lol 😆 😂 🤣 🤦 😅 🙃 😆 😂 🤣 Shannon having a breakdown 🤣 😂 😅 😆 😄 😀 🤣
@TheSHAD0W93, you can't coach players not to make penalties though
@TheSHAD0W93, what made it predictable
Must be something about him.🤔🙄
Heard it from me first when you are a competitive you can't go out like that 💯
SB Champs to a losing season. You can't say mistakes weren't made. This was beyond just having an off year.
Would love Byron Leftwich in DC as our OC
Well, Shannon called it. Saints could use a new OC, though.
lmao wait till yall see the lack of creativity and predictable play calling from a byron leftwich if he went to your saints and you'll see what bucs fans have been stressed about with byron over the years
And cults cardinals broncos
Lol ok… fail that bad with Brady… I mean…
yea dey jus tryna put the black mane down cuh, UNC was right!
I’m so old, I remember Byron on True Life on MTV…they followed him around after he broke his ankle
I think people arent admitting what's obviously right in front of you.....Bruce was a terrific coach and they really missed him.
@Mr. Popo , it was rigged that year
Didn’t like him at first, because CLEARLY he was hard headed, but you could tell when him and Brady truly met in the middle and there was no looking back after the bye week in 2020
The problem is not that they fired Byron but that they didn’t fire Todd as well.
The politics of this nation wouldn't allow them to fire both mate.
They won't fire Todd because he is black. Unfortunately, It would be the right move but also a PR nightmare.
there is no way that a team, with the Rooney rule in the NFL, would fire 2 black coaches at the same time especially the top 2.
S/V Nepenthe Hylas 46,
You absolutely nailed it. I started saying a few weeks into the season that Todd Bowles was not head coach material when I recognized Bucs were losing to teams they shouldn't have been losing to. But I think Leftwich was less of the problem. Bowles head coached Bucs just like he head coached the Jets.
I want him in Pittsburgh as the OC
The report I read is that the BUCS were ready to release Byron in wk 11
@Cashae Taylor 😄
@JStone
Y'all are racist because 1yr doesn't account for a true record.
@JStone
Like I said, the black coach is the only one that's lacking 🤣 ok I got you. Those same plays got a better record than the Broncos got right now. 🤷🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤣
If Brady isn’t playing well this season why are we having him throw it 50 times a game? That’s on the OC to get the run game going
excuses
It's hard to ignore that the bucs only looked good while Brady was running the 2-minute offense. Leftwich just may have needed Bruce more than we know.
@Connor Barringer I've never understood why racists watch football, a sport totally dominated by black men. Maybe stick to the sport with guys on skates?
Shannon: Byron didn't even get an interview for the head coaching job.
I'm surprised Shannon didn't start shouting racism
Most teams look better in the 2-minute because it inherently causes an added disadvantage for the defense. That’s not the barometer I would use, but I see your point.
Thank you
PEOPLE TOM BRADY IS GOING TO THE MIAMI DOLPHINS LIKE HE PLANNED
1:07 The irony of Shannon saying this about Brady when Lakers collapsed last year when LeBron got Westbrick to come to the Lakers who got fired? Frank Vogel
Comparing the way Basketball works to the way Football works is hilarious.
Damn I remember dude was playing in the league…time flies
They didn’t have an offensive line.
How you know. Tom Brady played n change 80% of the play calling...
If you’re O-line is injured to the point the team can’t run the ball or protect the QB every team is going to have a bad season period.
Check out the LA Rams no line no time results Stafford gets crushed Brady smart enough to throw the ball away
It is so clear to me that these guys didn't watch any Bucs football. Seriously. It was plain as day that playcalling was a major issue on offense.
It's crazy they're firing him and Brady is heavily rumored to be leaving anyway
The offense just wasn’t good enough this year. The scheme is outdated it happens lol it’s not a big deal the offense needs change
Bring him to Chicago JF1 gon turn tf up 🔥🔥🙌🏾
I mean wth did you think was gonna happen we can't have a 46 year old QB throwing 60+ balls a game and running the ball 2 maybe 3 times and our WR's we're on vacation all year and the defense played well when they felt like it the whole season was a disaster not just Tom Brady I feel like he was the only one trying on the team
I couldn't have said it better!!!!
Skip: remember Lenny
Shannon: now he’s layoff Lenny. I love Shannon.
Thanks Shannon. I needed this laugh. 😢
Nice job in this clip. Very well done on both your parts.
I think the management may be thinking Arians was more of the secret sauce to the offense than Byron. We shall see if this ends up being true.
Tom Brady was the best player on the Buccaneers so there's a lot of other ppI can think of on the team to get ride of at least it looked like Brady was trying can't say that for any of the other starters
Exactly..bro had no help
@Mark the Bucs were last in rushing attempts stop saying we ran the ball too much that isn't true. We threw more than every team in the league
@Gary Martin Jameis didn't have a running game and they were still 3rd in points running these same plays
@Mark poor little mark. The tall, slow goat has broken your little football heart. 😢
@Joeybago12, 🤡
@Mark ok duuuudeee. 🤡
Best of luck to Byron, some team will pick him up as a OC. I don’t think coach after this season as the league is a short memory league
"Slim ain't on no diet so he gaining weight."😂😂😂😂
Skip: “playoff Lenny”
Shannon: “uh…he layoff Lenny now” 😂😂😂
Shannon hates Tom brandy the the way skip hates lebron and it’s hilarious.
I think he just gives the same energy skip gives Lebron when he plays bad. Skip just can’t take it
After SB LI. Brady OT win over Falcons. Shannon Sharpe: "Tom is the greatest Football player of all time" My goodness Mr. Sharpe 🤣😂
Shannon "hates" Tom Brady by telling the truth and Skip hates LeBron by downplaying his accomplishments and underrating his value: Big difference.
Last year when B.A. would come in and change all Brady and Leftwich plans. It looks like he knew something they didn't
I just don't understand how Todd Bowles gets a pass for everything
Skip was surprisingly levelheaded on this subject
“Now he layoff Lenny” 😂😂
Unk was poddin' in this segment. 🔥🔥🔥
He can easily get a college job build it up and get a head coaching job … but yeah this year ruined his chances of being a head coach Atleast for the next 3 years
"This is some bulljive!" Lol
it's actually surprising the Bowles is keeping his job
Suddenly Byron Leftwich has become the goat!
