I’m so glad Matthew Lillard played Stu in Scream. I’m glad he got to tap into his horror side apart from his comedy and family friendly side such as Scooby Doo. It’s great to see diversity from him and he did so good! Will always love scream!❤️❤️❤️

27:45 reminded me of an interview i saw with one of the actors (can't remember if it was Skeet Ulrich or Matthew Lillard) where he said he believes Stu and Billy were in love, and if they'd survived, they would have moved to another country to start a farm together and kill people on the weekends.

The fact that the actors didn't get to meet voice actor of Ghostface is incredible. It makes everything so much more authentic. They legitimately didn't know who they were talking to.
I used Scream as a reference for a horror gender studies project I did. I used it as the first horror movie with a final girl and a final woman. Both Gale and Sidney process the Ghostface killings very differently from one another which is why their relationship throughout the franchise is so interesting
Fun fact Rose McGowan (tatum) dressed herself in the movie for all her outfits, she did that because she didn't like the outfits they wanted her to wear (they wanted her to wear overalls and platform shoes and she didn't like it). Rose McGowan is not talked about enough honestly her performance in scream is so amazing and she's so charismatic.

In 1996 I walked into theater opening night barely knowing what it was gonna be, we all did, only thing we knew was it was gonna be horror and drew barrymore was gonna be the star, so seeing her brutally killed in the opening really set the tone, nobody knew which direction it was gonna, whether the killer was a supernatural killer like jason, freddy etc or a crazed human serial killer, going in we all knew only one thing and that was it gonna be something unique. Nobody knew anything while watching the movie first time viewing. And i really miss those days. Nowdays the trailers give out everything, or people spoil shit, heck even ppl that give theories and dont spoil but just pick apart rumors and trailers can even ruin the movie. I miss the days nobody could analyze shit and theres no leaks or spoilers, you just go into a movie with barely any info but know your gonna get hooked right in.

@Ryan agreed. She deserves no praise, she's playing the same character that's been kept alive because of writing catering to the audiences need for familiarity. The only character that should live minimum 3 flicks in a slasher franchise is the slasher. It becomes predictable. I love the movies but I'm bored with the original characters, let's move on to a new characters
I honestly think one of my favorite parts of this movie, at least in terms of the greatness of simple face acting, is when Gale's re-gale-ing Kenny with the idea of Cotton being innocent, and Kenny has that little smile of "Oh, hey, maybe she's not so bad!" And then the whole, "Do you KNOW what that could do for my book sales?!" followed by Kenny's poor little 😟 face.
I actually really like these Recounts because they give so much more than just the kills and I cannot wait to see the Recounts for the rest of the Scream series!!!
I love Scream mainly because it's a fun mix of comedy and horror, it's one thing to have a good laugh every now and then but quickly and suddenly it reminds you that Scream is in fact a horror film
Seeing your love for this franchise is so great and really makes me feel warm and fuzzy during this time of seasonal depression ❤ I love this franchise so much!
Few more things to note that deserves recognition is the soundtrack in the credits literally y'all have to just listen through the credits till the very end these songs are something else, they literally breathe life into this movie truly just as much as James breathes life into these kill counts
This movie came out my first year of high school and it's so amazing to me how 23 years after graduating, the Scream franchise is such a big part of so many of my high school year memories!

I love Matthew Lillard in this movie. I recall watching the movie once with the commentary playing and there was a moment where Kevin Williamson mentioned how his performance actually added a lot to Stu's character because there wasn't really all that much to him in the original script.
I watched the Scream movies for the first time literally last week and came to watch the Kill counts after. I was disappointed as they were old videos from before James provided behind the scenes information. I knew they’d be recounted at some point but didn’t expect it this soon! Love it when little things like that happen in life.

My local nostalgia cinema played this with Scream 5 last month and not only was it an interesting pairing, but seeing the original on a large screen made it that much more effective. Helps that it holds up well despite being firmly in the 90s. And I'll never stop gushing over the fact that a lot of it was shot where I grew up.
I was just a wee lad snuck in to see this on winter break with a group of High School seniors. It, no exaggeration, changed my life. Fell in love with horror and started spending all my free time at video stores. Thanks for the ReKill Count!

Also, I don’t think the girls bathroom was Stu or Billy. Seems like they had an elaborate plan to kill Sidney at the party. Why risk it? Then again we shouldn’t pull that string too hard….
The entire ending of the film from the "killer(s) revealed" scene through the death of Stu and Billy is one of the best endings of any movie ever. Stu and Billy's acting are truly bone chilling and it was a tortuous few minutes to live through in the best way possible

I love the way they turn the tables in the ending scene! In Slashers, the killer has all the power, all the speed, all the smarts, and all the luck. Once Billy & Stu took off the masks, they lost that power. When Sid found the costume, she gained all that power. Slashers become the Slashees!
I still go back to watch that scene. The first film is good overall but that final act is MINDBLOWING. Everything from 'we all go a little mad sometimes' is PEAK cinema.
The final act is the best part of the movie besides the opening, while Stu is still having a hell of time enjoying the scene, Billy is far more chilling and sociopathic so in point he didn't mind stabbing his partner deeply to frame him along with Sidney's father as the killer. A acting
Scream was like the Smells Like Teen Spirit of the 90’s. They both ushered in a new era of horror movies and rock music, respectively. And influenced an entire generation.
The other day, I had to explain to someone (a fellow grownup, even!) that Teen Spirit was a brand of deodorant marketed at teens, and that the song was named after it, not vice versa. And then I felt very, very old.
Fun fact: Neve Campbell and Skeet Ulrich were both in the comeing of age horror film "The Craft" in the same year as Scream. With Skeet also play a not nice boyfriend type. Neve was originally going to say no to playing Sydney, until she found out that Skeet was going to be in the film
This movie came out the year I was born and while it wasn’t the first scary movie I saw (Jaws when I was 3 years old), it was the movie that spurred my love of the genre.
Man I love Scream and Childs play and it’s nice that they both have only one storyline “cough cough Halloween, Friday 13th, and Nightmare on Elm cough” I still love the other ones tho 👌🏻

showed my buddy scream for his first time recently and even almost 30 years later it still holds up well, it kept him intrigued all the way through even for someone who normally doesn't watch scary movies
Scream is a classic. I remember when it came out and me and my friends who were all in highschool went to see it. We never expected the opening kill and the reveal of the killers were a surprise. Great movie

I love Scream mainly because it's a fun mix of comedy and horror, it's one thing to have a good laugh every now and then but quickly and suddenly it reminds you that Scream is in fact a horror film

I love Matthew Lillard in this movie. I recall watching the movie once with the commentary playing and there was a moment where Kevin Williamson mentioned how his performance actually added a lot to Stu's character because there wasn't really all that much to him in the original script.

I watched the Scream movies for the first time literally last week and came to watch the Kill counts after. I was disappointed as they were old videos from before James provided behind the scenes information. I knew they’d be recounted at some point but didn’t expect it this soon! My local nostalgia cinema played this with Scream 5 last month and not only was it an interesting pairing, but seeing the original on a large screen made it that much more effective. Helps that it holds up well despite being firmly in the 90s. And I'll never stop gushing over the fact that a lot of it was shot where I grew up.

Also, I don’t think the girls bathroom was Stu or Billy. Seems like they had an elaborate plan to kill Sidney at the party. Why risk it? Then again we shouldn’t pull that string too hard….
The entire ending of the film from the "killer(s) revealed" scene through the death of Stu and Billy is one of the best endings of any movie ever. Stu and Billy's acting are truly bone chilling and it was a tortuous few minutes to live through in the best way possible

The twist of who the killers made the killers themselves scarier
I love the way they turn the tables in the ending scene! In Slashers, the killer has all the power, all the speed, all the smarts, and all the luck.
Once Billy & Stu took off the masks, they lost that power. When Sid found the costume, she gained all that power. Slashers become the Slashees!
I still go back to watch that scene. The first film is good overall but that final act is MINDBLOWING. Everything from 'we all go a little mad sometimes' is PEAK cinema.
The final act is the best part of the movie besides the opening, while Stu is still having a hell of time enjoying the scene, Billy is far more chilling and sociopathic so in point he didn't mind stabbing his partner deeply to frame him along with Sidney's father as the killer. A acting

This movie came out the year I was born and while it wasn’t the first scary movie I saw (Jaws when I was 3 years old), it was the movie that spurred my love of the genre.

Scream is a classic. I remember when it came out and me and my friends who were all in highschool went to see it. We never expected the opening kill and the reveal of the killers were a surprise. Great movie
