To be fair, most people would be sh!t at running anything let alone a country no matter how good of people they are
That’s a thing that takes lots of skill, and a huge heap of knowledge
I didn’t know Nicholas personally, so idk if he was a good person or not 💀

Unbeknownst to many, little Jimmy is the reason why the channel exists. Thanks to his space-time travel abilities Jimmy, aka Oversimplified, can see directly through the unfolding of world events that shaped humanity. Thus the storytelling of the channel is to be taken as gospel and preached to all.
    Thank you little Jimmy

Wait a minute. Not only jimmy. The bucket and spaghetti jeff keeps time together. They fix all the mistakes of the past like back then like in the Prohibition video. Before al capone killed the kids when he was Santa but then the bucket stopped it with the soothing mop aroma. Spaghetti jeff stopped napoleon from going back to France and doing a surprise attack on the UK and destroying everything and I mean everything in his way.then he created the napoleon empire which is this big thing in a different history but basically he started slavery again but Spaghetti jeff gave them free Spaghetti and motivational speeches. Some people tried to fix time in their own way but the bucket and spaghetti jeff stopped them in their own way.

Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross. Colossians 2:14 ✝🌅
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. Romans 3:23-24 ✝🌅
My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. Proverbs 4:20-22 ✝🌅

@Bigman I'd say the situation was marginally better. As bad as stalin was, the tzar was worse. Russia had basically missed out on the industrial revolution and had to play catch up, as bad as it was at least progress was made under stalinist rule.
that's not to say either was good, but I'd rather starve with modern tech than starve with outdated tech.

The way I learned it, Nicholas wasn’t necessarily a big fan of Rasputin, but he loved his wife very much as was easily influenced by her opinions. Rasputin, however, had a lot of influence over Alexandra. There were rumors that the two of them were having an affair. So if Rasputin thought a certain policy should be enacted, or a certain minister should he fired, he told Alexandra who would suggest it to Nicholas.

The only thing that matters in this life is whether or not you know the Lord Jesus Christ who is the love of your life, and you His.
All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. Isaiah 53:6 ✝🌅
Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the Lord of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return? Malachi 3:7 ✝🌅
“Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord. Acts 3:19 ✝🌅

There lived a certain man in Russia long ago
He was big and strong, in his eyes a flaming glow
Most people looked at him with terror and with fear
But to Moscow chicks he was such a lovely dear
He could preach the Bible like a preacher
    Full of ecstasy and fire
But he also was the kind of teacher
    Women would desire
    Ra ra Rasputin
    Lover of the Russian queen
There was a cat that really was gone
    Ra ra Rasputin
    Russia's greatest love machine
It was a shame how he carried on
He ruled the Russian land and never mind the Czar
But the kazachok he danced really wunderbar
In all affairs of state he was the man to please
But he was real great when he had a girl to squeeze
For the queen he was no wheeler dealer
Though she'd heard the things he'd done
She believed he was a holy healer
    Who would heal her son
    Ra ra Rasputin
    Lover of the Russian queen
There was a cat that really was gone
    Ra ra Rasputin
    Russia's greatest love machine
It was a shame how he carried on
But when his drinking and lusting
    And his hunger for power
Became known to more and more people
    The demands to do something
    About this outrageous man
    Became louder and louder
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
"This man's just got to go", declared his enemies
But the ladies begged, "Don't you try to do it, please"
No doubt this Rasputin had lots of hidden charms
Though he was a brute, they just fell into his arms
Then one night some men of higher standing
Set a trap, they're not to blame
"Come to visit us", they kept demanding
    And he really came
    Ra ra Rasputin
    Lover of the Russian queen
They put some poison into his wine
    Ra ra Rasputin
    Russia's greatest love machine
He drank it all and said, "I feel fine"
    Ra ra Rasputin
    Lover of the Russian queen
They didn't quit, they wanted his head
    Ra ra Rasputin
    Russia's greatest love machine
And so they shot him 'til he was dead

i do wanna point out that even tho Witte's policies made the tsar kinda unpopular, most russians did still support the tsar because they blamed Witte for their issues regarding hid policies more than they actually blamed the tsar. Boody Sunday is mainly the event in which people really begin to directly hate the tsar himself and not just his advisers like Pobodonostev, Witte and Stolypin

When I watches these for the first time, it really got me into the spirit of the era. All the old films and parodies and whatever just didn't have that much direct, solid and clear anything. Just thinking about the grandiose society and the spirits of the period. It was just what I needed in that moment. I also got some messed up ideas from memories of this later on so everything was great

Yeah, I'm 42, and at some point I noticed that the fall of communism had become history, straight-up. It was in my high school history textbooks and so on, but almost as an epilogue followed by "to be continued ..."
The way I look at it is in terms of half-lives, like: 20yr, 10yr, 5yr vs. 30yr, 15yr, 7.5yr vs. 40yr, 20yr, 10yr. When the second number is 18yr--that is right at the threshold of "old". When the third one is 18+, you're really old.

@Teth The level of starvation and it’s cause was very questionable during the Russian Empire, much less so than the Soviet Union. As much as there wasn’t any political opposition permitted within pretty much either state, the Soviets were certainly more effective in economic method. Sure, every country and state has committed all those things. The question is what it was caused by and whether it could’ve been avoided, really.

If anyone wants to read about the myth of Anastasia escaping Ekaterinburg and the Pretender eventually known by the name Anna Anderson, I highly recommend “Resurrection of the Romanovs”. A woman who was fished from the river after a suicide attempt in Berlin a few years after the Imperial family was assassinated, and who would eventually come to be known as Anna Anderson, would capture the world’s imagination and even divide the surviving relatives of the Romanovs over whether she was truly Anastasia or not.
But she definitely wasn’t, and the Berlin police knew who she really was within days of her attempt! She was a Polish peasant named Franziska Schanzkowska, who had the extraordinary luck to feature similar enough corresponding identifying marks and physical conditions as Anastasia. Her true family even came to visit her. She still managed to take advantage of people’s desire for a miracle and thoroughly shed her true identity enough to fool people who knew the real Anastasia. She was good at remembering details then producing these “things only the real Anastasia could know” tidbits. She conveniently “refused” to speak Russian. She was also good at spending other people’s money, mainly former Russian nobles seeking favor just in case, and great at burning bridges as she went from benefactor to benefactor.
She died after a long and fascinating life lived as a mysterious enigmatic claimant to be the last survivor of the Tsar’s line and legacy. Not bad for a Polish farm worker. She deserves a high quality prestigious big budget film.

I think things can get better over time in that, once people experience certain freedoms, they don't want to give them up. There are exceptions, but it seems to generally go that way. So the more countries experience them, the less they'll revert. Hopefully.

@Kaiodenic Things don't get better over time they just get faster and more efficient and that's true of good things and bad things alike.
Faster communication and travel methods, immense production of energy = very good
Faster death machines and mega-energetic-output doomsday weapons = really fucking bad
Progress is neutral, we do the same shit we used to in 500 BC, just faster and with less effort
