@The Zelmo Channel I guess somebody would say that Hamas refused to ratify the Accords and they are rulers of Gaza so it is now meaningless. Okay. Provinces under the Ramallah government is not ruled by Hamas but Israeli settlers come constantly, what is the reason?

@The Zelmo Channel Hold on. The Palestinians do have a seat on the table. It is a UN member state recognized by more than hundred nations. This is due to the Oslo Accords which the PLO agreed to solve the conflict via the two-state solution, the solution that every Israeli government refuses to follow correctly. So again the blame must be on the Israeli delegates.

Electrical: The way that I expect the Stock Market to go this year it won't be long before I will be asking you for a loan since my bank sure as hell would never give me one. While I have you and on a word about the China issue! What do you think of this: (1) China is looking for an excuse to invade Taiwan. (2)It is deliberately escalating tensions between our two counties with the balloon thing. (3) Then if we were to now reinforce Taiwan China would say they we were being provocative and then " they have to invade"? As I wrote after finally shooting down the first balloon "Biden's reaction insures that there will be far more coming"! It is not that I am brilliant it is just that I have been a professional card player which was an honest profession compared to the one I'm in now. But, there is not a long line of employers waiting to hire a seventy-five year old but at least I can still think whereas our current President can not!

@Leechee America never had any enemies in the Middle East until she aligned herself with Israel - we are only there to protect Israeli interests. Virtually everyone is against the Iraq War, Omar's criticisms of American foreign policy are not unique. I'm talking about her being blatantly anti-American. If they wanted her off the committee, they should've either cited that, or just claim that it's what her and her party would've done to us. But kicking her off for "anti-Semitic" comments is weak, and only demonstrates who's in charge of America.

What the GOP said was anti Netanyahu hate speech = anti Israel hate speech = anti Jew hate speech = antisemitism. Unfortunately the ADL agreed. However the US constitution protects her thus she would not be taken to court.

@joseph frechette It is not a matter of religion; it is a matter of international law. People cannot occupy other people's land for 75 years, and remove people from their homes and property just because some people believe an old book makes them the chosen people of God.

We, the American people, must educate ourselves on the issues and the people who run for office.
Not just listen to campaign promises before we vote.
There are reliable sources out there that, with little effort, we are able to cut through the confusion and learn what is really happening and how those we elect, actually perform their duty while serving.

    • Sephiroth517

Sensible advice indeed. Nor should this education be limited to searching out news sources or sources of political opinion.
How can one begin to understand contemporary Middle Eastern affairs without delving into the history of the region BEFORE the US got involved? The US is a 'new kid on the block'. We are talking about sophisticated civilizations which date back more than 4,000 years.
Only the BIBLE explains the unique historical role of Israel in WORLD history,
including events which have not yet come to pass.
JESUS said that 'salvation is from the Jews' (John 4:22)--------which is NOT the same, however, as saying that all Jews are saved, or that one must be Jewish in order to be saved.

Muslims for a really long time in this country have been told that there is a privilege that we are given and that it might be taken away. We are told that we should be appropriate. We should go to school, get an education, raise our children, and not bother anyone, not make any kind of noise. Don't make anyone uncomfortable. Be a good Muslim.
"No matter how good you are, if you one day find yourself in a school where other religions are talked about, but when Islam is mentioned, we are only talking about terrorists and if you say something you are sent to the principal's office.
"So to me, I say, raise hell, make people uncomfortable. Because here's the truth: For too long we have lived with the discomfort of being a second-class citizen, and, frankly, I'm tired of it, and every single Muslim in this country should be tired of it.
"CAIR (this chapter) was founded after 9/11 because they recognized that some people did some thing and that all of us were starting to lose access to our civil liberties. So you can't just say that today someone is looking at me strange, that I am going to try to make myself look pleasant. You have to say this person is looking at me strange, I am not comfortable with it, I am going to go talk to them and ask them why. Because that is a right you have."

@Parmesan Pirate Out of context, perhaps. With prejudice, perhaps. In context, it made perfect sense.
It did not matter what the "some people" or "some thing" was; it was neither perpetrated by East African immigrants, nor supported by most Muslims, but they are being blamed by association because Americans are too uneducated to know that Somali people are not Arabs - they are certainly not Saudis. That is her point.
On the other hand, the United States invaded Iraq under false pretenses, and more Iraqis have been killed than the soldiers the United States lost in the entire World War II. How do you talk about that conflict? Are you delicate and specific, or is it more like, "yeah, yeah, whatever."

For a guy who is alleged to have such influence, the man seems pretty quiet.
But wouldn't he be kicking himself by supporting her?
A relative of mine once attended an 'alternative' high school where there was a pro-Palestinian club led by a Jewish girl. Go figure. My relative was not impressed and argued for the rights of israeli citizens to live free from terror. I guess that didn't go over well, and within weeks she was out of that 'school'.

Probably the same way any other US citizen would. How did she get the money?
Well, I heard that her district is heavily populated by people from her own country.
I live next door to the US, in a multicultural metropolis, and can tell you that partisan patronage has a lot to do with electoral success in our immigrant communities. Some people will vote for one of their own, regardless of ideology.
Not everyone thinks the issues through carefully, be they citizens of the first generation or the tenth!!!

@marcus onesimus sorry for the late reply.. I do agree with the issues you highlight , and the rather bleak or ominous outcomes that persist .
The Israeli people are now protesting and raising issues with the current far right govt , obviously painting a chaotic picture of Israel's polarized political system, it's far right ideology and support base , versus its more moderate voices. As this starts to gain momentum, the Palestinian issue gets put to the back burner , not that it was a pressing and a important issue in the first instance
I agree , that the current Palestinian leadership is a mirror image of the political divide we see in Israel . The Palestinian leadership has to a large extent failed its people ., and the obvious differences in ideology , rise of militant voices, can be a threat to peace and accepting Israel's right to exist
I think for the large majority of people on both sides , they just want peace and for their rights to be respected , and for now peace seems to be a distant wish with no future in sight

You may be right that the world at large is paying lip=service to the Arab-Palestinian cause rather than caring intensely. We have to recognize the limitations of human compassion, the large number of worthy causes competing for attention, and the factor of FATIGUE. For this issue has been on the menu for 75 years, and while there has been a great deal of improvement in relations between Israel and SOME prominent Arab states,
stagnation is as far as anyone has got on the Palestinian question.
Sure, the US and Israel are allies, but the US is not all-powerful, if indeed it ever was. It is mostly the Americans themselves who keep calling it 'the greatest nation on earth, ever'.
I wonder whether lack of imagination among Palestinian leadership has something to do with this stagnation. Or whether cultural attitudes peculiar to this people reinforce a cult of 'martyrdom', inhibiting more creative and life-afforming forms of 'resistance'. Jesus taught resistance through lovingkindness, but this might not appeal to muslims, with their religion of domination and insubordination.
Perhaps the religious divide among Palestinians, increasingly favorable to muslims, does not permit a good political solution. Were it not for muslim intransigence and thirst for revenge, there should be a two-state solution in effect already.
I do not agree that Israel is answerable to no one. it is answerable to God,
to the God of Israel in fact. I make it a habit to read from the Old Testament most days, and I know of no document more sharply critical of Jewish misbehavior.
      Along with privilege comes responsibility.
I do not even think that China (PRC) is unaccountable, though it has the world's largest population, may soon have the world's largest economy, and is unquestionably the #1 expansionist imperial threat on earth today. Putin is grabbing a lot of attention, but he is a Chinese client.

We need more thorough screening of people entering into governmental roles that deal with concepts like national security and foreign relations.

We need to get rid of all Dem and Rep labels. We need to vote on individual bases for the actual individual and not the party. There needs to be a cap "a realistic cap" on how much money you can spend when it comes to campaigning, so that everyone can be heard. It would be interesting to see when campaigning, not being allowed to claim, democrat, republican, independent, etc. See how the votes come in then...everyone's vote should count.

@Josh Polihronakis I'm not saying she didn't say that quote, I'm saying that the lack of context significantly changes the meaning of the quote. What she said was "some people did something and then all of us got discriminated", which is a criticism of the anti-muslim sentiment that existed after 9/11. But if you only take the first half of the quote, it makes it seems like she was diminishing the tragedy of 9/11 and that completely misses the point she was trying to make.
