Absolutely. I spent so many hours staring out the window watching the changing landscapes. For 4 days I was never bored. The train is the best way to see Canada! Thanks David for commenting!
I know! Very disappointing- I got some decent views of the canyon when there was barely enough light left- but too dark to film it. Thank you for commenting Doug!
Thank you so much William! That really means a lot to me! I'm not a professional KZclipr but I try to make enjoyable interesting videos. I appreciate you watching and commenting :)
Wow, thanks for a great trip across my Canada. I have travelled by train many times when I was young from Edmonton to Vancouver, but it was great to see the way it is now. Looks like you had a great trip.
Muito obrigado pelo seu gentil elogio! Fico feliz que tenha gostado do vídeo! O Canadá é um país tão lindo - e o Brasil também! Espero que a vida seja boa em Porto Alegre!
"Absolutely incredible Stream!" Canada is an amazing beautiful country, that is not so accessible to most Canadians because the Government has never made it a priority to keep Canadiens at home as opposed to heading to the USA, by marketing Canada more financially friendly for the average Canadians and their families to visit, learn about and enjoy and see just how beautiful each Provence and Territories are. Now, just Quebec, Montreal or Toronto! The incredible views from * THE ROCKIES TO VANCOUVER WERE STUNNING!* Loved the incredible water fall!....♥️ 🇨🇦
Thanks so much Amgela for your comments! I definitely agree- Canada is an amazingly beautiful country- which could be better marketed by the government. Glad you enjoyed the video!
Absolutely one of the best rail passenger videos I have ever seen. I've done all of the western Canadian routes back in 1989 and 1995 and much of the scenery west of Hinton Alberta was familiar to me. My jaw dropped and tongue fell out at the many delightful dishes served in the Dining Cars and Cafe. The availability of breakfast on arrival at Vancouver was a pleasant surprise. I chuckled at seeing the Amtrak security fence to the left at Vancouver. I arrived from Seattle that way in 1995. You have done great justice to Train No 1 Toronto to Vancouver Steve so congratulations from this Aussie from Melbourne. Cheers!🙂🙂🙂
Hi Michael- thank you so much for your generous compliment- that means a lot! I'm glad you enjoyed it even though it's not a professional video. The meals I had on the train were surprisingly good! I didn't even notice the Amtrak security fence in Vancouver Haha! Thank you for pointing that out! Thanks for sharing your comments. I hope all is well in Melbourne!!
Excellent video. Almost like watching a movie. Superb photography and editing. Never a dull moment. Watching this may be the next best thing to actually travelling the route (which we are unlikely to get a chance to)! Thanks Steve for all your effort.
I rode the Canadian in 1964 I was 12 years old. My Dad had taken the entire family on a train trip from San Fr(ancisco to the New York worlds fair. Took another train Delaware central? and went to Quebec city where we took the Canadian from. It was a magical trip we went coach but we could eat in the dining car. I love that they still have the same dome cars. Thank you for the great video! (we took 2 other trains back through Seattle to SF) Thank you again I would love to take the same trip again someday!
It speaks volumes of the lack of rail service in Kanada old coaches and wait forever on sidings as freight has priority, but hey thank you for this awesome video
What an amazing journey you did with your family! Those are all wonderful routes! I wish my family took me on a trip like this when I was a kid. Thanks so much for sharing your memories- and hopefully you can take a similar trip again. Glad you enjoyed the video!
Really lovely video. So nice not to have a voiceover. You let the landscape speak for itself. I live in south central Saskatchewan, and we often feel ignored by travellers and Eastern Canadians, so it was nice to see my neighbouring towns in the video - Raymore, Semans, Nokomis, Watrous. I only wish our gorgeous prairie summers could be in the video. Early spring is not when the prairies are at their best. The mountains are lovely, but give me the wide patchwork fields, small towns dotting the landscape, and open sky any day! Thank you for this. It’s also worth mentioning for non-Canadians that there is another 1500 or so miles east of Toronto. P.S. Now go and listen to the late, great Stan Rogers singing ‘Northwest Passage’. It’s a Canadian anthem 💖.
Thank you so much for the wonderful compliment! The landscapes were truly amazing- and your are very blessed to live here! I would love to do other train trips east of Toronto- I haven't seen that region at all. I've listened to Northwest Passage by Stan Rogers it's a great Anthem! I appreciate your comments :)
Fantastic trip across Canada. Scenery around Jasper is amazing. Great video quality I have enjoyed from my chair. The written narration is perfect vs speaking. Thank you for videoing this long trip.
This is a very nice train it’s unfortunate that the owner of the tracks, the Canadian National Railway, has slowed the train down to the point that now it takes about 12 hours longer than when I last wrote it about five or six years ago. It’s very sad to see it being sabotaged like this.
That's very disappointing yes! People ride it for nostalgia- and the views but it is definitely a slow and inefficient method of transportation, with frequent delays. Thank you for commenting Bill!
Thanks a million, Steve! We are doing this 4-day trip in Oct 26th, then drive back to Kamloops, Banff and Calgary. You video helped a lot on what to expect! You did a great job and lots of techniques applied to provide helpful info. A Real PRO!
Thanks so much Oscar!! I'm just a regular tourist who films video clips on my iPhone and then put this video together. I wish I had a funny entertaining personality so I could put my commentary into these videos like professional KZcliprs. But I'm glad you enjoyed the video for what it is. I hope to do more of these train trips and make some new videos. I appreciate your compliment!
What a fantastic video. At the end I had the feeling of doing the journey myself. I restarted the video on a huge TV and it was so impressive like looking out of the train window. Living in Europe makes it very expensive to get a transcontinental ride on the Canadian. But it will be my personal trip of a lifetime and I hope to do it in 2024. Very warm greetings from Germany 🇩🇪
I remember visiting my Norwegian cousins in mid-May and there still being enough snow for cross-country skiing in the mountain pass between their town and the nearest railroad station, but I hadn't realized that the snow would still be around along the Canadian's route in mid-May.
Thank you so much! The trip was amazing! , I love all the views and the photograph is incredible!. I enjoy a lot all the information about each city and town, and cultural issues. Congratulations for your journey! Best regards from Mexico. 🙋♀
Awesome !!! Video made. Admire your hard work & patience to give these scenic shots. Fantabulous job !!! done, keep making more such breath taking videos & God bless you in your future endeavours.
Thank you so much Sanjay for your very kind comments! I'm not a professional KZclipr- just a tourist filming on my iPhone. But I had fun putting this together. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Nice video. Love my memories of riding from Saskatoon to Vancouver and back when we were kids. NIce camera work, especially at the end with the sunset. The dome is just the best, with the ability to see in front of and behind the train, especially in the mountains, and in the endless Ontario forest. I'd like to see a cross fade between your clips, very easy to do. Great job.
Thank you so much Roy! I really appreciate your compliments! I spent most of the trip in the Dome car- its definitely a great vantage point. Your lucky to have these wonderful memories as a kid riding these trains. When I put together this video I wasn't sure if I should put a transition between each shot. Now I wish I did- it would have enhanced the overall video. Thank you for the suggestion! I'm glad you enjoyed watching :)
I just did this trip from Toronto to Vancouver June 26-30. This videos brings back memories of my trip. Now I am considering doing it again! Perhaps next time I'll go the other direction in the winter.
That’s awesome! Very cool that you just did this same trip! I hope you enjoyed it as much as me- I would love to do it again in the other direction. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
We took the trip on The Snow Train from Toronto to Vancouver 10 years ago .SNOW BEAUTIFUL SNOW AND GOING THROUGH Rockies was straight from Heaven !, We spent two nights in Jasper and our final day and night on the train !!!Delicious food and GREAT staff and very clean !!! Watching the trip when there was no snow put a different view on everything . I liked the snow train the best . We were on a tour from NC and SC and got to see things of interest of winter time in Snowy ❤
That's amazing! I would love to repeat this trip during the winter. Even though there will be less daylight hours to see the views it would be worth it to see all the snow covered landscapes! I lived my whole life in Southern California so I never see snow! Thanks Ed for sharing!!
I van only imagine the enormous amount of energy and expertise that went into the construction of this'll railroad!! Whew! Thank you for this superb video.
My wife and I are 80. We have had to give up overnight train travel because we cannot climb into an upper berth. When a railroad supplies a true double bed or twin beds at the lower level and at the same price as two berths, then we'll consider a nice long train trip again. Until then, videos like yours will have to do. Of course, we have driven from Winnipeg up the Yellowhead to Jasper and down to Vancouver. So we've seen that same territory.
@Go Hawks 2023 Thank you so much for the compliment! Perhaps if enough shareholders voice their concerns about this it might help to make some progress. It's definitely worth trying! It's sad how many disabled and elderly people have to miss out on travel due to lack of accessibility. I hope this will improve in the near future! Some countries are much farther behind than others. Wishing all the best for you!!
@Steve Kelso hopefully they will do it without human rights getting involved. As we are all getting older 🙂 and will have issues when we do (most). Your travel ways change, and train travel is great unless your elderly or disabled. We're share holders and I am going to being this up. May do nothing but might help a little?? Never know what will help and what won't. Will not know unless you try. By the way, great video. Thanks.
@Go Hawks 2023 agreed. I hope that Via Rail's management will someday make the needed modifications on their trains to make them easily accessible for those with limited mobility!
Sir, that is wrong. To many places get away with not accommodating elderly & disabled people. It's truly appalling in 2023 in countries like Canada. And there are more elderly, daily these days, so they say. Glad your still enjoying traveling as that route is truly beautiful. Cheers.
Yes it's very difficult to climb up to the upper berths- and the sleeper cabins are expensive for most budgets. Hopefully someday they can put in a real double bed on the lower berths. At least you can see the same area by car. Thank you Paul for watching!!
One of the worlds greatest trains! I hope to ride it someday with the original BUDD built coaches. My only experiences riding VIA rail are the corridor services and the Ocean.
You're very welcome Al! Thanks so much for the nice compliment! I'm not a professional KZclipr, I just put together these videos for fun. Glad u enjoyed it!
Very nice video and I am amazed that you covered entire 4 days in one video. I did the same journey in September 2021 and had to make 4 separate videos for each day before posting them. 😀
@Snoopy You're welcome! The movie nights and game nights are kind of random- it's planned by the onboard activities staff. They decide and write up a schedule on a dry erase board and post it in the Cafe car. I was always busy looking at the views and filming so I didn't really watch the movies, but I did listen to all the interesting lectures in the observation dome. I hope you're able to do this trip next month! Definitely the experience of a lifetime!
@Steve Kelso - It was awesome thank you. I would of loved to know more about the movie night, game night ect. I'm planning my first Vancouver to Banff hopefully next month.
Thanks so much! I'm glad you were able to take the same amazing journey that I took! It wasn't easy to condense the whole 4 days into 1 video. I considered splitting it up into several parts since not many people will watch a 2 hour KZclip video. I'm ok with how it came out though. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Greatest video of all the one about the Canadian from Toronto to Vancouver . Video is crisp and very well done with most of the time the real sound . I did the eastern portion from Montreal to Halifax and was most of the time in the dome car or sitting in the last car , in the tail . Not as enjoyable these days with the buffer car added . The food looks great and tasty . I guess you were not happy to arrive 3 hours before your schedule time 😉
Thank you so much Louis for your generous compliment! I'm not a professional videographer- just a tourist filming on my phone. But I think I have a good eye for filming and I enjoy editing! I would have love to do the eastern segment that you did! I was surprised when we arrived in Vancouver 3 hours early- I wanted the trip to go on much longer! Hahaha. Glad you enjoyed the video!
Wow. Just breath taking Canada's is beautiful. I am from the US and your rail system way nicer than our amtrak here. I took train from Toledo to Tampa and trains I was not even close to how nice the Canada's rail system is. We here to upgrade our rail and train system desperately. Thank you for sharing I would love to take this trip all the way across Canada.
Thanks so much Jacqueline! I definitely agree. The US rail system is way overdue for an upgrade. But I really enjoyed some of the long distance Amtrak routes. Thank you for watching and commenting!
I enjoy the video, minimal low volume background. Showing the maps and menus. The inside of the train and scenery. I actually stay in my chair watch the whole video without getting up. Thank you Watertown, Connecticut
Hi Jim! That's amazing! I didn't think anyone would watch the whole thing because it's such a long video LOL! I'm not a professional KZclipr but I had fun putting this together. I'm so glad you enjoyed it and I appreciate your generous compliments. I hope life is good in Watertown CT!
@R C I doubt that would happen anytime soon. It's still a very popular route especially during the peak seasons. Even the $10,000 prestige cabins sell out. I hope you're able to do this trip in the near future!
Thanks so much RC! It's my pleasure. The train was somewhat empty but not as empty as in looks in the video. I purposely filmed the interiors of the train during times it was unusually empty- like when passengers were having their breakfast and lunch seatings. Or early morning, late at night. The train was full of a large French tour group that left the train in Jasper- and the rest of the trip was much less crowded. I hope to do another video soon!
Very well done! I enjoyed all the information included. To echo what others are saying, it felt like I was on the train. And as a foodie, I appreciate the menu and food shots 😋
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I'm a foodie as well so I made sure to show every meal I had on the train along with the menus. Because a lot of videos don't show the meals- but I think it's pretty important hahaha. I appreciate your comments!
Thanks for the HI resolution imagery. Thanks for NOT putting music over. (I can play my own choice of music if I so choose.) Thanks for the map shots. Thanks for minimum meal shots. Thanks for the annotations. The time stamps worked well too. Thanks for editing the many views. I especially like your emphasis on water scenes. Ronn
Thanks for this awesome video. It brought back memories when I took the same train last Nov 2017 & viewed those i missed! Departure from Toronto was delayed by 4 hrs (2am) & arrival in Vancouver delayed by 6 hrs (2pm).
You're welcome Alma! I'm glad you were able to experience this trip for yourself- but those long delays are pretty common unfortunately! I've been through a 6 hour delay and missed connections. I'm glad you enjoyed the video- and thanks for leaving your comment!
Awesome video, lovely outside shots! So many videos show more of the inside than the outside, yours are perfect. So much water ! Love from South Africa.
Thank you MJ!! I tried to find a good balance between the outdoor shots and interior shots that show all the areas of the train. I'm glad you enjoyed it! I hope life is good in South Africa!
Thanks for the compliment Niteskate! I hope you have a wonderful trip on the Canadian this June. It will definitely be a memorable trip. I'm so glad I decided to do it!
in 1964 my father went out west to try to work at the oil rigs, and found he couldn't because he wasn't of their union...so, do I travel back to Toronto, or do I see a bit of Canada while I can...so he travelled out to BC and was so much better for the trip...he thoroughly enjoyed it and spent much of the time in the upper deck he loved Canad.
Fantastic video. My only wish is there was an odometer and tiny compass running alongside the filming to give the feeling of the actual distance and how the train lines are lined up to head westernly. I guess I could be really picky and ask for the altitude above sea level and outside air temperature also. LOL. It's lovely and I would loveto do this trip myself.
@Maureen Abray I appreciate that!! I'm always looking for ways to make a better video since I'm not a professional KZclipr and there's a lot I can learn!
Thank you so much Maureen! That's actually a great idea to put a compass and possibly altitude & temp to go along with the video! Now if I go thru with this idea I will have to pay you consulting fees Haha. Thanks so much for watching and sharing your comments!
This video is really well done. Excellent photography for the video along with your comments. Place this on full screen on my computer and it is like I am on the train. In the early 2000s I rode all the AMTRAK rail west of St. Louis / Chicago. In 2009 on one of those 5 weekend to weekend trips I included riding The Canadian back and forth between Vancouver and Jasper. I really enjoyed riding The Canadian in the Rockies with its 1950s era passenger cars and here get to see it all. Thanks!
@Larry Loveless What a great story Larry! I'm sure you had great experiences on all those long distance Amtrak routes. It's a shame that these trips were too long for your wife to enjoy- but of course these long hours of inactivity doesn't appeal to everyone. I'm lucky that with my many years with the company I get a lot of vacation days to do these trips too. I haven't done any long distance scenic train trips in Europe yet, but hopefully soon! Thanks so much for subscribing and sharing your stories- I love hearing them!
@Steve Kelso I subscribed to you. Interesting hearing how you got started. For me it was watching a series called Great Railway Journeys of the World on out PBS TV station. i remember they included The Canadian, Zephyr, and the Coast Starlight. I wanted to do it once I retired but my wife did not want me being old traveling around by myself so wanted me to get it out of my system. She went once but it was too much rail time for her, but for me it was a great adventure by myself. It just kind of evolved doing everything west of St. Louis to finish them all out west. It was a great way to see the west. I only used a hotel when needing to make a rail connection the next day. This though allowed time for taking a trolley tour to see cities like San Diego, L.A, Seattle, and Vancouver. I had seen some of the West only once and our new car actually had its transmission go out making for a stessful way home. I liked just sitting mostly in the observation lounge car and sometimes eating in the diner car. I rode all coach except for one trip all by sleeper. These five weekend to weekend trips were spaced out between 2001 and 2013. I was lucky I worked at the same company a long time so had plenty of vacation days to help get approvl for the trips from my wife. Now I enjoy just watching videos like yours on youtube. I even in later years went with a daughter a couple times for rail trips in Europe, when my wife did not want her traveeling there alone. Their high speed rail is impressive. Happy travelling!
@Larry Loveless Thanks so much Larry! I also really enjoy watching these type of KZclip videos- which is how I got inspired to do this trip in the first place. I hope to do more of them in the future!
@Steve Kelso I think I saw that already somewhere reading the comments below. Hard to believe done by phone. You are right about being good at the editing and getting good shots, as I have enjoyed watching other rail videos on KZclip. The ones of routes I have already ridden realy bring it back to me. Thanks
You're welcome Larry! The best way to see these videos is definitely on a TV screen. Although I am not a professional KZclipr- I just filmed with with my phone. But I think I'm good at editing and capturing good shots. You're very fortunate to do all those long distance Amtrak routes and the Canadian! I also did all the major Amtrak routes during the pandemic. But I especially love the vintage 1950's train cars on the Canadian- very unique and nostalgic! Thank you so much for watching and sharing your comments!
I usually do not comment on videos however this was great. I ready to book the trip for myself however I would want to go from Halifax to Vancouver.. Thanks you for not talking over the video which I always find annoying on other videos. It made all the difference. The captions on the screen were excellent. What kind of equipment did you use for your production?
Thank you so much David for watching and commenting! I only used my iPhone for this video- I'm not a professional KZclipr with high end filming equipment Haha. I hope you're able to do this trip someday!
Did this journey from Vancouver to Toronto 1962. Loved it ,was an epic journey. Lived and work in Canada for two years then did the drive on Route 66. . .from Canada to LA. where I caught the ship home back to New Zealand . Kiwi from Virginia
Love, love, love your video!! I haven’t been on a train trip for 20+ years and it brought back great memories!! Curious though, you mentioned all was included in price but back then it was expected that we tip the wait staff in dining and the valet when we got off…is that still expected in this trip?
Thanks so much Eileen! I'm not a professional KZclipr- just a tourist filming on my iPhone, but I'm glad you enjoyed it! Yes- you're expected to leave a tip for your cabin attendant if you're in a sleeper car/ berth and a tip for your dining server. I didn't always tip every meal- sometimes once a day.
Thank you for the free trip! The scenery was amazing! I would really love to take the trip for real next time. Those sleeper rooms look so comfy! My boyfriend and I would really enjoy being on this train.
You're welcome Lonni! Thanks so much for watching and commenting! I also enjoy watching KZclip videos and experiencing other people's trips thru their eyes. The scenery was even more impressive in person. I had some trouble sleeping well on the first night because of the constant movement, but I got used to it by the next night. I hope you and your boyfriend can do a train trip like this someday!
Thank you for this wonderful trip across Canada. I saw more of it the I did for the 19 years I lived in Ontario. It was beautiful. Thank you for including the trip costs. Does that include all meals and snacks? I hope one day you will do a trip east. Have a Blessed day.
Thank you so much Margaret! I'm really glad you enjoyed watching! For sleeper class passengers (all berths and cabins) the meals and snacks are included in the far. I definitely plan to do the east trip as well. I appreciate your compliments!
Hallo Michael. THANKYOU🙏🙏. What a beautiful view. I hope I can do this trip one day. It looks like it is also possible for disabled People. I am sure it is expensive but worth it. God bless you. Greetings from Austria.
So well done. I did this trip years ago. Now that we saw your video, my 81 year old hubby has put it on his bucket list. Toronto-Vancouver return next spring. BTW thanks for not throwing music on here.
That's amazing! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video and I really hope you and your hubby are able to do this trip yourself! I put music on my previous train videos and people hated it Hahaha. Thank you Ghislaine for commenting!
Great video , we did this trip on May 29 in car 117 cabin F. It was awesome as we only had about 7 people in the whole sleeping car . No problem at all getting a seat in the dome car . The meals and on board staff were amazing .
Thanks so much Mike! Sounds like you did this trip at a great time! It must have been great to avoid the crowds and have so much free space to yourself. It was also a wonderful experience for me, and not too crowded :)
Iam British and did theN Y to Denver Journey on the Zephyr .Loved it !Done the Denver to Salt lake too Equally wonderful. Love the trains lovely staff too
That's wonderful! I loved the Zephyr train as well! Glad you've been able to enjoy these beautiful train routes. Thanks so much Dorothy for watching and commenting. Hope life is good in England!
Hahaha- that absolutely true! Several people have commented on the amount of Chevy dealerships in these smaller Canadian towns. Thanks James for commenting and watching!
Thank you for the trip! Brought back so many memories. I love the bottom berth! Question though, where did you charge your devices? Do they have power in the sleepers now? And you were very lucky getting such beautiful photos of Mt. Robson. Gorgeous!
@M Grizz I agree yes! The berths were perfect for me. The roomettes have outlets in them. I would like to try out a roomette but they were too expensive for my budget LOL :)
A power bank is an excellent idea, thank you Steve. I love the sleeper berths because when you go to sleep the train "rocks" you side to side rather than head to toe as in a bedroom. But i guess the roomettes would have the bed under the window the same as a berth wouldn't it and there are outlets in a roomette right?
Thanks so much! I definitely got lucky with a clear view of Mt Robson :) There are still no outlets in the berths. There are random outlets in the hallways, in the lavatory and in the Cafe car and park lounge. I brought a power bank to charge my devices and then recharged my power bank with those outlets in the public spaces. I felt more comfortable leaving my power bank unattended then I would leaving my iPhone unattended in those areas. Let me know if you have other questions!
I did Battle Creak Michigan to West Glacier Park in February... and back. great food and cabin with my 12 year old daughter... my employer provided the funds for thirteen years of service to them. i let my daughter drive our snow mobile up to the top of the mountain. super great trip.
With a hyper loop rail service prince edward to Vancouver could be reached in 8 hours so no need for a sleeper carriage,no combustion or electricity needed,a faster fun way to see Canada at upto 1000kph,a good journey to watch all the same ✌️❤️🇬🇧
What is the best time of year to go? When does it start staying light long enough to be able to see all you did? Would it be any fun to go during the winter with snow or does it get dark so early you don't get to see much. I have SO many questions. Loved the video. Watched the entire thing.
@melanie sherman I agree- it would be very worthwhile to see the beautiful snow covered landscapes! Especially for me since there is no snow where I live and I don't get to see it often. We went through the Rockies in the daytime- on my Westbound trip. It was the best part of the whole trip for sure!
@Steve Kelso I know. The thought of a snow-covered landscape is enchanting, isn't it? But it would be dark so early. The Rockies were during the daytime, though, right?
Thanks so much Melanie for watching the whole video! I would say the best time of year would be end of May to the beginning of June- because you have the most daylight hours and the busy summer peak season hasn't quite started yet. I would love to do this route again during winter to see all the snow covered landscapes! However it will get dark very early- around 5 or 6pm so you won't be able to see nearly as much. It's a trade off, but I still want to do it :) Let me know any other questions you have!
I had heard of the various sleeping car options from other videos of this route, but what's the difference between Economy and Economy Plus? Is that like Coach vs. Business Class on Amtrak, where you're in a seat for the whole trip, but in Business Class you get nicer seats and a few other perks (like free non-alcoholic beverages)?
Good question- I haven't heard of a difference between economy and economy plus- maybe in the regular coach class there are larger more comfortable seats. But I've never been in coach- only sleeper berths.
Me too! It's $10,000 per trip though which is out of my reach. When the Canadian first began the prestige service, many of the employees laughed at that price and thought nobody would pay it. But sure enough the prestige cabins routinely sell out! The marketing executives hit a home run with this one :)
Excellent video! I’ll be on this train going the opposite direction later this summer, I’m very excited and a bit apprehensive (5 days is a long time lol). I’ll also be in a lower berth which, apparently, don’t have power outlets for charging devices, are they hard to find around? Thanks so much for sharing!
Hi Mimi- thanks so much for watching! I hope 5 days won’t be too long for you. I was worried about that too but I enjoyed every minute and never really got bored. Since there’s no power outlets in the sleeper berths you can use the power outlets that are in the lavatories, the hallways of the sleeper cars or in the cafe car. I would suggest bringing a power bank and leaving it in those areas to charge, rather than leaving your phone unattended. And then keep charging your devices with your power bank. Have a wonderful trip on the Canadian this summer!
There is no better way to see a country than by train and it just tells us how lovely Canada is, in fact what beautiful world we are lucky to live in
Absolutely. I spent so many hours staring out the window watching the changing landscapes. For 4 days I was never bored. The train is the best way to see Canada! Thanks David for commenting!
It amazes me that VIA travels the Fraser Canyon in the dark in both directions. The most scenic part of the whole journey.
I know! Very disappointing- I got some decent views of the canyon when there was barely enough light left- but too dark to film it. Thank you for commenting Doug!

Thanks so much for providing this time stamp guide. I should have put this in the description from the beginning. I'll do that next time!
Another fantastic train video! You really know how to let the trip come to the viewer.
Thanks so much Barb! It was certainly an incredible trip. Glad you've been fortunate enough to travel this area by train too!
"Absolutely incredible Stream!" Canada is an amazing beautiful country, that is not so

Thanks so much Amgela for your comments! I definitely agree- Canada is an amazingly beautiful country- which could be better marketed by the government. Glad you enjoyed the video!
Wow , absolutely beautiful train journey . ❤
Thank you so much Hugh! I appreciate your compliment!
You caught all the majestic grandeur of Canada and the unlimited amount of it. Thank you fr that epic journey!
Thanks so much Arch for your kind compliment- that means a lot to me! It's not a professional video but I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
Excellent video. Almost like watching a movie. Superb photography and editing. Never a dull moment. Watching this may be the next best thing to actually travelling the route (which we are unlikely to get a chance to)! Thanks Steve for all your effort.
Thank you so much Surath! I'm just a tourist filming on my phone- not a professional KZclipr. I'm glad you enjoyed it!!
Thank you for capturing all that beauty. Also thank you for the peace and quiet, no talking or music. It was a pleasure to watch.
Thanks so much Lisa! I'm really glad you enjoyed watching!
Great video. I rode the Canadian round trip Toronto-Vancouver-Toronto in 2000 with my father. This brings back lots of good memories.
Thank you so much Bill! I'm glad this video helped you relive some memories of your trip!
Superb images of the route of this train on the Toronto-Vancouver route!
Thank you for the compliment! I'm glad you enjoyed the video :)

Thank you so much Doreen! I'm really glad you enjoyed it- and I appreciate your nice compliment!
@Zebunisha Hajiani Thank you Zebunisha for watching! I hope you are able to do this incredible trip for yourself someday!
THANKYOU🙏 Micheal.
Hope I can do this trip 2025'
God bless you.
Greetings from Austria.
@Roger Stanton That's awesome! Same here! Expensive but definitely worth it to do it at least once in your life.
Did it in 2015 along with nearly all the long-distance US Amtrak trains. Severely dented the pension fund but absolutely worth it !!!!!
@B B That's a good deal! I would consider it :)
Awesome trip Steve! Thanks for sharing it with the masses!😊👍❤️
Thank you so much Jon!
I remember visiting my Norwegian cousins in mid-May and there still being enough snow for cross-country skiing in the mountain pass between their town and the nearest railroad station, but I hadn't realized that the snow would still be around along the Canadian's route in mid-May.
Wow, that's interesting! But I was also surprised to still see snow in certain parts of Canada in May. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Olá! Gostei muito de ver esse vídeo. Eu te agradeço por me proporcionar tão belo passeio! Abraços.
Muito obrigado Ivanilda pelo seu maravilhoso elogio! Estou muito feliz que você gostou do vídeo!
Thank you so much! The trip was amazing! , I love all the views and the photograph is incredible!.
I enjoy a lot all the information about each city and town, and cultural issues.
Congratulations for your journey! Best regards from Mexico. 🙋♀
Thank you so much Deyanira! I really appreciate your compliments and I'm glad you enjoyed watching. Hope all is well in beautiful Mexico!
Wonderful video….you were blessed with exceptional weather. I hope my trip in October of 2023 from Vancouver to Toronto will be as wonderful as yours!
Thank you so much Pete! Yes we did have nice weather for most of the trip. I hope you have an incredible time on the Canadian in October!
Awesome !!!
It's incredible to think about what an engineering feat it was to build this rail line! I'm glad you enjoyed watching the video. Thanks Mary Lou!!
I agree! I hope you get a chance to ride the Canadian someday! Truly an incredible trip 👌🏻👌🏻
Stupendous journey! Thank you so much! Best documentary on the Canadian I have yet to see!
You're very welcome Al! Thanks so much for the nice compliment! I'm not a professional KZclipr, I just put together these videos for fun. Glad u enjoyed it!
Absolutely gorgeous scenery, throughly enjoyable video, thank you
Thank you so much Chris! That compliment means a lot!
Excellent snapshot of lower berth, stations, stops, dining, service and the trip . It really helps for me to plan my trip.
@Steve Kelso .
Thanks so much Mike! I'm glad you found the video useful. I hope you have an incredible trip on the rails!
Love that VIA kept the vintage 50s vibes
Me too! Hopefully they will keep these vintage train cars in service for a long time :)
What a great trip. Greetings from Austria 🇦🇹
Thanks so much Alexandra! Hope all is well in beautiful Austria!
I loved this very detailed video of your trip. This makes me want to do this in 2 months as a birthday trip….
I'm so glad that you enjoyed the video! I really hope you'll be able to do this trip for yourself! Thank you for watching and commenting :)
WOW. Great trip. This train is on our bucket list.
Thank you Ernie for commenting! I really hope you get to do this trip someday!
I liked it. The excellent part is from timings 50:00 and beyond.
Thank you so much Ravinder! I agree- the best scenery is the second half of the trip :)
I have traveled from Minnesota, U.S. to Calgary, Alberta by Train; this trip is absolutely amazing...thanks for sharing.
That's incredible! You're very fortunate to have seen these beautiful areas by train! Thank you for watching and posting your comment :)
Awesome video of a beautiful country.
Thanks so much Jim! The beauty of Canada from this train was stunning!
Exceptional video! Very well shot and edited I thought.
That's very kind of you Vince! I'm glad you enjoyed it, and thank you for taking the time to comment!
Beautiful 🇨🇦! Thank you for sharing. Feeling sad because of so many empty seats. I hope there will be another video in autumn😊
@R C I doubt that would happen anytime soon. It's still a very popular route especially during the peak seasons. Even the $10,000 prestige cabins sell out. I hope you're able to do this trip in the near future!
@Steve Kelso 😊 sounds good! I just don’t want them to cut this route before I save up enough to experience the ride, maybe early September😊
The thing about trains…
“it’s not about where you’re going, it’s just get on board”
Yes- I definitely agree! Thank you for commenting Bev!
Wonderful vídeo! Thank You for sharing. I simply travelled across Canada !
Thank you for the compliment Chris! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
thanks for sharing, beautiful country we live in
Thanks so much Percy! You're definitely blessed to live in Canada!
Thanks for the HI resolution imagery.
Thanks for NOT putting music over. (I can play my own choice of music if I so choose.)
Thanks for the map shots.
Thanks for minimum meal shots.
Thanks for the annotations. The time stamps worked well too.
Thanks for editing the many views. I especially like your emphasis on water scenes.
Ronn
Thanks so much Ron for all the compliments! It's definitely not a perfect video since I am not a professional KZclipr. But I'm glad you enjoyed it!
It’s delightful traveling with you!
So glad you enjoyed it Billy!!
Wonderful scenes! I love to see once.
Thank you Santosh- I'm glad you enjoyed watching!!
Train showing its age. Especially the lounges. Food looks amazing! Thanks for the video!!!! (Edit: Except for that tuna melt)
Thanks so much John! Glad you enjoyed the video. I agree about the tuna melt- very underwhelming LOL.
thanks for creating this video...I loved the trip and you did an excellent job
Thanks so much John! It's definitely not a professional video but I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Very nice video Steve, looking forward to traveling on the Canadian this June to Toronto and back.
Thanks for the compliment Niteskate! I hope you have a wonderful trip on the Canadian this June. It will definitely be a memorable trip. I'm so glad I decided to do it!
Absolutely superb film! Thanx for posting. Greetings from America.
Thank you so much Dusty for your kind compliment. I really appreciate it!
Great video.. did this trip in May this year…. Never get tired of watching videos of the route and yours is one of the best….. thanks.
Thanks so much Graham! I'm really glad you enjoyed watching, and I appreciate your compliment!
in 1964 my father went out west to try to work at the oil rigs, and found he couldn't because he wasn't of their union...so, do I travel back to Toronto, or do I see a bit of Canada while I can...so he travelled out to BC and was so much better for the trip...he thoroughly enjoyed it and spent much of the time in the upper deck he loved Canad.
What a wonderful story! Glad your father was able to enjoy this beautiful region on the train. Thank you Evelyn for watching and sharing your story!
@Steve Kelso You're welcome! Those ideas are free. I'm happy you think this additional info would add value to the train trip vlog.
I love your videos bro. You represent your country very well..... I like it.
Thank you so much Angelito! I appreciate your compliment!
Wowww amazing scenery!! I’m fascinated with this video, is this a roundtrip? Thank you very much…
You're welcome Clara! The scenery was definitely incredible! This video is only 1 way- westbound from Toronto to Vancouver. Thanks for watching!
Thanks! Got that marked off the bucket list for way cheaper than expected! Appreciate it!
You're welcome Carole! LOL. I love re-living other people's trips on KZclip rather than traveling there myself sometimes :)
Did this journey from Vancouver to Toronto 1962. Loved it ,was an epic journey. Lived and work in Canada for two years then did the drive on Route 66. . .from Canada to LA. where I caught the ship home back to New Zealand . Kiwi from Virginia
@Go Hawks 2023 Thank you so much!
Pretty awesome 👍.
That's amazing! Glad you got to experience this incredible trip yourself!
@MJG No it was not that cold, maybe around 13 celsius
@Steve Kelso and in May it was O degrees in Jasper?
@Mike Lyons May 18-22nd
@Steve Kelso When did you take your trip ?
Thanks so much Mike! Sounds like you did this trip at a great time! It must have been great to avoid the crowds and have so much free space to yourself. It was also a wonderful experience for me, and not too crowded :)
Thanks for the ride,,it was very cool I really enjoyed it !! Grate video
Thanks so much Carl! I'm really glad you enjoyed watching! Take care :)
...Beautiful Train Ride and Trip...!!!!....🥰🥰🥰
Thank you so much Hellen! It was such an amazing trip with beautiful scenery! I appreciate your comment :)

That's wonderful! I loved the Zephyr train as well! Glad you've been able to enjoy these beautiful train routes. Thanks so much Dorothy for watching and commenting. Hope life is good in England!
Great content as always Steve...
Thank you so much! I appreciate your compliment!
Two take aways from this glorious trip : Canada will never run out of Fresh Water and they only have Chevrolet Dealerships in Canada!
Fantastic video, I felt like I was on the train. Such beautiful scenery and the train is lovely. Thank you for sharing.🙂❤️
Thanks so much Susie! I'm glad you enjoyed watching!
What a fabulous trip! What time of year was this trip taken?
Thanks so much Katherine!! It really was a fabulous trip! I took this trip at the end of May :)
That's all intersting throughout the journey ...... ... sightseeing & couch as well ❤️🩹
Thanks so much for watching! I enjoy sightseeing thru KZclip videos as well!
I did Battle Creak Michigan to West Glacier Park in February... and back. great food and cabin with my 12 year old daughter... my employer provided the funds for thirteen years of service to them. i let my daughter drive our snow mobile up to the top of the mountain. super great trip.
That sounds amazing- I wish I could so something like that! Thank you for sharing your story!
Amtrak can learn a lot from Canada Rail.
Very true! I think Canada Rail is a far superior service
Makes you aware how big this country is.
It certainly does! I loved seeing all the changing landscapes the whole way :)
It was my pleasure! Thank you.🇨🇦Cambridge,Ont.
Woweeeee what a journey! Cindy 🚆
Thanks so much Cindy! It was an amazing journey!
Very good place 👏
Thank you Biju!!
With a hyper loop rail service prince edward to Vancouver could be reached in 8 hours so no need for a sleeper carriage,no combustion or electricity needed,a faster fun way to see Canada at upto 1000kph,a good journey to watch all the same ✌️❤️🇬🇧
That's true Imagine if they had that kind of service! Wish they had the modern high speed trains that they have in Asia and Europe
A round trip in Prestige Class is my dream trip on the Canadian.
Thanks a lot for such a beautiful video.
You're welcome Mohak! I really appreciate your compliment!
The best train video yet.
Thank you Martin for the compliment!!
