Thanks all for watching. Next week i'll be taking The Ocean, overnight sleeper train across Eastern Canada. Can't wait to share. Do let me know down below any train or plane trips you'd like to see in future videos :)
Royal Scotsman Northern Belle Jacobite Premier Dining on a railtour operated by each company (RTC, WCRC, Saphos, LSL etc) Bonus points for each steam-hauled one.
Hi Will: Thanks for creating and sharing this video. This is a great video souvenir of our trip last week. It was great to meet with you. Keep well. Cheers, Keith & Karen Pinn (Seats 59 & 60).
I have done this route countless times, although never on this expensive train, the scenery shown in this video is typical, and it is like that for the whole 1000 km. Canadians are always very well behaved and very civilized, you will never see bad or obscence behavior like I saw from river rafters shown in a YT travel video on the new route this company does in Colorado USA.
I took the Rocky Mountaineer on the reverse ride just two weeks ago and one of the things that was of great use to me is something that you did not mention at all - that is there is a lift in each car for those who have trouble navigating the narrow spiral staircase. The crew is always eager to help in this regard. So going to the dining car or to the washroom is no trouble at all. Th lift can even accommodate wheelchairs. Good job Rocky Mountaineer!
Thank you for mentioning this! I was watching this and thinking it was yet another trip I could never take, but this means I can put this trip on my bucket list after all.
The Rocky Mountaineer really did look like an incredible experience. The weather and the sights were just perfect, and the train and crew seemed like grade A service. Beautiful look to the train and even without rooms aboard the social experience is nice for people open it. Not like your having a social dinner on a New York subway train. Marvelous video, Canada is beautiful.
Looks phenomenal! My wife has done this tour in Goldfleaf and said it was awesome. We live in Kamloops so are accustomed to seeing it pass through. The Rockies can’t be beat for scenery.
When I worked in the travel industry, I booked this for my parents in Gold Leaf 🍁, they thoroughly enjoyed the journey and remarked that it was the best rail journey they had ever done. It’s definitely something I’d love to replicate, thanks Will 👍🏻
There are FIVE different Rocky Mountaineer routes. Plus VIA Rail, the Ontario Northland, the Tshiuetin Railway, the White Pass & Yukon Route. All great. You won't be able to chose, so do what I did. Do them all ! Kind regards from, London, England.
I’m from Calgary Ab, go to Banff often, and I’d just like to say thank you for showing people around the world how beautiful this province is. I just got back from my anniversary in Canmore and we watched a ton of your videos while we were away and came home to see this. Keep going! Thank you for the great content 😊 I’d love to see you exploring the towns
For a city of 1 Million, Calgary is exceptionally clean, safe, and modern, except for the homeless problem downtown, many who are from eastern Canada. In nearly all suburbs you can be perfectly safe walking down the street at midnight, and in some places during the day you can see the sharp wall of the Rockies on the western horizon.
My wife and I went on this amazing train . We will never forget the good time we had. The staff and service were beyond the highest standard like Diamond class not gold one. I will do it again one day . Thank you Rocky Mountaineer for an unforgettable journey . Jose from Melbourne Australia.
This trip is moving towards the top of my list. The first class experience is what I’d expect. It’s a shame there aren’t sleeper cars. I think the experience of sleeping on a train would be fun. Thanks for showing off all the train has to offer.
hey there - the problem with sleeping on the train, is that you miss all the amazing scenery while you are asleep. Van to the Rockies is a fabulous trip, you don't want to miss anything. cheers! ;-)
Done it in Summer and Winter. Due to daylight, more views in Summer but the Winter crossing was magical. Crawling at 5mph to avoid triggering an avalanche was an eye opener.
Love all your videos! You do such a fantastic job with all of them. I believe I’ve watched them all and enjoyed them all immensely. I turned 80 yrs old yesterday and am severely disabled and my traveling days are over. But you make it seem as though I’m traveling with you!! Thanks so much for that!!
Canada is on top of my bucket list of places to travel. Your train journey has just confirmed what a beautiful and breathtaking country Canada is and has just made me want to visit it even more.
@E S Victoria to Courtenay on VIA's Malahat is NOT on my list ! We went to Vancouver Island in 2011, and it closed 4 weeks prior to our arrival. Then in 2013 we went to Provence Quebec, and they closed the line from Matapedia to Gaspe also 4 weeks prior to our arrival. We were more lucky, we did Banff to Calgary on the Rocky Mountaineer prior to the service being cut back to Banff. We also managed to Toronto to Cochrane on the Ontario Northland, prior to it becoming a 15 hour (?) bus ! We also did the Orford Express, Credit Valley Explorer, Hull Chelsea Wakefield, and Chute Montmorency to La Malbaie prior to their closures. I wish everyone good luck in reopening these lines. Sadly, I heard the station area at Victoria has been redeveloped. For a fantastic country made by the railway, it is sad the railways close so frequently.
@Vic Sams Question for you! Did you manage to do the Via Rail train from Victoria to Courtney before they shut the line down in 2011? I used to take it every other week and it was a beautiful journey. Hopefully they restore the rail line one day.
Bringing back very happy memories of the first visit to Canada, travelling Gold leaf, spotting bears and coyotes. Actually moved to Canada just a few months later, based on this experience supposedly for 6 months and stayed 6.5 years 😁
Ha ha we had friends from Germany come to stay with us on Vancouver Island in the 90s. They followed up the trip by moving here less a year later and are still here for almost 25 years now.
Hi, we went on this train in June /22 and enjoyed it immensely. The magnificent scenery, comfort , exquisite food and friendly, accommodating staff and meeting of new friends have truly made this a memorable trip. A bit on the expensive side but something you should experience and add to your bucket list. My wife and I had taken a 13 day Alaska cruise and land tour before picking up the train in Vancouver. This train excursion didn’t end up in second place as the scenery and service blended seamlessly into the best vacation we have ever taken. This turned out to be the trip we had hoped for as our reservation had been cancelled upon the pandemic setting in, but we’ll worth the 2 year wait
As local just a short drive away from Banff, I have yet to experience this train! I see it frequently, but I am so grateful for this video. I love seeing train rides in other countries from your channel, but to see local stuff that I drive through or fly over sometimes, just makes this video that much more enjoyable.
I’ve driven threw twice and almost got in a car accident both times because I couldn’t stop taking in the views. Going by train seems like a much better idea
Wow, how modern the Canadian Train is! It’s quite interesting, when people travel across the US , they just drive their own cars, I would have never known that people can view the Rocky Mountains so closely just by taking on board.
Just returned from Australia, and the journey from Sydney to Perth on the Indian Pacific. Fabulous. The Gold Service cabin was comfortable and spacious. The Outback Explorers lounge was where we spent most of our time... a real treat to watch Australia pass by the windows. The young lady making the specialty coffee really knew her barista craft... The Adelaide Restaurant fare was pretty much over the top... pretty much the same quality as a top restaurant anywhere in the world... and the service... well it was just fabulous. We were one of two American couples on board, the rest were Aussies (Aussies are fun). Highly recommend.
We took the RM from Vancouver to Banff a couple of months ago and it was an incredible experience. Definitely recommend to anyone considering it. Would love to see you review the new RM USA route as we're considering that for our next trip 😊
Hello! Your last two weeks of railroad videos has been fantastic! The Alaska Railroad journey has been on my bucket list for years, but the Rocky Mountaineer trip has been added to the list. Keep the train adventures coming!
I have done every railway line in Canada (except Churchill). That includes 4 different Rocky Mountaineers (they do 5 different routes, the fifth goes to Seattle). I have also done all FIVE railways in Alaska. Done every railway in Britain, Ireland, Norway (except Narvik), Portugal, and most of Europe, plus some AMTRAK routes in the US. Any questions, just ask. Kind regards, from London, England.
Will ? You have taken us on some amazing train rides over the past weeks but this was by far the best. I never knew how beautiful Canada is until I watched this video. The scenery is awesome. What a spectacular train journey. The train I thought was the cleanest compared to all other trains you’ve travelled on. Oh and let’s not forget the food which looked so good. I could have eaten the salmon 🍣 and the beef 🥩 steak. This train treck through Canada was so gorgeous it made my heart pound. Well done Will this was fantastic.
I'm loving this trend of train videos, man. Please, continue :). Also, maybe a trip to Australia so you can do the Ghan or the Indian Pacific? Just a thought, heh.
Hi Will, brought back memories. We did Vancouver - Banff 8 years ago in August 2014! Boy how time flies, seems like yesterday. You didn't mention that the train splits at Kamloops - although your trip did add the extra carriages from the Jasper portion whereas our "lost" the Jasper connection at Kamloops. I'd love to do it again, but age and costs will probably not allow it.
As much as I love the flights, really enjoying these train reviews and opening up more options of things to do! Oh yeah usual weekly Sunday vibe check in 😉
I just discovered your channel. Watch it while in the tub and get out feeling like I’ve just travelled first class to gorgeous destinations (always slightly smelling of caviar) You have brilliantly weaved a travel show with a foodie one. It’s just great. Keep it up!
Superb report as always, really enjoyed it; keep up the good work - and always good to see you're actually really enjoying yourself making your vids. Thanks!
One of our favorite journeys. Last autumn, We did the round trip from Vancouver to Banff and back again….with several days in the Canadian National Parks in between (Lake Louise and Jasper) It was glorious
I was just talking to my wife about this train on our drive from Calgary to Vancouver, something I think will be doing in the near future, thanks for the video. The drive from Vancouver to the interior of BC is just as incredible, following the Fraser River. It truly is a beautiful place to live.
This trip would be a thin slice of heaven for me, I'm an American who loves Canada with all her heart, and hopefully someday I'll travel as much of the Great White North as possible
@Ken P Fine. If you book Red Leaf Class (instead of Gold Leaf Class, shown in the video) you can walk to the buffet / cafe car, buy what you want over the counter, and take it back to your seat. This option is a lot cheaper too.
The outdoor platform is only available for GoldLeaf passengers. It is ideal for photographers as your images are without window glare and distortion. I took this trip about 10 years ago. When we pulled into Kamloops, we were greeted by a horse and rider wearing western clothes and cowboy hat. Many of my relatives worked in the railroad (primarily Canadian National and VIA). So it was great to see the spiral tunnels (an amazing engineering feet) and the location of the "Last Spike".
We did this trip about 15 years ago, phenomenal experience. We were 4 hours late getting in to Vancouver, but the wine and beer flowed to make it "party time".
Man you seem like such a fun person, and your adventures have been so much fun to watch- hopefully I could take one of these trips myself sometime, but in the mean time- your shots are amazing
As someone who is lucky enough to have been to both Banff and Vancouver I'm incredibly jealous of this train ride! It looks astoundingly beautiful and service appeared Top Notch. I've been loving these train videos.
Wow ❤ I have lived in the Rockies watching the Rocky Mountaineer go by my family home my whole life. I had no idea it was a luxury train though! They probably honked the horn for you and your filming😊 PS you went right past my home. I live close to Jasper ❤ It sure is beautiful. Thank you for all of your kinds words.
What an awesome experience you had! I live in Calgary, just up the road from Banff and always love seeing scenery from the gorgeous Rocky mountains!! I loved the way you described every detail and glad you got to come to Alberta/B.C. to experience it for yourself!! 💖🇨🇦🚈⛰️🏔️☺️
I really love your videos, they are so well edited and informative! I do hope you are able to review the railways in the Swiss Alps and Japan some time in the future.
That was a great insight into the Rocky Mountaineer - thank you for creating and sharing. I am so glad that they have outdoor observation decks for the visitors - that fresh mountain air is unbeatable :) I am glad to see this vicariously through you - personally I doubt I would ever do it due to the cost and living here already. Very similar scenery is accessible to me in other ways. Your other rail journeys are so inspiring - I would consider an epic higher end rail trip in another part of the world that is less known to me but which also has great scenery. I saw the Peruvian one, and will watch for others. It thought it was unfortunate that the one to Istanbul does not offer more choices in terms of amenities.
Happy I found your channel mate. Not being biggest train journeys fan (always prefer to drive as I can stop wherever and whenever I want) but Rocky Mountaineer is on my bucket list. Awesome video. Very informative. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for doing this video. Brought back amazing memories when I did this trip (all be it from Vancouver to Banff) as a part of my Canada Alaska tour with the amazing Australian Company APT. Makes me so want to go again.
Wow! What a trip! Reminds me of my trip from Banff but via Prince Rupert and Prince George to catch an Alaskan ferry onwards. Not as luxurious as this, but truly memorable.
Another fantastic train vlog will! Really good stuff and ticked off everything you need to know before taking it! Looks so amazing the views do and congrats on 303k subs!
I've made this trip many times, but long ago when it was part of the CPR's regular passenger service. How times have changed! You had to take a return trip to see everything because it was non-stop and you slept on the train during the night portion of the trip. One time the train was stuck in the mountains all day while they cleared an avalanche from the tracks. I loved every minute of it. It was also a very cheap way to travel. The price of the new train was really shocking to me.
thank you for reviewing this epic journey! as a Canadian, you have seen so much of my country that i have not yet explored yet, but one day i hope that i will follow your "tims". thank you so much and see you in the next video!
@Hedge Hog My sincere condolences for the tragic loss of your wife. Having lost a son, I know how that feels. My mother also brought me up, as a single parent. Of course your family comes first. I know being disciplinarian and nurse maid is a hard ask for every single parent, but you will be amazed how well you did. You will find as time goes on, your family becomes a much tighter for a shared loss. I am sure your children admire you greatly.
@Vic Sams i wish i could not leave it until that stage in life, but being a single father of 4 children, and saving up for their college and or university funds at the moment is my number one priority along with paying everyday expenses. my wages get me by, so it's everyday life for me and the kids. 3 sons and one daughter. she's the youngest. 7 years of age. sons are between 13-15 years of age now and all they want is tech gadgets..oh well..such is life..enjoy your trips while you can and when i get the opportunity when it happens, i will be following your footsteps and do such wonderful things if time and money shall be. thank you sir for your kind words as always and cheers. btw, the wife died from a brain tumor and she didn't have much in savings nor her family, but they do help out as much as they can. take care my new friend.
@Hedge Hog Sorry if this sounds melancholy; but I recommend you don't leave it till retirement beckons. Lots of people do. Sadly, not everyone gets there, or maintains the health and wealth to do it. I live by the motto, live every day as if it was my last. No point getting old and having regrets. The work will still be there long after we have gone. Enjoy life while you are able. All the best.
I really enjoy your videos, and I was so excited to see you traveling in my home province! The Rocky Mountaineer has been on my bucket list for a long time and your review encouraged me to make that trip a priority. I am loving the train content you've been doing lately btw! Lots of cool looking experiences to be had.
There are 5 different Rocky Mountaineer routes ! I have done 4 of them, plus every railway line in Canada (except Churchill), including the Yukon and (Newfoundland and) Labrador. Plus all 5 railways in Alaska. Every railway in Britain, Ireland, Portugal, Norway (except Narvik), most of Europe and some of America. Any questions, just ask. Kind regards from London, England.
We took this train as the last leg of our cross Canada train journey back in 2014. Gold leaf too. So wish it was longer than 2 days. We were pampered. Thx for sharing your wonderful experience.
Another two day scenic rail journey I think you would enjoy would be from Zermatt to Milan the long way via the Glacier Express, the Bernina Express and the Tirano to Milan line with an overnight in the charming Swiss resort town of St. Moritz. I did it this May, and while the scenery is spectacular any time of year, it is definitely better to do it during the longer months where you are in daylight for the entire journey. Definitely do first class on the Bernina, but for the Glacier Express they have what is called Excellence Class, which is above First. I didn’t take that because it’s the one class that isn’t covered by the EurailPass I had been using the entire trip.
This is awesome! You should check out the Rocky Mountaineer's US train. It runs between Denver, Colorado and Arches National Park (near Moab, Utah). There's an overnight stop in Glenwood Springs, Colorado.
I’m from a small city in northern Canada 🇨🇦 about 8 hrs or so away from Banff! Glad you enjoyed B.C, it really is beautiful and to see it from train is one of the best ways
Hi Will, new subscriber here. I came across your channel and absolutely love your videos. I don’t travel much but if I ever do I really like learning everything that you’re showing. They are fun and informative and I really enjoy them. I also subscribe to your friend James Channel as well. I have been binge watching all your videos for the last week! 👍😊
I've been fortunate enough to have taken this trip 3 times. Although it was opposite direction from Vancouver to Calgary. It helps to know someone who worked there. They were given one free gold leaf package for 2 every year. I got 3 free trips. It was some years ago on the older trains, which quite frankly were probably more comfortable than these newer ones look. I took their Christmas train one year which was pretty cool.
Half expected you to be sharing a room with Matthew 😂 absolutely beautiful scenery !!! And the food looks amazing 😋 but the lack of privacy is a turn off, at least for me. Considering the cost and the fact you don't actually sleep on the train, it's really a glorified coach class trip so it's a pass from me. But different strokes for different folks 😊
Fun journey/video! This took me back to 40+ years ago as a kid from Calgary, where we could take the "Dayliner" through the spiral tunnels. I still remember that little trip (the photos help).
Thanks all for watching. Next week i'll be taking The Ocean, overnight sleeper train across Eastern Canada. Can't wait to share. Do let me know down below any train or plane trips you'd like to see in future videos :)
Mr Trendy do you keep in touch with your new friends from these trips?
you did panic lolol
hope you'll do "The Canadian" as well! That seems to be such an incredible trip

@Trek Trendy Can we see economy class videos on planes, and trains, and even boats? thank you.

@Trek Trendy please do more plane videos
The view looks incredible, really cool to see the locals waving at the train as it rolls into town

you must do this, whether by car or train. Either way - you are right.in.the.middle.of.it. So awesome and humbling. Best to you!!
Another great video Will! I'm personally really loving all the train videos you have been doing recently, so keep up the good work!

The train is so beautiful and spotless clean. As an introvert, I don’t think i’d like the socialising part of the journey 😳
@NBAfanboy Okay. So.
@Vic Sams “I genuinely wish you luck conquering your fear”
@NBAfanboy I never mentioned the word 'fear'. There is nothing wrong with liking your own company.
@Vic Sams being an introvert doesn't come from fear...
I enjoy how you film so to make us aware how it would feel if we were there. Even showing us how you navigate stairs, etc. Good job!
Did this years ago and they have considerably upgraded every facet of the journey. Very enjoyable.
Wow ❤ I have lived in the Rockies watching the Rocky Mountaineer go by my family home my whole life. I had no idea it was a luxury train though!
They probably honked the horn for you and your filming😊
PS you went right past my home.
What an amazing looking trip! I am Canadian and have wanted to do this for some time and really glad you posted. Can't wait to see the Ocean!
I really love your videos, they are so well edited and informative! I do hope you are able to review the railways in the Swiss Alps and Japan some time in the future.
That was a great insight into the Rocky Mountaineer - thank you for creating and sharing. I am so glad that they have outdoor observation decks for the visitors - that fresh mountain air is unbeatable :)
I am glad to see this vicariously through you - personally I doubt I would ever do it due to the cost and living here already.
Thanks for the memories Wills. Did this trip Eastbound a couple years ago and must say I’d love to do it again! It was a FLAWLESS experience 😉👍🏻
A perfect trip. Everything looked wonderful, the train was gorgeous, the views were astonishing and the food looked delicious.
Thank you Trek Trendy for another well produced video, the scenery / landscape was breathtaking.
I have rode on this train myself, it was a fantastic experience and I’m so glad you showed it to everyone. Great work m8.
Thank you for yet another fabulous train trip! Loved every minute of it!
Once again a phenomenal trip ! Gorgeous views , couldn’t spot the deer though !! Thanks once again for a wonderful adventure!
I absolutely loved the video. The views were fantastically captured. It looks like an awesome experience
Muito bom 👍 Belas imagens!!! Parabéns!🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
thank you for reviewing this epic journey! as a Canadian, you have seen so much of my country that i have not yet explored yet, but one day i hope that i will follow your "tims". thank you so much and see you in the next video!
@Vic Sams in time my friend..in time..i'm not at that stage to do such things..but in time..thank you again sir. take care and cheers again.
@Hedge Hog My pleasure. I think you will enjoy exploring your fine country by train. I know I did.
I feel like you've satisfied my wanderlust during covid by sharing these videos. Thank you for all the vacation ideas you've provided me!
What an awesome video! I've always wanted to take this train, and now I know it's worth it! Keep up the great work👏👏👏
Always fun time waving to those that come in on the Rocky Mountaineer. One day I'll ride this train ... one day.
PS: Kamloops isn't so bad you know.
Trek Trendy your videos are amazing!! I watch them all the time!
Loving your TRAIN VIDEOS.
Looks like you’ve found your groove man!!!
I’d even watch episodes 30-60 minutes long.
Keep up the awesome work!!! 😁👍🏼👍🏼
The production quality of your videos is outstanding ! I've got into the habit of watching one when I'm having breakfast - a great start to the day
I really enjoy your videos, and I was so excited to see you traveling in my home province!
After seeing you and Downie do this trip...this is totally now on my bucket list!
As always Will such a relaxing trip, and feeling included in this fun travel!
We took this train as the last leg of our cross Canada train journey back in 2014. Gold leaf too. So wish it was longer than 2 days. We were pampered. Thx for sharing your wonderful experience.
A perfect trip. Everything looked wonderful, the train was gorgeous, the views were astonishing and the food looked delicious.
yes but trains are better in Russia I just went on one
Loved this Will, my favourite train video to date! Can’t wait to see your next adventure 🤗
The scenery is absolutely amazing. Mountains are majestic. Wonderful job Will! Cheers 🥂
It wouldn't be a Trek Trendy Train video without a heart-racing run alongside the train! :)
As a British person living in Canada not far from Banff would love to do this sometime thanks for taking us along with you
As a British person who has travelled on every railway line in Canada, except Churchill, regards from London, England !
I can't get enough of these train travel videos! I'm freaking addicted!!
I traveled on this last month but from Vancouver to Banff, amazing journey, scenes were unbelievable! Banff is the most amazing place I’ve been to
Love this! Looks so refined and organized.
Brilliant! You have done a brilliant job of sharing your travels on our beloved Rock Mountaineer! Cheers, from a traveler and Vancouverite!
I’m from a small city in northern Canada 🇨🇦 about 8 hrs or so away from Banff! Glad you enjoyed B.C, it really is beautiful and to see it from train is one of the best ways
Banff and Lake Louise are amazingly beautiful places. I love that part of the world and need to go back.
I absolutely love your videos! You have inspired me and my girlfriend to explore train travel. Keep up the great work!
I love your videos. Very inspiring and great for escapism! Xx
Your channel is incredible man. Great commentary and beautiful footage!
I'd love it if you also did the trip in the Silver Class to show comparisons.
Love your videos! Travelling with train is so enjoyable especially when you can see what's happening through the roof of the train!!
These train videos are awesome. Always fun to see new train designs
As a Thai with casual overnight trains, I'm really impressed by Canada's rocky mountaineer.
The trip is amazing, unforgettable
Let’s help Will get 500k subs since he deserves it for the amazing content he creates!💯💯💯
🙏🏼🙏🏼 thanks mate
Amazing experience and spectacular scenery!! Definitely on my bucket list
I love trains and these videos have been a treat . Keep bringing them. :)
Fun journey/video! This took me back to 40+ years ago as a kid from Calgary, where we could take the "Dayliner" through the spiral tunnels. I still remember that little trip (the photos help).
I would just like to say how much I appreciate you videos, they are perfect for after a long day of work. Keep it up!
