I routinely get 20+ MPG when driving 75-80 MPH. I'm surprised a lot of people aren't getting the same. I will say that the truck is sensitive to acceleration. When I hold it steady I get great MPG even without cruise control.
In Canada, my best was 30 mpg imperial (highway driving). I have the 2022 Tundra Limited Hybrid. There's alot of perimeters that are dependent on fuel efficiency. Outside temperature, wind, driving habits, whether you have the heat or AC on, etc... l even noticed better fuel economy when it's lightly raining. I babied the throttle from start and gradually increase to 80 kph. Then I set the cruise. I also had it in Normal mode. Economy mode is better for city driving. I could literally see the engine shutting off and running on electric at 80 kph. Then it decides when to go the other way. Most don't believe me but you don't need too. I'm impressed with this technology.
Have you tried resetting the eco gage? It could just be low from the initial "breaking in" of the truck if you haven't reset it recently. I usually do it right after I fill the tank up. It gives you a more accurate representation of mileage. I have also heard people say they get better gas mileage on normal mode rather than eco mode. Lastly, there is a switch panel to the left of the steering wheel, from there you can toggle the automatic braking when parking or hooking up a trailer. I just wish you could set the sensitivity rather than just turning it on or off.
One thing I've noticed, when towing a trailer w/ a 7 pin connection it disables the reverse auto braking, but not with a 4 pin. I have the non-hybrid and get 15 mpg city, on the highways I stay between 60-70 and I would say I get 20-25 on flat ground, but yea as soon there's hills it gets killed. And of course getting this big truck up to speed from a stop is a mpg killer.
Stand still idling, warming up your truck will get calculated into your total mpg. Try to reset and see what you get when you don’t have the engine idle. I bet the number will be much improved.
Try not using eco mode to see if it improves your MPG (use normal). Lots of people say it gets better MPG than eco mode. I get mine next week so I’ll see then
Like you I change my oil at 5000 miles. I’ve got a 2012 Tacoma with 210k miles and it’s never had any problems. I’m thinking about getting a Tundra as my next truck and I was worried about dealerships not changing my oil because of their claims of 10k mile life.
do not do the 10k mile oil change ive heard of peoples camrys and such needing new engines at 100k miles from that theres a video of a toyota tech talking about it
I paid for an oil change at 1k and have paid for Toyota to do them at 5k. I'll do them after 36k. When you go to sell a truck it looks good on the report to have the dealer change it.
Smooth driving in town I get 17MPG and 21 running the speed limit (obeying the posted speed LIMIT) I get 20+. Long live the 5.7L V8!!! I enjoy my three cup holders up front. 2 drinks and one spit cup. Enjoy my rear bumper I step on to get into the bed with the tailgate down. Long live the second gen Tundra!!
@D H nice. Sorry to speak quickly without reference. I have owned 3 2nd generation. Currently a 19trd pro, and 2010 limited as fleet vehicles. I would love to stop having my employees cost so much in gas. Never seen anything close to those numbers. My 3rd gen trd pro gets about those numbers if I'm tame. Your statements just blow my mind and I can't seem to relate in any way. Happy holidays to you as well kind sir.
Kane Z, I'm sorry you think I am lying. I have absolutely no reason to lie, plus (more importantly) it is wrong to lie. I wish you lived close by (I'm in NC) so I could verify these numbers to you. By the way, I don't go by the truck's computer for MPG, I do it the old fashion way, however the truck computer is pretty darn close. My truck is a 2019 crew cab 2 wheel drive. I use 87 octane fuel as recommended by the owner's manual. Merry Christmas to you and your family. The Lord is good.
Hey I have mine in eco mode once I'm on the highway, but normal to sport on the regular, and I see between 17 and 20 mpg and I have a heavy right foot. What I didn't say is that I changed out my air filters for the TRD version, which give me an additional 2 mpg and noticed power improvements. To get the best deals go to any online dealership sales site and find them for discount and have your local dealer match the price. I promise you, you'll no be disappointed, the tech at the dealership explained to me that turbo engines needs to breath and this is the first step in making that happen, please don't take my word for it and try it for yourself less than $100 investment. Enjoy and please report back. I have to limited trd offroad 2wd if that helps..
10K is for synthetic oil. Go read some UOA (Used Oil Analysis) where you can send your used oil off to a lab and have it analyzed. 10K is fine for synthetic and the analysis shows that.
Toyota’s total bullshit 10K oil change interval is to get you past the factory warranty period . After that expect the piston rings to burn oil because they are worn! That turbo V6 definitely won’t last a million miles like the I-Force 5.7 Did numerous times & examples !

My Corolla has 1,000,048 1993 and still rolling they can't build highway fast enough in front of it and gets 42.5 miles per gallon with the 5 speed 😂😂 sorry bout your luck. Hell you can rent a truck at Menards or Lowes and save a hell of a lot of money 🤑💲💲 shit I leave my boat on the water at the lake money in my pocket and bank.
It’s not even broken in yet I would not give an opinion until you have it for a few years I get 19.5 with my jeep city or Hwy no red light 💤 the trick is to keep the rpm under 2,000 rpm ideally 1,500 34.4” tires with 411 gears If I go 75-80 my mileage drops to 16
I own 2014 limited crewcab 92k miles lifted. I think to enjoy that truck better you should spend a little bit extra to lift it with bigger tires, guys.🙏🏽🙏🏽🤸🤸🤾♂️🙋🙋🤜🤛

I even took a picture of my dash (in mode showing average MPG) and emailed it to Tundra Dude 34.

21 mpg in the city on my 2023 4X2 hybrid Limited Tundra. Thanks for the update
ALWAYS change oil at max 5,000 miles or 6 months. Oil is cheaper than an engine unless you want to start burning oil after warranty is over.
Good honest review. Thank you very much.
My imax w k@ n gets 22 mpg! Might want to check your tire pressure and air filter!

What kind of filters?
What’s your payload sticker showing on the door?
Obviously it's going to have more power since it's the hybrid
Have you had any wind noise issues at highway speeds?
Yes on the driver side.
Where did you buy your bed cover? I need to buy one for my 2023 Tundra!
Thanks !

That's a beautiful Rosary my friend.
My Ford F150 3.5 eco gets 24 mpg....
What kind of fuel ⛽️ do they take !?
@Toyotalife Toyotalife Regular as in '87 Octane' or higher (without any changes in altitude)?
Regular.
Sparks toyota is selling the TRD suspension lift kit for 2350 dollars on sale...part number PTCCY-34000. Use the 5% discount code and it will be 2350$
That's funny 😂😂
i wont change oil at 10k. Its too much
5k is the max
@Garrett Would agree...full synthetic is 10,000 (as much as I don't like that number or used to it from previous Yotas).
