Fight on the land or on a secluded beach!! They have plenty of those in Africa and would both give them an advantage while not having them be in the middle of fucking enemy territory Like trying to fight piranhas while skinny dipping in the Nile River
That is literally the point of the scene. To show us how serious Shuri's vengeance was and how dangerous it was getting. She's not gonna think clearly at that state
One huge thing that's becoming blatantly obvious with these franchise films/TV shows is that the people who write and produce them don't have much real-world experience of a lot of the things they're putting in their product. Soooo many flaws & inconsistencies.
Imagine being the "strongest" nation on the planet and yet you choose who controls your entire country without question based on who can beat who in an ankles deep of water 💀
So what's a much better way of choosing the head of state? Going to the first-born male child of a random unelected family who just happens to be in that position? Great idea genius
Just watched the film. The main problem I just cannot get over is that the wakandans, the most intelligent & advanced humans on earth, bring weapons designed for ground battles to a naval fight. They had the technology and resources to build the most lethal anti-under water weapons like torpedoes & depth charges but no, for the sake of plot convenience (or stupid script writing) you never see them upgrading their weapons to address their battle needs. SMH.
the only possible explanation I can think of is because they wanna show off their tribe's hi-tech spears and energy shield blankets like some yeezys they are so damn proud of
@supervegon How did they make a huge ship in a couple of weeks? With the resources they have, it'd be just as easy. And yes, Namor is strong but Shuri had the suit this time and everyone else is battle ready too. If they tried to, they could take him down easily with a combination of a helicarrier and some smaller helicopters ( in case he tries to attack from below). So you lost round 2 as well. Thanks for playing again, unless you want to get humiliated a third time in which case feel free to respond to me again.
@Ashcool playing what? An easy game? While the rest of the army cant reach, nothing can stop Namur once he's up there He can bring it down by himself, none of them are as good in the sky as namor is He's literally a flying tank, and with his weapon being pure vibranium, meaning it's alot stronger then the resources that they have, he would shred through that entire helicarrier within minutes And how were they going to create a helicarrier in a couple weeks? Don't remember if I said this before But flying in the air to fight Namor is stupid, as stupid as fighting him on the ground or the sea Either way unless you isolate him in a dessert, which they did, your screwed The plan they made barely work And the plan you made is just as dumb, if not dumber
@supervegon You TRIED to shoot down ONE idea the I mentioned and that too unsuccessfully. Flying would have been much more effective than what they actually did. If they flew attacked from air, only Namor can reach them. By attacking them in one huge ship, they left themselves be vulnerable and the Talokans can now attack them from all sides. So flying in a helicarrier type thing, while maybe the weakest among the plans i mentioned, is still better than the one they used in the movie. Thanks for playing.
I'm sorry. Wasn't the entire point of the first Black Panther movie that T'Challa comes to realize that Killmonger was right about Wakanda's isolation and hoarding of vibranium was doing more harm to the world than good? T'Challa learns that, despite that extreme measures taken, Killmonger just wanted to have Wakanada see the error of their ways and he honors that by opening Wakanda to the world. And this movie begins with them just backtracking all of that.
It was never good lol overhyped super hero dribble the best was iron man 1 and than only the first half as the bad guy was terrible and I lost interest as soon as he escaped the middle east
Has anyone else noticed that whenever a new female character is shoehorned into a story, the writers put a lampshade over it by having another established character say "I like her." They use this exact same ploy every. Single. Time.
I haven't seen some of the films and I watched a lot of them on the tv in the background while paying attention to other stuff, what other times aside from in infinity war with captain marvel did this happen? 2 times is definitely 2 too many and it's not subtle at all, but I haven't heard it happen other than those 2.
You remember when Tony stark needed basically millions of dollars worth of tech from his own super advanced weapon provided by terrorist and then also raw material and a forge, and equipement plus months "just" to make his first iron man suit, which is now seen as a bunch of scraps/would be treated as a mini boss or strong fodder enemie in any other show? Thats taking into account Tony being born rich af, his dad being howard stark and having years worth of experience and knowledge, plus the practice (which would have only been doable because of his budget)... But now, a random student can just make sci fi tech from microwaves. Yes, because as we all know, if you rearenge a toaster in the right way, it'll become a quantum computer.
@Oniplus couple things I see here I can answer Oh and i decided to respond again because I reread your comment and decided "oh wait, I know the answer to that" lol 1: Tony stark built his first Ironman suit in a cave with a box of scraps and one of his rockets This took him an extended period of time even with the help of a kidnapped scientist Now even though he had a single rocket, and barely nothing, he still created the arc reactor Now, let's say tony stark had, I dont know, none of his crazy almost unlimited amount of money, but access to garages or junkyards with hundreds of cars, engines, and other disposable technologies, along with enough money to buy some shit from the store He wouldn't have just made an iron man suit, he would have made 100 of them Now riri, with 10 times the resources he had, made a barely functional suit that she could barely move in, it was barely a suit it was more like a seat, all she could do was move her arm, and direct where she flew, making it more like a strike drone but more dangerous, and even the weapon that she had, still wasn't anything but an oversized taser But then, she gets access to wakandian technology, and an ai made by shuri, so not only does she have access to unlimited resources from lne of the most advanced technologies seen in the mcu, but she also got access to an ai made by shuri, who is debatably as smart or even smarter then Tony stark That's not even counting the amount of time she more then likely had to train the navigation system and control her sense of balance, since they had time to do those things And yes, considering where she was, her databank was probably alien to Tony when he first made the arc reactor And judging by the fact that she had far more superior resources then tony, why is it such a stretch that she would make something better, since it's already confirmed she's a genius Answer me, I'll wait 2: no it doesn't, especially if we're going by the narrative that a teenager shouldn't be able to do anything close to what stark can do. Peter being able to hack his technology makes absolutely no sense no matter what way you spin it And I'll relent to the point about the cures, but that does not however excuse the fact that Peter beat Dr strange in his own dimension, using math And yeah, he probably did need to take data from tonys many many things, I'll have to relent this point to you, I'm pulling blanks 3: the icing problem I get, I have a problem with that to, so atleast we agree on that But the repulsor technology is barely even that, it's Like a cannon, or like I said, an oversized taser Now the oxygen thing, that was adressed, moreso then even the iron man movie did(i think), she ended up passing out and free falling down and almost falling into the ocean And your point about her flying perfectly fine after, Tony did the exact same thing The only difference between those 2 scenes is that Tony had an icing problem, while riri had an oxygen problem Tony didn't have a problem with oxygen, and riri didn't have an icing problem Which might have something to do with the fact that their 2 different suits Iron man had a full fledged armor, but riri was attached to a glorified jetpack, meaning she probably didn't have the icing priblem like Tony did And the reason I say that is because when his suit froze, it wasn't his feet that froze, not the place that was excelling him upwards But the place where it drew power, which caused it to malfunction, however riri, having a different type of armor, didn't have the same problem Riri's design was basic, barely functional in comparison to Tony who not only made a far batter suit in his first attempt, but still had a superior armor when he made his second And the repulsor tech, once again, she made a big ass taser, literally all it was and could do was blow up a plane, while Tony makes microscopic missles that can blow up tanks and mountain ranges, but let's please badger riris energy based repulsor even though their five years in the future and have more then likely made advances in technology And I've already said this but, her being in wakanda with access to unlimited amounts of vibranium, wakandas tech, and an advanced ai when she already made a bootleg iron man suit more then makes up for that fact Anything else?
@supervegon oh we do remember and we have a lot to say to your statements : first, Riri's character's developments that are the problems, from the very beginning, she went straight to developing some ultra high tech stuff from nothing burgers(arc reactor, super AI, repulsor jets, all made from junk without the access of technologies) in her spare time just after watching ironman on internet or something, that's literally underestimating Tony to the point of making what he had to went through to make mark 2 in ironman 1 as something like a joke both emotionally and knowledge wise, are you telling me she flew her own satellite for her AI to be online 24/7 on her suit and to access data on her database? or are you telling me that incomplete suit have massive databank packed that not even Tony's mark 2 can do? oh maybe I should ask about how did she even get the power to charge her arc reactor from an apartment, enough for her to fly for extended period of time? go on, answer me, I'm waiting second, what Peter did made more sense because he hacked the already existing tech and he's definitely took some datas from stark's tech in order to learn many, many things, oh and you probably forgot peter have the thing he got from stark's jet that can make any materials, powered by Tony's latest arc reactor to cure Otto, Norman, and Max, not to mention when the device got destroyed and the arc reactor was stolen, there are practically 2 more Peters helping him to develop the rest of the cures, so what's your point? third, wdym she was already in a place full of advanced technologies when she built her mark 2? they first found her in a fucking apartment and she already made her own "mark 1" complete with repulsor tech and somehow icing-problem-free suit that doesn't even cover her whole body that can also literally keep functioning no problem even after flying higher than Tony's mark 2 did(the only thing she had to worry about was oxygen level, like wtf, you already solved that problem if you can reach higher altitude as Tony's mark 2 without losing too much breath on yourself, that height is cold as fuck and deprived of necessary oxygen to even keep your brain functioning properly), that in itself is already much, much better than mark 2 in every way, especially the weapons being energy based repulsors instead of jet thruster repulsor in Tony's mark 2, the one she developed in wakanda is already her "mark 2" if you don't know yet and her ironheart mark 2 is already at the level of warmachine mark 6 which is quite a leap that not even Tony can do in a span of few weeks of her stay in Wakanda, don't you think? I have even more questions as to why you even think that was okay in the first place, I am genuinely even more confused than you
Killmonger was in a condition to be healed from that injury. He chose to just die. Also why wouldn't the suit be upgraded beyond what the previous could do. We saw in the first movie that Shuri makes the suits stronger when she makes new ones, why wouldn't she include healing?
M'Baku should be the next Black Panther. Imagine how BEASTLY a suit would look on him, how much power it would project. He arm-wrestled Shuri without consuming the flower.
I think he will. That was the whole point of the scene at the end, Shuri doesn't turn up to the challenge because she's not bothered and he becomes the new leader
@DesertBlade18 it's always been like that bro, masculine black man is the threat in this industry. Now we as black man we have to look up to Shuri as our leader and Super Hero, no disrespect to her but we need man to lead our heroic movies man.
@Kwaito Axe Mchithwa my thoughts exactly, I'm not hating on Shuri but her body type is small and thin compared to Namur.. Movies is all about make believe and suspending your reality. The final fighting scene was complete BS as even if Shuri had the herb she's not a match physically. M'Baku in another hand is a beast even without taking the herb, imagine after taking it. The whole movie was a plot hole, they should have made M'Baku the black panther then use the final scene to establish that the next black panther is T'Chala Jr. This movie apparently was against masculine black man
Namor's goal, an allied not-Atlantis and Wakanda, was a good goal to have. However, his execution to get there made zero sense. I suppose he figured he could just bully Wakanda into submission, but that kind of goes out the window when you start murdering members of the royal family for no reason. Also, declaring your ultimate goal of wiping out all humans does not sell well to people who are, well, humans. If he would have just said "We are hidden now and we would like to stay hidden, can you help us? In exchange for your help we can hang out and trade and stuff. Sound good?" Suri probably would have agreed. Then he goes and kills a bunch of Wakandans and the Queen to seal the deal? Not a great plan.
@Kit I don't think they are. I saw zero evidence that they were any more technologically advanced than when they went under. The only hint were the face masks that allowed them to breathe air. Even then, I think that was more of a plot device than anything. They were strong and fast because they were all on the black panther herb. Then again, a lot of that was shot so darkly I had trouble seeing anything.
If the king is dead, according to the first film, there must be a competition to establish the new king. Or can anyone challenge the queen in combat and win the title of ruler of Wakanda? I'm really confused right now.
Mbaku should take over wakanda ,just until Prince t,challah son is ready. Shuri needs to continue being a scientist. Riri was not an impressive character, she dont need to come back. Use the vibranium and upgrade the weapons!!!!
@Deonte nah, only one emotionally invested to any large degree is you. It's a movie that is watched by many. I shall judge it how I please and how it presents itself to the audience. Put your blind media chugging/ignoring critical thinking somewhere else.
@Mr. Alfredo I'm not talking about overall themes. I'm talking about AAA studios pretending a woman of 145 pounds could take on a man over 220 that is jacked. It's a joke, in any situation. Even Bruce Lee knew weight and size matter, especially in great physical shape. He says as much when asked about fighting Mike Tyson. He laughed and basically said "are you serious? He would destroy me! Look at my size compared to him". I'm not hating just to hate. I'm calling out complete nonsense that will get somebody hurt. It's one thing to say you have a strong female lead. Valeria from Conan, Beatrix Kiddo, Jackie Brown, Lady Snowblood, etc. Are all strong women. But you wouldn't see any of them take on a dude twice their size in close hand to hand and just win because Strong Woman. That's dumb. You can have strong women without making it like they do.
You know, I used to think that Shuri becoming Black Panther would be cool to see simply because she’s so not suited for the role so she’d need a huge character arch. The trouble is, the writers aren’t good enough to pull it off.
and EVEN more unforgivable was how the QUEEN of wakanda who has decades of experience as a ruler risked going to war with namor by demanding he hand over riri who she never even MET before. that simply isnt realistic. no president or government or king in the real world would EVER risk going to war and putting their people's lives at risk for a stranger they never met
the writing for her was all over the place. she said she wanted to "burn the world" after t'challa died from natural illness that wasn't anyone's fault. and she fucking jeopardized her entire nation to protect riri who she barely knows. and what was the result? she lost her mother. yeah she fucking deserved that. there's plenty of idealistic children who thinks they can "save everyone" in films but when someone that naive is part of royalty or in a position of power they become RESPONSIBLE for other people's lives and they have to go through a hard wake-up call on how cruel reality is. but we NEVER see her regret her actions or blame herself, instead she does a complete 180 and risk even more lives to get revenge. wtf
Shuri should have had a Tony and Peter vibe with Riri. Maybe, Shuri is now working in one of their outreach centers and can't bring herself to go back to Wakanda and Riri is her annoying but brilliant assistant. She has to be the T'Challa to a new Shuri. This way, you can also develop Riri as a character. The pieces are all right there. The writers are just not smart enough to put them together.
Great review. I thought this movie was awful. So many plot holes. Why would Namor need the help of Wakanda to fight the US who has no Vibranium, then get into a war with Wakanda??? It would have been great to see the Winter Soldier in this movie instead of the 19 year old scientist/student whose existence completely disrespects Tony Stark
Riri doesn't have to do with Tony Stark. Everyone keeps bringing that stupid excuse when they r too completely different characters. the only thing they have in common is intelligence and using suits. It's not a disrespect to Tony Stark. Wakanda could help because even though Vibranium is strong, it can't make up the fact that the US for example, has nuclear weapons that can still wipe them all out. The US is huge, they couldn't bring it down that easily, its not a plot hole, you just need to be smart lol
I find it ridiculous that they call all the white characters "colonizers" in the film when wakanda was never colonized and wakanda never gave a damn that others African countries on its border were colonized , I mean, they could have helped them and stopped everything whenever they wanted.
@Ryan Stewart ah yes Because calling every white person a colonizer is perfectly correct right ? Just like I’d call every black person I see a criminal is also correct ? Just say you’re racist bruh and leave it at that.
@Ryan Stewart Well by your standard, nearly every country in the world should be called a colonizer. A lot of them wanted to colonize but got conquered instead. There's no point calling us a colonizer without calling most African nations colonizers but they don't. It would not make any sense for wakanda to consider us as colonizers when we haven't affected them in that way. Heck we haven't infected their friends in that way. And you can't say we have because they wouldn't be French if they stood by with superior technology and let their suppose your friends be colonized.
I really love you guys in the comments. You guys really have a problem with being called colonizers. And your reason is because wakanda wasn't colonized. Kml. I can only laugh. So let me get this straight. I can't call a murderer a murderer until I'm killed right. Or Better yet since I haven't stopped every murder that happens around me I can't call a murderer a murderer. You guys are complete jokes.
What saddens me the most's that this movie could've been great with a rewrite. I just want to say that Shure and Riri (?) could've worked if they were both really intelligent people, but in different fields: just like Tony and Banner; maybe Riri could help Shure synthesize the bullshit plant because of her knowledge of something, and they could work out their differences with science. But I guess Disney can't make a couple of decent characters and a cohesive plot anymore...
The characters were all very solid, the plot was confusing but enjoyable. That idea that you gave wouldn't make sense though. Riri's strength is technology, she couldn't do much about the plant when its a biology thing.
How dare you. Black woman don't need help they can do everything by themselves every time she says coloniser she gains 20 strength points and a revive.
I’m not gonna lie I’m perfectly content that have a plot to begin with given Chadwick Boseman’s death, when I saw the movie it didn’t make a lot of sense to me but I still found it enjoyable
@Peace maker yea… so he didn’t save anyone lol. Sounds like the Norse god didn’t do a very good job. And even then why does it matter? That’s such a weird point to try and point out 🙃
@The amazing Garbage The point I think he was trying to make was a blond guy had to save the most powerful African state and would have succeeded if he aimed for head but he didn’t because Mickey Mouse wanted billions of more dollars
One of the issues that I have with the MCU is the following: If everyone can become a hulk (smart hulk) with a blood transfusion from Bruce Banner, everyone can pilot an iron man suit, everyone can become black Panter with some herbs etc. etc., why not just creating few tens of thousands of super-hulk soldiers with an iron man suit and the agility of black Panter? Just in case another intergalactic threat comes along.
I have some questions too, but I did really enjoy it overall. Why is M'Baku still not worthy of being king? It has been established he has challenged for the throne multiple times but T Challa always beat him. T Challa isn't here to stop him, why did he never try to claim the throne years later? It almost seems right it go to him since he is already King of his own tribe within Wakanda. Why can't he be King of the entire Nation? How did Shuri survive being impaled? Killmonger with the powers of the heart shaped herb was stabbed in a similar manner and it literally inflicted a fatal injury he couldn't recover from. How is she not dead? How does Namor not see that just keeping Riri prisoner but allowing her to live as an immediate compromise? Even if she was let go to Wakanda, they would not be asking her to make Vibranium detectors either. Shuri is kind of a bad leader, her pursuit of vengeance definitely got people killed. And had she followed through and killed Namor, many of her best people would've died and it seemed like she was gonna do it.
@Ewokpilot 65 literaly it’s the same arc as the one T’Challa had in his first appearance in CW when he realized he was being consumed by his grief after the death of his father but I guess somehow it was fine then and now it’s stupid because it’s Shuri? 🙄
@Biblical Worldview I understood her surviving as a result of the BP suit stopping the bleeding, which you can see by how she pulls the spear out without any blood. Shuri has been a capable fighter, as we’ve seen in previous movies. That part shouldn’t have come as much of a surprise, particularly after she had the heart-shaped herb. Her being an extremely intelligent scientist is literally a character trait that half of the marvel cast has. Many of them are also capable fighters for no reason other than the fact that an action movie isn’t interesting without capable fighters to center your action around. You’re just looking for things to be upset about.
My main gripe was that they manufactured a new country Wakanda could go to war with, so they wouldn't disrupt the world order set up in the universe. I found that I didn't know who to root for, as there was actually no real conflict. It felt like someone starting a mass fight by accidentally walking into the person in front of them.
I bought it on iTunes…your review is very accurate. The movie wandered aimlessly for so long I stopped watching halfway through it. I believe it would have been an entirely different movie if Chadwick Boseman had lived…he was such a terrific actor.
Lol don’t you remember when Riri said that she built her first machine at the ripe old age of 3 after her step father gave her tools and let her figure it out 😂😂😂😂😂
We're also overlooking WHY the F did his mom inherit the kingdom? The first movie made it pretty darn clear that you had to fight to become the Wakanda ruler. Shit they even did it twice. Yet when he dies all the other men who have tried to claim the throne before just said NAhhhh she'll do fine.
@Squeaking Lion I know it’s like a thing to call out “the message™” in Drinker’s comments, but this movie was probably the only recent Marvel movie which didn’t really feel like it was doing that. The all-female cast felt pretty natural to me. With T’challa dead, the main players in Wakanda were Shuri, Ramona, and Okoye. It isn’t really a shock that they picked up the mantle in this movie. Riri is the only one who is introduced in this movie, but I think her weakness has less to do with them failing to develop a character in favor of sending the message™ and more them failing to make her a compelling character as a result of Marvel’s need to rehash old heroes. That’s certainly an issue, but a different one. She also just felt totally pointless to the plot of the movie, other than being a plot he was what Wakanda and Atlantis were fighting over. In that regard, she could literally have been an object and served the same exact purpose. As I said, though, that’s a different problem than Marvel throwing everything out the window to send the message™
@Girl Nettles Isn’t that just incorrect though? One of the last scenes in the movie is M’baku showing up to the ceremony to select a new ruler when everyone was expecting Shuri. He then becomes the new ruler of Wakanda.
I was trying not to laugh so hard in the cinema when they showed the final scene. So marvel doesn't want to recast Chadwick, but they get a female replacement for him AND a kid who has exactly the same name has him. This is so ridoculous that it would be better if marvel just recasted Chadwick's character.
She would naturally replace him just by being next in line for the throne and the mantle so what’s the big deal? Also, have you ever heard of anyone who is a Jr.? I promise that naming the kid exactly after his deceased father isn’t that crazy
You know, it's a shame. From the trailers I knew they were going to pull the "You think we're weak because our leader is dead but we are NOT! We are STRONG and INDEPENDENT, you white slavers!" angle with the speech, but from what I had imagined was going to happen, didn't. What I had hoped for was a movie about T'chala's friends and family all dealing with his death in different ways. I had expected that Namor's introduction would come as the KILLER of T'chala, or the man who held the cure for some disease he'd contracted and his demands of the Wakandans basically would leave them as an enslaved vassal state of Atlantis -- something that the Wakandans are *VERY* proud they never experienced during the age of imperialism. Imagine Wakanda going to their political and saying "Hey, our king is dying and this man holds the cure, he wants to enslave us for it. We could really use your help." and having them go "Ok, sure, we want more vibranium tho." and have this repeated with each nation, them getting turned down, and then when Wakanda brings the matter to the UN, they have no one who'll back their request for assistance. THIS could prompt an emotional, passionate speech about how Wakanda's strength is not diminished just because T'chala is dead or dying, that they are not in a position of weakness when they seek help, and that it is precisely BECAUSE of these attitudes that they keep to themselves. It can on to say that it was T'chala, specifically, who was making strides to change that. That it was T'chala who believed in an another way. That it was T'chala, who signed all those treaties to begin with, carefully reminding the nations of the world that as a genuine monarchy, the current leader is the one who dictates what policies they follow. *NO* deal T'chala has made need be recognized by the *NEXT* ruler of Wakanda. Remind them that saving T'chala is not only the morally right thing to do, but, the politically smart thing to do. Illustrate that Namor is starting with Wakanda because he knows that Wakanda *IS* strong, that it will be Wakanda's participation that will halt his genocide of the surface nations. That he *EXPECTS* them all to do *NOTHING* to help Wakanda, and that they are playing into his hand by being so selfish in another nation's time of need. It's like... Chadwick Boseman's death was probably the worst case scenario for the production of this film, but, making T'chala and Wakanda the *FOCUS* of the movie should have still been the priority. Making the movie about moving *ON* from loss, finding *STRENGTH* in it, would have been a good send off and set up dynamic new characters to take his place. This movie could have been about how unity is stronger than isolation. To show that *even* in death T'chala's hopes for a future where Wakanda is not apart from the problems of the world wasn't just a fantasy. The Wakandans already love Wakanda. They would fight and die to protect it. This movie didn't need to be about telling us that. This movie needed to be about OTHER people wanting to fight for Wakanda. A movie about unity, tolerance, and togethership. Instead we got another movie that reinforces we should all be apart. We should all stick to our own "tribe", our own "nation" because nooooobody else will help. What a closeminded movie. It's crime to have such a diverse cast, and yet, such a segrative message. It's 2022. I think Black people and white people should get along. It's a shame Disney doesnt.
"Honestly, I can't wait till we get to the point where weapons and technology are designed by 2 year olds who invented surgical implements while still in the womb so they can perform a caesarean section on themselves" 😐 ...😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 somebody give this man a medal!!!
Riri Williams was originally Starks prodigy like Spider-Man. However, since MCU Stark died in infinite war it kinda ruins her story. She caught his eye when she was able to somewhat reverse engineer his suit. She was also much younger then her movie counterpart and was fifth-teen attending MIT to be an astronaut.
I’d say even the fight scene from the bridge was needlessly long and strenuous for no damn reason whatsoever other than it just adding more time to the movie. It didn’t keep me engaged, it was just dreadful.
I've had enough of seeing a hero ran through with a spear or sword only to see them fighting minutes later. It's like the writers don't understand that THE SPINE exists.
@Mox Well aren’t you just the most fortunate ‘cause you get to complain about people all you want .. maybe that means that you have to take a comment about many movies & make it about one .. yep you don’t have to make anything up to complain about - you just have to be presumptuous in your reading .. in the original it states that they have had enough of seeing a hero ran through & then fighting minutes later as if the spine doesn’t exist .. never were they talking about just one movie & then you have issue with someone saying that apparently blood doesn’t exist either & you just jump on them about PG-13 movies like they specifically mentioned PG films or a specific PG film. Also I wrote about the flagrant misuse of bad/lazy-writing tropes which obviously spans multiple movies & shows ‘cause it can’t be a trope if it only happens once. Stop assuming every comment that doesn’t please you is talking specifically & exclusively about what you want to be angry about. Also maybe get better standards & just so you can’t insert any new meaning here I will name names so here we go - a comment freed from your presumptuous insertions “The best family movie put out in the past three years is Ghostbusters Afterlife & by that scale of comparison then Wakanda Forever was just alright, like a C- or a strong 56%”. Please don’t bother trying to prove how my personal grading system is made-up unless you want to take the stance that EVERY OPINION IS MADE UP - which I don’t fully agree with, but you seem like you will make impossible leaps to to bring (lacking) logic-lines together, but really you are just using defending a meh movie to feel superior to others, but not superior to anyone on NPR, just people on KZclip.
I hoped that Jaleel White -- aka Steve Urkel aka Stephon Uquelle aka Urquelbot -- would be the new Black Panther. He's got the tech genius pedigree, and he's a super bad ass. Oh well.
Dude when you make an argument speak normally, I had to reread this 3 times to understand what you meant. Anyways its been a bit since I watched this movie so imma just take what you say a face value, if they recast Chadwick Boseman with his son they still recast the role of Tchalla. My question is why didn't they keep it that way rather than kill off Tchlla and make Shuri Black Panther.
@Aidan Hales are you kidding me? If that were to happen, it would be even worse. The people would all get soooo mad, like you don't know the marvel audience lmaoooo. They would always think it's a joke, they r not honouring Tchalla, etc. In this movie, they made a way of honouring Tchalla and still "recast" him with his son, which is way more meaningful
yeah tchalla had years of training as black panther. shuri is a fucking scientist but she ends up doing backflips and shit after eating a herb. last time I checked the herb gave you super strength not parkour skills or combat training
Besides everything you said, the end-fight between Namor and Shuri gave me “Marta Effect” vibes, also how Shuri let’s almost everyone in her army die because she is taking her time to kill Namor and it’s completely ignored as Shuri and Namor come back on her aircraft and everyone smiles and leaves, like wtf? It was a cheap outcome with terrible casualties and they just brush it off like her attitude as a leader and protector didn’t even matter at all… And one point out of all that I agree with you Drinker, is that Shuri doesn’t fit the role of black Panther because of her goofy character, I literally can’t picture or take her serious at any scene because she just doesn’t look serious, she looks goofy, fragile, like she is waiting to tell a joke
Everything you just mentioned is exactly why she allowed M'baku to challenge for the throne since he has better judgement. She went to Haiti to giving wakanda further problems.
8:56 Ross says himself that he has eyes on him at all times, so it would makes sense that the head of what amounts to the Wakandan Secret Service would want to be at least somewhat discreet when making contact with him.
@Kätzchen But I mean... as Loki once said, "There are no men like me." I've never really looked that hard enough but I've never come across someone even remotely close. And usually no offense, but the people who actually do share any of my passions are kind of... strange. Maybe I'm strange too, but I'm not just the same as them in some way. It's not like I'm a lonely guy with no friends- I have friends, and I can safely say they're not weird, and I share a lot of interests with them, but they're about things they like more, like football, brawl stars, basketball, women even. But my true passions that always get me lost in thought lie in the bigger picture - the purpose of life, religion, politics, time travel, the things that REALLY make you use your brain, but there are very few people who enjoy using their brain these days. They just like to live in ignorance of all these big pictures and focus on right here, right now, and that can be a good thing, to just enjoy life now and live in the moment, because sometimes the truth is nothing but pain. But I have an unusually large urge to find truth - in gender, religion, anything that governs how we live our lives. Why? Who knows. Maybe I'll find that out someday too But for now ima go watch Doctor Who, have a nice day
I don't know why they even bothered making a sequel to the first Black Panther as it really should've ended after Chadwick Boseman passed away (may he rest in peace) because no one could truly replace him. The previous BP movie may have been flawed, but it's a masterpiece compared to Wakanda Forever. Awesome to hear that Rogue Elements is getting closer to being finished, Drinker! :D Keep it up, guys!
Did I miss the part where Shuri was this expert in hand to hand combat? I don't recall her doing anything that made me think, damn she's the next Panther! So she drinks the formula and all the sudden she's an expert at hand to hand combat? I found this part to be a bit unreal. Kinda reminds me of Ripley getting like 10 minutes of gun education and all the sudden, she turns into Rambo in Aliens.
@Freezing icy She didnt beat him physically, like at all, she got stabbed and nearly died against namor who had already been almost fully drained of his power. She only won bc she lured him into her ship to dry him, and then properly timed the final explosion.
@Freezing icy she clearly couldn’t fight very well, the hold time he had the upper hand. But she was able to beat him because of her smarts. But yeah-hope you have a good day. GOD bless you,JESUS loves you ❤️
@Dark Knight Hey now, Ripley was actually pretty poor at her initial gun use at the end of Aliens. They even made it a point to have a scene where she almost didn't get one of her shots off in time because she was unfamiliar with her weapon. I can think of only one scene in the whole movie where she made an accurate kill shot. (The one where Newt screams "Behind us!") The rest was just point blank firing.
@Quandale Dingle saudi arabia is a kingdom with warriror ladies too. Do you see any heirs getting combat training there? Besides if she got training its the writers job to include it in her story and not leave it for speculation
What also bothers me is that ocean men gave his most emotional valuable possession, his mothers bracelet, to Shuri. Why would you gave something like that away to an outsider, who you later declare your enemy? I predicted right away that his bracelet would be the key ingredient to make the magical herb.
I'll say one positive thing here. I like the Mayan motif behind the villains. Every Atlantis or Atlantis knock off is modeled around Greece, so it's a nice change of pace to see fish people with literally any other cultural inspiration.
@Joshua Patterson i just think that cuz its a mythological society that you talk about to people of ur land then like it would be way more plausible to say wow there is a group of us living underwater then saying oh there are egyptians living underwater cuz i feel most greeks dont know about egyptians
@Thatone Legend well the other inconsistency that makes me say definitively that they aren't Greek is that the island of Atlantis was far more than a hop and a skip from Greece. While Greece is surrounded by the Mediterranean, Ionian, and Aegean seas, he said Atlantis was located in the Atlantic ocean. For locational context, he claimed that the sinking of Atlantis created a mud shoal that blocked exit from the Mediterranean to the Atlantic. That would put Atlantis somewhere around Spain. I suppose it's not out of the question for Greeks to sail to Atlantis and claim it, but it was never mentioned, and I wouldn't assume that was the case.
@Joshua Patterson well what i could find was that he said they were quotiing solon who stated that he translated egyptian records but i see nothing about them not being greek. Which would not be uncommon to hear about a branch of your people in other people’s records.
The God Bast should have been Implemented in the film in some way. The goddess was introduced briefly in the first black panther opening credits. Bast should have been the one to deliver the herb it Shuri in the lab
Losing Chadwick was such a terrible loss. He was such a light of talent. And knowing how hard he worked on the first Black Panther despite probably being in so much pain due to his illness.
@witch, please As someone from Europe and very eurpean descent, I find it insulting that you always think it happened only to your people because every eurpean ethnicity were slave of another at some point. The only différence is that we don't always bring it up the moment something don't goes our way. Also you should look how the ottomans treated your people. It's funny to me because you almost never bring that up, or the fact that it's your people themselves who sold the loosing tribu to the french, english and dutch slaver in the first place. That fact is always ignored despite being true. I didn't want to talk about this because it's not relevant with the movie or the actor but since you bring that up, then I didn't give me choice so stop lecturing people about what happened 200 years ago. People, whoever they are, whatever their heritage is are not responsible for what their ancestor did because if so, I would probably be send in a gulag somewhere because of my grandfather crimes and it will be pointless. Suffering isn't a contest or an olympic discipline. Not yet at least
@Over Under Of course, what you say is absolutely true but it doesn't take away that what he did was very professionnal and can be looked up upon for everyone. I was at days of dieing from a liver cirrhosis and it was 2 years of agonising pain and involved many ambulance ride and many frightening race for blood transfusion, and the kind of people that gave me inspiration to find the will to try my best to fight and stay alive as long as I did till they found a compatible donor. Of course I'm à nobody but it's important to have people to look up to in real life.
@Sophie Amanda Leiton Toomey That's professionalism on another level. Some other actors broke their contract because they feel they weren't pampered enough, meanwhile he finished the movie and you don't notice anything wrong with him. He's a real life black panther.
to be fair the whole 'drying him out' thing wasnt the worst plan weve seen so far in MCU. i mean its not a 'oh we need this one magic/techno device to kill him for good' trope thing. but its also not as bad as your whole plan hinging on the bad guy taking a nap when u tell him to then taking his super weapon away....like, in context its not awful but i get it
I was so sure, so so sure that Okoya would be the next black panther. A fierce loyal warrior, one of the most skilled in the MCU. How easy it would be to seperate the protector and the ruler. Black Panther is a protector, a symbol for the people while the rightful ruler could have been somebody else. And isn't the whole Black Panther in the first movie is you have to be able to fight without power as well? Well, I guess Shuri is losing her title in a week, probably a lot faster than that.
Why? He was an actor. He was not really Black Panther. This is where it has all collapsed. Maybe if he had told the studio of his condition they could have prepared a transition to another actor.
"It's okay when we do it." "The situation is nuanced and complex when we make mistakes." "There's historical reasoning that pardons our bad actions." - wakanda
@Keshi It's kinda what I've talked about in the past. People have this great idea nowadays of what the world is and what made like that. But they don't know it's based on how older generations look at people through their experiences and what they're being told now. When most look at Irish they don't think of slavery or the 800 years of sheer misery we got from our lovely hosts as a bad thing. Most even see our history as a tourist attraction and we don't mind, it's just listening to ignorance and stupidity is annoying and pointless and doesn't do any good. We're well aware of what slavery was like for black people, it was miserable and in the past people understood more about it than they do today. We don't even have to worry about that or any real racist behaviour anymore and it's been that way for as long as I remember up until everyone started acting this way and feeling entitled cus of it. That works both ways of course, far left or far right. People were just happier before!
Also she cancelled the agreement because they sent people to confiscate the vibranium during the hearing but the queen had a contingency, captured them, and gave the other nations a warning.
@jean hyppolite They shared it with Bucky and Sam though ...maybe just because they are Avengers . But still it doesn't make sense..Tchalla said they would be sharing resources...the UN asked him what a country of farmers can offer and Tchalla and his delagation grinned ...meaning , that they thought of the vibranium and the technology it can offer....what was the point then If not the tech ?
@Maxim S No.... they opened up some outreach centers outside of Wakanda and whatnot. but they never stated that they would be sharing vibranium. watch the movie again if you need to.
I think shuri's personal journey with anger, grief and sadness are the main reason why she was chosen as the black panther actually when you look at it that way it makes sense!!!
This movie started with such promise, too. They handled Chadwick Boseman's death in a truly powerful and emotionally impactful way. Then things went off the rails.
Odds are it was gonna be tough to make a movie that didn't seem like a mess in some way after the death of Boseman. That said, the direction they went in rubbed me the wrong way despite it being completely predictable.
@Maxim S Last time I remember, 5.56mm and 9mm rounds did a better job of killing 7 foot tall aliens and death wheels than the sonic spears. Even then, I'm pretty sure Killmonger stated that they can stop a tank, not destroy it.
I watched exactly 1 Marvel movie. Which was enough for me to never watch any other ones after that. I wish more people just straight up ignored this load of crap.
@adamushuwell, the KZclip expert has given him his opinion. This is really the downfall of society. People like this guy don’t have any opinions of their own
1:06 It took me a full minute to remember who that guy was. His character had a lot of potential, and I think his abilities were pretty interesting, but they didn't do anything with his character or motivations, which ended being a really drawn-out hissy fit. I think he is the guy who kidnapped pepper in the 3rd iron man movie
actually the mosquito drone does come in a couple times, like when it lands on the FBI car. I do agree that Ross is the worst CIA agent ever. I saw nothing wrong with the scenes with the mercenaries- it would be like another country sending mercenaries into a U.S. nuclear missile silo. Shuri's decision to spare Namor didn't make a huge amount of sense, but I knew they couldn't kill the character. I do think Riri was done a lot better than America. I disagree with the assessment of Shuri- Letitia really stepped up to the plate.
It makes sense if they are trying to avoid an all out war with Atlantis. He's basically their god king and he died they would wake holy war to avenge him. Imagine if some Muslim country killed the pope in the middle ages. The Catholic world would not stand for that and try to wipe said nation of the face of the planet Same concept applies here.
Still quite proud of myself that I have never seen any Marvel or DC film. In fact I haven't watched many films at all since about 2012. Despite this I still find Mr Drinker very entertaining.
@Conservative Logic Yet you keep replying. I'm so beneath you though right? Lol 🙄 It's almost like you expect me to say " _you know what, you're right..I see the error in my ways! Thank you edge lord!_ "
I couldn't wait for this film. I actually loved how they retconned Fish Man's back story because Drunquaman (my other sub-aquatic hero) got there first, plus my insane parents dragged me all over Mexico at an impressionable age. So I am all about the Mayans and the Aztecs, who they welded together which never happened, but as you say "F this it's Marvel, we'll ignore incredibly important civilizations like Cortes has returned from Spain and focus of the African Nation that is entirely fictious!" Then we went. It was so damn long and "WTF?! This makes NO sense! Thank god they sell beer there!" I forgot the opening, which was amazing and a wonderful tribute to a fantastic actor -- who obviously held ALL of Wakanda together. And god yes, THANK YOU for shitting on the submarine! I said the same damn thing and got hit over it. I wanted Erik Selvig to show up and go for it, because he played Tupolev in "Red October" -- now he's being subversive over on "Andor" -- where they actually swear, drink and the whole series opened in a Whorehouse Nightclub, now THAT'S a Star Wars show!
U made a lot of valid points but Sha'ri was very relatable if u never lost a loved one then lost the closest one to u. Then u're mother. From beginning to end she's mourning and going thru the stages of grief. Namor is a dictating underwater god... He wouldn't have much personality besides being in charge his whole life. It could've been better but it was the good for not having Chadwick
Happy to say I only watched 1 marvel movie in the past 20 years, and that one was free on my flight to Europe. Never paid a dime to watch any of their shit.
It felt like Shuri was supposed to be the usual "genius but physically weak" role, which made sense since she was a snarky rich kid tech brat that didn't involve herself as much as T'Challah did with social issues since she preferred her comfortable tech-bubble, like an actual sheltered rich tech kid. Her brother dying could have been a massive system shock that made her more motivated to be involved and try and act even when she clearly doesn't have the battle powers of her brother since whether she had the abilities or not, he's gone and the only one to protect you now is yourself. You need to adapt. Maybe the bodyguard or the girlfriend could have tried to take up the mantle while she tried to cling to her usual role of support nerd like with her brother and stay out of harm and in comfort bubble to avoid change, but they get captured or injured since almost no one can truly replace T'Challah and shit just happens. So she's forced to face reality and not try and be something she's not or think she can replace someone, but play on her own individual strengths for the sake of everything T'Challah tried to uphold and protect, finally in his shoes and seeing why he gave everything to act. Maybe with Riri could have been her trying desperately to do what she can to keep things together, but she meets this sheltered, selfish, spoiled tech kid and sees a reflection of herself, acting as a role model for change the same way her brother did. Both of them could be a symbol of the dangers of isolationism for oneself and for the greater good. Working together using their combined tech smarts showing how even when your best isn't enough, it's ok for someone else to have the skills you lack. It's helping one another in crisis that gets people though. No one becomes the new Black Panther, both him and what he hoped to achieve stay honored in memory as the new creed of Wakanda, thus "Wakanda Forever". Shuri stays her own person, and a new super hero, another force for good and so does Riri.
For how low my expectations were for a phase 4 movie, this one was honestly not as bad as i imagine. I'd put just sliiiigghhtly under No Way Home. Still it didn't feel like black panther movie but more like a Wakanda movie
What happened to Tony Stark starting to develop a way to synthesize a vibranium alternative? Wasn't that one of the reasons for Wakanda ending their isolationism? Also, if Wakanda has mosquito drones, why are they using golf ball-sized cameras in Falcon and the Winter Soldier for espionage?
In the first movie they mention one of their sonic spears can destroy a tank. I think the most powerful nation thing is mainly based on potential or weapons they have but refuse to use. And Wakanda agreed to come out of hiding and share more with the world but we don’t know the details. I doubt it meant sending tons of vibranium to other countries that they can do whatever they want with. They likely meant limited supply and use for things like cleaner energy, medical devices and such. And if they did say to build weapons, well they wouldn’t be the first country to change the terms of a deal. Not to mention the characters that represented US interests seemed to have more nefarious motives than global defense which they kind of already have with Nick Fury and SWORD shown at the end of that second Spider-Man movie.
Also, idk why he glossed over the fact that foreign countries were sending mercenaries to steal from Wakanda. This guy leaves out parts of the story to fit his agenda all the time
@Nathan Olinger nothing bad if it's a gd plot or decent actors..but sadly this movie got terrible lead actors.. mainly overacting and shouting for no reason unbearable to watch such things in a movie lol
Lol "He attacks Wakanda by making everything a bit wet" 🤣🤣🤣Hilarious. Very good points for sure. Appreciate your hard work TCD (lots of editing in your videos).
Hey Drinker, you should check out Chadwick Boseman’s depiction of James “Hardest Working Man in Show-biz” Brown in “Get on Up” if you haven’t yet. He knocks it out of the park
@patro m Well problem is there is a scene, they take a current to arrive to Talokan from one of the cenotes, I have no idea how that is suposed to work though, but yeah it's explained
@Itande 05 so what was it? Because the scene before showed shuri and namor going to the city. So unless there is another scene showing them moving or the writing is shit.
Shuri gets struck with a spear through her spine? No problem. The writers don't know what a spine is since they don't have any backbone. The story really reflects the world THEY live in today.
Gawwwddd...just listening to the plot is making my brain melt. If I actually watched this thing I think my cerebellum would implode. Thanks for taking the plunge on this one drinker.
Thats because you are listening to the plot being told by someone who wants you to hate it. Its an interesting balance between getting his viewers to agree with him, and getting those that disagree with him to comment. All about that viewership bby.
With the quality of CGI and writing, they should have just made a limited series on Disney plus instead of a movie. I reckon a 4 or 6 episode special would have given us a better backstory to Namor and really connect all that happened after T’challa’s death. Also would have been interesting to see what happened to Namor and his people during the snap. I feel the writers ignoring that bit created a plot hole. Edit- would have been great if the writers made Namor’s people possessing Adamantium instead of vibranium since they already wrote him as the first known “mutant” in the MCU.
I thought the movie was great but I agree with a lot of these points. Was I the only one that teared up at the very beginning scene of the silent marvel logo made of images of chad with no sound ? That was one of the best logo designs ever made in my opinion.
The fact that you call this movie great while trying to claim you acknowledge its faults is such a politician answer that you immediately piss away any credibility you might have. You may as well claim to be neutral, which never does anyone any favors.
@Ryan I didn't mention it in my other comment here but I think this movie does show the growth of character in its female leads. I think Riri and Nakia are the only ones where the whole "women are perfect, all they do is great" is showing. But they did show the dilemma they usually do with other superheroes with Shuri. In that aspect, they're definitely not like other Marvel films.
It was so sad, the whole theater was in silence (lots of kids were there) but it was so sad. I also enjoyed the first half of the movie a lot, and I thought it was really cool to include Mayan culture, and it was beautifully done. That’s what I hated what came after, I couldn’t root for any in Wakanda after what they did in Talokan, and I feel like they’re just going for the commonplace of natives in America being savages.
I feel if we wanted to introduce Riri, they could’ve had her working in her basement or bedroom, not making time for family or anything else, always distracted by her work, only to hear a news broadcast of Tony Stark’s death, being the one thing that snatches her attention away from her creations. Then she could look at a picture of her getting an award, presented by Tony, starting her motivation to be as smart and as successful as him, as he inspired her way back when, making it more emotional when she dusts off a childlike drawing of her own iron man suit. Boom, introduction done and she’s already more of a character than the original.
That is really, really good. Did you just come up with that off the top of your head? Thats a better origin story than most of the characters we have right now. Spiderman got bitten by a fancy spider, now he is a spider-man. The Hulk got hit by a bomb now he is big and green, Batman's parents got hit by bullets, now he fights crime. Those are just way too basic to be realstic. The only two realistic origin stories that I know of are Ironman, and captain america. Even Wolverine's is kinda of a rip off of captain america. Your's is way better than any of these, because it actually has realistic motivation that people can understand, and have experienced (no I'm not talking about building a super suit of armor here) I'm talking about coping with loss. Great concept Paca.
10:12 Yeah, I thought that part was weird. She flies her prototype armor over the barricade of cops, who, as far as they know, are trying to stop the abduction of a U.S. citizen, but a highly valuable assent (inventor of the vibranum detector). But as for Ross, he said the CIA Director, and his ex-wife Contessa Val really-long-name, is watching him every second. But to her credit, she acted like she was 3 moves ahead of him every way, but over all, he was under utilized. 1st movie had him shoot down Wakandan weapons transports, making him vital for the climax, and this one didn't give him something to do?
While I did enjoy the movie and I do see through the point of view of Critical Drinker. Trust me he brought up a lot of points that I myself was like, “Holy cow! I was thinking that too! I am a critic after all! Yay! EEP!” XD I will say this. Ocean Man came to attack Wakanda not just because Shirley escaped and to kill Riri but while T’Challa’s girlfriend helped her and Riri escape she killed one of the ocean people. Shirley immediately tried to save that ocean person to both save a life and to prevent a full out war from happening because Ocean Man was very protective and devoted to his people so whoever killed or hurt them he was going to seek war against. But because that ocean person was left to die and did die Ocean Man and his ocean people attacked Wakanda for that reason and while they were at it he went after Riri and the Queen sacrificed her life saving her. So either way even if Riri wasn’t there Wakanda would have been attacked. It wasn’t like the Wakandians should take her over to another location and Wakanda would have been protected. Ocean Man felt betrayed by Shirley and he wanted to hurt and kill both Riri and Wakanda as ultimate vengeance. I felt like that was the only mistake in the video that Critical Drinker made because he made it sound like it was all for Riri, no offense. Lol
I might be used to the mediocre quality, because I kinda liked it (except the colonialist shit etc). But I thought that Shuri's character development was good though, really. She didn't want it, it fell on her and she had to take it.
My main problem with namor was that they never said he was objectively wrong. Like they tried to show him as a bit sympathetic instead of ya know a guy planning to commit unprovoked genocide.
Even my mother…who puts in diligent work to support the message…was baffled by Shuri being the next Black Panther. If the movie was an extended setup for her to NOT be the panther (to yield to Nakia, Okoye, or even M’Baku) it would’ve been more interesting and fitting for her character. Oh well, at least we have an adorable new kid to suit up in a decade or so (or more likely, in the inevitable Young Avengers).
13:54 I watched this film for the first time with my girlfriend because we loved the first movie, and she left to go to the bathroom because she was bored of the infodump, then came back when the backstory info dump was still going. Such a coincidental callback made me smile
Nemur goes insane in the comics on and off because he's half human. in the water he gets oxygen deprivation over time and the on land he gets water deprivation or dried out, one of the weirdest heroes/villains in the marvel universe
Their plan of fighting people who live in the ocean and thrive in the ocean…. In the middle of the ocean had to have been the worse battle plan ever 😂
Fight on the land or on a secluded beach!! They have plenty of those in Africa and would both give them an advantage while not having them be in the middle of fucking enemy territory
Like trying to fight piranhas while skinny dipping in the Nile River
That is literally the point of the scene.
To show us how serious Shuri's vengeance was and how dangerous it was getting. She's not gonna think clearly at that state
They tried fighting them on mainland and they still proved to be a worthy fighter
I was gonna say the same thing
One huge thing that's becoming blatantly obvious with these franchise films/TV shows is that the people who write and produce them don't have much real-world experience of a lot of the things they're putting in their product. Soooo many flaws & inconsistencies.
As a musician, I've learned that the artist needs to live and suffer to create. Experience makes your work relatable.
they dont hire ppl who have any knowledge on the comics lol
People shitted on Chadwick when he was alive and the original black panther movie
@SeanMan the message that we shouldn't be selfish and be consumed by vengeance is bad?
@ccshum shum what lamo ur face
Imagine being the "strongest" nation on the planet and yet you choose who controls your entire country without question based on who can beat who in an ankles deep of water 💀
So what's a much better way of choosing the head of state? Going to the first-born male child of a random unelected family who just happens to be in that position? Great idea genius
@dan j and you can back up your false claim? Substantiated on what exactly. I'll wait....😴
@Haramu-fal no you
@Haramu-fal hahahahah ratio
@rorrim0 They didnt, @haramu-fal bases their reality on inaccurate movies and the latest "woke" talking point.
@Ashcool playing what?
An easy game?
While the rest of the army cant reach, nothing can stop Namur once he's up there
He can bring it down by himself, none of them are as good in the sky as namor is
He's literally a flying tank, and with his weapon being pure vibranium, meaning it's alot stronger then the resources that they have, he would shred through that entire helicarrier within minutes
And how were they going to create a helicarrier in a couple weeks?
Don't remember if I said this before
But flying in the air to fight Namor is stupid, as stupid as fighting him on the ground or the sea
Either way unless you isolate him in a dessert, which they did, your screwed
The plan they made barely work
And the plan you made is just as dumb, if not dumber
"Why I gotta be a *black* panther?" -- T'Challa.
I miss the days when the MCU had a clear central narrative, good writing and a sense of direction
@Peace maker Iron Man 1 > Infinity War or Civil War is ludicrous
It was never good lol overhyped super hero dribble the best was iron man 1 and than only the first half as the bad guy was terrible and I lost interest as soon as he escaped the middle east
@Solaris 32 Wakanda Forever was good, the plot may be a little confusing, but the movie is one of the best in phase 4, not that its difficult lol.
Yup. The MCU ended for me after Spiderman No Way Home (skip Shang Chi). Nothing after that is worth watching. It was a fantastic run, truly unmatched.
Has anyone else noticed that whenever a new female character is shoehorned into a story, the writers put a lampshade over it by having another established character say "I like her." They use this exact same ploy every. Single. Time.
Which is ironically the definition of a "pick me girl" - getting approval by the "male establishment"
I haven't seen some of the films and I watched a lot of them on the tv in the background while paying attention to other stuff, what other times aside from in infinity war with captain marvel did this happen? 2 times is definitely 2 too many and it's not subtle at all, but I haven't heard it happen other than those 2.
That's why it's called M SHE U mate..got it🤷🏻♂️🤣
@Colin Cummings true brother
@Oniplus couple things I see here I can answer
Oh and i decided to respond again because I reread your comment and decided "oh wait, I know the answer to that" lol
1: Tony stark built his first Ironman suit in a cave with a box of scraps and one of his rockets
This took him an extended period of time even with the help of a kidnapped scientist
Now even though he had a single rocket, and barely nothing, he still created the arc reactor
Now, let's say tony stark had, I dont know, none of his crazy almost unlimited amount of money, but access to garages or junkyards with hundreds of cars, engines, and other disposable technologies, along with enough money to buy some shit from the store
He wouldn't have just made an iron man suit, he would have made 100 of them
Now riri, with 10 times the resources he had, made a barely functional suit that she could barely move in, it was barely a suit it was more like a seat, all she could do was move her arm, and direct where she flew, making it more like a strike drone but more dangerous, and even the weapon that she had, still wasn't anything but an oversized taser
But then, she gets access to wakandian technology, and an ai made by shuri, so not only does she have access to unlimited resources from lne of the most advanced technologies seen in the mcu, but she also got access to an ai made by shuri, who is debatably as smart or even smarter then Tony stark
That's not even counting the amount of time she more then likely had to train the navigation system and control her sense of balance, since they had time to do those things
And yes, considering where she was, her databank was probably alien to Tony when he first made the arc reactor
And judging by the fact that she had far more superior resources then tony, why is it such a stretch that she would make something better, since it's already confirmed she's a genius
Answer me, I'll wait
2: no it doesn't, especially if we're going by the narrative that a teenager shouldn't be able to do anything close to what stark can do. Peter being able to hack his technology makes absolutely no sense no matter what way you spin it
And I'll relent to the point about the cures, but that does not however excuse the fact that Peter beat Dr strange in his own dimension, using math
And yeah, he probably did need to take data from tonys many many things, I'll have to relent this point to you, I'm pulling blanks
3: the icing problem I get, I have a problem with that to, so atleast we agree on that
But the repulsor technology is barely even that, it's Like a cannon, or like I said, an oversized taser
Now the oxygen thing, that was adressed, moreso then even the iron man movie did(i think), she ended up passing out and free falling down and almost falling into the ocean
And your point about her flying perfectly fine after, Tony did the exact same thing
The only difference between those 2 scenes is that Tony had an icing problem, while riri had an oxygen problem
Tony didn't have a problem with oxygen, and riri didn't have an icing problem
Which might have something to do with the fact that their 2 different suits
Iron man had a full fledged armor, but riri was attached to a glorified jetpack, meaning she probably didn't have the icing priblem like Tony did
And the reason I say that is because when his suit froze, it wasn't his feet that froze, not the place that was excelling him upwards
But the place where it drew power, which caused it to malfunction, however riri, having a different type of armor, didn't have the same problem
Riri's design was basic, barely functional in comparison to Tony who not only made a far batter suit in his first attempt, but still had a superior armor when he made his second
And the repulsor tech, once again, she made a big ass taser, literally all it was and could do was blow up a plane, while Tony makes microscopic missles that can blow up tanks and mountain ranges, but let's please badger riris energy based repulsor even though their five years in the future and have more then likely made advances in technology
And I've already said this but, her being in wakanda with access to unlimited amounts of vibranium, wakandas tech, and an advanced ai when she already made a bootleg iron man suit more then makes up for that fact
Anything else?
@Oniplus damn, aside from your first point and most of the second I can't argue
Good show I guess
(NEVERMIND)
@Oniplus that's alot
Never seen that much on KZclip
Give me 30-40 minutes and I'll get back to you
@supervegon oh we do remember and we have a lot to say to your statements :
first, Riri's character's developments that are the problems, from the very beginning, she went straight to developing some ultra high tech stuff from nothing burgers(arc reactor, super AI, repulsor jets, all made from junk without the access of technologies) in her spare time just after watching ironman on internet or something, that's literally underestimating Tony to the point of making what he had to went through to make mark 2 in ironman 1 as something like a joke both emotionally and knowledge wise, are you telling me she flew her own satellite for her AI to be online 24/7 on her suit and to access data on her database? or are you telling me that incomplete suit have massive databank packed that not even Tony's mark 2 can do? oh maybe I should ask about how did she even get the power to charge her arc reactor from an apartment, enough for her to fly for extended period of time? go on, answer me, I'm waiting
second, what Peter did made more sense because he hacked the already existing tech and he's definitely took some datas from stark's tech in order to learn many, many things, oh and you probably forgot peter have the thing he got from stark's jet that can make any materials, powered by Tony's latest arc reactor to cure Otto, Norman, and Max, not to mention when the device got destroyed and the arc reactor was stolen, there are practically 2 more Peters helping him to develop the rest of the cures, so what's your point?
third, wdym she was already in a place full of advanced technologies when she built her mark 2? they first found her in a fucking apartment and she already made her own "mark 1" complete with repulsor tech and somehow icing-problem-free suit that doesn't even cover her whole body that can also literally keep functioning no problem even after flying higher than Tony's mark 2 did(the only thing she had to worry about was oxygen level, like wtf, you already solved that problem if you can reach higher altitude as Tony's mark 2 without losing too much breath on yourself, that height is cold as fuck and deprived of necessary oxygen to even keep your brain functioning properly), that in itself is already much, much better than mark 2 in every way, especially the weapons being energy based repulsors instead of jet thruster repulsor in Tony's mark 2, the one she developed in wakanda is already her "mark 2" if you don't know yet and her ironheart mark 2 is already at the level of warmachine mark 6 which is quite a leap that not even Tony can do in a span of few weeks of her stay in Wakanda, don't you think? I have even more questions as to why you even think that was okay in the first place, I am genuinely even more confused than you
I especially loved how Shuri survived a worse injury than what killed Killmonger 🤣
It just wasn't a worse injury though...
Plot armor
Killmonger was in a condition to be healed from that injury. He chose to just die. Also why wouldn't the suit be upgraded beyond what the previous could do. We saw in the first movie that Shuri makes the suits stronger when she makes new ones, why wouldn't she include healing?
He got stabbed in the Lungs/Heart. Sheri got stabbed in the guts, easier to survive then the chest.
This movie apparently was against masculine black man
Bro just imagine that, the masculine black man. That was gonna be the best thing for black panther man.
Tchalla Jr is the next BP
Namor’s plan makes Bane and Talia’s torturous plot look genius by comparison
But didn't he lose half his people too?
How on earth did they build their underwater city and the artificial sun?
The amount of times wakanda actively partakes in acts of war against other countries is honestly impressive
@Dash X you got that bang on
Wakanda ... America Jr.
Typical Disney writing.
Riri never had access to any DNA like the herb. How would she help her?
How dare you. Black woman don't need help they can do everything by themselves every time she says coloniser she gains 20 strength points and a revive.
"Through the process of DIFFUSION"
I’m not gonna lie I’m perfectly content that have a plot to begin with given Chadwick Boseman’s death, when I saw the movie it didn’t make a lot of sense to me but I still found it enjoyable
Didn't Wakanda get its ass kicked by Thanos' army in Infinity War, and they only won because Thor showed up with a brand-spanking new axe?
@Peace maker yea… so he didn’t save anyone lol. Sounds like the Norse god didn’t do a very good job. And even then why does it matter? That’s such a weird point to try and point out 🙃
@The amazing Garbage
The point I think he was trying to make was a blond guy had to save the most powerful African state and would have succeeded if he aimed for head but he didn’t because Mickey Mouse wanted billions of more dollars
Thor is the goat seriously and Thor 4 didn’t do him justice
Nobody got ass-kicked as hard as the Hulk so
@MrPjw5 Actually, as of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the year is 2024.
One of the issues that I have with the MCU is the following:
If everyone can become a hulk (smart hulk) with a blood transfusion from Bruce Banner, everyone can pilot an iron man suit, everyone can become black Panter with some herbs etc. etc., why not just creating few tens of thousands of super-hulk soldiers with an iron man suit and the agility of black Panter? Just in case another intergalactic threat comes along.
@Isaac That's true. But she never had to. She wasn't afraid to get involved though.
She used those blasters in BP and in Infinity War.
@Wallace Thompson Never seen her fight before wakanda forever
@Gouka Kuroi Syndrome reference
Thats something war machine can say
@Ewokpilot 65 yeah I know! I’m moreso referring to the people who dislike it sarcastically and agreeing with you lol sorry if it wasn’t clear
@sky r woah woah woah, I'm DEFENDING the film. I LIKED shuri's arc. It was good.
@JJ_Jupiter_ 789 no point man.
Half these guys didn’t watch the movie and just repeat what people are telling them.
My main gripe was that they manufactured a new country Wakanda could go to war with, so they wouldn't disrupt the world order set up in the universe. I found that I didn't know who to root for, as there was actually no real conflict. It felt like someone starting a mass fight by accidentally walking into the person in front of them.
Mr. Nimbus is the only water villain whom I'll pay to watch.
I'd give Aspen Matthews a look.
HE CONTROLS THE POLICE
Namor doesn't even control the police
nah but really nimbus would beat a good 70% of marvel characters
🤣
I bought it on iTunes…your review is very accurate. The movie wandered aimlessly for so long I stopped watching halfway through it. I believe it would have been an entirely different movie if Chadwick Boseman had lived…he was such a terrific actor.
🎁🎁👆👆👆..
Because "wimen" 🙄
Because she’s powerful and brave 🤢
No heart shaped herb
Is it kind of like how the little boy in Iron Man 3 helped Tony?
2 great takeaways from this film
1- the fight scene on the bridge
2- Angela basset carried the film while she was in it (no reason for her to die off)
I’d say even the fight scene from the bridge was needlessly long and strenuous for no damn reason whatsoever other than it just adding more time to the movie. It didn’t keep me engaged, it was just dreadful.
The duel between Okoye and Attuma was so awesome I had to replay it a couple of times!
Sorry that I don't want to spend 3 hours of my life for seeing 2 scenes.
I've had enough of seeing a hero ran through with a spear or sword only to see them fighting minutes later. It's like the writers don't understand that THE SPINE exists.
Well she was stabbed in the gut which wouldn’t kill instantly and you have to remember she has wakandan technology to help her recover
@Mox yyyeeeeah no
@nestormelendez9005 Not in Rated PG-13 films. But like I posted, people like to invent things to complain about.
Honestly t challa’s absence was really felt. They need another lead not shuri
They killed the perfect recast in the First bp movie. For which wasnt their fault cause they couldnt know it back then
Besides everything you said, the end-fight between Namor and Shuri gave me “Marta Effect” vibes, also how Shuri let’s almost everyone in her army die because she is taking her time to kill Namor and it’s completely ignored as Shuri and Namor come back on her aircraft and everyone smiles and leaves, like wtf? It was a cheap outcome with terrible casualties and they just brush it off like her attitude as a leader and protector didn’t even matter at all… And one point out of all that I agree with you Drinker, is that Shuri doesn’t fit the role of black Panther because of her goofy character, I literally can’t picture or take her serious at any scene because she just doesn’t look serious, she looks goofy, fragile, like she is waiting to tell a joke
Everything you just mentioned is exactly why she allowed M'baku to challenge for the throne since he has better judgement. She went to Haiti to giving wakanda further problems.
i laughed so hard in the cinema when they showed the suits
idk why but i imediately thought of the plague masks when i saw okoye's suit
I have a feeling that your summary is more entertaining than the actual movie.
Not really
It's not it a pretty good movie , not a masterpiece but pretty good
8:56 Ross says himself that he has eyes on him at all times, so it would makes sense that the head of what amounts to the Wakandan Secret Service would want to be at least somewhat discreet when making contact with him.
"The Drinker has jurisdiction wherever the Drinker finds himself to be" just has to become another classic line you use every few videos or so
@Mikal04 Darren Cross, from Ant-Man. Honestly he's not the worst villain. He's just forgettable because he's basically discount Iron Monger
Who’s the bald villain shown in the video
I miss the old Disney. At least we had the magic. Not feeling it anymore 😢.
Why? Who knows. Maybe I'll find that out someday too
But for now ima go watch Doctor Who, have a nice day
I don't know why they even bothered making a sequel to the first Black Panther as it really should've ended after Chadwick Boseman passed away (may he rest in peace) because no one could truly replace him. The previous BP movie may have been flawed, but it's a masterpiece compared to Wakanda Forever. Awesome to hear that Rogue Elements is getting closer to being finished, Drinker! :D Keep it up, guys!
@fudgepacker ???
@The amazing Garbage lmao of course they did. Cuz marvel a hollywood are a disgrace
They already had a movie set up and everything before he died I’m pretty sure
Did I miss the part where Shuri was this expert in hand to hand combat? I don't recall her doing anything that made me think, damn she's the next Panther! So she drinks the formula and all the sudden she's an expert at hand to hand combat? I found this part to be a bit unreal. Kinda reminds me of Ripley getting like 10 minutes of gun education and all the sudden, she turns into Rambo in Aliens.
What woman in these movies isn't a Mary Sue?
They had riri doing nano tech and other high level stuff at 3...
It's actually interesting. Which elevates it 10 times from the rest of the movie.
Atlantis is a greek myth mayans were above ground people so it really doesnt make sense to have the underwater
The God Bast should have been Implemented in the film in some way. The goddess was introduced briefly in the first black panther opening credits. Bast should have been the one to deliver the herb it Shuri in the lab
And I think I saw her in the city of gods in THOR: Love & Thunder.
He's a real life black panther.
to be fair the whole 'drying him out' thing wasnt the worst plan weve seen so far in MCU. i mean its not a 'oh we need this one magic/techno device to kill him for good' trope thing. but its also not as bad as your whole plan hinging on the bad guy taking a nap when u tell him to then taking his super weapon away....like, in context its not awful but i get it
PJW using "THE MESSAGE", and Drinker using, "IT'S OK WHEN WE DO IT". A crossover of epic proportions.
I nearly pissed myself laughing when I saw the main villain flying with those tiny sparrow sized wings on his ankles... WTF!!!
that's literally how the character is in the comics
@Justap Erson should have criticized the comics then 👀
@Ak33m Settle down champ, the wings on his feet were ridiculous either way.
@ensignbodybag 😂😂😂 lmfao. Probably felt smart typing that huh? Oh my 😂😅
@Ak33m No.. I'm an adult.
All I cared about is that they did Chadwick the tribute he deserved
@CUENTA PRINCIPAL *disney
@Snap 'n' Shoot the black panther, THE BLACK PANTHER IS REAAALLLLL!!!!! Can we get much higher?
@Snap 'n' Shoot wow well done, would you like a cookie or a medal?!
@Skeletor Black Panther is not real......
Why? He was an actor. He was not really Black Panther. This is where it has all collapsed. Maybe if he had told the studio of his condition they could have prepared a transition to another actor.
"It's okay when we do it."
"The situation is nuanced and complex when we make mistakes."
"There's historical reasoning that pardons our bad actions."
- wakanda
@David Johnson They probably didn't see it as any different from the slavery the rest of Africa already practiced.
@Captain Fighter All good man. No worries.
Also she cancelled the agreement because they sent people to confiscate the vibranium during the hearing but the queen had a contingency, captured them, and gave the other nations a warning.
@Maxim S Bro that's when he was king.. His mother has different views as you can see.
@jean hyppolite What did Shamel mean by that ? I though ?Wakandans shared their resources with the world post black panther 1
Exactly… this dude is pretending like this didn’t happen in the film wtf
I think shuri's personal journey with anger, grief and sadness are the main reason why she was chosen as the black panther actually when you look at it that way it makes sense!!!
This movie started with such promise, too. They handled Chadwick Boseman's death in a truly powerful and emotionally impactful way.
Then things went off the rails.
Odds are it was gonna be tough to make a movie that didn't seem like a mess in some way after the death of Boseman. That said, the direction they went in rubbed me the wrong way despite it being completely predictable.
Even in the movie it is said that one spear can annihilate a tank and they have thousands of them
@Maxim S Last time I remember, 5.56mm and 9mm rounds did a better job of killing 7 foot tall aliens and death wheels than the sonic spears. Even then, I'm pretty sure Killmonger stated that they can stop a tank, not destroy it.
I think they meant that the blasts of the spear annihilate tanks ....not the stabbing itself . Do you remember how they operated in infinity War ?
@highv priest like bullets?
You know the Drinker is a man of culture when even he admires how in shape Angela Bassett is for her age.
yeah like prety much any hollywood celebrity
@Sabir all that matters is the few that can see through this pig crap.
@SuperChiefStar the only person who has any discernment on this thread. Can't believe people can't see the obvious Trans amongst us
Shout out to those of us who haven't seen any of these movies and have no idea about what's going on and don't feel like we've missed out 😁
@Libertas wow how nice, you wish people would stop watching movies that they enjoy just because you can't enjoy them. Cope harder lol
I watched exactly 1 Marvel movie. Which was enough for me to never watch any other ones after that. I wish more people just straight up ignored this load of crap.
@adamushuwell, the KZclip expert has given him his opinion. This is really the downfall of society. People like this guy don’t have any opinions of their own
@adamushu exactly
At this point I don't think Disney marvel can withstand too many more "cultural events".
@Madbart214 Yo Mother except The Phantom Menace was great and had tons of heart. None of the sequels can claim that
@Gravity Slave Read, my about page. Checkmate.
@Conservative Logic
Yet you keep replying. I'm so beneath you though right? Lol 🙄
It's almost like you expect me to say " _you know what, you're right..I see the error in my ways! Thank you edge lord!_ "
@Gravity Slave That is unfortunately self-projecting, I pity you.
🤣👏🏾👏🏾 I waited for the hype to die down for a long time. This review was spot on
If Killmonger won, fought and killed Namor... Would he then be known as Fish-Monger !!?
I thought for the water battke they would use the whales as battering rams or bring in the colossal octopus
Nah those ideas require people with brains
Marvel: "Don't ask questions, just consume product."
The first black panther wasn't even that good after the 1st watch.
Happy to say I only watched 1 marvel movie in the past 20 years, and that one was free on my flight to Europe. Never paid a dime to watch any of their shit.
@Jassy Kat Good try, though.
@Brendan Wolff damn... I see...
@Jassy Kat Well, I already thought the first movie was kind of boring. The only thing I truly liked is no longer among the living.
No they where refering to nano technology
This guy leaves out parts of the story to fit his agenda all the time
This is what I’m saying. This guy glosses over all the given information about Wakanda so he can attempt to look smart. Even worse, people eat it up
11:36 it wasn’t T’Challa’s DNA, it was the (incomplete) genetic profile of the Heart-Shaped Herb
There's a little bit of both. Also, the fibre from the Mayan bracelet that Namor gave Shuri
She did use his dna, in addition to the profile of the wakandan herb. I dont know why she wanted to use his profile, it makes no sense.
When writers and directors are hired based on their social media viewpoints rather than their actual talent, is why we have movies like this.
@Nathan Olinger nothing bad if it's a gd plot or decent actors..but sadly this movie got terrible lead actors.. mainly overacting and shouting for no reason unbearable to watch such things in a movie lol
Disney did this to the film and art industry themselves. It was one company.
@Fugoff Azshoel no it didn’t…. Just hating to hate 😂😂😂
Exactly...
Bebes kids made out to be superheroes but ACTUALLY only look like Damon Wayans from Blankman, mahahaha lmao lol.
It fell massively short of the first one but I feel it was always gunna go that way without Chadwick Boseman
Eh I would disagree, it was a great experience of a movie and can stand on its own, even with the Black Panther name and Chad's legacy.
Lol "He attacks Wakanda by making everything a bit wet" 🤣🤣🤣Hilarious. Very good points for sure. Appreciate your hard work TCD (lots of editing in your videos).
A bit like the plot holes in the jaws movies.... all they had to do was stay away from the sea....but no...
Hey Drinker, you should check out Chadwick Boseman’s depiction of James “Hardest Working Man in Show-biz” Brown in “Get on Up” if you haven’t yet. He knocks it out of the park
“Makes a garden rake look obese” 😂😂😂😂😂 well played drinker
"The pacing makes an Arctic glacier look like an F1 car."
lol. That one caught me off guard
Namor casually giving Shuri a water suit of someone he probably killed painfully and removed their body from was pretty morbidly funny
@patro m Oh yeah I agregó with that
@Itande 05 then it's very poorly explained coz I missed it completely.. And shuri is the worst black panther.. 😅
@patro m That was not the city...
🎁🎁👆👆👆..
100% agree on this post and love drinkers videos. Big marvel hater but this movie was not like other marvel films
This is an amazing and entertaining breakdown 🤣
I feel if we wanted to introduce Riri, they could’ve had her working in her basement or bedroom, not making time for family or anything else, always distracted by her work, only to hear a news broadcast of Tony Stark’s death, being the one thing that snatches her attention away from her creations. Then she could look at a picture of her getting an award, presented by Tony, starting her motivation to be as smart and as successful as him, as he inspired her way back when, making it more emotional when she dusts off a childlike drawing of her own iron man suit. Boom, introduction done and she’s already more of a character than the original.
Marvel
Hire this guy
@Tony Dak Yeah
I would much rather have this.
I believe it was valid that they didn't give out vibrainium because they didn't have a black panther, their main defense.
I love this movie and truly enjoyed how they brought my boy Kukulcan to the big screen. They paid homage to a true legend of my people.
Thanks for watching, expect more soon
Kindly Dm for your reward as you have been selected among the shortlist winners📦🎁
While I did enjoy the movie and I do see through the point of view of Critical Drinker. Trust me he brought up a lot of points that I myself was like,
“Holy cow! I was thinking that too! I am a critic after all! Yay! EEP!” XD
I will say this.
It started to show on the second viewing, especially the first draft level writing. Still had plenty of enjoyable moments though
My main problem with namor was that they never said he was objectively wrong. Like they tried to show him as a bit sympathetic instead of ya know a guy planning to commit unprovoked genocide.
@Ulaznar Eren Yeager 2.0
@Mr. Alfredo If you say so.
@EL JAY but he’s not. Literally all of the main characters are against him. You’re just hating for the sake of it
@dagoogler01blatantly racist and making fun of cultural names. Cool, cool
The one thing I scoffed at was when Shuri didn't have an ounce of blood on her or even the spear when she pulled herself off of it.
Namor was a sick villain wdym. He looks badass, you can definitely see the meso-American influence in his whole appearance
I thought I wouldn't like him at first but he was definitely the best part of the film.
The only movie to make me fall asleep in theaters
The idea of wakanda would lose against russia in an invasion is extra funny looking at the current state of things
@Bananaman the US Navy would've showed up to Namors home and dropped depth charges but the Wakandans just showed up with spears.
It would still lose to the US
I love that the MCU is now a multiverse, because in my universe, the MCU ended with a snap.
