I can’t even begin to explain how much I appreciate the “practical” progress of organization. Understanding a space and creating functionality is equally as pretty-to me-as traditional decorating. Needless to say, I’m looking forward to seeing how you guys make the space work for you as you live in it more!
Your vlogs are so therapeutic to me. They help me get out of my head and destress and I can’t emphasize enough how happy you make me when you upload a video!
I think so too! I caught a glimpse of her stove and it reminded me of that gorgeous piece of art/stove she left in the cottage. Should we take a poll on how quickly she orders another for L.A. my vote is it’s already been ordered 🤷♀️ Didn’t it take like a year to get the one in TX? Just kind of kidding, but just kind of not. She has such excellent taste!
I’m 51 and just purchased my first home so I am so happy we are going through the exact same stage at the same time - the joy and the endless possibilities, the new wonders and finding out every nook in our new homes. Congratulations to Romeo and yourself- arrrrrrrrgh it’s so very exciting! ☮️💜
Figuring out your kitchen in a new house is a game of “let’s see how this works”. It’s completely different from when you reno a kitchen to work for you(which we just did). I am loving watch you unpack and decorate this new house and beyond excited for the podcast!! More Macenna works for me
For a temp solution, on Amazon they have these little circle stickers that are raised like bumps. You put them in the corners on the inside of drawers and cabinets so when you close them it makes it a lot quieter! Instead of the wood hitting wood when they close it’s wood hitting the little bump stickers and it made a big difference in our kitchen for noise! Also a lil WD-40 on the hinges I believe would help with some squeakiness!
what are your thoughts on romeo’s office being downstairs with the laundry machine and the primary bedroom being in the current guest room? it seems to make more sense and be more private. maybe since that room is so large it could eventually be renovated to have an on suite bathroom! 🤍
I agree. She can totally open the wall the the guest bathroom upstairs to the guest bedroom and put in a lovely bathroom and and stand up. She will never get away from renovations... it's in her blood heheh
Yesss!!! It feels weird to have the room downstairs and the office upstairs!!! Also the windows in their primary bedroom make me feel kinda claustrophobic
MaCenna getting a new house is like when your fav tv show launches a new season 🥳 I was thinking the "breakfast nook" space you weren't sure what to do with may be a good spot to put a stand alone pantry situation. Like a wardrobe but for your kitchen?
Nice thing about an older kitchen is it shows you how simpler people used to live. So many of us just have so much stuff these days. I’ve gotten real good at figuring out what’s practical and what just takes up space
I've simplified a lot in the past few years and tried to get rid of extra stuff and it feels so much better to me. I'm not a minimalist but when I look at some minimalist houses it makes me feel so peaceful. Benita Larsson on YT had such a relaxing home before her recent move.
I really recommend sealing the handles of your new knives with Danish oil or mineral oil (food safe). Helps the wood stay strong and healthy for much longer ❤️
I just love the way Kinsley is looking all the boxes as you open them . She is so curious . You need to make up a box of things n treats for just her and film it as you open it
This is so fun, watching you settle into your new house! Congratulations on the purchase. Since you don't really have anything much to go in the 'front' living room area, maybe it would be nice to set up your dining room there. Then when you reno the kitchen, you could take out the wall between the existing kitchen and that dining area back there, and make one large kitchen with a nice over-sized island and a walk-in pantry. It would probably still leave lots of room for a small breakfast nook at the windows overlooking the backyard/pool. Just a thought.
I live in a small cottage with very little space and no storage. My appliances are all kept in an antique cabinet in my living room right by the kitchen door. It’s so close it makes zero difference and I don’t have them cluttering up the place. Now if I can just figure out a way to keep all my decor pieces without looking like I have 3 times the amount I need I’ll be good. 🤣 I’m no minimalist that’s for sure.
I’ve owned several older homes with original cabinets and they were all small. My hat off to the women who cooked everything from scratch back then and dealt with those cabinets. Maybe on one of those empty walls you get an old fashion floor to ceiling cupboard or armoire. But what ever you do will look awesome. I love going through the move- in process with you. Can’t wait for your Momma to visit. 💕
Great feeling that this house is already your home. Sometimes it takes a little time but you seem so comfortable in your surroundings. What's more...Kinsley seems to be doing well!!! Dogs aren't as accepting of new environments but she seems to be doing well. Congrats with everything!!
Love all the character of your house. An idea for extra storage and prep area maybe a roll away kitchen island. This could be stored on the wall you wanted to create a cutting board wall. Can’t wait to see the rest of the house. 😊
When you do remodel the kitchen, open it up to the dining room and incorporate a larger space with island seating, lots of storage. Your living room is large enough to fit a dining table, just move the sofa closer to the fireplace. Or use the front room as foyer/ dining because how often do you use a formal dining room? It could hold a big table with flower vase and books that converts to dining.
I'm really ill at the moment and you surprising us with your beautiful new home has done nothing but cheer me up. Can't wait to see what you do with your home.
It is strange to see Macenna working with the space she has, compared to the cottage where everything was planned out, she knew how to utilize the space because she built it! Love all the videos
I’m a home organizer for 27 years. When you have multiple of anything:cereal boxes etc. instead of stacking the boxes next to each other as MaCenna place then. Instead put 2nd (or newer box) begin the one in front as you would put soda cans in the fridge. It gives you more visibility & you’ll know what you have & how many. If your knife rack is shifting fold a old kitchen towel & place it in the back of the drawer to brace it.
I’ve been living in my house for 4 years and I am still moving things around my kitchen. We built in a pantry and that definitely helped with keeping all the dried foods in one place and things like that. Do not stress too much MaCenna, with time you will find the perfect place for everything. It’s putting way too much on yourself finding a place for all the things right now. See what I did there? 😅 Love ya girl!!
My goodness MaCenna, I have been watching you for a couple years now and I have to say that your creative abilities, skill and energy are off the chart! You are an incredible inspiration. What a beautiful new home and your cottage is a dream. Congrats!
So fun watching you figure out all the things😊 Really excited to see how you decorate, I already know it will be beautiful! Also, totally enjoy watching Kinsley help you go thru all the boxes, she's so funny😄 but she gets in there and makes sure she knows what's going on, what was bought! She's just the sweetest🥰
I think it would be a great idea to use that small room you said was the dining room as a pantry/coffee bar/storage room. You could make it really pretty and functional. Then use your formal living room as the dining room. Just a thought. Love your videos and thanks for sharing with us!!
The best advice I’ve heard for organizing your kitchen is to imagine you are cooking a meal and think about where to put things so the process goes smoothly. Also, use lazy Susans and shelf risers to maximize the use of your cupboard space. I’d give serious thought to getting a freestanding pantry cupboard to put against that blank wall. It will give you lots more storage space, which you will need when you grow your family.
If you have empty wall space, perhaps you can do plate rails for your plates to save room in your cabinets! Like Gwyneth Paltrow did in her kitchen in her AD tour! I also really like the idea of hanging your cutting boards. Very European.
We got kitchen scissors that stick onto the fridge and it’s been a game changer 😂 it’s crazy how the tiniest little things are so frustrating sometimes
We also just bought a home in SoCal in September and I swear I am still rearranging my kitchen as I learn what's working or not. I like your idea of turning that shallow cabinet into a dry good pantry. I bet you could thrift (or make!) a china cabinet or hutch and put it in that "dead space" you were worried about between the outside door and entryway to the dining room. Two birds, one stone, etc
Love love love all the new house content. Im not sure if this would work with the lay out of the house but was thinking that when you redo the kitchen it could be more practical to have the narrow dining room space as a walk in pantry and the more formal living room could be the dining room! Just a thought ❤
I love organizing vids lol. In my kitchen with limited upper shelving, the metal wire risers/shelves were a life saver for me to be able to fit all my plates and bowls in one cabinet! They also sell the multi-level ones specifically for different size plates but my cabinets were too shallow for it
It makes my heart so happy seeing little miss Kinsley loving life with you in your new home!! ❤ I lost my Soul Dog almost 3 months ago now, and it sure brings me joy seeing you have what I had with my Smithers. ❤ I am so excited for you and your new journey!!!
How can it be!? everyday I think about you and your channel. I love everything about it. My husband is always asking : Is there a new video from Macenna? We love you channel and the way you present it.
I actually use that same liner in the refrigerator. They make cleaning up any spills or leaks so easy. And they make the fridge look so clean when it is not full.
I like the idea of using that shallow cupboard as a dry goods pantry space. That or a spice cabinet (yes, my spices could probably mostly fill that thing). Plates and bowls and servingware on either side of the range hood, maybe. This video makes me want to get in there and organize with you 😂 Organizing a kitchen is so fun to me.
It's beautiful, MaCenna! That was a long day and a mentally exhausting one! It's a lot of mental arranging and then rearranging. I've been putting off redoing the kitchen where I am for literally a couple of years! It's a big kitchen and an overwhelming thought to empty it all out... My previous kitchen was much like yours so I think I just expanded into the extra space a little too much! But you've given me some motivation! I wonder how many of us will be rearranging our kitchens now?! 😂
Love this so much! One idea could be to move the cereal into storage containers and put in the cabinet directly to the right of where they are now and then use that deep cabinet for appliances! It is always like playing Tetris when moving into a new space!
That’s one of my most hated jobs, cleaning someone else’s grime in a kitchen but you did a great job! The knife set is beautiful and a Kinsley is just my favourite little fur baby on KZclip! 🐶
Kinsley is just like my Bichon Lulu. When we bought our house. We had to step and she ran upstairs to the guess bathroom that faces our garage. I told my husband, how did she know that. They’re so smart.
Finally! Someone with older kitchen cabinets! I felt like I could never relate to all the newer cabinet videos but this gave me good ideas that I can use!
Suggestion! My mom always used a small hutch in the dine-in area of the kitchen with all the dishes to free up more cabinets for food items. We also didn’t have a pantry.
The organising someone else's kitchen to be your own is so difficult! We've been in our home a year and we did a major rearrange just before Christmas which has helped, but I cannot wait to tear that room apart. The previous owner definitely never cooked. Fingers crossed you can make yours work for you soon!
Loving this series! I would consider: making the dining room into a pantry/storage room, and make the formal living room at the front entrance of the house into the dining room. It creates storage for larger appliances, food, boxes, dog food, baby food, etc. and is highly functional.
I think someone commented on it last video, but Tuscan or Spanish villa style would really suit the house more so than French provincial. It feels more cottage like than your other house, and you can always have some influence in areas if you wish. Also how cute would it be if your mom does a landscape series with you and Kingsley exploring the scenery or looking out!!
best place for those lids is drawer at the bottom of stove. The pot will be on the stove when you need a lid. Dont forget your oven for large glass baking dishes, muffin pans, etc. Love how cute that Kinsley is!!! Not uncommon to store small appliances on a stand alone shelf. I put spices on the inside of a door on a tier of wire shelving I found on the internet. I am amazed at how many kitchens lack a pantry.
Just a couple suggestions with the organization-- I would move Kinsley's stuff to maybe a cabinet or dresser somewhere like in the guest room or Romeo's office since real estate is limited in the kitchen! I'd also try and put the lid for the pots and pans elsewhere, I feel like that big drawer just for lids is a missed opportunity! Not sure if there is room for a hutch or kind of island with storage off to the side under the windows, but might be a good option to fill in that space, add some extra storage & of course bring in a piece of vintage furniture!
I do love a practical kitchen, I.e holds everything you need and more! You will find the flow of the kitchen, making it easier to know which cupboards to put what in. When I redesigned my kitchen I had an idea of everything I needed from it and where all my items would go. It made so much difference being able to sign off knowing we had what we needed and 4 years later I still love it.
We’ve been in our house for a year and a half and I just reorganize half of the cabinets yesterday. Sometimes it takes a bit of living with the problem to figure out the solutions. Also, in the narrow drawer I’d put oven mitts or tea towels.
I loved watching your kitchen organisation video. Slideouts are the best storage in a kitchen!! You are so lucky to have so many! You can take the sliders out if you want to use a cupboard to store your large appliances in it. I am totally hooked on watching you decorate and organise your new home. I'm already waiting for your next video😘
Kinsley is such a clever, sweet girl. The fact that she found that perfect spot in Romeo’s office to watch you guys come and go, makes me smile. She loves you two, so much!😊❤
As someone that cooks, it’s a bit easier to have your spices where you can see them. I noticed you didn’t have much in the cabinet to the left of the stove. Maybe invest in a spice riser and put them there so you can see them all. I know you do hello fresh a lot but maybe for those meals you do cook? I LOVE the idea of the cutting boards on the wall for decor and then it becomes pretty and practical to store them! ❤
Love watching you get organized in the kitchen - makes me want to clear out mine and reorganize! If you think you might want to keep that silk shade on your lamps try a magic eraser to remove any stains. Can’t hurt to try. And you can put a taller harp on to raise it a bit higher to reveal that pretty detailing.
You should have that middle room be the dining room so that you can fit a bigger table and a fancy buffet, and make that narrow back room with all the windows into a cozy reading/nook/snuggle area. Just a thought! Congrats on the house!
I’m glad you thought about the dry goods pantry because the cabinet would be good for that as well as your spices. You wouldn’t have to reach down when cooking. I have my spices at eye level and it’s more convenient. 😊
Absolutely love a clean/organize with me video. Thanks for inspiring me to start myself in my home. I’ve been avoiding it, but watching this has helped! Also, can’t wait for your podcast to come out tomorrow ❤
You should get a pretty hutch and put in that blank space in your kitchen near your back door and that can store your bigger appliances, and excess kitchen stuff! It would give you extra storage and would fill out that area over there nicely!
You are gonna think I’m crazy but what if you put your workspace in the little dining room and put a nice table in the corner of the living room? Just an idea… I’m enjoying seeing how you set up the space and wonder if you’ll end up switching things around once you start using it for things… Love when you upload a new video! Thank you so much for inviting us into your life!
Something I always loved in my mom's home was our cabinet in the dining room with all the fancy glasses, plates, etc. It's a beautiful decor piece and itt frees up space in the kitchen!
The big drawer under the cabinet that you put your pots and pans in would be good for some of your small appliances that you use most often. I would definitely keep an eye out for a sideboard to be placed under the windows in the breakfast nook. It would give you more dish storage. Not sure where you plan to put your designated eating space, but it might look kind of neat in that first room you walk into at the front. Not sure how many steps that is from the kitchen. 🤷🏼♀️❤️😊
Loved ALL your moving videos; just find them all so relaxing and fun to watch. Plus you explain everything in detail and have the perfect voice for You Tube. Lova ya MaCenna..........oh and Romeo!!
Paint the inside of your cabinets with white or light color so you can see things more clearly. Love, love this house. I have the bamboo knife drawer organizer. So much better than the knife block on the counter. So glad you are using shelf paper. Now days people have skipped this and it’s just not sanitary 😊
A new subscriber here. I found you on your pack and moving vlogs. So exciting to be at the beginning of your new adventure as home owners. Can't wait to see how you decorate. Wishing you much joy as you settled into your new home.
I love your logic regarding how you packing the kitchen. Functional and practical. I would do what you mentioned at the end with the dry goods in jars, and in that larger cabinet next to the range hood I’ll do plates and the bowls ( plates at the top and bowls at the bottom). This would free more space for pantry items on the other side. So where you have the plates you can still do oils and taller cooking things and now it would be next to the other pantry things. I’m sure once you get your dinning room sorted you will add a server (china cabinet) to put your fancy dishes and glasses. I’m excited for you and it’s all coming together. Good luck and hope you guys have a wonderful week
I’m childishly proud that “my” MaCenna bought ON sneakers. I’m from Zurich in Switzerland, where they were created. It’s also a company with a great philosophy. Btw, these are poultry shears. To cut off wings and legs and open the ribs. Very helpful when butterflying a chicken, or after cooking to portion the meat. They cut through the bones very well.
McCenna, I can't thank you enough for sharing your homes, renovations, organizing, and decorating. I greatly appreciate you trying to be frugal by going to estate sales, thrift stores, and flea markets. Being on a very limited income, I live vicariously through you and your beautiful lifestyle. My house is very traditional, but I have learned so much about decorating from watching you. I am in love with your new house. I can't wait to see the cottage finished. Please continue to give basic but honest decorating suggestions and how-to's. Thanks again for allowing us in your home.
I have those pull out drawers in several lowers cabinets, and most of my pantry. They are really helpful, especially in really deep shelves. The knife drawer is nice. I have a smaller version, and fewer knives in everyday use. All these conveniences are really nessary in older homes. Love them all
It’s so lovely to wake up in a new home .I can’t wait to see you change room’s decorations you make ,I’m soooo excited for you both much love Ann uk 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧❤️❤️❤️❤️
We just got those same glasses. Funny. And our stove backsplash is the same as your Texas cottage. Great minds. Our tiles run horizontally. Your channel is a must especially when I’m feeling down. Thanks for your constant inspiration. God bless you and your family. And we have a puppy like your precious Kinsley. ❤
I can’t even begin to explain how much I appreciate the “practical” progress of organization. Understanding a space and creating functionality is equally as pretty-to me-as traditional decorating. Meeeee too ❤ anticipation kills me. Hugs to everyone from my beautiful NYC 😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆 🤣
100000% same
Same!
Feel the same!
I feel exactly the same way
Something is telling me this “kitchen renovation” will happen a lot sooner than she thinks 😂😂
I was thinking the exact same thing lol 😂
Yep I think so too! 😉
I think so too! I caught a glimpse of her stove and it reminded me of that gorgeous piece of art/stove she left in the cottage. Should we take a poll on how quickly she orders another for L.A. my vote is it’s already been ordered 🤷♀️

Yes. It will obsess her. (Why I love Macenna.)

I am loving this new series!!! Thank you for taking us along and opening up your personal lives to us all!
Kinsley is too cute inspecting all your packages !!!
I’m quite ridiculously happy every time you upload a video! It’s all the things ❤
"All the things." Indeed.
I’d love to see you make/create an “appliance pantry”, my home needs one so bad! You are my inspo for all the things like that!

You know you’re an adult when you upgrade your knives and switch the hand washing. We made the same choice last year lol 💖
I swear Kingsley is like a toddler. She is into everything😂
I know right 😍🐶🤣🤣
Kindsley is such a curious little monkey so adorable
I actually use that same liner in the refrigerator. They make cleaning up any spills or leaks so easy. And they make the fridge look so clean when it is not full.

I get the 'many spices thing'. I have a cupboard full of spices and baking adjacent things like baking soda, sugar, etc.
The black side board would look good in your kitchen by the window. And you guys can used the dinner room for eating all the time.
LOVE THIS NEW HOUSE GREAT CHOICE!!! YOU REALLY HIT THE JACKPOT WITH THIS ONE!! IT HAS SO MUCH POTENTIAL!!!
Finally! Someone with older kitchen cabinets! I felt like I could never relate to all the newer cabinet videos but this gave me good ideas that I can use!
Something tells me that we’ll see the new kitchen renovation sooner then we thought 😁
I love how sweet baby always comes and helps open packages. 🐶
best place for those lids is drawer at the bottom of stove.
I FEEL THE KITCHEN MAKEOVER MAY BE SOONER THEN YOU THINK 😍
I do love a practical kitchen, I.e holds everything you need and more! You will find the flow of the kitchen, making it easier to know which cupboards to put what in. When I redesigned my kitchen I had an idea of everything I needed from it and where all my items would go. It made so much difference being able to sign off knowing we had what we needed and 4 years later I still love it.
Little tip for the lids; I bought the metal harmonica lid holder at ikea to organise them.. it’s called variera, works like a charm!
I have that expanding holder in several places in my kitchen. Soooo useful
I’m in love with this home . It’s stunning hun . I think you found a gem . It has so much of what you talked about . ( storybook) you nailed it ❤
We’ve been in our house for a year and a half and I just reorganize half of the cabinets yesterday.
Hi McKenna, I mentioned yesterday that the kitchen was growing on me and yep I am loving this kitchen it's so pretty.
Thank You for taking us along as you get settled in your new home.
Cannot wait to see you renovate in this home!!
Loved ALL your moving videos; just find them all so relaxing and fun to watch. Plus you explain everything in detail and have the perfect voice for You Tube. Lova ya MaCenna..........oh and Romeo!!
LOVE the French provincial style. It’s my favorite. I could absolutely see you doing some of that in your new home. ❤️❤️
Love watching your videos. Can watch them all day. Can't wait to see what you do with your new house.
I love these types of videos. I'm so happy for you and Romeo getting your own home. I look forward to seeing it through the years you spend together.
Macenna you did a great amount to your New Home it's beautiful can't wait to see more of your decors enjoyed watching your videos 👍🏼👍🏼
I’m so excited to see you decorate the new home and see all the great things you find GOD BLESS.🙏🏾🥰💖💯💫
You are making wonderful progress, MaCenna. 🥰
CONGRATULATIONS on the house! I'm so happy for you both! How does Kinsley like it? Was she confused by the move? Enjoy every minute.
I have those pull out drawers in several lowers cabinets, and most of my pantry. They are really helpful, especially in really deep shelves.
The knife drawer is nice. I have a smaller version, and fewer knives in everyday use.
All these conveniences are really nessary in older homes. Love them all
That black sideboard at the Rose Bowl was spectacular!!!! It would look amazing in your new house!!!
It’s so lovely to wake up in a new home .I can’t wait to see you change room’s decorations you make ,I’m soooo excited for you both much love Ann uk 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧❤️❤️❤️❤️
I love the LA vlogs as much as the Texas ones now 😌 obsessed with the new home
I love the process of unpacking in a new home, and figuring out where to put everything! So fun.
