I said 3 days before the game that Bayless was setting the table with how he was gonna play his position, no matter the outcome, by asserting his medical training to declare that Mahomes' ankle was 80%...ergo, Mahomes would not deserve flowers for a good performance under duress...and would certainly be legit called out if his ankle's health seemed to be raised as part of a narrative if Mahomes did not play up to his usual abilities. I don't like Bayless. I really don't. I don't like his style of being a so-called "objective analyst" when everyone except maybe himself and his peoples can see his ridiculous bias coming from a mile away. Especially when he's smug, derisive (personally) of anyone expressing a counter-position, and even mean-spirited when attempting to muscle his opinion into conversations. Increasingly, I find him abjectly unwatchable.

@condog 209 there were definitely multiple reasons that game was lost. Biggest one was the pass rush of that dominant defense against an extremely banged up o-line forcing mahomes out of the pocket in less than 2 seconds literally every single play, forcing him to make quicker reads. There were tons of dropped passes. The Chiefs as a whole just weren’t the better team that day. Not to mention it being a home game in a Super Bowl.
what makes mahomes 5 afc title apperances even more impressive is that hes done it in a really tough QB conference. during that time afc has featured allen, burrow, lamar, herbert, watson. not to mention tail end of roethlisberger and brady's last couple new england years. Mahomes has had a top seed often so hes had to win more games than those guys during regular season and in many cases, beat those guys head to head.
Burrow 1-1, Allen OT Win, Lamar hasn’t done anything come playoffs, Herbert just barely made playoffs, Reason Brady left the Pats and as a Steelers fan I can assure u Ben and the Steelers were a 0 threat
As a Bengals fan, the game was fun and intense. I wish our offensive line was able to protect burrow a little bit more, but overall still a good game. Super bowl is going to be interesting this year

You still have to give credit to Burrow. Got drafted in 2020. Made it to the superbowl last year. And the AFC championship game this year. Thats pretty impressive for such a young player so new in the league. And Mahomes is just another one of those super talented freak of nature qbs that come around every once in awhile. That was a really good game, yes there were some terrible officiating calls by the zebras. It just is what it is, thats how it always has been with any sport.

@Chrs the extra games is because it’s much much less physical and traumatic on the body… it’s not even comparable. Obviously injuries will be a part in any sport but it seems like guys always missing nearly half a season every year.

This was the best roster, and cheapest roster they might ever have in burrows career. Burrow blew that game yesterday I hate to say it.

Obviously the push out of bounds was the back breaker but the RT for the Bengals got absolutely bodied on that 3 and 8 and gave Burrow no shot. I thought that was huge momentum for KC to win the game and they did.

I don't know - if Mahomes had come out there playing with a crutch under one arm, seems to me a lot of people would still be arguing he was "80%"...but what's dismissed is that Mahomes' game, the x-factor in his game, is his ability to utilize his mobility...NOT his reliance on a stout offensive line. More pointedly - if there was a slight "edge" one (Burrows vs Mahomes) had as far as their play in this game is concerned - as far as their play over the course of their intersecting careers, for that matter- there is a pretty transparent intent by Burrows' fans to insinuate that Burrows is not just slightly, but MUCH BETTER at QB than Mahomes. And...a lot of that opinion is predicated on perceiving that QB is only played legit if played a certain way. It's one of the reasons why, for years, Black QBs were regarded as not NFL ready...because the narrative always centered around how many of them were not the "proto-typical" drop back, pocket passer QB. I see folks working pretty damn hard to make the case that Burrows is definitively better...implicitly insinuating, by default, that Mahomes is not "the real thing."

As a Saints fan, we know a thing or two about horrible refereeing. And none of the calls against the Bengals last night were tantamount to the PI non-call v the Rams. We were literally cheated out of the Super Bowl whereas Burrow had the ball in his hands with over 2 mins left and couldn’t get his team into scoring position.

Earlier on that same possession with the Pats back deep in their own territory, Chris Jones had a total BS roughing the passer penalty on a 3rd&10 incompletion that basically would've cemented the game for the Chiefs. All he did was hit Brady's shoulder pad with his hand. As for the Bucs SB, yes the Bucs were no doubt the better team, but the penalties were very ticky-tack calls on KC defense. KC 11 penalties for 120 yds, Bucs 4 for 40 yds. Just sayin'...if you're a regular contender, odds are you'll see both sides of bad officiating.

I watched the game and I would say that both teams have great QBs. Joe was running for his life the whole game and it still took a stupid penalty to prevent overtime. Hopefully we will see these two facing each other for the next decade.
I didn't see Joe run for his life, I saw him multiple times just throw the ball in the dirt rather than even try to do something productive. Can’t go too high near the head, can’t go too low at the legs, cant pull them down by the pads,cant make your head touch their face mask or helmet, can’t accidentally touch their face mask AND NOW CANT EVEN TOUCH (not hit) a Qb near sideline because they just have to momentum fall forward and it’s a flag. Not to mention the angle of pursuit for this tackle is horizontal and he’s already in full sprint. What options do you have? Surrender let him through!??? SO HOW do you even attempt to stop a QB when your season depends on stopping him from reaching a 1st down despite all these flags? ITS DUMB. It destroys the spirit of the game. There was THROW in the game that had a bigger impact than that yellow flag. That isn’t why we have them there.
Remember that SB where Brady wore a boot all week long and pretended to be hurt? Then was perfectly fine come game time? That's the kind of player Brady is. Mahomes has too much integrity and love for the game/fans to ever do that. Not getting the shot wasn't about being 80% (a made up number from a guy who would never speak w/Mahomes) but about grit and making sure he'd know if he reinjured the ankle.

You do not intentionally touch a player already out of bounds especially a qb its ine thing if he had already gone for a tackle while he was still in bounds and is expected to stop mid air, but you thise things cause fights if you do that at any other point in the game in front of another teams bench. “Bad” intentional in what sense bad because it was against who you didn’t want to be against ? But to literally HAND them the game with a penalty. I don’t even think I’ve seen a Brady game end on a penalty. That’s why this is SO BIG. This Flag ENDED the game. @Stephanie Barron the Penalties that the refs called against the Bengals and the none calls against the chiefs change the games outcome. We all know that the officiating was terrible. Everyone knows that the outcome was a plot to get Mahomes to the super bowl. Because the officials were bias when it came down to making calls for or against the Bengals. I'm sorry, but that wasn't a far game it was one-sided. Philadelphia will take care of them in the superbowl, and Hurts will be the MVP of this season, not Mahomes.

Just purely based on the eye test Mahomes is the greatest QB I've ever seen. There are other generationally talented QBs like Burrow and Allen who are great and can make it to the superbowl. But Mahomes is in a league of his own.

Biggest one was the pass rush of that dominant defense against an extremely banged up o-line forcing mahomes out of the pocket in less than 2 seconds literally every single play, forcing him to make quicker reads. There were tons of dropped passes. The Chiefs as a whole just weren’t the better team that day. Not to mention it being a home game in a Super Bowl.

Thats pretty impressive for such a young player so new in the league. And Mahomes is just another one of those super talented freak of nature qbs that come around every once in awhile. I don't know - if Mahomes had come out there playing with a crutch under one arm, seems to me a lot of people would still be arguing he was "80%"...but what's dismissed is that Mahomes' game, the x-factor in his game, is his ability to utilize his mobility...NOT his reliance on a stout offensive line.
More pointedly - if there was a slight "edge" one (Burrows vs Mahomes) had as far as their play in this game is concerned - as far as their play over the course of their intersecting careers, for that matter- there is a pretty transparent intent by Burrows' fans to insinuate that Burrows is not just slightly, but MUCH BETTER at QB than Mahomes. And...a lot of that opinion is predicated on perceiving that QB is only played legit if played a certain way. It's one of the reasons why, for years, Black QBs were regarded as not NFL ready...because the narrative always centered around how many of them were not the "proto-typical" drop back, pocket passer QB. I see folks working pretty damn hard to make the case that Burrows is definitively better...implicitly insinuating, by default, that Mahomes is not "the real thing."

All he did was hit Brady's shoulder pad with his hand. As for the Bucs SB, yes the Bucs were no doubt the better team, but the penalties were very ticky-tack calls on KC defense. KC 11 penalties for 120 yds, Bucs 4 for 40 yds.

I mean if you see a QB running at you based on all the areas your legally allowed to hit him, especially near sideline, there’s like a 70% chance your getting flagged with all these BS protection rules. Can’t go too high near the head, can’t go too low at the legs, cant pull them down by the pads,cant make your head touch their face mask or helmet, can’t accidentally touch their face mask AND NOW CANT EVEN TOUCH (not hit) a Qb near sideline because they just have to momentum fall forward and it’s a flag. Not to mention the angle of pursuit for this tackle is horizontal and he’s already in full sprint. What options do you have? Surrender let him through!??? SO HOW do you even attempt to stop a QB when your season depends on stopping him from reaching a 1st down despite all these flags? ITS DUMB. It destroys the spirit of the game. There was THROW in the game that had a bigger impact than that yellow flag. That isn’t why we have them there.
Remember that SB where Brady wore a boot all week long and pretended to be hurt? Then was perfectly fine come game time? That's the kind of player Brady is. Mahomes has too much integrity and love for the game/fans to ever do that. Not getting the shot wasn't about being 80% (a made up number from a guy who would never speak w/Mahomes) but about grit and making sure he'd know if he reinjured the ankle.

You do not intentionally touch a player already out of bounds especially a qb its ine thing if he had already gone for a tackle while he was still in bounds and is expected to stop mid air, but you thise things cause fights if you do that at any other point in the game in front of another teams bench. “Bad” intentional in what sense bad because it was against who you didn’t want to be against ? Again you do it to yourself and then get mad about it
@Osmosis4000 Brady is the poster child of favorable calls just behind Peyton Manning. But I’ve never seen a Patriots AFC championship END on a Penalty. Like maybe mid drive they get a call to end an opponent’s drive by giving them 3rd n forever like they tried to do Burrow with that bad intentional grounding call. But to literally HAND them the game with a penalty. I don’t even think I’ve seen a Brady game end on a penalty. That’s why this is SO BIG. This Flag ENDED the game. To make it worse, Maholmes was looking for the flag. That flop made me lose respect for him just a little. Thought he was a higher pedigree than that!

@Stephanie Barron the Penalties that the refs called against the Bengals and the none calls against the chiefs change the games outcome. We all know that the officiating was terrible. Everyone knows that the outcome was a plot to get Mahomes to the super bowl. Because the officials were bias when it came down to making calls for or against the Bengals. I'm sorry, but that wasn't a far game it was one-sided. Philadelphia will take care of them in the superbowl, and Hurts will be the MVP of this season, not Mahomes.

Just purely based on the eye test Mahomes is the greatest QB I've ever seen. There are other generationally talented QBs like Burrow and Allen who are great and can make it to the superbowl. But Mahomes is in a league of his own.
