You could always get the chairs sandblasted at an auto body shop. Then ask if they have any left over paint that could be powdercoated on the chairs. My brother did that and the chairs are so well built and preserved that they will last through the apocalypse. We live in Michigan and they were done over ten years ago, and still look brand new.
Learned the auto body shop trick for metal furniture from Martha Stewart years ago.😊 Had a wrought iron table and chairs sanded and painted with a bronze automotive paint. Still looks great.
Hey Drew! Apparently some green books from the 1800s contain arsenic in the green pigment. There is something called the Poison Book Project to help people identify whether their vintage books contain arsenic.
I thought the same, I wasn't watching just listening but as soon as I heard 1800s and green then glanced up... it would be good to check as they used arsenic to create vibrant green colours which didn't exist before then
For your bed, I wouldn’t bother looking for an antique unless you can settle for a full-size. Go to Wayfair and get something that LOOKS old. Prices are great and Wayfair customer service is always outstanding.
Really loved some of those items in your haul but Drew, you NEED that stunning copper bathtub!!! You could have it outdoors and have outdoors moonlight baths! Surrounded by candles in tall wrought-iron candlestick holders!
Absolutely! What you don't need are books for $70 that you will never read. That would be like me collecting golf balls or sheet music. Just be yourself. That tub certainly seemed like you, but probably immovable & pricey.
The military shells I have don’t have that wide a base around them nor do the have the hammer strike spot and there aren’t any grooves around them like mine have.
I love thrifting video's, even when you don't find a lot or anything at all. Because of my health, I'm housebound and these type of video's make me feel like I'm there too, doing the things I loved to do!
I am not housebound per se but I do not leave my house much and do not ever go shopping. I feel the same way you do about the shopping and antique store videos, I feel like I am getting out. Due to my mental health, I just do not leave my house unless I am going to a doctor's office.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JUSTIN! ❤️🥳🎉 AND HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU BOTH. YOUR VIDEOS ALWAYS MAKE MY DAY!! What is life without money ? I think it's irrelevant. When you live, always try to invest for future moments like this to ensure profits and growth. Investing in financial market now should be in every wise individuals list.
I agree with you. I had a senior colleague at work who was living well but had never had an investment, unfortunately his job ended so he went from living well to surviving with his family. If he had an investment, he would have had another source of income. When you have family, go further.
I love the set of books, I looked up the Author William Black of Glasgow Scotland. He was trained as a landscape painter, then became a reporter, war correspondent and finally authored his novels. According to Wikipedia his books are full of descriptive landscape scenes due to his background as a painter. ( 1841 - 1898) His novels were very popular during his lifetime. That set of novels is absolutely beautiful, old books are artwork in themselves. Love your videos and thank you for taking us along on your shopping trips!
I have a pair of side lamps made from artillery shells that came from my grandfather. An intricate design was actually etched into them. They are definitely unique!
@Lone Fox I believe it's called trench art. Men in WWI and I think WWII would make things out of any materials they had when they were stuck for days in the trenches 💜💙💚🙃🧡
That little night stand is adorable. You can have it one side and one to compliment it on the other. They don't need to match but just compliment. I wish I had these stores in my town. When you walked into Big Daddy's you felt the same as I did. It was walking into a home. Love everything in there.
Decor question for you drew: So with all the pretty and unique antique pieces you’re getting, how do you add in modern things like a super comfy/homey couch (for practical reasons we all wanna lounge on a giant cozy sofa at night and watch our shows) Vintage is so gorgeous but sometimes isn’t as comfortable/cozy as more modern furniture. Im excited to see how you find the balance. If anyone can do it it’s you! I love you and your style and your personality and your work! 💕💚
I have trouble with this too. But I just watch Drews old livingroom decor videos for inspiration. Since he had his more modern couches. Mixed with old vases and older side tables. It’s so hard to do though.. Drew truly has an eye for these things. His style is beautiful. I see good pieces but I like you, I have trouble making things from different areas look cohesive. And drew just does it so easily and beautifully, it’s crazy 😂
My jaw dropped when I saw that copper bathtub. OMG I am in LOVE!! If I lived there, I would buy it and then redo my bathroom to suit it. It's so stunning!! Nothing like I have seen before.
Drew, I love you shopping videos. I enjoy seeing the items on display and the beautiful selections you make. Inspiring! Just one note - the handles on the kitchen utensils are wrought iron, not cast iron. That mirror with the arrows was also wrought iron. Wrought iron is made by heating the iron rods to red hot then hammering them by hand to form various curved, twisted and pointed shapes.
Your home is going to take years to curate. I love how you get so excited about each new find. Please sand the loose rust off the chair and seal it, add fab , down pillow or cushion to the seat and use it inside.
I think the way you do the antiquing videos is very thoughtful You show the stores you show the prices and what they're all about. If I lived in your area I would definitely love you giving me reviews on the stores. Even if you don't buy anything I still like watching your adventures and it gives me inspiration and ideas. You're One of my favorite channels on KZclip. Some things I have to be in the mood to watch but your videos I would watch anytime they don't take a lot of energy to watch and they actually inspire me and bring me so much joy.
Happy birthday Justin! And Drew: that big antique shop mixed with designer stuff which you wanted to hide in overnight : that’s something Drew would do one day ! If you ever thrifted or dealt in antiques you would own a shop like that and charm customers like me into buying things we don’t need! But love …
I love that 8 taper candle holder. It will be a great center piece for a dinning table because you can use it just as it or set a flower arrangement in the center.
I bought 6 rusty chairs with wood seats in Laguna Beach about 25 years ago for 800 or 900 dollars , we still use them in all sorts of places . They have made their way with us across the ocean to England , so glad to have them we never see anything similar here . Hope you have a very Merry Christmas Drew 🎄
@R if you read up on where tetanus comes from, it's not from rust. The bacteria is in the soil and comes from animals. It enters the body thru a cut or similar. Plus keep your tetanus vaccinations up to date if you do any sort of work with soil.
I love tagging along whether you buy something or not. I'm usually in my apartment asking you "Drew, do you really need that?" Or, "Drew, put that rusty chair in a corner or on a stair landing with an overhead light & make a moment." Just like going shopping with any good friend.
I think the brass item that you thought was a table leg and want to use as a vase might actually be an artillery shell. WWI soldiers used to turn them into candlesticks, ashtrays, vases , etc… called “trench art”.
Even if you don't buy many or any things when you go antique and thrift shopping, it is great fun to go with you and see the stores. It is mind-blowing how much is available there. I really like your taste, so the things you point the camera at are always interesting.
If I got any of these pieces I know I'd just hoard them and fawn over them forever and ever they're so gorgeous I just wouldn't have the first idea where to put everything, you have such a natural eye ! I can't wait to see how you display them! It's so exciting seeing everything coming together! The new year is going to be huge for you I know it!!!
Drew I really enjoyed you taking us on your shopping trips - you have picked amazing pieces & looking forward to see you incorporate them in your home as you decorate your home
Yes! So cute🤩 You should totally have those wire chairs blasted & powder coated; they'll last another lifetime 💯 plus they always have several color options; textures too and it's fairly reasonably priced 👍
Oh Drew, thanks for taking us along on this shopping trip, it was such fun. You have an amazing eye and I am so excitied to see your new home come together.
💚 The 4 metal chairs you picked up are ICE CREAM SHOP CHAIRS! I have had them in the past and they are so sturdy! I used mine as plant holders and the heart shape in the back always made for a good little trellis! 💚
Drew !!!.....You need to pack me in your pocket and bring me to ALL of those thrift stores !! That stained glass window omg ,I'm like no wait, go back I need to look longer lol I'm dying 💕
9:23. I have a small table very similar to the one you bought. After having it a couple of years, I cut off the legs and put it on top of a burea of the same stain color. Looks sooo cute! 😊💙 Edit: LOVE the rusty chair!!
I first started watching you way back when you did crafting vids. I do miss them but am now really enjoying your new house projects and especially your vids on shopping to dress your home. My very best wishes for the holidays and the New Year for you, your family and all those who make your channel so fun to watch! Ho, ho, ho, from Greece. 🎄🎉🕊🇬🇷
LOVING You Lone Fox! Seriously....I am so happy when i see a new upload from you. I've been following you now for a few years and when you bought your new home, I was thrilled. ONLY good things are coming you way sweet dear friend. :) Happy Holidays to you and your family and loved ones.
Drew, I love your thrifting videos! And YES you need that bathtub for sure! It was amazing. I have 6 antique ice cream chairs that came from an old underground closed for years soda fountain. They are bent wood and have to be at least 100 years old. Currently I'm trying to donate them to the Coca-Cola museum or Atlanta History Center. If not, I would be willing to give them to you if you were interested and would use them. I would be devastated if something happened to them like they went to the thrift store. They have an amazing history and deserve to be cherished. I don't get out like I uses to because I'm 61 years young and disabled. Have a great NEW YEARS and a wonderful 2023!
I think you totally need that bathtub that baby looks super super old like back from the days of kings and queens and kingdoms😁. And it’s such a beautiful copper. I think it would work so well in your house.
I stumbled on your page yesterday, think I'm in love with your content! Will be bingeing your older videos. Loved your trip to the flea market, and especially loved your brioche vest!
Happy birthday Justin. Love your amphora and that you can go into an antiques store that is playing The Bee Gees and Electric Light Orchestra! Merry Christmas Drew and thank you for all your content which is keeping this London gal inspired.
Happy birthday, Justin! I hope it was a great one. I enjoy these thrifting/antiquing videos so much. I'm so proud of you young people for buying secondhand.
Those chair would have been in a ice cream shop. My uncle have a ice cream shop and had 5 sets of these in the shop with tables. When he closed his shop he gave a set to each of his siblings. My sister has the set he gave to our father. I love it.
You always find something unique and beautiful in those overcrowded shops and flea markets…my favourites were the mixed metal utensils, the sweet nightstand and the little clay pot, with the red in it.
Thank you for sharing your creativity with us. Thank you for kindness to others. Just started watching Elysia English's recent vid and it reminded me of how you helped her, her family and channel. You are a very good human. Blessings to you and yours, Drew.
Drew , this was so fun to go shopping with you! I for one appreciate your sharing locations and names for the shops . I now know where to go for my dining room chandelier that I have been looking for , for years! Thank you, I’m just down the coast from you. Also, what I enjoyed the most was your joy and happiness, you have the best smile and sparkle to your gorgeous eyes! Btw, love house your home is curating. I’m learning so much. ❤️🐝
That outdoor table set you found with the glass top was really nice and a really good price !! That copper bathtub was amazing !! with that little copper sink .. those little wire chairs are bistro chairs...
Wow! I need that copper 🛀. I ❤️ seeing all the cool antique stores. I remember going to a little tavern on the Chippewa River in Wisconsin that had those same exact wire heart chairs and matching tables. As a young child, I thought they were the 🐝 knees. 😎
Love your antique store trips. You totally inspire me to work on our house. Also...I've become addicted to candlestick holders since watching your videos. :-)
Happy birthday, Justin and happy holidays to you and Drew. I have had such fun watching you two go antiquing this past year, especially from the time you bought your lovely house. I’m a retiree living alone and can’t wait for your posts to poo up in my feed. My very best wishes to you & your family for a wonderful new year. Bless you. 🙏🙏🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🎄🎉🕊🕊🕊🕊
I think watching people Antique shop is so much fun! Its so cool to see so many awesome pieces in the background. Just the store with all those rugs and lamps... I melted away just looking at those wooden mirrors! So cool. Recently I do quite a bit of thrifting for antiques. Today I picked up a Cherrywood Armchair from the 1920´s for only 50 bugs. The colour of the wood is chipping away a little and I likely need to replace the whole upsolstery, but the wooden Frame alone is so extremely pretty. Last Month I Picked up a big Antique Buffet from 1870-1890 in incredible well condition for only 300 Euros! Needed to hoist the thing out of the 4th floor into my dads Van but it was totally worth it lol. All of these old furniture pieces are often times still very stable and only need a little love to look amazing. And the quality is just so much better then a lot of brand new furniture.
You asked "Do I need this bathtub?" and my immediate, unquestioning answer was "Yes." If that is not a Lone Fox bathtub, I don't know what is.
Metal tubs lose heat so quickly. Esthetic yes. Practical no
Yes the bathtub. Go get it. I d put anywhere not in bathroom. Imagine outdoor.
Yes you need a tub! I am currently building a bathing space in my secret garden complete with cast iron tub.
I think so too he should have definitely gotten the bathtub soooo gorgeous
You could always get the chairs sandblasted at an auto body shop. Then ask if they have any left over paint that could be powdercoated on the chairs. My brother did that and the chairs are so well built and preserved that they will last through the apocalypse. We live in Michigan and they were done over ten years ago, and still look brand new.
@John Pruden But rust is corrosive, right? It's eating away at the metal and will eventually destroy it.
What a great idea!
@Marsha Stopa I did my tub that way at a sandblasting place.
Oh my gawd this is an amazing idea!!
Learned the auto body shop trick for metal furniture from Martha Stewart years ago.😊 Had a wrought iron table and chairs sanded and painted with a bronze automotive paint. Still looks great.

Floating candles sets a mood too.
@Lone Fox I agree! When you questioned whether you should buy, I said YES!! It is GORGEOUS! LOVE the sculptured design. Now I want one!
👌👌👌👌
The brass vase could also be a military shell.
Great finds Drew.
My first thought as well :D
We have a couple too .
I do agree
It really does look like a military shell casing. That was my first thought.
The military shells I have don’t have that wide a base around them nor do the have the hammer strike spot and there aren’t any grooves around them like mine have.

I'm telling Drew u said that. So sweet!
The antique scene looks amazing in LA. So many unique hidden treasures to find. I love when you take us along with you!

Yes thank you for the background info I'm very excited you look up the author because I was thinking about it too
Maybe you'll actually be inspired to read the books.
A gorgeous set!
Thank you so much on this background info! This is incredible
The wire chairs are called "ice cream chairs" They were found at ice cream stores at the turn of the century. ( I think) LOL!
My Mother called her’s soda fountain chairs. There were also matching small tables that went with these chairs.
Love your brass finds!!
I think so too. Ice cream parlor chairs.
Ice cream "parlour "chairs.
Aw i love this!
The brass vase looks like an artillery shell casing! It is going to look amazing in your space!
I have a pair of side lamps made from artillery shells that came from my grandfather. An intricate design was actually etched into them. They are definitely unique!
🇨🇦…trench art is so collectible! Merry Merry to you from Victoria BC. Love the ice cream parlour chairs and a GREAT price!❤️🇨🇦
@Lone Fox I believe it's called trench art. Men in WWI and I think WWII would make things out of any materials they had when they were stuck for days in the trenches 💜💙💚🙃🧡
Oh wow! I have seen a few people comment this and that is so interesting

Me too! I would get it in a heartbeat no matter the cost😍 absolutely stunning!
YES! You NEED that copper bathtub Drew!!! Or one like it 😊

Just like going shopping with any good friend.
The brass vase is an artillery shell casing. Many people revamp them into what is called Trench Art.
Am I the only one that loves the chairs as they are? A matte clearcoat and … perfect!
That antique bath tub was to die for
Here in Michigan, that rusty chair would be free 😂 Either sitting on the side of the road or in a thrift store at the main entrance Lol
I think the brass item that you thought was a table leg and want to use as a vase might actually be an artillery shell. WWI soldiers used to turn them into candlesticks, ashtrays, vases , etc… called “trench art”.
Your brass "vase" might be a trench art shell. Loved all the things you bought!!
I am so falling in-love with your home you bought! The home is blessed to have you, as it's new owner!
'The home is blessed to have you' such a sweet compliment and so true!
True
Even if you don't buy many or any things when you go antique and thrift shopping, it is great fun to go with you and see the stores. It is mind-blowing how much is available there. I really like your taste, so the things you point the camera at are always interesting.
Drew yes get the tub. I instantly thought you would make it into an amazing out door statement, with some kind of flowers, greenery, etc.
I love those shops you are going into I would spend the whole day looking in them all xx
Don’t you just love those “died and gone to heaven “ type places? That store was amazing !! ❤
I love your cheerfulness and passion for what you are creating. Merry Christmas 🎄
McCenna would LOVE that book set. Ya know how she shops for great looking old books! ❤️❤️
LOVE the copper bathtub!
Love the trips to the antique and thrift stores of LA! Keep them coming!
If I got any of these pieces I know I'd just hoard them and fawn over them forever and ever they're so gorgeous I just wouldn't have the first idea where to put everything, you have such a natural eye ! You & Justin 🙂 are so fun to spend time with. You go girls!!!
Yes, share every Thrift Store! It’s fun to watch you shop.
I love love love all the pieces you selected Drew🧡🧡
When you said you could live in Big Daddy Antiques, I felt that. What a beautiful store.
The antique store looks literally like a magical fairytale place omg 😭 10:44
Drew !!!.....You need to pack me in your pocket and bring me to ALL of those thrift stores !! That stained glass window omg ,I'm like no wait, go back I need to look longer lol
I'm dying 💕
Drew,
Alot of people do thrift videos but yours are by far the best. Thanks for taking me along.
Dear Drew, I thoroughly enjoy antiquing and thrifting with you. Your reactions are so genuine. Happy Christmas Eve and Merry Christmas 🎄🎼🎄
Thank you for all your content Drew. Your caring and fun persona makes my day every time you post. Merry Christmas 🎄 ❤
Love the $20 tapered candle holder, when you showed it in the store I was hoping you would purchase it!
I just wanna spend the day with him and go shopping. Sigh. Such beautiful things.
Love how you call everything 'cute'! Even utilitarian kitchen utensils or cast iron candle holders that look like they belong in a medieval dungeon.
Drew, your excitement is infectious. You have a good eye for things. ❤️
9:23. I have a small table very similar to the one you bought. After having it a couple of years, I cut off the legs and put it on top of a burea of the same stain color. Looks sooo cute! 😊💙
Edit: LOVE the rusty chair!!
I first started watching you way back when you did crafting vids. I do miss them but am now really enjoying your new house projects and especially your vids on shopping to dress your home. Please keep thrifting and sharing your trips. I'm living vicariously through you! LOL
Wow! I have 2 of those brass looking C shaped candle holders. The ones with the 3 flowers sets. Let me know if you would like more on the cheap!

I think you totally need that bathtub that baby looks super super old like back from the days of kings and queens and kingdoms😁. And it’s such a beautiful copper. I think it would work so well in your house.
I LIVE VICARIOUSLY THROUGH YOUR FLEA MARKET/ antique shopping expeditions, Drew! 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Happy Birthday Justin! Drew, I love love love when you take us along on you antique and thrifting trips! ❤️
I stumbled on your page yesterday, think I'm in love with your content! Will be bingeing your older videos. Loved your trip to the flea market, and especially loved your brioche vest!
Happy Birthday Justin !! And Drew, the minute your video came on I said out loud, "He's so dear." Enjoy Christmas and thank you for the fun video !
Great haul! Especially the wire bistro chairs! I don't know about that other metal chair, I'd leave outside with plants and let continue to weather.
I so love tagging along with you whilst you are shopping for antiques. That copper tub. Gorgeous!!
Love the antique videos! 😃
Big Daddy's Thrift place looked AMAZING! If I lived there I would definitely be checking it out!
Happy birthday Justin. Love your amphora and that you can go into an antiques store that is playing The Bee Gees and Electric Light Orchestra! Merry Christmas Drew and thank you for all your content which is keeping this London gal inspired.
Happy birthday!! Always enjoy watching you thrift!❤ almost feel like I’m there with you.
Happy birthday Justin 🎉
Ah I thought the Bath was amazing. Imagine polishing that up! It could be a real statement piece in a bathroom 😊
Happy birthday, Justin! I hope it was a great one. I enjoy these thrifting/antiquing videos so much. I'm so proud of you young people for buying secondhand.
I love to thrift. Keep taking us along, please.

Drew: "Look how delicate that is!"
Me: *briefly imagines it falling onto my head*
My friend has a Spanish home and has giant wrought iron candlesticks by her fireplace. They look gorgeous!
Love going with you on ur shopping trips!!
Even if you don’t find much, please take us along! Great finds btw!!
Love the brass kitchen utensils❤
Thank you for taking us thrifting with you. Love thrifting as well, because there are so many interesting pieces at these types of stores.
Love your honesty about pricey antique stores. You continue to make videos on everything you want lol. I enjoy your enthusiasm. Thank you 🙏🏼🌹🌟😊
Drew that "brass table leg" as you called it is a casing to a military shell as in AMMO ! Merry Christmas to you and all the family !!
Happy Birthday Justin.❤🎉 Love flea market shopping.🎉Love the two kitchen pieces.Everything you purchased is adorable. This was fun. Until next time🎉❤😊
Drew, your enthusiasm always makes me smile. Merry Christmas!
