The thing people don't get is all the minutes he has and if you add up how much more moving a wing has to do compared to a big man in terms of moving up and down defending shooting fastbreaks ect he's got the most mileage by far of anyone ever...and it's not close

Despite James missing 10 games this season, he has already surpassed Abdul-Jabbar's point total during his entire 20th and final season. James scored 1,010 points in 34 games in 2022-23; Abdul-Jabbar scored 748 for the 1988-89 season.

@Mark Darnell no I’m saying I don’t care as I’m the fact it doesn’t diminish Bron.

    • Zam
      Zam 2 ай бұрын

@Mark Darnell before you come back with an argument, just look at what you said: he shot around 2,000 3-pointers right? What percentage he shoot those at? And what percent does he shoot two pointers at? Now simply replace threes with the twos, and adjust it for a two-point field goal percentage and you'll notice that he would generate more points on twos on those same possessions. The problem with YOUR logic is that you simply want to erase those three point attempts, which is physically impossible because those possessions actually exist. So during those possessions he either has to shoot a two-pointer instead (and make or miss it), or pass to his teammates (generating more assists). You can't simply remove those offensive possessions from history.

    • Zam
      Zam 2 ай бұрын

@Mark Darnell actually his 3pt shooting has cost him about 500 pts over his career. He shoots a much higher percent from two, so if you replace all of his 3-point attempts over his career with two point attempts, he would end up having 500 more points and already have passed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar without a single 3 pointer. The reason he shoots three-pointers is to space the floor and create passing opportunities and driving opportunities, so it's part of his offense but not for scoring as you put it.

    • Mark Darnell
Mark Darnell 2 ай бұрын +1

@PokerRich GM I totally agree. Most of the folks in this thread are hating on me because I brought up how LeBron is passing Kareem, and I'm just acknowledging how players dominated in their era and they don't want to read. But I totally agree with you.

@Aiman Right, these people trying to downplay his achievements for LONGEVITY honestly don't realize how foolish they look to those with critical thinking skills. It's not like this man is in year 20 and barely scoring 10 ppg like Kareem, 6ppg like KG, or even 17ppg on 35% shooting like Kobe. He's in year 20 and AVERAGING 29PPG, 8RPG, AND 7APG ON 51% SHOOTING!!! As you said, longevity in and of itself is an achievement because this has NEVER happened in NBA history and is most likely to never happen again.
These haters need to go somewhere with that BS. Every time I read the comments on a LBJ video I sneeze because I'm allergic to hater BS.

The only players from the 02-04 drafts still in the nba besides bron are undrafted haslem who barley plays minutes when he does get time usually in garbage time vs third stringers who didn't play much at all the past 6 years and iggy who due to injuries has barely played this year...and has avg like 2.5 ppg in a few games not many minutes...that just tells you how special bron is

Both things can be true: (1) It's amazing to see an athlete push their body past what is expected for that sport and deliver a great game for the fans and (2) That athlete prioritizes playing against bottom-tier teams because the athlete is chasing a top-tier accomplishment. Does that mean Bron couldn't drop 48 against other teams? No, but it's very likely he'd need to put in a TON more work and risk injury and/or lower his shot efficiency, which could end in a loss. We've spent the last ~10 years debating emotionally, maybe this year (23, anyone?) can be the restart of logical thinking.

After missing all these games Lebron leads in Points made in 4th quarter + percentage in this season, So Skip saying Lebron Plays only 3 quarter is false. And skip saying Lebron hitting 35 percent from three is worst player, But Jordan shooting 44 percent in jumpshot is the greatest scorer. To put it perspective every 100 shots
    Lebron makes 35 3pt shots so 35 *3= 105 points
    MJ makes 44 2pt shots so 44*3= 88 points
These old heads who believe MJ is a better scorer is totally false. That's not accurate at all..

    • Sir Girthington
      Sir Girthington 2 ай бұрын

@Fabricio Braga dude I love MJ but what world are you living in? MJ statistically is better in PPG, FT%, and SPG, and slightly fewer TOs. lebron avgs more assists, more rebounds, better FG%, better 3pt%, lebron has more win shares and TS%, higher VORP. I get it, 6-0, and as far as INDIVIDUAL achievement, they're so close it's come down to a matter of opinion. But to say it's a landslide either way, or that MJ has way better stats, is ridiculous.

    • Crème de la Crème
Crème de la Crème 2 ай бұрын

@Fabricio Braga lol . No way. You are just talking about peak vs peak, and even in those peaks, most folks still acknowledge Lebron freak of nature was a better overall player than MJ, just not as successful as MJ (due to various circumstances in Jordan's favor, like stability with same team and great teammates and HOF coach). Only true haters would ignore what Lebron is STILL doing in his 20th season at 38yo, long after lesser and prior greats have RETIRED. It's not Lebron's fault that MJ could only handle 15 seasons, at most 11 of which were great seasons (played too few games in '85-'86 and '94-'95 seasons, and his play during two years w/ Wizards was meh).
Lebron already has NINE more seasons as a top player than MJ. Needs just TWO more to double MJ's total of high-level seasons. In other words, enough for TWO GOAT-ish lifetimes in the NBA. Hate all you want, but that is damn significant for the GOAT debate.
Lebron is THIRD all-time in +/- behind only Jokic and Jordan. Lebron leads Lakers in +/- and is CURRENTLY 6th in the ESPN player ratings, ahead of even Durant (!), Curry (!), Tatum (!), Gigeous-Alexander, Lillard, Siakam, Morant, Harden, Mitchell, Young, Williamson, Lillard, and Booker. In year 20 at 38yo. Wow.
Jordan had his greatness his way, and Lebron is shining very, very bright his own way. GOAT James, yes sir!

Jordan averaged 3 3point attempts in his career, three pointers don't make you the GOAT, and calling LBJ the GOAT doesn't make him one. 80% of people say MJ is the GOAT and beats LBJ in every stat imaginable, when MJ played point guard when his was hurt avg 37.5/15reb/13 assists. Curry got 4 chips during this dudes reign, once MJ won no one won for 10 yrs except him when he played a full season and 2 3 peats smh, Sit down and don't comment.
