Instead of stringing up the flower, Pearl could always use glow lichen to stop snow appearing on the flower. It doubles as a small lighting source to stop mobs from spawning as well.

I think that it would be interesting if certain things had an effect that stopped snow formation in a radius around it (including when the light they generate doesn't reach the place).
Like no snow would generate around a magma block, or lava source, or lava cauldron in a 6 blocks radius, even if the magma or lava was completely covered by other blocks.
You could still be able to place snow manually.

@Redhead_Bebs oh yeah i know that, but imo doing this on the flower will be ugly

    • Redhead_Bebs
      Redhead_Bebs Ай бұрын +2

@dekcraft2 Hi, yes. I don't think that matters because snow can't form on a block that has glow lichen on top of it... Because the glow lichen is there... That is why Gem's build doesn't have any snow on it... She put glow lichen across all of her roofs.

The banners are for measuring the flow-through of air in the tunnel, like in Ghibli's Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. The correct flow of air is important for making sure that alien spores don't embed in the tunnel, like they have in the storage room.

Nausicaa is a good shout, because a story where human civilization gets overrun by a massive poisonous spore super forest seems highly relevant here.

I actually really love the relaxed building vibe of the episode! Loved seeing you talk through your building process as you did it, and seeing where the ideas came from instead of just a timelapse. Don't get me wrong, timelapses are awesome, but I love changing it up with more episodes like this in the future too! Also love the tunnel, it looks gorgeous!

I've been reading a bunch of HP Lovecraft lately, and it gave me an interesting idea for your base lore; the alien landscape is actually an unchecked infestation originating from the giant flower, which came to the planet as a spore inside a mysterious meteorite ☄ this infection could also be the cause of undead mobs, a sort of fungal infection similar to The Last of Us 🤓 if you decide you like this enough to add it in, you could put said meterorite somewhere beneath the giant alien flower, maybe around a zombie spawner if you're lucky enough to have one down there 🤞

The Soup Group has such amazing chemistry together, and you all have your own areas of expertise.
Have you guys thought about working together to add little tutorial bits here and there in your episodes?
You and Gem could teach Impulse about terraforming, and organic builds, and texturing, and things like that, and he could teach you about how t-flip-flops work or how to make a door with a keycard system or make a vending machine.
I know that you all aren't completely oblivious about each other's special areas, (you are all hermits after all) but it would add an interesting new spin on tutorials if you have a student who can build along with you and ask questions, instead of you guys just talking to the camera.

Honestly, I do seriously enjoy the occasional "Just building" videos as well. It shows some progress and also allows us to think along and get in your head a little bit.
I seriously do love the tunnel! And the rooms added are most definitely an interesting little addition which makes a lot of sense. Even the copper looks really good! I think it might actually be a nice addition to have the occasional copper block be unaltered altogether. And maybe even a few that are fully aged so it blends more with it all as well.
Oh and for the storage room, I think if you move the chests back by one block, that it will make it feel just a bit more spacious in there. Without you sacrificing anything in terms of accesability and such. Plus some hidden lighting underneath the chests can always be a nice addition as well.
Love the video. As I always do. Keep up the amazing work Pearl!

      jcofortco Ай бұрын +1

(: I LIKE the thought of the chests being moved back. However - ugh, lol - thats a Whole Lotta Breakage! I was thinking she could get the effect you've proposed by instead perhaps "building out" the walls inbetween the chest sections as well as above them to get a nice recessed look... also could create a very soft arch look to the sections complimenting those in center of room.

An idea for the tunnel: Have a dwarven train or trolly on the bridge that goes through the Alien tunnel, basically the aliens and the dwarves work together. Dwarves farm the minerals and resources that are then transported via train through the tunnel the aliens cleared out that are then traded. I say this too cause the path you have looks like its meant for a railroad, and it could be a fun Collab with impulse!

    • Jbelo55
      Jbelo55 Ай бұрын

@Sorry_I_MissClicked Ya that makes sense! didnt know the relationship with the aliens and the dwarves, I don't remember the lore all to well :p

    • Sorry_I_MissClicked
      Sorry_I_MissClicked Ай бұрын +1

I definitely like this idea, but isn't the tunnel a human area? What if one of the reasons the dwarfs are underground is because of the alien life, and the dwarfs send trains or trolleys to try and help the humans, that way it fits with the lore Pearl gave us, and still has the collab element with impulse. I really like your idea though, I never would have thought of it!
Edit: Oh wait never mind, the humans are gone, I didn't realize this. Yeah I love your idea, it would be really cool looking!

@Empress Pyra I thought the same thing with the armor stands honestly! But with 3 mega bases right next to each other adding in armor stands might make it to laggy. For me though if any of the bases do a Cleo armor stand scene, its gotta be Scarland!

    • Empress Pyra
      Empress Pyra Ай бұрын +13

Sweet idea :) and maybe the dwarf bodies are more immune to the effect the Alien stuffs had on the humans - another idea I had was- what if the soup crew had "base buddy" zombie cleo armour scene for example cooking in a kitchen together, crafting stuff together in a forge or sat around a table having a tea party :) that would super add life to all the bases and areas "roll play in a roleplay deal"
I've been missing soup crew collabs :) so I hope this makes it to the other two and I hope you and everyone who recieves this message enjoys ^_^

  • Callum Williamson

I love how the tunnel is shaping, just finished watching.
    Couple of aesthetic suggestions:
In your storage room, have you considered arches going across each section too? So it feels like each section is its own room?
Equally, in each section of chests, maybe have a darker stair or two, to make it look like a broken/destroyed and decrepit chest?
Lastly, the copper in the tunnel, i’d suggest making the tunnel openings more blue, whilst the middle should be more orange. It would make it look like there is less oxygen in the middle, like an old cave?
    Loved the vid!!!

On the question of who we’d like to see more interactions with:
A few of my favorite hermits are already somewhat part of your frequently interacted circles, with the boatem crew/soup group/king Ren’s court and whatnot. But another of my top favorite hermits, Zedaph, is a bit outside of those circles for the most part, and he’s always in for a fun time, so as far as those you don’t interact with as much, I think he’s a great option!

i think with the bridge being wider, it makes more sense to not add back the rope style, because that looked better on the slimmer bridge whereas if we're trying to open the bridge up its best to keep it open. i loved the tunnel, you see a lot of these types of builds and they get repetitive after the first 2-3, but i love how unique your entire area is! I'd love to see you interacting with Cleo again. I did suggest to her that she randomise Jevin's storage as part of their prank war - could be more profit for the cleaning lady!

Pearl! How cool would it be if part of the tunnel has caved in on one side? maybe a natural skylight has formed and allowed alien plant life to flourish? love what you've done so far, most impressive build this season imo

It’d be amazing if you and Impulse finally tackled decorating the river between your bases. It could use a lil love 💕

You mentioned wondering how people were feeling about this kind of episode, and figured I had some insight that might help. I love the casual building episodes as the smaller projects are something I (as someone who only plays minecraft a couple of times a week) can achieve in a decent time, plus being up close and personal with the blocks really inspires me to want to open Minecraft and start building. However the episodes where you kinda mess with other hermits are definitely my favorite as there's a bit of a story usually, forcing me to stay engaged with the video rather than clicking off the tab and leaving it to run in the background.

Loved the focus on building and getting to see the process! This episode reminded me at times of one of those home renovation shows, especially when revamping the bridge and entrance.

This tunnel ended up looking amazing. You were right, one month ago, to leave yourself time to think and find better ideas. Love it.

I like how the tunnel aestetic fits in with the entrance that Impulse has in his Dwarven keep. It makes for interesting lore speculation. Did the Dwarves and Humans cooperate/intermix to some extent?

Don't know what could you do exactly, but, as somebody else here in the comment have suggested, you and Tango appear to have such a funny little gremlin synergy (positive meaning, of course :D) I know he's always down for participating in whatever thing/project/prank that makes other people laugh

It’s so hard to only come at once, lol Very excited for the humanoid section soon to come I’m hoping you’ll take inspiration from the last of us play-through, your ability to build in that style is above the rest

Its good to get some more relaxed video's. They don't all have to be crazy shenanigans.
When it comes to who to interact with, continue with the increased frequency for Gem and Impulse. Fill in the rest of the cast one at a time...set a goal for a good interaction with each other active hermit by some day.
