Started rewatching the series. Just finished season 4. I think I'll stop there and pretend it just ends with Arrya, Tyrion, and Varys sailing away forever. What a great show.
@Fr Kd Season 5 fails with Dorne and Jaime, plus you start to see Tyrions dialogue get flatter, though in that season you can at least blame the drinking and that he’s given up on life for the first half of the season. S5 also treats Sansa as a punching bag. S6 also has lots of rough areas within it, but how it ends feels better than S4 in my opinion. Battle of the Bastards is entertaining and ends with Jon & Sansa taking Winterfell back. Dany is finally sailing for Westeros. Cersei blows up a lot of characters and part of the city. Arya’s storyline falls flat in S6, as well as Theon, and Bran’s storyline has the tear jerker with Hodor, but they kill Summer off so quickly without emotion and since we don’t see him in S5 his training with the three eyed raven feels rushed and not earned
I think season 5 it's ok but season 6 makes you start questioning in what direction this show is gonna go. And it goes in the worst possible direction so... yeah.
Seasons 1-4 are peak television. Seasons 5-6 are good, but clearly a step down from the first 4. Season 7 is bad, but at least rewatchable (though I don’t recommend, stop at S6). Season 8 for me isn’t even rewatchable. I tried once and didn’t even get halfway through the first episode, it’s an open wound forever.
What maddens me is that the story was always grounded in political truths: a ruler cannot be strong if succession is not assured, which is why Dany was targeted by assassins and Joffrey's illegitimacy mattered. Suddenly a Targaeryan with a legitimate claim on the throne can be banished on a promise not to come back and contest things and a king can be appointed who can never produce a dynasty - guaranteeing the civil war will start again when Bran dies. Nice one 👍
I don't think this is established in the show verbally, so it doesn't necessarily excuse this. But I always thought that the succession after Bran and beyond would be a kind of Witan, which, although often electing the eldest (or any son) of the previous King, was able to elect any eligible King, it doesn't necessarily preclude a civil war but nor does a straight succession truly if there are multiple sons
@INTpleb it doesn't even have to be clever. Jon is the male heir. He technically killed Dany who was a usurper since the rightful heir Jon was still alive. He broke no laws by killing her and should've immediately been crowned king.
@R Vera 100% legacy. It made no sense for 2 Starks to rule the north and south, and the south to have an impotent king that couldn't produce heirs. That leads to warfare and why a Queen bearing sons was always so important. Daughters weren't ideal, but they could reign if all else failed and preserve peace. Jon and Dany would have been able to unite both the north and south with their bloodlines, but Jon and Sansa/Arya would have achieved the same result if Dany was destined to die. So many viable and interesting options but they went with Bran the Boring... -.-
I’ve been reading up a lot on the Wars of the Roses… which GoT is kinda based on (dynastic wars due to crisis in succession). Problem for a TV show is its theme doesn’t conclude… the wheel never breaks! And the writers had no way of imagining a way out of that conundrum. Same with George M. should Dany rule? Why? Should jon? Why? The only conclusion to war is legacy. Which is why Return of the King ending was so boring.
Dude, same and well said. It's pointless and stupid to have a Stark on one throne and a Stark on the other. The point? Especially when one can't breed wtf... The best way to fix that would be to have the actual classic hero (Jon Snow) with the legitimate claim to the throne defeat the Night King, saving all mankind, and having the stealth assassin (Arya Stark) or the trusted hand (Tyrion) take out the mad queen in one of their clever fashions. This would leave Jon open to taking the reigns alongside his cousin Sansa, uniting the entire continent of wildings, northerners, and southern Targaryen loyalists. If the eunuch army got their panties in a twist, then Melisandre could have used Jon's kings blood to awaken one of the stone dragons on Dragonstone, easily wiping out the foreign threat. Uniting the Stark and Targaryen houses is what will bring stability and peace to the entire realm. Literally everyone but the "writers" knew this, but I guess subverting expectations gave them a bigger boner than writing a cohesive and satisfying story that dozens of people dedicated over a decade of their lives to create.
@Mitchell Bowman No, they quit Star Wars for Netflix. There was no mention of them getting fired. I'm happy for them. They did a great job with GOT and the Star Wars fandom is toxic.
@Briana that might be what they want you to think but they were fired specifically for how they botched the end of GOT. The awhile later they got a Netflix deal
Being bad is one thing. But being so incredibly awful that it actually manages to ruin all the good seasons that came before it, is almost impressive. I loved the show before season 8 (And yes, I know S7 was flawed). But after the ending I haven't been interested in rewatching a single episode, and actually gave my DVD's away in a charity shop. They destroyed the entire show with this ending. I can think of no other show that has ever achieved that.
@Swanvictor idk about that my dude it was ok and correctly aligned with the myths king Arthur died in after defeating the evil army and merlin got rid of the sword and hid until his eventual resurrection
@Brian McConnell Kathleen Kennedy has fired a lot of competent writers because they weren’t woke like her. She fired the original Solo directors, who went on to direct Into the Spiderverse.

This. It was a huge hype, with merchandise, T-Shirts, fans discussing every episode - and then it just - disappeared. As if it never happened. The end destroyed the entire thing.
I have a bunch of fond memories watching the show and it had a big impact on what I expect from a well written story. But knowing that everything in the show is leading up to this.... I just can't bring myself to even consider re watching it and I don't feel much desire interacting with the rest of the associated media or discussions about it either. It's definitely weird though, how seemingly an entire slice of my life has effectively been deleted. A real shame.
The ending to this show was so bad i forgot it even existed. Literally everyone i knew was always talking about this show... and then the last season happened, and everyone pretended the show never existed. They managed to remove it from everyones mind, which is an insane accomplishment when the show used to be good

It's like two years and the ending of this show still hurts. Also, dang, it has been quite fascinating to behold how this single and awful season basically nuked GoT of any Pop culture reference and talks. The world went to lock down, and not ONCE was GoT (at least the early seasons) trending, way to completely annihilate your show.
@Lemuria GameDev Hit the nail on the head there. What a tragedy though,GoT will be remember as the biggest disappointment in TV Show history ever and they had stiff competition with Dexter (dunno about the new season), HIMYM. BSG, Lost and True Blood.
@Fred Tott They spent 2 years desperately searching for a good idea. Then they decided "fuck it, we have a contract, let's just shoot whatever bullshit we can come up with"
It was actually impressive what the writers actually did. They created the most amazing TV show to exist, they may not even be able to make one that is better. And then they destroyed it in an also insanely amazing way that they destroyed its legacy and memory with it. There are very few shows or films that have ever self-destructed so amazingly well.
They did not create anything they bought someone else's intellectual property and turned it into a TV show. It's like me making a mod for Skyrim to turn into a multiplayer game and then saying I created the best video game in existence.
Don't be so disheartened buddy. GOT was basically the best show I've ever seen before they ruined it but since then I've watched plenty of pretty amazing stuff that managed to be good throughout. I'm sure you'll find something you love again, hopefully something that has already ended and is still good?

@Henrique Silva Azor Ahai _was_ probably an ancestor of the Targaryens. The prophecy of the price that was promised was nothing more than a propagandists reinterpretation of long-passed history.
The story of the rise and fall of GoT is like a Greek tragedy. It was at one point the most fucking incredible show to have existed, that had the biggest fanbase in the world who were obsessed with endless theories about how it would end. Wherever you went, GoT would come up in conversation as casually as football. It was a phenomenon, lightning in a bottle. It was arguably the biggest pop culture touchstone of the 2010`s. And then season 8 happened. In just a handful of episodes they managed to completely crumble the towering monolith they had built. GoT was now a joke, and will forever be remembered as thus. It was so bad it made us question if the show was ever really good from the get go. And if was all because of the staggering hubris of the show's creators and the laziness of the original author. Even if it had stuck the landing in a bumpy way, the show still would have been remembered as an amazing achievement. But they didn't so much land, as more like crash to earth and torch the entire runway. Thus it will remain as a cautionary tale to all those who want to know how not to finish a series.
Season 8 was probably the most disappointing thing I've ever been through in my life. Just years of loving the show, reading the books, obsessing over it, just to end like shit.

A saving grace of this whole mess is that it's going to be VERY difficult for any studio with a lick of common sense to ever give Weiss and Benihoff work, much less trust them to helm a series or movie ever again and they'll have little opportunity to ever ruin something like this again without being scrutinized and supervised every step of the way. They burnt their own bridges.
Lol I think not. There is a studio that gave a show with 55(!!!) years of legacy behind it to a guy that made Transformers 2, trust me when I say they will get hired again, there is no common sense in today's studios. I am just happy they got fired by an equally incompetent Disney's Kennedy, I mean how bad can you be at what you do to be given the sack by today's Disney management lol.
@Leon Robinson one does hope they will serve as a lesson though.... there has to be something good coming from this... please give anything good....lol
It seems unbelievable that Greyworm and the Unsullied, would just blindly follow Dany after her actions in season 8. I get that they are loyal to her because she freed them. But they went on to follow her because she was good. After she goes crazy, you'd have thought her army would still have the same mental state as before
I can never forgive how they turned Tyrion, one of the most interesting, clever and witty characters into a whatever he was by the end of GoT. Its the only purpose he was there was because he was a fan favorite and needed to be on the screen for that purpose only. He was basically turned into an empty uniform that said whatever was needed for whatever shitty plot point they were trying to do in a specific episode
@Ackalan seasons 1-4 were good, then they ran out of the book material and it all went to shit, not to mention they were left unsupervised by GRRM Also BTW if you're 'not into modern storytelling' what are you even doing on the channel that's all about it? You should probably be on the channel about Shakespearean plays or something
They kept around just to deliver the who has a better story than bran line. They thought the Tyrion fan base would just accept that line cuz he delivered it, I think they knew if he didn't deliver it literally NO ONE would have bought. I mean not many did buy it....
At season three: Friend: Do you watch GoT? It's amazing. Me: Nah, I'm not into modern story telling. Friend: This is different, it's so good, you'll like it. At season seven: *Crickets* After ending: Me: So should I watch GoT? Friend: *Grumbles*
@Fun Size Yes I agree, even George Martin said they were rushing the show in season 8. Probably because they had another film to produce. I agree about that part, but people are also forgetting to give credit to the hundreds of actors, artists, crew, and people before season 8, at least give them the credit they deserve. The whole Game of Thrones film doesn't have to be scrapped because of a final episode issue. Its unsettling, but perhaps there is ways to make it up in the next seasons. However I don't want them to take away the very thing that made Game of Thrones Unique, which is its Historical representation of a completely fictional story, with many realistic aspects that you can find in history from Ancient times to Medieval times. The last thing, which is the true humaneness of all the characters makes it unlike any other show, if they take that away, it will not be Game of Thrones, it will just be another Marvel style representation of a medieval story. I like the story for what other films don't have, that depth and complexity.. The new film is showing High Renaissance costumes when the first of the show represented Greek style costumes how could that happen? Why does the new film seem so much more mythical and less representational? As George said before, he didnt want something so over whelmed by magic that is takes away the humanness too it, and he wanted to continue to represent historical aspects to it as we could delve into the raw truth of what it might have been like back then, from a whole new stand point, a story never told before. Only someone who knows history like him could have ever meshed those things together so well as he did. This is where I feel the new films are going to fail as I mentioned before about costuming and CGI use, as well as the dragons look less realistic.
@brittany ritenour but it wasn't just one episode, it was the entirety of the eighth season. The writers couldn't have made it more obvious they were sick of the show. Half of the events only happened because the characters were suddenly rendered absolute idiots (Dany supposedly "forgot" about the Iron Fleet? Seriously?) There's not much I could say about that abysmal final season that hasn't already been said. The quality of the writing took a drastic dip after they ran out of source material to adapt, but season eight was the crowning turd.
@Phantom Shadowfax when you just lay it out like plot points like Bran ending up as king or Dany turning evil they are all plausible, just not in the shitty way show did it
you might want to give it shot. its not nearly as bad if you paid close attention the entire series. if you're one of the people that didnt know Jon was a Targaryen until the show literally spelled it out than maybe you shouldnt bother.. but if that was obvious to you like it was to many other than Dany being evil shouldn't be a surprise and neither should Bran being on the Throne. the Major plot points that people complain about just shows how shallow such a massive audience can be. i will say the script was lazy and the way they ended minor characters like Varys and Brienne were horrid.. definately worse than evil Daenerys.. evil Dany was hinted at since the first season many times.. literally everytime they mention her father.. if people didnt see that coming they werent really watching the show lol
"And Bran's like 'Yeah, whatever, I've got more prehistoric wheelchairs to browse.' " It seriously took me almost a full minute to stop laughing. 😂 Also, awesome Terry Funk reference!
I remember when this show used to be one of the most talked about things ever. Now it seems most people want to forget it even happened... What a waste, glad I never saw the last season.
George R.R Martin said he's unhappy with the last 2 seasons and his books WILL be different to what happened. If only he...you know.....FINISHED them long ago. That way we can get a proper consistent story and not a slap in the face for everyone. All of the actors were upset with their characters abrupt and unnecessary endings. Emilia Clark said she was so hurt and saddened at Danareys instant bad-guy change and death that she was almost catatonic with shock.
I guess no one bother to see she was killing people that didn't following her way. See was turning bad a long time ago and George gave the thumbs up to everything as he won't finish the books. As anything he writes people won't like it. Just like Empire strikes Back and everyone hates Return of the Jedi after that. Can't win with people, but once the sequels came out they were just rehash or come new junk.
@Ismael But *is* ASOIAF actually good? I know we all wanted it to be. I damn sure did - that's why I read book 5 after the pointlessness of 4. It's okay, maybe even good, but certainly not great. It's decent political drama, and the subverting-expectations gimmick is memorable. But Martin has no vision, no ideas, no real story to tell. That's why we haven't, and won't, see book 6, ever. He defrauded us. The books don't suck, but let's not pretend the series is anything other than decently l-written, fraudulent crap that wasted our time.
@John Congos he puts far too much emphasis on writing about eating, drinking wine, and deflowering 14 year old girls. Makes you wonder where his mind is at.
A massive blunder that never gets talked about is what they did with the Hound. Since season 1 we learned that his older brother had burned his face off and from that day forward the Hound was seeking vengeance on the Mountain. Fast forward to season 8 and I am expecting to seeing the Hound finally get even with the Mountain. Instead he gets the crap kicked out of him for an hour and then realizing he failed he kills himself and his big brother. How is anybody supposed to feel good with how that went down?
Also, Arya's trip to King's Landing turns out to be completely pointless because all it takes to keep her from killing Cersei is a speech from the Hound about how "you don't want to become a killer like me." And I'm thinking, "Dude. At this point, Arya has killed HUNDREDS of people. She probably has a high body count than YOU."
It makes me so sad how this show tanked itself. I LOVED this show and it was heartbreaking watching it crash and burn in such spectacular fashion. I can normally laugh off a shit ending to a show but for some reason this one just pisses me off. I’m no screenwriter but I can think of many ways they could’ve done this and all of them are better than what we got. Honestly if they announced they’re retconning S8 and doing it again I’d be fine with that. I’d happily bury this season and never return to it again. Jon should’ve been the king.
It's like being married and happy with your spouse and about 10 years in she just starts banging every dude, gets pregnant, divorces you and you're living on the street. Thinking, what the hell just happened
Season 1: Ned Stark has a cool coat. Seasons 2-5: Some of the best writing TV has ever seen. Season 6: feels like very well written filler. Season 7: Prequel syndrome. Season 8: did they even ducking try.
I disagree with so.e folks here. I loved it through season 5. Season 6 was definitely weak in comparison, but if felt as if what it was building to would have payoff that would've made it worth it. But then everything fell completely flat.
@Digital Intent imo 1-3 were perfect. 4 was alright but it was when the writing started being dumbed down. 5 was absolutely appalling. It amazes me that people still rave about this season. 6 & 7 were awful overall but had some good moments. 8 was like it had been written by a 5 year old that had never watched the show. I still can't comprehend what the two idiots were thinking.
@Hayley B 4 was pretty much the peak but also had some moments of crap. Season 5 was when me and my ex decided to stop watching. It was definitely terrible by time that season was airing.
Having not read the books I could still tell when they ran out of the author's source material. It was so obvious. It just took a turn and you knew that something was missing and it was not good. Unbelieveable that they managed to ruin it so completely.
Things that doesn't matter: -John's lineage -Jaime's arc -Arya's shapeshifting skills -Bran warging abilities -Prince that was promised -Azor Ahai -Lord of Light -horse at the end of episode 5
i just came here after 3 yrs to say bran is the most evil person in the show he saw the future and let all those ppl die so he can become king 🤮 also jon is still a bastard .raegal was married to elia martell he basically fooled lyanna with that secret marriage
Ironically, this is the best movie review I've ever heard, for the worst ending of any series could have ever had. You nailed every aspect and I couldn't agree more with you.
I think the worst possible thing that was left was the motive of the night King, the importance of Bran and their connection. I was really hoping to see some massive reveal about Bran being the night king or something. Just a waste of a show, still upsetting to think about the last 3 seasons
Remember, "A Dance with Dragons" was published in 2011. We are now 12 years later and "The Winds of Winter" is still in the works, with the final book "A Dream of Spring" clearly not coming out this century.
bro all the times bran was seemingly upto fuck all he was actually inception worging everything so he can be king and get the dopest and fanciest wheelchair of all time
I love your content. And between the comedy, you really break down these shows and movies well. That being said, Game of thrones ending was so tragic and embarrassing it made me want to throw up. And years later, your breakdown makes me piss myself laughing! Really appreciate it👍
There was a question that was ask in the pick of game of thrones success … “Is there something Lord of the rings has, that game of thrones doesn’t?”. Things that it had: -Awesome fight scenes. -Gore. -Drama. -Sex. - Magic. - Well written characters. -Dragons. - Giants. -Zombies. -Culture. -STAKES. The One thing that GOT didn’t have, that LOTR had. A well done ending.
They were trying to play the angle of her being a Targaryen and inheriting the "mad gene". It's just that nothing really indicated at her being THIS mad. She was cruel towards the end, sure, but not this batshit insane where she suddenly decides to torch innocent people and the city she wants to conquer and rule. What was she going to do with the throne and the city afterwards? It's been razed to the ground. It makes zero sense.
just turned her in to a world domination cartoon villain .she came to Westeros to break wheel meaning stop the power struggle cycling over and over again then they made her want everyone to kneel and shit like wtf she never even asked slave masters to kneel .
I rarely let a bad ending ruin the entire show for me. Many shows still maintain their status despite having a bad ending but in this case it just ruined everything. The final season was so bad that I wish I forgot all about the existence of this whole series.
Long night battle was just wrong. Everyone at this point knows you can’t defeat the Others in a traditional battle. For the very fact that your casualties end up swelling their ranks. It’s statistically impossible. So a grand battle is just stoopid beyond belief. Jon should’ve known this along with anyone who’d faced the Others. It’s also the same trite cliches that Martin carefully sidestepped. In which all conflict is resolved in some great battle. If you’ll notice, nearly every season towards the end used battles to tie up everything neatly and tidily. Did they learn nothing from the red wedding? Things are not neat and tidy in GOT. And resolution via battles is just a euphemism for the bad writing of Hollywood. And how many times was the Long Night alluded to? I thought for sure we were going to get some truncated version of the past Long Night in which the Others ravaged all of Westeros. And it cuts against the most dominant theme in the books, that everyone is squabbling over petty things like the Iron throne while the greatest existential threat to humanity looms large. So only the North suffers for that petty squabbling? The North who already knew and remembered that what lurked beyond the wall was a threat? The rest of Westeros goes on in ignorance. All those that mocked ‘grumpkins and snarks’ never realized how wrong they were. All the ‘wise’ maesters who ignored the threat never experienced their folly. No lesson learned. And Cersei? The one who not only turned her back to the threat of the Others but uses it for strategic advantage. She never gets any comeuppance for ignoring that threat. A perfect conclusion would’ve been Cersei dying by Jamie’s undead hand. Serving to admonish Cersei for her disdain of the Others while fulfilling the prophecy. Not to mention Sam and Bran’s arcs. Bran’s arc is to be bait for the night king while warging around purposelessly?! Fuck off. And Sam’s arc was no more than finding dragonglass? That’s only mildly better than Bran’s. I’m just so disappointed.
What would have been really cool would be a great great migration retreat from the north to the twins, and subsequently to kings landing. Like Napoleons disaster retreat from Moscow when winter crept in. And the walkers continuously picking off the stragglers at the back.
Tragic...I've heard no talk of GOT since it ended. Nobody talking of how they miss it, or wishing they'd bring it back. Before the eighth season, i often spoke of buying the complete series once it ended to rewatch over and over. Now i no longer want to as the last season destroyed the series. Knowing how stupid and lame it all ended killed all the passion to reinvest my time in a worthless cause. R.I.P GOT.
I like to pretend it ends at the ends of season 6 with Jon being declared King in the North and Dany finally sailing for Westeros. It’s the most hopeful season finale
The best part about Season 8 was that I still had the HBO Max sub when Chernobyl came out. It was like a 32 ounce glass of ice water after spending an evening almost dying of alcohol poisoning
D&D wanted to give everyone a happy ending, totally forgetting that A Song Of Ice And Fire was never about happy endings. It was about consequences, for one. Remember Ed Stark and how he was loved and seemingly did everything right and by the book (of honor)? Guess what, that's not how the game of throne works, and he died for it. Everyone who made a mistake in the game of thrones was punished for it. And here we have season 8, where everyone can make the most dumb mistakes and not only get away with it, but rewarded for it. D&D really forgot what made the books and the early seasons of the show great. They valued fan service and nice visuals over great story telling. I can' t believe how dissapointed I still am about this. They had gold, but turned it into shit

My favorite easter egg is the Unsullied going to Noth. If you aren't from Noth there is this butterfly there that basically kills you if you don't possess like... Noth antibodies or something? Either way. They will all die when they land and 'viist'. It's a pretty baller move from Missandei not to tell Grey Worm and the other Unsullied about this super important detail about where she comes from.
I remember that I resisted watching GoT until season 5 but after the Hardhome episode I got hooked... and my reason to resist it was knowing that RR Martin was nowhere near finishing his series of books, I knew the TV show would eventually catch the books and that tv writers are usually not very good at writing intelligent stuff, or else they will be book writers... so I kinda knew this was coming in the end and well, it didn't surprised me at all
Being somewhat of a writer myself, I can safely say, it really doesn't matter if the series is good because if you mess the ending that's all people will remember. Hey just ask Stephen King 🤣
The 8th season was a waking nightmare. Thanks D & D. Overall, I think that D & D were good at adapting Martin’s work. But when that well ran dry, they showed that the best original writing they could do was, maybe, for an Adam Sandler movie.
I love how in the history book about the war of the 5 kings, the guy who killed one (or at least was framed for it and never cleared) and then hand of another just doesn't get mentioned.
Now that it's been a couple years, what's interesting is how thoroughly AGoT has been dropped from pop culture. The actors show up in other media but the show itself just vanished. There's a sense that GRRM won't ever finish the series, may not even finish the next book. Hollywood still has big plans for spinoffs, prequels, etc. but I feel like the viewing public is just done with it. That's a hell of a finale, that it was bad enough to destroy the whole run of the series.
@Lemuria GameDev Exactly. Perhaps it explains why D&D suddenly decided to drop out of taking over Star Wars, after having rushed AGoT's ending just to start on it. OTOH, the new prequel, House of the Dragon, is excellent. It started out doing good but not great in the ratings, and then viewership steadily increased as word got around.
I loved it. A lot. To be fair this is the only episode I saw and I had the honor of watching it with a dozen die hards trying to explain why it was so horrible and repeating over and over again that the show is amazing and I need to watch it. I genuinely felt like I was a bad person for watching my friends lives be ruined for a a week. Ahhh well, it’s fine.
Who has a better story than Bran the Broken? The man who willingly joined the Nights Watch, went beyond the Wall, joined wildlings, climbed that fucking wall on his way back, escaped the wildlings attack, commanded the Castle Black against the wildlings attack, befriended Tormund - the enemy, went to negotiate to hostile Hardome territory, killed a Walker, survived the massacre, got killed, got revived, won the bloody North with a bunch of wildlings, avenged the Red Wedding, became a king, united North, had the balls to go to Dragonstone, had the balls to go to Beyond the Wall again, had the balls to tell Cersei "no knee for you, I already serve Daenerys" in Kings Landing and last but not least, had his own dragon But Bran fell from tower and survived so now he knows useless stuff about history and things, cuz thats more interesting I guess...
If Bran has a "better story", why wasn't that one told? We don't see much of Bran's story, editing all his scenes together would probably end up with about one episode of material, and not all that much content in it.
@Fang Whiteclaw Who says he can swing a sword? He freely admitted that Robb was a better fighter. And since then what has he done? Sparred with completely untrained peasants, got beaten up by an old man, lost a fight to a random cutthroat, needed an elderly man to LET him kill him...and then the writers realised that 14 year old girls were watching just for Jon, so they start giving him all the slo-mo hero shots for no rason whatsoever. The show randomly started hyping Jon, just to sell it to the kind of people who buy Justin Bieber songs without realising - or caring - that he can't sing, and the songs are all written by other people whose faces you're not allowed to see.
Bran may not have suffered trough anything or did remarkable things like jon, but his ability to know everything that ever happened and everything that is happening right now at least qualifies him for being a good king. And jon cant be king because of the unsullied, dothraki and potentially the second sons who all hate him because he killed their savior. Im not trying to defend this episode or the last few seasons in general but some of these comments are so fucking mindless just taking the drinkers opinion without thinking about it at all.
@SerbAtheist you haven't payed attention in history class. In the middle ages, there was bigger army diplomacy. Since Bran never fought, there should not be a single soldier loyal to him, thus he can not be king, because bigger army diplomacy
it's actually kind of sad how bran is portrayed as just a barely concious entity trapped in a flesh box willingly so he can communicate with everyone, now i don't know where i heard what i'm about to say so forgive me if i butcher it or if i'm wrong, but in the books they detail bran's out of body experience as more than just seeing his dad's past etc, in one scene, according to the order of the green hand i think it was, in one of their videos they go over how their is a lot of little references to lovecraftian horror in the song of ice and fire, like the iron island throne which is not man made and depicts fish people, or the fact that their are other gods in the world that are dark and terrifying, and bran i think if i remember right, SAW one of these ancient deities linked to some red jewel far east beyond the realm of the dothraki, and so on, some far country conjuring some great unspeakable evil and something a thousand times worse than the night king to come, or some such thing, i think part of it is taken from the book in like a single paragraph description and the rest is speculation, but part of the reason he seems barely their or seems to barely care, is because he knows none of this means anything and that something even worse is on the way and the kingdoms need to be back in ship shape before that and so he's cool with whatever so long as their ready, sadly NONE of this makes it into the movie and like i said i might be miss remembering the video, and some was speculation, but it stands to reason their might have been much more planned for the series as a whole
Three years later and strangely enough, all the youtube shorts have me wanting to watch the first 4-5 season again. Truly a magnificent show, one of the best of all time for at least those years.
At this point in the show, I cared so little that the only thing that actually bothered me was not seeing any reaction from Theon's sister to Theon's death
For years now I've been trying to synthesize and clarify my thoughts on the end of this fine, fine series and then I stumbled on this and now I feel at peace.
Jon Snow's entire dialogue in season 8: -She is my queen -She is my queen -She is my queen -She is my queen -She is YOUR queen -She is my queen -You are my queen
To this day I keep wondering the usefulness and symbolism of the wolves that had so much prominence and stage time in the first episode. One pup for every Stark child, including one for the bastard. Wolf that is the symbol of the Stark house. Surely they would have some relevance to the story. 8 seasons later and it seems to me that RR Martin and the Direories have tried to include as many references as possible in GoT and then they don't know what to do next. The wolves of GoT for me are the most iconic.
My problem with the ending is it wraps up way too nicely. I was convinced Ramsay Bolton's foreshadowing was going to come true when he said, "If you think this has a happy ending then you haven't been paying attention."
Notice how Arya, Sansa and Bran were all in King’s Landing at the same time? Apparently ‘there must always be a Stark in Winterfell’ is no longer a thing either
Luke Johnson He can't be that smart if he still needs a master of whisperers despite being able to see the future. Also, important story aspects happened way before he could see the past/future. So the only thing Bran did is warge into D&D to write this shitpile of a story.
@chasm671 Brilliant! That would explain the Hodor-level intellects of those clowns. He also probably warged a writer or two and this explains Jon's copy & paste dialogue - "She's muh queen!"
"Sorry your dragon show ended stupidly" 🤣 I couldn't watch the last half of the season. I expected it when the merged Jon with Aegon and left him from the show
The fact the two producers still have jobs is proof positive about how corrupt the entertainment industry is. Producing bad but fun shit (looking at you Mike Bay) is one thing, but these two LITERALLY destroyed the final season so badly that it went back in time and nuked all 7 prior seasons, and, it wouldn't be a stretch to think that it will fundamentally impact the sales of George RR Martin's final book when released.
Mini series endings are always difficult to make....a lot of expectations that are built up. and a lot of people to please. Actually in Medieval and ancient times incompetent spoiled kids were often put in power.
It sucks-I go back and watch these amazing episodes from the first 4 years and it is always there in the back of my mind that this ends in the shittiest way possible.
Could've been on par with the lore depth of Breaking Bad and Star Wars, but they just haaad to wreck the show in the final season. An apocalyptic waste. The next generation of showwriters should strive to avoid this disaster
This is exactly what I said to my wife. It was like watching EastEnders set in westeros. They even cut an argument half way through, pure soap classic. FFS!
The worst part was the Danae and Cersi showdown. It was built up over 7 seasons and we were expecting some massive battle between the two. And then Cersi is...buried by rubble. What an anticlimax.
I remember seeing the merchandise everywhere. After the final season, it suddenly vanished everywhere and no one talks about it, like the special folder you found on your parents laptop.
You gotta wonder if the franchise could have been as big as something like Harry Potter if they didn't f*ck it up. I mean that merch is still everywhere
Coming back later... Tyrion's choice makes sense if he's broken now, and wants to enact revenge by putting a puppet on the throne and controlling everything from behind the scenes.
I blame it on the showrunners for committing to 73 episodes. They were too eager to move onto their next success, and said like a metronome, "73 hours is all we need", when in reality its clear they needed much more time to finish it off and it showed.
Nope. I'm an idiot, but it's easy to craft an intelligent character--their actions just have to make sense for their motivations and personality. You have the infinite advantages of time and internet to tweak the details, and the fact is they'll be judged by their actions within the context of the story. Take Littlefinger, for instance: in the first seasons he seems intelligent compared to most of the poeple around him. In my opinion, that's sort of a 'you dont have to outrun the bear...' situation. When it comes to sly trickery, basically only Tyrion or Varys hold a candle to him in GoT. But put the same Littlefinger into the midst of the French Revolution? I say he's out in the first round of beheadings, maybe second. D&D just got too greedy, they wanted it done fast, they wanted the Star Wars deal, they wanted the Netflix deal, and they got it. Hundreds of millions of dollars, and the ire of entire fanbases. That's enough for them to feck off somewhere forever. They weren't just dumb, they were lazy, which is a special kind of dumb, and for it they deserve the nickname Dumb & Dumber stamped on their foreheads forever. I mean, damn... Tyrion and Sansa join Dany, one of them turns Benedict Arnold, Arya kills Cersei, Jon fights the night-king, Bran wargs into a dragon to help him out... It plots itself.
@Jon Weman what's baffling is that they make millions of dollars for half ass productions and a barf for writing...I wish people would be smarter critics so they don't pay for BS like this....it's everywhere and I always wonder where does the money keep coming from????
There are some tricks you can use. In fiction if the smart solution doesn't quite work, the author can adjust the problem until it does. As someone else said you can give yourself weeks to think while the character only has seconds. But yeah here it is true. The failure to write smart characters is one of the earliest things that start to shit up in the show, as far back as S5.
The whole of season 8 was worse than when Fonzie jumped a shark, and that’s considered the worst tv episode in television history. But this takes the throne. I bet Henry Winkler was so happy when this season aired, especially that last episode.
The thing that annoys me the most is the fact that the ones who were behind this show do not give a shít that it went down the hill in the end ,they did not even feel ashamed.they were like: *we have been milking this show for money for the last seven seasons, so why care about the last season any more?.they made a masterpiece and then they felt like they had enough money and fame out of it, and do you know what is the most scary thing about this? It is the fact that any company or writer can do the same with no consequences.
Magi V I don’t think he’s immortal he needs the tree for that. Also, I look at the three eyed raven ability as something similar to the ability in the anime one piece. How you can kinda see things before it happens, but what could is that ability of you can’t stop it. The three eyes Raven can’t take control of mentally sound people, only people like Holdor or animals. At that point just hunt the three eyed Raven down every time.
@Magi V Awesome analysis. Was thinking watching this video: Who pushes Bran's chair around now (puts him to bed, feeds him, changes his diaper,...)? Would have to be somebody %100 trustworthy...did he go back in time, enslave another Hodor? I remember being kind of excited about that "hold the door" development, seemed like a new twist on the time paradox thing. I predicted that's where the Mad King's "Burn them all!" psychosis came from. Bran physically in present time surrounded by zombies needing burning, affecting the past in astral(?) form. Of course, ability was never mentioned again, went back to just being a peeping tom
My biggest gripe is, by far, the characters that were 'phosphatized' for something and literally came back from the dead only to be completely thrown out unrespectfully. Like the one-eyed brotherhood knight who died, what, like 6-7 times and did pretty much nothing in Season 8? Or the red witch who also did pretty much nothing during the battle except get the dothraki killed with slightly higher morale. Or like any of the Starks just standing in the background and getting non of the send-offs and scenes we hoped for. Or if that's not enough, what about Jamie who was at the peak of his whole redemption arc and then just ran backwards to his death for something so little and stupid. Or the Cleganes being anti-climatic despite build-up for years. I could go on and on just like this video could have, but damn I'd be worn out eventually from all the problems and issues the last season alone had. It's a shame how far down it fell with how much they had to work with
It's a shame the show runners weren't willing to wait for the books to be written, and got too greedy, and put how quickly they can make the money ahead of a decent story for the fans who had put years of their lives into the GOT world
HBO seems to do a great job of storytelling right up to the last season. Then they rush through it making lots of shortcuts and hack thru the storylines ending up with a very unsatisfactory ending. Felt the same way with the last season of True Blood.
Omg! This video nailed how I felt last night watching this episode last night for the first time. There was just no thought or care about the details. It drove me nuts trying to watch it because questions and details that would have been fleshed out in previous seasons were just ignored and the characters, well, seemed to be out of character. It was a huge letdown and so unsatisfying. All of a sudden, there’s a meeting right after the dragon takes D’S body away. What? So everyone psychically knows she’s dead and they all leave their kingdoms randomly to meet to talk about it? I even could go along with Bran being the king, but nobody even fought for Jon’s claim - just ‘cuz grey worm says no. Come on. After the political intrigue of the earlier seasons, I felt dumber after watching that play out. And why would anyone want to going sailing with aria? And like what was mentioned- all of a sudden, militaries are resurrected and buildings are rebuilt magically….,What? What a letdown. 😂.
@Anthony What baffles me is how careless they are with these franchises...these are money machines... and they give two idiot writers enough freedom to sink a billion dollar ship?? what is going on in this industry seriously... HBO lost billions because of those buffoons..
Lost is one if the best tv shows from the last 20 years. Yeah the last season was really weird but the entire show was really good. Every single character was developed entirely and you got to empathize with each one of them.
Totally agree with the last statement, 'ends badly' being remembered far more that a good beginning. I am sure we all could rattle off dozens of shows that fit the sentiment.
Season 8 was the first season I waited until it was all out so I could binge watch it.. And so happy I did, cause I got to hear all the issues with it. I decided to at least give it a go to know for myself.. watched season 1 and the betrayal of characters and arcs and never will pick it up again..
The thing that really pisses me off is, the fact that D&D basically rushed the writing for this last season because they wanted to get in on the Star Wars hype and go off an write a SW show and Martin said he wanted at least two more seasons...but that show they ended up writing for didn't even get made in the end. Thus not even justifying the rushing of their complete and utter dumpster fire that was this last season.
What was the point of Arya's faceless powers if she didn't use them once this season? Why was Jon a Targaryen if it made no difference in the plot? Why did Drogon think a chair killed Dany?
Well I won't make excuses for the show...but Drogon didn't think the throne hurt her...his destruction of the throne showed he instinctively knew this throne..brought about all this end. It was symbolic that he destroyed the throne while looking at john
i just came here after 3 yrs to say bran is the most evil person in the show he saw the future and let all those ppl die so he can become king 🤮 also jon is still a bastard .raegal was married to elia martell he basically fooled lyanna with that secret marriage
@h h in the past dragons have attacked and managed to kill Targaryeans, and also Dragons are loyal to their riders and not every family member or Targaryean Everybody put more thought into the plot than the 2 brilliant geniuses who were actually paid to do so
They should of had Aria wounded have the theme song to game of thrones playing in the background while the night king and Jon Snow square off , that would have been the song of ice and fire, Jon Snow was prophesized to beat the night King. #winterishere
The last season not only destroys the show's legacy, but it completely kills its rewatchability
I loved it

That’s what I did.
I’m eternally grateful that Dave and Dan were fired from their Star Wars trilogy after this war crime
@The Stranger yep, all that Bigger Money was too tempting. What a travesty.
@Mitchell Bowman I've read the articles. D&D dropped Star Wars for Netflix.
@Briana do you want me to link the to the article I read?
Being bad is one thing. But being so incredibly awful that it actually manages to ruin all the good seasons that came before it, is almost impressive.
I loved the show before season 8 (And yes, I know S7 was flawed). But after the ending I haven't been interested in rewatching a single episode, and actually gave my DVD's away in a charity shop. They destroyed the entire show with this ending. I can think of no other show that has ever achieved that.
@Mysterykiddo 2ah I still rewatch Smallville up to season 5 from time to time. Back when TV was simple fun and not overloaded with preachy wokeness
"The Fugitive", same thing happened. Except the ending was so good, satisfying, that there was no suspense left in the earlier episodes.
Lost?
Lost is an easy addition to your list.
@Swanvictor idk about that my dude it was ok and correctly aligned with the myths king Arthur died in after defeating the evil army and merlin got rid of the sword and hid until his eventual resurrection
Its funny as they wanted to end this so they could write a star wars trilogy.... But then they got fired 😂😂
@Brian McConnell Kathleen Kennedy has fired a lot of competent writers because they weren’t woke like her. She fired the original Solo directors, who went on to direct Into the Spiderverse.
@rad - Yeah, RIGHT. They should run for office, and wind up in the US Congress.
God that's the justice of justice. Hope they never write in Hollywood again.
@Brian McConnell lots of people have actually 😂
Man, how bad do you have to be to get fired from a Kathleen Kennedy Star Wars project? 😆😆😆
The real tragedy of Jaime and Cersei is that if they stood a little to the right they would have been fine.

The show actually went so bad, that no one talks about how good the first five seasons were. Its literally written itself out of existence.
@Ben Tully season 6 had some great moments and payoffs but it did start going downhill from there writing wise
I will always rep season 6 as battle of the bastards is top 3 tv episodes of all time
The ending to this show was so bad i forgot it even existed. Literally everyone i knew was always talking about this show... and then the last season happened, and everyone pretended the show never existed. They managed to remove it from everyones mind, which is an insane accomplishment when the show used to be good

It even killed the desire of rewatching it again, and/or recommending it to others.
Then they decided "fuck it, we have a contract, let's just shoot whatever bullshit we can come up with"
friendly reminder that people still talk about breaking bad like it happened yesterday while GoT is forgotten
Remember, they took a 2-year break in order to create this non-sense of a season....
Amen!
Best show ever? Yikes. I take it you haven’t seen Breaking Bad... 5 seasons with a fantastic final season and a perfect final episode.
@Apostolos Giannakopoulos let's just say that season 6 onwards is there own abomination
They did not create anything they bought someone else's intellectual property and turned it into a TV show. It's like me making a mod for Skyrim to turn into a multiplayer game and then saying I created the best video game in existence.
They destroyed too well, I think. My theory is that there was some kind of miff between D&D and George Martin.
I will never allow myself, to become emotionally invested in a show again like I did with this.
@Meg Krish what are some amazing shows you recommend? I need something to binge
Don't be so disheartened buddy. GOT was basically the best show I've ever seen before they ruined it but since then I've watched plenty of pretty amazing stuff that managed to be good throughout. I'm sure you'll find something you love again, hopefully something that has already ended and is still good?
The real debate is, which multi-season major plot point amounted to less?
a) Bran being the three eyed raven
b) Jon being Aegon Targaryan
The night king plot being nothing is worse
@Locke107 good point!

@Watermelon Tree of Knowledge The Lord of Light a.k.a Lucifer?
The joke's on us. We have been trolled by George R.R. Martin and he even told us so.

@Apostolos Giannakopoulos never thought of it that way...fired by disney ... now that is harsh!!!
I dunno. These types tend to fail to the top
i guess they will serve as a warning to others to not be as stupid..
then again others seem to try to improve on their abilities...lol
@Ackalan seasons 1-4 were good, then they ran out of the book material and it all went to shit, not to mention they were left unsupervised by GRRM
Also BTW if you're 'not into modern storytelling' what are you even doing on the channel that's all about it? You should probably be on the channel about Shakespearean plays or something
They kept around just to deliver the who has a better story than bran line. They thought the Tyrion fan base would just accept that line cuz he delivered it, I think they knew if he didn't deliver it literally NO ONE would have bought. I mean not many did buy it....
At season three:
Friend: Do you watch GoT? It's amazing.
Me: Nah, I'm not into modern story telling.
Friend: This is different, it's so good, you'll like it.
At season seven:
*Crickets*
After ending:
Me: So should I watch GoT?
Friend: *Grumbles*
Crazy how the end of this series was so goddamn bad that it retroactively removed all of its influence from the cultural conversation
I'm surprised anyone got past season 2..
Imagine all the babies named after Dany / Cersei / Khalessi (There's alot btw) growing up and be like why the fuck you named me after that shit?
i liked it
@Fun Size Yes I agree, even George Martin said they were rushing the show in season 8.
I never watched the final season because of the rumors. I can’t understand how you could let a series die like this.
@Phantom Shadowfax when you just lay it out like plot points like Bran ending up as king or Dany turning evil they are all plausible, just not in the shitty way show did it
@Phantom Shadowfax nah. it sucked.
you might want to give it shot. its not nearly as bad if you paid close attention the entire series. if you're one of the people that didnt know Jon was a Targaryen until the show literally spelled it out than maybe you shouldnt bother.. but if that was obvious to you like it was to many other than Dany being evil shouldn't be a surprise and neither should Bran being on the Throne. the Major plot points that people complain about just shows how shallow such a massive audience can be.
i will say the script was lazy and the way they ended minor characters like Varys and Brienne were horrid.. definately worse than evil Daenerys.. evil Dany was hinted at since the first season many times.. literally everytime they mention her father.. if people didnt see that coming they werent really watching the show lol
ditto. Thanks to Critical D, Nerdrotic,Mauler et al. watching S8 was not necessary.
If he ever finish them.
Imagine sitting through 7 years of excitement and hype just to have crap slapped in your face?
That’s what happened to every GoT fan
Same thing happened with The Last of Us Part 2 :/
But you don't speak for every fan. I enjoyed it.
Davos telling a group of warrior-eunuchs to settle down and start families is literally the dumbest thing I have experienced on TV.
"Life finds a way." Dr. Ian Malcolm
"Gay Frogs." Sir Alexander Jones
O....M....F....G.. I just realized this... He said "there's plenty of land in the Reach to settle down and have a family"
@Tyler Durden
🤣🤣🤣
@jkdoorbinnia lmao I pray you’re joking
How is anybody supposed to feel good with how that went down?
think thats the least of the worries. i found it kinda fitting tbh
They messed up the hounds arc for sure. What a blatantly brainless ending for him- one that also made Arya look like a dumb little kid.
@SerbAtheist and that is at the crux of the criticism for me - it didn't end in exactly the way they wanted.
Imo The Hound was the only one who actually got a decent ending
3 & 4 god tier
I disagree with so.e folks here. I loved it through season 5. Season 6 was definitely weak in comparison, but if felt as if what it was building to would have payoff that would've made it worth it. But then everything fell completely flat.
they dropped the ball when they killed ser barrister .books had a journey for him
@Digital Intent imo 1-3 were perfect.
Things that doesn't matter:
-John's lineage
-Jaime's arc
-Arya's shapeshifting skills
-Bran warging abilities
-Prince that was promised
-Azor Ahai
-Lord of Light
-horse at the end of episode 5
@kefkapalazzo1 huh have to google what this is about....
@cuacho
He annulled his marriage to Elia thus rendering it void. Jon is not a bastard and they really massacred his character.
-Euron as a character
i just came here after 3 yrs to say bran is the most evil person in the show he saw the future and let all those ppl die so he can become king 🤮 also jon is still a bastard .raegal was married to elia martell he basically fooled lyanna with that secret marriage
The Wolves, Baratheon bastard son, Tree with faces, Jon resurrection....
It was such a bland final, anti-climactic. Sean Bean must've been relieved to have his character killed in the 1st season.
Sean Bean died? I didn't see that coming!
So glad Charles Dance got out of the series before it goes really bad
@Adam Steele Different movie (franchise). Different character 🙄.
He tried to take the ring from frodo. Eff him.
Ironically, this is the best movie review I've ever heard, for the worst ending of any series could have ever had. You nailed every aspect and I couldn't agree more with you.
Don't agree and your hyperbole is misplaced. Have you seen how Angel and Buffy ended, or Lost for that matter?
What I had always wondered: how did they know that Dany is dead? Jon killed her and no one was there, Drogon took her body, so how did they know?
Jon likely confessed, like he did to killing Mance in a room full of wildlings. He's not one to lie or bs about anything
The best joke I've heard is that the reason dragon melted down the Iron Throne was to make a ramp for Bran.
basically im saying i wouldnt be surprised if bran worged the dragon so it did melt the chair into a ramp lmao no cap thats canon for me now
bro all the times bran was seemingly upto fuck all he was actually inception worging everything so he can be king and get the dopest and fanciest wheelchair of all time
OMG.. too soon!!! lol... I have to remember this one.. thanks for making season 8 not seem as painful....
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I just spat out my drink 😂
I love your content. And between the comedy, you really break down these shows and movies well.
That being said, Game of thrones ending was so tragic and embarrassing it made me want to throw up. And years later, your breakdown makes me piss myself laughing! Really appreciate it👍
There was a question that was ask in the pick of game of thrones success …
“Is there something Lord of the rings has, that game of thrones doesn’t?”.
Things that it had:
-Awesome fight scenes.
-Gore.
-Drama.
-Sex.
- Magic.
- Well written characters.
-Dragons.
- Giants.
-Zombies.
-Culture.
-STAKES.
The One thing that GOT didn’t have, that LOTR had.
A well done ending.
"Danny won't rest until they've liberated the entire world from the cruelty of being alive"
Honestly what the hell was her goal here
They were trying to play the angle of her being a Targaryen and inheriting the "mad gene".
R.I.P GOT.
@GameBoy that's what I do, I say watch till season 4 since that's where book material ends
I like to pretend it ends at the ends of season 6 with Jon being declared King in the North and Dany finally sailing for Westeros. It’s the most hopeful season finale
And don't forget...We had to wait a whole Year for the last Shit Season with the fewest episodes!!

I remember that I resisted watching GoT until season 5 but after the Hardhome episode I got hooked... and my reason to resist it was knowing that RR Martin was nowhere near finishing his series of books, I knew the TV show would eventually catch the books and that tv writers are usually not very good at writing intelligent stuff, or else they will be book writers... so I kinda knew this was coming in the end and well, it didn't surprised me at all
I've never before wished a show I loved had been cancelled before it's final season.
Drogon flew away to find better writers
No. He just went home
@Tenebreh yeah. That comment didnt age well.😄
@Bhoddisatva [laughing J. Jonah Jameson.exe.wav.mp4.dos.webm]
Fare thee well, sweet scaly prince... it's a véritable wasteland out there
Being somewhat of a writer myself, I can safely say, it really doesn't matter if the series is good because if you mess the ending that's all people will remember.
Probably erased a few hundred millions in merchandise profits as well.
I loved it.
The man who willingly joined the Nights Watch, went beyond the Wall, joined wildlings, climbed that fucking wall on his way back, escaped the wildlings attack, commanded the Castle Black against the wildlings attack, befriended Tormund - the enemy, went to negotiate to hostile Hardome territory, killed a Walker, survived the massacre, got killed, got revived, won the bloody North with a bunch of wildlings, avenged the Red Wedding, became a king, united North, had the balls to go to Dragonstone, had the balls to go to Beyond the Wall again, had the balls to tell Cersei "no knee for you, I already serve Daenerys" in Kings Landing and last but not least, had his own dragon
But Bran fell from tower and survived so now he knows useless stuff about history and things, cuz thats more interesting I guess...
Literally EVERYONE!
🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁
At this point in the show, I cared so little that the only thing that actually bothered me was not seeing any reaction from Theon's sister to Theon's death
For years now I've been trying to synthesize and clarify my thoughts on the end of this fine, fine series and then I stumbled on this and now I feel at peace.
Season 8 is what happens when TV writers no longer have a book to copy from.
Jon Snow's entire dialogue in season 8:
-She is my queen
-She is my queen
-She is my queen
-She is my queen
-She is YOUR queen
-She is my queen
-You are my queen
Sadly that's Tyrion's dialogue, too
You forgot “She’ll be uh GUHD queen”
Why is the Queen?
I am Spartacus, no I am Spartacus, no I am Spartacus, yes you are Spartacus.
Thank you for brilliant critique of a series that went from sublime to unbearable. Saved me from watching the last series.
I love how the Ghost reappearance was literally to shut Mauler up. The fandom yeah, but mostly Mauler 🤣
So embarrassing. Thanks for thourally explaining all of this horror. At least we have that to bring us some sanity after all that madness.
Luke Johnson
He can't be that smart if he still needs a master of whisperers despite being able to see the future. Also, important story aspects happened way before he could see the past/future. So the only thing Bran did is warge into D&D to write this shitpile of a story.
@chasm671
Brilliant! That would explain the Hodor-level intellects of those clowns.
He also probably warged a writer or two and this explains Jon's copy & paste dialogue - "She's muh queen!"
@c1000101c Maybe he broke the 4th wall and warged into D&D.
@Marcel
I like the Poodor theory better.
Actually the 2 last Transformers movies also nuked the first Transformers.
Ryan Johnson brought me here
Mini series endings are always difficult to make....a lot of expectations that are built up. and a lot of people to please. Actually in Medieval and ancient times incompetent spoiled kids were often put in power.
'...incompetent spoiled kids were often put in power...'Just like Hollywood.
It sucks-I go back and watch these amazing episodes from the first 4 years and it is always there in the back of my mind that this ends in the shittiest way possible.
🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁
Could've been on par with the lore depth of Breaking Bad and Star Wars, but they just haaad to wreck the show in the final season. An apocalyptic waste. The next generation of showwriters should strive to avoid this disaster
This is just a damn shame......such a wonderful story reduced to nothing more than an expensive daytime soap opera. Terribly sad
Seriously. Pisses me off
I remember seeing the merchandise everywhere.
Yeah... I just love the fact, that John put so much effort and even his life for the reward of getting the shaft
The problem with writing smart characters is that you yourself have to be smart.
@Caterinca Reloaded 🤔 hmmmm
@margareth michelina that common sense thing i think goes out the window when you are as coked up as these guys appear to be doing season 8....
Validates why I decided not to give years of my life to this show and just never saw it
The whole of season 8 was worse than when Fonzie jumped a shark, and that’s considered the worst tv episode in television history. But this takes the throne. I bet Henry Winkler was so happy when this season aired, especially that last episode.
Been 3 years, and I'm still pissed off with season 8
The thing that annoys me the most is the fact that the ones who were behind this show do not give a shít that it went down the hill in the end ,they did not even feel ashamed.they were like: *we have been milking this show for money for the last seven seasons, so why care about the last season any more?.they made a masterpiece and then they felt like they had enough money and fame out of it, and do you know what is the most scary thing about this? It is the fact that any company or writer can do the same with no consequences.
20 minutes later and i’m still laughing at “a wet and suspiciously warm fart at the end of a violent romantic conquest”
Bran : "I can never be lord of anything."
Tyrion : "What about being the King?"
Bran : "Where do I sign?"

@Michael Plowman nah their gonna breed him via insemination, standard stuff in Westeros
It was like writing a perfect story for a test only to rush the ending because you're running out of time.
After watching everyone get massacred and burnt to a crisp
Arya: "I know a killer when I see one"
Thanks Sherlock
arya had the most cringiest lines in season 8
Arya was incredibly clever to notice all that destruction. :D
Were all these lines that bad? Like I must have been so blind by the nonsensical action that I just tuned out what they were saying 😂
@Anthony What baffles me is how careless they are with these franchises...these are money machines...
and they give two idiot writers enough freedom to sink a billion dollar ship?? what is going on in this industry seriously...
HBO lost billions because of those buffoons..
Yeah that dialogue seriously pissed me off so much. It seems like the writers had Arya go south just so she could tell Jon that.
Lost is one if the best tv shows from the last 20 years. Yeah the last season was really weird but the entire show was really good. Every single character was developed entirely and you got to empathize with each one of them.
Well, pootin's recent behaviour has proven that such character development can be very, very realistic.
@Brain Washingtonin season 1 jon got burned man hes not unburnt
i just came here after 3 yrs to say bran is the most evil person in the show he saw the future and let all those ppl die so he can become king 🤮 also jon is still a bastard .raegal was married to elia martell he basically fooled lyanna with that secret marriage
@h h in the past dragons have attacked and managed to kill Targaryeans, and also Dragons are loyal to their riders and not every family member or Targaryean
Everybody put more thought into the plot than the 2 brilliant geniuses who were actually paid to do so
They should of had Aria wounded have the theme song to game of thrones playing in the background while the night king and Jon Snow square off , that would have been the song of ice and fire, Jon Snow was prophesized to beat the night King. #winterishere
I thought I might be able to forget the last season enough that I can enjoy what came before and rewatch, but I just can't
It was almost like the characters knew the show was ending, not the actors the actual characters...lol. Hahahaha
