As someone who’s neurodivergent and has a serious lack of ability to understand sarcasm and can’t always tell playful ribbing, and actual toxic behavior. I’ve watched you guys long enough to know that this is how you have and whatnot, but I still really appreciate the heads up you put at the beginning. It’s so much easier to enjoy when you can actually 100% understand context and tone
I'm ND too but it's harder for me to understand sarcasm and banter/friendly ribbing in real life. Sometimes my friends say something mean jokingly and when my expression changes to surprise or confusion they apologize and clarify it's a joke. Which sucks because I do very much love banter and ribbing, I do it to my friends too but will also sometimes have to apologize and clarify I was joking because I can't tell if I Said It Correctly. When it comes to KZcliprs and streamers though, especially if it's a group that makes content together regularly like these four, I pretty much always assume that the bullying is played more for laughs. If Jimmy was actually hurt by what Grian, Joel, and Fwhip say/do during these streams I doubt the stream would have been edited and uploaded. Same with other streamers and youtubers.
I appreciate the disclaimer! It isn't going to be obvious to everyone whether something is joking or not (not all friends behave like this or even want to behave like this) and reassuring everyone is definitely the correct step in my opinion. I think even I felt a little weird about the raft video because it seemed even harsher than the usual banter. So it's nice to have it 100% clear how you feel and makes it easier to enjoy! NONE of your friends deserve the flak if it's all fun and games to you guys. Keep up the good content
Tips: spoiler free. You can actually separate the raft sections using an ax: as long as at least 2 sections are touching they will not break no matter how far apart they are (even thousands of blocks apart). You can turn on friendly fire when loading the world in. When you get metal, armor your nets first then foundations. You use the hammer to armor the raft and once armored, the shark cannot damage the raft anymore. There are no build limits, however, do not exceed 100 foundations: you'll find out why later. The flotsam stream is 28 units wide: building a single line of 28-30 nets is the best. Don't kill the dodos (cluckers), goats, or llamas: you will need them for resources. Especially the llamas: you need their wool to make armor and more importantly, backpacks which increase your inventory by 8.
More tips: Depending on what difficulty you play in (I think), the shark MIGHT be able to attack inner raft squares if the raft perimeter is armored. If so, focus on armoring nets and tiles that have things on them (chests, food/water setups, crops, anchors, supports for upper floors, etc) first. If you park on one side of an island and dive on the other side, you can gather underwater resources without worrying as much about shark attacks. The shark stays with the raft, not the players. However, keep lines of sight in mind because the shark can and will go around the island if it sees a player. If you kill the shark, leaving its body in the water (just don't finish harvesting it) makes it take longer for a new one to spawn. The timer (I think 5min) for shark respawning starts when the old one's body is gone, so you get more shark-free time if you let it despawn on its own. Pufferfish, which can be found off the shores of larger islands, are a lot like Minecraft creepers--they sneak up quietly and then self-destruct with an area-of-effect damage. Unlike creepers, you can't back away fast enough to stop them from blowing up if they get close, so use a bow and arrow--they drop something really useful and they only respawn in one of the story locations. If you blow up all the puffers on one (non-story) island, you'll need to sail somewhere else to harvest this drop. All the land-based enemies I know of can be dodged if you pay attention to how they charge up their attacks. Just try not to get cornered. Seagulls make a certain honking noise when attacking crops or a scarecrow, keep an ear out. Crop plots under roofs do not get attacked by birds, and I haven't seen them go for the big tree plots either. Playing in a big group like this is good because you can have one person stay on the raft and maintain it against shark or bird attacks, if you eventually get farm animals this person can also keep the animals' grass watered so they don't starve. There's a bit of automation you can do for this but it doesn't last indefinitely; I saw one playthrough in which two players came back to their raft for water while exploring a really big story location to discover their llama starving because the automation had run out of either power or water (I forget which).
