Just to clarify the bison point, as I didn’t make it especially clear in the script: I’m aware it was the vile French, not the Predator; the problem is it makes for narrative clutter given skinned animals have previously served as a device teasing a separate mystery. The point is to draw out similarities between the Predator and the French - which is a good idea - but the delivery is lacking.
Also, and more generally, I don’t hate this film, and I do spend a lot of time explaining and praising what it does right. It has some excellent ideas. It’s the writing, characterisation and general delivery, especially in the second half, that really lets it down.

After I watched this movie and then looked at the reviews I was in disbelief that it didn't receive as many thumbs down as I was expecting. This is the only review that truly gives a decent account of all the pitfalls in this installment of Predator. Bad acting, bad script, sad use of a female lead, inconsistent CG quality, poor character development, unbelievable ending, and the list goes on and on.

Well obviously. Even in a movie about a massive space monster who's entire purpose is to destroy humans, the real enemies are the wh1tes. Plus that's a straight ripoff of a scene in Dances with Wolves. I sprained my eyes rolling them so hard.

It was absolutely insane for the movie to show us the predator bodying a brown bear in melee combat and then later struggling against humans.

This is what should have happened when Mary jumped on the Predators back the Predator should have grabbed her throwing her onto the ground holder down as he stabbed her with his wrist blades and if he was stopped by the dog he would have grabbed the dog or kicked him away because he's very small and wouldn't do much damage and we saw him body a coyote earlier so he definitely would have won that battle if it weren't for the horrible injuries he sustained from his fight with the brother

@DiamondDead I think with good writing u can still have tension and stakes by making it a struggle rather than a 1 sided massacre I mean sure the point would be the predator winning in the end but that doesnt mean it has to come out unscathed it could still end with some wounds while still taking victory. The predator could also just be set up like a horror movie where u follow a set of people trying to survive while hearing the screams and terror in the distance of people fighting back while the try and figure out whats going on while giving those people or just the audience peeks at the predator or just showing the aftermath of it going through an area and end it with the predator winning and maybe some of the main cast dying because they had weapons that made them worth hunting so then the survivors see someone die by an invisible creature in a dimly lit area as they have no idea what happened are not only traumatized by the destruction and horror but also by something unexplainable or unbelievable that they all personally witnessed at the end

You mocked the scene where Naru learns how the predator's helmet works but you missed a glaring flaw: She is behind the tree that is being shot. She cannot know that the lasers are aimed at the tree - to her, it's just some bright red thing on the predator's head armor. From her vantage point, she cannot see the dots on the tree and cannot see that the darts are hitting the dots.she can see nothing but a glowing bit on the predator's head armor so she should learn nothing.
Then the finale when she magically lines everything up based on knowledge she couldn't have seen, couldn't have learned, and couldn't have understood, was ludicrous.
I predicted that she was going to grab his helmet and wrist launcher and wear the things to hunt the predator. At least that wouldn't require her to create a Rube Goldberg ending.

I agree with a lot of your points. My biggest issue is how Naru went after the Predator for no reason other than she found it’s tracks and a skinned snake and that no one would believe her. The Predator wasn’t bothering her or her tribe so there was no reason for her to go after it. And when she did, she foolishly led her tribesmen right to it where they got butchered. Not to to mention how it was also because of her that her brother was captured and tortured by the fur traders. She never even acknowledges that any of it was her fault or learns from it. I thought the whole point of her mother lecturing her that hunting for their people is not about proving oneself but about survival was to set her up to learn this later but she never does. This whole movie from start to finish was about her wanting to prove she could hunt even at the cost of the lives of her brother and tribesmen, even if they were brainless morons and dicks, and she never goes through any kind of character development at all other than enhancing her skills. And it really annoys me how everyone keeps regarding her as an awesome action heroine and the best protagonist in the franchise when she really isn’t. She’s an entitled teenage girl who doesn’t listen to anybody from her tribe who tells her she can’t or shouldn’t do something even if what they’re telling her is sound advice.

@Face Face That ending could be explained as "she got lucky" - she took the helmet without really understanding anything about it, and maybe put it to a tree mostly as a lure in hopes the predator might try to retrieve it, and then simply got incredibly lucky while the stupid predator managed to not notice the helmet or the whole situation and accidentally shot itself. So, really not a story about a heroic girl winning a fight against that predator than a story of the most stupid ever predator (probably their version of the village idiot) failing abysmally in its hunt.

The dumbest part of the movie was when Naru realized that the Predator can't see people if their body temperature is low.
So she's at the Frenchman camp giving the guy the medicine that lowers body temperature, Predator arrives, she goes to hide behind a tree and the guy tries to crawl away and then plays dead.
The Predator looks around, SEES all the dead bodies, SEES the blood trail, SEES the guy who left the blood trail, stares right down at the guy, and decides he must be dead like the rest of them because he's lying on the ground and he's cold. We know this because we're SHOWN THOURGH THE PREDATORS EYES.
Meanwhile, Naru looks at what the Predator is doing and comes to the conclusion that IT COULDN'T SEE HIM. When in fact he could see everything, none of the people in the camp (dead or alive) were invisible to him.
Naru later takes the medicine, moves 2 inches and the Predator walks right past her. He should've seen her of course because she wasn't invisible, she was just cold, and SHE WAS STANDING UPRIGHT, not playing dead.
idk, maybe he did see her just standing there pretending to be invisible, and thought "oh no!, this girl must be retarded" and just left her alone because killing retarded people is not honorable

@DeonteArnold moves outside of the predator’s point of view. At the beginning of the battle when Arnold is waiting on the tree and the predator comes up next to him, Arnold is still until the predator moves past. Arnold swings on a vine to the next tree and is still while the predator is trying to figure out what moved. Arnold hits him with the explosive arrow and the predator starts lobbing shots everywhere, only focusing on Arnold when he’s running in a straight line away. Arnold crosses paths with the predator, but outside of his field of view, and hides under the log. Arnold grabs the spears, and because of his heat sig hiding mud and the thick vegetation, Arnold manages to stay in the predator’s blind spot. Following the predators blood trail, Arnold moves between some rocks and the predator doubles back, and though Arnold is still, he’s lost some mud and the predator notices. Arnold drops his explosive, momentarily blinding the predator, falls into a pool of water, loses all of his mud and that’s where the predator actually catches him.
One instance of Arnold “moving around covered in mud” while in the predators field of view. And in that instance, the predator saw him. So, no real inconsistencies.

Yes, this is the difference between Arnold and the mud, and Naru. Even though the mud wouldn't shield someone for nearly as long as it did in the movie (my only main gripe with the original), at least he knew to try and blend in and not to move around or stand upright.

One of the weirdest things for me was the choice of ending: she returns to her tribe in triumph, carrying the Predator's head (and the translator's pistol), throws it at the feet of her elders, and smiles as she is named warchief.
    what
First and foremost, her recklessness is to blame for no fewer than FIVE of the tribe's dead. The four hunters that went out to find her wouldn't be there if she hadn't baselessly decided that she knew better than everyone else and ran off on her own. Her brother wouldn't be dead if not for, again, a similar reason.
If she had a character arc, I thought it would have involved the apparent glamor of being a hunter and warrior being just that: a glamour, or an illusion. The way she was 'training' earlier was so laughably out of touch with what you'd actually need to know as a hunter/warrior that it was comical. Pointlessly parkour-kicking off trees while chasing a rabbit? Throwing a hatchet? Making a scuffed version of Skorpion's weapon from 'Mortal Kombat'?
But then, not only did this baffling non-training actually appear to work, but when faced with all the death and destruction that it took to bring down the Predator...she slices off its head, paints herself with its blood, and leaves the brother who sacrificed himself to save her to be eaten by scavengers.
There was a lot of plot armor along the way, too, but I'd say the second most disappointing character was the Predator himself. He's a big, dumb monster that _constantly_ stumbles into traps and ambushes, and then survives because of a combination of insano-tech and having been buffed to the point of insanity. He's an incompetent, cowardly idiot that would have died a dozen times over if he weren't given such an insane and unreasonable amount of strength, speed, agility, and coordination.
The cowardly part comes from his tech, particularly when he decides to activate his Amazon drone C4 delivery service to seek out and autonomously murder the rest of the trappers. It fell into the same category of 'haha, look! reference! u liek reference, yes?!' that the pistol was.
The mines got used in previous media when shit was _serious._ AvP2's Predator used them to clear out xenomorphs in the town's sewers because he was there to _eradicate_ them and take care of any other traces of extraterrestrial stuff. And the pistol was given to Danny Glover in Predator 2 after he successfully slew a Predator in single combat, and it had a custom nameplate with both a fancy European name and a date that fell within the Golden Age of Piracy. The comics had more on it, but I could infer all I needed from the context it was given and the appearance of the gun.
But I guess it belonged to some randy French trapper that happened to speak the local language, sorta-wounded a Predator, and then...well, I guess the tribe isn't long for this world, because it still ended up on a Predator ship by the 1990s.

If you watched the end credits the pictogram retelling of Naru's adventure ends with a Predator ship appearing in the sky over the village, to swelling ominous music. Implying that the Predator's companions returned and something really bad happened to Naru and her people. I guess the more defensible position the war chief moved her tribe to wasn't defensible enough. And we know her pistol ends up in the trophy hall on the ship in 1990 when it is given to Danny Glover in Predator 2.

What the HELL is with the magic flower that somehow cools people to the temperature of the environment in seconds, which those people somehow survive? How the Hell is that supposed to work? And why would that even render people invisible to the predator? Things still radiate heat at different rates, even when they're all at the same temperature. Which is lucky for the Predator, otherwise it would be walking into trees, and tripping over rocks.

It is basically an example of "in the kindgom of the blind, one-eyed is the king" - when we take a look at less than stellar history of Predator sequels (basically everything after Predator 2)... Prey looks like a masterpiece in comparison.
My biggest problems are lack of good personality of its characters and most importantly the fact that Predator... is out of character - the bloody thing does not exactly act like a haunter most of the time, it acts like a mumbling idiot - going into traps, basically brute forcing its way into direct combat like a video game boss being like "I have enough HP to tank this shit".
I mean, in the original, Predator was very strong and difficult to kill indeed, but it relied on subtle tactics until the ending - honourable duel, basically.
Speaking of Predator's honour... the part with the bomb baffles me - in the original movie, it was implied, and confirmed in later lore that suicide through a bomb is basically a way for a predator to preserve honour when mortally wounded. Not to mention, the bracer that Predator in Prey discarded was shown to contain some sort of computer vital for decent portion of its equipment...
Another thing is the mask - the skull mask of the new Predator is cool... but it was heavily implied in original that mask contains apparatus making it easier for Predator to breathe - it is an alien being, it is logical for it to come from a place with different air composition - open mouth design of mask in Prey therefore makes little sense... Oh... and mask was more firmly attached to the head, so it being knocked out easily by protagonist's brother also makes no sense - you know, considering it doubles as re-breather for an alien creature that tends to run a lot and jump on trees, you don't want this thing to fall of easily, yet it does in Prey.
And while we are pointing lore inconsistencies - Predator's cloak was shown to not function when wet, it short circuits... Yet in Prey it has no issues working when drenched in river water and bear blood, despite this Predator's gear being more primitive than in original.
It was an okay, flawed movie... but it is treated like second coming of Christ, which honestly is overhyping and overselling it horribly.

@Coramelimane A few people complaining about something is not the same as the audience complaining. If you want something more like an audience you might try Rotten Tomatoes over Incel KZclip clusters. Prey has a 93% critic score and even with Incels using KZclip and discord servers to try and tank the public reception still has a 73% audience score. That means a vast majority of all voters professional and user are positive so you don't have a point. @Nate B It works in Hollywood, stop over thinking the thing. In Hollywood movies things get powers because the plot needs them sometimes. Star Wars did it, they had a entire cult of magic wizards with some kind of midichlorians that gave them magic powers. Luke was able to talk to his dead friend in space so he could get advice on how to use the Force. In the second movie this same dead friend tells him to see out Yoda. Hollywood.

I would point to LotR and RoP as a demonstration. Many INCELs moaned that RoP was not being true to the LORE, which most of them never read so they took to be the movie LotR but not the Hobbit movies. Selective much? But a look at what Tolkien's estate and the International due paying Tolkien Society said what LotR film essentially raped the source to make an action movie for. boys. RoP has more estate and professional Tolkien scholar input and is more true to the LORE of the books than the movies

@Face Face Okay, there is this woman in this native community who wants to become a hunter. Its a Predator movie so nothing about the alien has to make sense. The Predator makes easy work of a group of French and Native men but the Predator also rejects her threat. So in a nightime battle which suspends less disbelief then Terminator 2 or Star Trek 3 you have a nice night fight with a really hot looking female star kicking its ass and then going home to crow about the achievement. Its kind of a movie, its summer time, fun film the family can sit on the coach in the air-con and watch together.

@Savage Shot I am not sure how Prey changed much of anything from Predator: the Predator functions essentially the same, they look differently but its 100s of years before. If anything Prey marks a return to classic Predator after the Redator Vs Alien and later sequels tried to turn the Predator into the good guy. Prey is the most like Predator returning to themes of American colonialization, mono on mono in the woods, and the need to outsmart the Predator.

    • Savage Shot

@Bob Hooker I mean to the beginning of your comment yes thats my point, you were speaking as if you understood exactly how the predator was functioning.
Sci fi movies of course require some suspension of disbelief, but that doesn't mean the in-universe parameters that its sets can just be changed or else the audience is basically alienated to it because the universe itself is alien to its own rules if its contradicting itself or its set of rules in said sci fi universe.
The quotes you're providing mean nothing to me. Do with that as you will, Im indifferent to the new star wars movies.
Edit: What did you think of the star wars movies?

100% by the predator's experience, any human that's not French with a metal gun is pretty much holding a stick with string (bow and arrow) or a stick tied to a rock (tomahawk/axe) and he's seems just fine killing her fellow comanches in the woods.
The logical predator thing to do is kill ALL the humans once he realizes they weaponize wooden sticks. Hence, no more innocent by-standers.

The bear was going after Naru and she wasn't winning. The Predator beat the bear, therefore she was second-handedly beaten as well, and so not a worthy opponent at the time.

The beginning of the movie really worked against it, in my opinion. The movie goes to a decent length to build up the setting and the society the main character lives in, but it's totally undermined by the choice of main character. Given the realities of tribal life, the main character wouldn't have had the time to learn much of anything about hunting as she would have had her own set of responsibilities, and more than likely, would have already been with child given her age.
The thing is, this could have been remedied if they just shifted the main character's background to being an outsider to the tribe. They could have kept her as a woman while also realistically explaining why she has the time and knowledge to hunt as an outsider might naturally be excluded from daily life.

Making her an outsider would not be unprecedented either. For the Comanche, and many native nations in general, outsiders were often integrated into the society, sometimes forcefully, other times not. I haven’t seen the movie but this looks like before the Comanche started their empire building meaning there would be less outsiders and everyone would be more wary of them for their own survival against other tribes and settlers.

I like how the French explorers, farther west than they could've been in real life at that time, are dumb and terrible at surviving and fighting. They managed to stay alive, uncaptured and freely operating on Comanche or Apache land , which would require a variety of exceptional skills - none of which they have in the film.

The French were VERY thin on the ground in North America, which is why during the French and Indian Wars, the French officers and professional soldiers relied on Indian allies. Apparently the landholding classes in France didn't want their serfs running away to a new life in the new world==who'd worth their estates, then?
THAT being said, the French were pretty much restricted to the NORTH of the Continent, on the Canadian border. That's why Sacajawea was married to a French Mountain man. The Commanches didn't move south into 'Spanish North America' until later--it was when they moved south that they became 'The Empire of The Summer Moon' (better to be the hunter than the prey, so to speak).
I don't know why, but the Spanish bribed the Commanches with gold, horses, weapons (and bought their slaves) and flattery to keep 'em from causing too much trouble.
What happened next I'm not too clear about but 'Mexico' got independence from Spain (trouble with Napoleon made it too hard to keep the colonies?) The government of Independent Mexico (which almost certainly meant politicians/officers/bureaucrats/landowners who were Spanish extracted) stopped paying the tributes to the Commanches because they started bickering among themselves for the 'riches' the country had.

It’s dark and gritty, the urban theme is done brilliantly, the lead character is brilliant, side characters are good, there’s many memorable scenes - the Prince Willie alley scene, the train scene, the cemetery scene, etc., there’s a fantastic third act and final battle, there are some damn disturbing but epic kills, there’s more depth when it comes to the lore - great film.

Your point about Frenchie's quick explanation of how to use his flintlock pistol is dead on.
I paused the movie and asked my wife if she understood the instructions and felt like she could now load that weapon properly and she emphatically said no. And she's at least heard of guns and seen them in numerous movies, so she had some idea what gunpowder is, and what she called "bullets" though her use of that word was wrong, but she described the lead shot fairly accurately. She knew there was a rod she would have to remove but wasn't sure why. So she had a head start on Naru and didn't understand it.

I just finished this movie and I audibly said, "This is the Simple Rick of Predators."
The Protagonist got SUPER lucky very consistently. The orange flower touches your tongue and your heat signature is instantly gone from head to toe? He can track a blood trail, but can't see a grown woman standing directly in front of him as he moves forward? He gets her with his shield, but she falls directly between two rocks, stopping the shield with perfect timing. I mean, I've heard of plot armor, but come on!
Why does this Yautja have arrows? They have space travel, invisibility, layered vision, instant wound sealant, but no plasma caster? Why does this Predator seem to have no grasp for how his Arrow Caster operates? Why did he just kinda drop his spear, essentially just handing it to her, when the pupper nipped at his heels? He literally bodied a grizzly bear earlier and now a little ole pupper nipping at his ankles is going to make him go into full retard spasm attack? SENSORY OVERLOAD SENSORY OVERLOAD.
This was possibly the worst movie I have ever seen.

as long as we're making up back stories out of thin air....i 'd like to say that it LOOKED like the comanche girl is actually a synthetic, one of the androids from Aliens, but a prototype.
      That would explain why
      she's able to outfight it,
      outsmart it,
      understand laser sighting,
      collapsible pred armor,
      thermal imaging,
survive a bear trap with no limp,
      knows medicine,
      knows hunting,
      knows tracking,
      overshadows veteran tribal hunters,
      outfight hardened French trappers,
understand space travel (instead of thinking the "gods are angry" when she sees the ship in the sky)
Or....we could accept the story for the inconsistencies it presents, instead of making things up

One of the great things about keeping the alien off screen is that we are generally only allowed to see the creature when the cast sees the creature and generally with the same clarity. We get to experience the characters first real sighting of the alien with them. Our foreknowledge of the alien enhances rather than diminishes the moment.

Does he have no way of confirming or controlling that at all? Is it simply distance based? The helmet far away =manual aim mode… Was he firing just hoping it would hit her? I think it is fair to say he didn’t understand his own technology if he managed to unintentionally shoot himself in the head. Even for the sake of discussion if the automated laser targeting is supposed to be deactivated based on distance away from the firearm… shouldn’t he refrain from relying on it at any capacity knowing his helmet was confiscated from him and nowhere to be found. It’s not like he was strapped for options and desperate.

Your body is a chemical furnace; if your core temperature gets to low, we call that "hypothermia" and it's medically classified as "a bad thing". I think why people liked it and maybe going a bit over the top in praising it isn't because of any writing, technical or directing brilliance. compared to many modern films it's traditional story telling done well, it shows not tells, the scenery is gorgeous. when you compare this to many recent adventure films there's no sense of location, the stories are overly complicated and are usually setting up some big pay-off four films away.

I was also confused why the Predator went after random animals that happened to be predators, talk about being literal. Yes they hunt big game as it were, but Predators had a tendency to observe their targets before going after their prize, not just immediately pursue them. Why would it need to slay a snake? The only one that made sense was the bear, at least in terms of posing a moderate threat (also a callback to one of the comics where a Predator gets it arse kicked by a Mother bear) but I also like that the movie thinks these animals can all see something that's meant to be invisible, and attack the invisible threat, because that's how wild animals work and isn't absurd at all...

I really wanted him to have a bigger role and it looked like the girl and him would have had some sort of team up and then out of no where they kill him off. Fans have been wondering about that pistol for years and finally we get an answer of who carried it only for him to be stepped on and killed.

for the finale fight, i think shes supposed to have seen it like an advanced bow and arrow. where he looks, the red light follows, and the arrow follows the light. not different from how they use a bow, her brother shot a bird at the start of the movie. the predator probably thought the helmet was far enough away to not interfere with “manual” aim and fired it, not knowing the “aim” assist was activated. its probably the ONLY viable outcome where she lives because if it had used any other weapon or a few different scenarios and she wouldnt have been as lucky.

@Tengen Uzui As Falcor the luck dragon. Well its true some depictions of me has something resembling a dog like snout. Its mostly meant to show my teeth or fangs and on closer inspection the image looks nothing like a dog. Its very clearly based on that of a constrictor or snake or other predatory snakes..
I have feathers due to my ability to fly and to better show off. My feathers and colors matches that of a actual living bird in the America's named after me called the Quetzal. These feathers can either be only around my head and neck area like a main or run all along my body. Typically the colors are Reds, Orange Reds, Yellows, Golds, Green, Emerald, occasionally some blues. Again like the bird. This also means I might also have had wings or flaps like the actual real flying snake that does indeed exist. (it just falls in style)
Asian Dragons are kinda effy. Depending on the breed, importance, strength or abilities. For the most part they are depicted usually in a serpent style body with scales occasionally with hair. the Face can be dog shaped or looks like a reptiles face and or that of a alligator. Always had legs and tended to have massive feeler hairs sticking out of the nose. They represent divine power, immortality, and strength despite the fact they themselves are fairly peaceful mostly. Despite looking terrifying half the time. Least when I close My mouth I look pretty chill instead of being terrifying.
Falcor is not a Asian Dragon although he clearly inherits many of the attributes of them. He is a luck dragon created by imagination and I would say he is more comparable to myself. Like me he is based on a living animal in this case a Dog with a elongated body of a reptile but retains many traits of a dog, appearance, ears, fur, paws. Tail. He is wise, polite, desires friends and companions, gives advice and has a sense of humor. After the general shock seeing him the first time you get over it pretty quickly given how nice he is.
Fun fact Falcor exist in the real world still at a museum and you can ride him.

A benefit of having the predator picking off the strongest warriors off-screen is that it gives you a (imo at least) more practical rationale for strong female lead to move into the 'traditionally male' hunter role - the tribe needs bodies in the role to the point where it doesn't *matter* what gender they are.

The explanation they give for why the Predator comes out of cloaking in the original films is that it's hunting to challenge itself and it's considered dishonourable to do so while cloaked because it's too easy. So, when the Predator is killing all those animals and people while cloaked, it goes against established lore and the predators' culture.

The thing that bothered me about the laser sight, was that she never sees it, yet knows how it works.
It's never smoky enough to see a beam.
She sees the guy get shot, but she is standing behind him. (first guy).
She kneels next to a guy who gets shot at, and she saves him, knowing that darts are about to come his way. How?
Wouldn't she have reacted the same way the first guy did, by thinking they were a physical thing, like bugs?
When her brother knocks the helmet off, she (again) does not see the dots, only the helmet, and no beam, so how does she make the connection between the helmet and the darts going into the tree (that she can't see because they are hitting the opposite side of the tree that she is facing)?
Also setting the lement where she did, would imply she knew exactly where the predator would be when using THAT weapon.
The Predator knew it didn't have the face shield, so why would it fire the darts?
What if the predator used one of it's other many weapons at that moment?
RULE: Great to have characters conveniently fall into trouble,
but it is really bad writing to have them conveniently get out of trouble.

@TheMitsinga I was always under the impression that’s how he takes his trophies (if given the time). We do see him just straight up right out a spine and skull in part 2 but it looks like a skull, as in skinned and scalped. So I just assumed it was a rush job. Even in the first one it comes back to take is it Poncho or Hawkins body, one of the two so he can get his trophy. There’s a Predator video game for like 360, pretty good. And it was canon at the time. You could string up enemies hanging like in the movies and when you took your “trophy” the resulting corpse would be skinned. Any prey “not worthy” would most likely be ignored like the unarmed woman from the first one. Or Leona (because she’s pregnant) in the sequel.

  • mandalas48

To add a point here for a little correction 1: the bullet ricochet because the skull has a built in thermal armor in the skull and the predator in this movie is showing his tech that was use in this timeline before the other predator movies were made. 2: he's hunting because in his culture, he is finding the best hunt to prove to himself to his species so they are send off to find the best hunt and make them as trophies. 3: the predators tech is what they have made up too this timeline. Ps: love your videos and big fan keep them up please do not mind my comment it's just to let you know about the lore of they're species and explaining my point where there are the movies wrongs but again it was good because of what the lore about the predator species is about in the movie

Finally! Finally a DEFINITIVE review of this overrated schlock of a prequel. Yes I'm a hardcore Predator fan and I believed prey was really overrated AF and had one of the dumbest lamest predators in the franchise. I was ok with both Amber and her brother but there were seriously too many conveniently silly moments that happen just to make her triumphant for the sake of it! Thankfully a great review like this hits almost all the problems I had with this flick! He misses pointing out the fact that the Predator invisibility is inconsistent with the first in that it never glitches when it gets hit by water. And it's weird that this Predator's medikit is MORE advanced than the other films!! But other than that, this is a very solid review unlike all the others that overpraise and overrate this, makes me wonder if those people even know Predator at all, even if they claim to be so-called fans. The biggest laugh of the century are those that claim prey is superior to the original!! The only bit disagree with this review is him claiming this franchise should stay dead.

Let's not forget she was in it to establish herself as the chieftain. No remorse for her dead brother or 6-7 other hunters npc's that have fallen. And as a viewer, it's really easy to forget about them because they all didn't have any background story- so it was actually quite convenient. I mean, they didn't have to have a huge part of the film. Just tiny tidbits to let us know they are human too, with deeper motives. However, then the film maker would need to tell men's stories again- and you'll be outcast from whatever pot of money the 'woke' industry has.

I actually prefer the older brother to the main character least he was mostly level headed and a dang good hunter.

That was not a Predator movie. It was a movie about a woman's path to emancipation, it was about people following their dreams no matter what other people will say or do, it was about braking the rules and finally, it was a tribute to Comanche ethics, customs and culture. Oh, and a Predator happened to pass by with his spaceship and decided to take a leak on Earth or something...!

Thank you for this thorough and unflinching review. On the surface it seemed like they had the basic elements to make a decent film but I gave up on this film after 30 mins due to the poor plot and lack of characterization. Something that would have kept my attention would have been to have the natives speaking a native language, like in The Northman. I'm sure if anyone had that idea it was torpedoed by the studio because they think Americans are too lazy to read subtitles. And they're probably right.

The Northman was mostly English wasn't it? Is there another version? Or has my memory just gone to absolute shit?

Wait... if main character is slightly chilled, and is therefore invisible, how does Pred navigate anywhere!?!? Arnie was down on the ground, among tree branches and rocks and things. And, if you look back at that movie, you can see where Arnie is if you look close enough. Pred would just keep walking into cliff-faces, and very large rocks, if he couldn't see something because it's slightly chilled.
