This one was quite a journey! I've been super busy filming and planning stuff. Got another vid comin in hot in about 2 weeks that's a real banger. Insta/Twitter/TicTok- @MarkRober
Imagine disscuing this with a guy thats literally buying all the farm land and is openly ok with humans switching to eating insects like the peasants we are.
You have a remarkable gift for distilling these topics down to the most essential elements, explaining them in a very accessible and impactful way, and making people believe the solution is easily achievable. You are an excellent role-model. Thank you for educating us!
I love that kid, "This isn't meat, it vegetables?" She's like. "You tricked me into eating *VEGITABLES* she's like a Muslim who has been served pork by mistake.
@Volgal I'm not sure about that but if you hate logicity, then yeah I don't think you should invite me because the sole purpose of my life is not to be fun at parties.
@Pants enFuego okay😂😂😂 lol I don't even know what these people are arguing over. It takes 10 times the amount of veg food to produce 1 kg of meat not to mention the maintenance cost and the methane they release.
@sahil bishnoi that you think you’re making a point that “cows don’t come pokeballs” is really idiotic. You’re not clever, you’re getting destroyed in this comment section.
Tacos could be made from anything... the seasoning in taco meat is so overpowering you could put it on a steamy vat of basically smashed up wet bread and still make a taco. Taco Bell does it every day. 😂😂
@John Sort of like the way people are used to driving gas-guzzling SUV s to go 50 feet down the street (not a valid excuse for not caring about the planet.)
You sold me, Mark, as usual. You have an amazing gift for simplifying these things, and making the info accessible. I'm trying them both this week. Thank you. =)
These burgers are not hard to get, I’ve seen them advertised on tv, they were selling them at an amusement park I went to. My family has even bought some sometimes
It's insane how just a few years ago, I would read articles about some scientific company that created a plant-based meat in a lab, with the downside of it costing tens of thousands of dollars per pound. Now we can just buy it in a grocery store as if it were a regular patty.
08:32 LOL, I also do that when self-opening doors open :'-D And a very informative video, as always!! This sounds very interesting! I will try those burgers if I find them
Hey Mark, just wanted to let you know that I appreciate the facts that you present, as well as the fact that it wasn't force-fed to us like most sources. Keep making great videos!
Hi Mark, love your channel, (not sure how I missed this video for the past 2 years). I'm not vegetarian but my wife and daughter are, so I'm like 50% vegetarian. In the past 20 years they have come a very long way in plant-based meat substitute.
While bill was talking I thought he was pretty normal and I could manage a conversation but then he started nerding out about the planet and stuff and I got completely lost. You rock bill.
You are an absolute all star in the field of science. If there was a hall of fame you would be well on your way. As you are invited to meet others who are known for their contributions in the field such as Gates (and who has been rewarded handsomely to say the least), I'd be interested to know if he flew you on one his four private jets. The reason I ask is due to his concern for global warming and the kind of imprint those of extraordinary wealth have on it.
When Bill Gates stops flying his personal jet wherever he wants, I’ll stop driving my car to work. He doesn’t have to have a personal jet to survive. I have to drive to work to feed my family.
Trust the big happy billionaire, it's not like he's spent hundreds of millions on PR to try make himself look more likable so he can get away with other shenanigans :)
Noooo you can't think for yourself serf... I mean.... citizen! trust the computer guy and the scientists to determine every aspect of your life! They know better! It's for their... I mean... your own well being!
So glad you made this video. This is such important and valid information that everyone must know. I love the impossible burger. I gave up eating meat long ago, one of the best decisions I ever made.
Idk, I tried the Impossible Whopper Challenge. I definitely was able to tell which was the plant version. It may have been the cook for that day, but the impossible patty tasted like burn hair.
I tried a beyond meat burger with my vegetarian friend for the first time thinking I won't be amazed, but I was jaw dropped when the taste, the smell, the texture, EVERYTHING is the same as the normal burger. Too bad it's 3x the cost of a normal burger for now, but in the future I may be eating more stuff like this if it's as affordable as the current burger.
Bill probably had the munchies. I wonder what he's like while high, how does his mind work? He looked disappointed in the pizza about not getting pizza rolls, you were like here's some pizza rolls and he instantly went for them like shaggy.
That is heartbreaking. Our schools are failing us. I always loved science class, and I remember in high school having a teacher that literally had us do color by numbers. It was insulting. I hated that class.
I’ve been a vegetarian for years and I’m happy to give anyone tips on brands or information 😊 I also think that vegetarians and vegans should be respectful and not shove a diet down anyones throat
Any advice for individuals allergic to tree nuts, specifically low-carb protein options? The products he mentioned here have coconut oil, so they are not an option for me.
Yeah but climate change is a pretty giant impending problem, if more people don't become vegan or vegetarian then it will be many times more difficult to reverse climate change.
@Valrhys Salmonella is bacteria. If meat is tested, fresh and was properly stored you won't get it. If it's hot day and meat was outside fridge for relatively long time than yes, you can get it.
Honestly, I'd be concerned with your country's meat quality if you *couldn't* eat raw beef or pork. It's generally completely safe if handled properly.
forgot to mention that he is heavily invested in these companies and has hundreds of thousands of acres of farmland that could be used to produce these ingredients
I watched this a couple years ago and I watch it annually. The more I watch this, the more I want to dedicate my career to this. I’m going through Senior High School admissions and I find myself doubting my career choice. I really want to change to change my course to an environmental engineer instead of a mechanical engineer but too scared to do so.
Personally I switched from Environmental Engineering to Mechanical Engineering because of how easy it is to make a difference with ME than ENVE. ENVE is very narrow in its scope (water, air, and soil). Most of the work out there is consulting for large companies trying to clean up or prevent messes from happening in the water, air, or soil. If you want to develop new products and learn how to solve complex problems like renewable energy, biotechnology, agricultural efficiency, and more, I think Mechanical Engineering is a great background to have!
I like how Mark says that he can eat the "beef" raw because it is made from plants. Anyone with even a hint of class knows steak tartare is eaten raw. Big facepalm there for Mark.
Yeah, vegetarian and vegan meat or alternitives are amazing. I made some vegan chicken nuggets not too long ago and they tasted just like meat-based chicken nuggets, if not better, which is a huge plus since they are also alot cheaper
It is ironic, but at the same time, by doing so he reached 53 million people. Even if only a very small percentage of those switch out some of their meat that still is a large difference.
He said that athletes are switching to impossible burgueses because they want to stay away from food that are inflammatory. But this burger has soy and sunflower oil that are both inflammatory.
That makes you wonder about a lot of things. You take chicken, for example: maybe they couldn't figure out what to make chicken taste like, which is why chicken tastes like everything.
Vegetarian for life. Meat has made my gain weight, bloated, and feel tired all the time. When I switched over and started working out, i honestly feel a whole lot better.
As a pescatarian who is miserable during the summertime when I smell meat grilling on the barbecue, I can’t wait to try these plant-based alternatives including the bratwurst since I live in Wisconsin! Thank you so much for this video, Mark! The interview with Bill Gates is fascinating!

Ok
Albert Einstein should take notes
Ancogmeato?
Bill seems like a nice guy, he should start a company
bruh
Lol
@Saxermen R/itswooooshwith4os
@Uplift40 very late but it’s 2 trillion dollars now
Imagine casually telling a chef that he needs to train you to cook for Bill Gates in less than most likely 2 hours
Imagine disscuing this with a guy thats literally buying all the farm land and is openly ok with humans switching to eating insects like the peasants we are.
😂

Ummmmmmm
industrially produce? yes it does cost a lot. Naturally? mommy cow and daddy cow.
Mark is just a nice guy because he doesn’t say that u have to be a full vegetarian but can be balanced
imagine just casually being friends with bill gates
Ask Epstein what that's like... Oh wait.
"Thanks, Satan."
Bill Gates and Angus Young lmao ironically they are both the same age from 1955 lol
Imagine casually cooking in bill gate’s kitchen
@Imfamiliar Funny
Totally support the message, but I think it would have been honest to also tell the viewer that Bill invested heavily in both those companies...
and he owns like 60 percent of all farm land in the US
Bill doesn't like to be transparent about his "business" relations and investments...
Remember the number one owner of airable land and farmland is the number one person trying to get rid of meat.
@RPKDovercooking*
Gates now the largest owner of farmland in America.

I love this channel it’s not just fun, but interesting and helps you learn a lot. Thank you!
I'm pretty sure that Bill Gates' private jet isn't super environmental-friendly
@Shay May they are, did you even watch the video?
@PN they arent
transportation electricity and industry are the biggest by 75%
Agreed
@Shay May i mean it is
Thank yoooou!!
Somehow cows are the biggest contributing factor...
Watching this video 2 years late. And at 3:40 I saw an instrument that my company builds. So cool to know what they are being used for!
Badass!
@NoFearJoker That's awesome 🙌
@JBL Asutavario lmao
same, 2 years late
@JBL Asutavario sorry 3:41. its the rheometer and heat exchanger
I've never tried this stuff, but I think I will now. Once you said you could make tacos with it, that sparked my interest!
Tacos could be made from anything... the seasoning in taco meat is so overpowering you could put it on a steamy vat of basically smashed up wet bread and still make a taco. Taco Bell does it every day. 😂😂
Can’t go wrong with taco
@John Sort of like the way people are used to driving gas-guzzling SUV s to go 50 feet down the street (not a valid excuse for not caring about the planet.)

Yeah ok
@Skinny Buddha his points were pretty valid, but I would love to here u dispute all his points ?

Economics of scale.
Blind person: listens to video
Mark: so let’s throw this puppy on the grill
No different than throwing a cow on the grill.
Blind person: 👁👄👁
LOL
@Sameerjit Singh why would they not know what a puppy is???
08:32 LOL, I also do that when self-opening doors open :'-D
And a very informative video, as always!! This sounds very interesting! I will try those burgers if I find them
I didn't even notice that xD
I've actually heard that McDonalds might start serving plant based nuggets now which would be VERY cool.
Hey Mark, just wanted to let you know that I appreciate the facts that you present, as well as the fact that it wasn't force-fed to us like most sources. Keep making great videos!

Next time you should ask him why he's buying all of the farmland.
bill is a Monster
So that you have no choice but to buy it's "meat"
For reals! Probably to make GMO foods with other chemicals added.
We need a part 2 with Gordon Ramsay
Its plants
it can't be raw as a plant based meat
where’s the lamb SAUCE
Lol
While no one is 100% honest, i do respect the honesty that you show in your videos
This KZclip video is so well made and I love it, I’ve watched it upwards of 5 times now! 👍🏻
While bill was talking I thought he was pretty normal and I could manage a conversation but then he started nerding out about the planet and stuff and I got completely lost. You rock bill.
this video goes into great detail
I love how there are more windows behind Bill Gates than there are real meat on their table
Tf does that even mean
You are an absolute all star in the field of science. If there was a hall of fame you would be well on your way. what I learned: *we should start eating the sun*
I. Already ate It😂😂😂
😂😂
The sun tasted like pain and fire.
The sun: what *** *****
WHAT DA HAIL
I didn't even realize the Impossible breakfast sandwich at Starbucks had no meat until I realized what Impossible meant XD
When Bill Gates stops flying his personal jet wherever he wants, I’ll stop driving my car to work. He doesn’t have to have a personal jet to survive. I have to drive to work to feed my family.

Thank you so much for your videos!! YOU ARE INCREDIBLE!
Honestly I’ve tried a beyond meat burger and it was a completely different experience
Imagine feeding this to Gordon Ramsay.
Watch Mr beasts wila wanka factory and the first contestant that's how
ITS FOOKING ROWWW

I love that
😳
So glad you made this video. This is such important and valid information that everyone must know. I love the impossible burger. I gave up eating meat long ago, one of the best decisions I ever made.
Used to eat tons of meat but have been vegetarian for 5 years. Products like these make it super easy.
I like how he used the force to open the sliding door
Idk, I tried the Impossible Whopper Challenge. I definitely was able to tell which was the plant version. It may have been the cook for that day, but the impossible patty tasted like burn hair.
thats just burger king in general
You know you've made it when you get a eat a burgie with Mr. Gates
burgie
burgie
Burgie
True
Bill:Eats pizza rolls
Mark:Respect++
Mark is the only person who could convince me to be a vegetarian
made me feel like wanna be a half-vegan just because of this
I tried a beyond meat burger with my vegetarian friend for the first time thinking I won't be amazed, but I was jaw dropped when the taste, the smell, the texture, EVERYTHING is the same as the normal burger.
Too bad it's 3x the cost of a normal burger for now, but in the future I may be eating more stuff like this if it's as affordable as the current burger.
@BurnedByADragon well ur suposed to cook it
I tried it one time just to see how close it was and it was super gooey and tasted funny I ate about 1/3 of it before throwing it away.
Well it tastes better than any cheap buger from a fast food restaraunt and u can buy it and make it at home easily for a lot less
I had a very different experience in which it literally melted.
you give me hope in life over and over again whenever im down
When you want to know what is in your veggie burger you...
Mark: flies to a scientific lab and talks to professionals
Me: reads the side of the box
this comment has gone south
@Turtle Gaki haha how many burner accounts are you going to make?
@Will N Shhh your ignorance is showing as well, you should educate yourself more.
Soylent Green, anyone?
@HelloHi hi hello hi.. what are you asking what about my post?
please be specific
thank you

That's why i love this guy.♥️
Bill probably had the munchies. I wonder what he's like while high, how does his mind work? He looked disappointed in the pizza about not getting pizza rolls, you were like here's some pizza rolls and he instantly went for them like shaggy.
I learned what no meat Monday is from this and have been following it since this video was made
Sounds like a Really easy decision .......i need to try it myself first , and i still love my steaks....i will forsure start doing Meatless Mondays!
You should’ve took him to space!
I love how you’re just casually going to Bill gates house and cooking for him
@ben Nuggetbro is correcting the commenter and can’t spell “attention” so says “atention”💀💀💀💀💀
ffs do you even know what is a commercial
Yea nothing to do with increasing his reputation or visibily for his product
Normal Tuesdays
Big break for this Bill guy! Hope things work out for him.
Stop simping for the nerd. He doesn't care what you think.
just watched this whole thing while eating a shawarma and i dont regret a single thing
I've tried the impossible whopper, and although slight, you can tell it's not real meat.
I am all for plant based burgers so long as you don’t change the barbecue sauce.
funny enough i have yet to find a barbecue sauce that is not 100% plant based
That's an awesome video, made my day. Thx for the effort, I really hope this makes a change. Have a nice day everyone.
I learned more about plants, water, animals, and the planet itself than I did a year in science class.
That is heartbreaking. Our schools are failing us. I always loved science class, and I remember in high school having a teacher that literally had us do color by numbers. It was insulting. I hated that class.
Facts
Same
Same
No cap that’s true
I wish I could afford flying around the world on a private jet and then also be able to afford my carbon emissions with eating plant based meats.
Worst idea ever
It's actually amazing this can totally change the world
speaking of saving energy, Bill Gates travels in his 2 private jets and 7 cars.
I’ve been a vegetarian for years and I’m happy to give anyone tips on brands or information 😊 I also think that vegetarians and vegans should be respectful and not shove a diet down anyones throat
@Heather Anderson mushrooms and beans.
Top 3 tips would be great, yeah :)
i like burgers
I need to start opening automatic grocery store doors using the force as well.
Kid: *Eating burger*
Mark: The burger isn't made out of meat
Kid: *Questions her Existence*
Hassan Alabri DIDNT FUNNY BAHAHHHAHAHAHA
@Hassan Alabri ?
@Hassan Alabri
Grammar go brrrrr
8:12 shadow dio:Hmmm....
She was a cake all along
"Veggie burger, it's not a veggie burger that is a bean and cabbage sandwich. (pans over to Mark) This, is a veggie burger"
High key the first company recipe looks a lot better
I am proud to be a vegetarian now because before my friends use to tease me by this
Still my favorite video on your channel. It is amazing you made me try this. I love it.
I tried an impossible burger and it tasted like a breakfast sausage
Me : *under cooks plant based burger*
Gordon Ramsay : "IT'S RAW!"
Me : "Nice try."
@Petaurista Mhmmm.
@Valrhys Salmonella is bacteria. If meat is tested, fresh and was properly stored you won't get it. If it's hot day and meat was outside fridge for relatively long time than yes, you can get it.
@Petaurista Mark ate the plant based burger "raw" at the beginning of the video. I doubt he would do it if he knew he would get salmonella.
Learn English... "raw" means undercooked/baked/etc. No matter what. Yes' rew vegetables exist.
@Nick Craft NL yeah youtube did it to save bandwith now that mostly everyone is in lockdown and people whatch a lot of youtube
my first time trying plant base meat was meatballs with spaghetti and it wasnt bad but it tasted weird the moment i bit it i knew it wasnt meat
Mark; thank you for validating my love for peanut butter.
thanks now im craving a burger
I've said it a year ago and I'll say it again.
I want someone to look at me the way he looks at bill @10:37.
You know what mark, if anyone should be chosen to save the environment, it’s you.
Mark Rober: You know why I can eat this raw? Because its made out of plants.
Cameraman: Oh that's the real beef
Mark Rober: *oh sh-*
@Cole Pollock You can eat an entire raw steak and be fine. It has benefits too.
you can eat raw meat jus not high amount the little amount he had on the fork wouldn’t hurt him if it was real meat
Koala Kontrol Jr you’re talking about raw eggs...
Honestly, I'd be concerned with your country's meat quality if you *couldn't* eat raw beef or pork. It's generally completely safe if handled properly.
@Swan It's a thing yes, but parasites and bacteria are still a concern when eating raw meat.
forgot to mention that he is heavily invested in these companies and has hundreds of thousands of acres of farmland that could be used to produce these ingredients
Great video, Mark!
I watched this a couple years ago and I watch it annually. The more I watch this, the more I want to dedicate my career to this. I like how Mark says that he can eat the "beef" raw because it is made from plants. Anyone with even a hint of class knows steak tartare is eaten raw. Big facepalm there for Mark.
"anyone with a hint of class" would understand that you do not simply eat ground beef out of the package. Big eyeroll there n00b3r
Love your videos!!!
"There's no meat in that burger"
I think you flat-out shattered her worldview.
@Chris I've never met a vegan that look sickly and know plenty of vegans, meat eaters on the other hand...
@TheRavenMonarch Plants oils are NOT healthier than animal fats... If that was true, why does every vegan look sickly..
@TheRavenMonarch I eat real meats to save the planet from cow farts.
Sapere Aude evidence?
@Alexfrommd no, even small quantities of meat. Especially red meat.
Mark:This one was quite a journey
Me:I feel bad 😞 for the animals
Mark your the 🐐 love your channel ❤
We need more cooking for Bill Gates videos
Yeah, vegetarian and vegan meat or alternitives are amazing. I made some vegan chicken nuggets not too long ago and they tasted just like meat-based chicken nuggets, if not better, which is a huge plus since they are also alot cheaper
Congrats to mark for eating that patty after flying to another state and back again!
It is ironic, but at the same time, by doing so he reached 53 million people. Even if only a very small percentage of those switch out some of their meat that still is a large difference.
The irony. Saving the world from cow farts by fly back and forth on an airplane.
Mark: *Casually talks, and cooks for one of the richest people in the world*
@Addilyn Tripp you have friends?
i cant even open my mouth to breath near a person.
And why does it matter if you have money?
Bro he the 4 richest imagine being with the richest person
The second richest man in the world
Tormentso The Bone Doggo he was
He said that athletes are switching to impossible burgueses because they want to stay away from food that are inflammatory. But this burger has soy and sunflower oil that are both inflammatory.
@John Baxter Saturated fats cause inflammation. Red and processed meats contain saturated fats.
@Bageht by what mechanism is meat inflammatory?
@John Baxter You probably did not, because red meat and processed meats can be inflammatory. I stated this in a previous reply.
@DarkCoreX I did. Obviously you haven't.
@John Baxter look it up
That makes you wonder about a lot of things.
Mark: “ I only post 12 videos a year so it’s very important what I post”
Also Mark:” I pranked bill gates”
The area used for having the cows live there is usually marginal land, which is land that cannot be used for growing crops, i.e. too hilly, gravely.
my man’s a legend for giving bill gates pizza rolls 2x when meeting him
Ahmad Harith Bin Mohamad Noor it just sounds funny lol
elimc126 ✓ idk
Luis Robaina I do believe it's Totinos not tortinos
As a pescatarian who is miserable during the summertime when I smell meat grilling on the barbecue, I can’t wait to try these plant-based alternatives including the bratwurst since I live in Wisconsin! Thank you so much for this video, Mark! The interview with Bill Gates is fascinating!
He’s an absolute chad
what i like about mark and bill is the fact they are taking not only what its made of but of could happen in the future
It turns out that one ounce of almonds requires 23 gallons of water, so 23 X 16 ounces in a pound equals of water for that bag of tasty nuts you just bought at the store.
Sadly I can’t do this, I’m literally allergic to like half the ingredients.
