Fire Creek Forge
Күні қосылды
Hello, my name is Elijah and I am a full time blacksmith and knife maker from Idaho, living in Texas. My focus on Fire Creek Forge is to provide entertaining and informative content on the art and science of forging knives, tools and weapons.
I enjoy building historically inspired projects, and own original ideas. With the vast heritage of blacksmithing across world cultures, this channel is a great way to explore the near infinite possibilities in forging edged tools. I made my first knife over twenty years ago and I still have more ideas than time.
Besides creating KZclip content, I also make heirloom quality working knives and axes to sell in my online store. Most importantly, I'm a husband and father, and a believer in Jesus Christ my savior.
I hope this channel will inform and inspire you.

Miller Face Shield PAPR Product Review, Powered Air Purifying Respirator, Metalworking, Woodworking
This video is from my practical use experience with this PAPR system and the pros and cons I've found with it.
I purchased this Miller Electric brand Powered Air Purifying Respirator system about 6 months ago. I do a large amount of grinding and sanding in my job as a full-time blacksmith and knife maker, so I've had the opportunity to put this product through the paces.

This is the carving style hatchet I forge. It is a multi purpose tool, with a convex edge ground on the bit. I'm using Texas made 1060 steel, fully hardened and tempered after normalizing and grain refinement. The hatchet handles are made from scratch out of hickory. firecreekforge.com patreon.com/firecreekforge #carvinghatchet #blacksmith #axe

Forge welding a knife with 7018E welding electrodes. These welding rods are commonly used for mild steel arc welding applications. Today I'm going to incorporate a bunch of these rods into a super cool knife. The edge steel is 80CrV2 high carbon steel. firecreekforge.com patreon.com/firecreekforge #welding #damascus #forging

So it begins... Rockwell Hardness Tester
So that’s how it’s done!
Possible suggestion to try. When making canister damascus would using an acetylene rich flame to soot up the inside walls work as a release agent?
Love the work, it weirded me out at first when I saw your video because you look exactly like a famous streamer named StoneMountain64 and I thought you were him that just got into forging.
hi did you ever nickel plated something by yourself to then use it in a canister damast? that would be a cool project?
I love the jumpcut to you having a duct tape bandage on.
That came out beautiful!
Beautiful knife
Looks awesome 👏
should use a sawzall with no blade to vibrate
bros holding the rod(pause) what a menace
After knocking the flux off with the hammer I'd use a wire wheel.
I love making knives but I make them for myself. I make what I want to make when I want to make it. If someone wants to buy it great if they don't even better it gives me an excuse to keep it. There's no way I can ever sell knives for a living I don't ever want to sell anything
Love your videos! Beautiful work.
The most beautiful thing I've ever seen... I would give anything to have it ,,:(
можно было бы смотреть, но твой рот не закрывается
The best way to remove the flux is to soak them over night in water. Once you do that it will slip off in a solid sleeve
Wonderful! BTW, check out Torbjörn's recent clip on MoS2+graphite forge lube.
Love the final results!
Okay looking for the ax hold on I will make one. You want broad or wing?
You have to smelt the shavings the use
I'm very new and raw to forging and making knives. May I ask what is the purpose of twisting the hot metal? I've been watching tons of knife makers on here but I can't find an explanation of why to twist. I'm just learning this craft
Yes sir, it is to create the pattern in the steel
Pretty cool/hot ... you can see through it. Fe 👍
If drill a hole in a piece of steel the same size as the welding rod steel then just chuck the bear end in a drill and push it through the hole you drilled and all the flux comes off leaving clean rod
It's tiger stripped Damascus, sweet
Kick ass
How much would a Blacksmith sell a knife like that! It is absolutely a beautiful Bowie!! Well done Sir!!
Great narrating😂😂😂
Better lookn than I expected. . Thanks for the vid
nice job idol
Could you do a Damascus axe with a cherry wood handle I think that would be a beautiful blade. Love the knife it was exquisite work.
U sharpened it be4 the heat treat making the edge weak
Wish I could have told ya how to make a simple jig using Legos or and a angle grinder
A true artist, I love that you tested positive he knife and modified the age geometry acordinly
it looks cool ..almost remindes me of a cheese knife i guess
Great work😊
What does it say on your Anvil?
One of my little helpers wrote Fire Creek Forge on it.
I like the respiration filter, I tune in to MichaelCthulhu as well!

This knife is really sharp and beautiful. 👍👍
I do like hearing your thought process and a walkthrough of what you are doing. I don't forge myself but I've watched a shed load of forged in fire so I did know what you was doing. Also like the fact you do a test for how well the edge holds. Seen a few forgers that only test sharpness but I've seen you test the edge it fail and then you learn from it and improve the same blade.
Great idea thanks
The kukri has been one of my favourite tools for more than 50 years and I have been fortunate to own one made by the traditional blacksmiths of Nepal. It is an awesome tool. But you, my friend have taken it to a new level. That process you talked us through and all the different steps undertaken to turn out the final product was just so informative, it was like being there with you during the process. You are a master craftsman who has great skill and a very good touch. I envy your skill and it would be a dream come true to own one of your masterpieces. Brilliant work!
I really like the build and enjoy the videos. I just wish people would stop using the term “San Mai” in what seems to be more about the “process” and not the blade construction. San Mai is a cladding construction of a blade, with a more ductal steel body and cladded with a high carbon high hardness cutting edge.
Should have left the flux on em
